They unearthed him w the rest of the founders on a whim but bc no one really requested him specifically, the body just kinda sat there and eventually got mixed in w the rest of the Uchiha corpses, till Orochimaru requests an Uchiha corpse and they shrug and send him over

He still has Madara's eyes too (left alone either by oversight / or bc they decided not to pull them before he got mixed in w the other bodies, who had by then already gotten scooped of their eyes so they assumed he'd already been harvested)

Ok but like. No one even tells him what happened/where he is/that madara made the village. Why would anyone?? The only one Izuna sees regularly is Orochimaru, and he doesn't know those facts would matter??

Izuna doesn't even know what Konoha IS, he isn't gonna recognize the name

From Izuna's perspective, he died in his bed and then BOOM. Tank time.

Orochimaru might tell him it's been some years since his death (thinking he died in the massacre) and even if Izuna doesn't believe him bc like, enemy, enemy territory, he sure as fuck probably won't be thinking "Ah yes it's been decades since my death and my brother went against my dying wishes to make that village"

Tho he might get nervous and start picking up those cues when he sees the tech

Oro mentions offhand that the Uchiha were all killed and Izuna immediatley assumes the Senju won the war and loses it

He'd figure it out eventually obviously (probably after being set free, most likley by Sasuke w Suigetsu) But he'd also probably keep that to himself, bc like, enemy territory n stuff

Ok actually but like. Suigetsu's shape-shifting but bc Izuna has a fire chalra nature, make it liquid fire shape-shifting. Fuckin, fire mermaid Izuna. He has an awful time retaining his form and actually for the first chunk of time, him being in that tube is genuinley just for the best. He keeps turning into liquid fire with no real solid body and can't put himself back together for hours.

Izuna hears his brother is still alive and running Akatsuki and is so down to clown till he realizes THATS NOT HIS FUCKING BROTHER HOW DARE YOU USE HIS NAME

Anyways oh my god Izuna on team Taka,,

He and Sasuke would be SUCH a dynamic actually, they look alike so much?? Sasuke doesn't recognize him but he's clearly a close relation, so there's some mystery there. Sasuke is like super shaken by finding a member of his clan and Izuna, by that point aware that apparently the rest of his clan is dead, is sticking to him like GLUE. Sasuke is bitchy little brother coded and Izuna understands this is probably karma bc he is also bitchy little brother coded

They probably clash a lot, especially bc both are expecting to be in charge here, but ultimately I think they'd get along better than Sasuke does most people, and there's also that bonus vulnerability of like. Izuna is an older Uchiha boy who's trying to brother him (with a noticeably different brother-ing style to Itachi too) and Sasuke has been alone for so, so long.

Sasuke accidentally calls him nii-san then promptly has several break downs about it

Suigetsu and Izuna either get along ALARMINGLY well or they hate eachother. I think I wanna go with the first bc it sounds more fun. They couldn't talk to eachother in the tanks but they could still see eachother, so maybe they kind of developed some sort of code to communicate?

They are "cause problems on purpose" friends. They're also "wdym I can't kill him???" *looks of genuine confusion* buddies. They're giving Sasuke the biggest headache actually, someone stop them. If you leave them to "take care" of a problem, there will be carnage.

Also, like, Izuna literally has Suigetsu's DNA in him. That's a thing.

Mmm maybe some complex thoughts ab how Izuna has effectively become a bloodline thief against his will (the ULTIMATE taboo for shinobi from his era) and he's like, actually fucked up about it.

Running joke where they refer to each other as cousins, could be funny. They argue over who's the bastard child (it's Izuna obviously but he won't just take that title lying down)

Izuna is like, in his 20s, and Karin is around 16 or 17 at this time I think?? She definatley has a bit of a crush on him (which helps take the edge off Sasuke) but like, he's not acknowledging that beyond patting her on the head. She'll get over it eventually. (Sasuke hides behind Izuna when Karin is trying to flirt w him and Izuna absoloutley laughs at them both)

Izuna is actually really impressed w Karin's sensing abilities specifically. I think he'd be a bit on edge around her at first, bc Uzumaki -> Senju ally. But he'd quickly assume she's a deserter (he has no idea the Uzumaki are pretty much wiped out rip) and becomes cautiously chill after a minute or two (also when he first escapes, he REALLY doesn't have the luxury to pick and choose his allies. He's instantly attached to Sasuke and cautiously fond of Suigetsu, and Karin seems to have Sasuke's trust at least, so he'll keep an eye on it but otherwise trust Sasuke's judgment)

Izuna and Karin besties arc where they paint eachothers nails is a must. I love the take that Izuna is really into fashion n stuff and he and Karin should like, trade hair tips or smthn. Karin knows modern soap brands where as Izuna bought his soaps from clan vendors who no longer fucking exist, so like, it's definatley helpful.

Karin is the only one of them to have any real hint of where tf Izuna came from (tho even she doesn't have the full details) it'd be cool if she was the one to figure out more details ab his general mystery— maybe something about her chakra sensing gives her a hint as to how old he really is?? Or she finds the paper trail that hints towards the bodies being mixed up???? Idk but she deserves to have an "aha!" moment

Also Izuna's medical knowledge/standards are NOT up to modern and Karin is so mad about it, she's giving him hella lessons on first aid n shit and he's very, very interested in all this free medical knowledge

I know the least about Jugo so bear with me on this one pls— I think Izuna would find Jugo to be pretty fascinating as a person actually. He enjoys tentatively poking him with sticks, and comes to genuinley like him as a person (when he's calm) pretty quickly

Also cats love Izuna so he gets bonus points from Jugo bc of that, they can bond while petting Izuna's contracted cats or smthn idk

Yeah I really don't know much ab Jugo so that's all I have to offer sorry

Ok let's backtrack a bit, back to Orochimaru ->

Fun scene towards the very start of the fic, where Izuna still has no fucking clue what's going on, but recognizes Orochimaru as a member of the Orochi clan. He says as much, and Orochimaru has to pause.

No one's mentioned his clan to him in years. They haven't been relevant in Konoha since Orochimaru was born— even before that, they were barley relevant. Izuna should not know who they are.

(The only reason he does know is bc they had a neutral to positive relationship w the Uchiha back in the warring era, and Izuna had visited them once before)

Immediatley, Orochimaru is squinting at this guy. He's giving Danzo a ring asking who exactly he got sent over, but Danzo doesn't actually have anything to offer him??? The paperwork is a mess and there were a LOT of Uchiha. He's not registered as a shinobi tho.

Hmmmm.... ok.

Orochimaru is suddenly aware there's some kind of mystery here now, which is dangerous for Izuna. Izuna is, again, in enemy territory, and he's able to pick up on the fact that Orochimaru doesn't actually know who he is. This ofc means that HE sure as hell won't be telling him.

Maybe he bares his teeth and sarcastically says he's the second coming of Uchiha Madara (not even that big of a lie when u think ab it)

Izuna is listed in the data books as like, being equally as talented as Madara and I think we should talk ab that more actually

Izuna is fueled on rage and spite and he's full up on both

Ok so Madara goes against his EXPRESS dying wishes and makes his village. (what the fuck!!) Then backs out (yay!!) but in an awful way that effectively fucks over the entire clan for years to come (nii-san what the FUCK)

Then gets literally backstabbed by Hashirama (HE FUCKING TOLD YOU!!! WHAT DID HE FUCKING SAY!!!!!)

Then the Uchiha seem to thrive and like. Ok. He's still mad about it, but at least something... kind of nice came out of it.

THEN BOTH THE VILLAGE AND MADARA'S(?????) SCHEMES KILL THEIR ENTIRE CLAN

Izuna is SO mad at literally everyone, holy shit. The only one safe from his rage is Hikaku, god rest his poor, poor soul

Actually, I think it'd be funny if Izuna was like, indescribably extra awful mad at everyone— but then is like. Normal mad amounts at Tobirama, who was a bitch but at least didn't seem to carry on a personal fucking vendetta against the Uchiha like EVERYONE ELSE INCLUDING FUCKING MADARA FOR SOME GODDAMN REASON

Where as everyone else (again, including his brother!!) Was like. A genuine betrayal

Sakura had never traveled with Sasuke in the blank period in Gaiden

First, look at this:

The second translation from VIZ:

There was a time Sakura chased after Sasuke and they traveled together, and Sarada just happened to be born at my hideout!

In original language,

サクラはサスケを追いかけて一緒に旅してた時期があってウチのアジトでサラダちゃん産まれたんだか Sakura, chasing after Sasuke, there was a time when they were traveling together, and I wonder if Sarada-chan was born at our hideout.

There is not much different with translation we're familiar with, except for the "んだか (ndaka)" at the end adds a sense of uncertainty or wondering to the statement about Sarada's birth. I don't know why it missed or be removed for some reason.

This means Karin was not the midwife of Sarada. She didn't cut the umbilical cord herself, she received from the one who directly deliver Sakura's baby and stored it at her desk. And in their hideout, beside Karin, not much people could handle things about childbirth. It came to the conclusion, Karin received the umbilical cord from Orochimaru - he is the most probable.

Then how does this relate to the initial premise "Sakura had never been with Sasuke in the blank period"?

First, we temporarily don't know when Sakura and Karin start to be friends. Let's have some case:

Case 1: Sakura and Karin start to be friends with each other when Sasuke, Sakura, Karin just happened to be at the same place, maybe in some missions. In this case, Karin definitely witness Sakura accompany with Sasuke. But it have some threats to SS as the first part of Karin's dialogue "there was a time when they were traveling together". SS shippers would not accept the theory where their "sweet honey moon" interrupted by the third person. Sasuke would never love Sakura and show intimacy about her. There's no possibility SS making out in front of Karin to make her giving up on Sasuke.

=> Refute Case 1.

Case 2: They start to be friends after Sakura gave birth to Sarada at Orochimaru's hideout. If Sasuke was there too, Karin would witness SS together. Again, there's no possibility SS making out in front of Karin to make her giving up on Sasuke. Most likely Sasuke was not there. Karin didn't witness SS together. She met only Sakura with her daughter and assume that Sarada probably was born in their hideout.

Second, Karin's thoughtful expression when Suigetsu suppose that she had written Sasuke off.

Given that Karin's obssession about Sasuke would not lose to anyone, why did she give up on Sasuke? Being friends with her "rival" Sakura could not make that impact, Sakura saved her in Kage Summit arc have nothing to do. In War arc Karin still starved for Sasuke although she remembered she had been stabbed by him.

Back to Gaiden, Karin had not meet up with Sasuke but have interactions with Sakura since they were friends, she was told about "the SS travel" by Sakura.

To sum up, Sakura gave chase but failed to catch Sasuke. For some reason, she met Orochimaru and they did the test tube baby experiments. Oro belikes "okay I have some Uchiha genes here, let's do something outstanding fufufu." Sakura was friends with Karin and made up a story about lovey-dovey honeymoon phase. Karin didn't met Sasuke directly, couldn't act out or question his decision, thus move on from him.

Short little thing that explains my headcanon as to how Log and Mitsuki were created. Also OOC soft mommy Oro, because I can't comprehend being cold and uncaring to kids, especially when they look like Mitsuki

The light-blue liquid looked calm. The bubbles, rising up from the bottom to the top, were rare and unevenly spaced out. Something was wrong with it.

He stood there, simply watching the little creature inside move. Lazy, yet frantic twitches indicated an array of different problems he couldn't even grasp. All he knew was that Orochimaru didn't like it when the blue stuff was acting like this.

Orochimaru simply followed the procedures. Their pen scratched the paper a little too loudly. At this point, he knew that these abrasive movements indicated nothing but frustration. But really, it became somewhat normal for them to be disappointed with the clones lately. Fail after fail, no combination seemed to be viable. No amount of research and trial erased the errors.

He took one look at the dark-haired figure as they stopped writing and sighed.

“This one is also wrong?” He asked.

“Unfortunately. “ Orochimaru answered briefly. “He wouldn't survive a second outside the capsule.”

He turned away, looking into the icy blue liquid. He felt his intestines move weirdly. An uncomfortable, fiery filling filled him as he watched the creature move. It had formed so well. At least he thought so before today. It was looking like a healthy, normal specimen just yesterday. He wanted it to succeed.

“What's wrong?” Orochimaru asked, making him shudder.

“It… I feel bad.” He answered, not averting his gaze from the creature.

“Describe what you feel, please.” Orochimaru stood up, their voice channeling an emotion he couldn't quite grasp. They didn't quite sound scared. Or curious. He hadn't seen them like that yet.

“My stomach.” He answered.” It feels numb. And my eyes produce tears, even though they're not dry. My face also feels strange. Like a fever.”

“Oh, darling.” He didn't know this emotion on Orochimaru's face either. “Does it feel harder to breathe too?”

“Yes, but… not physically. I am sorry, it doesn't make sense to me.”

“You are experiencing sadness, darling.” Orochimaru placed their hand on his shoulder. It made him feel better, for some reason. “Are you sad about this specimen?”

He looked through the glass again. White skin of the creature now showed blue veins all over it. He suddenly felt like air rose up from his lungs and got stuck in his throat. He watched as the creature twitched once again, its face contorting in an unpleasant, unappealing matter. Like one time he got his vaccines. It was painful. The creature was in pain.

Orochimaru sat down on the floor next to him, inviting him to sit in their lap.

“I'm sorry I didn't teach you that yet. Sadness is normal. It is a part of everyone's lives.” They gently ran their fingers through his hair.

“Why does it feel wrong then?” He asked back.

“Many things will feel wrong in your life. It's your body and mind signaling to you that you need a change. In your body, or mind.” They were smiling. They always smiled. He had assumed that everyone wanted to smile all the time, just like his master.

“You feel sad too?” He looked back at the tube.

“Of course. About many things.” They chuckled. “I had a life full of sadness. And now I feel sad about this experiment failing once again.”

He leaned forward, touching the glass.

“Does it feel sad too?”

Orochimaru sighed.

“No. I made sure it doesn't.”

“How?” He turned to look at Orochimaru.

“It doesn't feel anything. No pain, no…”

“No!” He jumped to his feet. “No, no! You can stop the body from pain, I know. But what about the mind? Can you stop the mind from pain?”

The yellow serpentine eyes rounded up as they looked at him. He couldn't recognise the facial expression yet, but he knew it was harmless. Their lips were now in a different smile. Less prominent and somehow bordering on frustration . Their eyelids were half-closed, relaxed. And their eyebrows rose up.

“Are you sad because you think it feels pain like you?”

“It is me!” He yelled.

The features of the creature in the liquid were undeniably his. He spent hours looking in the mirror. Observing his eyes, his nose, his hair, and all the little details about it. And the creature was the same. Same structure, from the tips of their eyelashes to their fingernails. When looking into a blue, cold liquid –all he saw was another him. The smooth forms, deformed by the liquid and glass, were all his. His light hair, his pale skin, and his amber eyes.

He felt tears flow down his cheeks and touched them, confused.

He knew this emotion. He was angry. But why did he cry?

“Come here, let me explain.” Orochimaru lifted their hands, in a wide motion. He recognized it. It was a hug.

He sat down and let Orochimaru put their bodies closer together.

“Now.” They continued. “Let's go over everything again.You do know who you are, right?”

“I am your son.” He replied.

“And what's inside the capsule?”

“A clone.”

“Yes. A clone.” Orochimaru moved their head up and down. A nod.” You know what makes a difference between my son and a clone?”

“What?” He raised his head to look at Orochimaru's face.

“Clones don't have a soul.” They smiled. “That's why you can feel sadness and it can't.”

“But…how do you know?”

Orochimaru's eyebrows moved. The ends closer to their nose moved down.

“It's… complicated.” They looked inside the capsule for the first time since they started speaking. “It shows in a million little ways, darling. In how it reacts to different stimulations. Activity in the brain is what indicates a soul has found its place.”

They sighed.

“And this one didn't react to anything. Its brain never developed properly. It simply can't feel.”

The boy didn't answer, only pressing his face closer to Orochimaru. The warm hand once again caressed his hair.

“You are one in a million, darling. You were a clone, yes. But you are also nothing like it anymore. You have surpassed all of my expectations. A real human soul, inside an artificial body. You are my greatest achievement.”

“Why?” He asked.

“Why?” They seemed confused, not ready to answer immediately.

“Clones aren't supposed to have a soul, right? You told me clones are supposed to be a vessel for you, right? It's just an empty bottle that would be strong enough to contain you.” He swept away his tears. “Then why am I not a failure like it? I also came out wrong. I'm not suitable for you.”

Orochimaru watched the boy stand up and reach out his hand towards the glass. His little fingers now tinted blue because of the light glow coming from inside the specimens capsule.

“Why do you discard it, but keep me?” He asked quietly.

The boy turned to look at Orochimaru. They closed and opened their mouth, without producing a sound, seemingly confused.

“I…couldn't.” They answered. “I couldn't. That's it.”

“Why?” The boy felt his lungs get tighter again. “Am I not also a failure?”

“No. You're a miracle.” They looked into his eyes and moved closer, touching his cheeks with their fingers. The very touch made his mind feel warm. “I couldn't even imagine that something as complex and beautiful as a soul can be possessed by my creation.”

They looked at the little, disfigured body inside the tank and sighed.

“You are not a mistake. You are more than my blood or my work. You are more than a body and way more than its intended purpose. I couldn't imagine you coming into my life. I could never deserve to have you. And yet, by some unknown blessing – you are here now .”

They smiled and the boy felt his mind get…warm.

“You are my son. My love.”

The boy felt his chest get so light it now hurt, as a result of sudden change. He once again rushed into his parent’s embrace, hoping for the comfort he had yet to understand. He felt them repeatedly touch his hair in a wide, sweeping motion with their palm.

“What's it called?” He asked, rapidly breathing in with his nose, trying to avoid liquid from his nose spreading over his parent's clothes.

“What do you mean?”

“The hand thing…”

“Oh. This is a caress. People do it to make others feel better. It's soothing.”

The boy nodded. “It's working.”

He couldn't understand his parent's laughter. But knew that he had delighted them.

Kelly the Betta fish! Life in town isn't so watery, but Oro has a tube system that goes through her club so Kelly can dance there. And there is a section called "the fishbowl" in the club where smaller aquatic customers can come through to talk with the airwalkers.

I agree with you when you say one of the perspectives is that Sakura isn’t the mother who birthed Sarada, but I don’t see Karin being either? I don’t see Sasuke willingly having sex with those women or wanting to have a child with them. It’s possible of Sarada to be a test tube with Karin maybe but why would Sasuke give Sarada for Sakura to raise? If he doesn’t want any ties with her, he wouldn’t give her a child to say they are connected (even with the most depressed face ever).

The most logical explanation would be that Salad is a test tube baby made in Oro's laboratory. There's too much sus stuff surrounding his lab and when you consider the Shins in the Gaiden storyline, it makes it more likely. Hell it could be Sakura herself asked Oro to do it. You never know what lengths she would go to have a connection to Sasuke.

Karin keeping the umbilical cord serves to tell us one thing, that Sakura and Salad's connection isn't that amazing since Sakura doesn't bother to keep the cord herself. Since the umbilical cord in Japanese culture represents the bond between the mother and the child, which is why the biological mother is supposed to keep it.

Rolf! I thought Karin had appeared in Boruto b/c of all the sk hate on twt, the usual, lies about how she wanted to 'r' and drug sasuke, and to block shippers since they don't exist only trolls (I guess I'm a troll lol). Turns out the latest Boruto chapter has Eida changing memories but Otsutsuki are unaffected, and Sarada, so fans have been speculating if Otsutsuki bloodlines are also immune, hence Karin is being mentioned in Boruto theory posts of who could be immune and it's set them off 😆

I was wondering too why Sarada wasn't affected, considering even Mitsuki was. I don't believe Sasuke slept with Karin, but the theory Sarada is merely a test tube baby made in Oro's lab suddenly got more to back it up now lol

The unexpected sound of harsh, wet hacking broke your fervent concentration as you stood at your station in the otherwise silent lab -- the very same wet hacking you experienced yourself a little over a week ago after having collapsed in the hallway on your way to work. Gazing up from your row of test tubes, your eyes fell upon an unexpected sight. Two tables away, Orochimaru was hunched over the counter, gripping the edge of his table with straining knuckles and face tucked into his elbow. His shoulders tensed and body wracked with each damp, rattling cough.

"Orochimaru… are you alright?" You inquired as you set down your work and carefully approached.

Clearing his throat, the serpent righted himself and shifted his piercing gaze toward you. His pale face was flushed and looked clammier than usual. Long, raven locks clung to his dampened skin. He looked like hell. "Nothing to worry yourself about," he croaked, waving his hand dismissively.

"You sound terrible. Did you catch what I had?" Worry stained your voice as you stood next to him. A feverish heat radiated from his normally reptilian skin as your fingertips grazed his arm.

"I'm fine." His eyes glinted dangerously in the harsh fluorescent light, giving him the air of a wounded beast as he recoiled from your hand.

"You're sick," you insisted, now doing your best to remain stoic without crumbling under his murderous glaring. "You really ought to go rest."

"Your concern is noted, but I'm afraid there's much work to be done. I can't simply take time off every time I feel a touch under the weather."

You narrowed your eyes and folded your arms defiantly. "You made me take almost a week off when I was 'a touch under the weather'," you retorted.

A low chuckle rumbled in his chest as he condescendingly patted your cheek with an unusually warm palm. "You, my dear, could hardly walk unassisted and were mumbling through fever dreams in your sleep for two days straight. We are not the same."

You gripped his hand as it contacted your face and your ears prickled with heat, further narrowing your eyes with concern. "Your hands are warm. They're never warm. That Zetsu body isn't indestructible, Orochimaru. Let me take care of things here for a day or two. You need a break."

"In what world are you living that you think you can give me orders?" He hissed viciously.

Standing your ground, you maintained your grip on his hand as you attempted to bolster your position with a half-baked idea. "I swear, don't make me call Kabuto."

Orochimaru balked in the face of your threat. Ordinarily, you were not so boldly defiant with him, especially in the laboratory. "You will do no such thing."

"I will if you don't take a break. Please, Orochimaru… you look awful. All of this stuff… I can handle it." You were rapidly losing the bite that held up your little display of bravery as those wicked, amber eyes burned holes through your resolve. "At least let me make you some tea and just put this down for a few hours."

Studying the intensity of your expression and taking in the full breadth of your genuine concern for his well-being, Orochimaru stifled another cough but ultimately relented to your badgering. Curse those eyes, he thought, berating himself over his own weakness for you. Had any of his other subordinates behaved this way toward him, they might find themselves mysteriously removed from the world of the living. But you, you were different. You held this strange power over him that he couldn't seem to name. That soft, caring smile and sweet, adoring gaze cast an unnerving spell that he just couldn't break. "I suppose it can wait a few hours," he sighed, putting aside his work and curling a long arm around your shoulders to allow you to walk him back to his room.

While he didn't exactly need you to physically support him to walk, you mirrored his stance and wrapped an arm around his waist as the two of you made your way back toward his room, trying to camouflage your surprise at how unsettlingly warm he felt. All the while, he prattled on about specifics regarding the experiment you had been assisting him with, leaving you instructions as to how you should proceed between bouts of coughing. You knew all of these things already, but you didn't dare interrupt his explanations. The fact that he was telling you all of this indicated that he was at the very least considering taking a bit of time off to battle the very obvious illness he had certainly caught while taking care of you.

Once he finally relented and climbed into his bed, you hurriedly scampered off to procure tea. While boiling water in the quaint little kitchenette tucked away in a quiet corner of the compound, you rummaged through the fridge, looking for anything else that might help him feel better. The need to take care of him pulled heavily on your heart strings, especially after last week. Your bout of illness unveiled a side of the sannin that you rarely saw. Despite your limited memory of the worst of your feverish delirium, you knew Orochimaru had hardly left your side. You remembered the feeling of his fingers gently brushing along your hairline as he sat beside you and continued his research with your head in his lap. Even in that state, you felt his presence, softly hushing your confused mumblings and placing cool cloths on your forehead to alleviate your discomfort. He deserved the same level of care, even if he didn't want to admit that he needed it.

Determined to make a difference, you set a tray on the counter and put together a bowl of warm soup and his favorite cup of tea, seasoning it with a bit of honey to help with his cough and made your way back to the room. You pressed the door open with your foot and set the tray down on the nightstand beside his bed, trying to disguise your disapproving look when you found him with research notes sprawled out across his lap. "You can't take a break from your work if you bring your work to bed with you," you scolded him teasingly while offering him the mug of aromatic tea. "I meant it when I said I'd call Kabuto if you're going to be a difficult patient."

A low, raspy chuckle rolled from his throat as he lifted the mug from your hands. "That won't be necessary."

With a knowing hum, you gathered the papers strewn about the bed and stacked them up, setting them aside on the desk a few feet away. "I brought soup, too."

Orochimaru took a long, satisfied drink from the carefully brewed cup of tea before setting it aside and glancing at the bowl resting atop the tray you brought in. "You behave as though I'm on my deathbed," he mused.

"If you have what I had, you might need a little coddling," you said with a nervous twist of your mouth. "Whether you want to admit it or not, you're sick."

"Bring those papers back over here. I can eat and read at the same time," he held out a hand expectantly.

"No," you crossed your arms stubbornly.

"No?" He echoed with an incredulous laugh.

"The work can wait," you insisted more quietly, parking yourself on the edge of the bed, entwining your fingers around his. "You told me the same thing."

"While I appreciate your concern for me, I'm going to remember this little bout of defiance later," he hummed with a wicked glint in his eye as he reached for the bowl, untangling his fingers from yours after a few moments in order to actually eat.

Heat prickled through your face at the implication. You knew precisely what he was getting at and were now thoroughly flustered. "Not until you stop hacking up a lung," you stammered. Even when he looked like hell, his ability to get under your skin remained strong as ever.

"My being a touch ill is no excuse for you to think you're in charge here," he stated casually with a crooked smile as he sipped a spoonful of the soup you brought him. He set the bowl down in his lap for a moment and reached a pale hand toward your face, tenderly tracing slender digits purposefully from your cheek down to your jawline, pausing to lightly grasp your chin. "Now, be a dear and bring me the rest of my notes from the lab," he murmured, bright amber orbs fixated on you.

His gaze bordered on being hypnotic, and you melted into his touch. Every bit of fortitude you had left crumbled away under his fingertips. "O-of course," you breathed.

"Thank you."

Orochimaru X Enji

Orochimaru is a snake and he likes warm things. Enji is very very warm (and even warming inside hehe).

They have kids "for science" - Oro because he's interested in what a kid with chakra and a quirk would be like and Enji because he wants powerful kids.

The kids are born from test tubes, but it works.

And then like canon, Orochimaru falls in love with the kid and becomes the Best Dad Ever, never missing a parent-teacher meeting and always ready to help with homework.

Orochimaru decides he wants more kids. He grows them in the test tubes without bothering to ask Enji's opinion.
