I'm so glad to hear from Jinki on his IG and it seems he's fine. 😊This made my day and I'm doing a special Jinki blog today with some great duets along with Punch (Way), Lee Jin-ah (Starry Night), Rocoberry (Edit: Lullabye) and Kei (Good Bye Days).

Yoo Mirae (Korean: 유미래, born January 6, 1997), known professionally as Bliss (Korean: 블리스; Japanese: 至福), is a Korean singer, dancer, and actress based in South Korea. She is a former member of the South Korean girl group Venus, formed by Angelico Entertainment in 2018. She is portrayed by Lee Yoomi & Wendy Son.

Mirae was born on January 6, 1997, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Her mother is the esteemed musical theatre actress Yoo Misun. Mirae attended high school at the School of Performing Arts in Seoul. Throughout her school years, she starred in multiple school musicals. She joined a school drama club and earned more experience in the entertainment industry by attending auditions.

In 2014, Mirae joined Angelico Entertainment as a trainee after passing its auditions. 

In October 2014, she appeared in Emphasis' music video for "Du Du Du!" as a lifeguard. The same year, she starred in Priority's "Say You Love Me" music video as Reid's love interest. In 2015, she would be featured in W Korea alongside Kang Juwon of Priority. Mirae would do a lot of modeling pre-debut, working with brands such as Laneige, Nature Republic, Amuse, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Etude House.

𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖: 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭 ���𝐧 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐒

On March 17, 2018, Mirae would officially debut in VENUS with the release of their first extended play (EP), SHE DEVIL, and its lead single, "SHE DEVIL." She would take on the stage name "Bliss."

She was the group's co-leader, main rapper, and main vocalist.

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎 - 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏: 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭

In January 2020, Bliss made her acting debut as the female lead in the web drama Please Try Again, which achieved record-breaking viewership.

On March 24, 2021, Bliss was announced as a cast member for the musical Midnight Sun as Seo Haena, with DAY6's Wonpil, Baekho, DeepDive's Kiwoo, GOT7's Youngjae, Shinee's Onew, Kang Hye-in, Kei, and Lee Ah-jin. To promote the musical, she collaborated with stage member Onew to release "A Melody Called You (너라는 멜로디)"

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐒

On June 10, 2024, during the Venus contract transfer, Bliss, unlike the other four members of Venus, would not sign with Mydol Entertainment. A letter announcing Bliss's departure from the group would be posted to Venus' social media accounts.

It is still under heavy debate if Bliss left the group or was removed by Mydol CEOs.

On August 7th, 2024, Bliss renewed her contract with Angelico Entertainment.

Before her debut with Venus, Yoonah featured in advertisements for Samsonite, Smart Uniform, LG Electronics, and Nikon. 

In September 2018, Bliss and band-mate Baebi became endorsement models for Japanese cosmetics brand Kiss Me. 

In September 2021, Bliss was announced as the new host of the program Music Bank with L.O.L's Jesse. For their performance on the program, they were awarded with the Best Couple Award at the 2021 KBS Entertainment Awards.

In February 2021, Korean clothing brand It Michaa selected Bliss as its muse for its Spring 2021 collection. She was also appointed for the summer 2021 campaign on It Michaa's line, For a Day Michaa. 

In 2022, Coca-Cola Korea selected Bliss as an endorsement model for Dr Pepper.

In January 2023, Bliss stepped down as Music Bank host after sixteen months in the role.

In February 2023, Bliss became the new muse for the South Korean casual fashion brand SJSJ.

In December 2023, Dyson selected Bliss as its official Brand Ambassador, representing the new Dyson hair care products. Then, in January 2024, the American athletic apparel retailer Alo Yoga announced Bliss as the new face for its spring 2024 campaign.

SHINee Appears on Knowing Bros

The Knowing Bros classroom buzzed with excitement as the cast prepared to welcome their special guests. The door slid open, and in walked SHINee—Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin—instantly lighting up the room with their presence. The audience cheered wildly, and the cast stood up to greet them with applause.

“Ohhhh, SHINee is here!” Kang Ho-dong exclaimed, clapping loudly. “The legends themselves! Welcome!”

“SHINee’s in the building!” Lee Soo Geun exclaimed, clapping enthusiastically.

“It’s been a while since we had all of you together,” Kim Heechul added with his signature grin. “We’re expecting a fun episode today.”

The members bowed politely, their bright smiles filling the room.

“Annyeonghaseyo! SHINee imnida!” they chorused, radiating charm and confidence.

Heechul, with his trademark smirk, wasted no time. “I’ve been waiting for this day! Taemin-ah, you’re finally here. We have so much to talk about.”

Taemin looked a little wary but smiled shyly. “Ah… Why do I feel like this is going to be dangerous?”

Key immediately pointed at him. “It’s always dangerous when Heechul is involved. Don’t trust him!”

The cast burst out laughing.

“Don’t act innocent!” Seo Jang Hoon chimed in, pointing at Taemin. “You know what you did. Let’s talk about Ruby!”

The moment her name was mentioned, the rest of the cast erupted into laughter, and Taemin’s ears immediately turned red.

“Ruby?” Onew said, turning to Taemin with a smirk. “What’s this about Ruby?”

“Don’t act like you don’t know!” Lee Jin Ho teased.

Kang Ho-dong leaned forward eagerly and said, “Taemin, Taemin, let’s not waste time. Did you watch the episode of Knowing Bros where Ruby and Taeyong appeared?”

Taemin’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink as the room erupted in cheers and laughter. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking embarrassed. “Yes… I saw it.”

The cast immediately pounced on his reaction. Seo Jang-hoon grinned. “Oh, look at him blushing! Taemin-ah, you really watched it, didn’t you?”

Taemin nodded, trying to contain his smile. “I did. It was… entertaining.”

“Entertaining?!” Kim Young-chul said, feigning shock. “Taemin’s been all over the internet because of that Knowing Bros episode with Ruby and Taeyong.”

Key grinned, leaning toward Taemin. “Yeah, Taemin. You’ve been trending for weeks! That clip of Taeyong choosing you for Ruby went viral.”

Kim Heechul chuckled, clearly enjoying Taemin’s growing discomfort. “It was the most-watched Knowing Bros episode of the year. Congratulations, Taemin-ah.”

“Yah!” Taemin protested, his face now fully flushed. “Why are we talking about this? I didn’t even do anything!”

“Really?” Heechul interjected with a raised eyebrow. “So you didn’t see the episode where Taeyong said you’d be the perfect match for Ruby.”

Key leaned into Taemin, smirking. “You saw that part, right? The clip where Taeyong said you should marry Ruby? It went viral. You couldn’t have missed it.”

Taemin, now fully red, covered his face with his hands. “I saw it, okay? It was everywhere!”

The cast exploded into laughter, with Kang Ho Dong slamming the table in delight. “Oh, he definitely saw it! Look at his face!”

Key leaned back in his chair, laughing. “Taemin, why didn’t you tell us you were watching it? Were you analyzing Taeyong’s reasoning for approving you?”

“No!” Taemin exclaimed, burying his face in his hands. “I just… It popped up on my feed, okay? Everyone was tagging me!”

Lee Sang-min chuckled, “It wasn’t just everywhere—it was the most-watched episode of the year. That clip alone had millions of views in just a few days.”

Lee Soo-geun grinned. “Fans were going crazy about it. They started calling you and Ruby the ‘Ultimate K-pop Power Couple.’”

Seo Jang Hoon leaned back, crossing his arms smugly. “See, Taemin? Even Taeyong, her best friend, approved of you. That’s a big deal.”

“Exactly!” Kang Ho-dong added.

“So, what did you think of Taeyong’s answer? He said you’d be a good match for Ruby.”

Taemin hesitated, his brain scrambling for a neutral response. “I… I was surprised. I didn’t expect him to say that.”

Young Chul Kim then said, “Taeyong practically handed Ruby over to you on a silver platter!”

Taemin shook his head, laughing nervously. “You’re all making it sound way bigger than it is.”

“Oh, no, no,” Seo Jang-hoon interjected, waving his hand. “This is a huge deal, Taemin. Ruby even said on the show that she gets shy around you. That means you must have a special place in her heart!”

The cast roared with laughter as Taemin’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. He fidgeted in his seat, clearly flustered. “Hyungs, you’re going to make this so awkward the next time I see her!”

“That’s the point!” Heechul said, grinning mischievously.

Kang Ho-dong smirked. “Come on, Taemin. Be honest. You liked hearing it, didn’t you?”

“I—” Taemin started, but he was cut off by Heechul.

“Look, let me make this easy for you,” Heechul said, leaning forward dramatically. “Do you think you and Ruby would make a good couple?”

The room went silent, all eyes on Taemin, who looked like he wanted to disappear into his chair.

“I—uh—she’s very talented and—”

“Talented and?” Lee Soo Geun prompted, leaning closer with a grin.

“She’s hardworking and kind,” Taemin said quickly, his face burning.

The cast burst into laughter again, and Minho patted Taemin on the back. “Good job, Taemin. Way to dodge the question completely.”

“Okay, okay, let’s move on,” Taemin said, waving his hands in surrender.

But Heechul wasn’t done. “Move on? Oh no, we’re just getting started. Ruby’s episode set the bar high, so now we need some answers. What would you do if Ruby confessed to you?”

Taemin choked on air, and Onew had to hand him a water bottle while everyone else laughed hysterically.

“I can’t believe this,” Taemin muttered, shaking his head.

“Fine, we’ll let you off the hook—for now,” Kang Ho Dong said with a mischievous grin. “But only if you promise to invite us to the wedding.”

“What wedding?!” Taemin exclaimed, his voice cracking slightly.

“The one Taeyong and the rest of the Shinee members will plan for you and Ruby,” Seo Jang Hoon said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

At this point, even the SHINee members were struggling to contain their laughter.

“You know,” Min Kyung Hoon said, smirking at Taemin, “Ruby’s really talented. She’s got a great voice, a cool stage presence… I can see why Taeyong approved of you.”

Taemin buried his face in his hands, laughing helplessly. “Hyung, please! You’re going to make the fans misunderstand!”

Kang Ho-dong leaned in conspiratorially. “But if Ruby asked you, ‘Taemin-oppa, will you marry me?’ What would you say?”

The cast and SHINee members howled with laughter, and Taemin shook his head vigorously. “I don’t know! Stop putting me on the spot!”

Minho smirked, patting Taemin on the back. “I think we all know the answer, though.”

Seo Jang-hoon nodded sagely. “It’s written all over his face.”

The teasing continued, with Heechul pretending to be jealous. “Yah, Taemin! What about me? I’ve been telling Ruby we’re going to get married for years. How dare you swoop in and steal my future bride?”

Key rolled his eyes dramatically. “Hyung, you have no chance. Taemin already has the fans’ approval, Taeyong’s approval, and now Ruby’s probably blushing just as much as Taemin is watching this!”

Taemin groaned, covering his face again. “Can we talk about something else, please?”

“Sure,” Heechul said with a sly grin. “But don’t think this is over. Ruby’s a hot topic right now, and so are you. The fans love this!”

The room erupted into chaos once more, with the cast and SHINee members enjoying every second of Taemin’s adorable flustered state. It was clear that Ruby’s Knowing Bros episode had left a lasting impression—not just on the fans, but on Taemin himself.

As the laughter settled, Kang Ho-dong leaned back, smiling warmly. “Taemin, don’t worry. Whatever happens, the most important thing is that Ruby thinks highly of you. That’s what matters.”

Taemin smiled shyly, nodding. “Thank you, hyung.”

But just as the conversation seemed to calm down, Heechul smirked and leaned over. “Just don’t forget to invite me to the wedding, okay?”

And with that, the room exploded into laughter once again, the episode as another iconic moment in Knowing Bros history.

After talking to @eddis-not-eeddis about Korean music, I thought I'd put together a list of Korean music that carried me through the last years of high school/first year uni :)

I listened to mostly kpop (and some r&b/indie/rap/alternative/pop rock) near the end of high school, but it became too tiring to listen to, and I became more interested in other genres of Korean music. I've linked a few of my favourite albums below, but most of those artistts have grown in name and (relative) fame since I began listening to them. Here are a a few more recommendations (some of which are smaller/lesser known artists, some of which have big presences in the industry):

Acoustic indie: OKDAL, Han All, Kim Na Young, Standing Egg, Lucid Fall, Sugarbowl, J Rabbit, Urban Zakapa

R&B: Zion.T, Zico, HYUKOH, Heize, GSoul, Ra.D, Crush, DEAN

Ballads: Ji Jin Seok, Park Hyo-shin, Jeong Sewoon, Kim Jin-ah, ONEW, Jung Seung Hwan, Paul Kim

Bands: Martin Smith, LUCY (they have a VIOLINIST !!!), The Rose

Indiepop/pop artists who branched out to different genres: Minseo, Chen, AILEE, BOL4, Sandeul, ONEW, Jonghyun, Monogram, Roy Kim, Lee Hi

Sam Kim's Sun and Moon was THE album of the year in grade 12. Every single track on this album is memorable. Sam Kim (from Seattle!) is signed under Antenna Music, whose other artists are worth checking out, too, if you're interested in unconventional, unique indie music (Antenna's whole brand is letting the artists explore their own tastes and interests; it's a whole agency of singer-songwriters). Sam Kim himself is an excellent guitarist, and likes to dabble every once in a while in other genres (r&b, ballads, pop) and has performed singles for k-drama soundtracks in the past. First song rec: It's You for a relaxed indiepop sound, NO SENSE from his album I AM SAM for a demonstration of his guitar picking style.

Lee Jin-ah is also at Antenna Music. When she arrived on the music scene with her voice and her piano, even big names like JYP (which is one of the "Big Three" pop music companies) were scrambling to offer her a contract. Her jazz piano background brings something very distinctive to the Korean music industry; she combines that with r&b and bubblegum pop influences, which is a really interesting contrast with her light, airy, fairy-like voice :) First song rec: RANDOM (a good intro to her eclectic style), Let's Go Camping (a slower acoustic/piano track that displays her whimsical sound in a softer way).

Eddy Kim's acoustic stuff is pretty good easy listening. I listened to his music constantly in high school. He's less experimental in his music style than Sam Kim, for example, but when he sticks to his brand (guy with guitar and a regular percussive beat) he comes up with some really good music. First song rec: 2 years apart or The Manual

AKMU (Akdong Musician) is probably the only big name company musician I still follow/listen to. They signed with JYP when they were in their mid-teens -- JYP is the only one among the Big Three companies that branches out from mainstream pop the most. AKMU is a brother-sister duo that creates quirky, whimsical indie-pop music with a very distinctive sound (they often sing together; the sister is an incredible vocalist and the brother is the one who composes and produces). More recent music has either gone electro-pop or acoustic based indie. I've added two albums here (one from their teenage years, one more recent) as a nice comparison. You can hear how their style has changed over the years! First song rec: How People Move (a funky, energetic title track), Time and Fallen Leaves (ballad), Last Goodbye (they incorporated a familiar classical music song into this in a very creative way)

Last of all, someone who technically is part of the pop scene in Korea, but whose sound is more memorable to me. IU's charm is the versatility in her voice; she's experimented with many genres in her extensive career (she was a child star). Musical theatre, jazz, singsong rap, ballads, bubblegum pop, electropop, indiepop, acoustic indie, alternative....... she's literally done it all (well. Aside from rock, metal, and traditional folk music). LILAC is one of her more recent albums (for a more acoustic indie sound, I'd recommend Palette). First song rec: LILAC (this is a pretty good example of the unique things she brings to the kpop scene: a theatrical, refreshing sound), My sea (a kdrama OST-style ballad that demonstrates her vocal ability and range), Through the Night from her Palette album (soft relaxing acoustic song)
