No I’m fine just thinking about how the song sleepyhead by passion pit samples a sped up version of an old Irish Gaelic lullaby because the artists grandma used to sing it to him when he was younger

Could we potentially see O'Connor and Mary singing ‘Oro Mo Bhaidin’ together? I miss the guy

HC: He hears Mary singing that to him when he's stuck in the pontoons literally on the verge of insanity...this man has been through it (Recovery AU ending under the cut!)

re:your tags on your latest post - i'm taking you up on your offer, what are your favorite songs!
AH YES a task for me! here in somewhat of an order but not really:
joanna newsom - time, as a symptom: I love all of joanna newsom but this one is my favourite because it thematically speaks to me. I love thinking about time
the cranberries - dreams: this song has actually only recently really reached me, maybe because my studies are ending and my life is changing every day in every possible way...
judy collins - albatross: this is honestly just such a vibe
you were there from ICO: ICO is one of my favourite games and I loooove this song, I always love a good boy soprano
talking heads - this must be the place (naive melody): I have a bit of a conundrum with this because I wouldn't call this my favourite song overall from talking heads (my favourite band) but it is a nice and genuine song which speaks to me
peter gabriel ft. kate bush - don't give up: heartfelt. timeless. always topical. encouraging. you're not beaten yet.
fear a bhata: one of the most beautiful melodies ever and a lovely, lovely rendition
fleetwood mac - tusk: the logic here is that I love fleetwood mac and this is my fave song from them
enya - caribbean blue: I remember when I heard this as a kid for the first time I was mesmerised and I still am. if every man was trueee
oro mo bhaidin: irish music is the best, what can I say. I think I was an irish sailor in a past life
karjalan kumbuzil: this is a popular folk song from my own culture! I sing this all the time (in finnish though, I cannot speak karelian, but I want to include the karelian version for awareness reasons haha!)

Blue Ridge Mountains by the Fleet Foxes is always giving me NA Bros vibes. Evergreen by Ritcy Mitch & the Coal Miners generally just has Canada energy to me as well.
Also, even if it’s traditional, Mary O’Hara’s cover of Oro Mo Bhaidin gives me a lot of feels about Ireland emigrating. It’s a very gentle song and kind of sounds like a lullaby, but it has a sorrowful undertone to it that’s very fitting. The lyrics are also strangely celebratory in spite of the tone of the song. It has a lot of emotions wrapped up in it.
OH MAN I love that one. Fleet Foxes is so fucking good. Their song Mykonos will rot my brain for the rest of my too. EVERGREEN omfg saving that one. That's a good one.
I have never heard her cover of Oro Mo Bhaidin and I'm.... literally I can imagine Brighid singing that, harp and all. That's a song that makes me wish I could put my head in my mother's lap and cry. That's, god that's good stuff.
