I watched one Vil’s vignettes “what it means to be a brand” and THERE ARE A FEW COMMENTS POINTED OUT THAT CATER SUPPOSEDLY SAID THAT HE WANTED TO DATE VIL?? WHERE??

Oh, this is something that was in the original Japanese text for Vil’s School Uniform vignette but got scrubbed away in the English localization! Version differences, I guess you’d call it.

In EN, Cater is complimenting Vil’s long lashes and then goes, “Is this even real? Am I dreaming?” (Note the winking animation during this line!)

In JP, Cater still compliments Vil’s lashes. However, then Cater says something to the effect of, “For a moment there, I kinda got the urge to ask you out 🎵”

Vil responds in EN: “Yes, yes. You should feel lucky there is no price for dreaming of me.”

In JP, Vil says, “Yes, yes. [Dating me] is costlier than the price of one photo, so you’d best prepare yourself.”

Cater replies, “Don’t I know it.” in EN. In JP, he says, “Don’t I know it./Oh, I see.” too, but also adds, “I bet you need tons of time and money to prep even a single gift if you date Vil-kun.”

Finally, Vil says, “And since you could never hope to afford taking a photograph with me, stop with your jokes and take your seat.” In JP, he says, “If you’re not prepared for that, then don’t be silly and take your seat.”

So technically, Cater did tease that he wanted to ask Vil out in the JP version. Because of this scene, some fans will ship the two or headcanon Cater as bisexual. (Cater has a handful of scenes that could be interpreted as “bi”; this is just one of them.)

If you want my personal thoughts on the matter, I don’t think Cater was being entirely honest here; it feels like he was being cheeky or trying to butter Vil up so he could get a pic with him for free (when normally Vil charges tons of money for it). The flattery is a means for getting more clout off of Vil’s fame, which Vil sees right through. This is why Vil entertains Cater and plays along, only to shut him down in the end.

This isn’t the only case of Twst EN censoring Cater, by the way! Off the top of my head, I also recall this happening with Cater’s Ceremonial Robes vignettes. Many instances of Cater calling others “cute” were also removed. For Cater’s Platinum Jacket vignettes, the original JP text has Ruggie commenting that Cater was probably some little girl’s first crush and that Cater is a heartbreaker. In EN, Ruggie’s dialogue is changed to “Then again, maybe she really was starstruck by you. Kids are quick to cling to anyone they think is cool at that age.”

There may be even more instances that aren’t automatically coming to mind. Poor Cay-Cay… 🙂‍↕️

Gonna make it a thing where I try and draw attention to LGBT+ artist from all over LatAm every now and then cause I'm bi, trans, Latine, and I love sharing music with people cause it genuinely can and does do so much for us.

This time around I think a lot of you would like getting familiar with Urias, she's a Brazilian rapper and singer who wants to make a mark for the trans girls of the world. This single is a song for unapologetic trans existence and pride from 2019 called Diaba (or "she-devil" in English).

She's always pulling out interesting concepts with a constant stream of experimental electronic sound and eye catching visuals. She actually released a new album about five months ago thats mostly based in Dance genres with accompanying visualizers and dance videos (the videos for these are also pretty eye straining or also prone to flashing images and light), along with another album called FURIA in 2022 that is also worth a listen.
