Staging concept: Ophelia carries around a book that she uses to press different flowers and plants. At one point we see her actually pressing one of the flowers Hamlet's given her before, and we get the impression that she wouldn't part with this book for the world. During the "Get thee to a nunnery" scene, Hamlet rips the book out of her hands, and she goes diving after it to make sure he didn't damage it. And during her final "mad scene", she starts tearing out the relevant pages (rosemary, pansies, fennel, columbines, etc.) to give to everyone present. Laertes is the only one to get the significance of his sister giving away parts of her prized possession, and it adds an extra layer to his grief.

Spellbreaker: A Scholomance Sequel

I finally finished my fic! I've been cranking away at it for 10 months like El translating the golden enclave spells when she should have been doing schoolwork, but it's finally done, yay!

Summary:

I wanted to be a wizard, but I guess I was doomed to be Grandma’s little monster instead.

El and Orion’s son is a mundane struggling to cope in the wizard world, but as Jacob gets older, his disdain for wizards’ treatment of mundanes grows like the distance between him and his parents. When Jacob develops a strange new ability, his maleficer grandmother preys on the opportunity. What side will Jacob land on? His decision could change the world of wizards and mundanes forever.

(This fic has a humorous tone similar to the original series, builds on the established magic system without contradicting any existing elements, and contains additional worldbuilding. )

i am not posting the whole thing bc it sounds absolutely ridiculous in aggregate but i DID locate this death note/hamlet au i wrote absolutely ages ago with the dialogue in elizabethan english so i am sharing the good part(tm) now. ft. light as hamlet and L as ophelia, who is now a paramour sent to the prince as a gift

L knelt in front of Light. For a moment Light thought he was about to bow, but he did not; instead he lifted Light’s hand and raised his knuckles to his lips. Gently, he kissed them. “If my liege can trust my vulgar tongue,” he said, “my duke wants your favour. I myself do not. I want your hand.” He kissed it again, then rose on his knees, leaning towards Light, the heat of him close. He smelled somehow of metal and earth. He must have been looking through the garden for evidence of Light’s father’s killer; Light had asked him not to — he was already certain of who that was — but that meant very little to L. He traced a finger down Light’s arm. Light shivered, and did not pull away. “And your arms.” He touched Light’s throat, which quivered. “And your throat. And the nape of your neck.” A touch. “And your foolish hair.” He brushed it away from Lights cheek. “And your lips, which are no more honest than mine own.” He ran the back of his finger along Light’s lips.
