Someone totaled my car today and I do not like being in insurance limbo

#i did all the stuff i was supposed to but im gonna call my insurance again tonorrow just to double check #i had a green light and someone left turned into me like super late #like idk how they thought they could make that turn #but my airbags all went off and my hood was a mess so i think my car is fully toast #siiiigh #:(#i dont want to have to buy a new car......#i just moved out too so dealing with this + rent + living expenses is not ideal #i wish ppl knew how to fucking drive and i still had my car.#im trying to be zen and cool about this and just go well getting mad wont solve the problem but like #if people paid attention while they were driving then i wouldnt be out a car having to use a sick day tomorrow #and i wouldnt have to probably spend more than what i get from insurance on whatever my new car will cost #and i wouldnt be having to deal with insurance and getting rides places and hopefully getting a rental car #so maybe i can be a little mad for a while and get upset for myself for once #i just roll over and accept everything all the time and while intentional apathy has gotten me this far #maybe i shouldnt cling to it forever

Day two of rapidly pounding down two to three cups of coffee in one sitting like a fucking maniac:

I did my dishes, disinfected and de-scaled my kitchen sink, swept the floors, rearranged the ingredients I have out on the counter, wiped down my microwave, the stove, and the countertops with vinegar water.

#I am slowly turning into Captain Janeway #Actually ADHD #The coffee was still watery so I need to put more grounds in for the taste but I feel the level of caffeine is good for me #Maybe I should buy a bag of Turkish coffee from the Arab-owned café because holy shit it’s amazing #But not now I need to get groceries and then not spend anything for the next two weeks #Except to purchase a rolling island for my kitchen on Marketplace which is allowed because it’s cash money not bank money #Bank money pays the rent and utilities and needs to be conserved.#Cash money is for local purchases that cannot be paid electronically so it doesn’t count if I spend it #because it‘s not used for the same things #I’m still frugal with it but it is infinitely less stressful to spend it because I view it as “extra”#And it sounds like I’m being careless but actually I’m being extra careful because if I buy something electronically #I assume I have less money than I do because I don’t count the cash money with the bank money #If I don’t have enough to buy something with my debit card I wait it out and don’t put my cash money in the bank to cover it #However if I earn 150 dollars pet sitting I may decide to put 100 dollars in savings and use the 50 as cash money #but once I make that decision there is no going back #The same works in reverse: I never withdraw bank money to turn it into cash money #And the rule is if I put money into savings it shall absolutely positively not come back out again until I need it for a goal #like a down payment on a house or something… which is a LONG way off #Although I may pull from it to fund my adaptation in the near future… still deciding #Wow I did not mean to talk about finances ahsbsjdndnsks #But yeah I’m really good with money so if anyone needs budgeting/penny pinching tips please do hit me up #Don’t ask me about investing or cash back though… I don’t understand them #and if I don’t understand something I won’t use it

There's no reason not to tip at a restaurant in the United States of America unless you are either A) a confused foreigner who has no idea that if you don't tip, your waitstaff WON'T GET PAID FOR THEIR WORK or B) a selfish asshole.

If you can afford the luxury of going out to eat, your budget for that expense best include a tip. If you don't wanna pay a tip, go get fast food. Buy food at a convenience store. Cook for yourself. Whatever. Loads of other options that are more cost-efficient for consumers than going out to eat anyway. If you are demanding food that is SERVED to you hot then you best be prepared to PAY FOR THE SERVICE YOU ARE DEMANDING.

The tipping system is fucked up in the way that workers' income relies on the politeness and generosity of random members of the public, and that it's completely legal for them to be stiffed out of their regular earnings by cheap assholes. I wish I didn't have to personally do my part in making sure my waiter can make rent at the end of the month. I wish they just got compensated regularly for their work like any other job! But they don't, and everybody knows that, and I still sometimes go out to restaurants and order food, so while that is a reality and I am contributing to that system I will make sure to compensate the servers for their work as I am reasonably expected to do.

it's the night before payday, otherwise known as The Evening Of Spending-Related Soul Searching, where I spend at least an hour contemplating how much needs to go into my college savings fund and how much I can allow myself for spending money and what in particular to spend money on during this payperiod and what things I'm going to have to give up/wait till next payperiod to buy bc I want other things more.

#we have these absolutely adorable dinosaur plushies at my workplace rn but they're a seasonal item and once they're gone we don't get more #there are three different herbivorous species and they're each a different colour and they're *so* soft and cuddly and I love them #and we had them last season and I waited too late and while I got two of the three colours I accidentally missed out on the third colour #so I was overjoyed when they came back this season! but I've been waiting till it looks like they're selling down before I get mine #just bc there are other things I also need to spend money on and some are a little more pertinent/important than buying myself yet another #stuffed animal lol #buuuut I *had* planned to get one this payperiod... and then I found another thing that I'd like to get #(a real steal of a find on mercari that's exactly the thing I need for a cosplay I want to finish before starting college)#and I had sorta agreed with myself that if it's still available when I get paid I'll buy it #but NOW there's ANOTHER thing that I've been wanting for a long time possibly becoming available next week #and I really want to get that while I have a chance #and so now I'm stuck trying to decide which things to prioritize and which ones to wait on. *sigh* :')#gurt says stuff

#wow #this is so sad #i remember in primary school we had a lot of national geographic magazines in the library #and my friend and i went at least once a week (some weeks even every day) to look at them and take notes so we could play scientists with a #actual scientific base #we always said my friend would become a biologist and i would become an archaeologist so we could make our own national geographics #i did end up becoming an archaeologist #i never changed my mind ever since then when i was 8 years old until i graduated uni with the highest grade of the archaeology promotion #and an important part of that comes from having seen the national geographics in school!#it's sad... it has inspired so many generations #but guess it's all about money. that's why the nat geo tv channel airs those bs pseudoscience ancient aliens kind of shows #using their good name and the reputation as a valid source for outreach they have to further anti-science beliefs just for money #that was already such a betrayal #this is where lots of journalism is heading though since now we don't buy the newspapers and magazines any more and expect them to be free #but still have workers to make it who need to get paid

Literally asking to see if i can justify a purchase for myself LOL. For the sake of this poll you can exclude any small day to day purchases like a coffee with a friend. Im talking stuff like.. supplies for a hobby, room decorations, special clothes/shoes, video game or console, booze, etc

Imagine you're a cashier, the only one with early morning availability so you're there at 5:45am for the 6am start. It's always the worst kinds of contractors there: rude, tired, dirty, leering gazes and sexist comments

You're pretty sick of it, but you get paid a bit more than minimum wage and you're done by 11am so, you take it with a cheery smile and fast service

The 141 contracting company starts spending at your store. So much, in fact, that your manager personally takes you aside to mention just how much they do - nearly a million a year - and how no matter what, your job is to be nice and please them

Well, you can do that. You've dealt with crazy, awful old contractors screaming in your face about lumber prices at 6:30am more than once, heard them talking about your tit's or your ass right in front of you - you can handle it

Until the masked one comes in first and hes huge, dark hoodie and cargo pants hanging low on his hips. He hands you 3k in bills only there are bloodstains on them and he watches you closely the whole time you count them out

It's... not a first, but the look he gives you makes you shiver. Pale eyelashes, tall, intimidating

The second is nicer. Too nice, in fact. He charms you before you're even fully awake, and your shift goes by quickly thinking about that winning smile and the way he'd touched your fingers while he handed you a stack of bills... not to mention those soft brown eyes

The third is... intense, for 8am. He rolls on the balls of his feet, stares at you harder than the masked one. He offers to buy you a hot chocolate at the coffee shop next door and grins like you made a joke when you decline

Their boss is fucking dreamy. Even you have to admit it, trying not to look up at his mustached, frankly porno-esque face. He's huge, as tall as the others but thick, with a little pudge around his belly. He trudges in with thick workboots and a stained t shirt, pays for 24k worth of material with a lazy smile on his face like it's nothing

You might ask head cash to move you to the garden center after all...
