I need to talk about HOW HARD it was to find the Malayalam words for vulva and labia and clitoris, because they are so soo far from common parlance. A quick Google helped me discover the words for "vulva" and "clitoris". They are bhagam and krsari respectively. Both Sanskrit loanwords.
But I simply COULDN'T find a suitable word for "labia" no matter how many online dictionaries I looked it up in. No issues, the thing to do then is to take either of the common Malayalam words for "lips" and combine that with the word for "vulva" to make up my own word. But the commonly used words for lips are Dravidian, which is idk, doesn't adhere properly with "bhagam", which, like I said is Sanskrit. I need a synonym for the Malayalam words for "lips" that is either another Dravidian word meaning "lips" that might better suit "bhagam" phonetically, OR a Sanskrit loanword (or a Malayalam word having a Sanskrit root). I Googled around and discovered two, "ōshtam" and "vilumbu". Vilumbu is Dravidian ig, but I can't use vilumbu because it sounds too similar to the words denoting "fart" and "outdoor latrine" 😐. It would have to be ōshtam. Idk exactly if ōshtam means "lips" in Sanskrit, or if it does, if it still retains that meaning exactly after entering Malayalam (a ton of Sanskrit words get slightly different meanings after entering other Indian languages as loanwords, sometimes drastically different meanings) .
THEN I looked at what @xoomieeeee wrote in Hindi in that post and yup, she uses that exact word (ōshtam), IN COMBINATION WITH bhagam (vulva). Hehe, clearly either she had the same issue I do and had the same idea, or in Hindi "bhagōshtam" is either a well-known/already-established word. Guess I found my word. ☺️☺️
Instead of the Sanskrit word "ōshtam" meaning "lips" I guess I could also have used a word meaning "edge" ("ōram" - idk if Dravidian or Sanskrit tho, but doesn't matter as it would combine well with bhagam). But then is saying the labia is the "edge" of the vulva accurate? 🤔🤔🤔
So in short we don't have proper words for a whole entire parts of human female anatomy and have to go on an expedition into Sanskrit or Dravidian lexical corpora to MAKE UP A SUITABLE WORD. And where we DO have single, proper noun for things (like yoni for vagina or krsari for clitoris) they aren't well known!!! Ok, "yoni" is well known (thanks women's magazines, also fuck u 😤) But NO ONE who hasn't googled it has ever heard of "bhagam" or "krsari", if they aren't a whole-ass Malayalam professor. I'd be surprised if even a Master's student of Sanskrit or Malayalam literature knew "bhagam" or "krsari". Maybe it's time to call the Malayala Manorama and ask them to get on this severe shortcoming. If they can make up and popularise a native word for "restroom" they can make up better words for female anatomy, OR popularise whatever is above. But fuck women and fuck female anatomy and health I guess, they are NOT IMPORTANT 😤😤😤😤😤
(Reposting as this deserves it's own post).

There are great budget-friendly places to stay in Delhi. The Paharganj area has lots of budget hotels that offer clean, simple rooms at very low prices. This neighbourhood is popular with backpackers.
For a social atmosphere, consider Delhi hostels like Zostel or Madpackers. They have modern facilities and organised events where you can meet fellow travellers.
There are guesthouses in South Delhi that also provide an affordable and cosy homestay experience. These are often family-run so you get a taste of local life. The amenities may be basic but the charm and hospitality make up for it.
Low-Cost Sightseeing
Many excellent monuments like India Gate, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid and Humayun's Tomb have no entry fees. You can visit them yourself or hire an affordable cab from a taxi service in Delhi.

A Comprehensive Guide to the UPSC Prelims Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Prelims Examination is a significant milestone for aspiring civil servants in India. As the initial stage of the prestigious Civil Services Examination, it plays a crucial role in determining which candidates advance to the Main Examination. This article provides an in-depth overview of the UPSC Prelims Examination, including its structure, preparation strategies, and key insights.
Understanding the UPSC Prelims Examination
The UPSC Prelims is designed to assess a candidate's general awareness and aptitude. It consists of two objective-type papers:
General Studies Paper-I (GS-I): This paper tests candidates on a wide range of topics including current affairs, history, geography, economics, and general science. It comprises 100 questions, each carrying 2 marks, making the total score 200 marks. The questions are of varying difficulty levels and require a solid grasp of diverse subjects.
Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper-II: This paper evaluates the candidate’s aptitude and analytical skills. It includes questions on reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and basic numeracy. The paper consists of 80 questions, each worth 2.5 marks, for a total of 200 marks. Importantly, while the CSAT Paper-II is qualifying in nature, candidates must secure at least 33% to be eligible for the Mains Examination.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
Duration: Each paper is of 2 hours duration.
Negative Marking: There is a penalty of 1/3rd of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer in GS-I. In CSAT Paper-II, there is no negative marking.
Language: Questions in both papers are available in English and Hindi, and candidates can choose to answer in either language.
Preparation Strategies
Understand the Syllabus: A thorough understanding of the syllabus is crucial. The UPSC syllabus for GS-I covers a broad range of subjects, while CSAT focuses on analytical and reasoning skills. Familiarize yourself with the detailed syllabus to ensure comprehensive preparation.
Read Standard Books: For GS-I, refer to standard textbooks and materials such as NCERT books for basic concepts, and books like “Indian Polity” by M. Laxmikanth, “Indian Economy” by Ramesh Singh, and “Certificate Physical and Human Geography” by G.C. Leong. For CSAT, practice with books that focus on quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning.
Current Affairs: Stay updated with current events through newspapers, magazines, and reliable online sources. Make it a habit to follow daily news and monthly current affairs compilations to build a strong knowledge base.
Practice Previous Papers: Solving previous years' question papers and taking mock tests is essential to understand the exam pattern and improve time management skills. Regular practice helps in identifying your strengths and weaknesses.
Revise Regularly: Regular revision is key to retaining information. Create a revision schedule to periodically review important topics and concepts.
Focus on CSAT: Although qualifying, CSAT Paper-II is important. Practice solving problems quickly and accurately to ensure you meet the qualifying mark.
Key Insights for Success
Time Management: Effective time management during the exam is crucial. Practice solving questions within the time limit to build speed and accuracy.
Health and Well-being: Maintain a balanced lifestyle with proper diet, exercise, and adequate rest. A healthy body contributes to a sharp mind.
Stay Positive: The UPSC Prelims is a challenging exam, but a positive mindset and persistent effort are key to overcoming obstacles and achieving success.
Conclusion
The UPSC Prelims Examination is a gateway to a career in the Indian civil services, and proper preparation is vital for success. By understanding the exam pattern, following a structured study plan, and maintaining a positive attitude, candidates can enhance their chances of clearing the Prelims and advancing to the Mains Examination. Remember, perseverance and dedication are the cornerstones of achieving your goal of becoming a civil servant.
