Last week I opened a poll for people to vote on which Adventure Time character I should make a video essay on.

And the winner is...

Cuber!

You know, the guy that shows up for five seconds in every Graybles episode? It's that guy!

This is fun for me because that's one of the ones I most wanted to do, seconded by Tiffany, who also happened to get second place in the poll.

This will be my first time creating a video essay. I'm really looking forward to it because I just love analysing stuff so much, and Cuber is such an underrated character.

When I'm done I'll post the link to the video here, and I might even post the raw text of it here as well for anyone who'd prefer to read it rather than watch it.

Gibbon

one of my favorite elements of adventure time is just seeing the crew build off really non-significant stuff like Gibbon who only appears in like a vision of the future as a off-hand thing and learning that they're the reason Ice Thing is missing a crystal eye, that they hold a lot of power in the dreary Ooo 1000+ setting... like it feels weirdly collaborative in a way I don't see a lot of writing teams for other shows do where storyboarders get seemingly a lot of voice

annamarie tendler was a guest on the gilmore guys early on because iirc one previous guest who was friends with her told them she was a fan and they invited her on. because most of their guests are comedians or TV writers, they're usually fairly dynamic and confident. tendler wasn't, she was quite shy and awkward and felt off on the show? and they were really nice and feminist about it so at no point during the podcast do they say "john mulaney's [at the time] wife" to introduce her. which would have gone a long way to explain What she was doing there because even she seemed lost.
