exactly like that! though she's not the only one...

edit: might need to add some additional dialogue to this to make it more clear, but a clarification in the interim; he knows about his own footprints. he's just surprised to see something similar already there when he knows he's only just landed. he lifts his own shoe to confirm that they're not identical (and also to reveal this to the viewer). seems his stoicism beat off the clarity in this one, sorry 😭

Theory with no coherent proof on my part: brenner only visibly ages rapidly when a portal is open.

#brenner 'dies' very early on after rhe portal opens in s1 so we dont see the effects #but in s4 he looks considerably older.#then in s5 he apparently has a whole bald cap - portal that opened at the end of s4 has been open for approx 1.5 years #theres the tie in to the ptsd/trauma metaphor with the UD representing repressed memories #or repressed memories aka 'lost time' in someone memory #the whole thing where ppl with traumatic childhoods cant remember their childhoods very well and it comes back sooner or later #i wonder if there is a supernatural tie into that in st? like when a portal opens to the UD all that 'lost time' suddenly is allowed back #into the light aka out of the subconscious and into the conscious re flashbacks and memory retrieval #i dont believe NINA at all beyond the flashbacks el has before brenner got involved #bc it seems to me that brenner possibly took advtg of els vulnerable state to possibly manipulate her memory retrieval #which irl has been a long time point of controversy which is psychologists convinving patients that they have memories of trauma #they dont actually have. which idk how valid that is but brenner is a psychologist so if anyone he could find a way #also when the 'lost time' comes back to the surface brenner ages bc of those time loops begin to unravel. the real years brenner has lived #take its toll rather than him de aging as time loops back again to the beginning #very dr who of him. or at least every time he dies its another time loop thats created except from our perspective as the audience we #wouldnt know. because we are only watching from a set linear timeline (1983-1986) and we dont see the time line resetting itself #since all the timelines are similar enough with only small differences ('easter eggs')#tying this into the wheelers- their name literally means 'creator/operator of wheels' aka time loops. so are they The Source?#with the subtext surrounding 'truths' and 'lies' in ST i dont necessarily believe all timeloops are created equal #one must be the 'true' timeline while the others must be 'lies'. aka lonnie saying how people sometimes make things up 'to cope'#that and the heavy subtext behind hawkins being a cursed town. not necessarily anywhere else in the US #and how you can only open portals in hawkins per alexei #makes me thinks these arent legitimate timeloops. like time isnt physically looping back and rerunning events bc otherwise it wouldnt only #affect one small town in indiana. also we dont see the UD/the MF be able to affect time itself but rather ppls perception of time aka #mind control and memories. meaning that could it be time isnt actually looping but rather everyone in hawkins has their memories wiped and #recreated every time there is an inciting incident (which is unknown)#^this doesnt really explain how brenner is able to revive every time he dies unless brenner is actually an admin of this system and lives #'outside' the time loop. so. brenner is a video game character actually whos actual player is blissfully safe from harm outside of the the #computer screen #isnt this just the plot of the matrix. with 'the source' (the central computing core aka the wheelers?) and keymakers etc etc

getting emotional about splatoon again. god. that fucking squid makes me feel things about my own life im crying all over my yogurt

#pov youve been into splatoon since the first game and in splatoon 3 theres the new capn and thats YOU. thats you those years ago.#thats the kid that saved up their money to buy a wii u. opening it up the first time digging for the splatoon download code hoping it works #ans then it does and then youre in this new colorful world full of whimsy and. and then you got splatoon 2 and a switch for Christmas #and now this lonely teen gets to experience that joy again.#of opening up the switch and putting in the cardridge and inputting the online subscription code hoping it works. and then it does.#and youre back in inkopolis.#and you get yourself octo expansion after watching a playthrough while abroad visiting your family. and you get to pick the looks of agent 3 #and the game asks you because thats you. thats the kid those years ago. thats the teen playing right now. thats you.#and now youre an adult. you preordered splatoon three. you played it on the bus drive home. and you enter the story mode.#and youre faced again with yourself.#that kid finding joy in this world when home wasnt the best.#that teen finding community and frienedship n this game when they had noone to talk to #and you realize how far youve come. and youre proud of yourself. and youre happy youre alive #and now youre an adult who doesnt know exactly where to go from here. but will keep trying.#if not for yourself now. then maybe for a future you who will remember this. then maybe for the past you that you look back to.#and im not even mentioning all the transgender stuff #im not normal about this game guys #fishbrain thoughts

similar to the greentext stuff - i was visiting with my neighbors and their grandkids were around, and I said to this eight year old, "Hey, you wanna know something cool? oh that's fun lmao, when minecraft & that update's existed for more than your whole life, and yknow being that young and like Next Year fr is this huge time scale away, a couple of years is a quarter of your life thus far and like maybe nigh half of the part of your life you actually have longterm memories for....i was checking out this dev's blog's archives about a:tdd's release in 2010 & in one entry they compared the implicitly Roughly concurrent release of Minecraft and i was like hey whoah. forever primarily being a game i've Heard Of more than any more direct exposure so i had no precise sense of [before minecraft release] [after minecraft release] Year 0 there but it's like for sure back in thee day when minecraft was a new thing, huh

#diana's music diary #good morning #i slept early #it was nice #very cozy #I only slept like 4 hours though cause I had to get up for a delivery... also I'm posting this a couple of hours after waking...#as is becoming usual for these... I've been kind of vibing to music pretty much...#anyway yesterday was good but so exhausting... played lethal company with friends like I'd said which was really fun!! was a little bit of #process getting my bearings in it since I'd seen maybe one second of gameplay before but after a day or two in game I picked it up I'd say!#I mostly just ran away when I saw something scary but I tried scanning a monster and it opened the door which made me scream once ahaha #after that I was a lil tired but we ended up having a session of the project moon ttrpg I'm in kind of out of nowhere #it was short but v fun to play Frei again he kind of completely shut down the distortion singlehandedly which was surprising considering he #has no combat capability.. incapacitated them and read its mind which helped us figure out what we needed to do to resolve the distortion #-peacefully! my partners character did the actual resolving cause Frei is terrified of going near anything as gross as that distortion was #(it was a giant gross greasy burger monster. who was just bob from bobs burgers. he ended up in a polycule with linda and teddy after.)#Frei also read my partners characters mind a bit and maybe upset him a little by mentioning his daughter (her character is divorced lol)#anyway yeah... I think a 10yo just got attached to me in genshin and if this keeps up its gonna make me not wanna play cuz I don't wanna come off as mean if I have to tell her to give me some space, but I wanna play in peace ya know?

#she came into my world i think saturday night or sunday morning. thats how long i played. and chatted for a minute then left #then the second i logged on this morning she immediately hopped in and started calling me Ed #and she was asking questions and im polite so i answered and she was like you can ask me questions #and since she asked how old i was i asked back snd she was all uh um well im 10 #and thats fine to me cuz im not gonna be a weirdo anyway #but then she asked if i had a wife and i said no im not interested in girls so thats probably when she was sure i was a safe adult #and someone else joined and she dm'ed me that she didnt like him and right after he left so did she #and when i opened my world back up later she immediately popped in again #and wanted me to go to whatever a playstation party is while i was doing a quest and i had to politely tell her no twice #and then it segwayed into material hunting with her so i could still do something productive in game at least #but at one point she called me her bff and started talking about how she just got a phone #and im worried she may end up asking for my number or something. like hell nah #like. im all for being friendly and playing a game together and casual chatting. again. i have no intention of EVER being a weirdo #but shes coming off as immediately REALLY attached and i dont need to be going through shit like that again #ive had people get REALLY attached to me in some games previously and not leave me alone while im trying to play #and then they blow up at me when i ask for some space. so i dont wanna deal with that again #especially from a 10yo. i really dont wanna upset anyone by rejecting them or asking for space #but sometimes its too much and i just wanna do what i want in the game #and i kinda really dont wanna have a 10yo tailing me the whole time i wanna play #especially cuz shes 10 ya know? friends are cool but im a little too old to be a bff to her imo #i think i'll just try keeping my world closed when i log off so i wont log on and she immediately pop in first thing #i dont wanna block her off completely cuz i dont mind if she comes by every once in a while. just not all the time ya know?#personal
