Day 1 let’s go, this is gonna be a lot of fun I can feel it in my jellies. Time for Reed to take centre stage. We haven’t had many non pixelated Fantastic 4 pictures yet, but I thought the blue above was the best match to the original suits.

Synopsis:- Reed hears cry’s for help & leaps into action.

Word count:- 700

Mr fantastic hears the screams as he was leaving the grocery store.

“Help help” echoed above him.

He always had his suit on underneath his coat just incase he was needed to spring into action. A reluctant hero who would much rather be known for his science, but now with his new found fame he knew he could try & get his research out there for the world to see. Being a superhero was a blessed curse.

He listened through the noise of the city to hear where your screams of help were coming from & he quickly outstretched his arms, grabbing onto balcony’s to come to your cries of help. Luckily for him it was in the same block. Minimal effort.

“Help me oh god please someone help me”

“I’m on my way” you hear back assuming it’s just in your head this half hearted response.

“I don’t know what to do”

“Stay calm” he says as he finally pushes himself over the top floor & onto your balcony & fully slides open the door. You look startled. What’s mr Fantastic doing in your apartment? You quickly step back, in a state of shock, knowing a baseball bat is in the cupboard behind you.

“Ahhhh Mr Fantastic!” It’s comes out high pitched. You can tell he’s assessing the situation in front of him. Your apartment shows no sign of a struggle or anyone in pain. You move to the side a little as he inspected the room, still in easy reach of the bat in the cupboard. “What are you doing here?”

“I heard cries for help, so I left my groceries downstairs & flung up the building. It was clearly your voice” He says looking you up & down, to check you didn’t have bruises from a potential fit that you might have just gotten over & had no memory about. He smirks at the fact your skirt stops mid thigh.

“Oooooh im sorry” you say, he looks confused. “I’m rehearsing lines for a play I am in, it’s the opening scene where I discover my best friends body” he drops his shoulders & sighs.

“Seriously?”

“Yea seriously” he tuts. “We preview next week so I thought I’d get some more lines perfected”

“Well clearly you’re very convincing as this calls for help made me climb up here to save you” he says.

“Well I’m sorry I wasted your time, but it’s good to know there’s a super hero near by should I ever need one”

He nods & goes to take his leave, noticing the script & a few props on the table, but you then stop him.

“Mr fantastic, as I was someone in distress, you did technically come up here to rescue me… does that mean I get a kiss from the hero?”

He chuckles.

“We’re not all stereotypes” he says but he knows you’ve clocked him looking you up & down.

“Even if it’s just a peck,”but suddenly his hands wrap around your arms. Mr fantastic with his stretchy talents & he pulls you into him & does a Hollywood kiss on you, the one you always see in classic movies. Your foot pops & everything as his tongue invades your mouth. Your cheeks turning redder. Your own hand moving into his hair which fees so soft. Often grey hair feels slightly different to usual hair due to the lack of pigment but this just felt so good.

He spins you back so you are on both your feet & smirks.

“I hope the play goes well” & with that he takes 5 large extended strides back & leaps over the top of your balcony & lowers himself back towards the floor below, his shopping will still be waiting for him. You look down & sigh like your a long lost love who will never see him again.

“Ooooh he was so dreamy” you coo.

1. Red Light by @kiwisbell

you may NEVER hear me stop talking about this fic. EVER. Red Light!Joel has taken up more headspace than anything else in a good long while, and i’ve reread this fic so many times if you asked me to rewrite it from memory i probably could, but i wouldn’t, because i’d never do it the justice kiwi did. this fic basically belongs to me, because no one can love it as much as me. i could go on and on, but there’s not enough time in the world.

2. The Dress Series by @janaispunk

can i let y’all in on a secret? i got the outrageous honour of talking to jana about the third part in this series, it’s like getting a shoutout from an artist winning a grammy, only better. this series restarted my obsession with dave, and i’ve had such brainrot about him since i started. LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY SOUL it’s so good, and the taylor titles GOD.

3. Las Mañanas by @kiwisbell

i had to be very careful, or else every fic on my top five list would be one of kiwi’s and people would think i’m biased (i am, just a little). so i only chose my two favourites, and this series was one of them. it brought so much light and life to the minutes i spent reading it, and i just had the best time!! javi my beloved, you have such a special place in my cold, dead heart, you wife-loving POOKIE!!

4. The In My Hometown Series by @swiftispunk

A SERIES INSPIRED BY ‘TIS THE DAMN SEASON *buries face into pillow and screams* ‘tis the damn season is one of my all time favourite songs, and it was done SUCH JUSTICE. this fic had just the right amount of everything, and i’m so grateful i got to read it!!

What song do you know all the lyrics to?

Erm… most? Well, at least most songs I regularly listen to. Back in the day when we’d still buy CDs I would get a new album and sit in my bedroom listening to it beginning to end, while reading along to the lyrics in the booklet. And oooooh, I would get so furious when bands had a booklet that did not include song lyrics. Wtf is wrong with you?? SO ANGRY! haha

What song do you pretend to know all the lyrics to and sing along to even though you don't?

It’s the End of the World As We Know It by R.E.M. I get to ‘eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn’ and then I’m lost until we hit the chorus lol But it’s such a fun song to pretend to sing along to, and really just making vaguely appropriate noises at the right time, until the chorus kicks in again… and of course we’re all ready to shout LEONARD BERNSTEIN! Hahaha

If you were to be crowned Queen/King/Royalty of listening to a band or artist, who would that be?

That would have to be Dirty Pretty Things. I fell in love with The Libertines just as they were falling apart and a few weeks away from calling it quits for good, so when Carl Barât announced the first tour of his new band Dirty Pretty Things I wasn’t gonna miss out again. So I flew to Ireland and then to England and attended the first 5 gigs of their first tour. And that pretty much set the tone for the next couple of years of my life. I ended up flying to the UK so much and meeting so many people that in the end it only made sense to move to London. Dirty Pretty Things had a tour booked starting two days after my moving day and we were gonna go to a few of the gigs. Then the day before I got on a plane they announced it would be their farewell tour, so we bought tickets for every single gig, which meant that I moved to the UK and then spent all of October, November, and half of December on tour… I didn’t start job hunting and thinking about real life until January lol

So yeah. Them. They’re my boys. As coined by the NME in their ‘sad to see them go’ article… “They were well fit and nice!”

I’m ongoingly surprised by how much I managed to trick myself into liking Taylor Swift

Now here are my answers below the cut! Warning: I can be a touch rambly!

1. Who or what got you into F1?

My parents introduced me to F1 in 2004 when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I vividly remember watching pretty much the whole of the 2005 season on the telly and how amazing a lot of the races were back then. 😍 Since then, we’ve been keeping up with watching races, following the news, and visiting Silverstone for Free Practice sessions and fun events like the Classic Weekend and the Lap Of Lights whenever possible.

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

I was drawn to Kimi Räikkönen when I was young because I found him attractive. 😳 This was before I knew anything about F1. 😅 Once I got into the habit of watching the sport regularly, I was happily cheering him on. That McLaren was a BEAST…when it was reliable. 😬

I didn’t know much about Kimi’s story back then. As I grew older though, I did some research on him and came to understand why fans love him so much. He kept a cool head during qualifying and race days (He’s called The Iceman for a reason!) and I just love his personality in general: Quiet, composed, honest, and straightforward. And who could forget the memes that spawned during Kimi’s return to F1?

Even though Kimi’s retired from the sport (seemingly for good 😢), I still love and support him with all my heart, whatever he gets up to. 💙❄️

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

Sebastian Vettel. Oooooh Sebastian Vettel! Where do I even start? 🥰

I have an insane adoration for this man, even more than Kimi admittedly. Seb is just…on another level to me. 😍😍😍

He’s the sweetest, most loveliest man on the planet. He’s kind, generous, talented, and cultured. He’s also an environmentalist, and I fully support his journey to try and make our planet a greener, tidier, happier, and healthier place. 🌎🌱 I’m always fascinated with what he has to say; whether it’s something positive or negative. He has a ridiculous knowledge of everything related to F1 and our environment, and I love him even more for it.

Seb is also retired from F1 and I still miss him dearly, but that doesn’t stop me from loving and supporting this man. I adore him to absolute BITS! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have an interesting dynamic to me. I’ve enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and fall apart and repair themselves back together on track, from when the two were teammates at Red Bull all the way up to today. It’s good that they can laugh about their mishaps and misfortunes afterwards. I don’t know, these two just fascinate me. 💜

Other favourite driver pairings include (in no particular order): Seb and Kimi, Seb and Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr., and FINALLY, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

We’re happy to support any team, but we’re primarily McLaren supporters in this household. 🧡 As for drivers, my mum loves Jenson Button and my dad is a Nigel Mansell and Fernando Alonso supporter. My sister just recently started getting into F1 and she supports Lando Norris. We never have any complaints or disputes over our choices, which is nice. 😊

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

There’s quite a lot of races I’ve enjoyed watching over the years. I don’t like the current races that much; I’m more of a 2000’s & 2010’s grid enjoyer. My favourite race of all time has got to be the 2012 Brazilian GP. It was the most nail-biting race I have ever watched! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! 😱 To me, nothing can top it!

However, the race that stood out to me the most – and the race that firmly cemented my enjoyment for the sport – was the 2005 Japanese Grand Prix. Kimi was a BEAST in that McLaren! From starting dead last on the grid to snatching victory on the final lap. What a show he put on! 🤩👏🏻

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

Spa-Francorchamps will forever be my favourite circuit. It’s home to one of the most iconic battles in history. (“BUT HERE COMES SEBASTIAN VETTEL!!!!”) Plus the foresty backdrop is absolutely stunning. 😍 One of my dream goals is to visit this iconic circuit and watch a race in person one day. 🙏🏻

I also love Silverstone, Hockenheim, Monza, Sepang, Interlagos, and the Nürburgring.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

No, I’ve never been to a race before. Not yet, at least. I would really love to go to one with my family and friends though. 🤩🙏🏻

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

Unfortunately, as of writing, no. We’ve taken many pictures of drivers, but I’ve yet to actually come face-to-face with them and take their autographs and have pictures with them. 🙁 One day, I’m hoping this will all come true. 🤞🏻

My parents briefly talked to Esteban Ocon when he was a reserve driver. (They don’t know which team he was in at the time and I don’t know either. This was around 2015, if that helps. 🤷🏻‍♀️) My mum was extremely lucky to talk to and get an autograph from Jenson Button’s dad John when he was alive. I believe this was around the time before Jenson won the World Championship. They’ve yet to get Jenson’s autograph. Again, one day! 🤞🏻

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

I don’t have many favourite cars, and I’m not a car nerd like my dad is. However, the McLaren MP4/20 is a certified favourite of mine. The black and white West McLaren livery in general looked very smart. I’m happy it lasted a very long time from 1997 to 2005. 😍 I wish they brought those colours back in modern races, like for special occasions or something. 😭

I also love the blue and yellow Mild Seven Renault livery from 2005, followed by McLaren’s delightfully retro Gulf livery from 2021, and Hungry Heidi herself: the Red Bull RB9 from 2013.

11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?

Robert Kubica. This man went from having his horrific accident during the 2007 Canadian GP to winning the race a year later at the same circuit. What a legend! 🤍

12. Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can either be inspirational or hilarious.

Let’s start with my favourite hilarious quote: Kimi’s got hundreds of iconic moments during his time in F1. I actually use his infamous quote “Just leave me alone! I know what I’m doing!” quite often in normal conversations, so…I’ll go with that! 🤣🤣🤣

As for inspirational quotes, hmmm, that’s a lot harder. The one that came to my head first was Daniel Ricciardo’s “Enjoy the butterflies” quote. I also love Sebastian Vettel’s “You can’t always be the best, but you can do your best.” and his retirement speech, among others. If I had to choose one….uhhhhh, let’s go with Daniel! I love them all equally though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Summary:

The story would follow Ike and Soren in small stories through their four years of high school.

Ike and Soren met as children, and have been nearly inseparable since. This is despite the fact that they seem to have nothing in common. Ike is into sports, has plenty of friends, but struggles with schoolwork. Soren is in the chess and debate clubs, he’s a loner, and he’s a straight-A student. Ike is tall, athletic, handsome. Many girls in the school are crushing on him. Soren is gangly and awkward, his face hidden behind his bangs and glasses, and known for his sharp tongue. He is a frequent victim of bullies and mean girls.

It boggles the mind of others, but that has never mattered to Ike and Soren. No matter what others think, they are best friends, Ike and Soren, two halves of a complete set. They understand each other in a way that transcends language.

Except… all of that could come to an end if Ike ever discovers Soren’s secret.

Soren’s feelings for Ike are not purely platonic. For years, he has known that Ike was special to him, but it’s only now, in his adolescence, that he’s starting to learn what that means.

For the sake of their friendship, Soren hopes that his feelings will fade. But in his heart, he knows that he’s not dealing with a simple crush, the way all of Ike’s admirers are always giggling and blushing whenever he shows them any attention. No, Soren is in love, he’s been in love all these years without realizing it, and every day he’s falling even harder.

Perhaps some distance would change things… but Soren cannot bear the thought.

So he still follows Ike wherever he goes, whether it’s cheering him on at his baseball games, or hanging out with Ike and his friends at the skatepark, or staying over at his place to help him study for an exam.

Yet Soren’s silent suffering does not go unnoticed forever.

Soren finds an unexpected ally in Heather, the only out and proud lesbian at their small town high school. She wants to start a gsa, but needs other people to join.

Heather approaches Soren and asks if “your boyfriend and you” want to join. Soren gets defensive, protesting that Ike is NOT his boyfriend, they’re just friends, Ike is totally straight, and Heather is just like “oh honey.” And starts talking to him about her many crush on her straight best friends over the years.

Somehow, Heather convinces Soren to join the gsa. He’s apprehensive at first, and wants to keep it a secret.

However, Soren can’t keep anything secret from Ike without outright lying. They know each other too well. So eventually Soren admits that he’s joined the gsa, afraid that Ike is going to judge him, or ask him if he’s gay, or assume things…

But Ike is just like “what’s that?”

And when Soren explains, Ike is just “oh okay.”

Just straight to the point, absolutely unbothered. He doesn’t ask any follow-up questions at that time, and afterwards, it’s just general stuff like “what did you do today?” Or “how did that event go?”

To the point where Soren almost wants Ike to dig deeper.

Anyway, time passes. Soren meets people in the gsa and makes friends outside of Ike. He learns more about what it means to be gay. And he even gets to commiserate with other people about his unrequited crush.

But things can’t stay the same way forever, and eventually Ike starts showing up to some of the gsa events, wanting to support Soren.

Slowly, over time, Soren starts to let down his guard, and introduces Ike to his friends, and even comes out to Ike.

Then Ike meets Mia, who is aroace, and starts to realize for the first time that there might be a reason he’s never understood why there’s so much fuss about sex. And he starts learning about sexuality, and it fascinates him.

It takes longer for Ike to realize that just because he’s on the ace spectrum, it doesn’t mean he is aromantic. He has romantic feelings for Soren. In fact, he’s had romantic feelings for Soren for a long time, he just mistook his feelings as platonic. And the more Ike sees Soren come out of his shell and showcase this new, confident aspect of his personality, the less Ike can ignore his growing feelings.

And so Ike confides in Mia, who tells Heather, who tells Ike point-blank that Soren is thoroughly in love with him and that he better be damn sure he feels the same way because Soren doesn’t seem like the type to fall out of love.

Cue Ike asking Soren to attend senior prom with him. They skipped prom last year, because they both hate parties, but Heather has convinced Ike that asking Soren to prom is the correct move.

Of course, they both end up hating it and ditch early to hang out at their favorite stargazing spot, cuddled up together in the back of Ike’s pickup truck. They talk long into the night and share lazy kisses back and forth.

(And that’s the end! Maybe it would have a short epilogue of them moving into a shared apartment post-high school. Thanks again for the prompt! I had so much fun with this one~)

And Now, an Ode to Priam Fire Emblem: The Decade or So Long Blorbo

As I type this, the Nintendo 3DS and WiiU eShop have legally shut down their Internet servers. Pokemon can still be transferred via the Poke Transporter & Pokemon Bank, and content that was downloaded before can still be redownloaded, but now it is legally impossible to not only buy games, but to also download their free content that was distributed online. For some games, this might not have been utilized or was just a small bonus that didn’t mean much. For Fire Emblem Awakening, it meant access to new maps & somewhat new characters. 

4 of the free online characters were within Awakening’s main story & acted as “what if” scenarios. What if Emmeryn survived her character defining fall that ended a decade-or-so-long war? What if Yen’fay was the Chon’sin royal sibling that survived instead of Say’ri? What would Gangrel do if he lived after Chrom defeated him? What would Walhart do? What would Aversa do if it turned out that she was brainwashed by a cult, realized this, and decided to fight against this? Some were better executed than others, in my opinion, but some of these characters also had exclusive skills, such as Aversa wielding dark magic outside of a Dark Mage/Sorcerer class or Walhart being immune to armor & beast killing weapons, or were just more manpower for your army.

There was one final Spotpass map, though, that acted as a nice free challenge mode (if you didn’t plan on buying the DLC for Apotheosis, of course) : 50 whole units against 26 of your own. At the epicenter of it is Priam, the character I’d like to honor with this memoir. 

Priam is a character not found in the main story of Awakening, and is a dweller of the Isle of Giants in the Outrealms (aka bonus content land oooooh). He’s the leader of a very large army (again, 50 units) consisting of people from every nation within the continents of Ylisse & Valm. He’s supposedly related to a radiant hero of legend, though it’s never officially confirmed. He likes to train, eat meat, and fight strong opponents to better himself regardless of their origins. Overall a relatively simple character to understand. 

For many players, they tend to forget he exists or do their best to pretend he doesn’t exist in the first place. Either they didn’t play his map, his character traits didn’t stick with others as strongly as others, or the big meat and potatoes hot button issue: his relation to Ike. Ike is the protagonist of the Tellius saga, or the games consisting of both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. He does not have a canonical ending where he marries, and within the games, he doesn’t show romantic interest in any female characters. He does, however, have paired endings with characters such as Ranulf (who goes on a journey) and Soren (who accompanied Ike on his own journey, never to be seen or heard from again). And with sources stating Priam is a direct descendant of Ike, rather than an off-shoot through Mist (Ike’s younger sister) and Boyd, many got upset. “How could Ike have a kid? He’s not interested in women. He likes Soren.” is something I see regularly while scouring through Priam’s tag on Tumblr or through comments on Youtube. And I’m not here to argue against that. I do, however, think I have an idea why Priam was chosen to be Ike’s descendant of all the previous lords: Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Brawl, at the time, was the latest Smash Bros. game when Awakening was in development. Smash Bros. is usually how Nintendo fans branch out from just playing Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, or Kirby and get introduced to series they might not have even heard of, such as Fire Emblem. In fact, it was due to Marth & Roy’s appearance in the previous Smash Bros. game, Melee, that the West got their first taste of Fire Emblem games. However, in Brawl, Roy was removed from the roster and was replaced with Ike. This makes sense, as Path of Radiance was the latest console Fire Emblem game when Brawl was released. (I also wonder if it has to do with the west never receiving Roy’s game, but that’s just speculating on my end). Gotta promote your games somehow. Though from what I understand, the Tellius games did not sell as well as Intelligent Systems had hoped. Additionally, with the following games being remakes of Marth’s original adventures now on the DS, those also did not sell well. Heck, the west never officially got the remake for Mystery of the Emblem. 

This could just be fan speculation ruminating throughout the decades, but it seems to be common belief that due to poor sales, Fire Emblem was almost a goner franchise that probably would’ve remained dormant for decades or even had no games developed for it. As such, Intelligent Systems wanted to broaden the market by appealing to newcomers. Some that may have heard about Fire Emblem through Smash Bros., but never gave it a shot due to the permadeath system that the games were infamous for, or just no real interest beforehand. Awakening exploded in popularity, garnering new fans like crazy. And with Chrom, Lissa, Emmeryn, Lucina, and Owain being descendants of the recognizable Marth (especially as Lucian disguising herself as Marth and even being briefly confused for Marth by Tiki), it would make sense to have a supposed descendant of the recognizable Ike as well. …Although one could speculate that Walhart is a descendant of Alm & Celica, which makes sense given how Rudolf looks… And for more reference’s sake, they threw in a bunch of past Fire Emblem throwbacks in weapons & lore that made writing a worldbuilding-centric fic a fucking nightmare.

So, with all of that, what are my thoughts on Priam being related to Ike? 

…Eh? 

My whole explanation beforehand was me retelling how I got into Awakening in the first place sprinkled in with hearsay I’ve read online, but as I grow older & more bitter at the world, Priam could be related to a shoe for all I care. (Although if Roy DID stick in Brawl, it would be cool to see how his descendant would be, especially if we’re going the route of Eliwood/Ninian having Roy, who then marries Lillina). What I like about Priam is traits somewhat shown in Ike, sure, but it’s also just the missing potential that keeps me coming back to him.

SO, time to get into how I started to like him. I remember when I first played Awakening, I asked a friend if I should pick between Stahl or Lon’qu to marry (as I was aware of the auto-marriage to Chrom mechanic and wanted to avoid that). The friend said Stahl was a better pick, as he was a kind lad that loved to eat & had messy hair like yours truly. Then, when the Spotpass maps were released, I immediately made a new save file so that I could marry Priam. Why? …Because he had a bandana and I liked his English voice acting (for the few grunts & battle quotes that were present). The Awakening Hero armor design is eh, but I liked how his was customized to be, well, radiant. The 3D model was shinier than those of Flavia’s or other playable reclassed Heroes, and I really just liked how he paired a tattered cape with his armor. 

I also remember level grinding for an entire summer just so I could finally take on his map efficiently. Granted, I played Normal/Casual, but when I replayed the map a 3rd time for another save file, my units were barely able to beat him. It was worth it, in my opinion. 

What really made me start up that second save file were his supports with Female Robin. Priam is an unfortunate case of “Avatar-sexual”, meaning he only has supports with Robin & Morgan if he’s his dad (although in the Hot Springs DLC, he does have a nice chat with Yen’fay & tries his damnest to fight Walhart). We only learn small things about him, such as his love for training & how he utilizes breathing techniques that would fit right into Jojo or Demon Slayer. He also gets flustered when someone does something nice for him unexpectedly, such as Female Robin doing his laundry as thanks for training with her. He doesn’t really care about expenses, as he bought a really fucking expensive ring when he proposed to Female Robin and says “I don’t give a damn what you do” when you sell items in his inventory. He’s devoted to the point of letting the world burn before seeing Female Robin get hurt (thankfully not to a yandere-like level). …And you learn he fought a bear when he was 12 if you support with Male Robin. He’s what got me to liking characters that had muscle (yes even though Basilio and Vaike were right there).

Combat wise, he was a good non-armor defensive unit (especially with wielding Ragnell to give him +5 defense), but what I find neat is that he learns weapon breaker skills even in classes he can’t become, like Gryphon Rider having Lancebreaker. He has both Sol and Luna, but not Aether like. This might be so Aether stays exclusive to Chrom, Lucina, and a potential daughter/granddaughter, but I speculated this could be Priam either holding himself back from using Aether’s potential or him still trying to figure it out.

Along with this, if you were a budding mythology/history nerd like I was, you realize he was named after not one, but two! TWO! Important figures in the Trojan War: King Priam and his son, Paris (In Japanese, Priam is named Paris, so yes, go ahead and make the French jokes. His English voice actor already plays the Frenchiest Fry Virion himself). In fact, this was one of the many things that sparked my interest in mythology/history. 

And finally, this was around the time I was starting to get interested in voice acting trivia. This meant I wanted to act as a human IMDB page and go “whoa, did you know such and such shared a voice with so and so?! Isn’t that neat?!” At the time, I didn’t know Jamieson Price also voiced Virion, but I DID know he voiced Iskandar from Fate/Zero and Chad from Bleach. Those were 2 of my favorite characters so I was sold. And then for Japanese, Daisuke Ono voices him. Jotaro Kujo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara!! Of all things! WOW! 

All of this is really fucking cool shit, and it’s such a damn waste that Intelligent Systems doesn’t do anything else with him! 

To fill in my disappointment, I’ve definitely created a version of Priam in my head that’s drastically different from canon. I’ve incorporated elements from what I’ve continued to read in his supports, inspiration coming from moments & traits from other series that I’ve watched/played that I thought would be cool, and overall just positive things to keep me going when I was going through a rough spot. Canonically, he’s probably like what people expect Goku from Dragon Ball Z to be. In my mind, he’s like a battle-hardened tactician brawler that gets very excited about swords (to the point where he takes up blacksmithing to craft his own), loves to speak about life in a philosophical lens, and experiences a quiet yet extremely unsettling quiet anger when someone he cares about gets hurt. I also headcanon he uses his headband to cover scars from his bout with fighting a bear when he was 12. OH! And he gets to have twin girls: Cassandra and Helena. 

…So yeah, completely different from canon. But with only 3 Cipher cards and 1 appearance in Heroes as I type this to go by, I feel like it’s okay to speculate about what could have been. He could have been in Awakening’s main story as an opponent to Walhart during the second arc, or he could have been a recurring superboss in future Fire Emblem games that somehow always ends up in different dimensions. He could have been a hint for an upcoming Fire Emblem game that explored Tellius 1,000 years in the future much like how Awakening explored Archanaea & Valentia 1,000 years after Marth, Alm, and Celica ruled. (And apparently 2,000 years after Seliph ruled Jugdral? Again, consistent worldbuilding in this series is a nightmare if you try to connect all the games). Heck, I thought that was going to be what Fates was when I saw the cutscene of King Sumeragi shielding baby Corrin from arrows. 

Part of the reason why I’m so attached to Priam is spite from this lack of potential, and the fans mostly ignoring him for their own reasons. Like! We could have had so much more with this guy! And that kept me motivated during dark times in my life. I won’t go into specifics, as it’s quite personal & possibly triggering, but I’ll just say I felt very upset, very angry, and very alone at a certain point in my life. But I kept myself going for the unrealistic but still plausible goal of getting to see Priam get his own game. It might sound dumb, but it kept me wanting to move forward in life. And it’s because of that that I’m here today, and I’ve met other Priam fans online that have their own ways of showing that they like him. They have different reasons than me, and that’s awesome! Priam fans, in spite of their small numbers, exist! When I first joined Tumblr, I unofficially joined a “Radiant Waifu Society” where 3 other people were also Priam fans. I don’t talk to them as much as I did back then, but I do see one of the members post art from time to time & another one makes Fire Emblem Heroes content on Youtube now! I’ve also met one of my best online friends through a shared interest in Priam. She introduced me to many new friends I’ve made over the years, and I still talk with a few of them on a daily basis in friend group servers on Discord. I love sharing cursed voice acting trivia with her and the many other friends whenever I get the chance to, especially seeing their initial reactions when I tell them Priam is also voiced by Jelly Jiggler of Bobobo fame. 

All in all, I’d say Priam, in spite of his controversies in fandom spaces, was a great positive in my life that I can’t help but be thankful for. Intelligent Systems probably didn’t expect someone to care for this one-off character so much, but anything’s possible these days.

This show did an incredible job portraying two people who have different levels/intensities of desire for one another and I was *floored* when Ryuji responded to Amane's confession in episode 4 with so much care, thoughtfulness and respect for both Amane's desire and his own boundaries. "Please make it one sided for a while" will live in my head rent free for the foreseeable future.

And Amane and Ryuji's conversation at the beach in the finale was another heartfelt and expertly written moment. I deeply adore how Ryuji basically went "I miss you and want to meet you whenever I feel like it, and if that means being a lover, then so be it. Let's date".

So yeah, I'm in love with this highly articulate, fictional, Japanese teenage boy

Oh wow, I was way too young back then but I find this fascinating - i'm referring to that post about the mwpp fandom in the early 2000s. Can I just ask you: what was people's initial reaction to SWM? And Sirius's family background? I mean, was there discourse around, did people generally like it / hate it? Were people upset about their hcs being ruined? I can't even comprehend interacting with the mwpp canon when it was still changing so much. Really really cool, I would like to know more!

Oooooh these are all GREAT questions! And I'm going to tag @broomsticks and @twentysevensummers here, because I think you're better suited to answer these historical questions than I am.

For my part, I was heavily heavily invested in reading Sirius & Harry fics (like I still am now lmao) but that meant having to read a TON of Sirius/OFC fics to get my Sirius & Harry fix. I was way less picky back then about the fics I read, because I had to be, lmao. There were SO MANY stories about Sirius having had a secret wife and kids when he went to Azkaban, and Harry then got adopted into that blended family after POA. Or, if Sirius was a single man when he adopted Harry in a fic, he usually then fell in love with the pretty, young Healer who took care of Harry post-Dursleys. I know, I know. Gag me.

Anyway, all that to say, the headcanons I ran into regarding Sirius's family usually involved him being very straight and having a secret family lmao. I didn't run into much that covered his parents/siblings. At least, not much that I remember anymore, 20 years later.

I don't remember much of a reaction to SWM, mostly because I noped out of the fandom entirely after OOTP. I read a few fix-its, and then HBP came out and ruined any hope of Sirius being resurrected, so I just.........left, lmao.

I also didn't run into much discourse, but then, social media sites where you can talk about headcanons/fics (like Tumblr and Twitter) weren't around. So basically it was me reading fics on fanfiction.net and then screaming internally about them hahahaha. I'm sure there was discourse on LiveJournal, but I spent my LiveJournal years squarely in Sherlock fandom, so I didn't see any of that.

Wow, it's amazing how much less you want to kill everything when you get a decent nights' sleep...not that it seems to have helped with my posting schedule thought, heh.

Milphelt time! Another thing that I'm surprised took me so long to get to.

“Uh, I guess this one’s pretty…?”

She turned over the price tag and winced. “Maybe not that pretty.”

“How many times do I have to remind you?” A teasing elbow prodded her side. “Don’t worry about a budget! Mr. Kiske said we could get whatever we wanted!”

“I know, I know.” Still, her mouth pursed into a crooked line.

“Millia…”

A hand patted her shoulder. When she looked up, a stuffed bush dog was staring her in the face.

With a very unflattering noise, she recoiled back and started to laugh. “Elphelt! Don’t startle me like that!”

“Aww, it startled you?” A pink-framed face poked out from behind it, grinning with glee. “I was just trying to be silly! But I guess it distracted you at least, huh?” She adjusted the shoulder strap on her purse, letting the toy dangle by her hip. One hand pointed down the hall. “If you’re not feeling anything here, wanna try the next section? They might have something you like better over there!”

Millia offered a half shrug. “Worth a try. Are you sure you didn’t want to put any of the ones in here?”

She let herself be pushed along as Elphelt nudged her in the direction of the next set of displays. The girl’s chunky baby-pink heels clunked against the carpet with every step. “Nope! I’ll do it later! Let’s find something for you first, okay?”

Even if she didn’t really understand, she could still entertain the idea. The two of them were flocked on either side by satin, lace, and sheer chiffon, not even mentioning the absurd amount of ribbons and bows on every surface. Millia didn’t know when the last time was that she’d even gone dress-shopping, which only made looking through the higher-end sections more daunting. Elphelt, at least, was exactly in her element, looking over the bridal gowns with an incomparable look of glee.

“Oooooh, oh oh oh look at that one!” They stopped in front of a fluffy-skirted ensemble with a large bow on the back. “That’d look super cute, wouldn’t it?”

Millia had no strong feelings other than confusion. Still, she pulled it off the rack. “I guess. Want me to try it on?”

“Yes! Oh, yesyesyes let’s go put it on right now!”

If nothing else, Elphelt offered emotional support in abundance. The same went for clothing assistance. One thing she’d started to figure out was that wedding dresses tended to be incredibly complicated to put on. She didn’t have any idea how people were supposed to put them on by themselves, between the zips and the ties and the ribbons, it had to be too much for any one person to handle.

El hung the dress on the changing room’s hook while she undressed from her street clothes. Compared to her partner's abundance of cute, playful accessories, her own winter peacoat looked rather drab in comparison. Millia shed it in a heap along one of the room’s chairs and got to work on the buttons of her blouse.

She realized that Elphelt was staring. “Is something wrong?”

“Oh. Uh,” sheepish, the girl sat down and looked elsewhere. “Sorry. I know we’ve been together a while, I just still get distracted looking at you sometimes. I-I can give you some privacy, lemme know when you’re done!”

“Right. Right!” She immediately scurried over with the dress in her arms. Then it was just a matter of undoing all the zips, stepping inside, trying to slip it on, realizing the zip wasn’t down all the way, undoing the ribbon they had missed…

“Hehe, I guess I’m starting to get why you don’t wear these all that much. Some of these are really hard!”

“I’ll admit, I was never really all that into dresses. Not in a long time, at least…” She turned in the mirror, looking over her shoulder. “They’re not the most practical. If they’re tight, it’s hard to kick.”

Elphelt nodded, fiddling with one of the bows. “Yeah, that one I get. That’s why I like my skirts all floofy! Lets me move around a lot more!”

“Goodness knows I’ve seen plenty of that. I still don’t know if I’ll ever understand how you can fight in heels.”

“It’s all a matter of practice! And good balance! Apparently it’s a good calf workout, I can kick my shoe off all the way across the courtyard!” Her cheeks pinkened a bit. “Which…which I absolutely found out on purpose.”

“Oh?” Millia tilted her head, giving mirror-Elphelt a teasing little look. “As much as I prefer flats, if they’re useful as a weapon, I might have to try them out sometime.”

She could tell that the girl was trying to feign confidence, as it was incredibly cute. “D-definitely! And I think it’d look good on you! So, um, what do you think of the dress you picked out?”

As much as she hoped that she’d immediately be blown away by the sight of herself in the mirror, it was barely a slight breeze. Even when she turned around, the only part that stood out was the large bow on the back. How strange that something so difficult to put on could still feel so bland.

“I don’t know. I’m not sure if I like it,” she replied, hesitant.

Elphelt simply gave her an understanding smile “No worries! We’ve still got months! We can try on as many dresses as we want. Your perfect outfit has gotta be somewhere, we'll just have to find it!”

🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now I kid you not, engaging with and making content for the COD fandom is really helping me a lot, so that's one. (I love this cozy little corner of the fandom.) Another is that I'm kind of in a more chill period of my life. I've been a student for like. 16 years straight, so it's nice to be taking a breather. And third, I don't think my social life has ever been better. It really helps to get out of the house and spend time with people I care about a lot &lt;3

But off the top of my head right now, it's a tie between no little german boy don't go to the weed cave and inshallah they find him. also, I don't count this one as it's not really a reference so much as one video that has become an inextricable part of my personality, but this specific video is the reason why I say "scheiße" instead of "shit" when something startles me, like losing my balance or dropping something etc. I can't explain why it cracks me up so hard, but it makes me laugh every time.

Look. We all have that one, super-indulgent daydreaming scenario that we're more embarrassed to admit we have than most kinks. Mine is a kind-of harem fic with literally as many COD characters as I can cram into it (we're talking 141, vaqueros, warzone operators, ghosts) where MC kind of serves as a Penelope Garcia (from Criminal Minds) figure? In my mind MC only ever talks to them over their comms, and they're fun to talk to, easy to get along with, and very flirty. But none of them have ever actually met MC in person: they don't know what they look like or anything, they've only ever heard MC's voice. Shenanigans ensue. In terms of who I'd trust most to write this, I'd trust any of the authors I follow to write this, but if I must pick, it would be @danibee33. I love you girl &lt;3

14. all time favorite ship? Oooooh difficult one. Beocca/Thyra from TLK are sweet beans and the definition of deserved better, but I would say my close second is Jack/Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. Both couples are just so much fun to write & so different.

15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Uhhhh there's a few lmao. I have a 3rd and final Barty Crouch Jr. fic in the works that I am stalling writing and finishing because I don't quite know how it will end, given the man's circumstances in the fic lol.

16. what are your writing strengths? I would like to say descriptions (imagery wise) and maybe writing character voices/dialogues.

17. what are your writing weaknesses? Fight scenes!!!!

18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? I don't mind reading it but I won't write in another language despite my native language being German.

19. first fandom you wrote in? Disney followed by HP. Both fandoms helped me get through a nearly crippling surgery and I will be forever grateful to both fandoms for helping me find my passion.

20. favorite fic you've written? I have mixed feelings about it, but I really love Temptress of Dunholm for TLK, followed closely by Hollow Hearts for NBC or A Greater Power for the HP fandom.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I meaaaan no spoilers, but In His Father's footsteps will have an angsty but happy ending. I think the angstiest one I've done so far was Runaway Bride (Saw).

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? A release of toxic masculinity (13RW) was a super sweet one to write, and ended quite happily :).

8. do you get hate on fics? Not exactly, but I have been the target of bots (unfortunately).

9. do you write smut? I used to write nothing but smut lmao and about 9/10 of my fics are smutty, but I'm trying to include a bit more plot these days, mainly as I'm not great at writing smut haha.

10. craziest crossover? Uhhh probably Saw x Titanic? It was a bit bizarre haha, but I did do a 13RW x Circus thing which was also super fun to write.
