Eldrich to Tumblr but new to having a writblr. I started this blog because I am trying to practice the philosophy, 'Everyday's a good day to write' and I wanted a space to be joyful, strange, and prolific.

Imagine you're me, sourcing a catering place for an office event and you stumble across the real life donut shop, Cafe Knotted
And you're losing your mind, long before you get to "not-too-sweet cream."
So, you keep scrolling (obvs) and discover that most of their food pics are...uh...
Oh look, there's a Christmas themed ad...
Anyway, I think the only way forward is to make an order and see if I can smoke out any Tumblr users in my office
#I don't read/write fic for k-pop k-drama or omega verse but it is my ardent hope that all you who do are aware of this donut shop#omegaverse#fanfic#Dionysian nonsense

Is anyone else being followed by blogs that act/vibe weirdly like they're pornbots but they look and post sort of in the same fashion as normal Tumblr blogs? Like a wolf in sheep clothing but the 'wolf' is a bot and the 'sheep' is pretending to be a regular sheep at the furry convention.
#I feel like I'm going crazy but It's happened a few times and I don't think these blogs are people?#pornbots#bots

Today at Pemberley, The 8th of August:
As the activity of the last several weeks had required tremendous effort from Pemberley’s staff, a schedule was made to give each exhausted servant some well-deserved rest and personal time. The house was therefore unusually quiet, devoid of the typical daily bustle.
The family too chose calm pursuits. Miss Georgiana Darcy opened a recently received music-book and practiced several songs therein. Mr. Darcy visited the hounds, and speculated with the gamekeeper on the number of grouse they should expect for this upcoming shooting season.
Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy wandered off through the grounds with a letter that arrived just after breakfast from her sister, Mrs. Bingley. She walked down the winding path through the coppice-wood to a section of particularly tall growth.
Pemberley’s gardener, knowing how Mrs. Darcy loved the grounds, had warned her that it would be time to cut and harvest this section in the coming winter. She had thus resolved to visit her favorite shaded square of grass in the middle of the tall wood as frequently as she could. And consequently, she today lay in her grass, read her letter, and dozed in the fading warmth that marked the approaching end of Summer.

Today at Pemberley, The 7th of August:
The Darcys bid farewell to the Earl Fitzwilliam and Lord Charles today. Miss Georgiana Darcy was disheartened to see her uncle go and elicited from him promises that he should return soon for a longer visit.
The Earl gave Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy his every compliment and said, “Pemberley was too long without a lady of the house. You have brought a joy and kindness here that I heartily approve of. I think I should say as much to my sister the next time I see her.”
With a playfulness to her smile, Mrs. Darcy agreed, “That will surely provide as much conversation as anyone could want.”
Lord Charles also paid Mrs. Darcy many compliments and expressed his great pleasure at having met her. In fact, his compliments and pleasures became more profuse and detailed the longer he spoke to her.
Until, Mr. Darcy cut in with a pointed, “Yes, dear cousin. Good-bye. We will all miss you but would not dream of keeping you from London a moment longer.”
With a teasing tip of his hat to Mr. Darcy, Lord Charles joined his father in the carriage and they set off.

Today at Pemberley, The 6th of August:
Dinner was an elaborate series of courses, as it was to be the final one of the Earl Fitzwilliam’s and Lord Charles’s visit. Tomorrow after breakfast they plan to make their way to London. Both gentlemen seemed excited to return to town despite expressing genuine regret to be leaving Pemberley.
“It is my favorite time of year to be in London,” the Earl explained, his pronouncement earning a noise of surprise from Mrs. Darcy.
“I should expect the city would be quite emptied of society this time of year?” her tone was questioning.
“That is what I like most about it!”
Mr. Darcy raised his glass in salute, causing both Mrs. Darcy and Lord Charles to make expressions of disagreement.
“You are both being ridiculous,” Lord Charles said. “There are few greater delights in life than good company.”
Mr. Darcy replied, “Just because company is plentiful does not mean it is good.”

Today at Pemberley, The 5th of August:
A letter arrived addressed to Mr. Darcy, ostensibly, from his mother-in-law. However, Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy knowing her mother not to be a great letter writer, took the letter from her husband and examined the handwriting thoroughly.
“Mary has written this,” she declared. “Though she may well have done so as my mother dictated it’s contents.”
She offered Mr. Darcy the letter, but he made a dismissive hand motion. “You open it.”
Mrs. Darcy did so. She read quickly through it, her expression captive between two conflicting sentiments: humor and horror.
“Indeed these are my mother’s words. Mary has, of course, added her thoughts on them between her faithful transcriptions. Jane must have mentioned in a letter of her own that the Earl is visiting Pemberley, for my mother expounds at length on what an honor it is. She also asks if any of your cousins are in want of a wife. Mary has written something about the godliness and virtue of marriage. Kitty is apparently visiting friends but my mother assures us that she could be retrieved if we should want her sent to us while your cousin is here.
“My mother goes on to lament how long it has been since I was last at Longbourn and how she should like for all her neighbors to have a chance to be reacquainted with me now that I am so well settled. She has made similar sentiments known to Jane.
"Mary adds that she is certain my father also misses me, though she has not had the opportunity to ask him if he has a message for me as he has not left his library since breakfast.”
Having reached the end of her summary, Mrs. Darcy folded the letter and returned it to her husband.
“So, all is the usual at Longbourn, then,” he said.

Inscrutable storytime: recently, I badly sprained my knee (again) and it was healed enough to stop wearing the brace but still wobbly. A friend recommended kinesthetic tape (side note: Ktape is bomb)
This stuff:
And the first time I saw my dad after I started wearing it, he took one look at my knee and said, "Your knee. You're Murderbot!"
I asked him to clarify.
Dad said, "You look like Murderbot."
This went on for a while and at no point would my dad elaborate on what he meant. He was very confident that it was obvious that I looked like Murderbot.

The page ruffle is in progress and is tremendous good, silly fun
Peacock Edition progress report: I gave it this side panel with funny pleats meant to evoke the page edge of the book

I'm going to print more pages from the actual book onto the sheer fabric and give it a soft ruffle of printed pages.

Today at Pemberley, The 4th of August:
The Darcys hosted many of their friends and neighbors for Lord Charles’s chemical lecture. It was a boisterous affair with Lord Charles demonstrating how the mining process produced methane gas and then further emphasizing the gas’s combustable properties when mixed with oxygen by having a volunteer from his audience release a container of the gas on an open flame, creating a substantial eruption of fire in the air.
Lord Charles then presented his new design of lamp which utilized an iron gauze to isolate the flame of the lamp from the atmosphere around it. The experiment was met with enthusiastic applause that clearly delighted Lord Charles.
After the lecture, refreshments were served and those in attendance had the opportunity to speak the Lord Charles and the Earl Fitzwilliam, which was no doubt a significant part of the appeal of the event.
Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy was surprised to discover that The Buxtons, particularly Mrs. Buxton frequented Lord Charles’s lectures at The Royal Institution.
Mrs. Darcy apologized for her surprise, explaining, “I would have thought chemistry held little fascination for you.”
Mrs. Buxton waved a dismissive hand. “I think anyone could discover an interest in the abstruse academia of natural philosophy if one’s guide is quite so excessively handsome and entertaining as Lord Charles constantly demonstrates himself to be.” Mrs. Buxton was here laughing as Mrs. Darcy looked at her in disbelief. “Lizzy, you can not disagree with me.”
“Oh, but I can,” Mrs. Darcy replied, “and I most assuredly do.”

Today at Pemberley, The 3rd of August:
Today the Earl Fitzwilliam and Lord Charles were to visit the mines, leaving shortly after breakfast and not returning until dinner. The Earl rose from his bed early and spent the hours before breakfast lingering in a quiet parlor where many of the furnishings removed from Pemberley’s largest room were being stored to safe guard them from the impending chemistry lecture.
Mr. Darcy joined him there, finding his uncle assessing a large portrait of a young woman who held a spaniel dog in her lap. “That is the late countess, is it not?” Mr. Darcy said. “My mother was never fond of the painting, though it is of a fine quality.”
The Earl seemed amused by Mr. Darcy’s words. He explained, “It is not a very good likeness. None of the portraits of our mother are.”
“Why is that?”
“Vanity,” was the Earl’s blunt response. “You should have heard her give instructions to the painters. I have heard sermons which were shorter. That was when she was young. Once she was in her later years, she resolutely opposed any attempt to have her portrait taken.”
They fell silent for a time. Then the Earl asked, “Have you commissioned a portrait of your Elizabeth yet?”
“No,” Mr. Darcy confessed, sounding surprised by his own answer. “That is a significant oversight on my part.”
“You should have one made sooner rather than later,” the Earl advised. Glancing at his own reflection in a nearby mirror, he added, “You will both be my age before you know what has happened. Your descendants should know how young and handsome you once were.”

Today at Pemberley, The 2nd of August:
Word that Lord Charles planned to give a lecture on chemistry was well received by Pemberley’s neighboring families with The Darcys being given many thanks for their willingness to host. Among those who went to London for the season, several had previously attended one of Lord Charles’ lectures and their accounts stoked enthusiasm for the event.
As the Earl Fitzwilliam and Lord Charles intended to visit the mines tomorrow and collect information as to how their new design of lamp has faired under practical use, the lecture would not take place until the day after. However, Pemberley’s housekeeper, Mrs. Reynolds was already preparing the largest room for use during the lecture.
Mrs. Reynold’s preparations largely consisted of exchanging the favored furnishings of the room for those held in lesser esteem as she had been informed that Lord Charles intended to demonstrate methane gas’s combustable qualities. Hard on the heels of that revelation, she had learned that commonly Lord Charles’s lectures in London included explosions of all sorts and she had begun to plan accordingly.
