#Pacha and Kuzco

I like that Pacha and Malina represent different kinds of support systems for Kuzco.

Pacha is a kind and selfless father figure who expresses unconditional love and belief in the goodness of humankind. He believes that all humans have good in them but some just need some guidance and an unwavering good example in their lives to bring that goodness out of them.

Malina is kind of tough love and believes all humans should strive to be civil and kind. Maybe she doesn't fully live up to this herself, but still believes that's what people should do and thus pushes Kuzco with pressure and faith in him to do the right thing. She sees herself in Kuzco and wants to see him overcome his faults so she can believe in herself to do the same.

They both love him. They both care about him. They both are his soulmates. Yes, you can have multiple. They really have such special bonds with Kuzco and it's clear from how Kuzco is different around them than from anyone else. He's vulnerable around them. He's the real Kuzco around them. They're the only people he will admit his honest feelings to most all of the time. He's happy around them the way he isn't with anyone else, even Guaca.

I love how in Kuzco fever there's a shot where Malina is just standing there with the Pacha clan and she fits in perfectly like they're all 1 big happy family. Pacha clearly approves of her being in Kuzcos life and know she will be a good influence for him while he's at school.

I know some movie fans, probably pacha Kuzco shippers(🤐) were upset to see Kuzco get close to another person like he didn't care about Pacha anymore. I do think that Pacha got sidelined in the show and could have used more scenes. But the show is about focusing on the fact that Kuzco is mentally and literally a teenager and needs to form healthy relationships with people his age. Malina was the perfect person to come into his life at this time.

Both Pacha and Malina fulfill important roles in Kuzcos social life: father figure and best friend/lover. As much as he loves Pacha he's not gonna get to bond with him about teenager stuff like he can with his classmates. Pacha was a really great father figure and mentor and teacher throughout the show, even with his limited screentime.

Not sure what the point of this post was exactly, but I love both Kuzco and Pachas relationship as well as Kuzco and Malinas. I'm glad we got to see both and I'm glad we got Guaca in there too, for male friend bonding. Kuzco now has a healthy balanced social life going into his emperor adultness. A found family. A healthily diverse one. 💚

So about that “What if in another universe” thought again after Treasure Planets’ cancelled projects…What about the Emperor’s old groove?

This is Pacha’s OG design, meant to be Manco’s (Kuzco’s OG name) doppelgänger/twin in the scrapped movie “Kingdom of the Sun”. An Incan influenced version on the “Prince and the Pauper” storyline was in the development, but was unfortunately re-worked….Sort of conflicted upon finding it out but I think it was for the better =)

Was not initially a 45-year old family man with a wife and 3 kids!! He was an 18 year old Llama herder who adores the sun; contrasts to Manco who was basically Kuzco: self-centered, and abrasive towards his royal duties.

He did have a love interest though, she’s called Nina and together had a duet called “One day she’ll love me”. Cute =)…Oh they scrapped it with Yzma’s villain song too =(

The Little Mermaid was my favorite Disney movie when I was little, so when my mom got me Little Mermaid II for Christmas I loved it almost as much as I loved the original! It follows the story of Melody, Ariel and Prince Eric's daughter, who (due to nefarious happenings shortly after her birth) has no idea her mother was a mermaid, and her journey to find out her heritage and why she's so drawn to the idea of life under the sea! I can still remember some of the songs, and while the animation isn't nearly as good, it's still a worthy sequel.

idk how the broader population feels about this movie but i watched it a TON on vhs as a kid. stan melody!!!!!

But since I’ve been sick I’ve been watching movies and I came across the Emperor’s New Groove and I forgot just how amazing the movie is. I love it, I definitely recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet :3

Anyways, I got bored and I thought Yzma’s and Kronk’s personalities were somewhat similar to my Gabriel and Micheal soooooo—

What’s your favorite western animated movie

Believe it or not, the answer is still "the first movie I remember watching" after all this time. It was absolutely the formational experience. Every time I return to The Emperor's New Groove, I grow more aware of how much my current preferences were shaped by it. Protagonists more defined by their flaws than their virtues, reframing of jokes for drama, egomania as a character flaw, 4th wall humor, comically unreliable narrators, constantly bickering duos, radically dynamic equivalence in translation, Yzma's and Kronk's specific brand of manzai. All of these I love and have talked about loving here in this blog come from 4-year-old me having a great time watching a monarch become a llama.
