Southeast Addiction Infographic
Choosing the right addiction treatment center can be paramount in one’s chance at recovery. While the treatment facility creates a foundation of tools needed for recovery, it is truly the individual, & not the addiction treatment center that determines the end result.

When I started detoxing from my opioids and benzodiazepines, I didn’t write a post like this. In fact, I didn’t tell anyone to start with. I was too scared of judgment and assholeish behaviour, and in too fragile a state. It was only once I was literal months into the detox process (and able to do anything other than curl up in a ball and sweat out what I’m pretty sure was pure fentanyl) that I started talking about my choice to detox after a decade and a bit of prescribed opioids and benzodiazepines. But once I did, I found a flood of support that saw me through my worst days 💛 and I found a community of people who’d done this very hard thing before me, and who supported and advised me every step of the way (it was not a proud moment texting my friend to ask if shitting green water for 12 hours straight was a normal withdrawal symptom, but her answers helped a lot 😂👍🏻). And even better, so many people got in touch to tell me how much sharing my experiences of detox helped, inspired and encouraged them ❤️ So... I’m still adjusting to my body without those drugs; and my brain! But, because I’m a glutton for punishment, I’ve decided to try reducing and potentially even detoxing completely from the last non-prn drug in my pot; pregabalin. Like opioids and benzodiazepines, studies are now showing massive potential short and long term issues and side effects. And tbh, I feel so much more myself off the other meds, I want to see how much more of myself I’ll find without these. I’m deeply lucky to have such an incredible palliative care consultant who I know has my back; if I tell her I can’t do this, or the pain is too bad for me to function, than we stop, we reassess, and we charge things. And I’m still prescribed all my pain and seizure meds; they’re always there when I need them. But I’m gonna try. If anyone has advice on coming off pregabalin, message me! I know from previous adjustments I can get very anxious, but that was with larger increases/decreases and we’re staying small this time, so I’m hoping to avoid the 3am panic attacks. #pregabalin💊 #detoxing #opioiddetox #benzodetox #igotthis https://www.instagram.com/p/CK1qcqojB5j/?igshid=1tvvn2c62cjdd

My adopted auntie and best friend/big brother and his lovely girlfriend hosted our weekly virtual quiz last night and the moment I got to the mythology round I knew Jakes had written it... I also knew the little shite had included the question “which opiate drug is named after the Greek god of dreams?” Just for my detoxing ass 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 He knows me well enough to know I’d laugh 😂! #quiznight #mybigbrothercanbeashite😂 #opioiddetox #laughteristhebestmedicine💊 https://www.instagram.com/p/CCQeknZjAuf/?igshid=5r73a9e7js51

Prescription pain medication Lortab: understanding the risks. Lortab contains acetaminophen which can cause liver damage if misused by taking it too often. A person who abuses hydrocodone-based medications or takes them together with central nervous system depressants such as alcohol or benzodiazepines can also suffer an overdose.
Lortab use and abuse can rapidly manifest into addiction. Florida Center for Recovery offers rehab programs for individuals struggling with Lortab dependency. Our addiction treatment team is experienced in developing recovery plans to address the client's substance abuse and the underlying issues associated with the development of the addiction.

Every day, more than 130 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids.
WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE OPIOID CRISIS?
- Roughly 21 to 29 percent of patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them.
- Between 8 and 12 percent develop an opioid use disorder. An estimated 4 to 6 percent who misuse prescription opioids transition to heroin.
- About 80 percent of people who use heroin first misused prescription opioids.
If you believe you may be struggling with opioid addiction, get help.
Florida Center for Recovery (FCR) offers opioid addiction treatment with specialized therapies for individuals 18 and older through private inpatient rehab services. Established in 2002, FCR is a medical detox and rehabilitation facility providing comprehensive therapeutic programs to treat addiction and its underlying related mental health conditions. Opioids are prescribed to treat pain. With prolonged use, pain-relieving effects may lessen and pain can become worse. In addition, the body can develop dependence. Opioid dependence causes withdrawal symptoms, which makes it difficult to stop taking them. Addiction occurs when dependence interferes with daily life. Taking more than the prescribed amount or using illegal opioids like heroin may result in death.

As we now understand more about opioids we realize that opioid epidemic is not solely about illegal drugs, it is actually about legal prescription painkiller drugs like OxyContin, Percocet and Fentanyl. Now, an everywhere problem, affecting virtually anyone and every community, opioid overdoses are considered to be the leading cause of shortened life expectancy in the U.S. According to the most recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), opioids, which includes prescription opioids and heroin, killed more than 56,000 people in 2016. That is 24,000 more deaths than car accidents and it is projected that in 2017 that number will surpass the previous year. In Florida, opioids were the direct cause of death of 2,538 people and contributed to an additional 1,358 deaths in 2015 (the last year for which data is available).
Tackling the overdose epidemic will require more than federal grants for our state, it will require national efforts to curb doctors' overprescribing practices, curb the manufacturing of addictive dangerous illicit drugs, lessening the stigma surrounding addiction, and beginning to treat addiction as a chronic illness. Seeing the afflicted individual as the one who each of us could be. Seeing them as the sons, the daughters, the fathers, the mothers, the sisters and the brothers who are in urgent need of treatment. A treatment that is as available as the treatments for cancer, heart disease and other debilitating illnesses.

Since the turn of the century, the number of opioid overdose deaths has escalated more than 400% with tens of thousands of lives now being lost every year. But many deaths can be prevented with a life-saving treatment: naloxone. When given right away, naloxone can work in minutes to reverse an overdose. #Naloxone is safe, has few side effects, and some forms can be administered by friends and family.
