Khelif’s Trainer Confirms “Problem With Chromosomes” As Spanish National Boxing Team Commissioner Reveals That Khelif Was Considered Too Dangerous To Train Against Women
"Shocking news out of the Olympic boxing controversy as the Technical Commissioner of the Spanish boxing team reveals that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was reportedly considered too dangerous for women to train against during a boxing retreat in Spain.
Speaking to Radio Marca, former Olympian boxer and Olympic boxing trainer Rafa Lozano, revealed that he thought the inclusion of Khelif in the women’s category was unjust and dangerous to females. “I don’t see it as fair. Everyone can think what they want, but that’s how I see it,” Lozano said, recalling his observations of the Algerian during a training retreat at the sport centre CAR Blume in Madrid.
“They were doing a retreat at Blume and we couldn’t put her with anyone. We put [Khelif] with Jennifer Fernandez and it hurt her. Whoever we put [Khelif] with was injured.”
Lozano says that to avoid further injury to the women, the coaches ended up pairing Khelif up with Jose Quiles, who is one of Spain’s top male boxers, during the retreat. Quiles, 26 and one of Spain’s top boxers, was considered a more equitable match for Khelif to spar against, with Lozano noting that Khelif was only “even” after being matched against the man..."

Isn't imane intersex not trans
Yep.
But I do agree with the radical feminists who are drawing links between DSD athletes and transgender athletes (while not calling Khelif transgender), because the presence of both in female athletics is indicative of broader problems (the way sports are generally designed for males, the way sports bodies can't decide what 'female' means, the way that coaches and bodies are incentivised to push males in female categories, etc).
#i commented that khelif was a DSD male and the idiot gendies are all like 'but algeria doesn't allow gender changes fascist' (no joke)#it's a sad day when a group can't even be the centre of its own scandal#anon#imane khelif#paris olympics#olympics 2024

Christen Press Is Determined to Reimagine the Way Female Athletes Are Seen
For two-time World Cup winner Christen Press, who made her debut in the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2013, it’s no surprise that women’s sports have been having their moment—both before and throughout these Paris Summer Olympics.
Press, along with her teammate and partner Tobin Heath, have bet big on the public’s love of women’s sports. The duo launched their podcast, The Re-Cap Show, during the 2023 Women’s World Cupthe highest attended in history. It wasn’t their first foray into entrepreneurship in the women’s sports space; they are co-CEOs of Re-Inc, a global community for sports fans and changemakers, which launched ahead of the 2019 World Cup. The Re-Cap Show has amassed a dedicated online fan base, with video clips circulated among Re-Inc's 49,000 YouTube subscribers and 123,000-strong Instagram following.
On The Re-Cap Show, the duo bring fans behind the scenes of professional women’s soccer, both at the international level and in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). They debrief games with high-profile guests such as defender Ali Krieger, previous national team head coach Jill Ellis, current national team captain at the Olympics Lindsey Horan, and Angel City FC co-founder Kara Nortman. Press and Heath also break down and share their own perspectives on buzzy topics like scandals in the NWSL, what it’s like to date your teammate, and the recent cheating saga with the Canadian team.
Press and Heath launched Season 3 of the podcast in June, just in time to document the national soccer team’s journey at the Paris Summer Olympics. For Press—who returned to the pitch for Angel City FC on Thursday for the first time in over two years, after four surgeries to repair her torn ACL—it's up to women’s media to meet this moment and capitalize on it.
TIME delved into the Olympics, The Re-Cap Show, and why this moment in women’s sports is so important during a video interview with Press.
TIME: The momentum for women’s sports right now is immense. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese enjoyed record-breaking performances in the NCAA last year, and the WNBA opened their 2024 season with their highest attendance in 26 years. This is also the first Olympics with gender parity. How is all of this impacting the way you cover the Paris Olympics with The Re-Cap Show?
Press: You're spot-on that women's sports are having insane momentum right now. For us, all the attention has really increased our mission to reimagine the way women are seen and experienced in sports. We started our show during the World Cup because we’re women soccer players, and that's when we committed to turning on a spotlight [and] never turning it off.
But the Olympics is this huge opportunity to inspire and reveal what's already there: lots of leagues, athletes, and players that are doing their job all-year round, but they get to be at the highest stage this summer. From a business perspective, [it’s about] bringing those supporters, fans, and community members into the women's sports world, which is the most inclusive, diverse, and interesting community that uses sport as a vehicle for change.
Take us back to creating Re-Inc with your teammates Tobin Heath, Megan Rapinoe, and Meghan Klingenberg. How far have you all come since then?
We started Re-Inc in 2019 with a single T-shirt before we went to the World Cup and it said “Liberté, Égalité, Défendez.” It was a play on the French motto [“Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”] as we had headed to France, so we switched the word “fraternity” to “defend” because as the U.S. Women's National Team, we were defending our title, but we were also defending the principles of liberty and equality.
But since then, it’s grown into a community. Watching women play sports is an act of revolution. Not so long ago, women were not allowed to play sports, and until recently, we were not paid to play sports or paid very well. And so I think as women's sports get heightened, it is just the living and breathing symbol of progress in society that women can rise and be stars on the court and on the field. With launching our media division, we saw how the coverage was failing to represent the lifestyle and culture of us, and it was just a copy and paste from the men's side. The broadcast and the commentary was so off-putting that it was spoiling the sport for us. No one knew how to talk about gal culture.
What kinds of commentary were you used to hearing while you were playing with the U.S. Women’s National Team?
Sometimes, when I'm watching people commentate, I feel like they’re a kindergarten teacher explaining the basics of soccer with the assumption that the person who's watching has no idea what they’re watching.
I think there's a lot that needs to be improved. Also, when it comes to addressing social issues and the institutional prejudice that happens within sports, especially how we talk about Black athletes… The media should make sure you're seeing this vision of a woman athlete in a way that can be a badass—not self-conscious, but laughing loud and really proud of her success. So I think all of those lifestyle and social issues are baked into the game.
And then obviously, as the game grows, we're going to have more expertise and fundamental knowledge and that will just make the broadcast so much better. Part of why the Olympics is so great is because you get the best—the best commentators, the best camera angles—and that's another reason why people will fall in love with all the sports, since it's not, you know, just an iPhone shot of the last 50 meters of a race.
Your former teammate Kelley O’Hara is working with Just Women's Sports. Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird are bringing back their podcast, A Touch More, and your former teammate Sam Mewis is also hosting her own show, The Women’s Game. Why do you think this is the moment where so many female athletes are working in media?
I haven't heard of another market that people are talking about that is successful right now, other than AI and women's sports. I feel very proud to have started this business five years ago and kind of be positioned as ready for the moment as opposed to reacting to the moment. As athletes, we're all inspiring each other and the businesses that are cropping up are inspired by a desire for all of us to raise the game and continue to have an impact. I'm very proud to be about it, to be a part of it, and to be alongside pioneering women. I think the competition is healthy, and it's necessary. It pushes us and I love that.
Many people view women’s sports as a sacred, safe space—something you talk a lot about on your podcast. Is there any fear that as the women’s game becomes more popular and more fans join, that other energies will enter into the space?
I always say the air gets thinner at the top. I think women's sports is a very diverse, inclusive space. And I actually know that members of the community feel very protective of the space. We have our membership community and our members often speak about protecting the space. There will always be challenges as it gets more mainstream.
That’s why I love doing our show: every week, we're talking about the challenges. We’re talking about how the women's sports community feels about someone's bigoted comment or someone who misrepresented them. And it's a two-way dialogue. I think that's really essential to maintain the integrity.
I remember when the social media scandal with midfielder Korbin Albert—who’s currently on the Olympic roster—came out earlier this year. You and Tobin went straight into talking about it. I think a lot of fans were curious to hear from you about it.
It was hard to talk about that, because we were afraid of someone just clipping a tiny piece of the conversation and, like, missing all the nuance and kind of misconstruing our language, but we thought it was important enough to do it anyway. Nuance is something that's consistently missing from the echo chambers.
What are you hoping the Olympics brings to the world of women’s sports?
Kara Nortman, who is the co-founder of Angel City, always tells a story that she was at the 2015 Women’s World Cup, and was completely moved and inspired by us winning. Then, she came home to try to watch us play, and couldn’t find any games, and she couldn't find jerseys. That’s why she started a women's soccer team. I think that story is so beautiful, because it really emulates what's so special at the Olympics.
I think there's a huge opportunity to uplift sports—even the sports that aren't as popular as women's soccer—and for people to go home and become lifelong fans.

FIFA took six points away from Canada in the Olympic women's soccer standings and banned three coaches for one year amid a drone-spying scandal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. News of the decision follows the Canadian Olympic Committee's move to oust the women's national soccer team head coach, Bev Priestman, for the remainder of the Paris Olympic games after the New Zealand Olympic Committee filed a formal complaint about a drone spotted filming its women's soccer team practicing on July 22. Local police detained the alleged drone operator, Joseph Lombardi, described as an "unaccredited analyst with Canada Soccer," who subsequently received an eight-month suspended jail sentence and was sent home along with assistant coach Jasmine Mander.

UN official calls for female-only sports categories after women athletes lose 890 medals to trans opponents: report
Female athletes have also sustained serious injuries such as knocked-out teeth, concussions, broken legs, and skull fractures from their transgender opponents, as per the report.
A new study revealed that trans-identified biological men competing in women's sports has resulted in the loss of 890 medals by over 600 female athletes across 29 different sports, although experts said the numbers are likely much higher.
The shocking data comes from a recent report published by Reem Alsalem, the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls, who issued an official recommendation of banning men from competing in women's sports. The report was presented to the UN General Assembly on Oct. 8, which included a plethora of written and in-person evidence. She advised that there needs to be a protected female-only category to ensure the safety of female athletes and fairness at all levels, as reported by Sex Matters.
Alsalem called on the assembly to ensure that "female categories in organized sport are exclusively accessible to persons whose biological sex is female." She said that new sporting categories need to be created for athletes who want to compete opposite their birth sex or have the men's category be made available to all competitors.
The UN official stated that athletes should not be forced to lower testosterone levels in order to compete in any category. She also said that sports bodies should not subject athletes to invasive sex screenings.
"In cases where the sex of an athlete is unknown or uncertain, a dignified, swift, non-invasive and accurate sex screening method (such as a cheek swab) or, where necessary for exceptional reasons, genetic testing should be applied to confirm the athlete's sex. In non-professional sports spaces, the original birth certificates for verification may be appropriate. In some exceptional circumstances, such tests may need to be followed up by more complex tests," the report stated.
Alsalem called out the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and said that had it followed this protocol, the 2024 Paris Olympics boxing scandal never would have happened. The IOC determines an athlete's sporting category based on whatever sex the athlete has listed on its passport. During the Olympics, two competitors in women's wrestling were believed to be men, though their passports said they wre female and there was no indication that they identified as trans. They were believed by some to have DSD, or differences in sexual development, though they had male XY chromosomes.
Additionally, the report revealed that men competing in women's sports pose a serious safety threat to female athletes, increasing "violence at all levels."
"Female athletes are also more vulnerable to sustaining serious physical injuries when female-only sports spaces are opened to males," the report stated, citing a study that found "the least powerful man produced more power than the most powerful woman" while playing the game of volleyball. Female athletes have sustained serious injuries such as knocked-out teeth, concussions, broken legs, and skull fractures from their transgender opponents, as per the report.
The UN official also advised against allowing men in women's restrooms or changing rooms, saying that "removing single-sex spaces in sports may also increase the risk of sexual harassment, assault, voyeurism, and physical and sexual attacks in unisex locker rooms and toilets."

Jon Henley, Jennifer Rankin, and Lisa O'Carroll at The Guardian:
France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, has been accused of gambling with French democracy after announcing that he will dissolve parliament and call snap legislative elections in the wake of his allies’ crushing defeat to Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) in Sunday’s European parliament elections. On a night that saw far-right parties make significant but far from conclusive gains in Europe, the RN won about 32% of French votes, more than double the 15% or so scored by Macron’s allies, according to projections, with the Socialists just behind on about 14%. The first round of elections for the national assembly will take place on 30 June and the second on 7 July, Macron announced in an address to the nation, in a huge gamble on his political future three years before the end of his second term as president. The outcome of the European parliament elections was “not a good result for parties who defend Europe”, the French president said, noting that, led by RN, far-right parties in France had taken almost 40% of the national vote.
“I cannot act as if nothing had happened,” he said. “I have decided to give you the choice ... Therefore I will dissolve the National Assembly tonight.” He said the decision was “serious and heavy”, but called it “an act of confidence”. Less than two months before the start of the 2024 Paris summer Olympic Games, Macron said he had confidence in “the capacity of the French people to make the best choice for themselves and for future generations”. He added: “This is an essential time for clarification. I have heard your message, your concerns, and I will not leave them unanswered … France needs a clear majority to act in serenity and harmony.” Others were less convinced. Raphaël Glucksmann, who headed the Socialist party’s list, said Macron had “given in” to Bardella. “This is a very dangerous game to play with democracy and the institutions. I am flabbergasted.”
Another critic, Valérie Pécresse, a senior figure in the conservative Les Républicains party, said: “Dissolving without giving anyone time to organise and without any campaign is playing Russian roulette with the country’s destiny.” “Emmanuel Macron is a poker player, we’ve seen that tonight,” said a Green party MP, Sandrine Rousseau. But Marine Le Pen, the RN figurehead who is seen as the front runner in 2027 presidential elections in which Macron cannot stand, said she welcomed the decision. “We are ready to put the country back on its feet. We are ready to defend the interests of the French people,” she said. Her party’s lead candidate for the European election, Jordan Bardella, 28, said voters had delivered a “a stinging rejection” of the president. Macron’s Renaissance party currently has 169 deputies in the national assembly, and the RN 88. If the far-right party wins an outright majority in the upcoming election, the president would effectively lose control over most French domestic policy.
[...]
Although exit polls indicated that the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) had made significant gains in Germany and was in second place on 16.5% of the vote, the opposition centre-right was on course for 29.5%. The AfD’s success came despite a slew of scandals, including its lead candidate saying that the SS, the Nazi’s main paramilitary force, were “not all criminals”. In Austria, meanwhile, the far-right Freedom party was forecast to come top, with a projected 27%, ahead of the conservative People’s party and the Social Democrats, on 23.5% and 23% respectively. In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders’ far-right party was running a close second behind a Left-Green alliance. The Freedom party looked set to win 17.7% of the vote, while the Left-Green alliance, led by the former EU Commission vice-president, Frans Timmermans, was on 21.6%.
But it was far from a clean sweep for the far right, which fell short of expectations in Belgium. And crucially, parties on the extreme right remain divided, making them less influential in Brussels. According to an initial projection from the European parliament, MEPs from the four pro-European mainstream groups were forecast to retain a majority of seats in the assembly, but a smaller one than in 2019, which will make it increasingly difficult for them to pass laws. The European People’s party, Socialists and Democrats, the centrist Renew group and the Greens were on course for 456 of the 720 seats, a 63% share, compared with their 69.2% share in the slightly smaller outgoing parliament. These groups often find themselves on opposing sides – the Greens, for example, did not support Ursula von der Leyen as European Commission president in 2019.
The 2024 EU elections were a disasterclass for non-right-wing parties, especially in France, as that’s nation’s PM Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of parliament and called for new elections in the wake of the far-right surge.

the imane khelif smear campaign is so depressing because even when people are defending her, half the time they're still spreading misinformation. very little is known about her medical history publicly, because that is private information! the international boxing association, an organization stripped of its status by the ioc over rampant corruption, alleged that she had abnormally high testosterone levels, but due to the mentioned corruption, there's serious reasons to doubt anything they say (it's just as likely that they made it up because she beat a russian boxer, who knows). otherwise, that's basically all anyone knows about her, other than the fact that she has passed all of the medical tests given to her by the ioc, the details of which are private. anything people are saying about various intersex conditions or xy chromosomes is pure speculation and misinformation, because this entire scandal is really just predicated on the fact that she "looks" manly, an idea so fucking sexist and racist and transphobic that everyone harassing her deserves things i shan't say publicly on the internet.

The Olympics are guilty of a "double standard," said Jules Boykoff. After Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the International Olympic Committee was quick to condemn Moscow and bar Russia from sending a team to the Summer Games in Paris. IOC officials said Russia had lost its "right to membership of the international Olympic community." That's why just 15 Russians are competing in Paris, and not under the Russian flag but as "individual neutral athletes." So why didn't the IOC uphold the same standard when Israel began pounding Gaza with bombs? Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including Palestinian Olympic soccer coach Hani al-Masdar, who was brought down "by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza." Why are 88 Israelis in Paris allowed to compete under the Israeli flag, rather than as neutrals? The IOC says that Russia violated the "Olympic truce" by invading Ukraine during a narrow window around the Beijing Winter Games, and seized territory that contained "regional sports organizations." That's a "flimsy scrim" of excuses. There's no question Israel has "violated the territorial integrity of Palestine" and demolished "every football pitch in Gaza." The IOC's differing treatment of Israel and Russia "ripples with hypocrisy."
THE WEEK August 9, 2024
Not exactly apples to apples. But an interesting question.
This brings to mind the pervasive corruption at the Olympics: doping, fake investigations of doping, scandals, bribery of Olympic board members and judges, cheating, manipulation of scoring, double standards, fake “sports,” commercialization, and hypocrisy. The IOC is a cesspool. 😕😕😕

Modern Pentathlon Individual at Olympic Games in Paris 2024 🇫🇷
Emotions and high performances, what a day in Versailles!
Emotions et performances, quelle journée à Versailles !
The modern pentathlon, from military tradition, has its last ride at the 2024 Summer Olympics Games in Paris. A sad moment for modern Pentathlon, Horses make their final Olympic appearance at the Paris Games 🐎
The modern pentathlon is the successor to the ancient pentathlon, which comprised running, jumping, javelin, discus and wrestling. The modern pentathlon is an Olympic multisport that has been a core part of the Olympic Games for more than 100 years, that currently consists of fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, laser pistol shooting, and cross-country running.
Just as running and javelin throwing and wrestling would serve a warrior of old, the command of a horse and accuracy of a sidearm would serve a modern, turn-of-the-20th-century soldier. A clear reason why, after 18 years of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s activism, it was the 1912 Games where the modern pentathlon was first contested.
It was believed that this event, above all others, "tested a man's moral qualities as much as his physical resources and skills, producing there by the ideal, complete athlete". The growing popularity of this sport resulted in the foundation of an international federation, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), in 1848. It currently has over 120 member nations.
Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games, highly appreciated the pentathlon of the ancient Games. Coubertin created the contest of the modern pentathlon to simulate the experience of a 19th-century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines: to ride an unfamiliar horse, fight enemies with pistol and sword, swim, and run to return to his own soldiers. He proposed a similar competition that would test the strengths of a “complete” athlete, but involve more modern disciplines, and he introduced the modern pentathlon in the 5th Olympiad in Stockholm in 1912.
Those disciplines appeared attractive to a large part of influential sportsmen, as they were in preparation for a possible war. They were supporting skills and competencies in men that might support the duties of war. Two years later, the Great War began. And during the interwar years, still-simmering tensions kept the sport on the map.
It wasn’t until the 1952 Helsinki Olympics that a civilian, a Swedish carpenter named Lars Hall, won gold, which was a huge deal. Up to that point, the sport was mainly practised — and dominated by — military personnel. (General George Patton - United States Army who commanded the Seventh Army in the Mediterranean Theatre of World War II competed in the 1912, Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden finished 20th in a field of 32 athletes)
Modern pentathlon is made up of four events combining five sports:
Riding, with a show jumping course on an unfamiliar horse that the athlete is allocated in a draw just 20 minutes before they compete.
Fencing, which is split into two rounds: a ranking round where each athlete competes against each other athlete in a bout lasting one minute or until the first hit, and a second round based on the results of the first round. The format of the second round is single elimination, with each bout lasting 45 seconds. Points are scored for winning each bout.
Swimming, with a 200m freestyle event.
Running and Shooting, with a laser-run where athletes alternate between running and shooting at five targets from a distance of 10m.
The women’s event was introduced at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Modern pentathlon, was plunged into a scandal at the Tokyo Games in 2021 when a German coach struck a horse that refused to jump a fence.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) dropped the sport from its initial list for the 2028 Los Angeles Games but approved its inclusion after the global governing body, of the (UIPM) replaced horse riding with obstacle racing.
However, the sport has changed quite a bit in its long Olympic history. For starters, laser guns eventually replaced handguns. Show jumping replaced cross-country riding in 1988, and 2000 saw the first women’s event. In 2012, organisers combined the foot race and shooting portions, and in 2016 introduced the concept of a bonus fencing round. Still, this recent change is the first time a discipline will be dropped completely.
It's a sad moment to witness, especially for those who have grown up riding horses. The feeling after Sunday's final was not so much one of sadness, but more of being part of something unique. This certainly won't be the last time they will be riding horses, as the athletes are looking forward to the challenge of obstacles. They cherish what will soon become a memory, recognising the elegant nature of the sport. It will be sad to see horses, your teammates with whom you must get to develop a quick relationship go into history in the Modern Pentathlon.

2024 Paris Olympics: theft, technical errors and “plague letters”
The long-awaited Paris Olympics continues to upset with yet another embarrassment. Despite the huge amount of resources spent during preparations for the large-scale sporting event, thousands of people are threatening not to watch the Olympics as the slogan “Boycott the Olympics” has emerged around the world after the opening ceremony in Paris 2024 was marred by a giant scandal.
Paris cancelled a triathlete’s training session for the second day in a row
The second consecutive training swim for triathletes at the 2024 Olympics has been cancelled due to poor water quality in the Seine.
The first training swim was due to take place on the morning of July 28 and the second one on the 29th. According to the organising committee, the water quality has deteriorated due to heavy rains. Triathlon competitions are scheduled for July 30 and 31.
Earlier in July, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo took a swim in the Seine to prove that the capital’s river is safe for competitions. Hidalgo was in a short wetsuit and without a cap, she lowered herself into the water from a special pontoon. Before that, the area of the swim site was surveyed, two bicycles and a scooter were pulled from the bottom.
According to local media, the organisers hope that the water condition will return to normal before the competition. However, in the mayor’s office of Paris allowed that the competition may be postponed to reserve dates and even combine two days into one. Earlier it was reported that Paris spent €1.4bn on cleaning the Seine. Macron claimed that the river was safe, but never bathed in it before the start of the Olympics.
Organisers of the Games mixed up the anthem of the South Sudanese team
The debut of South Sudan’s basketball team at the Olympics started with a scandal. Before the debut match of the national team for 20 seconds switched on the anthem of Sudan, from which South Sudan gained independence in 2011. The players continued to stand with their hands clasped to their hearts and drew applause from both fans and opponents – players from the Puerto Rico national team.
Three minutes later, the correct audio track was played to the applause of the fans. At the end of the match, South Sudan won with a score of 90-79. In addition, the organisers made a number of technical errors: the Olympic flag was hung upside down at the opening ceremony and the South Korean team was announced as North Korea at the athletes’ parade in Paris.
WADA hid samples of the Ukrainian Olympic team
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, after an investigation, all samples of Ukrainian athletes taken before the Olympics have disappeared from both the storage facility and from the general database of WADA.
“Doping was found in the samples,” the BBC believes.
IOC removed video of snippets of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee has removed a video with key fragments of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
The opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris on July 26 caused a lot of negative reactions both among spectators and in the sports community. The event included an LGBT parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s work “The Last Supper,” which depicts the last meal of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. During the performance, the apostles were portrayed by drag performers.
Greek portal pronews.gr called the Last Supper parody a collapse of civilisation and Christian culture in Western Europe. The French bishopric also condemned the ceremony, saying the show contained scenes of mockery and ridicule of Christianity.
Obscene toilets at the Olympics
Organisers of the sporting event installed street toilets with “revealing” designs for fans. The main complaint from fans is that these toilets only partially conceal the person inside.
France’s interior minister got a “plague letter”
The strange appearance of the parcel prompted staff at the sorting centre to call the police. On the back of the parcel were racial and other insults against Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, Le Figaro reports.
Upon inspection, the police found black powder in the parcel. The powder was tested by the police’s nuclear, radiological, biological, chemical and explosives unit.
The powder eventually tested positive for plague, a potentially very dangerous disease. New analyses conducted by the Pasteur Institute are underway. The results will be known this Monday.

First lady Jill Biden praises Paris Olympics opening ceremony
While Olympic organisers are panicking as the blasphemy row grows, US First Lady Jill Biden is overwhelmed by the Olympics opening show in Paris. And she has no idea how it could ever be surpassed. She said in a statement:
“So, last night, it was just spectacular. The rain did not dampen our spirits…. Every step of the way, I was thinking to myself, oh my god, oh my god. How are we going to top this?”

French police are searching the headquarters of the organisers of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Officials say the raids are part of two preliminary corruption investigations.
The BBC understands the police are looking into allegations of favouritism and misuse of public money in the attribution of construction contracts.
A spokesperson for the Paris 2024 organising committee told the BBC the body was "co-operating fully with the investigators".
On Tuesday, anti-corruption investigators arrived unannounced at the headquarters of the Olympics organising committee in Saint-Denis, a Paris suburb, as well as at the offices of Solideo, the public body in charge of building projects for the games, the BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris reports.
The French judicial organisation responsible for tracking down financial crime, the PNF, later confirmed to the BBC that their searches were being carried out across several locations involving the two organisations.
The 2024 Olympics take place from 26 July to 11 August, with the Paralympics running in September.
Tuesday's police raids are the latest episode affecting France's Olympic movement and sports in general in recent months.
In May, France's National Olympic Committee President Brigitte Henriques resigned in a move that surprised many sports experts.
No reason was given for Ms Henriques' decision, but it came amid reports of intense infighting in the organisation.
Earlier in the year, the bosses of France's football and rugby federations stood down following high-profile scandals.
