Republicans Don’t Own Patriotism
Republicans claim they love America.
But they sure don’t seem to like the American people.
They consistently oppose reforms that a majority of Americans believe would make their lives better, like raising the minimum wage, paid family leave, and student debt relief.
And these supposedly America-loving Republicans also seem to hate American cities, which is where 80% of Americans live.
So they must love rural America, right?
Ehhh…not so much.
Republicans have historically tried to block Medicaid expansion and cut its funding, which rural Americans have especially benefited from. They’ve sought to slash funding for rural infrastructure and development. They’ve sided with big ag over independent farmers. And they’re continually trying to cut food stamps, which rural Americans depend on — even more than those in cities.
So maybe it’s the land itself they love.
Except that while in office, Donald Trump rolled back more than a hundred environmental regulations, making it easier to pollute America’s air, water, and land.
And he opened about two million acres of federally protected (and culturally significant) land to oil drilling.
Rather than conserving our land, they seem more interested in conserving Big Oil profits.
And sadly, Republicans are increasingly rejecting America’s core principles. They’re attacking freedom of speech with book bans. They’re attacking freedom of assembly with laws restricting protests. And they’re rejecting the separation of church and state.
Republicans are even shunning democracy itself, denying election results, passing laws that make it harder to vote, and kicking out legitimately elected lawmakers they disagree with.
It’s time to stop letting Republicans claim the mantle of patriotism without actually being patriots.
Patriotism means loving freedom: the freedom to make your own health care choices, the freedom to choose who and how you love, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to unionize.
Patriotism also means wanting Americans to be free from the fear of gun violence and free from crushing student debt.
Above all, patriotism involves strengthening our democracy. True patriots don’t put loyalty to their political party above their love of America. True patriots don’t support an attempted coup.
Now is the time for the rest of us to reclaim patriotism and affirm its true meaning.

I Hear You're in Need of a Nanny by emptymasks (G)
Aziraphale was trying his best to raise his son on his own, but at a certain point it was difficult to be running the bookshop while also keeping his eyes on Oscar all day. Crowley liked working with children, and children liked him, they’ve just always been drawn to him. A lot of people prefer hiring a female nanny to a male one, and as much as he thinks it’s a little ridiculous, it works out fine for him. He was happy to identify and present as female and tap into his maternal instincts. He’d been wanting to take a job closer to his apartment, but there’s not that many people wanting to hire a nanny in Soho; then he comes across a job advertisement in the local newspaper posted by a Mr. A. Z. Princer. When he meets Oscar, he finds a little girl tired of being told by the world that she's a boy. Single Parent! Aziraphale & Nanny! Crowley, Human AU
Give me a title, I'll give you my heart by NohaIjiachi (T)
Crowley blinked, and the man blinked back. The man currently holding a slipping, squirming Dog, a drenched, light blue shirt sticking to his chest and soft middle, and silver-y blond curls dripping all over the place above a pair of the most steely-azure eyes Crowley had ever seen. Dog seemed to recognize him, because he stopped squirming and started wagging his tail, that went thump-thump-thump against the increasingly flustered looking man’s upper arm. “Hey, Mr. Crowley!” Adam greeted cheerily, popping from behind the man and leaning against the door frame with a cheeky hand-wave. We were just giving Dog a bath. What’s up?” “Ngk,” Crowley replied, his brain currently in the clutches of what Crowley intimately called his ‘Useless-Pan-lizard-brain’.
A Journey Into The Unknown (Which Shall Lead Us Ever Closer To Home) by BlackUnicorn (NR)
Anthony J. ‘just call me Crowley’ Crowley is…content – his little queer café in the heart of Soho, his son, his best friend, his snake. Aziraphale is…existing – day in, day out, in the same job, with the same people, and the same half-forgotten dreams. Going through the motions. Never would their paths have crossed if not for a boy, a teenager, really, running away to the city in search of something better. That’s how it starts, anyway…
Fledging by FeralTuxedo (M)
Cool Dad was at the school gate again. Clambering out of his ridiculous sports car like a great big spider, all black denim and designer sunglasses. What a prat. He made his way towards the entrance, followed by his equally lanky son. All the mums' eyes were on him. Which was fine. At least they weren't staring at Aziraphale for a change. Cool Dad high-fived his son goodbye, because of course he did, then sauntered back to his car. Making it look so bloody easy. Aziraphale Fell is much too young to be looking after eleven-year old Pepper. He barely has his life together as it is, with his minimum-wage job and a half-baked dream of trading rare books for a living. And as if adopting a recently bereaved pre-teen isn’t enough, there are some rather more adult problems to navigate: playground politics, the shadows of his own childhood, and the growing question of how Crowley, the only other dad at the school gate, feels about him. A human AU/kid fic.
It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine by Dervila, elf_on_the_shelf (E)
After Adam's parents die in a car crash, Aziraphale is forced to start taking care of him as more than just an uncle. Don't get him wrong, he loves the little devil, it's just that he is completely clueless and could rather use some help. In comes Crowley, Adam's new nursery school teacher with his amazing skills in dealing with kids. Could he be the answer to all of Aziraphale's prayers - Adam-related and otherwise? Well, it looks like he might be just that, judging by the weird things Aziraphale's heart seems to be doing whenever he sets eyes on the man. Now, if only the tall ginger returned his feelings...
Barriers, and the Breaking Thereof by Cardinal_Daughter (M)
Ezra Fell has long been comfortable in his loneliness. He’s content to simply run the Soho Public Library and otherwise keep to himself. However, when a handsome stranger bursts in one evening with a baby, frantic and in need of help, Ezra finds those carefully constructed barriers he’s long maintained begin to crack. Perhaps it’s time to let them fall.
It Was Always You by mltrefry (T)
A chance encounter during one of the worst times of Ezra Fell’s life reunites him with his once best friend and the one who got away. Though, that would imply he ever had him in the first place. Anthony Crowley and his son, Warlock, relocate to the quieter city of Tadfield from that of London. In the process, manages to find again that one person who always made him feel less alone, the one person he was pretty sure he was never going to speak to again. But the road to true love never did run smooth (something that’s been true from their very beginning). Despite the easy way they fall back into each other, their lives don't seem to follow suit, and if it's not one challenge its another. But despite everything they find themselves facing down, the ten years without each other taught them one thing: they’re better together than they are apart.
And because I know someone else will mention it if I don't...
What We Make of It (Shotgun Wedding) by charlottemadison (E)
The important thing, Crowley tells himself -- the most important thing -- is Adam, his brilliant, creative, empathetic nephew. Being fourteen's hard enough; the kid didn't ask to deal with the weight of the world on top of it. And if taking care of Adam means Crowley has to tough it out at a job he can’t stand, so be it. And if Crowley's job means that Adam’s charming English teacher is NOT a romantic possibility, well, that's just how things go. But the occasional drink with Aziraphale proves hard to resist. They frequent the same pub, so who can object to them saying hello? Briefly sharing a table? Perhaps a little conversation? The painful knowledge that it can’t be anything more -- not without somebody getting fired or sued or both -- well, that can't be helped. Until Crowley stumbles onto a terribly reckless idea...
And the one you mentioned...
Safe Haven by McRaider (T)
When Anthony Crowley stepped back into Aziraphale's life for the first time after eight long years missing, it became exceedingly clear with him came a world of trouble and heartache. But Aziraphale never could say no to his beloved Crowley. Can he help Crowley heal after a failed marriage, a gas-lighting ex-wife with an evil plan?

You convinced me to vote for Jill Stein. I was feeling so defeated about voting no preference or not voting but I'm a single issue voter on genocide I guess and couldn't bring myself to vote for a party and administration that was perpetuating it. So it was kind of liberating to vote third party and vote FOR something instead of just against something. All those people saying just vote and some of those same people saying you shouldn't vote third party, it's like does my vote count or doesn't it? So hypocritical. If you're not willing to vote for something better than what's the point? And the Dems haven't moved left and haven't done all the things in the last four years they're promising to do in the next four so again, we need to let go of that dream that we can "move them left." Anyway I guess just thanks for being thought provoking on this issue!
yep, last two elections I was so full of anxiety the entire time, absolutely terrified of what was gonna happen come election night and after...
but this time, after seeing a full entire year of genocide, of learning more and more about US history and the things our government has done and explicitly continues to do under both democrats AND republicans, I voted third party for the first time for the Green Party and I will probably continue to vote Green for the rest of my life, honestly.
I did Early Voting in my state, and here on election day, I am calm, knowing one of the main two is going to win, but knowing that I am also one of the people who won't go down in the history books as embracing the genocide.
I'm doing what I can to help, both online (signal boosting) and in my local community .
The people who spend their entire life frothing at the mouth about "we just need to vote blue no matter who just one more time! The canidate doesn't need to be perfect! They can commit genocide even! They just need to be wearing a blue hat while doing it!" every 4 years online.... I really can't say that I confidently believe these people engage with their local communities.
and yeah, you hit the nail on the head.
"Every vote counts! But no, don't vote like that! That doesn't count!"
"Every vote counts only when its in favor of my blue-hat-wearing genocidaire, any vote for literally any third party is just you literally voting for the red-hats! Ignore the complete lack of logic in this statement! Don't even ask if conservatives voting for a conservative third party are also somehow voting for the red-hats, or if by my logic, their vote is magically going to the blue-hats when they vote yellow-hats instead of red!"
Vote Scolders and genocide apologists really need to come to grips with the reality that if you're constantly, for almost a decade now, being "forced" by a two party system to "choose the lesser evil" and that "lesser" evil continues to push right wing policies, lose national protections for abortion and queer rights including trans healthcare, and is literally currently committing genocide and bombing multiple countries who actually try to stop the genocide, and embrace literal modern day hitler by inviting Netanyahu, a literal war criminal with an arrest warrent out for him in multiple countries to come speak directly to congress where the "good, lesser-evil" party gave him over 20 standing ovations for spouting genocidal rhetoric....... uh, first of all, you're not voting for a 'lesser' evil of any kind, you're just voting for an evil you think will be slightly more convenient for you, and you will happily throw entire nations into concentration and death camps if it makes you feel slightly more cushy and secure and two --
we don't actually live in a democracy if we are "forced" by a two-party system to vote for two equally genocidal fucks who don't represent any of their constituents and live on lies, lies, and more lies.
Democrats continually refuse to even consider raising the minimum wage and happily embrace funneling millions of dollars to Cop City so we can even further militarize the police here so they can better kill people every single day, while Trump gains voters by making wild promises that he's gonna make overtime be paid out in triple pay instead of time and a half that he, clearly, being a fascist billionaire fuck, never intends to fufill, but sounds good to the people who have been voting Democrat their entire life but never seen any material benefit from it (and yes, that is a real example a coworker gave me of why they were initially considering voting for trump, but then decided they're just not going to vote at all because none of the candidates actually feel good for them, and their family is split down the middle calling anyone who doesn't vote for their favorite side a traitor, ) etc.
Anyways, thank you for the anon, I am glad I could be of help!
Endlessly voting for "The lesser evil" just leads to anxiety and despair; actually putting your vote in for a candidate you want to vote for is one of the most freeing experiences possible if all you've been old enough to vote in is these constant Doomsday Elections.
There's a lot of ways to get started making connections in your local community, and the one I have started with and inspired many others to as well, is to simply start a garden, learn how to grow food and save seeds, and start sharing that with first your direct surrounding neighbors, then your neighborhood via online groups, and beyond! I've gotten many people into growing their own food and then beyond to sharing their harvests just by simply informing people "if you are buying colored bell peppers or tomatoes, or bags of dried beans, you can literally just plant all of those seeds" and watching their faces become full of wonder.
Oh and if you want a theme song for voting third party after voting for the lesser evil all this time lol:
youtube
anyways for anyone who hasn't voted yet, here's Jill Stein with the Green Party's ballot access map:
and here is their platform:
To all the "Vote Blue No Matter Who" crowd who actually do care about Gaza, but you're absolutely terrified of this election because of what everyone has been saying about Trump ending the world if Democrats don't win:
Remember, you are allowed to change your mind.
No one else can see who you voted for.
You do not have to decide 5 months in advance of an election that you're going to be voting for x and then have that decision written in stone.
The only time its too late to change your vote is after you've already cast your ballot.
You can go into that voting booth thinking you're gonna vote for x, and then see the screen or the paper and realize you really, really do not want to support the ongoing genocide.
After you have cast your vote, if someone asks who you voted for and you don't wanna say you voted for the Green Party........ you can literally just lie. Especially if its going to protect you from predatory friends or family who are part of the doomerist "vote blue no matter what they do" crowd.
Same goes for Republicans, or people who think they have to vote for Trump because their entire family is strict MAGA supporters.
You do not have to vote for Trump. You can vote for whoever you want, including third party. No one needs to know who you are voting for. If your maga friends and family demand to know if you voted for Trump too, you can..... just say yes.
No one is obligated to know who you voted for. If you want to vote for a party that is actually trying to make a difference in how much shit there is in the world, but you need to protect yourself from friends and family, you can simply lie and say you voted for their favorite candidate "of course!"
#long post#jill stein#green party#Vote bluers are such fucking shit heads who condone a genocide as long as the person doing it is wearing a blue hat#but oh if a red hat was in charge for the past year of genocide? They'd be screaming endlessly about how democrats would have stopped it#'trump would be worse!' they cry while Biden and Harris are literally currently committing genocide#music#voting Green party is so fucking freeing

I wrote this during my breakdown so I'm not actually crying rn jshshjs
Being in a desi family means no matter what I'll do for my parents, I know they will always choose my brother over me, well at least my father will. I will never get the justice I deserve as long as I live in this family. Sure, my mom tried for me but that only lasted 5 minutes at most before she gave up. Maybe she knew it will never happen so that's why. It still hurts tho. Only trying once and then never again. And instead preaching ME to not get on my brother's bad side. I really, really loathe living in this family. I loathe desi men. My parents will never raise their voice for me to my brother. They will never defend me as he continues to bully me whenever he wants to. And as I continue to type this as I cry, I know it's pointless. Tomorrow I will act like nothing happened and continue to please my father, as if I don't have this thoughts running through me everytime I talk to him. I will continue to talk to my mom as if I don't think how she will never fight for me even if I told her all of this. Because what is the point knowing it will cause a meaningless discourse in the family that will only last a few hours or a day at best and embarrassed myself. Knowing it will be me who will get lectured. And I'm not even crying because of my brother rn it's the fact knowing my parents never did, and never will fight for me. I might've forgave my brother if only my parents did something and he apologized. But they never did. Every day I loathe and love my parents. Being in a desi family sucks.
i want to apologize again for getting to this so late and while i am more than familiar with how this is unfortunately a perpetual, never-ending kind of deal, i really hope that today you’re feeling at least a little better than you were when you were typing this. i’m not sure how old you are but speaking from personal experience i really think the best outlet for any desi kid is to try to be independent as soon as possible. if your family can afford it go for an undergrad degree in a different city. keep connecting with people so your network provides you with opportunities to get out and get a job. prioritize financial stability so that you have the means to move out even if it’s into an apartment. it depends from family to family obv but sometimes there’s a point where some families will not change and you have to do what’s best for yourself and that’s okay. i think it’s easy for us to harbor a lot of guilt that we’re ungrateful if we don’t stick around and try to fix some of the baggage ourselves but what i’ve learned is that even if you want to try to fix the baggage you need to be in a mentally stable place to do so. living at home doesn’t necessarily facilitate that. and i don’t know what your thoughts on it would be personally but if from what i assume you’re a girl then i again would highly highly recommend doing whatever you can to forge financial independence for yourself. even if it means working a minimum wage job for now. i feel like in a lot of desi families there’s a tendency to look down on that sort of thing (odd, no?) but it’s really a vital developing experience all people and esp desi women should invest in. my lack of financial experience has hindered me in so many ways and kept me tied to a familial situation where i am often very unhappy. i love my parents very much but we have ideological and practical divides and we’re at a stage in life where we need our space from each other (and i imagine that’s true in your situation too) and yet i don’t have the means to execute it bc i’m still figuring my life out. it’s easier said than done obv but i think if you develop the conviction early to get your life in order and work towards creating your own space where you can control how you’re respected it will be worthwhile. the pain of your parents’ faults and inability to protect you is always going to sting and esp within desi families there’s a very deep trauma every child goes through when evaluating what their parents have or haven’t done for them. but that sting will hurt more when you’re completely at your parents’ mercy (and your brother’s, in this case). when they’re not in control anymore it will be easier to manage, and i really hope whatever your circumstances that you’re able to forge that path where your life is your own and you’re not bullied for existing within this familial structure. iA let me know if you ever want to vent again, my dms are open as well so if you want to talk more privately that’s welcome, too. love you lots 🤍

Every city or country can take this model and use it for their city , town , county or country to better the lives of the people of their society .
Rikers Island
when it moves from the beach out there in Queens into more like the inner city of the boroughs they should have and develop educational and vocational programs for the inmates at Rikers .
I mean government funded school in prison with real certified teachers in GED training and High school completion courses as well as College courses for students that is ready for it and all inmates should be able to practice their religion and culture without any retaliation for it because this gets them to change their life to learn love from the heart and a love for a creator whether themselves or a higher power .
That they believe it internalizes into their heart and spirit of their character thus changing them righteously making them want to take responsibility for their actions and change their savage and brutal behavior into becoming a more valuable human and contribute something to their immediate family instead of taking from their family they can give something in return whether that be financial with the skills productive skills gained while incarecerated or just being a son to mom or dad or a young father to their children being their for their kids raising and teaching them the right things and hopefully they steer them from the same fate that they suffered and endured .
The school programs should include
Basic mathematics - addition subtraction multiplication fractions percents and decimals and each operation in each like how to multiply fractions decimals and percents and then instruct them on algebra and the harder subjects after if follow that sequence more students wouldnt lose interest and then drop out but more can gain their GED diploma then steady employment when released from incarceration which ensures employment and not recidivism to prison and their guidance counselor should make sure to remind the inmate that they can receive a certificate of relief from disabilities when released from prison so that they will have no problem getting a license for their chosen field of employment or to get back in school
English courses Language art classes Earth science class Social studies class
And vocational classes should include :
Mechanics for automotives Carpentry Janitorial Maintenance skills Electrician Plumbing AC and refrigeration
I heard prison has so much private investors to build more prisons even celebrities and corporations are getting in on the action so why not turn jail prison into a more revenue generating machine and a school house for societies so called rejects maybe Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls or Corcraft can invest in creating educational programs for students or even students that have been out of school and who wants to return to society a more reformed person who wants to help provide value to society and not be destructive in society this plan is even better for business because it creates job opportunities for teachers / instructors and teacher assistants principals and financial aid granting Pell grants and full financial aid the plans like all my plans is to help boost the economy by creating more businesses and putting more money in the consumers pocket and creating more job opportunities for those consumers it is reciprocal create jobs you create business .
Let's Make New York great again , true meaning of going left notice he is pointing to me .

Idk why I, a meme blog, have decided to get on a soapbox about this all of the sudden but you know what, here we go.
Why is it that when there’s any mention of various countries (frequently Britain and Canada, but others as well) in a critical context, or even in a joking sense, the first reaction is to jump to the point of Americans being stupid, fat, lazy, etc.? Don’t get me wrong, America has Problems, but no people are a monolith, and the US isn’t the only one with a bad track record. Yes, America is incredibly corrupt and only masquerades as a “free” country. I’m not making excuses for any of that. But to claim it’s the only one is revisionist and honestly irresponsible. In the spirit of openness, I’m gonna address things here so I don’t have to in the future.
Yes, America has a gun problem. But using “ha ha well at least our kids don’t get shot at school” as an escalation to friendly teasing isn’t the gotcha you think it is. Especially if it’s followed by the “well you shouldn’t have voted them in then”. Who. Who did I personally vote in. Was it when I was a toddler? Earlier? Let me know because if I was there in 1787 when the second amendment was drafted up then I’m sure scientists would be thrilled to know. And it also shows that you have no clue how our electoral system works, since the majority of voters can be in favor of something, only for it to be denied, or vice versa.
Yes, America has a problem as the tenth most obese country in the world. But a lot of that comes down to the lack of access to healthcare and healthy food in areas where fast food and less healthy alternatives are cheaper. “Well it’s not hard if you meal prep and budget right and buy organic and try this detox te-” shut the fuck up. Managing a minimum wage (or lower because that’s a thing) job with raising children, and feeding a family doesn’t always leave enough time to focus on healthy eating. And food deserts are shockingly common, especially in predominantly poor neighborhoods and for people of color.
Yes, America has a problem with healthcare. But in a country where people would rather take painkillers than go to a hospital when they have a serious illness because they can’t afford the bill, people are more afraid of the hospital than the actual injury.
Yes, the American education system isn’t great, but point to Montana on a map without looking it up. New Mexico. What’s the capital of New York? It’s not New York City. Our states are the size of most countries. As far as math and science, I’d argue that we can compete on a global scale. Ignorance comes from everywhere, not just here. I’ve also never actually met someone who thinks that London is a country, or that the sun turns off at night. I’m sure they exist somewhere, but there’s an equal chance they’re in your town as they are in mine.
Point is, we get it. I get it. I wrote this entire thing because I get it. But I’m also fucking tired. Using murdered children to win an internet battle when someone jokes about how you stole shit for a museum is,,,honestly just sad. Making jokes or talking about shit you know nothing about isn’t helpful to anyone. It’s not as easy as voting them out, or a glorious revolution. Expand the depth of your knowledge on the subject before you start shit. And check your own hands before you say shit about the blood on ours. We’re aware of the horrendous shit our country’s done. It’s broadcast 24/7. Just because yours isn’t on the global news doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
A lot of us are scared about the upcoming election, doubly so if we’re PoC, queer, disabled, etc. A lot of us are facing some very grim realities right now, and we’re terrified. We don’t need the constant reminders of how fucking bad we have it.
#american politics#america#politics#disk horse#discourse tw#i’m. so tired#just#quit bringing up school shootings as your trump card#it’s honestly a pet peeve#I get dark humor#I don’t mind it#but as someone outside the us#shut your mouth#long post

Stop Making Everything Unaffordable, it's Inconvenient and Annoying
I truly and wholeheartedly believe that increasing rent at all and increasing prices at stores above, like, thirty percent or so should be illegal. If you can’t afford to be a landlord, don’t. If you’re going to price gouge everything people purchase, especially essentials, go jump off a cliff. I. Am. So. Fucking sick. Of this insanity.
I keep seeing articles in the newspapers about the housing crisis we’re having and the solutions seem to always dodge the fact that landlords are in fact the problem. Landlords are making the cost of housing astronomical. Their excuses are often tied to the cost of living rising constantly. Well, that would be helped significantly if corporations and businesses weren’t allowed to upcharge ungodly amounts. Everyone is fighting fire with fire. Things are getting expensive? Charge more. But also don’t raise the minimum wage much because that saves costs too. Just keep going up and up and up with prices because there is no roof. Where does it end though? What happens when no one can afford to live? I know I’ve asked this in several other posts, but it weighs on me every day. These people have no limits. They have no strong barriers.
Yes, I know I don’t know everything or how all the world works, however, I feel like this is a relatively easy fix. It’ll just piss off a lot of the super wealthy people. Oh no, oh dear, will no one think of the rich people? (Read previous sentence with heavy sarcasm because that’s how I’m saying it). I also know that fiends find loopholes and get sneaky and loose with the law. I know people will always suck if they want to. But can we not try? Can we not attempt to thwart this and keep re-thwarting as they thwart back?
Higher ups, whether they be a head office goon or the entire government, don’t have most of our best interests in mind. I know this. My friends know this. My acquaintances know this. Hopefully you know this. I’ve said this. Hoping for the world to be bettered by those in power is probably quite stupid. I’m gonna do it anyway though because I don’t have anything else to do. At least when it comes to making my brain happy. Hope is often a disappointment in my experience, yet, I think I’m insane at this point so as the insane do, I shall keep hoping the same and expect different results.
I just don’t like that one of my favorite book series, The Hunger Games, keeps coming true in bits and pieces. That trilogy is my 1984, and uhh, that’s kinda horrific. But that’s the cute thing about dystopias, they are mirrors to our current societies. Alas, the reflection is seldom seen by the people because the people have no eyes. It would just be nice if some things would improve and or change for the better. It would be nice if I didn’t have to wait until half my city is homeless and most of the businesses are closed because of us wandering the streets like zombies for something to change. It would be nice if we, as people, didn’t wait until things hit absolute rock bottom before realizing that we were going downhill and doing something about it.
There is a boycott this month for Loblaws as they have successfully infuriated enough people to warrant this. There is also now a Steal From Loblaws Day. Normally I don’t condone stealing, unless it’s from Value Village because fuck Value Village, but if there’s a dedicated day for a crime, I don’t care, I’ll look the other way. Pride started as a riot and we’ve come so far since then. So if breaking the law on a particular day or month is what we need to do to change shit, then so be it. Compress the rich in Titan-flavored submersibles. Abolish all landlords. Overthrow the government. Drink plenty of water and stop slouching.

MY CASE FOR MAYOR OF BALTIMORE: I lost this long email to look for a link to send y'all. I live Coppin Heights. I can touch Coppin State University from my house. Mayor Scott is the struggle Mayor. Trying a little bit of this or that. Never accomplishing much. Baltimore has it all. Great Mass Transit. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Thurgood Marshall International Airport. AMTRAK(from Balt-Penn Station you can get to NYC Pennsylvania Station in under 3 hours). MARC commuter trains will take you to DC on a discount. METRO subway, MTA Light Rail, Baltimore Link buses cover the city map. We will increase residential & business occupancy until we have no vacancies. When we get over 1,000,000 residents. I will talk to Commissioner Silver, his deputy, NBA Ownership Fraternity, and the NBPA, and we will win the NBA lottery(by making the case for Baltimore) and receive the BaltimoreCharm. The BaltimoreCharm will win in the High Technology Jordan Brand Arena between Franklin/Mulberry & Fulton/Pulaski. CSU was a hot mess 20 years ago. The city and state are investing in Coppin because parents did not want their kids in Coppin Heights/Mondawmin region right next door to Frederick Douglass High School. Target left Mondawmin because of theft of expensive over the counter drugs. Very easy to steal and make a drug cocktail with Fentanyl, Painkillers, and Valiums. Target never leaves big cities unless the circumstances really kill their bottom line. That old Target store was finally purchased by Tim Reagan(CEO of Whiting-Turner Contracting Company) and is now The Village. The Village will host businesses that are needed in the eight west and Greater Mondawmin Community But why did this take so long? There is a "Baltimore Renaissance", but Brandon is like a snail. People of a certain age are going to be dead before it is realized because the gears grind slow with Democrats and big bureaucracy because everyone got their hands in the Baltimore Treasury trying to get the most money. GREED! This is the impediment to good things happening expeditiously. Black neighborhoods have been pillaged and left for dead. No functioning school. No functioning supermarket. No community center. No trash cans. Yes, I said trash cans. No banking. No nothing! I am running with the Green Party. We have the radical, fresh ideas that will make BaltimoreCity the envy of America. Not in 2030 But NOW!! We will #RebuildBaltimore more expeditiously and with less taxpayer funds so we can refund education and welfare programs that help people who work hard but earn low wages. We also need to raise the minimum wage to $22.50 per hour. Baltimore also will receive a much needed rebrand. A lot of my old friends never even been here..The question is why? Because of our reputation. That there is nothing to see here. Nothing to do here. It is so bad drug dealers from New York came down here to do business and never made it back. In the beginning of the rebrand, we must remove those hideous images of abandoned neighborhoods on Bing, Google, and Yahoo! Those images will swapped out with positive images of Baltimore. I am asking for your vote because iLoveBaltimore more. Bmore as we call it. We can really be "The Greatest City In America." Please take a peak at this 3rd Party Debate with our Presidential Candidates Jasmine Sherman & Dr. Jill Stein. I even liked some of Chase Oliver's ideas. > Sincerely yours, > Erik Powery 1701 Moreland Ave Baltimore, MD 21216-3708 https://www.erikpowery.com

Comes down to if you want a cure or just an improvement. For a cure, we'd need a huge overhaul in several areas of our culture and legal system. Banning large magazines helps, but doesn't fully fix things. Many gun deaths are from incompetence or people treating them without proper respect. Road rage gun deaths are higher in areas where you don't need additional anything to carry a gun in public, for example.
Licenses
I'd like gun licenses to be like driver's licenses, where people have to know the laws related to gun ownership in their state. Too many places are too lax on their laws. Want to shout about Chicago? Well, you can't just say how strong Illinois laws are when there is no hard border to Indiana, where they have gotten a bit better recently but were the source for a lot of Chicago's crime-related guns. It's a bit like trying to get rodents out of your veggie garden while your neighbor breeds mice in their backyard.
Now some people will say it degrades our rights if you have to take a test to get a license. I'd argue that my state currently has you meet with the local police and they have to like the cut of your jib before they sign the paper, so a driver's style license with a written test and maybe an hour at a range is an improvement for certain states. It's gotten a bit better recently with (not an actual law) precinct policy updates, but including a vibe check with the background check is a very inherently racist/classist way to do it. Yes, I knew someone who failed the written driver's test many times between 16 and 20, but he admitted he'd never read the tiny 10-page book that explained all the traffic laws when we suggested he take it in Spanish if he was having such a problem with the written test in English. My state offers the test (and book) in lots of languages so it isn't an English literacy test, it is at best a responsibility test because if you don't have the minimal responsibility required to read the manual for a potentially deadly tool maybe that speaks to the second thing we need to change.
Mental Health
Mental health is something the Right likes to bring up a lot in this conversation- and they are correct to do so! So many people are unacceptably stressed out, scared, or struggling. Road rage killings? It isn't just that somebody cut them off, it is that and the 7 other things that are currently awful in their life. I wish this was actually a bipartisan concern, but it is mostly a smoke screen. When Republicans have power they cut access/funding to Medicaid and mental health services, so they don't want this fixed they want it as a scapegoat. They say more people should get therapy for their stressful lives, but won't raise minimum wage laws so that the things stressing people out go away. Once I saw the idea that most of Wal-Mart's workers were on food stamps and other assistance being framed as "these people would quit or unionize and strike if these assistance programs didn't exist and this was a truly a free market, but instead Wal-Mart's payroll costs are subsidized by the government" back when they had that big to do about raising their average wage. Poverty is stress. Lack of Healthcare is stress. People become violent when they snap, and we've got a lot of systemic stuff going on that is heaped onto people right now. I could go into the psychological warfare and cognitive dissonance we're dealing with like a former president convincing people that Federal law enforcement is a scam while being in the party of law and order but we all know how stressful divisive political double-think can be.
TL;DR for the zoning law bit: our environment as mandated by zoning laws is ugly, hostile, and driving us to bankruptcy.
Zoning laws suck and our mental health suffers
Bad city planning decisions are also a source of stress that local politics can fix. Traffic sucks, and municipalities - even small towns - have made it worse by forcing things to spread out more and more. How? Free parking isn't free. There is a zoning law, based on a guess and gut feeling rather than any good statistics, that forces every new business that opens in most of the USA to have enough parking to pack the place to "maximum capacity." That means paying for lots of additional land, and paying property taxes on all that extra space too. Also, you would never walk down the main street anymore, you would drive because it's not safe or convenient to walk where drivers are so preoccupied. Every other lot is a surface parking lot so the hot sun and baking black tar are a major part of any stroll outdoors in the places where we used to stroll outdoors. So much for foot traffic and window shopping for local main streets, and also any sense of community we'd build by meeting people in that "third space." I'd say we can get that in malls, but most malls have no loitering policies these days preventing people from hanging out without paying for the privalidge (how authoritarian) and many are abandoned. This means less exercise and more sitting in traffic, which we know isn't healthy. Also also, the economy is going to favor national brands who can afford all that extra cost of building enough parking, pumping the profits back to the coasts or overseas from middle America. It's absolutely folded into the cost of whatever you are buying that a Wholefoods or Aldi in a nearby city had to build a huge parking garage somehow on expensive downtown real estate.
Yes, this affects suburban life too. Suburbs also have zoning laws that are making us more miserable, often the same ones that look a little different than in rural or urban areas because of the scale. R1 zoning creates deserts where there are no businesses to walk to, so teenagers need a car to get a job or else they hang out in a half-maintained park bored to the point of vandalism. Zoning laws and local policy also prevent us from having any good local mass transit. Streetcars are just for tourist towns. Busses are for the destitute and only go where politicians think the destitute should go - and neighborhoods are more segregated by wealth than ever. Rich people writing the rules would never want to use mass transit with the poors so they keep all that out of the nicer parts of town, locking young adults and teens out of employment until they can afford a car of their own (and therefore locking the lower end of middle-class families out of those neighborhoods.) It is a zoning law that means no affordable or environmentally conscious housing can be built in large sections of the USA. (R1 zoning, lot size and other requirements designed for aesthetics not safety or how the land .)
Mixed-use zoning, apartments close to main street, and the way people used to live for most of human history where you could get to work in 15 minutes or less and say hi to ten different neighbors along the way are all much better for our mental health! It gives a sense of community rather than the lonely individualism we're having an issue with right now.
So why are Americans so Violent?
We're segregated and told to hate each other. It's those poor people on food stamps taking all the money we'd need to fix our main streets, not their employers. It can't be a structural problem, despite the city planning experiment of track housing suburbs being worse for mental health.
The red line is when Republicans ended the national assault weapons ban.
#us politics#loneliness#zoning laws#gun deaths#yes bring back the ban but also#we can do a lot of things to improve the USA#violence

Life as a Senior NCO for a Head of Household that can't Provide
If you've been keeping up with your PT, and you're ahead of us, or lagging behind, the commonality is that you are pursuing a life of happiness.
And with the life you've chosen, you've been introduced to values you weren't completely well introduced too. And you learn the issues that our society is pressed with. But the issues are still the same, regardless of where you reside.
Of course, in Britain and the European Union, they've already raised their minimum wage. But in the United States, it's still the issue of power.
And the same issues grow very tiring the longer you deal with them. But once you've done your due diligence, and you've gained the experience you need to become one of us in all of our societal values, "I'm not very interested in extending the use of force."
So, going forward, one day you will realize the the use of force, and all of these wars are below you and your person.
So, I still can't find a reason to promote higher values for the use of force. And Governments are realizing that technology is a good place to describe a common forum for diplomacy.
So, you get to the point we're you are capable of enumerating other attributes then just the use of force. And you can consider quality of life.
And with quality of life, your management of your time and assets, are generally more attentive, as you choose to continue your way of life, in conjunction with your friends and neighbors.
Earlier I talked about the pressing issues of espionage, and individuals trying to exploit your person, and physical characteristics, to create harm. And this amounted to better accounting.
But there are also block diagrams and flow charts that you can use with your management skills. And for technology, this creates values that are tangible, from an intangible "ideology."
So, our use of force is still the same, while our management skills will improve. And as a result, technology begins to work "for you."
And now that you are getting yourself up to date on the physical qualities of technology, you could consider multitasking and management skills.
And with our new technology that's coming out, we can sit back and think about how we're going to spend it.
And you're correct in assuming that the latest technology, and all of our societal needs just aren't as much as you would think.
But when you consider our institution, and ceremonial values, the latest technologies can be much more appreciated. And they are.
This TV, above, could employ a city the size of Chattanooga. And if you consider business partners, it could reasonably employ a city the size of Atlanta.
That's just a lot of appreciation. But if you still needed more, there are other attributes to consider. For instance, if you enjoyed the obnoxious weight of the old picture tube TVs, Element Electronics has a model that might be what you were looking for.
It's an outdoor TV, but the use of force hasn't changed.
And so, this is an example of the future of technology development.
But with future development, such has the issue of espionage, we've found that accounting can utilize the performance we were looking for, at incredibly low performance requirements.
And, now, our needs for more and more advanced script and programming, are manageable. Needless to say, that you are no longer attracting unwanted attention.
And you realize that the things you were previously interested in, are less important. Because the experience is more satisfying.
Once again, our enumerations for technology are sound.
Now, when I'm stating I'm not very interested in raising the bar for use of force, the current regulations for technology, are equivalent to include flechette artillery rounds.
And these rounds may also be guided as well. Which is well within regulation. But what's worse is the size of the flechette rounds that are within regulation.
And regarding the latest development in the tech sector, the new technology is also allotted to enumerate parallel usage, even including trimming back capabilities for even greater efficiency.
But, with all of zero trust architecture, even after the greater demand for script processing after the early 2000's, we're simply not seeing the need to continue.
In fact the latest development exceeds consumer demands in performance, and then the additional script requirement for zero trust architecture.
I'de say we have a way to go before we would consider using the current regulation to its fuller limits.

Bernie Sanders: We Must Raise The Minimum Wage To A Living Wage
In the richest country on earth, if you work 40 hours a week you shouldn’t have to live in poverty
— Opinion | Minimum Wage | Monday 17 April 2022

Congress Can No Longer Ignore the needs of the working class of this country. At a time of massive and growing income and wealth inequality and record-breaking corporate profits, we must stand up for working families – many of whom are struggling every day to provide a minimal standard of living for their families.
One important way to do that is to raise the federal minimum wage to a living wage. In the year 2023, nobody in the US should be forced to work for starvation wages. It should be a basic truism that in the US, the richest country on earth, if you work 40 hours a week you do not live in poverty. Raising the minimum wage is not only the right thing to do morally. It is also good economics. Putting money into the hands of people who will spend it on basic needs is a strong economic stimulant.
“The federal minimum wage has lost over 27% of its purchasing power since it was last raised 14 years ago”
When over 60% of American workers are now living paycheck to paycheck, when the life expectancy of low-income Americans is in decline, when we have the highest rate of childhood poverty of almost any major country, we can no longer tolerate a federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, a wage that has not been raised since 2009. Incredibly, the federal minimum wage has lost over 27% of its purchasing power since it was last raised 14 years ago. That is unacceptable. Millions of Americans cannot be allowed to fall further and further behind economically, unable to afford the housing, food, healthcare, childcare and education they desperately need in order to live in health and dignity.
Whether they are greeting us at Walmart, serving us hamburgers at McDonald’s, providing childcare for our kids or waiting on our table at a diner in rural America, there are too many Americans trying to survive and raise families on $9, $10 or $12 an hour. It cannot be done. This injustice must end. Low-income workers need a pay raise and the American people want them to get that raise.
Bernie (Bernard) Sanders
“Cities and states all across the country are taking the low-wage crisis into their own hands and raising their minimum wage”
That was then. Now is now. And things are changing. As a result of years of congressional inaction, cities and states all across the country are taking the low-wage crisis into their own hands and raising their minimum wage. Some are doing it through legislative action. Others are doing it through ballot initiatives.
Since 2013, the people of 12 states – New Jersey, South Dakota, Arkansas (twice), Alaska, Washington, Maine, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri, Florida, Nevada and Nebraska (twice) – have voted on ballot initiatives to raise their state’s minimum wage. Every single one of these initiatives passed, none with less than 55% of the vote. And these are not just strong “blue states” voting for economic justice. In the recent November 2022 midterm election, two states that voted in Republican governors, Nebraska and Nevada, voted to raise the minimum wage. In 2020, the citizens of Florida, with a Republican governor and two Republican senators, also voted to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
The MIT living wage calculator estimates a living wage as a salary that is adequate enough to support a family without luxuries. For two working adults and one child, a living hourly wage for each adult would be $18.69 in West Virginia, $17.55 in South Carolina, $21.57 in Maryland, $20.01 in Utah and $19.33 in Wisconsin. Even in my own state of Vermont, the living wage is $19.58, more than $6 above the current state minimum wage.
But there are many families that do not have two working adults and rely on single moms who are raising their children on their own. In that case, the required living wage is much higher. As an example, a single mother in West Virginia would need to make $33.39 an hour to support herself and one child.
So it is not radical to suggest that raising the minimum wage to $17 an hour over a period of several years is the right thing to do. In fact, had my 2015 bill to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour that was indexed to median wages became law, the federal minimum wage this January would be at least $17.40 an hour. And while we deal with the minimum wage, we must also address the scandal of the tipped wage, which has been stuck at an abysmally low $2.13 an hour for more than 30 years thanks, in large part, to the powerful restaurant lobby which has spent millions in campaign contributions and lobbying expenses since 1991 to keep workers in poverty.
Together, these two proposals would provide an increase in pay for tens of millions of desperate Americans – disproportionately women and people of color. It would also be a huge boost to single moms. Let us not forget that these are the essential workers who kept the economy going during the worst of the Covid pandemic. At that time we called them heroes and heroines. Well, rhetorical praise is nice. A livable paycheck is better. Let’s do it.
— Bernie Sanders is a US Senator From Vermont and the Chair of the Senate zcommittee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions

I was listening to the radio. The discussion was the housing/cost of living crisis, as it often is. They had callers ringing in. One lady called in and she had something v interesting to say, which might help put some things into perspective. (I'll preface this by saying, I understand that cost of living and minimum wages are different in every country. I live in western europe.) She was saying how she and her husband were well educated, they live in the capital of my country. She and her husband have moved up the ladder career wise, constantly moving companies every few years in order to gain raises and maximise their earning capacity. They have both gone as far as their professions will allow, meaning they are at the top. They get paid the highest for their profession. They have done everything they can to max out their earning capacity. There is no getting higher unless they leave the country and even then its a gamble. She is earning 45k a year, her husband 36k meaning collectively as a two income house hold they are clearing 81k before taxes, so they their take is probably around the 70k mark (I don't know this lady's financials but we can imagine of that 70k, the cost of food, rent, utilities, dental, medical, clothes for work, the potential of a car... see how quickly that 70k is disappearing. She did not disclose how much savings they had but they app had more than enough for a downpayment.) The bank is obviously factoring this in... They were looking at maybe a 3 bedroom semi detached or even terraced house. Here's what new builds are costing in the surrounding areas of the capital.
this picture below is the 4bed 3 bath new build semi detached. 475k. thats nearly half a million euros. Its interesting to note that this is what the new council houses look like
The above are much older houses. They are mostly in okay aeras. None of them are in trendy or super affluent areas, those houses are well beyond a million, sometimes multiple millions. None of these examples are mansions, but they are all hitting the half million and up to a million mark. Sure, I hear you say, why dont they just move outside the capital? Well, 1) the commute is even longer 2) Nearly all our major jobs are based in the capital, and our second biggest city/hub is just as expensive. 3) the houses outside the capital are not much cheaper 4) car insurance in my country is insanely expensive. We're talking in the thousands. But I digress... The bank told them that they need to clearing over 110k to get a mortgage. (Though, they are paying astronomical rent on a one bedroom apartment in the capital. w/o obv the bank aren't considering that if they weren't paying insane rent, this would be freed up for the mortgage.)) There is no where else from which to squeeze another 40 grand, unless one of them gets a second full time job! They already put over 40 hours into work, w/o factoring commute back and forth, extra time in the morning getting ready etc, so realistically they are both putting in an extra 15 to 20 hours putting them at 60 hour weeks. They have put having kids on hold due to this and finances. What I'm trying to say is.... the two highly educated professionals pulling 70k a year is not your enemy. The cards have been stacked against us all by vulture funds, its constant price hikes by corporations responsible for our food and every day living necessities bragging about record profits for 5 years running, governments taking back hand payouts, ceos taking eye watering bonuses whilst their workers struggle to eat or live out of their cars. Its greedy landlords hoarding properties for short term lets, and companies like airbnb demanding to be brought to government conversations about housing with only their self interest in mind.

Next order of business : Fat Joe and Salt from Salt and Pepa communications company a for profit organization this is a company that I'm pitching that travel from city to city across the united states of America and even the USA carribean Islands like Saint Croix Saint Thomas and Puerto Rico and visit the jails and educate the misfortunate that happens to be incarcerated and provide them with vocational training programs and certificates upon graduation to help stop recidivism to prison and make honest working citizens out of the men and women even the adolescents that find themselves incarcerated in places like New Orleans 3rd ward 5th ward and the 7th ward even in Texas in towns like Temple Killeen Copperas Cove Houston and Dallas Texas and help these men and women even adolescents become civilized citizens America earning an honest living wheter entreprenuerial activities or working a day to day job with classes in managing and budgeting their finances .
Every city or country can take this model and use it for their city , town , county or country to better the lives of the people of their society .
Rikers Island
when it moves from the beach out there in Queens into more like the inner city of the boroughs they should have and develop educational and vocational programs for the inmates at Rykers .
Let's Make New York great again .

Podcast: Audible Anarchist: Alexander Berkman: What is Communist Anarchism? Chapter 5: Unemployment.
In this chapter Berkman describes how unemployment is both necessary for capitalism to function and also an inevitable outcome of capitalism.
How can it be that capitalism requires unemployment in order to function? A capitalist economy must keep an army of unemployed workers - people who are ready and able to work - to pressure the employed workers into obedience. I was told many years ago that a percentage of unemployment was necessary in order that there be an available pool of workers for sudden undertakings. While I have no reason to doubt that this is true, I can tell that the pressuring angle is also true.
The worker is aware that they can be replaced at a moment's notice. This disincentivises workers from organising, striking, asking for higher wages, or refusing to perform dangerous or degrading work. Unemployment is a constant threat to our standard of living, and it is the whip by which capitalists compel obedience. And how can any member of the army of the unemployed refuse an offer to work? By necessity they must. They'll cross your picket line and do your job with perhaps a guilty conscience but their children will have full bellies.
How does capitalism maintain this army of the unemployed? By making as few workers as they need do as much work as possible for as little compensation as they can get away with. Berkman was writing at a time before the establishment of a federal minimum wage, but it still holds true. Any minimum wage worker who has asked for a raise knows the truth of it. Any advances in productivity result only in greater expectations placed upon the workers, not more expansive hiring practices.
The capitalist's motivation is profits. They are not concerned with the well-being of society or of individual workers. If a worker is injured or killed they can be replaced almost instantly with a recruit from the army of the unemployed.
But it gets worse when you consider the issue of overproduction. Overproduction happens because capitalists don't go into businesses to meet the needs of society, they do it for profit. The example Berkman uses in this chapter is that of the need for shoes. Say a thousand people in a given city need shoes. A team of 10 cobblers could fulfill that need in 20 hours or so. But the capitalist isn't looking to get shoes to everyone who needs them, they're looking to sell shoes to those that can afford them. So they make the cheapest shoes they can, paying their workers as little as they can to make as many shoes as they can. Suppose this results in 50,000 pairs of shoes. If the capitalist is able to sell 30,000 pairs that still leaves 20,000 pairs unsold in a warehouse. So perhaps they try to export them to the next town over, but by happenstance another capitalist in that town has done the same thing, so now there's two capitalists with warehouses full of shoes they can't sell. Then it turns out that every town is experiencing the same thing. All the while there are people who need shoes but can't afford them. And then the capitalist will tell the workers that this is a crisis and cut their wages or their hours or lay them off indefinitely.
Berkman rounds out the chapter by listing these three absurdities.
People have to starve because there's too much food.
Because there is too much, manufacturers shut down, throwing people out of work.
Being out of work they lose their buying capacity, impacting the profitability of other businesses.
These are the inevitable boom-bust cycles of capitalism. They're systematically baked in, there's no avoiding them. As long as profitability is the primary concern of economic activity, there will be unemployment.
So, structurally, systematically, capitalism inevitably leads to crime, despair, suicide, violence, and war.
