Tumblr media
LEE HEESEUNG
“take as much time as you want, love”
earlier that day, you were scouring your closet for a decent dress. flipping through the same five for the past hour.
your boyfriend, grumbling about how you should get back to bed, watched as you pick up the same clothes. his eyes never leaving your figure, staring up at you through the mirror you were using to look at the picks.
heeseung slowly got up and hugged you from behind, burying his head on your neck. kissing your shoulder blades up to the back of your ear.
“do you need a new dress, love?”
after very few talking from heeseung and much more complaints from you, he somehow convinced you to get ready.
and that is how you’ve ended up in one of the famous streets in your city. lined up with the prettiest boutiques and malls.
heeseung wrapped his hands around yours and walked to a favorite store of yours. remembering how you’ve ever mentioned how badly you wanted to go back and buy something from it, months ago.
walking in, your small pout turned into the biggest, heart-pounding grin he’s ever seen. he bit his lip containing his own smile and dug out his wallet.
“spend it all on anything you want, baby”
PARK JONGSEONG
as a musician, looking at instruments is like strolling through heaven. admiring all the small intricate details engraved.
jay loved his guitars like it was his own child, he understands what it’s like to spend thousand and even more on just a single guitar. not that it would do anything to his bank.
you’ve never really asked jay for anything for as long as you’ve been dating. rather using your own money to buy whatever you want than letting your boyfriend buy it for you.
it wasn’t like jay didn’t want you to buy things using his card, he actually offers it most times than not. it was you who never lets him buy anything for you.
“use my card to buy the groceries, babe”
you refused to take his card whenever you could. because of this, jay has learned to pay without you knowing. usually when your back is turned or when you excuse yourself to go to the bathroom.
right now, your boyfriend is tagging along with you as you browse through the island of pianos; ranging from yamaha to bluthner.
you stopped abruptly as your eyes fell on a piano that had you immediately captivated, from the design of the lid to the shape of the pedals, you thought it was the most beautiful piano you’ve ever seen.
when you were admiring the piano, trying out the keys and sitting on the soft cushion of the chair. you failed to realize your boyfriend had silently called the seller and slid his card. smiling down at your frowning figure.
“it’ll arrive by tomorrow morning, love”
SIM JAEYUN
“but you look so good in these, babe”
opening your apartment door with a click, the lights turned on to greet you with the copious amounts of packages laid on your living room.
the packages were of different sizes and stacked side by side. what’s worse is that you can’t remember buying all of the things you did, having to open up each package to know what and when you bought them.
you called up your boyfriend, who had brought in all of your packages earlier in the day when he paid a visit to your unit to pick up a small bag you forgot to bring.
“i seriously need to go on a ban”
“no you don’t baby, besides, you use my card when you buy anything” jake says, laying his head atop yours as he turned on a movie an hour ago to stop your fussing.
“that’s not the point, jake. i need to stop buying random things online. i can’t keep flooding my bedroom” you sigh.
“then just put the things you don’t like anymore in my apartment, you’ll have more space that way” jake smiles down at you, kissing your temples.
that was one week ago. somehow, he had convinced you to ‘accompany’ him on a late night rendezvous to prada. it was all fine at first when he was just looking at the suits. but now, he’s trying to convince you to buy two pairs of their new summer series glasses.
“i can buy this next time, babe” you finally say, sighing, after letting him talk about all the new luxury pieces of the summer set, desperately trying to talk his way into letting him buy you one.
“oh” he trails off, a sheepish grin creeping up on his face “about that, i’ve already paid”
PARK SUNGHOON
as a person who always loved the mountains, you find yourself spending weekends driving up one usually catching the sunset. this was already a routine even before you met sunghoon.
and now, you still kept up that routine whenever you weren’t too busy, your boyfriend always opting to tag along despite his complaints about being too tired. he wouldn’t actually pass up an opportunity to be with you.
you always loved traveling, within the city and during long holidays, out. liking the feeling of driving past the roads and seeing the scenery once the mountains come into view.
when sunghoon found out about this interest of yours, he started searching up for places with the most beautiful mountain sceneries. over the past years, he’s taken you to numerous countrysides and mountaintops inside and outside of the country.
even when you say it was fine if you were to only travel within the country, he loves seeing the way your eyes widen adorably during a gorgeous sunset that would rarely happen in-country. that’s why, the moment he tracks down a specific date that you both were going to be free for at least three days, sunghoon would immediately book a ticket to whatever country he’s been searching up.
on a random afternoon, sunghoon knocks on your bedroom door, walking in your apartment. as you open the door, there he stood with a big suitcase and that sweet smile of his.
“better pack up now, baby. we’re leaving in a few hours”
KIM SUNOO
sunoo knows you more than you know yourself, he’s quick to learn your body language and certain expressions you make.
it’s really hard to lie to him when he knows how to poke at you the right way to make you open up about your worries.
sometimes he just lets you have it, he knows you would at one point tell him about the things you’re going through. he trusts you on that.
but at times, he knows when you need a bit more of a cheer up. sunoo loves spending his money on you, buying you clothes, makeup, accessories. one of the things he realizes is that you love wearing jewelry. finishing up an outfit by adding a necklace or bracelets along your arm. that conveniently also accentuates your features.
he spends alot of time with you picking out sets for outfits you were going to wear for upcoming events. jewelry, he realizes is one of the things that can easily cheer you up, besides himself, of course.
so as the sweet boyfriend he is, sunoo dragged you to the jewelry store despite your sulks. and the moment your eyes laid on the glittering pearls, all of your problems seem to dissipate. just like how your boyfriend had expected.
with a giggle, sunoo starts asking the seller to bring out the full set for you to try on. patting you on the head as you continue to stare at the long rows of necklaces.
“buy whatever you want, okay? after this we can cuddle for as long as you need”
YANG JUNGWON
he would remember everything you’ve ever said to him. you like sweets? he remembers. you like flowery perfume? he remembers. you like that one specific lipstick brand that’s best bought in singapore? he remembers.
it’s not odd to get home to a bunch off boxes filled with gifts and food and random things whenever jungwon’s just went home from a trip anywhere.
anything you’ve said even before you two were dating seems to be engraved in his head like muscle memory. he can be strolling through a street market in japan and a small store would catch his eye, the next moment you would find his hands filled with keychains of a cartoon character you said you liked years ago.
his job requires him to fly countries often and it used to be a problem for you both as it means you can’t really meet him as much. but after years, both you and jungwon still communicate alot. him usually asking to facetime you at random hours of the day or night and sending you pictures of what he was doing.
both of you readjusted quite well to this arrangement and thankfully his work doesn’t demand a long period of time during those trips.
“babe there’s no way i can finish all of this by myself” you laugh seeing all of the things he bought you.
“then we can finish them together” he says, dimples peeking out through the smile “that way i can come by more often”
NISHIMURA RIKI
as days start to get more busy, you and your boyfriend find yourselves going on a short getaway to the outskirts of the city.
he showed up at your apartment one night and pulled you out of it with no explanation. you weren’t going to question him though, letting him take you wherever.
you both ended up on a train station, waiting for the last train to arrive. about an hour later, you landed on a small, but really nice accommodation.
the moment you stepped in the room, riki launched himself on the bed sighing in content.
“i want to live here forever” he mumbles out against one of the pillows.
“we both still have school tomorrow” you sat on the bed beside him, opening up your phone to continue the essay you were working on. only for it to be tackled down a second later, your boyfriend pulling you to lay down beside him.
silence filled the room, only yours and your boyfriend’s soft breathing. riki mumbled something against your hair. you hummed in question.
“let’s get room service” he says. you knew it was going to happen, it always happened. but here you are, sat on the hotel chair with too much food both of you know you can’t finish. he had a habit of buying you whatever he thought you’d like and it wasn’t like he’s wrong. the bowls of food on the table are all your favorites and you don’t even know where to start.
he really doesn’t spend much on things, but he loves going on little getaways with you every once in a while. sleeping on the comfiest beds (besides his or yours) and eating room service. something about it just brings a peaceful kind of silence for him.

CW: Yandere Themes, Slight Spoilers for Penacony's Story Quest
I keep thinking about this one dialogue option somewhere in the Penacony Quest, where if you ask Aventurine to give you more money, he immediately sends you more, which led me to think about how Yandere!Aventurine would most definitely love to spend as much money on you as he can as a way of convincing you to stay with him, which led to this little drabble. Enjoy!
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
Aventurine loves to take you shopping.
Whether it's the gilded streets of Oti Mall or the luxury departments of Pier Point, as long as the price tags are exorbitant and the clothes are high quality, Aventurine loves to take you on shopping sprees. Together, the two of you peruse store after store, boutique after boutique, shop after shop. Try and ask the gambler why and he’ll only flash you a casual smirk, drawing you closer to him and interlacing one of his hands with yours. “Do I need a reason why, love?” He questions, pulling you towards him gently and guiding you to the elevator of his penthouse.
He can still recall the look in your eyes when he first invited you out to dinner in Pier Point. Aventurine had planned the date perfectly by getting a reservation to some state-of-the-art interactive dining experience that would surely impress you. However, once the two of you had been seated at your table, he saw you looking at your menu, eyes full of fear at the long trains of zeros preceding every item. It was a sight he’d never forget. Instantly, he told you he would pay for it all, and despite your best protests, nothing could stop him from giving the server his card
Tonight you and him are back in Pier Point, revisiting some of your favorite shops. Or rather, the shops that garnered the most wide-eyed reactions from you after entering them for the first time. You were never forthright about the shops and brands you liked, as if you didn’t want to return and buy more from them. No matter. Aventurine is always careful to gauge your reactions, a smile falling on his lips every time he sees that starstruck innocence in your gaze.
Your pure soul is so fragile. He could shatter it with a single breath. A flick of a finger. A silent stare. He knows firsthand how quickly that golden glow can fade away. So can’t he just have this? Him and you attached at the hip, the perfect image of lovers in every passing stranger’s eyes; completely in sync, moving to rhythms and melodies only he and you can hear.
He’s well aware that his grasp on you in this dance may be too tight and controlling as he forces you along with him in this spiritual tango, but he has good intentions. He knows it. You know it. It’s why you let him care for you, let him pick out your outfits and take care of your finances. Aventurine knows best. After all, he’s seen the worst parts of the world and climbed out of his own personal slice of hell. The universe is a cruel place and all he wants to do is shield you from it all by protecting the gold in your heart and the stars in your eyes. The boutiques are all devoid of anything befitting of your beauty, not that Aventurine cares. It just means he gets to go order something custom-made, tailored to fit you and match him perfectly, arguably even better than going out and buying something from a store. While it pleases him enough to know he’s paying for you, when he sees you all dressed up and matching him to a T in shades of green and gold–well, that’s an entirely different level of satisfaction.
As you begin the walk back to Aventurine’s penthouse apartment, the gambler is already looking online for new designers to contact. You ask him why he’s doing this. Once again, a soft smirk plays on Aventurine’s lips. “For starters, you look gorgeous in them,” he says, squeezing your hand a little tighter as the two of you fight your way through boulevards bustling with people. “It also makes it easier to find you in crowds when you’re all dressed up,” he adds, pausing for a moment. “And I don’t want to lose you, my love.” Aventurine lifts your hand up, softly whispering his words against the skin of your knuckles before he presses a chaste kiss to the back of your hand.
For a moment, there’s a slight tremor in his voice, his hand clenching even tighter around your own. It’s as though he’s afraid that if he relinquishes his hold on your hand, he won’t just lose you in the crowd, but forever.
The unspoken reason–that he likes to make sure everyone knows you’re his lover–lingers in the air around you like arms around your shoulders.

IT'S FINALLY HERE! THE TENGU AND THE ANGEL IS OUT NOW!
Tumblr media
Hello, hello, hello, everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you all! The Tengu And The Angel, my debut novel, is now finally available to buy! That's right, you can now get your very own copy of my fluffy, angsty, gay friends-to-lovers novel! Oh, but why would you want to, you might be asking? What's the book about! Great questions, my friends, and I'll answer them both for you right now!
The Tengu And The Angel is a friends-to-lovers romance about two roommates falling in love, and learning to let go of their pasts. Eighteen year old Kunio Yoshioka has just fled his abusive mother's home in Northampton, and he's journeying up north in search of a new home, and a fresh start in life. He's armed with nothing but his dreams of being a successful artist, and his vivid imagination. He thinks of his new adult self as a tengu; strong, proud, and capable of things his child self could only dream of. Twenty year old Nathaniel seems to have it all; he's gorgeous, he lives in a beautiful apartment in the centre of Newcastle, and he's the owner and founder of Black Rose, a Victorian gothic online boutique. Kunio thinks of him as angel; he's faultlessly polite and kind, and he goes above and beyond to help him when they first meet, even though he doesn't know him. He's also painfully insecure, and he lives under the thumb of his toxic 'best friend', Theo, who uses his mental illness to control him. When Nathaniel takes Kunio in, the two form a close friendship, which slowly blossoms into love. Can the two of them learn to put their pasts behind, and make their relationship work? Well, you're going to have to read it to find out! Get your copy from Rakuten Kobo, or from the Amazon Kindle Store below!

December Drabble Marathon 21/31: Choosing Gifts
Tumblr media
AU: Modern Established Relationship
Word Count: 2.4К
Summary: John and Gale are picking out gifts for each other.
The shopping mall buzzed with holiday excitement. People were frantically searching for gifts for their loved ones, storefronts shimmered with lights, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of cinnamon, pine, and hot chocolate.
John loved it all: the holidays, the crowds of inspired people, and the chance to watch someone making a last-minute choice between a toy for their child or a long-legged angel figurine to decorate their Christmas tree. Navigating through the crowd was as natural to him as breathing. Tall, energetic, and broad-shouldered, he looked like he was built to confidently sail through this living ocean. Sometimes, he even stood on tiptoes to get a bird’s-eye view of the mall and spot the most vibrant or interesting spots.
Gale, however, calm and introverted, would have preferred to stay home. He imagined himself sitting on the couch, legs crossed, with a laptop on his knees, scrolling through online shops in the quiet of the night, a cup of hot chocolate within reach. Every item could be carefully examined, specifications reviewed, and customer reviews read. Most importantly—no crowds.
But John was John. And now he moved confidently ahead, clearly enjoying the atmosphere, while Gale walked a little behind, carefully weaving between people. He looked elegant as always, but small gestures betrayed his irritation—adjusting his scarf or grimacing slightly at someone’s overly loud laughter nearby.
“Bucky, I still think we could’ve just ordered the gifts online,” Gale muttered, adjusting the cuff of his perfectly tailored coat. “It would’ve been so much easier.”
“Easier—sure, but nowhere near as fun,” John replied, turning back to him with a wide grin. “Holiday shopping is a tradition!”
“But we’re buying gifts for each other. We’re not even shopping together!” Gale pointed out, furrowing his brows.
“Well, as I walk you to the mall entrance, I get to put my hand on your back and show everyone what a catch I’ve got,” John shot back, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
Gale rolled his eyes, but John noticed the tips of his ears reddening with embarrassment.
“You’re impossible,” Gale muttered.
“Am I? And yet you’re still following me,” John teased with a smirk.
Gale held back a smile, continuing to walk behind him while mentally running through ideas for a gift. He had a few options in mind, but he wanted it to be perfect. After all, no one deserved the best more than John.
────⋆꙳•❅*•*❆ ₊⋆────
John was focused as he searched for a gift for Gale. He knew full well that Gale had refined taste and understood that anything tied to elegance and beauty would be a perfect fit. Gale might not pay attention to many details, but every choice he made was always impeccable.
Walking past a boutique, John suddenly stopped. His gaze fell on a display of luxury perfumes glistening under soft lighting.
“This is it,” he murmured under his breath, feeling something click inside.
He remembered how, many months ago, they had walked through a store together. Gale had paused at the counter of this very brand, his fingers gently tracing a bottle. His concentrated, slightly dreamy expression said more than words ever could. It was a rich scent with woody and floral notes: bergamot, orange, and patchouli—perfect for Gale. Later, Gale had spoken about the cologne for a long time but never bought it, saying, “There are more important things than perfume.” But for John, nothing was more important than Gale.
Inside the store, a helpful consultant assisted John in quickly selecting that exact bottle. As John left the boutique with a small bag in hand, he already imagined Gale’s smile when he saw it.
But as he walked out of the store, John suddenly froze.
“Something’s missing…” he muttered, glancing thoughtfully at the displays around him.
His eyes landed on a neighboring shop, where silk scarves were laid out with such elegant precision that they seemed to invite him in. Among them was one—a delicate shade of blue—that seemed made to highlight Gale’s eyes.
“Perfect,” John said with a smile, confidently stepping inside. His mind was already picturing the scarf neatly placed in a box and later, perhaps, becoming part of something far more intimate.
────⋆꙳•❅*•*❆ ₊⋆────
Meanwhile, Gale was standing at a ticket counter, intently studying the schedule on the screen. Finally, he found what he was looking for: two tickets to John’s favorite team’s game, with seats right by the field. After making the purchase, he looked at the tickets in his hand, feeling a flicker of doubt. For him, someone who couldn’t understand the joy of watching sports even at home, attending a stadium filled with cheering crowds seemed almost torturous.
“Well, I’ll survive one evening of his endless sports commentary,” Gale muttered under his breath.
He sighed, recalling how at home, sitting next to John on the couch, he often felt like the grumpy wife in a sitcom—the kind who worries about a turkey burning in the oven or paying off the mortgage, while her husband excitedly explains game rules, oblivious to her lack of interest. “At the stadium, it’ll be even worse,” he thought. The crowd, the noise, John’s endless talk about team strategy—it was bound to be ten times more embarrassing amidst dozens and hundreds of men for whom sports were more religion than entertainment.
But despite all that, Gale already knew he was ready to endure it for John.
Tucking the tickets into his pocket, he took a deep breath and headed to another shop. He spent some time there picking out something special and eventually walked out, as satisfied as a cat with cream, carrying an additional gift for John. His determination to give John the perfect surprise only grew stronger, no matter the sacrifices he imagined ahead.
────⋆꙳•❅*•*❆ ₊⋆────
After their shopping spree, they met at the entrance of the mall. John stood there, pleased and slightly disheveled, wearing a victorious expression. In his hands were two cups of hot chocolate, one clearly meant for Gale. Gale, on the other hand, looked tired but more relaxed than one might expect.
“Tired?” John asked, handing him one of the cups. It was obvious he had bought it moments before meeting Gale, as if he’d sensed he’d need it.
“A little,” Gale admitted, accepting the warm cup and letting the pleasant aroma of chocolate wrap around him. He buried his nose in the steam rising from the drink and felt the warmth spread through him, chasing away the remnants of shopping-induced stress. Stealing a glance at John, he gave him a soft, grateful look, one he tried not to make too obvious. John, as always, knew what he needed before he even realized it himself.
“See?” John said with a broad grin. “I told you shopping could be fun!”
“Too much fun…” Gale muttered, hiding behind the cup and taking a small sip.
“Hey, don’t relax too much,” John teased, smirking. “Tomorrow we’re picking out gifts for family and friends.”
“Oh no…” Gale groaned, nearly choking on his hot chocolate. “Can’t we order online?”
“Online?” John exclaimed in mock horror. “Are you kidding? How else would I assess Aunt Peggy’s bust size without hugging a mannequin in the store? Online shopping can’t offer that! So, brace yourself, soldier—tomorrow we’re back in the trenches.”
“You’re impossible,” Gale sighed, shaking his head. But his eyes gleamed with a faint smile, quickly hidden behind his knitted scarf.
They stepped into the cold evening air, filled with the scents of pine and winter. And though neither of them knew exactly what awaited the other under the tree, they were both certain the gifts would be something truly special.
────⋆꙳•❅*•*❆ ₊⋆────
They sat on the floor in front of the shimmering Christmas tree, exchanging intrigued glances. The gifts lay nearby, their wrapping glistening under the festive lights.
John, beaming with excitement, was the first to pick up a neatly wrapped box and extend it to Gale.
“Your turn, handsome,” he said with a smile.
Gale raised an eyebrow, looking at the gift with exaggerated surprise.
“Wow, a real present?” Gale exclaimed, his eyes widening in mock amazement. “Not your… uh, dick with a red bow? I must say, I’m impressed.”
John snorted, barely containing his laughter.
“A dick with a bow is reserved for later tonight…” he quipped, his grin widening.
“Bucky…” Gale’s tone carried a warning edge, his frown exaggerated but unmistakable.
“Alright, alright!” John raised his hands in playful surrender. “No dicks with bows, I swear!” He paused, his eyes gleaming mischievously, and added with deliberate slowness, “It’ll be without a bow... later. Now, just open your present already.”
Gale rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress a smile as he took the box. He carefully unwrapped the gift, taking his time, but the anticipation on his face betrayed his excitement.
John always found it endearing how Gale unwrapped presents. He didn’t tear through the paper in a rush to get to the contents; instead, he meticulously untied the ribbons, loosened the knots, and removed the wrapping with the precision of a surgeon, ensuring not a single piece was damaged. Every time, this brought a warm smile to John’s face—Gale, who had grown up in a modest household, appreciated even the smallest details, finding meaning in them beyond their apparent simplicity.
Gale always found a use for the wrapping paper: one piece would line the bottom of a trinket box where he kept stray buttons and small knick-knacks; another might be turned into a bookmark for his favorite book; the brightest piece of wrapping paper would sometimes be taped to the wall above his desk, creating a small, colorful corner that reminded him of the holidays.
John found this incredibly sweet, especially when he stumbled upon familiar scraps of wrapping paper in unexpected places. For instance, once he discovered a fragment of shiny green paper lining the bottom of a kitchen drawer with utensils. Or a piece with golden stars, neatly trimmed and taped to the lid of a tin box where Gale kept pencils. These scattered pieces of bright paper brought them back to the joyful moments of holidays past. It was as if Gale knew how to preserve fragments of warmth and magic, even in the most mundane things.
Over time, John had started unwrapping his own gifts more carefully, inspired by Gale’s attention to detail. Now, he too tried not to rip the paper, setting it aside neatly and reminding himself that even in the simplest things, there could be hidden value.
When Gale finally opened the box, his gaze immediately fell on the familiar bottle inside. He froze, his fingers gently brushing the cap.
“You remembered…” he whispered, unable to take his eyes off the cologne he had once dreamed of but never dared to buy.
“Of course I remembered,” John said with a soft smile, proud of his choice. “It suits you perfectly.”
Gale opened his mouth to thank him, but John suddenly hesitated, as though he had something more to say but wasn’t sure how to phrase it.
“Just…” John began, lowering his gaze.
“What?” Gale asked curiously.
John sighed.
“Don’t wear it to bed.”
“Why not?” Gale blinked, his voice tinged with mild surprise.
John lifted his head, his expression slightly shy but utterly sincere.
“Because I love your scent just the way it is. No additives.”
Gale gave a bashful smile before reaching into the box and pulling out the light blue silk scarf. He ran his fingers over the fabric, its softness making his smile widen.
“Bucky… It’s gorgeous,” he said, wrapping it around his neck.
“It perfectly brings out your eyes,” John added, pleased with his choice.
“You’re spoiling me.”
“You deserve it.”
Now it was Gale’s turn. He pulled a large box wrapped in several layers of bright paper and placed it in front of John.
“Your turn. But be careful—it’s fragile,” he warned, a mischievous glint in his eye.
John eagerly began unwrapping the box. He removed the top layer, expecting to find something grand inside, but instead uncovered a smaller box within.
“What the…” he raised an eyebrow, glancing at Gale.
“Keep going,” Gale said, smiling, trying to hold back laughter.
John opened the smaller box and pulled out a porcelain figurine of a white unicorn with golden hooves and a shimmering golden horn. The figurine was delicate, with large, endearing eyes, and so adorably kitschy that John couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Well? What do you think?” Gale asked, barely suppressing his amusement.
“I still think the unicorn’s horn shouldn’t be on its head,” John smirked, turning the figurine in his hands.
Gale snorted and swatted John on the shoulder.
“Pervert! This, for your information, is so you don’t lose your engagement ring!” he said with mock indignation. “Now you can hang it on the horn instead of tossing it somewhere and then turning the house upside down in a panic to find it.”
“You’re thoughtful,” John grinned, examining the figurine. “Fine, I promise I’ll hang the ring on the horn. Just don’t let me forget where I put the figurine.”
Gale sighed but couldn’t hide his smile.
“And that’s not all,” he added. “Look further.”
John paused, his hands rummaging through the seemingly empty box. His brow furrowed slightly as the thought crossed his mind—could this be payback for that time he tied a red bow around his dick as a "gift" for Gale? But then his fingers brushed against something thin and flat.
He pulled out a small envelope carefully tucked into the center of the box. Opening it, John found two tickets inside. His eyes widened as he stared at them, almost in disbelief. Slowly, he raised his gaze to Gale, who sat across from him with a soft smile and a trace of nervousness in his expression.
“Are you serious?” John finally breathed, his voice tinged with excitement. “You’re coming with me?”
“Yes,” Gale confirmed with a small shrug. “I’ll endure all those strikes, home runs, batters, fastballs, and innings for one evening.”
John set the tickets aside, and without saying a word, pulled Gale into a tight hug. He knew how much it must have taken for Gale to decide on this, and he understood that this wasn’t just a gesture. It was about love, acceptance, and a willingness to do the impossible for each other.
“Thank you,” was all John managed to say as he held Gale even closer.
Gale smiled, feeling perfectly happy in John’s arms.

Even as missiles fall on Ukraine and troops brace for a Russian spring offensive from the east, Kyiv is looking west. The U.S. congressional fight over aid to Ukraine, entangled as it is with border policy and presidential politics, has become a matter of survival for 43 million Ukrainians. In more than two years of war, Russian President Vladimir Putin has not broken Ukrainian will. Abandonment by the United States could achieve what Putin never has.
This month, I made a 1300-mile trip around Ukraine as part of a delegation hosted by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). We visited Kyiv and Odesa as well as Dnipro, Kharkiv, and other places farther east. The situation on the ground is changing, and U.S. political leaders should understand the enormous stakes. Those now debating the fate of assistance to Ukraine are deliberating over the fate of Ukraine itself.
The first thing that strikes a visitor to wartime in Ukraine is how remarkably normal life seems in many areas. Normal, that is, until the signs of war creep in—gradually and then suddenly.
Odesa’s elegantly beautiful theater remains open, and operas and shows go on. (Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco and Franco Alfano and Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot played a few days after our visit.) Yet the city was under an air alert as we arrived, and a walk along the seaside promenade revealed coiled barbed wire at each staircase.
In a mostly unheralded success, Ukraine has cleared the Black Sea coast of Russian warships—despite having a tiny navy with no warships of its own—and now exports grain from Odesa at near prewar levels. Ships load grain and skirt the coast as they head west, staying away from Russian predation. Outside the city, soldiers man roadside checkpoints to examine the papers of draft-age men.
In a town that we visited in Kherson Oblast, which suffered under Russian occupation until late 2022, virtually every building was damaged. Missile strikes, mortar fire, and machine guns took a serious toll. Many inhabitants fled the fighting, joining either the 6.5 million Ukrainian refugees outside the country or the 3.7 million displaced inside it. UNHCR and other aid agencies are assisting those who remained and others who have returned. Some never will.
We met one man in the town who stayed through it all. “It’s like you see on TV in America,” he said. “You know when there’s a hurricane and someone says, ‘It’s my home, I’m not leaving?’ That was me.”
The biggest problem, he said, were soldiers from the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, the puppet governments set up in the regions by Moscow. Often drunk, the soldiers looted houses, hassled people, and carted home everything they could. A local official said that Russian troops had established multiple torture centers during the occupation.
The man’s son, a tall 15-year-old with a grin and the taciturn bearing of a teenage boy, described life before and after the Russians came. Did he miss the way things were before the war? Yes, he said: “Some of my acquaintances have passed away.”
Downtown Dnipro could pass for Vancouver or Boston, with its illuminated streets, pedestrian areas, fine restaurants, and high-end boutiques. Couples dine, families stroll at night, and the stores are stocked. Yet the war wasn’t far away during our visit; an air alert awakened us early in the morning. As our phone alerts went off and air raid sirens sounded, we headed to the shelter. Russia launched more than 60 drones and missiles at Ukraine that day, some of which made it to Kyiv. The attack set a large apartment building on fire in the capital and killed four people. Two days later, we would visit this site, where the rebuilding had already begun.
Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has emerged as an epicenter of recent Russian military activity. Most students there are relegated to online learning, since their schools lack the shelters necessary to protect against air attacks. More than 2,000 children go to class underground in subway stations. We visited one of these subway schools, watching fourth graders solve math problems and work on projects. Play areas took up space at the backs of classrooms. I wish members of the U.S. Congress could see the effects of Russia’s two-year war on the country and witness Ukrainian resilience in the face of relentless attack.
Ukrainians are resilient but not invincible. They see bombed-out buildings, awaken to air alert sirens each night, and feel Moscow’s newfound confidence on the battlefield. They know that last year’s counteroffensive produced few gains, and that Avdiivka’s recent fall marks Russia’s first significant territorial gain since May 2023. Diminishing supplies of ammunition and other Western-provided weapons have made the war more difficult and more costly in terms of Ukrainian lives.
Yet most wish to fight on. Polls show a small but growing number of Ukrainians wishing to trade land for peace, if such an outcome is possible. The majority wish to continue the fight. They watched Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson and saw the Russian president’s insistence on their country’s historic artificiality. They know, from the atrocities that have occurred in Bucha and elsewhere, what Russian occupation might mean. They see the war as a fight for survival.
Ukrainians also know, however, that they cannot keep it up alone. They quietly observe that European aid (generous though it is) won’t be sufficient, either. In Kyiv, officials follow every twist and turn of the $60 billion earmarked for Ukraine in a proposed supplemental aid package from the United States. It’s a large amount of money, equivalent to roughly 7 percent of the U.S. Defense Department’s annual budget, and combines military, humanitarian, and budget support. Ukraine’s future turns greatly on it.
U.S. missile defense currently protects Ukrainian cities, and officials worry about the violence that Russia will unleash if U.S. interceptors stop arriving. Front-line Ukrainian troops are running out of ammunition, and declining access to military equipment could allow Russia to take more territory. Even factoring in the latest European aid package, Ukrainian officials (and those at the U.S. Treasury Department) project empty government coffers within months, rendering them unable to pay worker salaries or pensions. Their fallback plan is to print more money, fully understanding the disastrous hyperinflation such a move would produce.
In the meantime, U.S. humanitarian aid provides food, shelter, medical care, and other support for a traumatized population that nevertheless wishes to carry on.
Beyond material support, my visit made clear that the psychological effect of global solidarity, especially from the United States, remains vital. In conversations with everyone, from the top of government to citizens living just miles from the front lines, there was one message: Please stay with us—we can’t do this alone. U.S. abandonment would be devastating.
There is a lot of trouble in the world today, some of it far closer to home for Washington than places such as Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Kherson. A poll conducted in February by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Ipsos found that a majority of Americans continue to support helping Ukraine, as do majorities in both houses of Congress. Yet two years in, and after billions of aid has already been delivered, Americans might reasonably ask why more, and why now.
Calls to defend the rules-based international order tend to provoke eye-rolling derision these days. So too do descriptions of the United States’ indispensability in the face of global problems. Yet the prohibition against forcible conquest stands at the heart of the postwar global order. Putin’s violation of that taboo—if ultimately successful—would augur a new and more dangerous era. The United States, unfashionable though it may be to observe, is indispensable in resisting it.
Ultimately, Ukraine is fighting a shift from order to the law of the jungle, where the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. In a world awash with trouble, and with huge demands on U.S. resources, the stakes in Ukraine remain very high—and perhaps unique. The alternative to continued Western support is not an indefinite stalemate or frozen conflict. It is a potential Russian victory.
This is the context in which today’s debate should take place. It’s clear on the ground: Ukrainian will to resist aggression is remarkable, but it remains inextricably linked to U.S. support and solidarity. If the United States abandons Ukraine, then the West may well accomplish the very thing that Putin has thus far found impossible.

San Myshuno Meadows Mall
Tumblr media
This build is based off of the Eaton Center in Toronto Ontario.
The mall is decorated for Christmas for Christmas gameplay shopping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All items have been marked for sale. *While play testing I noticed that even with 3 employees it was still rather difficult to get to customers to ring them up as there are 3 retail floors.
The fourth floor is a food court that offers a cafe, 2 resturants, and 6 vendors. Looking online it states that only 4 vendors can be on a lot at a time. * However While play testing I found that only two vendors will allow for hire. Little Ms Sam's has a mod that will add a lot trait to auto hire vendors. If you play with mods this is highly recommended. *If you decide to change the lot type to community market place from eco lifestyle it will auto hire up to 3 vendors. This would be recommended if you are looking to use the lot mostly as a hangout opposed to retail.
The First Floor:
Freezer Bunnies - Childs toy store
Sport Simmers - Outdoor sports store
Simsy - Clothing unisex store for young adults
Bubbly - Bubble tea shop

In this save file the lot is owned and operated by the Landgrab Shopping Centers. This is the second location opened (the first one from Del Sol Valley)
This lot was placed in San Myshuno replacing the Art Center on a 30x40 lot at 546 kb - it is on the gallery as Landgrab Shopping mallV4
As I work towards finishing off Willow Creek of my Save file I thought I would give a sneak peak into some of what I am working on. My builds come to me in the moment, this past week it was building a Christmas decorated mall.
Stay tuned for more on my Canadian Save File <3

Whistling a catchy tune from a game he played a while back, he threw a few more random items into his cart. A new toothbrush, a bottle of mouthwash, a hair comb to replace his old one, a bottle of 2-in-1 shampoo conditioner, and some deodorant. He paused for a moment at the hair dye, considering it from a couple angles. He was changing up his look in response to recent events, and dyeing his hair would be a fairly quick way to achieve that. Ultimately, the memory of Cherie’s stupid red streak convinced him to move on. Maybe in a few months after he’d had time to stop associating dyed hair with his sister. Yet another example of family ruining things he otherwise liked. Mood soured, he checked out at the register, paying in cash and carefully arranging things in his backpack as they were scanned.
BAD ALEC FANFICTION SINS LIST:
again, implausible premise to be at a realass regular boring store instead of ordering online Or at Fancy Princess's Boutique
he doesn't use 2-in-1 shampoo he buys nice fancy womens shampoo and conditioner. and then just pours both of them into his palm at the same time and uses them simultaneously because he's lazy. i can tell op thinks alec isnt gnc.
idk or care what the recent events are but any ways. alec would never want to dye his hair. special princes dont put Chemicals on their beautiful gorgeous black locks they just slap a crown on it.
he's not even capable of the self awareness or emotional literacy to decide that he wants to like. change anything about his look or self image
if he ever did reach a point of wanting to change his look or self image for crisis reasons he would end up with a gay undercut and shitty diy pearl earring piercings that are probably going to get infected. note that his look or self image would never be significantly modified Outside of crisis reasons or major character development, really.
does not have the emotional literacy to go "this reminds me of cherie. i am in a bad mood now." would instead go "nahh its dumb and trashy" [fully thinking abt cherie but thinking its unrelated]
'carefully arranging' no he wouldnt
btw he doesnt whistle just randomly for fun he only whistles to Communicate something. like an affected air of ease to annoy someone else.
