Trying to work out how I see these kids aging! (With some Grunkles for reference)

Designs I made so I can use for my FILTHY Self-Inserting. Still deciding WHEN it takes place but either 1-2 years after the events of the show, so the twins are 14-15 while Wendy is 16-17.

Matching Tattoos

Most people get matching tattoos for sentimental reasons and to signify the bonds they have with each other. Not the Mystery Siblings though as their tattoos are to help keep them safe against possession and mind influencing magics as they go on their supernatural adventures.

THEY ARE RELATED. THEY ARE RELATEDDD. THE GRUNKLE PARALLELS IN THEIR OUTFITSSS. OUGHHH. Also i love that everyone just agrees that Mabel wears leg warmers in her teens,i've seen another artist do that before and i LOVE IT. They are so awesome. I care them.

Thinkin' about doing my own older Gravity Falls designs because damn I love these kids.

One thing I kind of pushed with these designs is some parallels between the two twin sets. Obviously within the narrative Mabel mirrors Stan and Dipper mirrors Ford, but I thought it'd be cute if they each took a little something from both Grunkles to show a more even influence. I'm still workshopping this though, so it's subject to change.

Dipper already has the journal to mirror Ford, so I gave him some bandages all over to bring in something from Kid/Teen Stan. Mabel was a bit harder, but I think her having a grappling hook on her hip actually mirrors Ford pretty well (he's always got some kinda gun-looking thing in his coat), so I put a bow tie in her hair as a nod to Stan's Mr. Mystery costume.

Started knitting leg warmers because they're "sweater sleeves for your calves!"

Grappling Hook!!

Found those cute acne patches and never ever goes anywhere without them. They now form a new section of her very bloated sticker scrapbook.

Hair tie and earrings always match.

Dipper

Grew her bangs out!

Still coughs up glitter sometimes.

Famous Pines hair curls!

Figured he might as well lean into the hat and got a ton of flannel-patterned shirts.

Cargo shorts!

Borderline mullet. He hasn't bothered to cut his hair since Weirdmageddon.

He will always be a vest guy I think.

Mabel keeps trying to give him acne patches but he always picks them off.

Made a book holster for his journal. Ford agrees that it's very cool.

Finally taller!

Still chews pens.

14-15 y/o pines twins! had a lot of fun with this one,,,,

No bc the fact that the og pines twins use the same comments and speaking mannerisms at time after being apart for 40+ years genuinely wrecks me. Here’s some things that tear me apart about the og pines.

Key examples:

“What are ya waiting for, a kiss on the cheek?”

Being able to do perfect impressions of each other.

The fact Ford remember’s his brother almost perfectly after spending 40+ years away from him.

Stan tends to refer to Ford more as his brother, whereas Ford refers to him by Stanley.

Stanley kept the bunker in the basement identical to how Stanford left it.

The fact that Ford immediately stopped trying to fight Stan when they fought pre portal after Stan got branded.

In the Gobblewonker episode, his boat was named the Stan o’ War, a reference to the boat he and Ford named the boat from their childhood.

When Stan gave dipper the key to Ford’s bedroom because he reminded him of Ford.

Finding Ford’s glasses and wiping them clean.

I like to think that even as they get older Mabel is either the same height or like half and inch taller than Dipper (and always wears some sort of heel to rub it in)

something I've found a bit funny if u compare the kids designs in toh, gf and A are how dip and mabe, being 12, are so tiny compared to how lanky toh and A kids are even w them only being a few years older. toh's designs is a bit less jarring 2 me since it's more realistic, but if u put the mystery twins beside calamity trio it's silly how the latter look so l o n g in comparison
