A Lil' Timeline:

The theme behind the website seems to be opening a miscellaneous stick/patch packet.

The first thing is prompting the user to "pull to open" as in a tag to swipe off. You can see the collection of patches behind the plastic wrap. Once you finally open the package, all the patches will disperse.

This is where the Internet sleuthing begins, people. 24 unique patches (technically 25, but I'll get into that later) with different meanings. Let's get into it.

1 - SNA Flight Tag

So really obscure, but googling Air California flight tag brought me to this used bookstore site. In any case, the thing to notice is the date it is attributed with, 1968.

2 - Vintage Blotter Art

According to this blog (which is the only place I could find the image), this is a vintage blotter from 1994. Blotter art is an "...art form printed on perforated sheets of absorbent blotting paper infused with liquid LSD."

3 - Blythe Dolls

I believe this doll is a Blythe doll. Image reverse search does not come up with an exact result, but from the details you can make out, the dolls eyes are quite clear. Which looks a lot like Blythe Dolls, a doll brand that came out in 1972. Their gimmick was that the eyes could move left to right.

4 - Witch Halsey

Unsure, but it would seem it's Halsey as a witch. The aesthetics are similar to IICHLIWP (H4).

If the main theme here is the 70s, there’s the movie Season of the Witch that came out in 1973, February 14th. It’s apparently commentary on traditional American suburban lifestyle through the perspective of a housewife who does not like her place in life. She meets a witch and progressively gets into the occult.

5, 18, 19, 23 - Outside of USA

5: It's hard to tell what most of the words are, but the text "Pagado" (Spanish for "paid") is on the piece of paper. . The particular location might be Palenque, a Mexican city. Relevant date: June 25th, 1977.

18: Belleville. Based on a real winter carnival programme. Belleville is a a city in Ontario, Canada. Relevant date: 1971.

23: “For Us.” French. The image search doesn’t result anything. Unable to find when this was made.

Based off of a detective book involving traveling. The font is the exact same as one of the book covers. It was published in 1960s.

Looking through the inspect tab you can see the information is being sent to “Sony Fan Music.” It does take note of which country you are in and your address.

8 , 9 - Round visuals

I think these are visuals to give grasp to the 70s theme. It’s reminiscent of 60’s/70’s clothing/aesthetic.

10 - Michigan license plate.

1971 comes up in the plate. Michigan has come up in HFK (H2), on Bad At Love. I doubt this has anything to do about the “boy back in Michigan” but perhaps traveling back throughout her albums.

11 - Ghost

Jan 27th 2014, interesting date to put since this is the date this is all happening, just a decade after.

I've seen some people say this is meant to be the anniversary for Ghost, the song. Although it came out in 2014, its release date was in July, and it originally came out on sound cloud on February 3rd. So unsure why Jan 27th is there. EDIT: I have been made aware that Jan 27th 2014 was its international release date! I am but a fool.

The text can be in response to the lyric “Where did you go?” and the themes on the song of someone leaving. IDK, this could also be a meta thing. If a theme here is traveling and visiting locations/people, then perhaps one thing you won't find if the ghost?

Additionally, this follows the theme of revisiting her previous albums.

Or, alternatively, Harry Houdini. The date I do not believe has any relevance here but perhaps the idea of magic.

I came about the google search “Houdini’s Last Trick” where his last trick is widely asked about. It would seem to be an inspiration for the name of the website. So potentially Halsey will lean into magic, tricks, and deception.

14 - Calling Cards

Text on card: “Compliments - May I See (C) You (U) Home? If not, please return this card.”

“May I See You Home” seemed to be a common phrase for calling cards. They were handed out to ask people out. Again, the font and images are similar to H4 aesthetic. These were used in the 18th and 19th century.

Oh, I actually no idea.

The closest I could get to finding what this meant is when this font was used for the book Candy by Maxwell Kenton, published in 1958.

Clearly the saying southern belle. A girl born form the south, typically with certain attributes. The saying came from the idea that “... a girl who was expected to grow up into a lady. She was supposed to be fragile and flirtatious while also sexually innocent. She was beautiful but risky to touch, like porcelain.”

I couldn’t find anything that looks the same, but I assume it has to do with Alice and Wonderland. Concerning dates, the book was published in the 1800s, while the arguably most famous iteration (the animated movie) came out in the 50s.

However, this can relate to the potential theme of magic and deception and girl/womanhood. But I’m also inclined to think the rabbit might have nothing to do with Wonderland and might be something else all together.

I just kinda wanted to point out the cool coding stuff they've done. When the patches are still in the plastic bag, they're always randomized in which order they're in (you have to refresh to notice this). They also disperse in a randomized order. I thought maybe the way they disperse could be a trail of sorts, like a map. But it seems totally random. I still find it cool how they've done that, every time in a different location, as if you open the package they come out uniquely for each person.

Oh and about the 25 patch, it seems the first patch in your packet appears twice when you open it. Idk if the number 25 matters or if this was done by accident. But the 25th patch is a duplicate, and never one in particular, just which ever is the first in your shuffle.

I've been watching the first season of the amazing race (bc weed + reality TV go well together) and for the first couple of episodes I was pleasantly surprised at how the contestants at least tried to be respectful of the people they met in other countries but as soon as they went to india (the first country where they seemed to genuinely struggle with the language barrier) their behavior became completely unacceptable lmao. my favorite part of the show is watching people break down in the airport because they can't get a good flight, it's a great look back into what a pain in the ass flying was before online booking

My Trust Fall with the Universe

I am a teacher. I used to shy away from claiming that title. Used to fear being perceived as “less than,” mediocre, or boring. There is no profession more severely underpaid and under-appreciated in our country than the diligent and loving job of educators. And because my profession is so misunderstood, I was afraid of being misunderstood too. Beautifully, however, every single person in this world smiles with light in their eyes when I tell them what I do. I love being a teacher almost as much as I love being alive.

I currently teach humanities, my aspiration is to teach spirituality. I want to hold space for people to learn, to heal, and to grow. I want to teach my students how to be emotionally intelligent. How to access the loving life force within them. How to breathe deeply, how to nourish themselves in the present moment. I want to light the way for others to find their way home. Home to the light, the God/Goddess energy within all of us.

Now, while I went to university to be able to teach subjects like English and History, I knew an American university wasn’t the place to go. I found myself taking random courses here and there: First I took courses in facilitating sacred spaces, courses in herbalism, courses in pranayama, and of course, so so so much yoga. Out of all my studies, yoga was the most nourishing for me. It helped me alter my sense of self, it gave me presence, loving-confidence, and so much liberation.

I knew I wanted to study yoga and teach it. Now I had options, many options. I could do an online yoga training, hard pass! Learning online is tedious and lonely and I knew my soul would not thrive or grow. I could find a local yoga studio and spend every weekend driving to yoga trainings. Personally I didn’t love the idea of booking all of my weekends. So that left a retreat. Going away for a month to a school somewhere in the world where I could rise every day with no other intention in my heart or on my mind other than yoga.

Now there were so many options in this new possibility too. I could go to Costa Rica, could go to Mexico City, could go to Bali. But after long and extended hours of research, I found myself booking a flight to Rishikesh India, a Himalayan Mountain town on the other side of the world.

Yes, I was very, very, daunted in the face of this new dream of mine. But it was six months away, and it gave me something to work for and plan for. I didn’t count down the days, but I spent every week for six months physically preparing my body and my mind for a month of daily yoga practice.

Unsurprisingly, the six months flew by, and before I knew it, my trip to the other side of the world was a single day away. I was terrified, happy, excited, sad, and extremely overwhelmed all at the same time. During this period of my life I discovered that I contain multitudes. I can be extremely happy and extremely sad at the same time. Can feel joyously excited while also being gut-wrenchingly terrified. I learned to hold space for these extremities in my heart, learned to breath through them, learned to let them flow instead of letting them make me rigid.

During this time of my life, I took a trust fall with the universe.

And guess what?

The Universe caught me. It always had, and it always will. But I needed to leap into the unknown to truly feel the LOUD LOVING PASSIONATE support of God and Goddess. They are with me. They are with you. And if you don’t feel or see them, stick with me, and you’ll find your way home to them.

The optimist in me says Spring is indeed at hand. The object we call the sun seems to be making a regular appearance, and we can shed a layer or two of clothing. Bliss at its finest. As we look for closet space to store heavy boots, scarves, and bulky coats, we embark on a biannual rite of passage – decluttering. We all tend to have an excess of each type of clothing, hats, and dare I say shoes. We hang onto our favourite t-shirts, the outdated shirt “just in case”, and who knows what other long forgotten fashion icon lurks on our coat hangers.

Just as Spring (and Fall) presents us with the urge to declutter “our stuff”, it is also an opportunity to take stock and declutter our most precious possession – ourselves. As the seasons of the year change, so too do the seasons of our existence. The various stages and circumstances we go through bring earmarks of joy and celebration, but there comes with it aspects of our lives that have thrown us off track, brought unexpected and unwanted changes. If we do not periodically check in with ourselves, take stock of what we value, the journey we find ourselves on today can be riddled with latent obstacles that resurface, that clutter our path.

Self decluttering requires more than boxes and shelves. I tend to hang onto past events that do nothing for my well-being. Dwelling on events I never thought I would get through, or feelings of desperation that hit me to the core are difficult to wipe away. I ponder what I could have done differently, how I failed to realize I had better choices to make if only I could have had greater presence of mind. As a result, instead of handling the unexpected darkness with greater resolve, I grabbed whatever hat I could find that fit any given day.

When life gives you lemons, hold on, not so fast. Transitioning from difficult times has not always been automatic for me. I lament too much on supposed friends I expected to be supportive, yet I fail to recognize that maybe, just like the hat I have pulled from the closet, I have outgrown certain people.  That in no way infers I put myself on a pedestal, far from it. As we move from place to place, change jobs, develop new relationships, we are not the same now, as we were then. Yet, instead of glancing in the rearview mirror, we become transfixed on a long gaze looking back. Excessive reflection has the danger of reliving past judgement from others, attitudes that did not fully comprehend our life choices, all hanging on hooks begging to be decluttered.

Henry David Thoreau said, “I love to be alone. There is no greater friend than solitude.” As social beings, solitude is not as easily attained or valued. Yet, to confront demons, decisions, and choices, conversations with ourselves are what is most necessary. Our self-worth is not dependent on those who recklessly judge us. Knowing what you truly stand for, and who you stand with, requires us to assess what we truly value, and who we feel values us.  That sense of place and purpose only comes by being true to ourselves as we stand today.
