Class Favorites: Online Content Creators (But Let's Be Real They're All From TikTok)
This one took me forever to make because if y'all don't recall there was that like 12 hour or some ish "ban" of TikTok and I didn't know how to recommend all these creators from a platform that was essentially set to go away. Now that it's "back," I'm going to share their TikTok accounts and maybe if they have a website and allow you to follow their trails.
Note: These people bring me joy or educate me in some way, however that does not mean I agree with everything they put out. Just saying to be respectful of these humans.

@ Hungry4Munchies (Akkaraj)
LinkTree
Akkaraj is an indie food reviewer out in California. I don't know what caught me, but his catch phrases have kept me locked in and amused. The "GaahhhDayumm's" and "Sauce it down you do too much" lines are a joy to me. He do be giving out too many GD's though, so we gotta watch his judgement sometimes, but I trust that he knows when something tastes good. My favorite food reviewer out right now.
Note: He is not necessarily main BDS friendly, so if that is something that will turn you off, I get it and that's why I mentioned it.

@ Lildummydev (Devin Mcnulty)
LinkTree
I don't watch everything Devin posts, but I loved her "Cutthroat Closet Cleanout" series and enjoy her fashion content in general. I know it seemed like a trend in the "influencer" space for 2024 to purge your entire closet and replace it with a minimal capsule wardrobe, but that seemed so far from her point. The idea was to have a wardrobe that she loves, will last her a long time and has purpose. There is a caveat for sentimental pieces and highly specific occasion items, but you get the point. Although I don't plan a clean-out any time soon, the way she went about it was something that I hope I'll remember if I ever want to do one in the future. ________________________________________________________________
@ Wisdm8 (Wisdom Kaye)
Speaking of fashion, if this man is not on your radar, even casually, that needs to change. Wisdom is someone who puts and styles outfits together. Of course he has style himself and knows how to put on a piece of clothing, but his real talent lies in his creativity and ability to bring ideas to life. I believe he is special. Now he does create hella expensive outfits that are wildly unobtainable, however and this might just be me, I'm not pressed about how much the clothes cost. Like I said I'm more into the creativity of it all. He's creating outfits based on fonts and whole countries, so I'm less concerned about the times people ask him to show off. Again TALENT!________________________________________________________________
@ Kuinitanga (Te Kuini)
Every time she graces my For You Page, I am met with instant joy. She frequently does a Mãori dance to the song 35 by Ka Hao. (I apologize for not knowing the name of the dace itself.) A lot of what I will share today are creators that bring me joy and I have never not felt joy with her. Doesn't matter how many of her videos come across my feed, I will take the sunshine. ________________________________________________________________
@ LaurDIY Vlogs (Lauren Riihimaki)
LaurDIY.com
This is one of the only Youtubers I got on the list. I specifically watched all of Lauren's wedding vlogs and think she did an absolutely amazing job. The color pallet was so fun and pretty and although it cost more money than I would have ever spent on lights, the tent lights (don't know what they're actually called) made the whole thing shine and look more gorgeous. Anyway if you're into wedding content, her stuff will fill that cup for you. ________________________________________________________________
@ Hasanabi (Hasan Piker)
He's on everything, so going to his Twitch will lead you to everything else.
I'm not gonna spend my time justifying him or my consumption of his content, y'all were there, you saw what was up. Also Free Palestine. Like always, I mostly just caught the "clip" channels on YouTube and some of his podcast "Fear &" thrown into the mix too. PS: If you are not aware of Hasan, he is a political streamer on Twitch with socialist views. He is not a gamer lol, but there is much fun to be had on his stream as well.
__________________________________________________________________
@ JustSadeee (Sadé Elizabeth)
All her links
Sadé is someone who is rather great at questioning our thoughts about community and the ways we show up for said community. She is social worker and community worker in California and is truly out there doing the work and leading by example. Do you need to have a heart to heart about masking or want to know why everyone deserves help, even the one's who are are seemingly antithetical to the growth we want for the world, she can give that to you. A wealth of resources and knowledge, but also someone that I wouldn't mind just hanging out with. Sadé gives me real and honest and human like the rest of us. Read her work., watch her videos and be like her and get out in your community.

@ KeeganTindall
Linktree
Dark humor isn't for everyone, but I've gotten really into his brand of particular brand of dark humor. My favorite is his skits with The Evil Gnome. I will share the Evil Gnome and his gnome bacon shenanigans with all who will take the time to watch. It's just silly and weird and I'm totally here for it. That being said you have to watch Keegan's original sketch as well as Mitch Fern's animated version, because both are fantastic and the animation does the original so much justice. Keegan is also a stand-up comedian and a film maker, so if gnomes aren't your thing, there is more to check out.
________________________________________________________________
@ Medohalimy (Medoh Halimy)
Medoh is a young Palestinian man who simply wanted to make things grow while death and destruction was all around him. Outside of the tent in Gaza where he was living, he started a garden that he hoped to keep planting in until the genocide against the Palestinians was over. Unfortunately he lost his life before seeing the end of said genocide or even the "ceasefire" that was recently announced. He was a light in the darkness and I highly encourage those who haven't experienced him yet to go watch his videos and keep his memory alive.
.
.
I'm sure I missed someone but hopefully you found at least one person who you though was at least worth clicking on the link for.
Stay tuned for more Akward Class Favorites 2024!

DC x DP fanfic Idea: Gotham Gossip
Meta-human rights are a touchy topic in Gotham. While the city is known for Batman's view on them, it's also known for Bruce Wayne's viewpoint.
The Dark Knight did not welcome Metas, while the Light Knight worked tirelessly to employ charities and programs to support Metas. Both men- if Batman was a man- influenced Gotham so intensely that their viewpoints became the face of the public.
Even people outside of Gothman learned what "Are you a Dark pawn or a Light pawn?" meant when it was spoken about during national debates.
Really, it was no surprise that Batman and Wayne got caught up in a rather explosive public argument over the subject. Or rather, Wayne yelled at Batman during a hostage situation when his party boat got taken by a group of masked men.
Thankfully, Batman was able to save everyone on board, and although he didn't stick around to argue with Wayne, it was noted that Batman seemed intrigued by a few of Wayne's passionate rants. A few reporters were excited to point out there may be a chance of growth within the vigilante, but it was overshadowed by gossip rags that used this incident to make up a wild rumor of Wayne being a bitter ex with Batman.
This rumor runs for months, with various people posting online proof of a relationship. It sparks debate and anger, with other people responding by fact-checking and countering the "proof." Eventually, the argument moves away from Meta-human rights and falls into celebrity gossip, which has Wayne steaming.
People ignore his passionate activism to better the lives of Metas, only watching his speeches, marches, protests, and donations to various charities to gain new proof of his nonexistent romance that may or may have been in his early twenties when he mysteriously vanished to see the world.
That's when the video comes out.
A young teenager wrote a song parody of what was happening. A soft acoustic guitar accompanied his short words, accusing the masses of caring more about a wealthy man's pants being on or not than the lives of his people.
This young teenager is Danny Fenton, a known meta from a small town in Illinois. This quickly turned into people attacking the boy, who released another song using the hateful comments as new lyrics.
Wayne reposts one of his sons, claiming it a masterpiece, which is when one fan notices the similarities between the two. She makes a post talking about how Wayne and Fenton could be father and son as a joke, expecting people to take it seriously.
Overnight, the internet finds out that Fenton was, in fact, adopted into his current family after being surrendered at a fire station anonymously. More and more people started to notice the similar features between the rich man and the small-town singer until a video of Fenton using his powers was leaked.
Fenton's power is invisibility. This resembles another well-known Gotham dweller who can appear and disappear through the city's shadows. It's not long before Fenton is being called the love child of Batman and Wayne.
It leads to so much media attention and harassment aimed towards Fenton that Wayne steps in. He offers to take a paternity test to finally put the rumors to rest and let the young boy vanish from the limelight (should he stop writing songs).
The only problem?
The test is positive. Wayne is Fenton's biological son. The whole nation loses their minds when it's leaked by a very regrettable intern at the clinic where the test was done. (To be fair, the intern's email was hacked, so when she scanned the papers for herself, they were able to steal them)
Worse, Joker thinks it would be hilarious to kidnap Wayne's newly discovered son and, on live TV, give him another paternity test against Batman. The clown is laughing hysterically while his men prepare the results, only to become more gleeful when it's a match again.
Fenton is the son of both the Dark Knight and the Light Knight. It matters little that Batman's DNA is slightly messed up, as various people already suspected him of not being human.
This just proves Fenton is not a meta-human but rather half-human and whatever the hell Batman is. Joker is having a ball reading out the results, proclaiming he would help Fenton meet his biological grandparents with his one guarantee.
His words are cut off when Fetnon- unknown to the viewing public- escapes his bonds and swings an axe from the emergency fire station inside the aged wearhouse at Joker's neck. The clown collapses to the ground dead, the boy bathed in his blood, and the half-finished joke is cut off by the sound of choking blood etching across every screen in Gotham.
The remaining goons and Fenton stare at each other in stun silence while one is brave enough to rasp. "But Batman doesn't kill."
"Do I look like my absent father to you? Besides, Joker venom is a war crime. I'm within my rights, and if I'm not, I would have killed him again anyway."
Fenton quickly outshines his fathers in the public's eye because no matter where one stood on the Meta Rights, everyone stood on the "Kill the Joker" debate.

There is an opposite to the rage-bait influencer when it comes to certain media. If you feel absolutely out of your mind because every influencer is violently defending a certain IP that you believe to be very flawed (or even harmful) - the answer is very rarely that you are imagining things. Influencers or other kinds of media creators who have tied their income to someone else's IP will often find themselves backed into a corner and feel they have to defend it for fear that they might lose it. You'll see this with D&D, with Dragon Age, Marvel, truly so many things. If you make entertainment media of any kind, for your own mental health I beg you to diversify your content early and often. Do not become dependent on someone else's one media property to find success. It will be a nightmare to maintain and also it makes you act pretty cringe. ((I'm not talking out of my ass here, I was stuck in D&Dfluencing for a while and I almost got truly trapped in it. There are other paths. You can be many things instead of one. Virality is fun but a sustainable audience is much, much healthier))

Is it just me or the easiest way to grow followers in this fandom is to actively engage in drama?

I think something that's often fundamentally misunderstood is teens and young adults appearing to always be on their phones.
It's not necessarily laziness or whatever other negative trait it has been connected to. For many people it's a safe place. The one safe place they have. It's where you go to seek refuge from your natural environment. Especially for neurodivergents, queers, victims of abuse and bullying, and people with disabilities.
You make friends and build your own community, you make memories, you share art, you share life experiences with like-minded people that may be in similar situations and you feel understood. You feel accepted and not judged. You feel loved.
Real life is rough and can be painful but our smartphones offer a different door for us. A door that leads to fandom, to music, to art, to passion and refuge.
So yes of course you choose to spend a majority of your time on your smartphone. Of course you would choose to feel safe and loved. Of course.
It's dry of judgement, it's filled with the warmth of a community that accepts you as you are, it fills your tummy with joy, with thrill, with excitement and love and it provides a safe haven like a roof over your head.
Of course this is where you want to be.
It's home.

"is gooseworx upset about digital circus becoming a cocomelon ass thing id be so angry lol" I cannot express to you how much they have achieved the DREAM for an online indie animator. they got millions of views with A PILOT ALONE! the original characters are already being cosplayed and the models are being thrown into random ass meme videos as if its a massively famous IP! all that with an indie 3D studio! AND the cg actually looks incredible!!! think they're gonna be okay if some content farms use their models for some brainrot finger family video.

Its very funny to me that this website loves to pat itself on the back about being the only site without an Algorithm and then no one fuckin reblogs stuff. Do y'all understand that YOU are supposed to be the algorithm? If no one can get any traction they're just gonna leave the site and you're gonna have a site with no content lol.
I'm just sayin the like/reblog ratio that I've been seeing is fucking bleak. They should honestly just remove the Like function bc its not doing anyone any favors.

Some important stuff in regards to the harassment of developers came from Bungie today. They won a lawsuit against a guy who repeatedly harassed a community manager and his family (not fully confirmed in the official document, but people are fairly certain this is about A_dmg and his family). This is a twitter thread from the lawyer who went into some details about the situation. The court document is also available to read (featuring some of the horrific harassment tactics that were motivated by racism and also used racism as part of the harassment so be advised if you want to read).
This isn't just a win for the individual community manager and Bungie, but also has potential to set a bigger precedent in the future. It's basically the first time this has been done to this extent and some ruling in this case made it clear that companies can pursue this sort of legal action in the future if their employees are harassed and threatened. This is HUGE because the protection of employees in the gaming industry has been abysmal otherwise. This case will allow for the company to file a lawsuit on behalf of their employees in cases of harassment.
Before I add some of the more heinous stuff about this situation below, I want to say that the majority of reactions to this are positive. People are happy that this happened as it did and a lot of people are excited about potential big influence this will have in the future to combatting harassment of this type in the gaming industry.
Extra details and thoughts below (racism tw):
This started because the community manager highlighted a black content creator, Uhmayyze, who is himself a victim of harassment more often than not (usually of racist nature). He is most often harassed because he is unapologetically positive for which people have continuously sent him awful shit and comments. Because he enjoys the game and isn't jumping on the hate train. Just recently he commended Bungie for a ban wave and had hundreds of people hound him on twitter for his comment, including Gladd who started it by specifically replying to Uhmayyze and putting him on blast (warning for a lot of gross comments, including photoshopped screenshots of fake discord texts to make Uhmayyze look bigoted, nsfw images, r slur, suicide baiting and so on). This is important because the incident of real life harassment was fuelled over a community manager highlighting a content creator that is himself being harassed and despised online for the crime of... being positive. And you know, for being black. This situation isn't an isolated incident. The community, including other content creators, are absolutely horrible towards this one person that they feel, I guess, does not follow the content creator NPC questline of hating Bungie and Destiny.
So of course, at some point, someone from that crowd will feel confident and justified taking things further. How dare Bungie promote this person they hate. How dare they focus on a positive creator. They're clearly biased and don't want to listen to criticism, only to "toxic positivity" streamer. How dare a community manager highlight this creator. It's a personal slight to them, and "proof" that Bungie is bad and evil and "ignoring criticism." There's someone out there (and probably not the only one) that hates this creator and the game so much they were willing to harass and threaten a community manager and his family in real life.
The community manager was first harassed by phone with text messages and voice mails featuring racist bile, including apparently a voice mail telling him to "convince Bungie to create options in its game in which only persons of color would be killed." This is the worst part for me and super concerning in general, as well as showing the dedication of this person to racism, motivated by his hatred of a black creator (which also, by proxy, technically makes the streamer being harassed as well). Absolutely ghoulish behaviour.
This escalated to also harassing the CM's wife and resulted in doxing them; the harasser somehow found their address. Most of the reports on this will say that the asshole "sent them pizza" which doesn't truly capture how horrific the incident was. First, it's a random guy who has your address which is concerning enough given that he harasses you by phone already. Apparently the pizza was made to be "inedible" and the delivery was instructed to bang loudly on the door upon arrival to maximise discomfort. The order was also deliberately made to be paid on delivery to create as much pain for the victims as possible. The harasser also kept track of the delivery and then called the family again when it was done to tell them to "enjoy the pizza." The family immediately contacted Bungie who contacted the police and provided the family with protection. There's no telling how this would've escalated had they not been in the position to call Bungie and had Bungie not reacted to them asking for help. It's absolutely crucial here that Bungie is the type of a company willing to immediately assist in this situation.
Immediately following that, Bungie organised a long and expensive manhunt to identify the harasser and bring them court. That's where most of the expenses went; finding the culprit and protecting the employee and his family. This is the money Bungie earned back by this court decision because they could prove that the expenses were caused by a person harassing and threatening their employee.
This is a big win overall for the whole industry. It's Bungie setting a precedent on how a company should protect its employees. No matter what people think about Bungie or big corporations or whatever, this is how you can use a lot of money and power to make sure that your workers have rights to decency and safety. That's huge for the rights of workers and worker protections. I hope it becomes a standard and that any future harassment is prevented altogether or at least punished accordingly.
Naturally, the commentary on the news from a big part of the community is super positive. Unfortunately, there's also a part of the community that has a lot of really awful shit to say about this. The comments on twitter are littered with people who are using THIS specific moment to yell about Bungie being a greedy corporation, how the money they won should be used to "fix the servers" and "make more pvp maps" or how Bungie will greedily put this money "into Eververse" or "into Marathon." There's comments about how time was uselessly spent protecting an employee who should expect harassment anyway, instead of working on "fixing the game."
This is what I mean when I talk about how impossible it is in the current situation to have a meaningful discussion about any sort of criticism or feedback. There's thousands of comments from people who think that this specific instance shows how Bungie is greedy. This is what I mean when I say that none of these people actually understand what they're talking about. You can't make proper criticism when you can't separate game development with a company's legal effort to stop an escalating harassment campaign of an employee. The majority of gamers are simply not fit to offer any criticism or feedback. The idea that we all have something useful to say and that employees at Bungie are obliged to give us their time of the day is simply incorrect.
I genuinely 100% stand by the claim that the recent barrage of content creators promoting the idea that Bungie is "the greediest company in the world that's scamming players and increasing costs out of greed" as well as the idea that Bungie is "abandoning Destiny for Marathon, isn't working on the game anymore and is deliberately ruining it" is the reason for these comments existing. If a big streamer said that Bungie is getting too much money but also not doing anything "good" with it, then any money that Bungie receives (including compensation for expenses they took to protect an employee from active harm) is a result of greed. The nuance of any situation is lost; when you only learn the mantra of "company has money therefore company bad" you WILL end up causing harm for people and you will most definitely not be an advocate of workers rights. That's where we're at right now.
The dehumanisation of people who work at Bungie (and the harassment itself) is a consequence of this crap and other similar crap that's been thrown into the ether for the past year, disguised as "we're just offering feedback." People heard that Bungie is a "microtransaction hell" and that Bungie is only investing in Eververse and Marathon and they feel like this story reflects that; they feel like an employee being harassed is not deserving of proper condemnation and that this isn't important enough and that Bungie is a greedy corpo anyway so who cares about that. They do not understand how companies work, how games are made, the state of the industry as a whole (or the world as a whole), the treatment of employees or workers' rights, and you cannot meaningfully critique a company's business practices without understanding that. And they don't because they think that legal expenses used to protect victims, finding a culprit and bringing their ass to court is money that is being used for game development and that Bungie receiving this money should result in... new pvp maps or "fixed servers."
And there's even seemingly good commentary where people recognise how this is good, but they initiate the comment with "As much as I hate Bungie and Destiny and I think they're awful and greedy and destroying gaming as a whole..." : that's not the time and place. You don't have to excuse your support of a big win for potential new employee protection policies just because those policies are done by a company. Of course it is. Companies are the only ones capable of pursuing this sort of legal action. It's one good way a big company can put their power and money into a good place to actually help people and bring forth positive change. And like, you don't have to tell us how much you despise Bungie before you're "allowed" to admit that this is good news. Sometimes companies do good stuff. It's literally not that complicated.
I hope that this situation will help other employees demand the same protection, that other companies will follow suit and that this will also make potential other harassers rethink whether or not they will engage in this or similar type of behaviour. In the meantime, know that the community is largely positive about this, but that there are still absolutely detestable human beings who should feel ashamed of their reaction to this. They shouldn't feel welcome here. And there's still people doing this to the devs and I hope Bungie takes their asses to court too.
