The Olympic Sports I Think Nancy Drew Characters Would Play Based on Vibes
Ned: swimming. Oh man he has big swimmer energy. I will not elaborate. Daryl does too.
Kiri: rugby. In fact she was on the women’s NZ rugby team that just won gold. If you didn’t see her you weren’t watching hard enough not my problem
Jane Penvellyn (in a few years): DRESSAGE. Oh my god. All the Penvellyns are dressage. It’s a linage of dressage. That whole family is so dressage coded. Except for Alan, he did modern pentathlon.
Katie AND Jenna: they both do canoe and kayak slaloms and they are big rivals and lovers. Also Holt does sailing.
Tex: I know you think I’m going to say an equestrian sport but that’s WRONG he does shooting. Try to tell me that man has ever missed a rifle shot I dare you! (Ollie has though lol)
Mary: you may think I’m going to say an equestrian sport and you are RIGHT. She does cross country with her horsie :)
Isis: she is a wolf so unfortunately she can’t compete. But long jump.
Connie: Judo duh
Pua: surfing duh
Hulk: he’s actually not in the Olympics. They have rules against steroids sorry Hulk
Rick Arlen: he’s not in the Olympics either but he bought beach volleyball tickets and the cameras keep cutting to him in the stands before going to commercial
Jacques: he’s not in this Olympics. Check back in two years
Yanni: him too. You know if I had a nickel for each time a Nancy Drew game had an asshole Olympic skier as a character…
Jim Archer: fencing. He wins gold. I know you think I’m joking but look up the president of the IOC who won gold in fencing like fifty years ago and you will see that they are the same man.
Frank: mountain biking. He just gives me that vibe and this is based on vibes so there you go.
George: heptathlon!! She’s ripped and also good at cardio!
Henrik: he was a pole vaulter in the 60s. Look at how tall and skinny he is. If this was real life they’d be calling it the Van der Hune flop not the Fosbury flop.
Harlan: wrestling. Search your heart, you know it to be true!
Minette: she switched martial arts to Judo but she loses her first match and gets kicked out of the tournament because she announces every move she’s about to do.
Niko Jovic: unfortunately he is dead so he’s not gonna be participating.
Brenda Carlton: rhythmic gymnastics. The US does not perform well in that sport and she’s going to do nothing to change it.
Helena: triathlon. Imagine it. She can swim and bike and run, I’m sure of it.
Niobe: did you know that up until the 1940s they had art categories in the Olympics? Unfortunately that was like 80 years ago so sorry Niobe it isn’t happening for you.
Elka: she seems short. Gymnastics. She’s not coming anywhere near team USA though.
Anja: oh my god shot put. The lady is made to be a shot putter.
Leela: actually she’s not going to the Olympics because she spends all her time playing air hockey instead of training. Bummer. Kim and Rachel are synchro divers though.

Brazil discovers Pan American gold in the ring and on the beach.
Brazil discovers Pan American gold in the ring and on the beach. As the first week of competition in cold Santiago came to a conclusion on Friday, the United States gold rush also ended, and Brazilians punched and spiked their way to Pan American Games gold. Beach volleyball is regarded as a national sport in Brazil, where the top-ranked men's and women's teams, Andre Stein and George Souto, and Patricia Ramos and Duda Lisboa, respectively, returned home with both titles after putting on impressive performances beneath the cloud-covered Andes mountains. Brazilian boxers, led by twice-world champion and Olympic silver medallist Beatriz Ferreira, were amassing 12 medals, including four gold, on the opposite side of the capital of Chile. Prior to losing to the United States two weeks earlier, Ramos and Lisboa were world champions in 2022. They were once again victorious, defeating Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada 2-0. In women's beach volleyball, the silver was Canada's first medal at a Pan American Games. The two teams, who included world winners, played at the high caliber anticipated in a close final (22–20, 22–18). After needing three sets to defeat Jorge Alayo and Noslen Diaz of Cuba, Andre Loyola and George Souto had to put in a little more time and effort into the chilly evening in order to clinch the golden double. Beach volleyball players Marco and Esteban Grimalt, two of Chile's most well-known athletes, were unable to hold onto the gold medal they won in Lima four years prior, but the cousins triumphed 2-1 over American players Logan Webber and Hagen Smith to win a bronze medal that thrilled the boisterous crowd waving flags. Olympic tickets were punched and thirteen gold medals were awarded on a hectic day in the boxing arena. With every fighter in the finals having guaranteed a quota position for the Olympics in Paris, winning a silver medal came with an added benefit. The first Brazilian woman to win gold was Ferreira, who defeated Colombia's Angie Paola Valdes Pana 5-0 to win the women's 60 kilogram title. On the other hand, the top three finishers were Jucielen Romeu (57 kg), Barbara Maria Dos Santos (66 kg), and Caroline Barbosa (50 kg). Cuba, a boxing powerhouse, only managed two gold medals; double Olympic champion Julio Cesar La Cruz won the men's 92kg final, while Arlen Lopez Cardona won the 80kg weight class. Both the US and Canada had two champions: Joshua Edwards of the US won the super heavyweight (+92 kg) title, while Jahmal Harvey of Canada won the 57 kg title. In the 75-kilogram women's division, Tammara Thibeault of Canada won 5-0 to add Pan American gold to her world and Commonwealth Games wins. The winner was Atheyna Bylon of Panama. Wyatt Sanford triumphed for Canada as well, winning gold in the 63.5 kg weight division. "Out of all the tournaments I've been to, I've been able to capture gold and I was missing Pan Ams," Thibeault stated. "Now missing the Olympics, but hopefully we're on the right path and that's what we're going to get." Emiliano Hernandez and Duilio Carrillo won the men's relay to help Mexico maintain their dominance in the modern pentathlon, taking home all five gold medals available in Chile. With 35 gold and 80 overall medals, such contribution helped propel Mexico into second position on the medal tally. The United States led the field with 61 gold and 152 total after amassing 59 gold in the first five days of competition. Despite this, they have only added two more gold since then. POC election taking shape
#PHnews: POC election taking shape
MANILA – The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) election picture has now become clearer as the two groups looking to sweep all the electoral seats are now unveiling themselves.
Incumbent president Bambol Tolentino of Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines was the first to announce his partial slate during Tuesday's Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum, naming Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio as his first vice president and Philippine Fencing Association and Philippine Modern Pentathlon Association president Richard Gomez as his second vice president.
The concurrent congressman of the 7th District of Cavite then completed his ticket on Saturday, naming Triathlon Association of the Philippines president Tom Carrasco as his candidate for chairman, Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carreon-Norton as his treasurer, and Philippine Basketball Association legend Chito Loyzaga, representing the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, as the auditor.
The board members in Tolentino's ticket are Muaythai Association of the Philippines secretary general Pearl Managuelod, Philippine Judo Federation president Dave Carter, renowned sports doctor George Canlas, the head of the United Philippine Surfing Association, and fellow congressman Prospero Pichay of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, World Archery Philippines president Clint Aranas, Tolentino's opponent for POC top post, recently unveiled his own partial ticket for the election as well.
Aranas will have Philippine Handball Federation president Steve Hontiveros as his chairman, Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association president Philip Juico as first vice president, and Philippine Rugby Football Union secretary general Ada Milby as second vice president.
Aranas will reveal the rest of his slate at a later date.
Both Tolentino and Hontiveros are seeking fresh four-year terms as president and chairman, respectively.
On the other hand, Milby initially expressed her desire to challenge Gomez for second vice president as an independent candidate, but on why Aranas adopted her to his ticket, he explained, "Pareho kami ng punto (We have the same points): accountability and transparency."
Aranas also revealed that he is also adopting Managuelod as one of his board members despite being officially part of Tolentino's team, making her among the favorites to secure a seat in the POC board.
Ahead of the Nov. 27 election, aspirants can now begin filing their certificates of candidacy on Oct. 1. (PNA)

Football is coming home? Greenwich Park will welcome the Euro 2020 fan zone
Greenwich Park could host a "family-friendly" supporter zone Euro 2020 next year as part of London's joint organization of the European International Football Tournament. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.
Part of the park could be closed in June and July as part of the plans, the first major event to be held since the 2012 Olympics.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the championships, the tournament will be held for the first time in Europe. Wembley Stadium will host the semi-finals and final, as well as group matches.
Fan zones have been part of major football tournaments since the great success of the World Cup in Germany in 2006. However, although these fan zones are freely accessible, it seems that fans would need tickets for at least some games in the Greenwich Park fan zone.
The road through the park will be closed and roads will probably be closed around downtown Greenwich on the busiest days, according to the Greater London Authority, which plans the fan zone.
Much of the park was closed during the summer of 2012 for the equestrian and modern Olympic and Paralympic Pentathlon events, a test event that took place the year before.
Neighbors living near the park led a highly publicized campaign against the arrival of the Games, including the construction of a stadium on the field next to the National Marine Museum, where the fan zone will be held.
While fears of permanent damage to the park proved unfounded, downtown Greenwich traders reported a drop in activity, with non-Olympic visitors staying away and spectators away from the shopping streets.
Consultation sessions on the plan will be held at the Forum, Trafalgar Road, SE10 9EQ from 2 to 9 pm on Tuesday, July 23 and from 11 am to 4 pm on Wednesday, July 31.
A spokesman for the Mayor of London said: "Londoners, football fans and visitors to the capital expect an incredible experience at Euro 2020 - and the mayor will do everything in his power so that this competition remains engraved in the memories.
"In order for fans to come together to enjoy this unique sporting event in a family environment, the mayor and agencies are currently working with the local community to see if it would be viable to create a fan zone in Greenwich Park.
"A number of consultation events will be held with local residents to discuss proposals for organizing a fan zone in Greenwich. If these proposals move forward, local residents will have priority access and measures will be put in place to minimize disruption. " A planning request could be submitted later this summer.

Home of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Stratford has undergone a period of rapid transformation during the past five years as a place to live, play and now work. In the run up to the five year anniversary, we take a look at how much the area has changed to become one of London’s most vibrant and forward thinking business and cultural hubs.
Connections and world-class facilities
Located at the heart of East London, Stratford has always played a significant role in the capital’s economic development dating back to its industrial roots as a transport hub. Fast forward to 2017 and it is now one of the capital’s best-connected areas attracting thousands of start-ups, tech giants and major businesses and organisations in the pursuit of innovation.
A new business district for London
With 4 million square feet of future ready workspace currently under development at International Quarter London (IQL) and the former Olympic Press and Broadcast Centre now transformed into Here East a digital and creative hub consisting of business, tech, media, education and data companies - Stratford has fast become London’s new home for progressive businesses. Adding to the exciting mix of businesses, IQL is set to welcome 3,000 Transport for London (TfL) employees in September this year and 3,500 FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) staff in April 2018 to its growing community.

The home of active lifestyles
It’s not just businesses that are enjoying the post-Olympic regeneration of Stratford. From sporting activities to outdoor spaces; retail therapy to delicious cuisines; and cultural offerings to education; Stratford continues to excel itself.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is free to visit every day of the week and is home to the London Stadium, the Copper Box Arena, the London Aquatics centre, Lee Valley Velo Park, Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre, the Arcelor Mittel Orbit and various parklands, waterways, playgrounds and cafés.
The London Stadium itself hosts a plethora of world-class sporting events, such as the Muller Anniversary Games, and is also the new home of West Ham United and British Athletics. The Copper Box Arena, home to handball, modern pentathlon, fencing and goalball during the 2012 Games, is now an indoor sports venue and state-of-the-art gym. Olympic Modern Pentathlon Overview
Modern pentathlon is a sports contest created especially for the Summer Olympic Games by the founder of the modern Games, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and was first contested in 1912. Coubertin was inspired by the pentathlon event in Ancient Olympic Games, which was modeled after the skills of the ideal soldier at the time. The modern pentathlon simulates the experience of a 19th century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines: he/she must ride an unfamiliar horse, fight with pistol and sword, swim, and run. Therefore, the modern pentathlon event comprises the five sport disciplines:
o Epee fencing
o Pistol shooting
o 200 meter freestyle swimming
o Show jumping on horseback
o 3 km cross country running

Introduction to Olympic Modern Pentathlon
The modern pentathlon is a sports contest that includes five events: pistol shooting, epee fencing, 200 m freestyle swimming, show jumping, and a 3 km cross country run. The sport is governed by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), the International Modern Pentathlon Union.
The modern pentathlon was invented by the Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games. The name derives from the Greek penta "five" and athlon "contest". The addition of modern to the name distinguished it from the original pentathlon of the ancient Olympic Games, which consisted of the stadion foot race, wrestling, long jump, javelin, and discus. As the events of the ancient pentathlon were modeled after the skills of the ideal soldier of that time, Coubertin created the contest to simulate the experience of a 19th century cavalry soldier behind enemy lines: he must ride an unfamiliar horse, fight with pistol and sword, swim, and run.
The event was first held at the 1912 Olympic Games, and was won by Swedish athlete Gosta Lilliehook. The modern pentathlon has been on the Olympic program continuously since 1912. A team event was added to the Olympic Games in 1952 and discontinued in 1992. An event for women was added in 2000. In non Olympic years, a World Championship is held, beginning in 1949.
Originally the competition took place over four or five days; however in 1996 a one day format was adopted in an effort to be more audience friendly. In spite of the event's strong pedigree in the modern Olympics, and its status as the only event created specifically for the modern Olympic Games, its lack of widespread popularity outside Eastern Europe has led to calls for its removal from the Olympic Games in recent years; however, a vote by the IOC on July 8, 2005, keeps it in the Olympic program at least until 2012. Sold Out Olympic Tickets is a point which is offering Olympic Modern Pentathlon Tickets on very reasonable rates.

Lithuanian star Laura Asadauskaite absolutely concurred. The London 2012 gold medalist booked her place in the field for Tokyo 2020 subsequent to beating Rio 2016 silver award champ Elodie Clouvel to the ladies' reality title on Friday; and she can't hold back to come back to the Japanese capital. Asadauskaite told the UIPM. "I had a generally excellent fence, a great ride, and swim and furthermore a decent laser run. I'm extremely cheerful on the grounds that I have the capability for the Olympic Games. See you one year from now when I will return here – l like this city without a doubt. I think I am prepared for the Olympic Games."
Notwithstanding barely passing up an arrival pass to Tokyo, silver medalist Clove stayed perky. "The association has been generally excellent and the complex is astonishing, and I am (still) sure about returning for the Olympic Games," the 30-year-old French competitor told the UIPM.
In the men's occasion, Joseph Choong of Great Britain outsprinted Germany's Marvin Dogue on Saturday in a rehash of the last laser keep running of the customary World Cup season.
One of the numerous mindful contacts added to the complex by the coordinators were representations of Baron Pierre de Coubertin either side of the primary hop on the riding course. The dad of the advanced Olympic Games was likewise the organizer of current pentathlon, first acquainting the game with the more extensive open at the Stockholm 1912 Olympic Games.
The pentathlon occasions at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will happen more than three days in the city suburb of Chofu, around 25km toward the west of the downtown area of Tokyo. Olympic Hockey: WHO'S QUALIFIED, SCHEDULE, PREVIEW AND EVERYTHING ELSE
Here's everything you need to know about hockey at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games: Schedule, preview, qualifiers, and who to watch. Olympics Hockey followers can book Olympic Hockey Tickets from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on discounted prices.
Time is ticking down to Tokyo 2020 and field hockey fans have plenty to be excited about. The biggest event on the calendar puts hockey center stage at the greatest sporting event there is and 12 men's and 12 women's teams will battle it out for gold and glory at the Oi Seaside Park in Tokyo.
Olympic Hockey Qualification
So who's qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics?
Men:
Japan (Hosts, 2018 Asian Games champions)
Argentina (2019 Pan-American Games champions)
South Africa (2019 African Olympic Qualifiers)
Belgium (2019 Euro Hockey Championship winners)
Australia (2019 Oceania Cup winners)
Spain (Defeated France in Olympic qualifiers)
The Netherlands (Defeated Pakistan in Olympic qualifiers)
Canada (Defeated Ireland in Olympic qualifiers)
Women:
Japan (hosts, 2018 Asian Games champions)
Argentina (2019 Pan-American Games)
South Africa (2019 African Olympic Qualifier)
Netherlands (2019 Euro Hockey Championship)
New Zealand (2019 Oceania Cup)
Spain (Defeated Korea in Olympic qualifiers)
China (Defeated Belgium in Olympic qualifiers)
Australia (Defeated Russia in Olympic qualifiers)
Who to watch: Argentine double act?
Argentina's men are defending Olympic champions and looked good at the Pan American Games, dismantling Canada in the final 5-2.
And if Los Leones were good, Las Leonas went one better, beating Canada 5-1 in the women's final to book their safe passage to Tokyo.
The women's team has won four Olympic medals including silver at Sydney 2000 and London 2012, how they would love to make it another Argentine double act at the top of both podiums in Tokyo.
Will the Olympic champs make it to Tokyo 2020?
Great Britain won their first-ever hockey gold medal at Rio 2016, defeating the favored Netherlands in the final on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation time.
Fast forward three years to November 2019 and it's possible that the Olympic champions may not make it to Tokyo 2020 to defend their title.
5th in the 2018 Champions Trophy, 6th in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup, 8th in the 2019 Pro League, it hasn't been a world-beating form for Team GB since that historic Rio 2016 win.
Britain will have to play Chile in a two-leg qualifier over two days in London, and while the South Americans have never qualified for an Olympics, they looked good in the 2019 Pan American Games, making the semi-final and only losing out to eventual winners Argentina.
The Netherlands on revenge trail?
Four years may have passed, but that Rio 2016 final defeat to Team GB on penalties will still be fresh in their minds.
Ranked No.1 in the world, the Netherlands come in as favorites to the women's tournament having hammered Ireland 6-0 in the final of the 2018 Women's World Cup and emerged victorious in 2019 Euro Hockey Championship too, recording some eye-watering results.
Video
The Dutch destroyed Russia 14-1 in the preliminary the round ended English hopes in the semi-finals with whopping 8-0 win and defeated Germany 2-0 to lift the Cup.
But they aren't invincible, Spain held them to a 1-1 draw at the Euros - as did Belgium, and Australia handed the Dutch them the only defeat of the 2019 FIH Pro League, edging them 1-0 in Melbourne.
The Netherlands got revenge for that one blot on an otherwise perfect result card though, overcoming the Aussies on penalties (4-3) after a thrilling 2-2 draw in the FIH Pro League final.
There's no doubt that the 'Clockwork Orange' is the team to beat in Olympic 2020.
The Netherlands end Pakistan Olympic return dream
The Netherlands ended Pakistan's Olympic hopes in emphatic fashion in their qualifying play-off, after an exciting 4-4 Game 1, The Netherlands were clinical in Game 2 winning 6-1.
Pakistan men’s team are one of the most decorated hockey nations in the world with three Olympic golds (60, 68 and 84) as well as 17 appearances at the Olympic Games despite their first appearance being in 1948. However, they have fallen on hard times in recent years: Pakistan hasn’t medaled since Barcelona 1992 (bronze) and failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020.
Pakistan will have to build again towards Paris 2024. The Dutch have made at least the semi-finals in every Olympics since Seoul 1988 and have featured at every Olympics except Moscow 1980 since 1960. After that a strong statement in the qualifying play-off against Pakistan, the orange has to be considered contenders.

Olympic Basketball: America Dominates but What About ‘3x3’ for Olympic 2020
The applicants for the American Men’s Olympic 2020 team for three-on-three basketball comprise an investment banker, a social worker and a podcaster. There are previous college players from Princeton and Florida Southern, many of them following something like the apparently outdated unethical model of 50 years before to right Olympic 2020 magnificence in an event that will make its entrance at the Games this year.
Olympic lovers from all over the world are called to book Olympic 2020 tickets from our online platforms for Olympic Tickets. Olympics Modern Pentathlon lovers can book Olympic Basketball Tickets from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on reduced prices.
Then there are the candidates for the American women’s team sufficiently of W.N.B.A. players, including Kelsey Plum, 2017 No.1 overall drawn from the top pick. Whether the International Olympic Committee meant to or not, the advent of the event being mentioned as “3x3” at the Games has created an attractive talent hole between the pools of players U.S.A. Basketball will select from Monday to contribute to the event.
It exists partly because of the nature of the qualifying system but also because of the calendar. N.B.A. players have been a little busy during the fall and winter qualifying period. It also says something about the way the game differs for the genders in the United States and around the world.
The U.S.A. Basketball is not in a site to just name LeBron James, Damian Lillard and Jimmy Butler to the men’s team and be done with it. The rules of Olympic “3x3” order that players on the team have made points in events that took place over the previous few months.
The chance was there to employ some good women’s players, whose W.N.B.A. season takes place in the summer. Not so for N.B.A. players, and even the 100s of American men making a living playing basketball in Europe and China. That leaves applicants like Dominique Jones, 31, who played at Division II Fort Hays State; Canyon Barry, 26, a Florida star now in the G League; and three Princeton alums.
In contrast, many of the female candidates, although mostly not W.N.B.A. stars, are playing at the highest level of their sport. Besides Plum, Napheesa Collier was an All-Star last season as a beginner and Layshia Clarendon is an eight-year W.N.B.A. vet and 2017 All-Star selection. Some of the players in the women’s three-on-three pool like the two-time W.N.B.A. All-Star Stefanie Dolson are also applicants for the more signaled five-on-five team.
