Right-wing media figures were quick to use a video shared by an official Republican National Committee social media account in order to continue their attacks on President Biden over his age and accuse him of “experiencing a serious mental decline.”

An official RNC social media account shared a video purporting to show Biden “freeze” on stage while attending a fundraising event

RNC Research, a social media account of the RNC’s rapid response team, shared a video and claimed it showed Biden “freeze” on stage before being led away. The video was originally captured by The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner and shows Biden and former President Barack Obama waving and gesturing to a crowd during a fundraising event, with Gardner noting the pair offered “final waves to Peacock Theater crowd as Obama then grabs Biden’s hand to lead him offstage following 40-minute conversation with Jimmy Kimmel.” [Twitter/X, 6/16/24, 6/16/24]

The Daily Beast noted that the video features Biden and Obama “taking in the crowd’s cheers” and that the clip captured by Gardner and posted by the RNC did not include “most of the lead-up to the seemingly innocuous moment.” The publication further noted, “After they wave to the applauding crowd for nearly a minute, Obama reaches out and gently touches Biden on the arm before they walk off stage together.” White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates also pushed back on the RNC’s characterization of the video, claiming that Biden was rather “taking in an applauding crowd for a few seconds.” [The Daily Beast, 6/16/24; Twitter/X, 6/16/24]

The RNC Research social media account has a history of promoting misleadingly presented or edited videos of Biden to push claims that he is in physical and mental decline and unfit to continue serving as president. Notably, within the last two weeks the RNC Research account has shared a misleadingly edited video of Biden during a D-Day memorial event, which they claimed showed him “pooping or sitting on an invisible chair,” as well as a separate video that was reportedly doctored to show Biden supposedly wandering off during a G7 meeting. Right-wing media outlets and RNC Research once again use a doctored video to renew bad-faith attacks about President Joe Biden’s age and cognitive abilities.

Canucks Coffee: The Elias Pettersson vibes are good (Patrick Johnston)

If you’re looking for Elias Pettersson’s return to superstar form, the clues shown to the media after Saturday’s 2-1 Canucks win over the Maple Leafs are very, very positive.

Not only did Pettersson play a strong, confident game — my goodness that pass to Hronek — but his post-game demeanour spoke volumes. This was a night-and-day shift from the deeply unhappy, deeply oppositional figure we’d been dealing with over the past 12 months.

In September, early in training camp, I’d jokingly said “happy new year” to him and he’d snapped “happy new year?!” Then there were the multiple attempts by reporters to sidle up to him and see if they could smooth the waters, as one does when a player is struggling. He was resistant to all overtures.

That all appears to be gone.

The cloud that was hanging over him disappeared on Saturday night. Not only did he do a scrum with the TV cameras post-game, but he also happily spoke with multiple reporters one-on-one, taking at least another five minutes beyond the scrum to answer any and all questions thrown his way in the moment.

He was laughing and joking. Gave serious consideration to his answers. There was no desire to be anywhere else.

It’s one night, but this is the player we used to see in the room. Here’s hoping it carries forward.

todays prompt was 4 panel comic and I mixed it up with, reap what you sow, immortal and thunder.

At the end Error took care of Pepper Jam and Gradient even when he was against it lol, I always tought that at the start he put them on hamster balls cause he didn´t want to touch them. It is my first time drawing PJ and Gradient but it was quite fun and I loved how they turned out all cute. ^^

Sincerely, this scene is incredibly well-written and shows us a lot about Beret Girl, and by extension, PJ.

Let's go over what we know about Beret Girl before this scene.

Poet. Not only a poet, but a performer. Beret Girl values self-expression. This, and she also seems very introspective and self-aware. Beret Girl writes about the experience of living, how many contradictions it may have, and how its fleeting nature causes her to cherish it.

"Don't you dare waste my time, because life can stop on a dime."

Beret Girl does not tolerate any disrespect. She seeks out authenticity and sensitivity, which is why she sides with Max over Bradley Uppercrust III in their first interaction. She sees these people being harassed and instantly takes their side.

Going forward, Bradley proceeds to demean her with assumptions based on her clothing and her hobbies. 'Little Miss Mochaccino' and, the noteworthy,

"Why don't you go off and save the whales or something?"

Beret Girl has probably felt overlooked and gotten this kind of treatment many times throughout her life, so when seeing it happen to others, she hops to their defense. After all, life is fleeting, and she refuses to let this waste her time. Also why she rejects Bobby.

Intentionally or not, Bobby goes in with a very cheap, shallow pickup line. Beret Girl doesn't bite because she wants more than that. As an artist, one creates for themselves, but they also appreciate people to truly engage with their work.

When PJ is given a chance, though, he unironically does the best things he can do.

"It is endemic of the current culture that those with large stature are overlooked, except by vultures."

PJ feels that he is often overlooked, something that Beret Girl clearly relates to. Not only that, he expresses vulnerability to her while also showing that he picked up on her own sympathies.

This doesn't even mention his backstory that we, the audience, know. That he feels pressured by his father and is often written off as just a funny guy with no depth.

"With no regard to the depths of their souls, the height of their passion, the beauty of their moments."

Not only is PJ very articulate, he shows that he also desires an outlet to express himself and be heard, a very human desire that's clearly felt by Beret Girl. He's very introspective and sees things for the bigger picture, while also cherishing every moment he gets in life.

Bobby didn't know all that much about Beret Girl either, but he opened with a pickup line. PJ opened with an expression of his feelings to introduce himself and as an invitation for her to share her own.

He's sincere, vulnerable, and honest. Those of you trying to rizz up a Beret Girl, be a PJ. I cannot stress enough how good this is.

Kit Lyrical Breakdown

So Boreas is a song on my Kit playlist and while it’s also there because it’s the kind of music Kit likes let me breakdown how she relates to the song

With my back on the floor. Cold linoleum icing my growing pains

Two ways I associate these lines with Kit

1. Closer to the original intention of the lyric. She’s trained hard all day. She’s worked herself to the bone. The cold floor is a relief to her aching muscles not only from the work she’s done but because she’s growing. She’s still a child.

2. The cold incident. She’s convincing herself that it has a purpose. That this suffering she’s going through is only to make her better, to make her grow. The cold is her growing pain.

Watch the ceiling fan turn its shape again

A ceiling fan is a constant cycle. Kit’s life continues in these constant cycles. She has the same training. She has the same pattern of getting hurt by Gunntech and justifying it.

My threads are coming loose

But these lies she’s weaved for herself can only stand so much wear. During the run of the show her faith in the company is waning.

Yeah, I'm one spoon away. From setting the ends of my hair on fire. If I'm kindling for a little while. At least I'd feel of use

Kit’s destructive desire to be of use to people. She wants approval and has kept herself in harmful scenarios to receive it.

Kits desire to be something greater than what she is. She wants to prove herself. To be something greater than just kindling.

And my body'd breathe life into the corners Be a darker soil

Kit desires to help people. She wants to bring life, bring joy to others. To fuel others like dark soil fuels plants

Making lists, folding laundry Keeping tidy with my radio show I'd be lying if I told you I'm keeping tidy anymore

Once again reflects her tendency to be useful. She takes up little tasks whenever possible. Little ways to earn affection

Yeah, I swing from believing That maybe my working will all pay off.

Kit believes that in the end that everything she does, everything she goes through will be worth it in the end. She’ll have earned affection. She’ll be useful. The world will be safer and better because of what she went through.

To considering drinking with Molotov. I'm halfway out the door

Reflects destroying everything and leaving it all behind. Which unlike this lyric isn’t something Kit considers often

Promise me That you'll start where I end And I promise to give you Everything that I am

Promise to cover up her faults. Promise to take her in and be with her despite her faults. And Kit will show you undying loyalty. She will give almost anything for Gunntech, she’ll give everything for her friends.

Once again the consistent schedule. Her consistent ties to Gunntech.

In the end All I hope for. Is to be a bit of warmth for you. When there's not a lot of warmth left To go around

In the end if she could be anything she’d want to be a bright spot. She wants to make people happy, make people feel safe. She’d like to be warmth
