Deep as the sea and as wild as the weather We will go just you and me to pick wild strawberries together Or be livin' on our own, in a cabin in a meadow Or meanderin' alone, we can face the world forever or we'll
Hit the bounding main or be on a railroad train Hit the boundless tide or be on a steamboat ride Hit the bounding main or be on a midnight plane Hit the pounding tide or be on a rainbow ride
I don’t live in a cabin in a meadow, but my little town is pastoral enough, with sheep grazing the high grass just down the road, and Canada geese, herons and coots gliding on the pond in the park, and the woods to amble in and forage Elder flowers (in the Spring) or Blackberries (in the late Summer)... And I can’t wait for my girl to be here with me tomorrow, and do all these bucolic things together, a picnic perhaps, or enjoying the garden, where we might pick Strawberries, whilst listening to Gordon Lightfoot...

i keep choosing like the hardest songs possible to try to learn to make midis for vocal synth covers on. why do i keep doing this to myself. like is that reverb doubling back creating noise, vocal doubling, or a harmony. if its a harmony i'll explode on impact
#im basically as done with the growing wings/tsukiru files now#(there is whispering in the bg that i have made the executive decision to ignore in the vocal files)#(and instead just fuck around with the aspiration files in the mix instead LOL BUT im happy with the rest <3)#just gotta finish the tuning for the final covers. so the other day i started a new song#which has some crazy vocalizations in an intensely ontarian hockey rock way. the yodels. the vowel combos.....#every other note is like detuned in different directions.... its gonna be slow going this cover LOL#its so funny so like i use sv's vocal to midi functions pretty extensively#its a godsend to me. im pretty great with timing and im good at telling when somethings wrong but my ear training is. non existent#so getting the ballpark of where notes generally are helps a lot and then i can just fix it manually <3#BUT anyway yeah i use it pretty extensively. usually making multiple conversions at diff settings for reference#and usually i dont use the lyric transcription function but this time i did one to see what it would think of ontario english#dear lord it did NAWT know what to do. wasnt prepared for the vowel situation HKJDSHd#its fun tho. dreamtonics needs to make an ontarian accented vocal tho. for me. little ol me#so i can stop feeling bad when i change a beautiful classically trained 'and' from ax n d to some kinda of like#eh ey n d situation JHSKDLJKDAHJd but its important!!! its important for the song#but in general theres like a bajillion songs i wanna cover anyway. i have a playlist. its getting uncomfortably long#like. nearly 200 long... ruh roh#some are really short simple songs tho i should really practice on those. instead of trying songs with canadian vowel shifting shenanigans#altho in general even when covering a song by americans i do tend to out of habit try changing pronunciations to be closer to#the way people here say it LOL i had to reel myself in from doing too many strange things to the word 'human'#in that human songs cover i did. i wanted to do such strange things to those vowels. its my nature. eh.

Canadian Smash
Tumblr media
It is Summer still, and it seems hardly fair to be back to work, and miss most of the day's sunshine! But the evenings are long still for a little while, thus one can enjoy a sip of a refreshing cocktail, like this gorgeous Canadian Smash (a very Ontarian variation on the classic Whisky Smash, and I might prefer this one!) before the sun goes down! Happy Tuesday!
Ingredients (serves 1):
3 wedges of a juicy lemon
4 large leaves fresh mint
6 ice cubes
60 millilitres/2 fluid ounces (4 tablespoons) Canadian Rye Whisky (like Ontario's Lot 40)
22.5 millilitres/¾ fluid ounce (1 ½ tablespoon) Canadian Maple Syrup (like Ontario's Pefferlaw Creek Farms' Maple Syrup)
4 ice cubes
the tip of a mint sprig
Place lemon wedges in a shaker and muddle them thoroughly with a muddler to extract their juice. Tear in mint leaves and muddle thoroughly once more. Add ice cubes, and top with Rye Whisky and Maple Syrup. Close shaker tightly and shake energetically until well-chilled.
Spoon ice cubes in a rocks glass, and double strain cocktail over the ice. Garnish with mint sprig.
Enjoy Canadian Smash immediately.

76: Status/Non-Status // 1, 2, 3, 4, 500 Years
Tumblr media
1, 2, 3, 4, 500 Years Status/Non-Status 2021, Grizzlar (Bandcamp)
The pride of Guelph and London, Ontario, Status/Non-Status (formerly WHOOP-Szo) is one of Canada’s best live acts, an “I guess they do make ‘em like they used to” sludge/grunge/psych/folk/post/Indigenous band that recalls Built to Spill, Nirvana, and perhaps fellow Ontarians Rheostatics. Their big-shouldered hug of a sound is sized for arenas, despite mostly playing bars, and whenever I see them I walk away feeling like whatever raw things were scrabbling around in me beforehand have been sought out and temporarily stilled.
Not every band with that kind of live reputation gets lucky in the studio, but over the past few years Adam Sturgeon and co. have been on a pretty good streak. This 15-minute, single-sided EP offers three of their best songs to date and feels like a complete statement despite its brevity. Each track is a house that’s bigger on the inside than it looks from the out. I won’t argue that the volcanic death ritual “Genocidio” is longer than the three-minutes-fifty my stopwatch indicates; it’s just that this three-minutes-fifty is another band’s seven-to-ten.
youtube
Like most recent Native art, Sturgeon’s music is often concerned with the ongoing impacts of settler colonialism, not only in Canada but in Mexico (where this EP was recorded) and beyond. On its face, the aquamarine vibe-out “Find a Home” expresses a sentiment as old as the alternative rock hills, but its yearning for place and belonging has more specific resonances in the context of Sturgeon’s status (and legal non-status) as an Anishinaabe. A musician’s love affair with the road as a path to escape and adventure is inevitably complicated when those roads are built and maintained by the same state that committed genocide on his ancestors. But that complexity, anger mingled with love mingled with sorrow mingled with joy, is what living is. And it’s what Status/Non-Status make music from.

Gone North
(Story Post)
Nathan was nervous to be away from his kids. It was the first time since their birth that he had ever gone overnight without them. He trusted Korsgaard to take good care of them, but leaving them at his house was very difficult. It made him question his decision to leave them behind, but he really didn't know yet if he wanted Kent in their lives. The easiest part of the trip was the flight. It was two hours up to Thunder Bay, and while Dax used the time to take a nap, Nathan just stared out the window as the Canadian landscapes went by. He wanted to nap too, but he was nervous, and keeping his eyes closed just made his mind race. When they touched down, he was exhausted.
They grabbed food in the airport before a government van came around to pick them up. The APID rep assigned to assist them, Agent Hanover, had landed the day before to make sure Kent was available. Apparently, he wasn't able to talk to the bear man because he always chased the agents away and then he'd retreat into the bush. Because of this, he wasn't aware that Nathan was visiting but at the very least, they knew he hadn’t attempted to leave the area. It was still some driving to do to get to Kent's new home. They were driven out of the city onto a wooded road deep into nature. Nathan was reminded of the ravine behind his house where Kent used to hide, but of course this northern Ontarian forest was plenty more natural and wild. They were pretty much going off the grid. Dax could tell how nervous Nathan was from the way he couldn't sit properly in his chair. He squirmed and sighed and bounced his leg. Dax didn't like seeing him like this, and he took up Nathan's hand, giving it a little squeeze. “We will get there soon,” Dax assured. “You have to relax.” Nathan shook his head. “I can't… I’m just picturing his stupid face, and it makes me so angry…” “Kent?” Dax asked. “Yeah.” Dax sighed. “I imagine there's things you'd like to say to him. Do you want to practice?” “No,” Nathan said. “I feel like the first thing I'll do is punch him in the face.” Dax chuckled and took a sip of his drink. “No, you won't…” “You think I don't have it in me?” Nathan asked. “Wait until you see him. He should still have the big scar I left him.” “A scar?” Dax frowned. “What'd you do?” “I woke up at his place once, and I freaked out because I didn't know where I was or who he was, and he had those dumbass ‘macho man’ hunting trophies on the walls, so I took down a rack of antlers and slashed him up,” Nathan said. “Last time I saw him, he had a big gash down his whole face.” “Oh, okay… But that's sort of self-defence,” Dax said. “I doubt you'd just choose violence as soon as you see someone in a controlled environment.” Nathan huffed. “I don't know what I'll do… He brings out the worst in me. He's such an asshole.” “Well, I have to take your word for now, but I guess I'll see when we get there,” Dax said. “I will ask you to try not to hit him unprovoked. If he's going to help you, you need to have a good rapport.” “His whole dumb face provokes me,” Nathan sneered. Dax sighed. “Nathan, relax. I know this is uncomfortable for you. You're away from your kids, whom you've never been away from before since the beginning of their life, to go see their father you thought was dead and you've never gotten along with. It's a lot. But it's all going to work out.” “You don't know that.” “I do, because we're going to make sure it does,” Dax said. Nathan hung his head. “I don't even know if I'm ready to do this...” “You are. I have your back.” Nathan sighed and looked back up at Dax. “I'm glad you get to meet him, at least. So, you can understand where I'm coming from.” Dax shrugged and chuckled. “Maybe if all goes well, we’ll all get along and become a big beasty throuple.” Nathan cringed. “Don't even joke about that... Kent’s probably homophobic for all we know...” “He fucked you, a man, pregnant.” “Yeah. When he thought I was a girl!” “Fair point. Bet my cheekbones could turn him though,” Dax joked. Nathan chuckled. “You haven't even met him yet and you're joking about turning him gay for a throuple?” “Well, it's making you laugh,” Dax smiled. “That's all I wanted.” Nathan smirked. “Okay, chill out... Meet him first.” “I will.” Asphalt turned to gravel and gravel then turned to dirt. The driver slowed down. The dirt road was warped from puddles and large rocks so they went slowly onward a few minutes. Finally, they stopped. They could only see trees through the side windows, and the road out the back, but their agent got out first and told them to wait. Dax placed his hand on Nathan's knee. “Are you ready?” “To see a dead man?” Nathan frowned. “No.” At that moment, a shotgun blast rang out in the air and they jumped. “What the fu—" Nathan was cut off as Dax covered his mouth. “Shh, quiet...” Dax whispered. “We have to be cautious.” Nathan bit his hand in annoyance. “Don’t hush me!” The backdoors of the van were thrust open, and Agent Hanover stood there, gun casually in hand waving them out. “Come on. You're good.” “What the hell happened?” Nathan demanded. “Did you shoot someone?!” “Naw, he shot at me,” Hanover said brushing it off. “We're all cool though.” “You let him have a gun?” Dax asked. “Hunting rifle,” the agent explained. “He got licensed. Not much we can do about that.” “So, he has a rifle on him right now?” Dax asked. “Yeah. I asked him not to point it at anyone, though,” Hanover said. “Can you at least put your gun away?” Nathan asked. “Oh, sorry.” Hanover holstered his firearm. “Sometimes I forget it’s out.” “Do I need to explain how terrifying that sounds?” Dax asked. “No, no. I get it.” Nathan got up the courage and stepped outside the van. Around the front, there was a clearing in the bush and a small rustic cottage sat right in the middle. A body of water could be seen down a hill beyond—a pond or a a small lake maybe—and a small creek ran past the house. Right in front of the house, rifle held across his chest and his eyes wide staring at Nathan, was none other than Kent. Kent looked completely stunned. “Nate?” Nathan just stood staring at him, not at all sure how to react. Even though everyone told him Kent was alive, it still felt like he was seeing a ghost. Nathan's body moved on its own, and a moment later, he had closed the gap between them and had his arms wrapped around the bear man's broad torso. He started to tear up and just clung to him like his life depended on it. Kent was shocked but he put his rifle down and put his arms around Nathan too. “...You're actually here.” Nathan sobbed. “You're not dead...” “No… No, I'm not.”

Filled me with joy when I saw that you reblogged those photoshopped pics of guitarists holding slugs, the sixth pic in the series is Alex Lifeson, the guitarist of Rush, which is my favourite rock band
It feels wonderful and magical that a MLP fanartist I like is reblogging my favourite guitar player. Crossover of the century
(I hope this ask is not a weird thing to say)
Its not weird at all, no worries! As a Canadian, and especially as an Ontarian, i'm basically obligated to know about Rush... however I'm also really terrible with recognizing people and didn't even realize that was him LOL Now I'm in the mood to listen to them....

I'm broke, but I'm happy I'm poor, but I'm kind I'm short, but I'm healthy, yeah I'm high, but I'm grounded I'm sane, but I'm overwhelmed I'm lost, but I'm hopeful, baby And what it all comes down to Is that everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine 'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving a high five
Sometimes, you have to remember than even in hard times, in dire spells, you can still feel joy, you can still be hopeful, there will be brighter, better days. And I’m happy Alanis reminded me this today, with Hand in my Pocket!

What Is Your Favourite Genre Of Music, And Why?
It is a 'list of electronic music genres', consisting of genres of electronic music , primarily created with digital musical devices or www.audio-transcoder.com digital music technology A distinction has been made between sound produced utilizing electromechanical means and that produced using digital expertise. In the phrases of P!nk (whose first album was R&B) "No person wants to hear a love song that you don't mean". Not just the genre itself but arguably the love and romance of Contemporary R&B is useless. Replaced by songs coping with trashy cleaning soap opera, Jerry Springer matters. With more vocal gymnastics and a few vague, treacly high-pitched sound within the background. The fusion of modern R&B to hip-hop tends to dilute both these Genres. Curiously enough, Modern R&B pushed soul music off the charts. Jazz is often performed by ensembles (though single artists can play as well), with significance laid on their means to play off one another, and improvise ex tempore. The improvisational fashion of jazz links it to Indian classical music, which also values improvisation over repetition of set melodies. This intrinsic commonality has produced numerous collaborations between jazz and Indian classical artists. Pt. Ravi Shankar, who ceaselessly collaborated with Western musicians, is without doubt one of the most famous Indian musicians within the West. John McLaughlin, a noted jazz guitarist, fashioned fusion ensembles with Western and Indian musicians corresponding to Zakir Hussain and Vikku Vinayakram. Australia has a wealthy custom of Western classical music with professional orchestras in every capital; an active chamber music, small ensemble and choral sector; and four skilled opera corporations. These are complemented by state youth orchestras, and a whole lot of neighborhood based choirs, orchestras and ensembles. Classical music in Australia is derived from our European historical past and traditions. It is generally notated, written for particular devices, and follows outlined constructions. Contemporary classical or ‘new music' does away with and redefines some traditional approaches. Classical music has a number of varieties, a number of the best known of that are early or medieval music, baroque, classical, romantic, contemporary and new music.

In addition to newcomer Whitley, high traditional nation and influential performers who died throughout the decade included Purple Sovine , Whitey Ford , Marty Robbins , Merle Travis , Ernest Tubb , Wynn Stewart and goodreads.com Tex Williams Although not directly associated with country music, Roy Orbison , a favourite of many nation music fans and whose types wound up being influential with many newcomers, died in 1988. Agrarian settlement in eastern and southern Ontario and western Quebec within the early nineteenth century established a good milieu for the survival of many Anglo-Canadian folksongs and broadside ballads from Nice Britain and the US. Regardless of huge industrialization, folks music traditions have continued in lots of areas till in the present day. In the north of Ontario, a big Franco-Ontarian inhabitants saved folks music of French origin alive.

1992Innovation and variety within the standard music industry, 1969-1990. Am. Sociol. Rev. Defends the importance of enthusiastic about mass artwork as a substitute of fashionable art. Though it's not Carroll's primary focus, he often discusses standard music. Since he made his Billboard chart debut in 1964, Hank Williams Jr. has amassed one of the prolific catalogs within the history of the music enterprise, together with eight platinum albums. Hank Jr. was also some of the-awarded artists of his time, winning a trio of Entertainer of the 12 months trophies from the ACM, as well as again-to-back honors from the CMA in 1987 and 1988. Nietzsche aside, philosophy of music has been dominated by the view that the very best music is autonomous and formally complex (John Dewey is nearly alone in defending the vitality of common art during this time period. Sadly, Dewey mentioned little or no about music.). As not too long ago as 1990, philosophy of fashionable music consisted of variations on a single theme. Philosophers defended the twin assumptions that in style music is essentially totally different from serious" or art music, and that the previous is aesthetically inferior to the latter. In consequence, most philosophers who bothered to debate well-liked music targeting figuring out the aesthetic deficiencies inherent in such music. Adolescents usually are not the only young shoppers of widespread music. A examine with a hundred fourth- by sixth-graders revealed that 98% of these kids listened to popular music, seventy two% of them on most days" or each day. 30 Moreover, it has been reported that kids eight to 10 years of age take heed to music an average of 1 hour per day. 25 With many kids and adolescents listening on iPods or different gadgets using headphones, parents could have little information of what their youngsters are listening to. Rhythm and blues (or R&B) was coined as a musical advertising term in the late Forties by Jerry Wexler at Billboard magazine, used to designate upbeat common music carried out by African American artists that mixed jazz and blues. It was initially used to identify the fashion of music that later developed into rock and roll. By the Nineteen Seventies, rhythm and blues was being used as a blanket term to explain soul and funk as nicely. Immediately, the acronym "R&B" is nearly always used as an alternative of "rhythm and blues", and defines the trendy model of the soul and funk influenced African-American pop music that originated with the demise of disco in 1980.
FABBRI, Franco, A Idea of Musical Genres: Two Applications, in: Popular Music Views, pp.fifty two-eighty one, 1982. While house music started as a distinctly American style, the emergence of progressive home within the UK scene within the early Nineteen Nineties turned house music into a world music model. Progressive home grew out of the Nineties UK rave and club scene and saw producers incorporating parts of trance music into the traditional house model. At the moment, some of the world's greatest DJs like Deadmau5, Avicii, https://bernicekiek966.tumblr.com/post/185934742740/essay-on-comparability-between-pop-music-and Zedd, and Tiesto, are part of the progressive home motion.

Frankly I do not care if the music is pop or rock. Simply the tune and the lyrics needs to be my style and smart. I keep on with four rock bands :Disturbed, Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin and Within Temptation, trigger I just feel calm or nice or excited by their music. I am solely speaking about the songs, not the live shows as a result of I reside in India and I've never been to any live shows. One of the essential reasons I don't like pop music much is as a result of they're at all times so cliched. It's either love songs or partying or drugs or sex. I am simply feeling so damned tired of trendy pop music. I'm additionally afraid that rock is developing those type of attitudes and that is why I stick to only four bands. If you happen to guys could recommend a new song for me, publish your touch upon cretoxyrhinamantelli@gmail. com.

his is an account of Michael Tibollo’s role in a business connected to a $40 million fraud in the late 1990s. Today, Tibollo is Ontario’s minister of community safety, responsible for policing and corrections in the Progressive Conservative Government, and overseeing the Ontario Provincial Police. Throughout the 2018 election campaign and the first few months of the Doug Fordgovernment, Tibollo’s role in what happened was almost entirely unknown to the media and most of the voting public.
This story is based on Ontario Court of Appeal documents and records from the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), obtained by QP Briefing, and reveals the following:
-In the late 1990s, Tibollo was the president of a company connected to a Ponzi scheme that saw nearly 800 Ontarians invest about $40 million dollars and lose nearly all of it.
-Tibollo was charged with securities law violations in connection with the scheme and acquitted, but the Securities Commission raised concerns about his actions.
-Tibollo, a lawyer, was informed that the people he was involved with had violated Ontario securities law, the Securities Commission found, and yet he continued his involvement with them and their companies.
-He was described as the “man in Cuba” and would speak with investors in Ontario about the Cuban business ventures they were investing in. In these meetings, he would speak of his close connections with the Cuban government and Castro family, which served to convince people to invest money that they ultimately lost, an Ontario Securities Commission investigation into Tibollo alleged.
-Tibollo was never criminally charged.
-Tibollo has maintained throughout that he was unaware of the details of the investment scheme — he was concerned only with running a legitimate business in Cuba — and today says he had nothing to do with the financial fraud that took place in Ontario.
