Tommy's shift was grueling, one of the toughest he'd had in ages. Every muscle in his body screamed in agony as he barely managed to reach his car, drive home, and drag himself into the shower. The thought of collapsing into bed and staying there all of the next day weighed heavily on his mind. But as he finally settled in, a knock on the door pulled a frustrated groan from his lips. He considered ignoring it until his phone buzzed. It was a text from Evan: "outside😊"
Summoning the last of his strength, Tommy forced himself out of bed and stumbled to the door. He masked his pain with a forced smile as he opened it to Evan's familiar face. They exchanged warm smiles and a gentle kiss.
"Hey," Tommy greeted, his voice laced with exhaustion.
"Hi," Evan replied softly as he entered, his eyes quickly clouding with concern. He could sense something was off.
Tommy tried to downplay it, but Evan's persistent gaze made it impossible to maintain the facade. "It's been a rough day," Tommy admitted, sighing deeply. "My body's killing me."
Evan, not one to dismiss Tommy's discomfort, suggested a cold bath. Tommy nodded, revealing he had already tried it. They made their way to Tommy's room and sat together on the edge of the bed. "Let me try something," Evan proposed, gently urging Tommy to lie down. He straddled Tommy, his expression serious yet tender. "Show me where it hurts the most."
Tommy hesitated, unsure how this would help, but Evan's left no room for argument. "Just trust me," he said, his voice soft but stern. Tommy pointed out the areas of tension, and Evan's cold hands began to work their magic, massaging the tight knots with deliberate, soothing pressure. Each stroke and press drew small moans and grunts from Tommy, his pain slowly giving way to relief.
"Is this okay?" Evan asked noticing Tommy’s silent enjoyment. A gentle smile curving his lips as he worked.
"Y-Yeah. Yeah, this is... this is great," Tommy murmured, his eyes fluttering shut. He was on the brink of sleep, lulled by Evan's touch, feeling the weight of his day finally lift.

fishlegs’ display of unwavering loyalty to hiccup after everyone turned their backs on him has to be one of the most poignant moments in book 9 for me. the entire scene of him announcing ‘i do not turn. i do not turn… hiccup is still my king. slavemark or no slavemark.’ making sure he was heard by all the other tribes when he did and then bestowing his most prized posession to his best friend as a blessing for luck and as proof of his faith in him, putting the necklace around hiccup’s neck ‘so grandly that it was like he was a hero annointing his king’ because that’s essentially who they were in that moment… and then by the end when hiccup is forced to flee— crying for him and his fate but stubbornly holding on to hope, willing himself to be strong and wearing hiccup’s helmet instead of his own

so many thoughts about the last couple chapters of ff7 rebirth but one thing i love is that the speech aerith gives in the temple of the ancients about looking to the future seems to heavily draw from one of my favourite lines in the og ff7, where tifa tells cloud that she doesn't think aerith ever intended to die, because aerith talked about the future more than any of them. i always loved that tifa understood this about aerith more than even cloud did and i love that they're doing justice to that
