now why on earth would i, a humble man, ask the people to vote for blaze over ricardo? what basis could i possibly have to convince you to consider him over (arguably) los diablos most eligible bachelor?? friends, i come to you with two simple arguments:

1. blaze shows a surprising amount of depth when you dive under the flashy exterior

2. i cannot stress enough how funny it would be to watch ortega lose in the first round

blaze is undeniably a suave, arrogant asshole who desperately needs somebody to kick his ass. hes a little prick to the puppet (if theyre male, if theyre female he switches his tune Damn Quick) and he somehow managed to fumble chen??? which is frankly embarrassing for him.

However. however. hes shown in both very small interactions when you meet him and during the actual fight to be a competent, strategic hero who cares about the people. as step points out, when the puppet stumbles over him his immediate reaction is to treat them like somebody who needed help. during the fight, he first takes the time to strategize, making sure to dial back his powers to make sure nobody gets hurt– to the point that he hinders himself. even chen says that blaze always had careful control, to the point where if you fry him in the meeting room, chen suspects somethings up.

hes also surprisingly reasonable about step, giving serious thought to what they say and do regardless of how cruel of a villain they are. yeah ok ortega has the 'sympathetic' villain relationship status but does that really do anything about his perceptions of them??? he still readily calls them a monster during the villain reveal. meanwhile it takes one(1) conversation with blaze to get him questioning his bosses, and it literally does not matter how many people youve killed, he ends up pestering alvarez about it anyway. i firmly believe that hes put a lot more thought about the problems in the system he works under, even if he puts more faith in it than he should.

anyway thats enough serious propaganda, heres the sillier ones: hes such a loser. like 24/7 nonstop. this man is utterly pathetic. i know i talked about how good he is as a hero but listen to me. he gets all dismissive about a step that has less than 55 infamy, but i have 9 steps (though i only talk about 4). i have lost to him by accident Once. i have to codedive so i can lose to him On Purpose for the achievement it is so bad. it is so funny watching all the ways he can eat shit during that fight. truly the pinnacle of bisexual failboy.

House of the dragon 2x02 very much redeemed the awful execution of Blood and Cheese in 2x01

The dialogue in this new episode was absolutely phenomenal. The scene of Aegon going batshit crazy after the death of his son was fantastic. I literally had chills. Tom carried the whole episode. I felt his rage with every atom of my body.

That whole sequence of the council meeting was 10/10. The way different people react to this awful tragedy, the way Alicent is heartbroken and feels guilty (although I wish they went in the direction of Helaena feeling guilty instead but whatever), Otto being very rational about everything, Aegon just being full of rage and despair. GORGEOUS.

I was a little disappointed with the way Aemond didn���t seem to care all that much. The scene in the brothel was alright, but it seemed off to me that he seemed to care more about the fact that the assassins were sent by Daemon to kill him, rather than grieving the death of his nephew. He literally showed more emotions when Luke died which is weird💀💀

I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the show’s excessive focus on Alicole. Don’t get me wrong but it just seems so out of character for Alicent to hook up with Criston soon after the death of her grandson, instead of comforting Helaena and Aegon who are grieving the loss of their child. That scene at the end was very weird and kind of unnecessary (again).

The dialogue between Rhaenyra and Daemon was surprisingly very good and emotional, and I am saying this as a team green supporter. I was even surprised that I started feeling bad for Rhaenyra. She has such a shitty husband, it’s actually pretty sad. At least she is starting to acknowledge it now, that she is more grown up and mature. Oh and I fucking hate Daemon, can’t wait to see him die. What a disgusting pathetic fucking asshole.

Their dialogue was fantastic, and felt super realistic, believable, and easy to follow and understanding. I loved it!!

The funeral scene… Chills. Literal, actual fucking chills. When they showed Jaehaerys’ little corpse with his head sewed back to his neck… My heart stopped for a moment here 😭😭😭😭 And Otto organizing that whole thing just to exploit the grief of Alicent and Helaena. Jesus. I don’t even know how to feel. It makes sense, and it was a good political move, but my heart breaks for Helaena especially.

At least it was shown that she is beloved by the smallfolk, which is accurate. Sure, she may not have needed that and preferred to grieve alone, but at least these people weren’t interrupting the funeral, like it seemed in the trailer.

Aegon punishing Blood was 1000/10 although I wish we had seen more of this. And him killing all the ratcathers… well, sad, of course, but can we really blame a grieving father? At least Cheese is dead. Although Otto was right, this is definitely gonna backfire.

Criston… Yeah, um. I guess that’s just how it is. Bro is projecting so hard onto everyone, jeez. Not a big fan of that, but it is what it is, and it’s kind of book accurate if i’m not misremembering anything?

Arryk and Erryk death scene was devastatingly sad tho. Absolutely horrible.

Overall, I’d say the execution of Blood and Cheese was horrible IMO, the way the consequences of it were shown was an easy 10/10. No complaints here.

Oh my brain tends to waver in all different directions, so here's current *looks at time* 3-4 am Zondes takes

Ichika: Wolfdog in a way. She gives me abandoned oupy vibes. Maybe Wolf au also played a part

Saki: Golden retriever, I'm taking that from Corv with no semblance of shame. Saki is Dogcoded, her twintails are big floppy ears and you can squish her face

Honami: I can see her as multiple things really. Anything big and gentle, but the first thought is bear (although a small voice in me says bears are loners so that couldn't work so maybe reindeer?)

Shiho: Arctic fox I suppose? There aren't many Shiho animals in my brain, except ig canon bnuy Shiho (very valid) and shoebill Shiho (which I very like) . I'm still more or less indecisive and assign based on vibes, setting and au theme.

Minori: Another dogcoded girl for me, she got that dawg in her. Definitely a mut, idk what mix though. I do sometimes gravitate to otter or hummingbird☝️

Haruka: Easy penguin, but Wolf au rewired my brain to think falcon. Specifically because a fairytale I read for reference had a guy collect multiple unique things to lift a curse or something (3am brain) and the first one was the blue falcon, then the white lightsword, the golden horse and lastly the princess of France (which I jokingly call Minori pfahaha). I gave au Haruka a falcon because of that and heavily associated it with her (also falcon fits her personality imo)

Airi: Once again Wolf au bias, she in my eyes is a lynx. Maybe severe brainrot has influenced me, but lynx fits her well. It's a feline, it's said to be observant and knowledgeable of humanity, but isn't part of it (I connect this with main story Airi and her idolhood + it's also Wolfs themes) fwuffy paws☝️....Yeah I rest that case

Shizuku: Snowy owl. I want to draw wof au Shizuku with snowy owls, gog au Shizuku is a snowy owl, Wolf au...nah there she is connected to hares, so except that, heavily see her as a snowy owl. Additionally, Owls are very pretty and seem intelligent, but are really dense in reality, so that fits. (Although Sega does give us a good Shizuanimal with swans)

Kohane: Call me lazy, but hamster. Things are speaking for snake and I would actually love some snake!kohane in the world (looks at mirror with big beady eyes) still hamster is the kohammy animal. Hamster and/or sheep.... yesh

An: Another Wolfdog in my eyes (points at a-crowcats-nonsense furry!au) I see her having that dog in her. Although she could also be a dolphin of sorts, many thoughts

Akito: Cat. He's very catcoded and lives in a cardboard box (in my heart)

Toya: Moth is the first thought, maybe because I think he's giving... powdery texture and the base moth I think about is a black and white one. He could also be a snow owl, or a hooded crow... gasp *points at goliath beetle that hangs on my wall* and that

Tsukasa: I initially wrote lion, but then I recall Tsukasa in the Wolf au being connected to deer (in Airis Pov) which I stand more besides. Still his hair could be a banger mane for a lion

Emu: Can I say doggirl? Ig I do put all the energetic girls into the oupy category. Emu is actually just an adjective used to describe energetic animals. Emu kinkaju, emu ferret, emu budgie etc. etc. I see a thing with too much energy and go "just like Emu from my gacha game" she's a dog for me but so much more

Nene: My first impression on Nene was "Her hair makes her look like a pathetic dog"... yes this is another dog girl for me. But she can also be Emus anxious cheetah to her overly social dog.

Rui: I could say platypus, but I see Rui more as a bird. Likely an owl of sorts (I am suspecting a gog au bias) Although a manewolf would work aswell

Kanade: *fighting the urge to say dog* snake... or deer. She's giving "animal who has to be put down" but also "emotional support animal that also needs emotional support" I see a dog, but I'm not brave enough to declare the ninth doggirl

Mafuyu: Jellyfish I suppose. I do associate Mafuyu with many things, yet jellyfish is the most concrete. Probably because of her aquarium + the kitchen lamp resembling a jellyfish + wof au. I do think more of her as tangled in one as really one, but the thought... maybe octopus aswell

Ena: Cat or wolf (Wolf au bias for the latter). She is giving more of a cat though so I settle with Ena hissing and batting at people (Mizuki)

Mizuki: Cuckoo, because of Wolf au bias, but cat in my heart. Cuckoo is just because it dabbles in ugly duckling themes, something something your body is betraying you (which only works in a au setting though, since there she's also a changeling which makes the connection clearer) Cat fits better with canon Mizuki, so my final say is cat, or feline of any kind.

Ok so im assuming you know the general gist of s4 which is kind of all i know about it aside from like one or two vods ive fully watched. You also probably know about swagdoons which are the enemies to lovers (sometimes) of lifesteal and they try to kill each other but kiss afterwards..... they are the yaoi ever but ill try to be less insane about them to keep this rant focused

most of my REAL info about ash is from mid s5 and s6 which is when i started watching streams more than the videos, however i know he tries to portray himself as the big scary villain in s4 but honest to god he was apologizing PROFUSELY for the smallest things that guy is NAWT a truly heartless villain although he is pretty selfish and greedy but. Well:

before getting into his character i thought he like fully hated everyone, would never try to help someone else, was a general asshole etc etc but the more i paid attention to him the more i realized that yeah i guess he is those things but there is at least one person he gives a shit about (squiddo) and by god does he care a LOT about her

he also is pretty pathetic actually.... when his peace thing in s5 didnt work out he immediately went back to trying to be evil and selfish in s6... hmm its almost like he reverts back to hating everyone before they think hes a loser hmmm... its also really funny because this guy can BARELY pvp so he's very all or nothing on his dramatic gestures (eg he cant take over the server with pvp so he does it with the wormhole which imo is 500% more impressive, although i dont know very much about pvp)

despite him being pathetic he is def a force to be reckoned with, hes very idle until provoked and the provokation is usually out of spite and malice but that guy will stop at Nothing to get what he wants once he has a good enough motive (and doesnt have collage work)

he also gives me false god vibes but like... hes sort of AWARE hes a false god but does not want to admit it At All. i think its really interesting that the season after he became god he was made a host for a god (he actually confirms hes possesed by the commisioner/overseer/lifesteallord when he talks as them btw absolutely wild) and i think it would be cool if that was intentionally to like. Humble him. Show him a real god, not just an immortal guy with flying powers

(This is a little more of a headcanon but i think its feasable) i think that since his s5 loss, being his first major loss in any season ever, hes lost a sense of self in lifesteal, sitting in his house thats too big with empty walls and emptier reasoning. not to mention hes teamless and his only ally/friend is squiddo and thats not even official 😭😭

so yeah my guy is Going Through It... someone get this man hot chocolate and a warm blanket or maybe a picnic with his Best and Only Friend 🙁🙁

(Oh yea if you want a general idea of s5 onwards and dont have time for streams or really long cinematic videos i would recommend squiddos videos on it, theyre rarely over 15-20 minutes and there are only seven right now so you can get through them in a few days if you're REALLY crunched for time ^_^)

hello again glitchduo anon!! giggles i kind of know some general lore?? but mostly out of things i see on here about it, or like clips/vods i'm able to watch when i have time? so yeah... ash's character is very interesting to me, and honestly, what you said about him aligned pretty well with what i did see of him, but like... not in lifesteal, but the character he played in spoke's unstable videos. bro was literally begging for attention and alliance, and then turned around and BOOM twist villain jumpscare he's actually evil... he was acting off the whole time (ignoring mapicc, probably because he knew mapicc was harder to manipulate, and being very obnoxious about getting close to spoke in particular), so that checked out (sorry, i can yap about unstable for so long, im so insane about it) but yeah, i really really enjoy watching him do his thing, and i want to study him in a lab like a weird microorganism or something definitely was getting the false god vibes too btw from i did see of him in lifesteal (which was mostly just other people's vods) actually the whole being host of a god sounds so interesting?? that's definitely the first time i heard about something like this and i love everything having to do with possessions and stuff like that definitely one of the top characters i actually want to know more about (second close is minutetech i'd say) and don't worry, i really like reading what you send in, it actually helps a lot and it's very interesting!! the moment i opened my inbox and saw a lot of text i was like "oh yeah i know who this is from" (/hj/aff btw) thank you for taking the time to give me more knowledge i guess :33 !!

Hey Kit!! This past year when the Acolyte came out, my heart broke and I decided to step away from Star Wars. It’s fine that others liked it but personally I didn’t; actually to be frank, I REALLY didn’t like it. Star Wars and Anakin got me through a lot, so watching Disney take an actual shit on his origin and then his redemption ark by half-assing the lore, felt like a punch to the gut, and I had to step away. (This is my personal opinion, if you or others liked it that’s great! I just didn’t). However, when I saw that u published the body politics au, I decided to sit down and catch up on all your fics (btw I love the Hanahaki one!), and it got me back into the fandom. I’m glad one shitty (imo) show didn’t push me away permanently and I have you to thank for that. I’ve met so many great people thru Star Wars and made a lot friends so it had really been kind of hard to turn away from it. I just really wanted to say thank you. your writing is, as always, too beautiful and inspiring to ignore. Star Wars means so much, and I’m so thankful that your work was able to help me look past all the stuff that made me unhappy with it. I hope you have a wonderful day!!

this is very kind to send to me and a very nice morning read! i admit, i actually have not watched the acolyte, though not for any particular reason. i've definitely heard mixed reviews about the show and its take on the jedi order and the sith, which have been sorta sad to read cause i do like the jedi (though i guess i never label myself as pro-jedi cause like? they're the good guys? you're not like. pro-percy jackson or something right? pro-katniss everdeen? you just sorta read the book and you're like oh yeah these are the good guys. might find aspects of a character annoying but i'm definitely not supposed to be rooting for the Capitol or smething right)

but i've also heard from other people that as a pew-pew show, it delivers on that front! lightsaber fights are cool and everyone has a funky haircut that they pull off somehow which does feel quintessentially star wars

my general view of the disney plus star wars shows is that i'll watch the ones that strike my fancy, and if one of them doesn't then i won't. the star wars disney execs produce a lot of content (and i truly mean content, i.e. material to be consumed - not necessarily art) and a lot of it i'm probably never going to watch. it wasn't made for me, and i definitely get the lurch and disappointment you may feel if you look forward to something for ages and then it's not what you wanted in a thousand small ways or a handful of big ways. i think that's especially hard to guard against nowadays when trailers for tv shows rely more on aesthetic and punchy one-liners and brief second cameos than they do explaining the actual story of the show

but you can be a fan without loving the direction some shows go in or the choices directors make!! if that looks like only watching shows that have been peer-reviewed, or if that looks like ignoring everything but a small corner/subset of a massive fandom, or if that looks like turning from the media itself and diving further into fanart and fanfiction and interacting with people online then that's what it looks like! especially now that the world of canon star wars media isn't just 6-9 movies + 2(?) non trilogy movies, you should absolutely go about watching star wars content with a you-first mindset 100%

you know how many people were disappointed in the obi-wan kenobi series?? soooo many because he was a sad little pathetic and broken man with greasy hair. but that's exactly how i like my obi-wan kenobis, so i was thrilled every episode lol but i'm sure other people hated it and boycotted and whatever. but i found my corner of the fandom who also enjoyed that and it's been wonderful <3

Bdubs — reeflux, reeflux in itself doesn't seem threatening, and neither does Bdubs. however when given the chance both Bdubs and reeflux can be deadly!!! also. coughs. bow buddies w Etho. they probably support each other in battle. BUT BACK TO THE POINT yeah reeflux looks very innocent but can be quite a lethal weapon when played right and Bdubs can definitely be lethal too if he wants to be :3 

BigB — carbon deco, he's often laying low and doesn't bring too much attention to himself, which is similar to how you play carbon!! :D slightly unsettling guy with a slightly unsettling weapon that constantly makes you pay a little bit more attention. just to be sure.

Cleo — wiper, from the kills they got a bunch of them are with swords so I thought wiper would be fitting!! on top of that, when in the hands of a good player wiper can be very scary, similar to how some people (Etho) are scared of Cleo!! on a silly note, torp is kinda like a “whatever, go my torp” sub like how she was able to summon zombies and make them hunt after players, and both torps and the zombies are shot down easily!!

Etho — tristringer, he gets his ass kicked in close combat often, HOWEVER he can set up traps and get kills that way (sometimes)!! tristringer fits very well here imo because I generally see him as a bow user and tristringers kit allows for traps pretty decently, toxic mist and killer wail can actually be pretty useful if you use it right!! also there might be a slight bias here bcs I play stringers alot but you didn't hear that from me nuh uh.

Gem — gold naut, alright so most of Gems kills were with a sword, so you could say “splatana!” HOWEVER. I already did that with Cleo. it’s less fun the second time. ANYWAYS naut is a very strong pvp weapon!! and Gem is a very strong pvper!! alt kit over vanilla naut because I feel like suction and splashdown fit her better as they’re both more offensive while the vanilla kit is more supportive!!

Grian — squelchers, mainly because of the splat bombs I’m ngl (tnt minecarts off skynet.. splat bombs.. trust me on this one), I really don’t have much other reasoning??? the colour also matches his skin!!

Impulse — eliter, he tries to play very tactical and all that with traps (in wl atleast) and forgets his enderpearls when he’s falling to his death. fumbling and forgetting stuff the moment you’re in trouble is the peak Eliter Experience trust me. also inkmines are kinda traps!! I’m totally not giving one of my mains to one of my favs nope. 

Jimmy — dapples, a pathetic weapon for a pathetic guy /j. OKAY JOKES ASIDE Jimmy is not great at surviving and neither are most dapple players due to how little range the weapon has. vanilla dapples instead of nouveau bcs I can see him supporting his teammates w beakons and coolers rather than charging into combat (and also I don’t think anyone should be subjected to the horror that is the ndapples kit)

Joel — mint decav, strong main weapon with an offensive sub and a defensive special!! saw a tweet saying Joel wants to protect those he’s allied with but he also really wants to fight people and I feel like decav fits very well with that?? it’s an offensive weapon but bubbler can be used to protect his team!!

i think all of these fit the people so well! literally the only one i have thoughts on is tango's....which is unsurprising..

my thoughts while i was drawing that octo!tango was all mobility and Getting Away- Flee with Extra Flee, if you will- aligned, and that screams inkbrush to me. it also matches tango's spammy way of just swinging his sword at his assailant and trying to either knock them away or just do just enough damage to kill them first. but i love the stamp as a special for him, especially since he got some amazing kills in Wild Life with the hammer.

skizz being a brella user is so smart! especially when considering that impulse uses a eliter! i just got this really vivid image in my head of impulse using skizz's cover to take out people and that altogether reminds me of impulse and skizz playing battle field together. also jimmy being a dapples user is so funny to me, like, yeah <3

all of these are so spot on that it's like,"yeah, i'll incorporate that into my belief system"

do you think Metatron was bullshitting Azi or feeding him flattery when he said “you’re a leader, you don’t just tell people what they want to hear”? I feel like that’s going to be a Significant Moment when Meta is unmasked as the Big Bad in S3 and uses it against Aziraphale, scoffing and saying he just told Aziraphale what he wanted to hear, that he’s so pathetic and lonely that he would bend over backwards and abandon Earth just because he got a few crumbs of praise from a higher power. I feel like it’s really going to fuck Aziraphale up too, and Crowley will have to rebuild his self-confidence.

oh i definitely think whether it was flattery or bullshit, or both, they both knew it to be... incorrect. when you take into account that they both know what went down in their last interaction with each other, the whole of metatron's spiel to aziraphale in ep6 feels patently false.

the crux of their conversation in s1, ep4:

put this interaction next to what he says to him in ep6, and almost every line is comparatively a lie:

"You're a leader, you're honest, you don't just tell people what they want to hear- it's why Gabriel came to you in the first place, I imagine..."

the only time that aziraphale, to my mind, truly acts like a leader specifically is at the end of s2. not really even at the airfield in s1; sure, he comes up with a way to make the angels doubt the great plan, but it's not evocative of leadership and moreso an employee springing their superiors with some convoluted (albeit valid) logic. and yes he gets his bamf-face on during the demon raid, but he's still very unsure and dithery, especially when he's pulling himself up by the bootstraps when telling shax to leave - and she then promptly puts him back in his place. and then consider every interaction he's ever had with the archangels; yeah, not quite leadership qualities, to my mind.

but the way he commands the room in the bookshop, when the demons and angels are squabbling and hissing like cats on a hot tin roof, is for me the first sign where aziraphale could actually lead. and the intriguing thing for me is that the metatron wasn't actually there for it; he was outside waiting in line and ordering his coffee from nina, but that's a different conversation.

as for whether metatron will reveal that it was bullshit/flattery in s3... would aziraphale much care? that's a little harder for me to riddle out. because here are some things that i have in my head:

there is a clear line drawn for aziraphale - imo - in s1. before the above conversation with the metatron, aziraphale is still largely loyal to heaven and the archangels, regardless of his own private dislike/apathy towards them individually. he is praised by heaven for his work, and actually - for what it's worth - i feel like gabriel's compliment is somewhat genuine (i could write a Lot about gabriel and aziraphale's dynamic but that's another ask). but anyway; at this point in the story, aziraphale still seems to put stock into the archangels' opinion and appraisal of him:

but afterwards, after the metatron drops the nuke that everything aziraphale believed about what heaven should be is a lie (and that they will not just not intervene in, but are actively encouraging, the apocalypse so they can finally have it out with hell), aziraphale breaks from heaven entirely by the time we enter s2. they want nothing to do with him, and he wants nothing to do with them.

as i said before, aziraphale doesn't display leadership qualities - and i daresay that he's never really wanted it. he expressed to the metatron explicitly that he doesn't want to return to heaven, and at no point has he indicated that he's ambitious, or power-hungry, or essentially that he covets the supreme archangel position for himself. so, with that in mind, would he be really upset if the metatron turned around with "sike! you're an awful leader and i was lying to you all along"?

i mean, possibly. because yes, okay, in ep6 metatron is essentially telling aziraphale - "all these qualities that others have told you are heinous and laughable as an angel? yeah i actually want that exact kind of angel running heaven." and maybe yeah, aziraphale would buy into that; take all of the insecurities he has about himself - and if those qualities make him a good angel or not - and suddenly start seeing them as things that are in fact valuable.

but we've seen aziraphale be self-conscious, or take a knock to his self-esteem, and they have almost always been linked to things he genuinely cares about, and tie him to earth and humanity. he loses confidence in 1941 over his magic act. he feels self-conscious about being soft/his love of food. he is knocked back by the notion from shax that crowley only values him as a source of support. all of these, i think, are tied to aziraphale's idea of angelhood, but again - idk if aziraphale doesn't see through what the metatron is flattering him with in ep6. he certainly doesn't look flattered:

all that to say; i don't think aziraphale would be blown to pieces by being told by the metatron that it was all a lie, all flattery to get him back in the fold. in s1, aziraphale has a very clear view that the metatron and god are not the same; the metatron is just a spokesman, aaaaaand the metatron just played his hand in telling aziraphale that they're plotting the second coming. which aziraphale definitely recognises as a Thing. his last look outside the lift would signify that he knows he's walking into the lion's den, and he's not on board, but has no choice but to follow now and play the game.

so personally, i think for him to suddenly regress to begging off the heavenly table for scraps would be to erase quite a bit of his character journey so far. depending on how you view the final fifteen, aziraphale is nonetheless going back to 'make a difference'... but i'd put money on that 'difference' being worlds away from what the metatron had intended.

if anything - given how he's replaced heaven's place in his life with crowley in s2 - i feel like crowley may instead be the source of aziraphale needing to confront himself about a few things. and not in a 'crowley will be an arsehole and rip aziraphale a new one just because he can' way, but a 'there are a lot of things that the both of them have refused to acknowledge about themselves, as well as each other, that have to be reckoned with before they can even begin to repair the rift'.

personally, i think that has the potential to fuck up aziraphale more than anything the metatron could ever do or say - and vice versa, for crowley - but also be significantly more empowering and completing than crowley being the one to pick up the pieces, if that makes sense?💕

What do you think of the boys season 4

I love it!

homelander arc is very interesting because despite his god complex he is so undeniably human, also trying to balance his absolute psychotic mindset with genuinely trying to be what he thinks is a good father is really intriguing. he also seems somewhat more… tame? like violent murder is definitely still on the table, and he enjoys torturing those who wronged him, but it’s not as arbitrary and random as before, he doesn’t torture people like deep or a-train just for the sake of it, doesn’t care about being idolized by someone like firecracker, actually wants people who are somewhat equal to him and actively seeks out sage and accepts that he could actually learn from her („smart enough to listen“ is genuinely a pretty wise quote) and don’t get me wrong, none of this is homelander apologism, dude is still psycho, but it definitely feels like an intriguing growth - like developing from a superpowered man-baby to an actual supervillain (does him getting milk again represent a step back then? time will tell)

then on the other hand you have butcher torn between literal devil and angel on his shoulder as his time is running out, I loved his decision not to give ryan the cookies (the kid really seems to bring out the best in everyone - despite being somewhat pscho himself) and excited to see where it goes and if they‘ll actually kill him off (I think not tbh)

a-train redemption was expected and doesn’t feel perfectly executed, but I do really like it in theory and was hoping for it. that moment taking mm to the hospital where his little cousin sees him was great, something about actually becoming the hero people see him as… beautiful powerful arc if they go through with it

kimiko is still awesome and cute. I love her! don’t have much to say because I don’t fully get her arc (doesn’t show subtitles for some reason) but I‘m happy whenever she’s on screen, her exasperated sigh when she has to keep explaining everything with books was the best😂

mm is similar, I still love him but poor dude needs a break

hughie arc with his dad was very meaningful, accepting his death, reconciling with his mother and forgiving a-train, he has finally actually learned from his mistakes which is so great to see (compared to people like butcher always stepping in the same shit again and again)

annie confronting her past is also great, I actually hope her and cracker can somehow reconcile too (cracker is really up in the air, giving 50% redemption vibes but might also just double down on being evil and eventually getting killed or discarded)

tek knight was underwhelming, I expected an evil batman not a weird masochist, at least not JUST a weird masochist

frenchie Idk, he was a favorite before but I heard bad things about his actor, his arc is actually great imo I just can’t fully enjoy it

did I miss anyone? oh ashley… she’s just a weird character, can’t really hate nor pity her, she is a victim, she is a villain, she’s pathetic, she’s ultimately unnecessary and doesn’t add much

but yeah overall extremely happy with the season and can’t wait for next episode

I'm actually pretty pleased with how this ep played out - I don't have an issue with Ray's behaviour pre-party - he obviously misses Sand and though yeah it's not fun for Sand, at this point I don't think Ray's deliberately trying to have his cake and eat it because he still hasn't really processed how much he likes Sand, he just knows he's 'so damn happy' when he's with him (oh Ray, doesn't that tell you anything??). Besides, Sand still hasn't explicitly made his feelings clear, yet the second Ray picks up on Sand's pain, he addresses it - he is visibly upset by it. Then when (thanks to a mixture of drugs and alcohol and the at least subconscious knowledge that Mew is just using him) he does cross the line and act like a certified shit, Sand is having none of it. But, just like the end of ep 6, Sand is still able to put aside his hurt and try and help him evade the police because at the end of the day, he's a compassionate person, he cares for Ray, and he knows Ray is damaged and prison will do nothing but make that damage ten times worse. And yet he doesn't STAY with him, he doesn't soothe his sweaty, coked up brow (it's a very conscious choice to have Top caring for Mew immediately followed by Ray left alone to sleep it off) - Sand takes action to try and protect Ray from an external threat, BUT HE STLL LEAVES AFTERWARDS. He might 'yield' more to Ray than anyone else, but imo it hasn't come at the cost of his dignity or his integrity.

And so I think I've found a way for this to play out that I'm cautiously optimistic about! I think between them, this ep and next ep will put the Mew thing to bed - ep 9 will be them dealing with that elephant/the Halloween shitstorm, talking about their feelings, and making a go of it. We'll get five mins of happiness, incl. playing music to little kiddies (that scene cracked me up: 'Sand, tHInK oF tHe oRPhAnS!') before the next obstacle, which will be Ray finding out whatever his dad asked of Sand, which will feel like a massive betrayal and cause the trailer fight. If that's the case, then that fight is actually just a stepping stone to the real Final Boss, which is Ray's mental health/addiction and that's what will occupy the last few eps - via the fight and the aftermath, Ray will eventually realise that whatever Sand did, he did out of care and concern which will help Ray admit he has a problem and needs help which will lead to rehab/therapy, making reparations with Sand, and sober camping in Chiang Mai THE END! (I'm taking no questions and accepting no criticisms!)

That’s a great point about the comparison between Top caring for Mew while Ray is left alone in the end…I’m also pretty pleased with how this episode turned out overall, largely because Sand did not enter his Nick-pathetic-era like I was fearing. He stands up to Ray and gets a few delicious jabs in, yet he still runs after Ray when it really counts. I think the biggest problem now is Ray’s recognition of his feelings for Sand and what that means. Sand even says that it isn’t fair what Ray is doing to him, but I don’t think Ray is fully processing that because, like you said, he’s still contending with his own mixed feelings. All he really knows for certain is how happy he is with Sand. He’s too deep in his feelings for Mew to think much beyond that yet.

Something that stood out to me: Ray comments that he knows Sand loves him. Yeah, Sand has admitted to caring for Ray, but Ray really targets Sand’s emotions in that fight at the party. It’s something I don’t think we’d see if Ray was sober, because I’d argue Ray would struggle to accept that that love is valid. To me, Ray calling out Sand’s feelings just emphasizes how desperate and possessive he is, and just how much he wants it to be true. He can say it flippantly because he hasn’t really processed it yet.

Re: your predictions about things going forward…if that’s how it pans out I will be fully onboard, haha. I’m personally more interested in Ray’s mental health as the obstacle to his relationship with Sand rather than the love triangle, though I do think the love triangle is a nice segue into a much deeper conflict. In a lot of ways, the love triangle veils Ray’s inner struggles and where those stem from. I think Sand is the key to exposing them and putting him on a better path.

Anyways, if this ends with happy Sand and Ray in Chiang Mai, I’ll be over the moon (pun absolutely intended). :)

WHATS UR FAVORITE RYOMINA MOMENT FROM THE MOVIES I NEED TO KNOW!!!

it is VERY tempting for me to answer, "every fucking time ryoji showed up on screen!" ok this might be an exaggeration, i like 90% of his screentime, december 2nd ryoji should've been portrayed more like a pathetic wet dog imo but i digress. but hm... favorite moment.

while the helper's club montage has a very strong place in my heart (it permeated my braincells without my permission)!! i think my favorite part of ryomina's portrayal in the movies is the whole sentence finishing thing they got going on. i feel like that's a cop out answer but like.

there is something so so gut wrenching to me about how they start off by making it so that ryoji is the one finishing minato's sentences. always ryoji. BUT THEN!!! when they meet again at the top of tartarus to do battle on judgment day!! they turn it on it's head!! and it's minato!! who finishes the sentence!! and fuck man does it make me feel like i'm being kicked down a staircase.

and to have the sentence finishing happen again for such an important day?? god idk im gonna tear up and someone needs to like. give me like. a chew toy or something this makes me so fucking insane (blows up) (blows up).

so basically my favorite moment is really like, january 31st, but a lot of my attachment to it is BECAUSE they have that set-up in november with ryoji being the silliest fucking guy to have ever walked at gekkoukan. and oh man oh man the fucking. THE. when. WHEN THEY FOLLOW IT UP WITH MINATO SUMMONING THANATOS AFTER THIS?? yeah man. that's the fucking shit.

like i don't think the english language is enough to convey how much i love the artistic choice to have the flash frame of ryoji when minato summons thanatos. it's the hesitation and rebellion babey!!! the whole scene afterwards is so fucking juicy as well.

honorable mention to when ryoji jumped off the fucking roof at iwatodai station to tell minato that he has kindness in his eyes and that he doesn't like seeing him alone. what kind of guy does that. that's so fucking hilarious to me like actually. he was insane for that.

anyway that is my answer i HOPE u enjoyed reading it, god, ryomina still makes me eyes watery (it's been almost 2 years since i've met them??? what the fuck). i feel like others have echoed this sentiment before but nevertheless i was super happy to type it out :D

some ppl do too much w making eddie v traditionally smart/knowledgeable or w having steve say that eddie is one of the smartest people he knows (as though steve's best friends are not robin and dustin). i have also seen ppl make steve say that eddie is the smartest person he knows which,,, okay. sure. we're all a little delusional sometimes ig. then use this as a springboard for him just not trying in school or w/e bc he doesn't care despite him clearly caring enough to repeat senior year three times instead of just getting his ged. this also works against what i find most appealing about eddie - like some ppl want him to be a bad boy played straight who is super smart and competent and i do not understand that. i like that eddie is a drug dealer that just can't graduate high school obsessed w his nerdy interests who is not cool and also not v competent outside of his specific interests, particularly in the intense survival situation he finds himself in. that's what makes eddie fun to me and it's also why any fics or aus that make him hyper successful/famous/competent/badass/etc never feel authentic to him as a character imo. they just rarely let the fact that he is a soft-hearted, nervous person at heart shine and that is what i like most about him. also ppl don't appreciate the way steddie defies expectation enough - like when it comes to dealing w the weird, scary world of the upside down you expect eddie to thrive and steve to flounder when steve is actually the borderline hypercompetent one in those situations, even at the very start. that's what makes the pairing fun and so few ppl appreciate that bc they just want to force them into overplayed archetypes.

oh it pisses me off when people try to make eddie scholarly. boy is on his third attempt of senior year. like, he’s clearly trying to pass, but he can’t. and that speaks to trouble with class more than eddie just not trying, or teachers purposely holding him back, which i’ve also seen in fics and just doesn’t really make sense to me. i feel like a drug dealer is the kinda student you would want to leave high school lmao

eddie is definitely not the smartest person steve’s knows, and that’s not a bad thing! no one has any trouble making steve out to be the biggest idiot alive, but for some reason people have a hard time making eddie seem dumb. like, i think i’ve mentioned this before but i saw one fic that said steve only passed high school because his dad paid the school or something? to try and make it seem like eddie was better in school and it’s so stupid! there’s nothing wrong with being bad at school, but so many people just can’t seem to accept that eddie is bad at school, and steve was slightly better, considering he passed the first time.

and yeah! eddie’s a pathetic loser, and i love that about him! he’s a 19/20 year old still in school, obsessed with d&d. people who take that loserness away from him ruin his character.

you would expect eddie to really find himself in a real life d&d game, become a badass, but instead he flounders. he can’t handle it. which is a fun contrast to our other geeky characters. and people that try to make eddie the saviour and steve the one that totally looks up to him, is weird. the fun of steddie is that eddie starts out expecting steve to be a douchebag, and yet he ends up as someone he wants to emulate and become. eddie finds out steve is the epitome of a hero, rather than an asshole jock. (and though i don’t doubt that eddie has traits that steve would love, he’s not gonna be really looking up to him as a genius. because that’s just not who eddie is)

(also, this is kinda irrelevant, but it made me think about kas!eddie, and how people always make him super badass and brutal, and i think it would be funny if he was just a failure at that too. like, not very good at fighting, just treats this shit like a d&d game. literally just a hinderance to vecna. not on purpose to help the others. he’s just shit at it lol)

Which of the four Arkham Games did Ed the best?

Hard one between City or Origins. But probably City lol. Only because compared to Origins, Ed is "featured in it more" - hell, he's even the face of the challenges you can do aside from story mode. Which, imo, is pretty awesome. Aside from having, perhaps the best, Riddler design in any media (I've explained why it's so good on my personal) But the characterization was pretty darn good, too. He had a good mix of being taken seriously / being seen as threatening and still having some comedic relief. For example, Eddie telling his men he could take on Batman himself (but clearly can't.) The hostages actually show how frightened they were of Riddler, how dangerous he is (literally stabbing somebody in a leg for not doing what he wanted) And just his whole atmosphere - how he's still mysterious as you only see him on screens... but it's very little. Like usually you only see him if you go to save a hostage (versus Knight where he's just CONSTANTLY talking regardless what you're doing.) Eddie has some pretty cool renders in loading screens and on the challenges menu screens.

I'm gonna start comparisons of him in City versus him in Knight. Why he's much better in City, why I prefer him in City, and why Knight is the worst depiction of Eddie in the four games. (It's no secret on this blog I'm highly critical of Knight's depiction - and how I think it's heavily overrated amongst the fandom)

You see, in Knight... they notched up the comedic relief on him to a 10. In City, you can hear a thug saying, "doesn't that Riddler freak have anything better to do than leave question marks around?" or something very similar to that. Sure, this can be considered a thug being disrespectful of Riddler, but it's also to show the thug simply doesn't understand Riddler - like he doesn't understand what the question marks really are. (That they're something smaller to something much grander) This fits in accordance to the fact Riddler has some mystery to him, he's an enigma the employees cannot understand. Meanwhile in Knight, there's at least two audios (maybe more) of the thugs literally making fun of Eddie. Some implying he's very annoying and wanting him to shut up, and one even saying he's funny. The mystery is gone - Eddie's just somebody to laugh at now rather than being confused by. And plus Ed himself makes a lot more jokes, too. His game over screens had no "jokes" in them, just Eddie having this childlike joy in his voice when Batman loses - which actually made Eddie even more intimidating to see the genuine glee he takes in this. Meanwhile, in Knight, there's a game over screen where Ed expresses his genuine shock that he won - before quickly going "oh yeah, of course. haha." Which, YES - it could be a genuine game over screen commenting on the fact that Riddler finally won after four games. Buuuuut... with the literal goons making fun of Eddie, and practically every other character in this game? It just feels like another "Eddie is pathetic" joke. Especially when all these comments / jokes were used far less in City.

Ed also just tells a lot more jokes that doesn't involve him being "pathetic" either - but still makes it hard to take Ed seriously. As much as I do love it, there's the "mating" joke where he said he'll be mating Batman, then quickly realizing how wrong that sounded. There's him talking about how he's the perfect chef to the point he can make the perfect salad or whatever. And just many more jokes about him being oblivious to how "egotistical" he's being, or whatever. Which yeah, some of these jokes are fitting for Ed's character - as said, some of them were told in City. But the issue becomes when Ed's more jokes than he is serious characterization. I am willing to bet there are more jokes / humorous scenes with Eddie in Knight than there are serious ones. And it highly disappoints me, given that I really dislike depictions where Ed's just a joke and/or seen as pathetic amongst the cast.

Eddie was also far more "stereotypical" in Knight. Like they also turned up his nerdiness + pretentiousness. Which the easiest example of showing this would be, again, to demonstrate with the game over screens.

In City, Eddie still speaks relatively like a real person. He insults people's intelligence, but only by comparing them to animals (or using slurs) The biggest word he uses in these is "primitive." And he doesn't really speak in geek or explain anything here.

See? Compared to the above, he's become much more pretentious. First saying it was a "statistical certainty" - get it? He studied the statistics and knew there was no way he'd lose - the statistics said so! Or the fuckgingngng "Expert Consummate in its Ideal Preparation Methods" what a mouthful! Like Eddie didn't really talk like this in City - but he does in Knight. More examples of him being Rick Sanchez now is also him making fun of religious people (pretty sure he never did that in City) as well as him saying the, ugh, Love is just a ChEmIcAl ReAcTiOn!!! I'm above it!!!! (🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮) Which Eddie in City didn't behave in such a way. At least from all the scenes I can remember (and I have been watching my brother replay City recently, and he got pretty far sooo)

Anyway, Eddie in City was a well rounded character who was mysterious, intimidating, sometimes funny, and sometimes even creepy. In Knight, he's been flanderized, and turned into a complete comedic relief that not even any goon can take seriously. And I had to bring up the bad in Knight to point out how much better Eddie in City was. Knight's design doesn't help. I don't care what anyone says about it being proof he's spiraling into a depression - I don't see it as that. It's just a mechanic design to match the fact that he does race tracks now, and Knight was a more vehicle mission based game compared to the previous installments. You can do Eddie being desperate to beat Batman and spiraling into a depression without turning him into a joke, too.

Origins Eddie is a runnerup, and miiight be just as good as City Ed. Because like City Ed, he was mysterious - hell, to the point where you ONLY see his face if you get a game over screen, or renders outside of the story. Origins Eddie also highly inspired my depiction of Ed, where I got the idea that Ed would see himself as the "good guy." Origins Eddie also had the best pre-Riddler concept of him working at the GCPD in the cybercrime unit. It shows Eddie's intellect without making him a scientist (generic concept for genius characters) and also shows how good he's with computers. Also irony, as he used to work at the police station. Also Eddie, before he was even Riddler, when Batman basically just started, was ALREADY suspecting Bruce was Batman (they should've continued with that imo rather than doubling down on his patheticness in Knight) and the boy got away in the end - he wasn't even there to arrest when you find his location. Reminds me of the ending in Riddler's debut episode from the Animated Series! Very cool! PLUS. PLUS. Origins Eddie had an original design that was different from the iconic Riddler look, all while still feeling like Eddie / something he'd wear. (Unlike Knight Eddie)

Anyway, this got VEEERY long - but I'm a bit more passionate about Arkham Eddie than some Eddies you've asked about. Or, at least, there's just more for me to talk about regarding it than there is, say, regarding 2004 Eddie

Hello friends! I hope you have missed my WTB liveblogs ;) This is 7 x 10, Starlight Memories. 

S7 is kind of rough but not *that* rough because Judith Light is still playing Angela Bower and I am a simple lesbian. However, they were dating other people through much of the first seven episodes and we have a Cousin Oliver child they are now raising together (Billy) - none of which has made me super happy. BUT, 3 minutes into this ep and Tony is planning to invite Angela to a dance and clearly wants to get back to their weird not-married married situation, so this seemed like a great liveblog candidate. cc @fatimagic

So Tony’s gambit is to hide this flyer for the last dance at the Starlight Ballroom before they tear it down in the mail for Angela to find and he’ll ask her to go with him...of course hijinks will ensue!

Billy: “I thought you and Angela were married”  Tony: “Why? What would make you think that?” Billy: “Well, you live together and you like each other.” Tony: “Well, let me tell you something pal, there’s a lot more to being married than that.” Billy: “What do married people do that you and Angela don’t?” Tony: *very long pause to stare at camera* “Look, a giraffe!”

Mona: “I hope this (hiding the flyer in the mail) is his (Billy’s) idea because if it’s yours it’s pathetic.” Tony: “Mona, Mona, Angela and I used to see other people and now were not, and I would just like to ease back into what we had before.” Mona: “Do you mean that vague, unfulfilling, frustrating, immature joke you called a relationship?” Tony: “Yeah. How could we have let that slip away?” So this is played for laughs but by the end of the ep we have the show reinforcing for the millionth time that Tony and Angela’s weird thing really works for them, unconventional though it may be. A big reason this show has resonated for me as a queer person is because it is fundamentally about not caring whether other people understand your unconventional relationship if it makes you happy. (also chosen family) IT IS NOBODY ELSE’S FUCKING BUSINESS!

Oh noooo, a business associate she brought back to the house found the flyer first and he is totally gonna ask her ASJKJSKDL He did and she tried to turn him down hoping Tony would ask her but this dude was like, “If this guy you’re waiting for hasn’t asked you yet he probably isn’t gonna, how long are you going to wait?” I HATE IT HERE!

Honestly I don't blame you 😭 Kakuzu Gaiden is near impossible to find, I only know about it because my Chinese friend told me. The English copy isn't available easily anymore. There are also small tidbits about Hidan in Sasuke Shinden, an official TV drama and the games, which is probably why it's so hard to understand him fully, most of his canon materials are extremely niche and often ignored by fans.

Btw, parental Kakuhida can very much be considered canon, if you trust the VA's to make their own opinions about the characters they portray! In the official radio show with the Naruto VA's, they said that Hidan and Kakuzu were really cute together, like a father and his son. So...yeah, shipping them romantically doesn't sit right with me anymore.

As for the observations I was talking about...oh boy, this is going to be really messed up and creepy, not to mention pathetic. But hey, that's just Hidan in canon. Sorry if this is all too disturbing.

In Naruto SD, often Hidan is portrayed with his hand down his pants. Like, he doesn't care. He just starts doing it no matter where he is. At first it may seem like he's being perverted, but that's not the case. Because in Naruto online, they allow you to make friends with Hidan and give him gifts, and if you give him an Icha Icha novel, he's straight up traumatized.

Hidan doesn't understand what sex or intimacy is even supposed to be! Growing up in a hot springs village meant he was definitely exposed to a lot of sexual and non-sexual nudity even as a child, which likely desensitized him to pleasures of the flesh. Jashinism actively condemning bonding with anyone (and isn't that such a classic cult thing to do, to isolate their victims) certainly didn't help.

One of the main reasons Hidan is often depicted as a masochistic psychopath in fanworks is because of the scenes where his body is clearly having an intense reaction to pain. But that's not what's really happening, here, because Hidan actively says many times that he doesn't like hurting and is seen dissociating for a period after a fatal injury. It's most obvious during his fight with Asuma, he visibly blanks out for a minute on screen. It's actually a common phenomenon that can be noticed in humans in too much pain, their brains spark out and try to compensate for the extreme amounts of pain by falsely inducing a feeling of pleasure. It's....sad, to say the least. Like how a sick cat would purr to itself or a hanged inmate would get an erection in the last moments. To summerize, Hidan doesn't understand sex or intimacy, or what's proper or improper. He only knows that touching himself there feels good, and as a person who's almost always in extreme amounts of pain with no support system to fall back on, he grew to rely on that as a coping mechanism. Now he actively associates it with pleasurable memories. Doesn't mean he has any clue about perverted topics.

Also, Hidan is an extremely lonely individual. He craves human connection, even if he isn't allowed to express that desire, and would even disobey commands of Jashinism in order to please his partner. Not to mention, Hidan, for all his rambunctiousness, canonically has trouble expressing himself or asserting his opinions towards figures of authority, what being in a cult does to an mf. He truly believes that he's supposed to be in pain. He's not used to anyone prioritising his happiness or wellbeing. He definitely doesn't know what's normal and what's abusive. He can't set boundaries, he'll just let you do whatever to him so you wouldn't abandon him, if he loves you. Ugh, his character is so amazing, honestly....I can't fit everything here, I'm so sorry.

So...yeah. you could pair him with Naruto, honestly, kindness incarnate, and that still wouldn't make hardcore BDSM with Hidan ok imo. Does it matter if your partner respects your boundaries when you don't even know how to set one?

Completely unrelated random fun fact : Canonically, Hidan has never received a soft toy in his life. He's visibly perplexed by the existence of plushies. Also he loves getting flowers or chocolates or food in general.... he's easy to please, lol, you just have to feed him and talk to him nicely and he'll love you forever.

P.S: how did you feel about Quotidian? It's probably me being delusional, but near the end it seemed to me Hidan was genuinely in love with Temari but simply didn't have any way of articulating his own feelings. I'm hopelessly in love with him, so sometimes I just wonder how it'd have gone if instead of slicing his throat open, Temari had dropped the kunai and gave him a tight hug. There's a very good chance Hidan has never been touched affectionately like that by anyone in the entirety of his short existence. Ahhhh sorry I'm not normal about him. For once, I really want him to feel safe, happy and loved 💔

An another silly rant: I hate how SOME Kakuzu x Hidan shippers treat Hidan.

Okay okay, tale as old as time, two guy get shipped togedher, and the devoted fandom awakens, deciding in the blink of an eye who they think the bottom is, and from that, you have two ways to go:

2; Shy tsundere.

If you want a bit of an extra spice, you make them a bit insane.

To be fair, these cathegories are harmfull stereotypes either way.

But on the more lighthearted note, they completly ignore the charakters personality either way. Hidan is silly, and adorable, but definently not in this way. This is more in responds to some fanart i saw, but i just look at it and.. Did we read the same manga? Did we watch the same anime?

Oh I wanna share my favourite fantheory. I put it on Twitter a while ago but that was before I had an account here.

It started off joking that seasons in ASOIAF were powered by pure pathetic fallacy but then I convinced myself that it’s actually true. Like I noticed that the link between literal seasons and metaphorical seasons can be a bit heavy hand. Like the long peace between Greyjoy's rebellion and the War of the 5 Kings corresponds almost exactly to the long summer that AGOT is set in. And from what we know about the history this trend more or less carries on back through Westerosi history [This might be outdated now Idk]. My first thought is that it's a coincidence caused by a heavy handed author.

But there's this wet nurses' tale about how when men are good The Great Summer will come and never end. Ofc no one believes it. But the thing is we know a lot of these stories are true or are based on elements of truth. Like the Others, giants and the Children of the Forest. Tyrion jokes about the Great Summer, like he jokes about Grumpkins and Snarks but the threats beyond the wall are very real and certainly by the time he's Hand of the King (imo as early as his journey up to the wall) he's concerned about the threats himself.

GRRM has already Word-of-God-ed that the seasons are based on magic, not some geomechanical or astronomical phenomenon so what is this magic? I don't think it's too much of a reach to theorise, based on this evidence, that it is actually based on the collective behaviour of people. Some magic power feeds on the discord and suffering in society and the power of winter grows and the opposite happens in good times. Maybe the Red Priests are even right about the great cosmic battle between R'hllor and the Great Other. Their magic is certainly real, the only religious intervention to actually do anything in the series. Maybe parts of their worldview is too?

From an authorial point of view it might have been inspired by GRRM's interpretation of the Mandate of Heaven. Who knows, he seems to take inspiration from various religions and cultures. So yeah that's why I think ASOIAF seasons are powered by the unknowing actions of Westerosi society.
