surprising absolutely no one, im finding majimako only enjoyable within the window y0 grants us of them with the exact (or near-exact) outcome we got. makoto ultimately seeks out a stability that majima is actively rejecting at every possible turn and if either one gives up on that pursuit they will wind up miserable. a domestic life is just a different type of cage for majima, a criminal one is the same for makoto. they are interesting to me in part because of this, because for all their similarities and bonding points they are ultimately fundamentally incapable of sharing a life together, and the only time they ever had a semblance of an "us" was during a fucked up crisis that changed them both permanently. majima and makoto could only be together for one glorious drawn out moment that ends in tragedy and i think that is part is what makes them so compelling to me

oh i did have niche thoughts about majima and gender and goromi. mostly circling around the inherent perfomative nature of goromi and how i refuse to believe that goro "lord of the night" majima, who's ran a full cabaret and a cabaret club both, wouldn't know how to make wigs, dresses, and make-up look good on himself. goromi's garishness served a particular purpose to majima and was carefully crafted with that in mind and is less about majima expressing gender, though i wouldn't say it's an aspect entirely absent from her either. i would argue tho that majima is more than capable of doing a serious take on a feminine presentation of himself, but it's far from a priority for him for reasons ranging from him curating people's perception of him carefully to him preferring a masculine presentation overall. he could kill in a dress tho and pull off flattering make-up if he wanted to. also he's any pronouns my uncle who works at rgg said so

thinking about majima and saejima in y4 and what they did after they met up and fought. if they got to talk about more than just what happened in '85. if they actually did some batting or something else casual. if they talked about yasuko. if majima mentioned anything about the things he's been through, beyond what directly ties back to saejima and '85. if saejima was able to pry enough out of majima to realize just how much of his decisions spiraled around saejima for a while and how it borders a type of obsessiveness. if they at any point hugged. i hope they did
