First of all thank you for the reply and second I do agree that whether it's men or women, taking down an entire gang singlehandedly is impossible job but when a well built guy takes down an another buff guy in single one to one combat, isn't it looks more reasonable than the same thing being done by a slender woman.as you said they are actresses/models not the real warriors. I know, the actors are also not the real Vikings lol but my point is that look, these actresses do need to learn horse riding and swords swinging to do the action sequence but doing this and going gym to buff up are entirely different things. They are not prompted to built body or look masculine while most of these actresses can do naturally make some muscles.Look at wonder Woman,I don't think that I have seen a single women in this film except few extras in the back to have an inch of muscles on them despite the fact that they are warriors.i let this problem slide my critical Rader by implying that maybe they are divine or God blessed so they don't need muscles to show their strength but what about the other women warrior characters in media? Like just imagine if we make Timothy chalamet,a Viking, wouldn't it look ridiculous.just the same way I find this thin actresses in warriors roles absurd.see, that's why the thin or slender looking actors are generally beefed up for these types of roles otherwise it will look completely awful and foolish .I know that a woman can't buff up like a man but hey we still can built a decent, lithe body with abs and strong musclar thighs.and those who say we can't go and see all those wood cutting and factory working women during Wartimes.sadly,The problem is that women in show business are forced to look feminine, thin graceful even while fighting while there is no such thing for the men actors .i don't think we recognize this problem in main media. That's why I think such portrayals tarnish the image of real ancient warriors women. They weren't feminine or masculine, they were warriors just like their male counterparts.
anon, I don't want you to feel like I'm picking on you, but again, I think it's worthwhile to talk about what I see as some of the assumptions you're making here, because I think the image of a stereotypical 'buff bodybuilding viking warrior' that you're drawing on here is very much a modern(ish) invention with roots in 19th century romanticized views of the vikings--see Erik Gustav Geijer's 1811 poem The Viking, for example.
The thing is, the more you start looking into the actual sources, the more you begin to recognize these contemporary myths in media--which is not to say that these myths are stupid or without value; on the contrary, I think they offer a really fascinating window into modern culture! but let's look more closely at two specific assumptions I see here: vikings were successful warriors because they were especially huge and buff, and viking weapons were very heavy and impossible for a smaller woman (or man) to wield.
on the first assumption: let's look at an excerpt from The Annals of St. Bertin, covering 830-832 Frankia. with the usual caution that primary sources ought read carefully and not taken at face value, here's a description of viking warfare from the Annals (page 37):
The Northmen at this time fell on Frisia with their usual surprise attack. Coming upon our people unprepared on an island called Walcheren, they slaughtered many of them and plundered even more. They stayed on the island for a while, levying as much tribute as they wanted. Then they fell on Dorestad with the same fury and executed tribute in the same way. When the Emperor heard about these attacks, he postponed his planned journey to Rome and wasted no time in hurrying to the fort of Nijmegen close by Dorestad. When the Northmen heard of his arrival there, they withdrew immediately.
so these viking raids are successful because they are conducting surprise attacks on civilian populations. it's not because the franks are less buff. when confronted with the prospect of facing a professional army, the vikings run away! which is not to say that the vikings did not train or prepare for war or that they never engaged with professional armies, but they are effective because they spread terror and intimidation through this type of hit-and-run attack and selection of easy targets.
on the second assumption: how heavy were viking weapons? when you talk about axes, I get the feeling you mean big Danish axes. we see a lot of these in contemporary media about vikings, which is no surprise--they're impressive weapons! but axes come in different sizes. so do swords. Ian Peirce's Swords of the Vikings Age mentions a few weights--a particularly heavy specimen, C8095, weighs in at 3.25 pounds (page 42). again, you can imagine why weapons in shows about vikings look big and heavy--the purpose is to impress the audience and show how tough and strong the warriors are.
what I'm really getting at here is that it behooves us to be careful about the assumptions we make about the past. the point is not to say "this is wrong" (or "that's not historically accurate!", which is one of my absolute least favorite phrases). the point is to recognize where exactly these images in contemporary media come from and consider what they tell us about the culture that produces them.

This is how I hope Thor looks the next time we see him. I want that beard trimmed way back and a full-on tattooed Viking undercut with at least a little braiding. I’m not good enough at Norse knotwork to design the tattoo I’d really want him to have, though. I’d want it to incorporate animals to represent each member of his family. Raven for Odin, cat for Frigga, snake for Loki, and maybe even a wolf for Hela.
Also his scar should be horizontal, not vertical. *hard side-eye at IW/Endgame makeup artists*
As to his physique, I’d be down for a training montage of him getting back in shape (preferably with the help/hindrance of the Guardians), but he can stop at a point of having a healthy amount of padding, because visible 6-packs are unrealistic for the type of physical labor Thor does (he should look like a barrel-chested lumberjack, not a bodybuilder), they’re potentially dangerous for the actor, and they’re not great for the body image of men in the audience.
#thor#post-endgame thor#marvel#MCU#I drew a thing#I’m bad at Norse knotwork#it’s even harder than Celtic knotting#at least Celtic knotting is uniform and doesn’t have animals tangled in it#am I the only one who remembers Hela HORIZONTALLY slashing Thor’s eye out?

What I am passionate about
Image (Courtesy of WWE’s Twitter Page)
Now here is a something that I honestly have been wanting to talk about. Well for starters I am a wrestling fan, I have been a fan since I was 10 years old. There were times where I was like why do I even watch this and should I stop watching this. That hasn’t happened to me yet, yes I know how it works and I know what the in and outs are, I have enjoyed and you better give me a reason one day on to stop watching it.
Image (Courtesy of smoothiekingcenter.com)
So for me it all started on an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw on April 28, 2008 my dad said to me “you wanna go to this wrestling show in New Jersey with my friend and his son” and I was like “yeah why not.” At first I had no idea what was even going on, I was just a 10 year old kid clueless trying to figure it out what was even happening. Then after the that night it hit me and I enjoyed it, that was the most fun I had at that young of an age, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world at that time. It had stuck with me ever since, me and my dad still say this on how “imagine if we never went to that Monday Night Raw that day with my friend.”
Image (Courtesy of watchwrestling.uno)
Then it all clicked after that, I got my friends involved in it and they started liking it too. Of course we were all young kids at that time and I can’t believe that was a big part of our friendships. It was apart of my life and now it also was with my friends. I do not regret anything revolving around that. I went to a bunch of WWE live event shows in the summer of 2008 at Madison Square Garden, that night was literally so enjoyable I saw my first steel cage match and I liked it as well. Another show I went to was a WWE Friday Night Smackdown on January 2, 2009. You could not believe how excited I was, I was dressed up as one of my favorite wrestlers his name was Jeff Hardy and I thought I was the coolest kid ever. Being apart of something like that was crazy I still have the camera from that night in my room somewhere on how happy I was.
Image (Courtesy of IMDb)
I will take you back to arguably the best days of my life April 7, 2013. So WWE biggest promotional show is known as WrestleMania, starting back in 1985 at Madison Square Garden. Every year it gets bigger and better. According to Forbes, WWE’s WrestleMania is in the top 10 of most valuable sporting events. So back to 2013, WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium was something I have never witnessed before. A sea of 80,676 people united as one as we watched amazing performers take it to “The Grandest Stage Of Them All.” Names like The Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, The Rock and more. I have never been apart of something like that then never before. So many spectacular matches and so many big memorable moments that’ll never forget.
Image (My personal pictures)
As I witnessed three huge main events all in a row, starting The Undertaker vs. CM Punk. Going into that match was The Undertaker’s 20-0 WrestleMania Undefeated Streak was on the line. With a long feud revolving around how The Undertaker’s former manager Paul Bearer died and all through that build up was that CM Punk was mocking The Undertaker by hitting him with his urn that Paul Bearer had his “powers” in and also mocking Paul Bearer’s death. CM Punk said that “he was the 1 in 20-1.” Which is him saying that he will end The Streak. That was match of the night in my opinion without any doubt which was won by The Undertaker to extend his WrestleMania Undefeated Streak to 21-0. Next was a match that was between Triple H and Brock Lesnar. This was the second encountering between the two, this feud would start to build up when Brock Lesnar attacked Triple H’s father-in-law, the CEO of WWE Vince McMahon and then eventually Triple H’s friends. Eventually the match would be announced as a No Holds Barred match with a stipulation added after Triple H signed the contract. Which would be known that Triple H’s wrestling career was on the line. A big waste of match in my opinion there was no point to have a second match between the two, but Triple H would win the match with hitting his finisher “The Pedigree” onto steel steps.
Image (My personal pictures)
WrestleMania has had some of the biggest moments and names perform on that stage many times. Big time main events like at WrestleMania I with Hulk Hogan and Mr. T vs. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. Or like at WrestleMania III whereas they called it “the irresistible force meets the immovable object.” As Hulk Hogan took on Andre the Giant for the WWF Championship in front of 93, 173 people. Hogan picked Andre upped and body slammed him and the place went insane. WrestleMania VI in Toronto, Canada two of the biggest names in the company at that time Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior went one on one for in a Winner Take All Match. How bout WrestleMania XI in Anaheim, California where it was the first Iron Man Match between Bret “Hitman” Hart and Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship. Shawn Michaels would be the winner as the announcer would say ‘the boyhood dream has come true for Shawn Michaels.” Or even maybe two years later in Boston, Massachusetts for WrestleMania XIV between Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship. Or even at WrestleMania X8 where we saw the passing of the torch was in full force between The Rock and Hulk Hogan. Where that brought us to a Once in a Lifetime match between John Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII and putting that in the rematch of the century at WrestleMania 29. Or how we saw the ending of The Undertaker’s Undefeated Streak at WrestleMania XXX against Brock Lesnar. Even in that same show where we saw Daniel Bryan completed “The Underdog Story” where he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. What about WrestleMania 31 at Levi’s Stadium we saw big moment in a dream match 15 years in the making since WWE bought WCW in 2001. As Triple H took on WCW’s franchise “The Icon” Sting. The Undertaker made his return to WWE after losing his undefeated streak a year ago with a young Bray Wyatt where he proclaimed himself as “The New Face of Fear.” Later in the night for WrestleMania 31, the Money in the Bank winner Seth Rollins interrupted the main event making it a triple threat match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship calling it “The Heist of the Century” as Seth Rollins stole the title. Whereas the latest name to perform on that stage was the returning “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey she made her WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 and it did not disappoint.
Now time to go into something that is annoying, how they say those wrestlers aren’t real athletes well I hate to break it to you but they are. As you see from this their have been many wrestlers who are given athletes. The have every right to be named athletes given the fact that they wrestle every single day of the year with no breaks is actually incredible I really do not know how there bodies do it. They are such inspiring people and are like superheroes to young kids. This is truly something that I love with passion every single day.
Image (Courtesy of wwe.com)
WWE also does a lot of events in a year to year basis. WWE now has a streaming platform which will give you all WWE content on any platform on phones, tables, smart tv’s, gaming consoles and more. This is called WWE Network for paid subscribers it’s $9.99 USD, but they also give a 30-day free trial as well for new subscribers. An idea that was originally produced in 2012 but never was fully released until 2014. In 2014, WWE had their first live broadcast on the show, which was WrestleMania XXX, since then they have produced 88 live events with 17 more events confirmed. They have had multiple events all around the United States, and even in different countries like Canada, England, and just recently in Saudi Arabia. Currently in 2018, we have gone through 7 events. January’s show had (WWE NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia) and (Royal Rumble), February’s show had (Elimination Chamber), March’s show had (Fastlane), in April they had three events (WWE NXT TakeOver: New Orleans), (WrestleMania 34) and (The Greatest Royal Rumble). All great action between the 4 months, all big matches and big events.
With the launch of WWE Network they will hopefully do a global expansion to find talent in different countries outside of North America. Personally I am very excited about because they aren't in this country and I would like to see what they got as a wrestler or as WWE calls them “Sports Entertainers.” Last week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia WWE hosted tryouts to find talent from that country, they ended up with four guys and they were announced on at the event (The Greatest Royal Rumble) that event was a success for the country that WWE and Saudi Arabia will be making another appearance in November. Last year WWE did a tournament in the United Kingdom to crown the first ever WWE United Kingdom Champion. They had some money issues with the project before but is now doing a two-day event in June. As members of WWE’s NXT roster with WWE UK roster and other United Kingdom wrestlers will be in England for the event. By boosting this expansion they can literally make this a global company.
This has been apart of my life for so long and I honestly don’t ever see this passion for wrestling end ever. A lot of countries take pro wrestling as an actual sport. Japan has a lot of wrestling in their country and they take it serious and very different. I have no regrets and I love it. A lot of people say to me “you know its fake right” and I'm like yeah “but you think tv shows and movies are real” I don't like the negativity from it at all. So I'm very passionate about it and if someone had a problem with it, then thats their fault because they are missing out on some great to watch.

By Rafa Carvajal | Photos by George Quiroga. Courtesy of The Florida Renaissance Festival
The 26th Annual Florida Renaissance Festival is in full swing and a great time is being had by all who join in the festivities. Through March 25, you and your friends can travel back in time to the 16th Century with over 100 very talented performers ready to entertain you throughout your visit, tons of artisans selling their wares, a Kid's Kingdom, and plenty of entertainment and food and drynk fit for a king or queen. The Florida Renaissance Festival is a very popular, fun event for all ages. You can visit ren-fest.com to learn more about the thrilling mix of returning Festival favorites and the new acts and attractions for this year's gaieties.
Wire Magazine sat down with Entertainment Director Richard Weber, who is also the Lord Mayor of the Village and a proud member of the LGBTQ community, to learn more about this year's Festival.
Rafa Carvajal: What is your role with the Florida Renaissance Festival? Richard Weber: I've played the Lord Mayor of the Village for 18 years and I've been the entertainment director for 15 years.
RC: What new additions can we look forward to this year? RW: There is always a thrilling mix of returning favorites, plus new acts and attractions. Two wonderful variety acts and fan favorites who haven't been here in a couple of seasons, Broon and Kamikaze Fireflies, both return for the 2018 full season. New this year, we have a swimming mermaid exhibit provided by Blue Mermaid Designs, and a new pirate area called Tortuga Bay. In the Jousting Arena Forecourt we have a new aerial act, "Cirqa Brava," featuring gymnastic aerialists performing on flying silks supported by a 30' high rig. Also in this same area of the festival, we host "Lady Ophelia's Dance Party." Flirt the renaissance way by learning the latest country and court dances, and engaging with your fellow faire guests in dance. We are also very pleased to announce the engagement of a spectacular international musical group called Stary Olsa. These are six versatile musicians playing authentic renaissance instruments that have come from Belarus and have included the Florida Renaissance Festival as a part of their American tour schedule. We present musicians and unique variety artists with international reputations, and a marketplace community of artists unparalleled in skill and expression.
RC: Tell us about this year's themed weekends. Which is your favorite? RW: The themed upcoming weekends are: Wenches Weekend, March 3-4; International Weekend, March 10-11; Celtic, March 17-18; and Witches, Wizards & Magic, March 24-25. We also had these themes in previous weekends this year: Pirates, February 10-11; Time Traveler's – Steampunk, February 17-19; and Viking, February 24-25.
For each of the themed weekends, we hold a special event or contest to support the theme and give the audience something special that occurs only during that weekend. We feature different variety acts and musicians that present something special in support of the themes. We also partner with specialty acts and outside events to present unique entertainment. For example, to celebrate Time Traveler's Weekend, we partnered with Florida Supercon to host a futuristic fashion show and costume contest. For Viking Weekend, we presented our first-ever Beard and Moustache contest. Wenches Weekend is always a particularly fun time with our bodice and cleavage contest. It's just good-natured fun and a perpetual crowd favorite. Another fan favorite event occurs on our Celtic Weekend when we host our Men-in-Kilts and Highland Hunk contest. We always offer something for the ladies as well as something for the gentlemen.
We have two new themes for this season's festival. International Weekend, where we encourage our guests and participants both to dress in whatever cultural wardrobe best represents the international flavor of the renaissance, and Witches, Wizards & Magic Weekend, where we celebrate the fantasy world of fairies, spirits and Harry Potter. Every day there is something different and every festival day is magical.
RC: Tell us about the work that goes into producing the Florida Renaissance Festival. RW: Producing and preparing for the annual festival is a full-time, year-round endeavor. As soon as the show opens, we start planning the next season. There are permits and licensing agreements, legalities, cross-promotions, sponsorships and educational programs to update and develop. There are variety acts, musicians and actors to audition, negotiate, contract and train, scripts and music to be written, policies to establish and living history encampments to enhance and assist. There are outreach programs to oversee, conventions to attend and state and local committees to involve. Artists and fine craftsmen present products to jury into the show and meetings are held to discuss the balance of the event with regards to products and entertainments. Phone calls, emails and every form of communication from electronic to smoke signals and carrier pigeons are involved year round to create the immersive experience that is the modern Renaissance Festival.
RC: Describe the Florida Renaissance Festival in three words. RW: Unique, entertaining and memorable.
RC: What do you consider the most distinct qualities of Florida Renaissance Festival? RW:
I consider this entire industry a remarkable cultural phenomenon. Unlike most other forms of entertainment where there is a clear division between artist and audience, the modern Renaissance Festival breaks down these barriers and you get the opportunity to directly engage with living characters in an immersive environment. We now live in an age where few people feel comfortable speaking with strangers. The Renaissance Festival works very hard to create a safe, community oriented, village feel… a place where you can hold long involved conversations with individuals outside of your normal expectations and experience. This is a place where every person you encounter is seriously dedicated to your well being and happiness, a place where there are no strangers, only friends; a place where we see each guest as the amazing, wonderful, loving and miraculous individual we know they are. We create a playground where kindness is the norm, laughter is the currency and where every guest leaves with a sincere wish for their health and happiness. Our purpose is to create memories of loving wonderment that will last a lifetime. We take this intent as our guiding light.
RC: Why should Wire Magazine readers attend the Florida Renaissance Festival? RW: Short answer: Everyone should attend the Florida Renaissance Festival. Long answer: Alternate entertainments have a long tradition within the gay community. In a world where we have struggled long and hard for public acknowledgement, and the basic human dignity of being allowed to express ourselves and live truthful authentic lives, the Renaissance Festival phenomenon has always encouraged guests and patrons to dress up and live both the fantasy and the reality of our innermost spirits. For decades, festivals of this nature have always been a safe space to publicly express yourself. Sometimes it takes a historical perspective to remind modern audiences that the concept of family and community has less to do with those with whom we share blood, but rather it is better defined by those for whom we would give our blood. Within a renaissance festival village, we are less tribal and more inclusive than is generally experienced in other public forums.
RC: What are your top 3 favorite costumes that you've spotted at the Festival? RW: Oh lord, where to start? Top 3? Every lady who puts on her first corset and long skirt which transforms her image of herself and who finally sees herself as the most exotic woman in the world. Every person who comes dressed to the festival expressing some hidden aspect of their own personality. Every guest who decides to become someone different, playful and free.
Favorites? The fairies with 8-foot wingspans and amazing peripheral vision. The Klingons and Star Wars Stormtroopers who invade every Time Traveler's Weekend, generally with all 13 flavors of Doctor Who. The bodybuilder in his late 50's wearing a whisper of leather and a "come hither" smile, as proud in his display as a peacock. And every child, every princess, knight and wizard who still knows what it is to play and who insist that their parents remember to play as well.
RC: Where do you see the Festival in 5 years? RW: Bigger, grander and happier.
RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers?RW: My thanks, my wishes for your good fortune and my phone number for any of your readers into older guys who work in the arts.

Jason Momoa Goes Savage Mode on Steep Rock Climbing Wall
Instagram / prideofgypsies
Jason Momoa has carved out a niche roll for himself as Hollywood’s go-to guy when it comes to the physically imposing guy who resembles a viking. Part of it is his physical build, but another part is the fact that he actually has the skills and strength to match his body. Take a look for yourself:
A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Aug 15, 2017 at 1:31am PDT
This is not a one-time thing for Momoa, he shares his physical trumps on Instagram pretty often. And while his desire and display of upper-body strength was impressive, the man who got absurdly jacked to play Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League film seems to do just fine above water.
My lunch break. FINALLY 20 attempts at least. On the 45 with @soill slopers Sorry about the cussing. But I can't help it. I LOVE CLIMBiNG #dirtbagforlife #metallicahelpmesend #fuckyourchair. aloha j
A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Jun 8, 2017 at 4:35am PDT
The jacked actor was so excited to conquer the daunting task, he belted out a few choice words before running down the hall to celebrate his accomplishment. A euphoric moment for sure, and one that any guy could appreciate after crushing a difficult challenge.
The only real loser in the scenario was the chair, which found itself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't know when film/tv show creator will stop showing their Cowardness and will start showing ancient women warriors like shield maiden as they were meant to be seen that is big and muscled. Come on dude you can't think that a thin small fragile women can even lift an iron sword let alone an axe. Those women must have muscles on their body to fight and wield those weapons . Their portrayal in today's media by such slim, model type looking actresses just really tarnish their reputation. these tiny women look ridiculous and absurd on screen when they take down men twice or even thrice their size. It looks completely abnormal and unrealistic .creators force the male actors to do gymwork and steroids while they leave out the women .why can't they let even the actresses do some gym and bodybuilding when they cast them for such fighting roles .it will actually look more natural than looking like some divine entity who somehow get her power to fight ten hulking men despite having not an ounce of muscles on her body.God I don't know when I will witness a buff Viking women on screen 😞.
so, ok. there's some stuff to unpack here. I think the thing to keep in mind is that the shieldmaidens look like models because well...most of the actresses they cast across the board for this type of show--not just shieldmaidens, but female characters as a whole!--are models (or model-adjacent). vikings is especially bad at this, but vikings valhalla and tlk do this too. and some of these actresses are indeed pretty buff and athletic and would absolutely destroy me, no question--ragga ragnars and annabelle mandeng, for instance. but the actresses that are smaller/slimmer absolutely do get training and work out and such as well; I mean, they kind of have to in order to do any of these sequences in the first place. so I really don't think it's correct to say they don't go to the gym, do bodybuilding, etc.
but really, if we're talking about how "realistic" any of this is: if it's unrealistic for a woman to take down "ten hulking men" on her own, how realistic is it for a man to do that, regardless of how much he's been working out? it isn't! it's just a storytelling convention, it's a way to communicate how badass the hero/heroine is. you suspend your disbelief and it's not really worth getting worked up about, imo.
finally, yes: I'd also love to witness more buff viking women on screen.

Who’s the perfect general manager for every NFL team?
We matched all 32 teams with a new — real or fiction, human or dog — general manager.
Being a general manager in the NFL isn’t easy. They’re usually responsible for evaluating talent, managing free agency, the salary cap, and they catch a lot of heat when things go poorly. It’s not a job that just any person off the street can handle — or is it?
The qualifications to be a GM might not be as strict as you’d imagine. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in March that Washington was considering NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock as its next general manager. ESPN’s Louis Riddick was a candidate for the 49ers’ job before former NFL player John Lynch ultimately got the reins. In the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers recently hired Kobe Bryant’s agent, Rob Pelinka, as theirs.
So we decided to come up with a variety of people — some real, some fictional, some not even human — who could be the newest GMs in the NFL. Here are our picks for all 32 teams:
Arizona Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald would be an aggressive GM. He hasn’t gotten his coveted Lombardi Trophy, despite coming ever so close against the Steelers in 2009. Assuming he doesn’t win a title as a player, believe Fitzgerald would do everything in his power to win a ring as a GM.
Atlanta Falcons, Quavo
Quavo played some quarterback in high school, and has even shown off his pinpoint accuracy recently. GM Quavo would be calling teams asking “what’s the price?” while telling other teams calling “Get Right Witcha.” He’d even wear a T-shirt.

Baltimore Ravens, Ray Lewis
We don’t know what you’d get out of Lewis as your GM. One thing we do know, is that he’s going to hit you with a fiery, passionate speech. Hey, if the team gets thin at linebacker, he might even throw the pads back on.
Buffalo Bills, Donald Trump
If Trump had bought the franchise three years ago like he wanted, it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble.
Carolina Panthers, Petey Pablo
NORTH CAROLINAAAAAAA! How else would the Panthers “Raise Up”?
Chicago Bears, Kevin McCallister
If 8-year-old Kevin McCallister could torment a couple of bungling burglars all by himself back in 1990, just imagine what 35-year-old Kevin McCallister could do to stop the Bears from the mayhem they're creating in Chicago.
Cincinnati Bengals, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson
Johnson understands the game as a player and has the personality of an entertainer. He’d be able to make good personnel decisions and keep fans coming back for more. Plus, he could probably squeeze in some FIFA matches against fans at Paul Brown Stadium.
Cleveland Browns, LeBron James
Last week, LeBron James told the Cleveland media that he has nothing left to prove. Sure, he ended a 52-year championship drought in Cleveland, but there’s one thing he hasn’t done in his storied career: bring the Lombardi Trophy home to the city. James is arguably the greatest basketball player ever and he knows how to win. He also wants the Browns to be great, which is half the battle.
Dallas Cowboys, Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington is a Cowboys fan who has visited the team on numerous occasions.
Denzel Washington and his son JD have arrived at #CowboysCamp http://pic.twitter.com/Uep05j0e5a
— Dallas Cowboys (@dallascowboys) August 6, 2016
Denzel isn’t just a two-time Academy Award-winning actor. He’s also an acclaimed director who you could trust to take control of the roster from Jerry Jones. He could negotiate contracts with players in character as Alonzo from Training Day and he’d get results. As Alonzo says “You’ve got to be a wolf to catch a wolf.”
Denver Broncos, Chauncey Billups
Billups was one of the better point guards in the NBA during his career. He masterfully led the Pistons to a Larry O’Brien trophy, and played for his hometown Nuggets for a couple seasons. With his sharp and quick decision-making, the Denver native could, at the very least, figure out a solution to the Broncos’ quarterback situation.
Detroit Lions, Aretha Franklin
Finally, a way for the Lions to get some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Green Bay Packers, a random person from Green Bay
They already own the team, so why not make the GM a member of the community, too? Packers fans love their team, and you’d better believe that if given the reins, they’d find a way to be successful. Of course, a lot of the decisions would also probably be crowdsourced.
Houston Texans, Bill Belichick
The Texans are basically the JV version of the Patriots. Their coaching staff is largely built on former members of the Patriots, but they can't measure up to them on the field. The best way to fix that? Put the guy behind all of the Patriots' moves in charge of the Texans' front office. Bill Belichick is someone who would probably rather die than retire, so this way, he can scale back his responsibilities while also working closely with coaching disciple Bill O’Brien. It's a solution that works for everyone (except the Patriots).
Indianapolis Colts, The orangutan
The Colts finally fired Ryan Grigson this year, and they had a productive offseason and a solid draft. It’s pretty clear letting the orangutan from the zoo make three of those picks was a stroke of brilliance. Just let him run the whole dang team. As an added bonus it will really piss off Mike Mayock.
Jacksonville Jaguars, Theo Epstein
Epstein successfully ended the two longest championship droughts in baseball with the Red Sox and Cubs. Seeing him control an NFL franchise, one that has been particularly awful like the Jags, would be fun to watch.
Kansas City Chiefs, Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd loves the Chiefs. He’d do anything for them, including dressing up as Santa to greet the team after a late-season win over the Browns. That’s why he’s the ideal choice for Kansas City’s new GM. Not only that, but during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Podcast, Rudd showed that he has the depth of knowledge to do the job well. And he never ages, so he could be in charge for a long, long time.
Los Angeles Chargers, Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold’s done so much with his life. Greatest bodybuilder of all time? Check. Two-term governor of California? Double check. Starring as the Terminator in the original and three sequels? Quadruple check. Mostly, it would be wonderful to watch him end every press conference with “Go Chargers, Go!”
Los Angeles Rams, Eric Dickerson
The man reached folk hero status when he called out the terrible effort from Jeff Fisher’s team. That’s more vision than the Rams have had in years.
Miami Dolphins, Pitbull
All Pitbull does is make hits. I mean, who better to call the shots for the Dolphins than Mr. 305 himself? Give him the keys to a franchise that hasn’t been to the Super Bowl since the 1984 season, when Pitbull was 3 years old, and watch the Fins thrive.
Minnesota Vikings, Morris Day
If Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater can’t stay healthy in Minnesota, Day can always call 777-9311 to negotiate a trade for a new quarterback. Every time the Vikings win a game next, you can expect Day to perform The Bird. A football game and a dance routine under the same roof? Sundays in Minnesota will never be the same.
New England Patriots, Mark Wahlberg
If anyone epitomizes Patriots fandom, it’s Mark Wahlberg, one of Boston’s most famous native sons. Wahlberg also has some football experience, technically, from playing Vince Papale in the movie Invincible. Sure, it may seem like a stretch for the former frontman of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch to become a general manager, but we all know Bill Belichick is going to run that team, anyway, so it doesn’t matter.
New Orleans Saints, King Cake Baby
Right now, Mickey Loomis is pulling double duty as the Saints’ GM and the head of basketball operations for the Pelicans. That’s a lot, so it’s time for the Saints to turn to the Pelicans’ seasonal Mardi Gras mascot, King Cake Baby, to take the reins. King Cake Baby is terrifying, but he has a tendency to win people over, which is a key skill for a general manager.
New York Giants, Jay Z
Jay Z practically has the keys to New York, and the Giants need him. He could create a blueprint, and make moves that would lead to another Giants Super Bowl appearance before the youngest Manning has to hang it up. He is a successful businessman, after all. He could make those final adjustments for Big Blue.
New York Jets, LaVar Ball
Believe it or not, he briefly played for the Jets at one point. Since then, he's been attempting to build a basketball empire. With his three sons Lonzo, LaMelo, and LiAngelo, he's gained national attention for Big Baller Brand. The Jets need a GM who is willing to take risks, and aim bigger than ever before. LaVar is not afraid to do that.
Oakland Raiders, Ice Cube
He had a successful career behind the mic as a rapper. He’s had a successful career acting. Clearly he’s capable at succeeding in whatever he does at a high level, so promote Reggie McKenzie and pass the sticks to Cube.
Philadelphia Eagles, Allen Iverson
He’s a city staple and a new member of the NBA Hall of Fame. Plus he’s the best interview. Even if he didn’t demand players give their all during the week, they’d at least be expected to be game-ready come Sunday. “We're talking about practice!”
Pittsburgh Steelers, James Harrison
James Harrison the GM could make any deal happen. Why? Because he could bully other teams into doing whatever he wanted, of course. He’s that strong.
A post shared by James Harrison (@jhharrison92) on May 1, 2017 at 7:23am PDT
San Francisco 49ers, Bob Myers
Bob Myers did one heck of a job turning the Golden State Warriors into an NBA superpower. They hit on draft picks like Steph Curry, who turned into a two-time NBA MVP. They also drafted Klay Thompson, who has turned into one of the best shooters of all time, as well as second-round steal Draymond Green. Not to mention, they signed a guy named Kevin Durant this past offseason. A similar level of success would likely be impossible for an NFL franchise. If there’s a list of guys who could pull it off, it’s Myers.
Seattle Seahawks, Air Bud
Twenty years ago, Air Bud found a home in Washington state with a young boy in need of a friend. Not only was Air Bud a trustworthy confidant with a magnificent golden mane, he was an athletic marvel who won a basketball championship — and the hearts of America. He went on to wow us with his football skills in Air Bud: Golden Receiver, and even made his way on the Seattle Seahawks’ field, where he caught a touchdown pass from Warren Moon:
Walt Disney Pictures
Good dog
The Seahawks are doing fine for themselves, but if we've learned one thing from the immortal (AIR BUD CAN NEVER DIE) dog's many sequels, it's that Air Bud can make any team, in any sport, better.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kairi Hojo
OK, so we can all agree the Bucs need an actual pirate running this ship. But rather than a cliche option like Jack Sparrow or Blackbeard, let’s go into the world of Japanese women’s wrestling and pick the Pirate Princess herself, Kairi Hojo.
Besides being wise in all the pirating ways, Hojo also has the cutthroat tactics needed to succeed at GM. All she has to do is threaten to drop the world’s sickest elbow if teams balk at her trade offers. Would someone like that draft a kicker in the second round? Didn’t think so.
Also, Hojo is expected to join NXT in Orlando soon, so it’s a short commute to the Bucs’ headquarters. Win-win, in my opinion.
Tennessee Titans, Victoria Principal
Does the one-time Pamela Ewing (ask your mother) even like football? No idea. Has she ever been to Tennessee? Beats me. But she knows how to run a business, thanks to her successful skin care line that has netted her, apparently, $200 million. Plus, the last thing she ever acted in was the short-lived nighttime soap Titans. Kismet!
Washington, Jacqueline White
Putting Kimmy Schmidt’s former boss in charge of the team is the easiest way to get them to change their nickname.
