I know the animation industry has been going through a serious rough patch in the past 10 years. I just hope the medium and the artists making it can get the respect they deserve someday soon. So I wanna take a moment to spread a reminder of the powerful emotional scenes we've gotten from animation in the past 10 years.

I was rewatching Gideon Rises and that scene in which he taunts Dipper by saying he has no muscle nor brains to fight back by himself without the Journal's help really gets to me...

And you know what? Ignore Ford's biased by society's expectations on a 1960's man: Dipper's greatest strenght was NEVER his brains.

I mean, he's incredibly smart, there's no doubt. But Gravity Falls is not a place in which you can survive with that alone despite Gideon and Ford saying so.

Dipper's greatest strenght was always the same as Stan: it's how much he loves his family and how far he's willing to go for his sister.

That same love was what made him stand up to the weirdness in Gravity Falls and always find a way out countless times. It's the reason he could sacrifice things for Mabel again and again and never once feel like she was in debt. The reason he could rescue her from Bill's perfect prison in Mabeland and EVEN THE REASON FORD WAS STILL HERE FOR WEIRDMAGEDDON.

The only thing able to subdue Dipper's very naturally human fear of death was his love for his new great uncle.

On a parallel note, Ford's strenght was actually the same as Mabel all along. His love for the unconventional and ability to think outside the box.

The same episode Mabel meets her favorite magical creature and finds out they're an asshole we get the flashback of Ford experiencing the exact same thing.

Wyll being a terrible monster hunter is something that is so special actually. told to hunt heartless devil? immediately convinced of her goodness and humanity and without hesitation agrees to defy the devil who has his soul in custody and spare karlach at tremendous personal physical cost. vampire in camp? well hes handsome and funny and pretty polite about where he puts his teeth so it’s fine all things considered. finding out the person who ritualistically disemboweled a tiefling in front of him is a bhaalspawn like an unholy progeny of the god of murder that is culturally immediately reviled? no that’s his friend and he completely trusts in their ability to fight their nature with their own inner light. it doesn’t matter that they created the absolute they’re not that person anymore. here's what ur gonna do. ur gonna get a plain tshirt from anywhere. from ur closet or ur dad or the thrift store or whatever. then ur gonna go to the dollar store or whatever equivalent u have in ur country. ur gonna get fabric paint and a sponge. ur gonna go home and take a cereal box or a cover of a magazine or something similar. ur gonna draw a design on it [or words. or print out a picture and trace it onto the cardstock) and cut out a stencil. then ur gonna use the sponge to dab the paint onto the shirt using the stencil. ur gonna do that thinly in 2-3 coats until it's opaque but not too stiff. then ur gonna let it dry for 24 hours. ur gonna cover that shirt with a thin towel and press an iron against the design for 30 seconds. then ur gonna wash it & wear it. got it?

I really feel tremendous grief for friendships that kind of petered away in the face of life's currents. There are people with whom I formed deep, unique, vibrant, life-changing connections, and then we had to go our separate ways and it was too hard to maintain long-distance. There wasn't a fight, it just sort of faded. And I feel like I have more friendships like this than friendships that have endured, so maybe I just have to get used to it. But if grief is all the love we have left over - well, I never did get to finish loving them. I love them, and I miss them, and I probably always will.
