Ok but Odysseus as the god of Puppeteering & Mind of Shadows would completely flip the story on its head. I imagine that in order to topple the gods, he’d want to do it without arousing suspicion because what kind of puppeteer would he be if he was discovered right away? So he played it sneakily. When he catches Athena’s connection, he already has her snared in his trap, a connection made that he can pull back on when the time is right. I’m not sure if he’ll still be connected to Hermes or the lost deity’s powers had overwhelm and erased it but he and Hermes will eventually meet. He does love Penelope and hates how he can’t tell her who he really is otherwise someone might catch him and ruin everything but he does put protective blessings on her and his son who might have inherited his powers, he’s gonna seal that up real quick until the time is right.
As the Trojan war comes, Odysseus played it cool but secretly made connections to the gods that appear whenever they made themselves known like Ares, Aphrodite, Apollo and Artemis. The only exception was Zeus due to him being more powerful than the rest and while he did have to drop the baby, he did save him and leave him to his minions who I imagine are puppets he made. Every death during the odyssey, Odysseus secretly saves them and puts them in his pocket dimension because of his attachment to them. When Athena leaves, he’s saddened but disappointed; I feel like a part of him wanted to give the gods a chance but after Athena left, he no longer saw any good in them and what’s going to be a divine invasion would be considered justified. He thought Athena could change, but he supposed that he was wrong…
From there, it becomes much more easier to manipulate now that Athena isn’t watching him. He knew that by revealing his name, he’ll draw Poseidon’s attention where he can make a connection using their hatred towards each other as the basis so that it can click. He’s not someone who can see prophecies like Apollo, rather he knows what to do to make things play out how he wants. He does want to go home, but the deities were getting impatient so off to Scylla he goes where he lets her eat sirens instead. Mutiny happened and while it did hurt, he never blamed his crew because he understood them and finally… He encountered Zeus. Helios was actually his target but he’ll take the top god and other ways of persuasion him to form a connection using lust. He even learns some unexpected things from the king of gods which he files away for another time due to how they made his chest feel weird.
And with that, everything is in place and soon, he’ll no longer be Odysseus. It’s like the song ‘The main character’ but in a more tragic light; as much as Odysseus loved living as a mortal, he can’t be seen as human. He’s the vessel of the forgotten deities’ anger and it’s either he fails, gets taken/hurt by the Olympian gods never to see his family again, or finally put his plan into action. He thinks himself as a puppet ironically, after all he was created to bring ruin to the gods, much like how Pandora was made to give a punishing gift to humanity.
So, he pulls the strings, ignoring the squeeze in his heart as he turns away from Zeus and wonders if Penelope could forgive him for what he’s doing.
*snorts this world building like dwugs :3*
On a less weird note: NHHDWGYHHHFHHGGFFF— YAS!1!!!1!! OMG ODYSSEUS W/ ALL HIS BEHIND THE SCENES GLORY AHFDDEWWSSSS EEEEEEEE THIS LOOKS SO FUN‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
If I’m gonna dissect some things,,,, :
#1: auhhhh u put the Last Minute Titles I made 4 Ody’ to good use 🤩🙏 him analysing his situation so to not cause suspicion is very him, AWBGAS him establishing ‘connections’ to The Gods, probably to manipulate them by info access but also maybe these Connections r like invisible Magic Strings that Odysseus can use to weaken them when, as u put it, the time is right AKA Dimension Invasion Time omg ouggggg— either way, very kool <33.
I still think he’d have some DNA-related connections to Hermes, it mostly being there too give him a base 4 when he accesses his Godly Form :) (in my mind, Ody’ was sent into This World as a Little Shadow Blob, the first form he took was when he incarnated as Ithaca’s Newborn Prince :33)
Cries, he loves his wife & son no matter what, makes it even more of a shame about wha he’s suppose to do hehe hmmm *pockets Telemachus w/ Otherworldly Deity Genes 4 later*…
#2: ohohoho— The Trojan War spat got no idea who it’s actually helped :),,,
Awwwgffdddfes— Ody’ saving lil’ Astyanax n spiriting him away 😭😭😭 (along w/ everyone he’s attached to :() oh how he couldn’t resist to raise that kid :’) + omg mindless puppet looking shadows as Ody’s’ minions / ‘Eikon’ (I think that’s how u use the word when referring to a false being created by a God??? Idk??-) is *chefs kiss* those sound like such badass things to wield ngl-
*wince* ouwwwww, My Goodbye sounds so awkward but also funny in a kinda sick way in this scenario bc- Athena is arrogantly yelling at Ody’ to do some shit & then there’s Odysseus of Ithaca over here existing as The Nuclear Weapon Mastermind of some spiteful dying Universe LMAO—- 😭
Ouch, Ody’ wanting to be at least somewhat fair, give The Gods a chance thru observation but then Athena lets her pride get in the way & now their fate of getting fucked over is permanently sealed ooooooo— just one less argument Athena, just one less argument is probably all it coulda’ taken 😙,,,
#3: everything falling into place as the story goes on, The Gods none the wiser to what is on the horizon…
Lmao, Odysseus wanting to go after Helios makes me think of that meme where it’s a guy pointing a shotgun at the sun GTHHAAGL😭😭😭
Ohohohohook— there we go >:]]] glad 2 see that the Manwhore thoughts r sprinkled into every one of my A.U’s :3
But now, along w/ the Blender Timeloop A.U, with angst!1!!!1!11
Idk if I’m reading dis wrong, but those ‘unexpected things’ from Zeus sound like The Godking catchin’ feeeeelss~~ hehe oh the dramaest drama *rubs hand together evilly*
Also yep- Odysseus already got a lot on his plate, so that is def something he’s want to deal with,,,,later.
#4: ah Character Feeling Way 2 Attached To Their False Identity But Very Much Needing 2 Let It Go, one of my fav tropes 😏
Speaking of character tropes: THE MAIN CHARACTER BY WILL WOOD LET’S GOOOO— ouuuuu- yes, that’s such a good song 4 Ody’ here <D✨ (mostly bc I just luv the song) & OUUUUUHHHHH—- in general, the pain of having to fulfil his purpose as a infiltrator / virus- 🥲🥲🥲 love that angst 😋.
Yeah,,,, The Lore I’ve made in my mind paints Odysseus’s whole- thing, existence very tragic, but that’s what The Greeks were all about so, still fits nicely w/ the usual cruelty in their stories !!
Bringing up The Other Deities as I’ll now call them, while their objective of reviving their Universe thru the equivalent of seeking a rat into a land owners papers is gonna be very, very disruptive to Greece’s current economy, I never rlly thought of them as. Bad. Morally grey, absolutely if not as well a bit sympathetic, but never rlly. Bad. A few of them even learn to care 4 Ody’ as they observe him growing up <), still pushing their goal onto him n guiding him to fulfil his purpose, but they also make sure to treat him as a person. A young person that needs to be nurtured. (mostly 4 the plan to work out smoothly but there’s some care 4 their infiltrators wellbeing,,,)
Despite all of this, Ody’ is still not having a great time dealing w/ everything,,,, obviously. It’s a pretty morbid way to live.
#5: plan getting set into motion ohohohehe- here comes The Drama + unnecessary All Powerful Odysseus lmao :’)
Haha I will never let this man be happy with his family :))))).

My perfect altar:
- Moss agate
- Pigeon feather you found on the ground
- A pretty rock
- Coins
- Animal bones
- Green or brown candles
- Cinnamon incense
All of these laid out either on a great stump in the heart of a forest or a moss blanket.

The knowledge that I am divine and, at the same time, completely adultered by all mundane and vulgar. My divinity is a farce to those with prying eyes, lest I dare shine too brightly to withstand.
And they will have their way, so they will. My light is long forgotten, not even I remember it.

i was gonna ask if u think the scientist has ever vouched for making soundwave a judge because he wants to give his lil pookie the ultimate reward or whatever. but then while typing i realized that would mean he cant put that one in his closet. so new question:
do you think the scientist would ever deliberately sabotage soundwave if it seemed like he might become a judge, specifically so that he can have soundwave all to himself instead
Oh totally. He's making damn sure he gets to collect every iteration of his special little blorbo. He could never bear to separate his head from his perfect body, even for such a divine purpose as cleansing the multiverse. So he will selfishly stowe them in his lab instead. Keeping them pristine. Keeping them alive even after their universes were reduced to ashes. Sustaining their existence through only the force of his obsession love.
Really, he's doing them a favor.

Question for those that have experience with death deities and those who protect the dead
🥀🐺💀🗝️🥀
Tumblr media
So, I’ve been doing some reading about Gods of the Dead - Pluto/Hades/Nyja, etc.
I have a question for anyone who feel inspired to answer in either a comment reply or a reblog.
In many descriptions it is written that they are a “god of the underworld and guardian of souls when they leave the body.”
Do you think this could also be true for those who do soul travel or astral projection? Would the god of the dead also protect those who practice traveling?
And if not him, who? Would anyone be the watcher of this practice? Another psychopomp?
I’m looking for personal gnosis and historical/folkloric evidence of something like this. Thank you ♥️

So I’m trying to revitalize my craft now that spring is here! I’m making a whole section on Hecate as a part of my April goals for my path as a witch (one of them was research Hecate). I’ve been taking notes in between working on insurance denials and my brain has decided to fixate and focus on my witchy-ness versus the thing that pays me money. Oh well.
As a side note, Bard, my dæmon, is currently laying on the corner of my desk in his mink form and laughing his actual ass off in joy and amusement. He’s quite glad I’m trying to get back into my craft.

it could just be a kid demon. without realizing it was wrong
It— [He stops and inhales for a moment, and continues with an annoyed, but more clearer speaking pace,] It was... a demon demon. A shape shifting one from... probably a whole different type of world that— ugh! Knew what it wanted to do would be bad and scare us and... did it anyway...!

heian era sukuna as a husband!
husband sukuna! who first saw you by the river near your village, washing your hair under the soft glow of the setting sun. the peaceful moment didn’t last long; one of his cursed spirits emerged from the shadows, plucking you from the water like prey and tossing you onto his horse. before you could even scream, you were taken to his cursed shrine high in the mountains, a dark and eerie place where countless other frightened girls from distant villages had been gathered, all trembling in the presence of the king of curses.
husband sukuna! who you had heard countless stories about him in your village, the king of curses, a monstrous being with unmatched power. you always thought they were just myths to keep children from wandering too far. yet, when you finally saw him in all his terrifying glory, his four arms and four sets of piercing eyes radiating an otherworldly dominance, fear wasn’t the first thing you felt. instead, it was curiosity. unlike the other girls who cowered and sobbed, you couldn’t help but step closer and ask, “can i touch you?” your boldness caught him off guard, the faintest flicker of intrigue crossing his face, a reaction he hadn’t shown to anyone in centuries.
husband sukuna! who found himself so intrigued by how someone like you, so small, so mortal, did not tremble in fear. instead, your soft hands reached out, touching his face and arms as if he were some kind of untouchable deity carved from stone, not the monstrous king of curses. he didn’t even realize he had agreed to let you touch him until your fingertips brushed against his skin, your curiosity pulling him into a moment he couldn’t understand.
husband sukuna! who picked you out of all the other frightened girls, initially seeking only a concubine to satisfy his desires, but something shifted when he met you. there was something about your calm, unshaken presence that stirred something in him. you, unlike the others, didn’t cower in fear. you didn’t beg for mercy. your boldness, your curiosity; it intrigued him, and for the first time, he found himself considering you not as just another possession, but as something more. a wife, not a concubine.
husband sukuna! who throws the most lavish wedding the heian lands have ever seen, inviting even the emperor to show off his new wife, his queen of curses. it’s a grand event, full of gold, decorations, and luxury, but all eyes are on you, his chosen, the woman who stood by him, not as a fearful servant, but as his equal. you, his queen, now dressed in the finest clothes, a symbol of his power and the bond between you.
husband sukuna! who started to feel this strange pull every time you were near, like you were the only thing that could fill the emptiness in his heart. he didn’t understand it, but it didn’t stop him from wanting to keep you close, even if it meant pretending he didn’t care.
husband sukuna! who would rarely show it, but you could feel the weight of his gaze on you, like he was studying you, learning you. he couldn’t stop himself from being drawn to you, no matter how much he tried to act indifferent.
husband sukuna! who started questioning everything he knew about emotions, especially when it came to you. every time you were near, his heart would beat faster, and he didn’t know if it was anger or something else. he wasn’t used to feeling this way, and it bothered him more than he cared to admit.
husband sukuna! who, despite his power, couldn’t control the strange desire to protect you. he didn’t know why, but when danger approached, he felt this overwhelming urge to make sure nothing touched you, even if it meant putting himself at risk.
husband sukuna! who started seeking your company more often, even when it wasn’t necessary. he would pretend it was for something else, like business or duty, but deep down, he just wanted to be near you, to figure out what it was about you that made him feel this way.
husband sukuna! who never expected to find someone who could make him question everything, someone who didn’t fear him the way others did. you were the only one who didn’t tremble when he looked at you, and that intrigued him more than anything else.
husband sukuna! who, without realizing it, started to crave your touch. at first, it was just the occasional brush of your hand, but soon he found himself seeking out those moments, lingering just a little longer than necessary, wanting to feel the warmth of your skin against his.
husband sukuna! who never thought he’d want to spend time with someone like this, but with you, it felt different. he started planning small things just to see you. whether it was a casual walk or sitting together in the garden. he didn’t need a reason; he just wanted to be near you.
husband sukuna! when, during one of your strolls through the garden, you mentioned how much you loved roses (or any flowers you like) he made a mental note of it. the very next month, the entire garden was filled with roses, rows upon rows of them, in every color, and bloom. it was his way of showing you he was listening, even if he never said it aloud. the roses, a silent gesture of his affection, were now there just for you.
husband sukuna! who makes sure all your kimonos are made from the finest and silkiest silk, each one carefully chosen to complement your beauty. your combs, made from the finest bamboo, are crafted with delicate precision, perfect for brushing your long, flowing hair. he ensures that every little detail of your life is as luxurious as possible, from the softest cushions to the finest food, all to spoil you in ways you never imagined. every item, every gesture, is his way of showing how much you mean to him, even if he never says it outright.
husband sukuna! who found himself realizing just how head over heels he was for you when you had to leave his estate to visit your family in the village. the moment you left, an unexpected emptiness washed over him, and he realized how much he missed you already. it was then that he wondered, if I miss you this badly just when you’re at the village, what would I do if you were gone forever? he couldn’t shake the thought. you weren’t immortal like him, and the idea of losing you, someone so human, so delicate, filled him with a kind of fear he never expected to feel.
husband sukuna! who tries to figure out every possible way to make you immortal like him. he couldn’t imagine his life without you, and the thought of losing you one day terrified him more than he’d ever admit. he searched for solutions, delving into ancient texts and forbidden rituals, determined to find a way to keep you by his side forever. the idea of you growing old and leaving him, or even worse, being with someone else, was unbearable. he would do anything to make sure that never happened.
husband sukuna! who, after much searching, discovers that the key to making you immortal like him is by carrying his heir. his immortal blood would imprint on you and his child, ensuring that you would live on, as long as his bloodline continued. when you return, he is sure to tell you of his plan, his determination clear in his eyes. it’s the only way he can guarantee you’ll never leave him, and the thought of sharing his immortal legacy with you fills him with an overwhelming sense of purpose.
husband sukuna! who is the happiest man—or curse—alive when uraume tells him that you are pregnant. a rare, genuine smile spreads across his face, one that few have ever seen. the news fills him with a sense of pride and joy he’s never known, and for once, his usual calm demeanor cracks. the idea of you carrying his child, an heir to his immortal blood, makes him feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. it’s as if everything he’s done, all his power and control, has led to this moment. you, carrying his legacy, makes him feel more alive than he ever has.
husband sukuna! who spoils you rotten throughout your whole pregnancy, making sure you’re eating well and getting everything you need. he hunts himself, ensuring you have the freshest, most protein-rich food, and even arranges for the finest fruits to be delivered from the emperor’s lands. he may or may not have threatened the emperor into compliance, but it didn’t matter. all that mattered was making sure you were well cared for and that nothing, not even a tiny discomfort, would touch you. your well-being was his top priority, and he would go to any lengths to ensure you and the baby were healthy.
husband sukuna! who doesn’t allow you to walk on your own, no, he has four arms for a reason. you’re going to be carried by him everywhere and anywhere. whether it’s across the estate or through the garden, he insists on carrying you in his arms, making sure you don’t lift a finger. he doesn’t care if it’s impractical or if anyone else thinks it’s too much, his only concern is making sure you’re comfortable and safe during your pregnancy, and he enjoys having you close to him at all times. no one else gets to have you but him.
husband sukuna! who has a small throne made for your baby, placing it beside his massive one. with your and his child’s thrones on either side of his, he feels a sense of contentment that he’s never known before. it’s a simple gesture, but it means everything to him, his family, his legacy, all sitting together with him in his domain. the sight of it fills him with pride, knowing that soon, your child will sit there beside you, carrying on his immortal bloodline. it’s the perfect symbol of everything he’s built, and it’s all for you.

I had an idea based off of this (It has nothing to do with said idea the context is the Sims 4)
So Neil gets married to his first wife, all is well, she gets pregnant. What he doesn't know is she's some deity of some form or another and was either in a selkie skin situation where she can't return home because Neil has something of hers or knew that she can't legally just run away with child without Neil getting the law involved and put herself in danger. How a mortal man would put a being too powerful for him to even dare lay a hand on (He does anyways) in danger who knows, but whatever it is, she's not budging for a good couple of years.
Anyways, so at some point she does actually leave, abandoning her son to the dogs despite the possibility that she could have tried to bring him too, but simply could not. It could be a time thing, where her point of freedom was short and grabbing Billy without alerting Neil was too risky, a mortality thing where Billy being part of Neil's blood too made him impossible to bring where she was going, or just simply she did not want to.
Regardless, now Billy's stuck with Neil, time passes, joy of joy they end up in Hawkins.
Billy remembers his mom, definitely. Probably idolised her as many children do, especially when said parent tried protecting you from your other parent and gave you happy memories. Very likely he had no idea that his mom wasn't just a mortal woman.
Very likely – before the Mindflayer got its grubby slimy little tentacles in Billy – it didn't know either. Why would it. So, after it DOES get its nasty little whippersnappers into Billy it just... goes horrendously wrong.
Turns out adding the Upside Down to Godly Blood is a horrible combination and should not be done under any circumstance.
It becomes a horrible rendition of slowly distorting Billy's body so badly he might as well just been Mindflayer 2.0 but with exactly one (1) soul suffering in agonizing pain and misery.
It doesn't stop his mind from going between completing the Duty forced upon him and trying to figure out why everything in his bones hurt.
Pros:
-Nobody gets melted, hooray!
-The original Mindflayer + Henry now have to fight this Holy Blood with the mind control, and turns out a small child is much easier to control than WHATEVER THIS IS.
-The pain of summer being legal and a thing is likely not as severe but still very uncomfortable because someone on this brain council likes it cold.
Cons:
-Billy does not get his memory of him as a kid on the beach with his seven foot wave shown to him by a girl he doesn't really know but was about to feed to a massive monster in the mall and therefore remembers what feeling safe was like.
-Max still gets trauma regarding said brother, just in a different ice cream flavour.
-He doesn't understand what is going on and he's never gonna get his answers because it's too late for him.

I miss my body so much, it has been so long and I do not fully recall it. I was not a being you could find in a book, not a mystical or old day myth. Because I was not of this world.
I know not my own name yet I yearned to be called it and to feel deeply awakened in a sense I cannot even begin to describe.
I miss me.

Bruce when he heard some of Danny's titles: What sort of balance would need a guardian to maintain? What gate would be important enough to need an eastern dragon to watch over? Ward of the keeper of the timelines, the boy knows someone who has some sway over time then.
Bruce, slowly putting ice cream into his mouth as he thinks: Duke of the Black Fame... Bruce, flashing back to one or two cases where a league member encountered cultists and they also had black flames. There is a connection there, undoubtably, but is it what I'm thinking or something else.
Bruce: Full of questions
Also Bruce: Stays quiet and doesn't verbalize any of them
Danny, waving a hand over at Bruce, who looks like the table personally offended him by staring holes into it: Is... is he okay?
Dick: Oh, he just does that when he's full of questions but doesn't ask them.
Tim, who is along the same train of thought as Bruce, knows he won't be able to leave this conversation, but unlike Bruce asks the questions after having downed straight unholy concoction just handed to him: So, Danny. Does your uncle have cults in his name.
Danny: Yea probably.
The table:
Tim: Does he want to take over the world, or care about human sacrifices..?
Danny: Nah, he's a dick but he's not the guy to take over the world, doesn't see the need for sacrifices, also because he likes the packers.
Dick: Like the football team?
Danny: The football team.
Danny, snickering: Did you know he tried to buy them but got denied? It's the funniest shit in my opinion.
(Vlad, trying to fix his appearance: Gets summoned. Vlad: Vlad, to the cultists in his name: Not. A. Word.)
The batfam is wondering what kind of person would be brave enough to deny a giant phoenix.
Danny: This is ice cream is great, by the way.
Alfred: Thank you, Master Danny.
Dick: Sooo, do you actually know the 'Keeper of the Timelines'?
Danny: Oh, yea I do. He's cryptic as hell but a great. Huh. Kid/Friend/Uncle. Don't question it.
Does Tim bring up the King of the Infinite Realms title? Because that truly is something he feels would belong to a deity of some sort, and then there's the kid's(?) uncle who's a goddamn duke and there's probably more titles they don't know about, so it would be safe to assume the both of them are either deities, or deity adjacent.
There was a dragon in their fountain.
A giant eastern dragon in their fountain.
Most of its body is in the fountain, but a good portion of it is just resting on the ground.
Were they supposed to just, leave it there or make it shoo.
Tim didn't know, neither did Dick.
It was beautiful, scales a glowing white and a mane that looked incredibly soft, even from where they were standing.
Again, there was a dragon in their fountain. A beautiful dragon, but a dragon nonetheless.
Alfred, the unconcerned, professional, most unphased man, just, walked over to it, give it sass for growling at him, and then asked if it would like to soak in the pool instead.
And the damn thing agreed to it too.
--
Danny fucking hated the aftermath of his fights with Vlad, sure, the phoenix never tried to actually kill him or anything, but the heat just does not do it for him.
At least the fucker himself is gonna be uncomfortable from the cold.
Danny just wanted to navigate to the Far Frozen to recover from the heat, alright. Of course it would be too much to ask, because next them he knew he ran into a portal and plopped down onto some rich person's lawn.
And then took over said rich person's fountain, it was big enough for a good amount of his body at least, so he just went why the fuck not.
Then some butler came over to him, gave him of all people fucking sass, and asked him if he wanted to soak in the pool instead.
So of course, he got to the moving to said pool.

Hello how are you I hope you're taking requests if yes may I ask for blade with a deity reader who can heal his mara but it comes at a price for the reader and it leaves them with side effects and blade doesn't realise till the side effects start showing and it's not enough to kill them but enough to get them weaker
Fleeting Salvation
Summary: Burdened by the torment of mara, Blade reluctantly accepts your healing, which can temporarily soothe his pain. However, the process comes at a steep price, leaving you weaker each time. As Blade begins to notice the toll it’s taking on you, he struggles with the unfamiliar fear of losing someone who willingly sacrifices themselves for his sake.
Tags: Blade x Reader, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Touch of Fluff, Immortality and Suffering, Sacrificial, Deity!Reader, Slow Burn.
Warnings: Themes of self-sacrifice, Mentions of pain and suffering (mara-related), Emotional vulnerability, Physical weakness/exhaustion from overusing powers.
A/N: First time writing a Bladie centred fic, i probably got the mara thingy wrong since I'm always confused by it😭😀
Tumblr media
Blade leaned against the cold steel wall of the Stellaron Hunters' hideout. The endless pull of mara clawed at his mind, a cacophony of whispers and screams that never ceased. His fingers tightened around the hilt of his broken sword, the jagged edges digging into his palm like a cruel reminder of his shattered existence.
"You're restless again." your voice, soft as starlight, echoed through the dim chamber.
Blade's eyes snapped to you, a figure glowing faintly in the dark. You carried an otherworldly grace, a testament to your divine nature. A healer, Elio had said—a being who could offer him fleeting solace. He had scoffed at the notion when you first arrived, but now he couldn’t deny the faint reprieve you granted him, however temporary.
“I’m always restless.” he replied gruffly, averting his gaze.
You approached, unbothered by his curt tone. Blade was always guarded, his demeanor like an impenetrable fortress, but you had seen glimpses of the pain he carried—a pain so profound it rivaled the stars' lifespans. Kneeling beside him, you placed a hand on his arm.
"Let me help." you offered, your voice steady despite the weight of what you were about to do.
Blade hesitated, his brows furrowing. “You’ve done enough. It’s pointless.”
“It’s not pointless if it brings you peace, even for a moment.” you countered gently.
He didn’t argue further, though his jaw clenched. Blade allowed you to place your hands over his chest, your fingertips glowing faintly as your power flowed into him. A radiant warmth spread through his body, soothing the burning chaos of mara. For the first time in hours, the voices in his head grew quieter, retreating like a tide.
Blade exhaled sharply, his shoulders relaxing. But as the light dimmed and the healing concluded, you swayed slightly, your breath hitching.
“Are you alright?” Blade’s voice was sharper than usual, his gaze narrowing as he noticed your pale complexion.
“I’m fine,” you lied, forcing a smile. “It’s nothing.”
It wasn’t nothing, but you couldn’t let him know. Healing mara was not like mending physical wounds; it demanded more than energy. It tore at your very essence, leaving you weaker each time. You had accepted this cost willingly, knowing that your gift could ease Blade’s torment, but you hadn’t anticipated how difficult it would be to hide the toll it was taking.
Days passed, and Blade began noticing the changes. You moved slower, your hands trembling slightly when you thought no one was looking. The glow that once surrounded you like a protective aura now flickered weakly, as though a storm had dimmed your light.
“Stop lying to me.” Blade demanded one evening as you stumbled after a session. He caught you before you fell, his grip firm yet uncharacteristically gentle.
“It’s fine...” you murmured, leaning against him as your strength faltered.
“It’s not fine,” he growled, his frustration spilling over. “You’re weakening yourself for me. Why?”
Your eyes met his, soft but unwavering. “Because you deserve to live without pain, even if it’s only for a while. You’ve suffered enough, Blade.”
His hands tightened around your arms, his jaw working as he struggled to find the words. No one had ever willingly borne a burden for his sake. He didn’t understand it—why you would sacrifice yourself, even partially, for someone as broken as him.
“Don’t do this again,” he said, his voice low but fierce. “Whatever price you’re paying, it’s not worth it.”
“It’s not your choice to make,” you replied, your tone firm despite your exhaustion. “I’m choosing this. For you.”
For the first time in centuries, Blade felt something unfamiliar—a pang of fear. He had spent so long chasing his own destruction, yet now, the thought of losing you unsettled him in ways he couldn’t explain.
Blade began watching over you more closely after that. He noticed every tremor in your hands, every falter in your step. He tried to refuse your help, but the mara would always resurface, its relentless pull forcing him to rely on you again and again.
One day, after another grueling healing session, Blade didn’t let you leave. Instead, he sat with you, his expression unreadable as you rested against the wall, drained.
“You’re a fool...” he muttered.
“Probably.” you admitted with a faint smile.
Blade’s eyes softened, the weight of your sacrifices pressing heavily on him. “I don’t want this.”
“You don’t want the pain either,” you replied, meeting his gaze. “Let me carry a little of it, Blade. Just for a while.”
He didn’t answer, but the silence that followed wasn’t his usual cold indifference. It was something else—something fragile, like a thread connecting the two of you in the vast emptiness of the universe.
For the first time in a long while, Blade found himself wanting something more than destruction. He wanted you—and that terrified him more than anything.
