OK so I finished my first read of 2020 with a BIT of a dissapointment.

Synopsis: We follow Bea, a plus-size women who runs a fashion blog and one day while watching Main Squeeze, a dating reality TV show where a women is set up on dates with 25 men to find love at the end and get engaged, Bea gets mad by the lack of diversity on the show, both by race and body image. She quickly tweets all her opinions while drunk and later the executive producer of the show reaches out to Bea with an offer for herself to come on the show!

WITHOUT spoilers review:-

I really liked the book! I loved the author's writing, the characters were so witty and funny. The way the author wrote the book was very interesting to me. We followed each ep of the show and then all the gossip and headlines. It was so much fun. While reading the chat thread of every ep discussion, the characters would speak my heart and I felt like I was actually buddy reading the book with my friends. (Home alone on new year can feel a little lonely, no?🙈)

Our main character being plus sized causes a lot of problems on the show and if one thing I learnt from the book is most men are trash. I thought the author was very brave to not give the readers a single man to root for. I can see how many would ship the ship the author wanted to sail but I personally did not want that ship to sail at all 😗.

SPOILER review:- I've been waiting for get this out! I need to know! Did anyone love the chef's character Luc? Please tell me u did😭 I shipped him and Bea so hard guys😞. I can't believe the author did him so dirty. I personally didnot like Asher a lot.. I KNOW he has his past but comeon he was on a dating show! He can't be getting upset everytime Bae kissed someone. I was so shook when he left the show in the finale, it made no sense to me that he cut off any contact with her for months. I cannot believe she still ended up with him after the show, I would've picked Chris Evans any day over him.

I was so heart broken when Bae saw Luc and Lauren together, I swear I felt my heart crack💔.Luc was there for Bae from the beginning, I fell in love with his character the moment he said he was a chef then again after he made crème brule. Also didn't Lac say that for him love wasn't possessive? Then why would he go to Asher making it seem like he and Bae slept together? Maybe I'm thinking way too much into it but let me know what you think.

Jefferson, Nash and Cooper were literally the mean girls in school. I wanted to punch their faces so bad👊.

For Waytt, I suspected he was gay or asexual very much from the beginning. Like Bae said, he was too good to be true.

I thought Sam was very funny, I think I wouldn't have complained a lot if instead of Lac, Sam won. His easy going personality and how he made Bae realize everytime she felt unsure about their relationship that he was being serious about her. He was cute.

As for Ray, I think everything Marin said about him was 100% true. I never liked Ray, he was suck a jerk from the beginning and I was terrified that the author would make Bae choose him in the end but I'm so thankful she didn't.

Since Luc cheated on Bea, I was very dissapointed and lost a bit of interest in the book but then ofc Ray came. If I ask me if I liked the ending? It's a no and a yes. I would've LOVED the book if the author didn't decide to ruin Luc's character but I also liked that Bae choose herself on the show.

I'd give this book a solid 7/10. I think people who love to watch reality shows specifically The Bachelor, Love Island, Too Hot to Handle would absolutely love this book. I've never watched these shows but the book was so interesting, I think I might now 😝.
