I feel like Sarah was squealing when she finally gave Lucien a true mate after what he went through with Jesminda.
Then went into a period of mourning a short time after once she realized she had to stop talking about him so she could distract readers in order to make them question the certainty of an Elucien endgame.
I imagine she's going to be so excited to finally give Elain and Lucien their HEA together after so much time.

"Elain is hurting two men at the same time😒☹️"
😐😐😐
Good God… Once again another man's action is being ignored and we blame the woman. No, Elain isn't hurting anyone, she's actually the hurtee here… Idk if it's a word or not lol. Azriel is the one who's hurting 2 people here, Lucien and Elain. He's being selfish and arrogant, having a one-sided beef with a person who doesn't even acknowledge his existence. He's hurting Lucien, all the while he knows and has grown up with the concept of mating bond. He's claiming a woman who doesn't like to be claimed and be treated as an object.
And Elain? Elain is hurting. She's still having a hard time accepting that she's now a fae and not a human, she's trying to ignore it as best as she can. So accepting or even acknowledging Lucien would mean she has moved on and is becoming agreeable to her situation. And Azriel, who Feyre has described him looking like a human around Elain, with his round ears and his shadow's recoiling from Elain, makes her feel more at ease. She's taking refuge in Azriel's presence to feel as close as she's able, to the normality she knows. And what a refuge he was, calling her "a mistake" several times and one time to her face and leaving her alone without an explanation.
And yes Lucien might be (definitely is) hurting from Elain's actions but it's all a reaction to his biological, his shared bond with her. He's not emotionally attachd to her. Lucien also lost a loved one who he thought might be his mate. He's been living for centuries with the idea of his mate being dead, so he didn't expect to have one at all. He's probably cautious around this bond as much as Elain because accepting her means letting the idea of his former lover go. But Lucien is one step ahead of Elain. While she's determined to ignore this bond and never try anything with him (for now), Lucien is ready to take action and try (as long as she agrees). So he would come to see her when he's invited, bring her gifts and wait… he waits, keeps his distance, and doesn't demand anything. He never put a claim on her and never disrespected her boundaries. Now do you think this male, would ever be mad at Elain for perusing another male?
We see Rhysand, knowing Feyre is his mate and he still was ready to let her go. He would let her be as long as he knew she was happy and she was loved. He would see her being married to the love of her life, even if he's not that person. The same goes with Lucien. He won't be mad at Elain for trying with another person, on the contrary, he would let her. But he will be mad at Azriel for his behaviour toward Elain, for staking a claim on her, for knowing she's a mated woman and he still perused her and disrespected the bond Azriel himself put in such high regard. He will be mad at him for speaking for Elain and thinking he knows what's good for her and what is not without asking or consulting her.
So you see Elain is not the problem here, never was. But most of the fandoms would rather take the male's side and pamper him because of their low standards for the male characters. All the while, the female character should never feel emotional, be angry, confused or selfish. She should be a perfect doll for the male character, being considered, selfless and always being on her best behaviour.
Just like how society behave toward women...

Since the lovely Sarah J Maas said that Elain and Lucien had “tension, growth, and healing” to be found together— @amandapearls and I wanted a piece of art that really showed the tension between these two characters.
Ekilateral.art did a wonderful job, and nailed this concept flawlessly!
Thank you Kelly for this stunning artwork of Elain and Lucien. They look exactly how I imagined them in the books. Just beautiful artwork!
Commissioned by myself and @amandapearls
PS- Sorry this is a couple days early. I’ll be traveling on Day 7 of Elucien Week and wanted to post it before then.

A prince climbing up the balcony for a chance to earn a gentle kiss from his princess.
This is my first ever commission and I cannot thank poppypola_ enough for this stunning work. The vision was the balcony scene near the end of the film ‘Letters to Juliet,’ where Charlie climbed the balcony in an act to reach Sophie after a slight misunderstanding. Elain and Lucien are incredibly regency coded and their romance is no different—fleeting looks, careful touches, and quiet kisses in her garden with roguish humor and playful blushes.

Elain Archeron Week: Strength
Tumblr media
“𝓓𝓸𝓷'𝓽 𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓰𝓪𝓻𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓷 𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓾𝓵𝓽𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓼𝓸𝓶𝓮𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓹𝓻𝓮𝓽𝓽𝔂, 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓲𝓽 𝓲𝓷𝓿𝓸𝓵𝓿𝓮𝓼 𝓰𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓷𝓮'𝓼 𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓼 𝓭𝓲𝓻𝓽𝔂 𝓪𝓵𝓸𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓪𝔂."
Art by the very talented gracerstudios and commissioned by me. I loved working with you and adore your portrayal of Elain 💖
Elain has shown her strength many times throughout the series, whether through surviving the Cauldron, seeing the good and finding the beauty in dark times, or protecting those she cares about by kicking hounds in the face or stabbing a king through the neck. I think one of the biggest ways we’ll see Elain show her strength in her book is by standing up for herself and her right to choose. In ACOSF, we saw a glimpse of this when Elain stood up to Nesta after she forbid Elain from going near the Cauldron. I’d love to see Elain defy those orders and explore her powers, proving how capable she is to all of those around her.
We also saw Elain stand up against the concept of mating bonds in ACOWAR when she declared she belongs to no one. I think this could lead to Elain defying fate in her book as she decides who she wants to spend her life with. Elain grabbing the thread of her mating bond in this piece represents that choice. Standing up against society’s expectations and following her heart would be an amazing display of strength for a woman groomed to be nothing more than a pretty face to be married off as an advantageous match for her family. Whatever she decides, I’m so excited to see Elain stand up for what she wants and show that only she knows what’s best for herself.

It's finished!! This is basically a continuation of My Elucien waterfall piece
I'm still rusty with trying to get my painting back right, but this was totally fun to do!
Elain and Lucien would absolutely be the kind of people to make love in nature, and getting fun in water? Oh yeah!!!

I was wondering what made me so mad at Azriel in his BC, and besides all the points we all made before, I think what struck me most is... that we didn't get to know anything more about Elain. He didn't name one single character trait or a cute quirk of hers. Nothing about her beautiful eyes, her gentle nature, her fun side. Even though I don't enjoy E/riel at all, I was ready to get to know just one little piece of her true self. I didn't get it.
But we did get a mention of Gwyn's charming irreverence, descriptions of her eyes, and all these lovely things. That made me sad for Elain because Azriel is capable of noticing these things. Just not in her.
Free my girl. Let someone truly SEE her.

Imagine if you had a friend with a crush.
Imagine if she decided to stop pursuing that crush in December.
Imagine if 5 months went by and there was absolutely no indication that she liked him any longer. No reaction to his presence (good or bad), no looks - just complete indifference.
Then imagine if you insisted that she still had a crush on him, you were extremely forceful in telling everyone around you that she still wanted him despite her returning the gift he got her which should be a clear indication of her decision to move on especially considering she's got absolutely zero connection to this person, zero ties to him any longer after returning everything he gave her - the way she would if she shared a mating bond with him, still had his jacket, still accepts every one of his gifts (because no matter Elain's declaration that she didn't want a mate or her refusing to speak to Lucien, she accepts his gifts and has not formally rejected their bond - both which do send mixed signals).
That's E/riels when it comes to Elain currently having feelings for Az.
5 MONTHS. 5 months and not a single glance his way, not a single sentence where Nesta noted Elain being sad, not even a single mention of Elain shooting daggers Az's way. 5 months and plenty of opportunities where Elain and Az were both on page at the same time yet Sarah gave no indication of any interest on her part, no irritation, no hesitation, nothing. Instead Elain stood with Helion at Starfall. Instead Elain was at Mor's side when Feyre and Nyx nearly lost their lives.
Could Sarah write that changing in the next book? Sure! Just like Sarah could still write Elain wanting Lucien in the next book. However based on where we're currently at Elain does not want Az. Sarah stopped her character from having any further interactions with him once Elain returned his necklace, a clear signal of her being done. Sarah stopped her character from even having "open to debate" interactions with him the way she did with Lucien (i.e., the reason for why Elain shrank back into herself is still open to interpretation regardless of E/riels being convinced it's a negative thing. Sarah's writing has provided enough scenarios where a FMC is overwhelmed by the feelings of want that she has around her mate to make this a plausible explanation).
As it stands, Elain and Az have no further business together compared to Elain and Lucien since a decision about their bond has not been made.
If she wants, Sarah could easily never delve into Elain and Az's interactions again where we know she will have to have Elain and Lucien communicate.
And it's clear that after the snowball fight Az didn't take long to turn his attention towards a certain redhead what with the admiration and encouragement he had shining in his face for her. His anger over being told to stay away from Elain lasted a total of 3 days (anger that probably had nothing to do with actually wanting a future with Elain and simply because he doesn't like being told what to do).
