Beef Braciole
Prep: 25 mins Cook: 95 mins Rest Time: 15 mins Total: 2 hrs 15 mins Servings: 4 to 6 servings Yield: 3 rolls
Ingredients
1 medium skirt steak, about 24 ounces
    Kosher salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
6 thin slices prosciutto, about 3 ounces
4 medium garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup coarsely chopped Italian parsley, more for garnish
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1/3 cup red wine
    1 (15-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
Steps to Make It
    Gather the ingredients.
Cut the skirt steak into 3 equal cross-wise pieces, parallel to the grain. Each piece should be about 6- to 7-inches long, depending on the meat.
Place one piece between two sheets of parchment paper. With a rolling pin, pound the meat to flatten it to a thickness of about 1/4-inch. Repeat with the 2 remaining pieces.
Generously season the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper.
Lay two slices of prosciutto evenly on top of each steak. Scatter the garlic and herbs evenly on top of the prosciutto.
Roll the steaks from end to end and tie them with kitchen twine to hold the roll in place. Tuck in any loose bits of steak, prosciutto or herb.
Add the oil to a large Dutch oven (or other heavy-duty pot with a lid) over medium heat. When the oil shimmers, sear the braciole on two or three sides until golden brown.
Deglaze the pan with the red wine, scraping up all the crusty brown bits stuck to the bottom. Reduce the heat to low.
Add the crushed tomatoes and stir briefly to incorporate with the pan juices and the wine. Place the lid on the Dutch oven. Simmer on low until the braciole are tender when pierced with a fork, about 90 minutes. Remove from heat.
Remove the braciole to a cutting board. Let rest 15 minutes. Remove the kitchen twine from the braciole. Slice each roll crosswise, transfer to a plate and top with sauce as desired. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
Tips
If you don't have kitchen twine, you can secure the rolls with toothpicks or unflavored dental floss. Or try using strips of heavy-duty foil.
Searing the rolls adds flavor to the sauce, but you may skip this step to save time.
Slow Cooker Variation
Follow the recipe above through step 6, then brown the meat by first heating the oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the wine, scraping up browned bits. Transfer beef and any remaining liquid to a slow cooker. Add tomatoes, garlic, and remaining herbs. (Note: Ingredients should come about 1/2 way up the side of the meat.) Set slow cooker to HIGH. Cook for 2 hours, checking once or twice to make sure there's plenty of liquid in the pot. Add some water if you need to replenish the liquid. Remove braciole from broth and let rest for 15 minutes before removing twine and carving. Serve with the tomato sauce.
How to Store and Freeze
Refrigerate leftover cooked braciole and sauce within 2 hours and eat within 3 days.
To freeze, transfer the cooked braciole and sauce to a freezer container or resealable freezer bag. Label with the name and date and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost frozen braciole in the refrigerator overnight.
To reheat leftover braciole, place it in a sauté pan. Cover and cook over low heat until the rolls register at least 165 F in the center.

Prosciutto helping lost tourist Reader
-
Prosciutto was bored.
His cold eyes glazed over the scenery before him as he rested against the adobe wall of a local cafe, previously having a coffee inside not too long ago. He studied the array of shops and buildings that lined the streets, kids running down the sidewalk playing tag, hearing their laughter and shouts. The florist across the street was conversing with one of the women that lived in the building next to his shop-Prosciutto couldn’t make it out what they were saying exactly so he played out a conversation in his head where the poor man was trying to sucker her into buying something through some two-faced lie. It wasn’t too warm today, not too cold either- it was the perfect weather to go out today.
The hitman wasn’t having any of it though. No new missions, no errands, he hated it. He had forgotten the monotony of a simple life, he wondered how it was that people managed to do this, to just go with everything that came and live without a care.
A smirk crept on his lips as he spotted someone across the street squinting down at a map, watching them look up here and there at the street signs before groaning in frustration. Classic tourist, Prosciutto thought before turning the gears in his head. A light went off in his head, maybe this would be a fun little routine breaker.
He puts his cigarette out beneath polished shoes before stuffing his hands in his pockets and making his way over.
Across the street, you were completely lost as to what direction you were supposed to be going. You had a destination, but the streets were a lot more confusing than what you were used to, even after spending a few days in Italy at this point. You looked around for a moment to ask for help, paying no mind to the figure making his way towards you before you sigh in defeat and lift up the map to look over again.
“Ti sei persa?” A smooth voice breaks you out of your jumbled plight, causing you to snap your head up towards whoever it was. As soon as you meet this man’s cool blue stare, your breath hitched in the back of your throat. Not a single blonde strand of hair was out of place and he fit in that patterned suit quite nicely. You had seen plenty of attractive men on your trip so far but he had stolen first place with just one glance.
Prosciutto wasn’t expecting his heart to skip a beat when you lock eyes, his first thought being ‘cute’ when he gets a good look at your face. Your curious, lost stare with furrowed brows and lips parted in confusion was absolutely adorable to him. He regains his train of thought and clears his throat, breaking the silence between the two of you, “Sorry.” He chuckled before repeating himself in English this time, voice coated in an accent that wasn’t too heavy, “Are you lost?”
You took a second to find your words, unable to process that this very attractive stranger was offering you a helping hand. It felt too much like the beginning of some cheesy romance movie. “Oh-uh, yeah.” you managed to cough out, directing his attention to the map in your hands. “Can you help me find this restaurant? One of the staff at the hotel recommended it to me.”
His eyes glaze over the area circled in pen on your map before he shakes his head and  tuts lightly. “I know a better place. That one isn’t bad, but they like to trick pretty little tourists like you. Come, I’ll get you a good deal.” He shot a wink towards you, knowing damn well that he’s got you in the palm of his hand. “Call me Prosciutto, what’s your name?”
He offered you his arm to take, which you gladly accepted, linking your arm with his and telling him your name before whisking you off on an impromptu tour. The alarms were going off, hollering in your mind that this man could very well be dangerous, but he had managed to sweep you off your feet within a minute and his handsome looks made you swoon. The way he had smooth talked you into going with him, his nicely pressed suit that you didn’t doubt being a designer brand, his exposed chest-you were instantly hooked.
The blonde knew Naples like the back of his hand, impressing you greatly and you internally thank fate for handing you such an attractive tour guide for free. He weaved through the streets with you in tow, guiding you away from any tourist traps you were sure you would’ve fallen for. You’re enamored with all the information he’s giving you along with all the sights around you, admiring the colorful architecture and the rich history of the city.
Once the two of you arrive, you’re instantly seated at a table and it appears the staff holds Prosciutto in high regards. They’re most attentive to the two of you, greeting you with a warm welcome when they see him by your side, and offer their best wines and put in a special order to the chef. The restaurant isn’t too flashy or grandiose, it has a homely and warm feeling to it, and you understand why Prosciutto had taken you here. Families are enjoying a meal together, laughing and catching up with friends and neighbors they happen to run into here.
While waiting for the food, Prosciutto takes a moment to ask some questions about you and in return, reveals the bare minimum about himself-at least, to your knowledge. His interest grows the more you talk about yourself, and knows that this has gone a lot farther than he expected. He isn’t complaining though, as he asks about where you’re from.
Prosciutto adores the excitement that went ablaze in your eyes as the two of you engaged in  a conversation about your countries. The way you gush about your hometown has him say, “Maybe you can show me around in the future.” The idea of taking Prosciutto around your home turf has you going red in the face and taken aback for a moment.
“I’d love to!” you declare a little too eagerly, finally forming a response. He leans back, amused as the food arrives and the two of you enjoy a meal together. Prosciutto pays for the whole lunch afterwards, catching you off-guard slightly even after you insisted to pay at least half of the bill.
“All apart of the tour package,” He quips, “my services aren’t free.” He holds back a laugh at the aghast expression that takes over your features, “I’m joking. I’ll walk you to your hotel.” There’s more to that offer, you can tell by the more flirtatious tone his voice takes as the flustered heat in your face rises for the hundredth time again and you regain your composure.
You link your arms with his once more, both of you becoming fond of the company of each other.
Prosciutto brings you to your hotel, as he promised, getting your hopes up further as he offers to take it a step further and walk you to your room. “Just making sure that you’ll be safe. Naples can be dangerous if you’re not careful.” he elaborates, your thoughts grow wilder by the second.
The silence on the way to your room is almost killing you, unsure if he’s been teasing you or not. You really hope he’s implying something by bringing you back, especially after the time spent with him today, but you know it’s not likely he’d act on anything. The way he looked so gentleman-like too wasn’t helping. When you get to the room, you turn to him with a flushed face after unlocking the door, “Would you like to come in?”
You’re a little let down when he politely declines your offer, “I’d love to, but I have a meeting soon.” You curse yourself for getting your hopes up so quick. You quickly perk back up when he speaks up again. “Will you be around here for long?”
“It’s my last week in Italy.” You admitted, heart dropping when you saw a hint of disappointment flash across his features. Your eyes darted around the inside of the room for a pad of paper and a pen. “Hold on.” You spot them laying atop the bedside drawer and rush to write a few things before tearing off a piece of paper. You hurry back to the doorway and hold the torn parchment out to him. “Here, take this.”
Scrawled in your handwriting was your email and phone number to your hotel room.
“I really want to see you again if that’s okay.” You admit, wanting to know him a little more before you had to leave, watching him stare down at your writing.
“It’s fine with me, I was hoping to show you the frescoes at the cathedral.” he replies, looking back at your hopeful expression. “See you soon.” He turns on his heel and leaves the hotel as you sit in anticipation for your next encounter together.
The blonde man looked at the scrap of paper in his hand fondly before looking up at the blue sky, watching the clouds go overhead, and making plans in his head to make it a trip the both of you would remember.

4. Ghiaccio does not function as an air conditioner. Do not request any related help.
5. Formaggio's feline is claustrophobic; handle with care.

7. Operation 'Deprive Risotto of his Peace' is not an official mission, no matter what Gelato says.

Summer Vs La Squadra
Tumblr media
(La Squadra, GN!Reader, SFW, Fluff/Crack)
Risotto
Second best at handling the heat.
Stays in his office with 20 fans turned on.
Shorts and tank top since black leather+ hat don't go well with the Italian weather.
Checks up on everyone.
"Drink some water"
If you're on a mission he calls you mid-fight to make sure you're ok/hydrated.
Comes home from the store with 5 packs of ice cubes just to be sure everyone is cool.
"You shouldn't drink that. It will not hydrate you. Also, use more sunscreen."
Prosciutto
Do I even have to explain?
Mama mode.
Water provider. Gives you more water once you drank 3 nite glasses.
You had a mission and didn't wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun? Grounded.
Carries moisturizer with him 24/7.
Performs even better in missions from the heat.
Takes baths in cold water.
His face turns red from sun exposure.
"...Me?Sweat?Are you nuts?!"
Formaggio
The cocktail man.
Mixes alcohol as if he was a chemist.
Doesn't even try to handle the heat-you'll see him only in his shorts.
Tries to cuddle you at night but the room has at least 30 degrees Celsius.
Buys a pool and puts ice in it.
Grooms his cats religiously and gives them cold water daily.
Beach volleyball with Formaggio.
Once tried to get inside the fridge.
"Why is it so hot outside...I feel like burning up!"
Illuso
Outside? Never heard of it.
20 fans turned on in his room + AC at the coldest setting.
Always has his hair up cause it's too hot to even style it anymore.
You tried once to drag him outside the house to touch the grass.
Boom-sunburned.
Will do anything to stay cool.
If you ever get to go out with him on a cute date, it's only in the evening or at night.
Waterproof mascara so it doesn't sweat off his face.
"I wish we lived in Antarctica..."
Pesci
The poor man can't handle the Italian heat.
Bathes in ice.
Makes homemade ice cream and lemonade to keep everyone cool.
Prays every night to rain.
Goes fishing at night and night only.
Takes you with him ofc <3
Just like Prosciutto, his face goes red from sun exposure.
Flips the pillow every 3 minutes.
Shuffles in bed for an hour then finally says he can't sleep from the heat.
"Amore, when will it rain again?"
Melone
Good luck.
If you live together, he'll walk around the house naked.
Shame doesn't exist in his vocabulary.
Gets an inflatable pool and puts it inside the house/apartment.
Buys ice cream and cold drinks.
Gets tan really quick.
Once he can't handle the heat anymore, he'll drive the both of you to the ocean side.
Could sleep in the pool if you'd let him.
Feels blessed if the weather suddenly changes.
"May God forgive the sun, but I won't."
Ghiaccio
Portable freezer
Best at handling hot weather.
Cling on him and you'll never be bothered by the heat ever again.
Life is easier.
Could go out in winter clothes and wouldn't be bothered.
The first person you call when temperatures go higher than 43 degrees Celsius.
When the heat actually gets to him, he'll get angry-like REALLY angry.
Ice-inator™
"Seriously, what's up with this weather?"
Sorlato
Sorbet can handle the summer heat, but Gelato is a complete mess without water and an AC.
Suddenly they want to travel to Egypt.
Why?
"To live the full experience of the Egyptian weather"
Both pull out the water guns and water hose.
You know what happens next.
Go out at night since it gives different vibes.
"Tesoro, tomorrow we're going to Venezia, on Tuesday we have a flight to Egypt, and next week we are probably going to visit some county in Asia."

Note
I saw your ask box was open and wanted to know if you could give HCs on La Squadra x Lizard Folk reader?
I’ve always loved reptiles and he a few ideas where reader could drop their tail, is cold blooded, sharp toothed, basic reptile necessities. But is incredibly skilled with fighting.
I’d love to see The Squads reactions of having a Scaled S/O
La Squadra x Lizard Folk!Reader HCs
This is just (chef kiss) thank you so much for requesting this!!!! We really hope we did your request justice :D
Ngl this makes my brain go brrrrrr
When you first dropped your tail everyone froze like someone had hit pause. It was a nice day and you were wrestling with the boys when Formaggio tackled your tail. On instinct you dropped your tail and watched the chaos bloom. Everyone just stared at your twitching tail as it lay there, and then all hell broke loose.
Illuso, Formaggio, and Pesci screamed while scrambling to get away from your writhing tail. Melone and Ghiaccio just stared at in disgust and awe. Risotto and Prosciutto just stared at it frozen with their mouths open.
All in all it was a hilarious sight that you couldn’t help but laugh at- once everything calmed down and you disposed of your tail you explained everything. Melone pouted a little over not getting to examine it.
Formaggio wouldn’t touch your tail for months afterwards-
Cuddle piles are pretty common! With your cold blooded nature and them being human furnaces prepare for cuddle wars! Every now and then you convince Risotto to join and man does he give off heat-
Every now and then the boys will catch you basking on the roof enjoying the sun, and depending on who it is they’ll join you!
Formaggio, Melone, and Illuso will gladly join you in getting some sun. They to get to see their partner in swimwear? Sign them up <33
Ghiaccio hates to be too hot so he’ll just tell you to hydrate properly before basking.
Risotto and Prosciutto sunburn very easily so that’s a no from them plus they’re very busy. If you can drag them away from work they might sit next to you under an umbrella!
Pesci will hang out with you if it’s dusk because he likes watching the sky! If you want to bask while he fish’s then he’d love that! Prosciutto won’t hang out with him wish he goes fishing and he loves your company!
When you first joined they thought you’d just be another weakling newbie to teach. Man we’re they wrong. Each respectively learned why your species were know to be apex’s for so long.
Razor sharp claws and teeth capable of rendering flesh asunder, and enough strength to easily lift 5 grown men. You were beautiful at your most violent.
Honestly they almost bought the ring then and there- an extremely strong and attractive partner makes their brains melt a little~
They find your 3rd eyelid (nictitating membrane) weird in a cute way! Especially how when they give you a forehead kiss you close your eyes and the membrane <3
They really love when you wrap your tail around their leg as you sleep. Honestly even headass’s Risotto and Ghiaccio don’t want to get up for work when you’re cuddling and wrapped around them!
Expect Melone and Ghiaccio to spider monkey you in their sleep in return, Ghiaccio refused to admit he’s clingy in his sleep though-
If you’re a lizard folk with a different colored tongue they think that’s so interesting! You look like you’re eating blue ice cream 24/7!
Melone, Risotto, and Ghiaccio love to listen to you talk about the specifics of your species! Even going as far to listen for hours as you ramble!
If you want a cool dark place to his Risottos office is the perfect space! Just ignore the constant sound of typing and boom the perfect place to hide! If you’re lucky Risotto might join you for a power nap on the couch <3
When you’re shed comes around usually everyone will help you in their own little ways!
Pesci, Melone, and Formaggio will run you as many baths as you need and get you any shed aid products you might need!
Prosciutto and Ghiaccio will cook for you in preparation for when you’re starving from not eating much due to your shed.
Risotto and Illuso will give you a hand if you need help with stuck shed on your hands or eyes. They’re very gentle don’t worry! You’re in very good hands <3

Yandere Prompt Event: Prosciutto with 23 and 24 (SFW)
Tumblr media
23: "Sorry for the restraints. Are they hurting you? I can take them off if only you don’t try to run away again.", 24: "Can’t you see? The world is a scary and dangerous place. If you stay here, you’ll be safe. In my arms."
Prosciutto paces along the far side of the bedroom, phone pressed to his ear.
“Yes, the target’s all sorted. Sorry about that rattling in the background, you can’t hear it can you? No? Good,” he rambles. The rattling in question is your own, struggling in your chains as you attempt to fight your way out of the chair your tied into. The gag is heavy in your mouth.
“I’ll get started on that tonight,” Prosciutto continues. “Just give me 10 minutes, there’s something else I need to sort right now,” he announces, hanging up. He heads over to you, and removes the gag from your mouth. “Sorry for the restraints. Are they hurting you? I can take them off if only you don’t try to run away again.”
“...Target?” you pant fearfully. Prosciutto huffs discontentedly, and brushes the hair from your eyes.
“Not you, don’t worry,” he states. “Dreadfully enough I still have my usual work to take care of. My target is just another idiot thug. Nothing for you to concern yourself with,” he assures. “Anyway. Are you going to be good or not? If you are, you can come out the chair.”
You grunt indignantly.
“Fine,” you concede. Prosciutto gives a curt smile and frees you from your bindings. He rubs your sore wrists.
“There, all done. Now, if you’ll excuse me I have… preparations, to commence. You may move about upstairs as you wish, but for your own sake, please do not come downstairs for the remainder of the night. I will return to you when I am done,” he explains.
“Alright. Whatever,” you accept. He pats your shoulder and leaves.
It seems, even in a situation as dire as yours, you could only remain fearful for so long. About a week ago, something snapped in you, and you stopped being afraid of how Prosciutto may punish your bad behaviour. Since then, you’ve tried to flee three times, the last of which was just a few hours ago. That’s why you were in the chair.
It’s a testament to your newfound resolve that you’re already itching to try again.
Prosciutto is ‘preparing’ for something tonight. A hit, obviously. It’s not like you didn’t always know what it is he does for a living. He actually used to work a lot more than this, you remember. Back when you were seeing him normally, he would be out helping with a kill twice a week. That all stopped when he abducted you.
You guess he must have persuaded his team to take his load for a while as he worked on taming you, but they’re probably trying to get him to take it back now, hence tonight’s hit. This is very good. If they continue to make him take on more work, he’ll be far less equipped to keep an eye on you 24/7. You’re feeling very good about this.
You exit the bedroom and creep quietly down the stairs, holding onto the bannisters to take the weight off your feet. You can hear him, moving around in the ‘storage room’. You’ve never had the guts to see what’s truly in there.
The front door is right ahead of you now. All you have to do is run out of it- a strategy you’ve tried twice before and only failed because Prosciutto heard you leave and gave chase. He’s distracted right now. Your chances are right better. You step towards the door.
A groan sounds from the door behind you.
You turn around with anticipation. You think- you think that was the door to the basement. You’ve only been down there once, the first time you visited this house as a simple, platonic friend. Is… is there someone down there?
It’s not unlikely, you think, stepping towards the door with apprehension. Prosciutto did say he had the target already ‘sorted’. Maybe he’s not preparing for a murder, but an interrogation.
You can’t leave this person be. It wouldn’t be fair for you to run free while you’re left to perish. Quietly as you can, you sneak down the steps.
At the bottom of the staircase is a man, late 30s or early 40s, though it’s hard to tell with all the blood and grime. He’s chained up, arms behind his back pinned to the wall. He is hunched over in agony.
Yeesh, at least you weren’t treated that badly. You stoop over the man and stutter.
“Are- are you alright?-”
“You have to help me!” the man suddenly yelps, head snapping up to meet your eyes. You jolt back, almost screaming in shock, but thankfully managing to contain yourself.
“Wha- what can I do?”
“Get me out of here! I don’t have long! He’s coming back soon and once he has what he wants, he’ll kill me!” the man begs.
“Okay, okay. Do you know where the key is?” you ask.
“I think he keeps it on the stairs.”
Of course. He wouldn’t put it in the main house else you might stumble upon it on accident. You rush back to the stairs and find the dull shine of the little key hidden on the edge of the dusty step. You free the prisoner.
“Thank you,” he spills. “Thank you, thank you!”
“Can we leave now? I’m anxious about him coming back too and I want to get going.”
“Yes! Yes! Let’s go!” the man agrees. You follow him up the stairs in a hurry. To your surprise, the man suddenly darts into the kitchen. “Sorry, one second. I have to get something of mine,” he excuses. You wait anxiously, there’s no sign of Prosciutto. It seems you may actually need to reckon with the fact that this is it. Your escape.
Prosciutto’s prisoner returns from the kitchen and something is… different, about him. You realise with horror he’s holding a knife. Any hope of innocent explanation disappears at once when he opens his mouth.
“You,” he growls. “Don’t think I don’t know what you are. You’re his little apprentice, aren’t you?” he accuses.
“What? I don’t- that was all before-”
“Shut up! I’m going to cut that pretty throat of yours and let him find your body bloodless!”
The next thing you know he’s lunging at you. Without a second thought, you scream.
You shut your eyes expecting pain, but the next thing you feel is the man jolt as the sound of gunshot rips through the air. His weight falls from you, you open your eyes.
“What happened?! Did he hurt you?!” Prosciutto demands, marching towards you. You’re in too much shock to answer. He lifts you into his arms, letting the gun fall to the floor. “What happened?!” he repeats himself.
“I let him out! He tried to hurt me, because he thought I worked for you or something!” you blurt out. Prosciutto sighs.
“Damn it, (y/n). I warned you before he was just another thug. At least you are unharmed,” his voice relaxes. “I could not have forgiven myself if something happened to you.”
The pair of you fall silent, before he begins to carry you back up to bed.
“I suppose this concludes my mission for the night, so I may as well stay with you,” he mutters. Removing your bloodstained jacket, he lies you down on the bed and wraps you in a blanket, crawling into place next to you. “Can’t you see? The world is a scary and dangerous place. If you stay here, you’ll be safe. In my arms.”

how la squadra would react to you asking them their pronouns
risotto:
he hasn’t really thought about it before
“he/him.”
immediately disappears into the shadows
prosciutto:
“i dont have time for this.”
he’s just busy
probably gets back to you in 2-5 business days /j
“he/him. now let me get back to work.”
pesci:
“my pronouns? well, he and they work.”
thanks you for asking
forgets to ask you and approaches you like, 3 hours later asking what yours are
formaggio:
gets confused for a second
“OH SHIT, MY PRONOUNS ARE HE/HIM. WHAT ARE YOURS?”
illuso:
“he/it.”
proceeds to go back to whatever it was that he was doing
melone:
very casual about it
“he/him! what about yours?”
ghiaccio:
scowls
not at the question, he’s annoyed 24/7
“he/they ig.”
sorbet & gelato:
“our pronouns are both he/him.”
one of them says it, the other just nods

Smooshing Cheeks with Prosciutto (drabble)
Prosciutto does not like to indulge in the softer side of loving, but when he does it is always a treat. His affection tends to come out of nowhere and all at once, but it is always in the comfort of your own home, where he can be truly himself. You heard once that cuteness triggers aggression, so perhaps that was why he was always so forward when it came to his affections.
You could be greeting him at the door with a soft, “welcome home, darling.” And he would be dropping his briefcase, bringing his hands to cup your face just to smoosh. You think he enjoys the feeling of your soft skin on his. (Thank you skin care routine!)
Sometimes, he would stand in your way as you were cleaning the house, a cold look on his handsome face that would stop your heart. Was he angry about something? Were you out of his fancy cologne again? You would worry until his hands were on your face again and you were rubbing cheeks together again.
You hypothesize that this is his way of regulating his temper, after all, how many times had you, yourself initiated the cheek smooshing when he was yelling expletives on the phone. You would wait until he was done, when he huffs angrily and reaches for his packet of cigarettes, you reach for him, tenderly cupping his face and bringing it to your own.
“Better?” You would ask him with a soft smile on your face and he would avert his gaze, a little shy about what you had done despite the fact that he had done it multiple times with you before.
“...yeah.”
“That’s good. You always look more dashing when you’re smiling, after all, darling.”
So he could be a macho man and a tough guy all he wanted out on the streets. It was all well and good, as long as he remembered that in your home. He could drop all of that.
In your home, he could indulge in all the tenderness and smooshing he wanted.

Left: fig, arugula, prosciutto,  balsamic, mozz, “italian 6 cheese blend”, Prego pizza sauce
Right: Veggie pepperoni, mozz, italian 6 cheese blend, Prego pizza sauce, world’s most failed attempt at a stuffed crust
Dough recipe base: https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/sourdough-pizza-crust-recipe
Dough alterations: I followed measurements exactly, but instead of doing the 2-4 hour rise I let it rise for 45 minutes at room temperature, and then stuck it in the fridge for 24 hours. This was done primarily out of necessity, as I don’t often have 5 hours at home during the week.
EDIT: upon making this recipe again i realized I did NOT make it as directed - i missed a 1 hour rise in the flattened circles
Method: I preheated the pizza steel in the oven at 450 for a while. This time, I prebaked the dough in the oven with the sauce for 5-7 minutes before adding the cheese, after which I baked for another 7-10 minutes. Left pizza went for less time overall, which explains the kind of sad pale color. IMO, both could have gone for longer in the first stage.
Results: Hot damn. This was some good pizza. As mentioned above, I wish I had cooked the fig one a little longer before adding the cheese. I had to pull it sooner than I wanted because the cheese started really browning. The flavor of the dough was amazing, though. Next time, I might try letting it rise in its shape for a little longer before putting in the oven - the crumb was a little tighter than I’d have liked. It’s also possible 24 hours was too long in the fridge and I need to try to aim for less time - maybe waking up a little early in the morning to prep the dough and letting it go all day in the fridge? I’ll need to test that on a weekend because like hell am I waking up at 7am

The Best Places To Eat In Brooklyn, NY
Brooklyn is one of the most interesting and rapidly evolving places in all of New York City. For many years, it was known primarily as a home for artists, musicians and other creative types. Today, it's also an urban oasis full of amazing restaurants that are turning out some of the best food you'll find anywhere in this great city. Here are just five of my favorite places to eat in Brooklyn:
Barboncino Pizza
Tumblr media
Barboncino Pizza is a Brooklyn Italian restaurant that has been serving up some of the best pizza in the city for over 50 years. They are known for their coal-fired brick oven pizzas, which include classic Neapolitan style pies like Margherita and Salsiccia e Funghi (sausage and mushrooms). Other favorites include their Carciofi Pizza—a crisp potato pizza topped with artichokes, mozzarella cheese, garlic oil and Parmigiano Reggiano—as well as their Prosciutto Cotto Pie—a rich combination of prosciutto cotto ham spread on a thin crust base sprinkled with arugula leaves and drizzled with olive oil.
Barboncino also serves up some delicious pasta dishes; try the Vitello Tonnato Tortellini if you want something light or go all out with the Rigatoni di Pollo al Forno if you’re craving something hearty.
Brooklyn Barge Bar
Brooklyn Barge Bar is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a former naval shipyard which has been converted into an office park and industrial space. It's a great place to visit if you want to learn more about the history of New York City—the place itself is full of historical artifacts—and it's also home to the largest movie set in New York City.
Tumblr media
This barge bar takes up an entire pier, so you'll have plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your meal. If you're looking for something quick and casual with good views, this is definitely the place for you! You can get tacos or sandwiches here (or both), but if you're feeling adventurous try one of their specials: beef empanadas with chimichurri sauce are always popular among patrons who come here often enough that they know what they like best on their menu. The only thing left now is getting there! Unfortunately there isn't really any parking available near this location - so be prepared ahead of time by visiting www/getaroundnyc/parking-map in order
Lucali
If you're looking for a good slice of pizza in Brooklyn, Lucali is the place to go. Their brick oven pizzas are cooked in an old coal oven that was shipped all the way from Naples. The restaurant itself isn't big—it only seats about 20 people—but there's also a bar where you can get your food if you don't want to wait for a table.
Tumblr media
Lucali has been open since 2004 and has been recognized by numerous publications such as Bon Appétit and Zagat Survey for having one of the best pizzas in all of New York City. It's even rated as having one of the top five restaurants in all of Brooklyn by Time Out NY!
Mile End Deli
Mile End Deli is a New York City institution. Its Montreal-style smoked meat sandwiches are legendary, and they're also pretty much the only things you can order here.
Tumblr media
If you want to try this sandwich, it's best to go after midnight—Mile End stays open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The deli is located on Manhattan Avenue in Boerum Hill (Brooklyn), which has become one of NYC's most popular foodie destinations since it received an influx of culinary talent in the 1980s and 1990s.
Di Fara Pizza
Di Fara is a small place, so you'll have to wait in line to get your pizza. But it's worth it! Once you're inside and seated with your slice in hand, don't be surprised if the service feels rushed—they're not looking for tips and they won't be making any small talk with you (unless you initiate). They will however make sure that each order gets out as quickly as possible.
The pizzas are amazing! You can get them by themselves or add toppings like garlic or anchovies; but whatever kind of pizza that floats your boat—get ready to enjoy some serious goodness! Other things on the menu include calzones and sandwiches; but don't forget about their dessert options too: zeppole (Italian fried dough balls) or cannoli shells filled with ricotta cheese cream filling.
There have always been and will forever be great places to eat in Brooklyn.
There have always been and will forever be great places to eat in Brooklyn. You've probably heard of all the usual suspects: Williamsburg, Park Slope, and Cobble Hill. But these are just a few of the borough's many neighborhoods—and there are restaurants worth eating at within walking distance of each one.
Once you've hit up your favorite spots, it's time to branch out into other locales. Whether you're looking for Asian or Indian cuisine, Mediterranean staples like falafel or shawarma sandwiches from street carts, or even just good old-fashioned American fare like burgers and fries—you'll find it all in Brooklyn (and often at affordable prices). This guide is here to help you find some of the best restaurants that Brooklyn has to offer!
There are so many places to eat in Brooklyn, and we’re just scratching the surface with these recommendations. If you’re planning a trip to New York City, make sure that you check out this borough and its many restaurants. There are so many great things happening here that there will be no shortage of options for foodies. We can't wait!

an anti canon ship traits thing
a reminder that while I find the scene sweet especially considering Deke is her grandson and they were finally having a moment of truth there, and he went to comfort her, the next quote/concept is the ANTI of what I want to write when it comes to Jemma being in a relationship with someone, and absolutely not what I’ll write when it comes to FS too. THIS IS NOT ME HATING ON FITZ, like Fitz rpers know I love him. I just don’t think this would ever be them if the writers hadn’t lost it. I think some things were just ooc because they like the concept of Jemma being hope and basically just work as cheerleader so they adapted them to it.
And I do write Jemma as a very doting girlfriend, who loves emotionally supporting her loved ones, making them food, and I will keep writing that. But not like THIS. And I definitely want her to get just as much back. It can’t always be 50% of the weight held by each but it definitely also can’t always be 100% emotional support from her.
“He's complicated. And he's stubborn.” “Yes.” "That's why you let him win arguments sometimes, right?* He can be a real baby when he's sick, so that's why you got to take care of him.** And he's always got the weight of the world on his shoulders. That's why he needs you there to help lighten the load.*** Oh, and he loves his prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches**** that no one can make right except you.” “How could you possibly know all those things?” “Because my mom used to tell me about her parents all the time. She always spoke about her dad with so much love and admiration on her face. Said that he was the best man she ever knew.***** So I know that you can help Fitz******. And I know that you two are gonna be okay because the steps you take don't need to be big”
let me break down what I hate about this for you. And this could have been far easier to just be cute if it hadn’t happened after two seasons of this kind of problems
*Jemma letting him win arguments because he’s complicated and stubborn implies that the constant bickering that she clearly enjoys so much really annoys him instead of being just a cute way to discuss topics, and that he’s not having fun. Plus, she has to compromise for this reason. No, either they don’t bicker, or she should be with someone who enjoys it just as much (Fitz rpers also usually agree on that though, that came out of nowhere) **The emphasis once again on her taking care of him (in this case because he’s a baby when sick). Normally it wouldn’t be bad at all, but in this context, Jemma is always doing 99% of emotional labor, and because she never shares anything (on-screen and it’s implied off-screen too) the writers using the excuse of Jemma being like that have her be an unreal machine capable of giving constant support 24/7 while taking care of her own problems by herself and never breaking. See next points too ***one of Jemma’s traits in the past was that SHE felt responsible for too many things. That is scratched away. There is no ‘and you always felt the weight of the world on your shoulders, blamed yourself for everything, so in return Fitz lightens up the load’. No. Once again emphasis on Jemma doing it for him.  ****bringing up the sandwiches which in this context really complete the picture of a cute housewife (overkilling it), especially in a season in which it’s visible to everyone how much the writers had Jemma act like she went through NOTHING while being constant emotional support for Fitz and Yoyo. Literally hours after being freed from actual enslavement she’s the one in charge of reminding Fitz they can make it home and giving him hope.  *****when we talk about future Fitz, like present Fitz, we see a genius who is working so hard to fix everything, he’s remembered as the best man his daughter knew. Jemma is there to comfort him even in the flashback of Robin after the end of the world. In a season in which they also forgot that Jemma is a genius, not just a random biochem in there, and could help Fitz with his WORK.  ******finally, the emphasis on ‘I know you can help him’ which yes, it’s given to her because she thinks she’s losing him, but you are telling a woman who is desperate to change the future, to do something good, and has spent the day terrified, crying, almost throwing up, watching a friend being tortured and held at gunpoint because her husband is having a psychotic break, that she WILL help him as long as she doesn’t give up on him now (to take care of herself, for example). This is being said to Jemma Simmons, who was crucified 3 seasons ago for leaving Fitz (in that case for his own good) and the blame for him getting worse was given to her not being there, hence how can she possibly not be on Fitz’s side now?  -bonus, next episode Mack telling her to try to understand Fitz.
if you write with my Jemma, she’s definitely going to be cute and loving, she’s going to bicker for fun, she’s going to offer support, but she also needs support, she’s been hurt and traumatized, she doesn’t need to be given more responsibilities, she needs people to come check on her too and ask her how she’s doing, she’s a GENIUS who can help with lots of tasks, just as smart as Fitz (do you know how hard it is to get 2 phds before age sixteen? especially considering that most require a 1-2 years amount of time regardless of how fast you finish because you need to do a certain number of hours of work divided in those years, so she’d have had to have a first university degree by age 13 to get to that higher level), and should be allowed to have her own space because the person she’s with should also be able to either work on their problems by themselves a little or have other friends too, because you can’t rely on another person alone, who might need time off. I’m ALL for writing her wifey and cute, but it’s not a job, and she’s also supposed to be helpful at work, she gets to have her traumas, her space, and to be doted on too.
anyway I know most rp partners I have agree with this, but I needed to have it written down in a more detailed way than in my rules. I’m not here to write Jemma as hope in human form, or as the wife from old sitcoms. It reminds me of very bad things from real life, people I know who were destroyed by this, and it’s not funny to me.

28 Things to Do With Too Many Tomatoes
At the end of the summer, many gardeners end up with too many tomatoes. Here’s more than two dozen ways to use all those extra tomatoes from your garden.
It’s tomato season! And, I don’t know about you, but my garden’s been working overtime this season. Talk about too much of a good thing!
You're reading: 28 Things to Do With Too Many Tomatoes
Yes, come late-August and September, many gardeners end up with a dozen or two heirloom tomatoes ripening on their kitchen counter, with dozens more cherry, San Marzano, Brandywine, Yellow Pear, and countless other tomato varieties ripening on the vine.
You hate to waste these beauties, but you can’t help wondering…
“What the heck am I gonna do with all these tomatoes?”
Too many tomatoes. Not a bad problem to have, actually. But it can be daunting to find ideas on how to use them all.
Here are 28 ways to use all those extra tomatoes from your garden
While they’re at their peak freshness, no less!
1. Eat them whole
Really! Vine ripened tomatoes are delicious all on their own. You can take a big bite out of one like an apple, or do what my mom always does: slice the tomato into thick slices and sprinkle with salt. Yum!
2. Fresh salsa
3. Cooked salsa
4. Too many tomatoes? Use them as a skin cleanser
Did you know you could clean your face with a tomato? YES, it’s true! (Check out this line of tomato facial products :)) The acids in tomato juice are great for softening and cleaning skin, while the lycopene helps eliminate free radicals.
For oily skin: mix equal parts fresh tomato juice and aloe vera juice.
For dry skin: use a ratio of 1 part tomato juice to 2 parts aloe vera juice.
Rub a tablespoon of this mixture into your face and rinse with warm water.

5. Sunburn relief
Tomatoes are also wonderful at soothing sunburn. If your sunburn is recent and not blistering or peeling, rubbing a slice of tomato on it can lessen the redness. According to this study, eating tomatoes can increase your skin’s natural sun protection. One more reason to eat those beauties!
6. Make your own pasta sauce
Here’s a great homemade pasta sauce recipe you can make using fresh tomatoes. The recipe calls for five pounds of fresh tomatoes, perfect for when you have too many tomatoes!
7. Tomato sandwiches
8. Tomato soup
9. BLT’s
This is one of my favorite ways to use up too many tomatoes. I like making a classic BLT, but there are some really interesting ways of dressing up a BLT that are worth a try.
Consider adding:
Avocado
Cheese
A fried egg
Fresh greens
Onion
Or just turn your BLT into a BLT grilled cheese (and dip it in your homemade tomato soup!).
10. Tomato juice
If you have too many tomatoes, making tomato juice is a great way to use them up. You can use tomato juice in soups, to add flavor to meat, to deodorize a stinky refrigerator, or to make a kick butt Bloody Mary.

11. Tomato paste
12. Grilled bruschetta
Bruschetta is a really easy and tasty way to use too many tomatoes. Plus, when you’re grilling them, you don’t have to heat up the kitchen.
Cut a crusty baguette into slices and toast them on the grill. Then brush with garlic butter or oil. Top with slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella or get adventurous and experiment with additional toppings such as mushrooms, fresh chopped herbs, gorgonzola, zucchini, or prosciutto.
13. Fried green tomatoes
Sometimes tomatoes fall off the vine, or a frost is expected before they ripen. What would you do with too many tomatoes when they’re unripened besides fry them?
How to fry green tomatoes:
Start with slices of green tomato and dip them in an egg bath.
Coat with batter of choice. Being dairy and gluten free, I use a mixture of cornmeal and another gluten free flour.
You could also add buttermilk to the egg mixture for an added level of taste.
Fry the tomatoes in your choice of oil (at roughly 375 degrees) until golden and crispy.
Enjoy!
14. Tomato ketchup
15. Homemade spaghetti sauce
16. Homemade pizza sauce

17. Grill ‘em
Grilled tomatoes are a fun and easy snack for when you have too many tomatoes.
Start with firm tomatoes and slice them in half horizontally
Brush with olive oil.
Grill until grill marks form.
Flip and repeat.
Top with salt.
Enjoy!
18. Marinate ’em
Marinated tomatoes are wonderful and really easy to make. Simply add halved cherry tomatoes, fresh herbs, salt, pepper, and garlic to a jar of olive oil and vinegar and let them sit for several hours or overnight.
19. Freeze ’em
Of course you can freeze cooked tomatoes, but have you ever considered freezing raw tomatoes? You can! It’s a great way to preserve them when you have too many tomatoes. If you are planning on using them for a sauce or stew later, freezing whole raw tomatoes is a fine way to preserve them without putting the work in up front to cook them.
20. Can ’em
Whole, halved, or diced, canning is a great way to preserve tomatoes that doesn’t require electricity to keep (like freezing does). Check out these recipes for canning tomatoes:
Canning Tomatoes
21. Stuffed tomatoes
Another great way to use too many tomatoes but be sure to use sturdy ones.
Slice them in half horizontally and scoop out the inside.
Fill with your choice of filling (breadcrumbs, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, rice and quinoa are some possibilities)
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
22. Tri-colored tomato salad
One of my favorite things about growing produce in the backyard is the variety of tastes and colors. When you have a lot of different colored tomatoes, why not make a tri-colored tomato salad? Chop tomatoes to bite sized pieces and toss with fresh basil, mozzarella, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
23. Dried tomatoes
I’m always amazed at how expensive sun dried tomatoes are at the grocery store, especially when I know I can make them at home for almost nothing. Sun dried tomatoes are great in pasta dishes, hummus, pesto, or omelets. When you dry them there’s no such thing as too many tomatoes! Try this recipe for making sun dried tomatoes at home:

24. Tomato and fruit
Since technically tomatoes are a fruit, why not add them to your fruit salad? Here are a few fun recipes that use fruit and tomatoes:
Fruit Salad with Tomato
Tomato Fruit Gazpacho
Tomato and Fruit Soup
25. Shakshukah
26. Tomato basil garlic butter
What’s great about making flavored butter is that you can easily freeze it for another time. So you can make large batches and have it available all winter. Find the recipe here:
Tomato Basil Garlic Butter
27. Barter or sell them
If you have more tomatoes than you can eat, can, freeze, or dry, why not sell them at a farmer’s market or barter with a friend for something different?
28. Give them away
When all else fails and you still have way too many tomatoes, give them away. It shouldn’t be too difficult to find someone willing to take extra tomatoes off your hands, and it will be a relief to know they aren’t going to waste. You may even be able to donate fresh tomatoes to a local food pantry.
