I finish my first and last Scandal watching.

Unusually, this is the first time I finish a series hating everyone.

I do have some sympathy towards Millie, but I truly dislike everything, everyone. Olitz is toxic as hell, Olivia Pope is a disgusting manipulative human being.

Quinn is a hypocrite self-righteous, she killed and tortured so many people and act like she was still pure…

They couldn’t decide if Cyrus was a good man or just pure evil, every episode he was a different character, than they made him kill David! And all that for what??

Everyone is fucked up… nobody saved the show!

I would prefer the killer Huck over that whiny judgmental fool😫

Fitz is a cheater, blind man, who let be manipulated by his lover… god help if someone says no to the little spoiled and entitled prince… such a waste, he was terrible towards Mellie, his lover had to talk some sense into him for gods sake, his lover had to ask him to be better for her!

If I heard “I’m the president of United States,” again, I swear, I would thrown my laptop on the wall!! Seriously, how annoying, he said that like a mantra. So annoying.. gezz 😒

Olivia was always coming from Fitz to Jake arms. Jake arms Fitz, sometimes at the same day! 🤮

What a mess! 7 seasons of Olivia coming from Fitz to Jake, from Jake to Fitz, or some random assassin that her father sent to fuck his little girl 🥱

It was impossible to ship any couple, because nobody were able to be faithful, loyal. The friendships dynamic were all awful! Olivia treated everyone like they were things to be used and yelled at! Nothing saved!!

No one moment of vulnerability, a REAL moment, those rare moments were meaningless.

Redemption who? Don’t make me laugh!

When did you start writing Olitz? Summer 2020

Tell us about yourself! What do you want readers to know about you? I’m an avid reader. I love music and have classical voice training, but I can’t play a single instrument. I’m a mom to two, an “evil Queen stepmom” to three and a grandmother to two, and I’m probably too old to read fanfiction, never mind write it, but it’s a lot of fun, so I do it anyway.

What drew you to Olivia and Fitz? I didn’t discover Scandal until the beginning of season 5, but I was hooked after one episode and quickly gobbled up the first four seasons. Olivia and Fitz were just everything - romantic, beautiful, angst-filled and gut wrenching at times, but what a ride!

What made you want to write about them? I started rewatching from episode 1 during quarantine and I’d started writing again, so I decided to jump in the deep end of the pool and write a one shot set during the early days of Fitz’s first term. I  just wanted to see a tender moment between Olivia and Fitz before they - and we, the viewers - got blitzed by B6-13.

How would you describe your writing? I’m a pessimist by nature, but my writing tends to be fairly fluffy. I do enjoy writing smut. Don’t look for many earth-shattering plot lines from this gal because I’m only good for some fluffy, oftentimes smutty, goodness with a tiny bit of angst on occasion.

What inspires you to write / create? Usually, I envision a quick scene in my head, or I’ll dream up a short verbal exchange between characters, and I start making notes.

Favorite movies, shows, music? Too many to name, but I can’t live without the Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Marvel Universe or the Star Wars films. Favorite shows are JAG, The Last Ship, Law & Order: SVU, Angel, Seal Team, Bones, X-Files, Once Upon a Time, Army Wives, This is Us and, of course, Scandal. I love pretty much all music.

How long does it take you to write a chapter? If I’ve kept up with my notes and I can carve up a bit of alone time, I can normally do a chapter in an hour or two...but it’s rare that I can carve out alone time.

Did the show’s themes and plots encourage you or discourage you from writing? Encourage.

Story Reviews: Love them, hate them? I like reviews, even if they’re critical. I welcome constructive criticism - it’s the only way to improve - but if the review is just flit-out mean and spiteful, well, I simply invite the reader to move along and find something to your liking. There’s enough hate in the world; no need to make it grow with a mean spirited review.

What advice would you give to a new Olitz writer? Do it. You won’t regret it.

Outside of your fics, do you have any fave Olitz stories or authors? I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read in this fandom.

Do you talk to other Olitz authors? If so, do you like the camaraderie? A little bit, through a Facebook group. Everyone has been so friendly and supportive.

Before you go, anything else you’d like to share? This was an amazing idea. I just want to say thank you to everyone who welcomed me into this fandom. Because of the encouragement I’ve received, I’m going to expand one of my stories and I’ve got an outline going for an AU of the season 3 finale.

9-1-1 Bathena, Mature Love

I wish there was more Bathena intimacy moments. Not sex but sexy. Mature love can be sexy, playful, intimate and caring. Couples over 50 feel love and passion like younger couples...it’s just shown differently.

I notice Bobby is touching Athena incidentally more ( which is great!) but still not seeing enough intimacy. When you love someone you are always subconsciously touching them. A kiss when you enter or leave a room, a hug, hand holding, tender loving looks as the cook dinner. Ok, I might be spoiled from my days of watching Scandal, Arrow and Flash. (olitz, olicity, Lord Mesa art). Again, I’m not talking about sex scenes but sexy scenes. Many actors, directors and writers are good about including the subtle moves, eyes, etc to draw the audience into the characters love for each other.

Crazy dream I had, Bobby sitting on sofa reading at his apartment, Athena comes out of bedroom dressed in a sexy dress asks Bobby are you ready for dinner...Bobby looks up and says “wow, I was but now I want to eat in” pulls Athena down on his lap and kisses her passionately and says I love you beautiful...then I wake up...

I had another dream this week were Bobby was at the firehouse, Athena walks in and Booby kisses her asks her if she wants something to eat and then he sees she is upset. He asks her what’s wrong, she tears up and he immediately hugs her. She had to shoot a kid about May’s age... who pointed a gun at her.

I miss tumblr fanfic...any of you great writers and fans of the show...please share some great stories...I don’t have that talent.

Am I the only one who don’t see a big deal in that 360° video ? It was the very last scene of S6 and an olitz scene…So Terry is centric Something made K(nT ?) burst out laughing you can see BY also laughing and staring at them (why is she ALWAYS staring at ThK ?) and as usual K leans (see how far her feets are) towards T who is never far. TnK Glued to each other and all this tenderness isn't new. As for T’s finger on her lips, I see him showing her something…Deleting the video though

I think the big deal is that they let something like this leak, we have not seen any proper Terry interaction in a while. As for their behavior with each other, yes, it is normal 😊😊

Scandal was the first ‘adult’ show I was allowed to watch (I was around 15 when it premiered) and I was instantly obsessed. After lurking around the Tumblr fan pages, occasionally Tweeting with the cast on Thursday nights, and binge reading fanfiction, I decided to try writing a little bit myself.

Outside of Olitz, where do you get inspiration to write?

My surroundings.

How do you describe your style of writing?

Chaotic. I have notes typed away in my phone and on the back of receipts hidden at the bottom of my purse, I have formats that I write, throw away, then recycle, and I never think to color code chapters in my documents. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Do you write (journal, pen/paper) or type first?

Always type.

Do you have a special notebook or writing utensil?

Nope. It’s just me and my MacBook.

Do you incorporate visuals, music, and/or poetry to help you get into the writing mood?

I’ve tried before but none of that really works for me.  

Do you use mood boards/aesthetics/Pinterest?

I used to but not anymore.

Favorite kind of music or podcasts to listen to before/while you write?

I actually prefer to write in complete silence. If I’m listening to music I’ll have to turn it off once I get immersed in the story because it becomes a distraction.

Where do you like to write?

At home in my bed.

How long does it take you to write a chapter?

It’s hard to give a precise answer. There have been days when I’m super inspired and write 17,000 words by the end of the night but if I’m busy with school or traveling it can take me weeks to get 5,000 words down.

A favorite line or paragraph you’ve written.

Olivia carefully climbed out of her window and sat in the window sill, looking down at Fitz warily as he planted his feet in the grass.

‘You’re going to catch me?’ she asked softly, not wanting to draw any attention to them.

‘And then I’m going to kiss you senseless.’ he said as he held his arms up higher for her.

Describe yourself in 5 words/phrases:

Goofy, objective, introverted extrovert, sensitive, and just a lil’ materialistic.

The thing that drew me to Olitz other than their burning passion, unconditional love and intangible chemistry is how real they can be with each other. I like that even though they’re both this powerful figure in a world as toxic as Washington can be, that there’s still room for vulnerability between those two. They see each other and they know all there needs to be known about the other and yet in spite of those things, they always come back to each other and that theme of vulnerability continues full circle again. They're magnetic and it’s the most beautiful thing.  - Karla
