In Burning Palace, Vein’s and Feifei’s parts were a celebration of their similarities. However, their individual character songs show how much they contrast each other

Edit: I was wrong. Burning Palace also juxtaposes Vein and Xia Fei. While Xia Fei is telling his enemies to shut their mouths, Vein is letting them talk.

Megatron has been done already, now I, Starscream, get a Multi-Universal Height Chart done! I decided to bite the bullet and do another big one (tho none compare to the behemoths of megatron and optimus.)

Wanna hear something weird? Starscream is the ONLY (and I mean only) transformer I don't like. I have nothing against those who do like him, I can understand why you do. He's your pathetic little meow meow male wife twink man in stilettoes. I get it, I just.. don't like him... personally. Which is odd bc I have at least some level of affection for every other transformer, screamy is my only exception. Idk, anyway, here he is, and uh- enjoy.

Beast Wars 2 - ~8 feet (TFWiki, idk either, I'm never watching it)

Earthspark - ~12 feet (No Source, I got this height by first measuring Bumblebee to a barn door, then comparing Bumblebee to Optimus, then Optimus to Megatron, then Megatron to Starscream. This show does not have concrete numbers, so this is the best I can do.)

Unicron Trilogy V2&3/ENG&CYB - ~14 feet (TFWiki, for the uneducated, the Unicron Trilogy has given each of its 3 seasons separate names and 3 separate art styles. These are the designs used in Energon (S2) and Cybertron (S3). The Wiki had Cybertron's numbers but not Energon's, so for my own sanity, I decided the two were the same height.)

Gen 1 - ~16 feet (TFWiki, I love it when I don't have to put in effort)

Prime Wars - ~16 feet (No source, but it's identical to G1 so it's the same height)

Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~16 feet (Same thing as before, identical to G1)

Cyberverse - 18 feet (This comes from a screenshot of this video, which has the Cyberverse height chart everyone uses, though the quality of the screenshot is iffy.)

Knight/Capel-Verse - ~18 feet (We have like two scenes of this bitch and he doesn't stand normally next to anyone. I'm used my TFOne heights bc the scaling should be around the same, probably. If they ever give actual numbers I will be very happy.)

One - ~18 feet (Okay, so this movie doesn't have any actual numbers, aside for some bullshit ones from a Walmart Promotional. I've been using the Knightverse Optimus number as a baseline since these were at one point said to be vaguely canon to each other. And the Bumblebee-Optimus scaling is the same. This was so hard to get, we never get a clean level shot of Starscream next to anyone. I was able to guesstimate that he's around Soundwave's and Shockwave's height, but I can't be certain.)

Unicron Trilogy V1/Armada - 19 feet 7 inches (TFWiki, technically this is for the videogame, which is it's own branch of UT canon but I don't care. The designs are identical between the game and show.)

Aligned Cont. WF/FOC/TFP/RID15 - 24 feet 7 inches (Fandom, and even if they don't cite their source, I believe it. Look- every single one of these fuckers are massive when you pay attention to the show. It's a show full of freaks.)

"I like your Halloween costume,” You yell, slurring a little, as you lean across the kitchen counter in the loud house party you’ve been at all night. The man - barely, if you are being honest - looks back at you with surprise in his eyes. He’s dressed in a very fitted outfit, a white jacket and blue slacks, and is gripping the strap of a weapon harness with the grip of a katana sticking out the back. Above him, a looming gray mass stares down at you, an intricate, unblinking puppet with the largest teeth you’ve ever seen, and it seems to be attached to his shoulder from the way it’s sitting. It must weigh a ton, and you can’t help the fact that your eyes keep glancing up to it.

The music at the party is almost too loud and the drinks almost too strong for you to hear his response, but you lean in a little closer to make out the words. “My costume?”

You smile then. “Yeah! That puppet thing is really cool! Did you make it?” You ask, pointing up at the gray figure, and now it’s teeth are dripping with some sort of water feature. “It must have taken you forever.”

“My puppet?” He seems confused before he’s turning slightly and staring at the thing nearly hovering above him, and when he brings his eyes back to yours, he is less confused and more shocked. “You can see her.”

“Of course I can! She’s kind of taking up the whole party,” You laugh, sipping down the sloshing liquid in your fourth - fifth? - red solo cup full of who knows what. This thing puts your angel wings and tiny sequin dress to shame. “What are you supposed to be?”

He considers your face for a moment before putting his hand on your arm and pushing the drink away from your mouth. “This isn’t a costume.”

“What?”

“This isn’t a costume!”

“What?!” You yell, the music feeling like it gets louder every time he tries to talk to you. He shakes his head and leans in further.

“I’m Yuta Okkotsu,” He finally relents, putting his hand out, and you can hear this one.

“Yuta Okkotsu, nice name,” You lean in yourself, and for you, it’s not about how well he can hear you. While the first thing you noticed about this guy was the giant puppet thing he had, the second and more important thing was just how unbelievably attractive he was. You offer your own hand and name to him, and soon, your fingers are lingering against his as you give him a polite smile. “Yuta Okkotsu, what do you do for work?”

Work seems to be a touchy subject because all he’s able to do is open and close his mouth over and over again for a long while. “It’s a long story,” He says after a moment, looking down at where your hands are touching, and the mysterious act is starting to grind your gears a little bit, but you’ve done a lot worse for some mediocre dick with fewer drinks in your system. No one can ever say you’re not determined.

“I’m still in school,” You hiccup a little, “Masters degree.”’

“Wow. In?”

“Whatever will make me the most attractive,” You smile deviously, quirking an eyebrow at him as your fingers come up his arm a little bit. 

The way you’re being so forward brings a blush to his face that softens his features; it makes him look quite young, and you wonder for a minute if he’s younger than you are. Before you can talk yourself out of pursuing him further, though, you hear a sharp hiss from above. You glance back up at the puppet on his shoulder, and either the drinks are really hitting you hard now or she got closer to you. It seems her teeth are now dripping with saliva down onto you, and it sends a cold chill down your spine and makes your breath catch in your throat. You’re close to dipping, bowing out, when his hand finds your arm. His touch is gentle, and it brings you back to him, down to Earth. He’s smiling softly at you when you finally look at him.

“Would you like to go upstairs?”

Easy is as easy does or whatever that saying is.

One Eighth Plan Day countdown.

Part 6 of 6 - Lui ⨉ Taichi

I swear, I wanted to make my stupid recurring joke when I imagined what would happen in the movie back in 2022: The stupid joke of Taichi finding it impossible that the first Chosen Child is YOUNGER than him.

And I have to admit, before this movie, I wondered how old the first one would have been. I'm not here to argue about why I support the theory that Rui is the first -- because even the movie wants you to doubt EVERYTHING Rui claims and tells the 02 kids/audience [read the 'read more' for explanation]

So yeah, why would Taichi find it suspicious? Because it goes against his own knowledge or what he was told. No, he doesn't dislike Rui or think he's untrustworthy. It's more like he thinks something doesn't make sense. And Rui himself was isolated from EVERYONE and EVERYTHING related to the digimon until his first contact with the 02 kids. And we don't know if Ukkomon wasn't another kind of digimon who was isolated from the others to the point of not understanding his own kind. Maybe Ukkomon was just parroting what his higher-ups told him to do and say (and unfortunately, Ukkomon is not like, smart enough... Uh... watch the movie and you might understand???)

Besides, Taichi thinks that the first Chosen, the "Legendary Origins of Everything", would have been older than him. And then this... tiny little sad guy appeared. And... It's FOUR YEARS YOUNGER than him.

As for Rui… He wouldn't understand why Taichi doesn't seem to believe him. It doesn't bother him, it just… Taichi's presence is like standing in front of an important person, and his stupid digimon had probably caused this man a lot of headaches… "I'm sorry??!"

But no worries, Taichi and Rui will get along. Taichi knows that whoever the 02 kids trust cannot be a bad person! Even if that person is just a very sad, awkward potato who's bad at people!

Especially if Taichi and Rui go to eat Daisuke's delicious ramen on Tuesdays while Motomiya Ramen is open~

(btw the countdown ends here, but there's one more surprise to finish July doodles...!! Yeah, this is for July 30, not July 31!!)

As for why Rui's status as the first Chosen is doubtful and it's not clear whether it's true or false… Might get a bit longer so bear with Ni ↓

The truth is… Rui never claims to be the first Chosen Child in the movie. The one who started claiming that he was the first was the 02 Group itself! What Rui said in the PVs and in the movie is that "I was the first person to form a partnership with a digimon in the world" (this was also part of the announcement PV & promo art!) So, is Rui the first or not? The fact that it's very unclear, and that they seem to contradict all the information he gives you with what the 02 kids (and us) know so far, is meant to make you question it. And Advverse never had "solid, clear" answers because… Everything is unknown to everyone there, not even the entities of the Digital World (Holy Beasts, Gennai & the Agents, Homeostasis, etc.) seem to know everything. And that's okay? The human world and the Digital World are still mysteries, so it would be boring if we had all the answers imo.

So the movie does not seem to want to break the mystery surrounding everything, or rather, does not want to "contradict" previous things that have been released.

The Advverse, the OG one, is very very COMPLICATED, so yeah, messing with it is REEEEEEEALLY dangerous, so… Take everything Rui and Ukkomon say in the movie with a grain of salt.

A Bíblia e o Suicídio

Tema 1: Rei Saul (1 Sm 31: 3, 4)

Após uma noite mal dormida à procura da feiticeira, Saul se encontra em meio à sua mais acirrada batalha com os cadáveres de seus filhos à sua frente. O desespero consome seu coração de tal forma, que sem pensar com a razão, o mesmo pede ao seu pajem para matá-lo, o qual se recusa e, então, o rei retira a própria vida. Seu suicídio é o ponto final de 40 anos de reinado, 39 anos de desobediência a Deus e de mais de uma década de perseguição a Davi.

A atitude do rei não deve ser avaliada isoladamente porque ela é o clímax de inúmeras ações antecessoras contrárias à vontade soberana de Deus. O caminho injusto e cruel de Saul não se iniciou ao invejar Davi ou em sua sede pelo poder, mas no primeiro ano de seu reinado, quando não confiou no Senhor (1 Sm 13). Nisso percebe-se que o suicídio não é uma ação pensada de um dia para o outro, mas o resultado de uma vida longe de Deus, em que há decepções e desesperança.

Ao se suicidar, ele cedeu mais uma vez ao desespero para resolver o problema de sua vida. Ele mesmo quis solucionar, como sempre, em vez de entregar seus problemas a Deus. O suicídio de Saul não resolveu o problema dele como ele desejava, pelo contrário, atraiu o que mais temia para si. Pois se para ele perder o reino era um problema, ao se suicidar ele o perdeu completamente; se para ele era um dilema não ter o respeito de seu povo, ao se suicidar, seu cadáver foi capturado e decapitado pelos filisteus para vergonha pública; se ele odiava perder a guerra, o mesmo se rendeu ao se matar.

O suicídio é uma falsa resposta de resolução e isso vale para você também. Dizem que a morte sana os dilemas desta vida terrena, mas isso é somente a aparência. Quem deseja não ter dificuldade nesta vida, ainda não compreendeu o que é viver e nem o que as aflições de Cristo significam.

A Verdade sobre todas as coisas, a saber, os ensinamentos de Cristo, revela que os problemas desta vida são oportunidades para desenvolver a fé e não para a destrui-la. Cristo sentiu as mais profundas dores a fim de que saibamos que Ele Se aproxima daquele que O clama porque Ele também foi humano (Hb 2:18). O nosso mediador é Jesus Cristo homem, isto é, Cristo media por nós todos os dias lembrando ao Deus Pai que Ele morreu em nosso lugar e devido a tal sacrifício, nós somos DEle (1 Tm 2:5).

Se você olhar pela perspectiva da vida de Jesus, os dilemas nesta vida não cessarão, mas você terá certeza de que não estará só. Cristo é a solução e a esperança que traz vida. Se te mostrares fraco no dia da angústia, a tua força será pequena (Pv 24:10); mas se focar em Deus e em Suas promessas, saberás que a angústia certamente terá um fim. Por isso não desfaleça; mas, ainda que o seu exterior se enfraqueça, permita que o interior, contudo, se renove diariamente. Porque a sua leve e momentânea tribulação produzirá em ti um peso eterno de glória mui excelente. Portanto não se atente nas coisas que vê, mas nas que se não vê; porque as que se veem são temporais, e as que se não veem são eternas (2Co 4:16-18).

Introduction/Story summary:

Randy was adopted by Norisu Clan eight years ago, and trained as a ninja like he always dreamed when he was a kid. However, he did not understand why he couldn't go out like the other ninja students, and why he kept dreaming about a pair of red eyes that made him dizzy. Just what are Master Nomi and First hiding from him?

Or: Randy is Tengu, First is a Dragon, Theresa is a Carpfish yokai. Nomi isn't quite righteous when it comes to a bird demon. Sorcerer just want power. Which side is justice? Does it matter anymore?

(This au will be really out of character. Don't like, don't read!)

Forewarning:

1)This story is probably so original that it almost have nothing to do with the canon. Only some settings have reflections.

2)No one is completely good or evil, except for the Sorcerer, he's all villain. (I'm even confusing myself with the idea. One of the reasons why it's my favorite au)

Something about this au:

I'm obsessed with the idea of Norisu having a dark past. I mean, ninjas aren't always heroes like in the show. They are more like assassins in Japanese history.

Seriously? A bird demon's feathers were used to make ninja suit. Carpfish elements appeared here and there in the show. The Pearl of Chaos's true origins remain vague. A bunch of forbidden knowledges of "The Shadow Warrior" were never showed...

There are also many fanarts and fanfics exploring this idea. My AU inspiration came from some of them, to be honest.

There's actually an alternative cover(below), but I think I made it too...creepy and obviously going off the theme.

I tried a new style of comic. This story will show in different points of view. When the character's area on the panel lights up, it means this part is his or her point of view, and only show what the character saw, heard, thought or felt.(If not, it means I forgot, haha)

Oh my gosh so much is going on in the music and visuals of the Xiao Chasm cutscene. So many thoughts, mostly from Xiao’s pov

For the narrative aspect, I’m looking at primarily the music’s motifs/leitmotifs, as well as the animation’s editing (that is, sequential order of shots) and shot composition (visual symbolism)

Context: I know the quest’s general plot but not the details. This is my first time watching this cutscene. This post will make more sense if you have it side-by-side with the cutscene video.

Warning: near character death, Xiao’s suicidal ideation is the general theme but I discuss it in a particularly graphic manner in one line for the 3:09 section

1:02 - is that the same motif that appeared in “Storm Befalls” and “Perpetual Motion of Wind”. Would that part symbolize the Anemo element—“Storm Befalls” plays when we first meet the corrupted/mind-controlled Stormterror who’s under the assumption that Mondstatians betrayed him when it was his duty to guard them—oh, and maybe duty vs freedom?

1:09 - is that the motif from the cryobedo shot in the 2.3 PV, what. Corruption? (Cryobedo is a Whooperflower corrupted by Durin’s blood, and Durin & Dragonspine heart is associated with deep red and black. likewise Xiao seems to be holding back some sort of deep red/black corruption)(that look like a whale for some reason. I’m probably distracted) Idk

1:24 - Yelan is showing off her elemental attacks so we’ve got the default motif based on a Mond battle theme that shows up a lot in attack shots of character demo soundtracks. Makes sense, good job

1:31 - I LOVE how Xiao’s leitmotif from his demo is included. In his demo this bit is played when he’s about to give in to the corruption at the marsh, I think.

1:36 - And then in this cutscene it cuts to a flashback of Zhongli’s lone figure with the music immediately calming (paralleling Venti’s lone flute in Xiao’s demo. I see what you did there.) and also obvious foreshadowing to Zhongli saving him a few minutes later

1:56 - Xiao’s demo leitmotifs continues as we move back to the present. We get multiple sections all out of order from the demo. We also see everyone fighting the dark blob things. These guys are in deeeeep danger—but especially Xiao.

2:29 - that shot communicates how tiny and weak they are against this dark energy as it overtakes the blue circle. Perfect

2:53 - the Fantastic Compass is cracking and Xiao’s mask too in the next shot. Really feels like they’re not gonna make it. The Yaksha General Alatus is going down

3:09 - Yenfei: “You can’t keep this up… your strength won’t last…” *Immediately a calm and inappropriately uplifting flute (?) & strings version of Xiao’s leitmotif (near the start of his demo, but that one is with a heavily distorted electric guitar) plays.* Xiao’s duty is coming to an end and he’s gonna sacrifice himself for the sake of protecting the rest of the group. (It’s like… the mentality of suddenly being calm and cheerful as one plans to commit suicide, not because they enjoy death, but because they believe this is the only way that their suffering will end.)

3:18 - *animation shows him sending everyone back* Yelan desperately reaching out to Xiao and with Paimon’s tiny voice calling out for him breaks my heart… and the magic compass. It’s shattered. He’s gone

3:35 - The golden threads of a Geo symbol save Xiao who’s falling in the darkness. It’s obviously Zhongli—as foreshadowed in that earlier shot I talked about. (Also isn’t that glow pattern the same as Zhongli’s “vision” glow)

3:47 - brief shot of Zhongli’s robe as he overlooks the chasm. Nice, obvious confirmation to every foreshadowing about him that occurred before. Woohoo. Xiao looks back in the next shot. He knows

General conclusion: I think… if you’re familiar with Xiao’s & Zhongli’s basic settings, Xiao’s character demo, the Yaksha intro cutscene, and the basic premise/plot of the Chasm quest, then by music alone you should be able to guess the major emotional beats in this cutscene. (The cutscene’s soundtrack is called “Hang by a Thread”.) Genshin Impact’s musical storytelling is godly.

oh no problem i don't think it was like a terrible post on the relative scale of internet takes, but op pissed me off lol like a native canto speaker spoonfeeds you info and you just refuse to engage with it. it's not even being curious it's just dense as hell. they eventually came around but man the reading comprehension-

anyways the canto accent—idk how to describe it tbh. some of the syllables sound more canto? like the way they're broken up and which words get more emphasis etc. tons of ppl (on bilibili) said it sounds like very realistic/authentic "guangpu" which is shorthand for cantonese accented standard chinese. the best example of this imo is when he says 本领嘛 (běnlǐng ma) in the suanni papercut teaser; the stress/emphasis on each syllable like separates them a lot more than in mando? ben and ling especially sound sharper when he said it, like if you use more force w your tongue/lips to pronounce the b and l sounds. i am not a linguist so this could be completely off (but there's more unrelated talk about canto vs mando under the cut)

the more explainable thing he does is use phrases that aren't used in standardized mandarin. 我埋单(wo3 máidān) ("my treat" in eng dub) is a canto phrase—i think(?) mandarin speakers would say 我结账 (wo jiézhàng). 埋 means bury in mandarin, but in cantonese it can mean to close/settle (accounts), or come together (as in closing a wound). closing the check in this case ig. importantly 埋单(canto) and 买单(mǎidān, mandarin) do not mean the same thing (unlike i originally thought haha), even though the tones are v similar

he also says 勤力点 (qínlì diǎn) during the suanni trailer which i assume would be 尽力点 (?) (jìnlì diǎn) in mando, they both mean the same thing (to work hard) it's just diff words. qin is the first word of qinkuai 勤快, hardworking

his 喔 (wo, filler word) and 哪(na, also filler word, except he says it like 那哈 na ha to me lol) also just sounds so canto jfsdkfj. they both exist in mando and are used but idk the pronunciation sounds a bit diff?

Honestly, it might be more helpful to listen to his lines in mandarin and then listen to gaming's version to see if you can hear any differences, because his audio from the livestream is a lot closer to mandarin than cantonese
