You know I feel like games like Tokyo debunker and twisted wonderland don’t use mc being sick with the flu while shit is going down as a plot device and that’s so unfortunate. Like can you imagine mc tea in hand watching a show, maybe playing video games, hell sleep for once and there’s an overblot or a really overwhelming investigation going on. I think really the only thing that this would help with developing the story is that it would force the characters to deal with their problems without the support of mc. Sure they may not need mc to battle, but the support mc provides is something the characters miss dearly when the battle is over. Can you imagine one of the guys turning around looking for praise from mc only to realize that mc is not there. And listen could this literally just be what happens when mc returns home or dies? Sure, but it’d be a pretty decent angst/comfort story. I think something that would also make such a plot interesting is if mc had an argument with the character. Anyways really the only issue is that there’s not a lot going on with mc. Sure if there was an argument then the guilt would eat them up inside. But that doesn’t matter because as far as mc knows they’re fine. It would be kinda interesting if mc was a workaholic, and like the staff have to literally pin mc down to prevent them from doing dangerous shit while they’re hardly coherent. But alas these game companies are too pussy to ensure mc has a personality that isn’t super fucking nice. (Also literally no one would willingly deal with the shit these mc’s deal with. So fair… I guess.)

Am I procrastinating cleaning the kitchen? Yes. Am I googling random pieces of Harry Potter lore because I started writing a Thunderbolts Harry Potter AU after not having read the books in at least a year? Also yes. And creating way too much background lore

Writers of Tumblr, listen up! This has probably been said before but I'mma say it again:
Do you feel like you're procrastinating on your current fic by writing down another one because an idea struck you at 2am? No you're not.
Do you feel like you're procrastinating on your current fic because you've been doing school/uni/job work? No you're not, that stuff is more important than how many socks Deku wears on any given day.
Do you feel like you've been procrastinating on your current fic because you just haven't had the energy and all you want to do is binge YouTube videos and eat ice cream? No, you're not, take care of yourself!
Are you down because you've got three WIPs open and can't think of how to fit some scenes together? Don't bother, just keep writing the fun and interesting scenes.
If writing is a fun hobby for you, don't make your fun hobby into a chore.
If writing is your job, don't turn your job into a chore.
We as humans work better when we're enjoying what we're doing - just think back to when you were in school: what lessons do you remember the most of and which ones did you enjoy?
As Star Trek keeps telling us: time isn't linear, it's relative. So why do we have to write things in linear order? No one ever really told us to do that, school systems just assumed it. They said "write a beginning, middle and end, in that order" because it was the easiest and most streamlined approach.
But this is your fic or your book or your assignment, you don't have to write it that way. Write it in the way that the ideas come.
If the opening is hard, write the big fight at the climax. If the connection is eluding you, write the scenes it's supposed to connect between and see what happens. You'll get there, I believe in you <3
At the end of the day, please enjoy writing! Enjoy reading too! If you have kids or know kids, encourage them to read! Little kids especially have a tendency to copy what older people do, so show them books you love.
Don't feel bad because you haven't updated a fic in months. You've been letting the ideas cook and they just have a really long cooking time. Re-read some stuff and maybe some ideas will come up. Listen to music, watch your shows and films, read other books and fics. Go for a walk, even - you can get inspiration from anything.
WIP owners: I believe in you. You can do this! They might sit there and taunt you, or beg to be finished, but if you can't do it right now then you can't do it right now and you should take a break. Save it, close it, do something else. Come back to it when you're ready.

I don’t understand if I’m lazy or in survival mode or just chilling
To give you more background, I procrastinate a lot. And even worse, the routines I set up or say I want to set up I never do or complete them.
For example, it might literally be taking vitamin D daily and I know it’s good for me and I should do it but I never do, I might take it for three days and then stop caring subconsciously I guess cause then I stop. Or I keep saying I wanna learn to produce music, I’ve been wanting this for years and now I have the means to do it and for some reason I just don’t.. I have the program on my pc but I’m sitting on the couch scrolling tumblr or having Netflix on. Even self care, I need to put my nightly cream on and I just don’t do it.
Honestly I don’t know if it’s that I don’t actually care or I’m lazy or chill or in survival mode. I don’t think it’s that I don’t care because then I wouldn’t be immensed in guilt, I wouldn’t be trying to find out why I don’t do it, I wouldn’t be writing this ask.
Am I lazy? I guess I’ve always been low energy - but is that out of laziness? Idk
Am I chilling? Ofc I’m a chill person but there’s a difference between being chill and being nonchalant right?
I’m getting closer and closer to survival mode, but if it’s that how do I solve it? How do I escape? Can I do it even with having things trigger me? What are the steps to it?
I’ll be grateful to get your opinion on what’s happening
Hey sweetie, I recommend this video which answers your question in a nutshell. xoxo
