I have a debilitating (and when I say debilitating I mean DEBILITATING) fear of tornadoes and when I move back across country I'm going to have to do it in spring 🙂 in tornado season. 🙂
#trying not to cry just thinking about it#i was white knuckling the safety handle the entire time we were in kansas last time i drove cross country#and that wasnt even tornado season 😭#why is this country like this#why is it so terrifying#if we move in summer or fall we're fighting college students for housing#if we move too close to winter we risk snow storms in the mountain canyons leaving the rockies#i want to crrrryyyyy#driving through snow in Colorado in October PULLING A TRAILER was bad enough last time#we cannot do that again#but if we end up in the vicinity of a tornado while moving i will be crying hysterically#personal

Question since this has been running though my brain about D2 food: what do you think the usual cuisine would be?
I’ve been thinking of what to have at the harvest festival for the trio in the Capitol and nothing is coming to mind outside of prickly pear but I stole that from Jocelyn lol (THG Encyclopedia)
This a super good question! I grew up in Northwest Colorado so I can only answer for that portion for certain (I do live on the Front Range in CO now). For the portions in New Mexico I would say prickly pear would def be popular because it grows very well there.
As for the mountains, not much grows here because the winter is 6 months long (like snow on the ground in October which doesn’t melt until April, so the ground is not arable for half the year). However, a lot of my friends used to hunt deer, elk, and grouse, so those could be popular (that’s assuming beef shipped from D10 is considered a luxury). We also have some berries (thimble berries and sarvisberries shown below) that grow in the wild.
Some edible plants like pine and dandelions do well in the region where I live, but most gardens fail because the only time it doesn’t get below freezing at night is late June through late August.
There are peach and wine vineyards in the far west of CO (where the Mojave desert starts) so those may be still available.
However, in the front range (central and eastern CO) it is very different. It’s a lot warmer and lower elevation, so crops like wheat and corn can grow.
But for cuisine, I would say food is heavily inspired by specifically Mexican and New Mexican (which includes a mix Pueblo Native American and Mexican influences) cuisine. Especially in the southern part of D2. The two things I can think of specifically are pork chili verde and huevos rancheros.
But I do think the cuisine has been influenced by what is available. So in the quarry towns in the mountainous north, food is much blander because they cannot grow chiles or any type of herbs/spices because the soil is frozen for a decent amount of the year.
I hope this answered your question! And thank you so so much for the ask!

TOA Anniversary Munday
thank you neffi for this template!!!
Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don't reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here's to many more years spent together.
Name: ruaidhrí (said pretty much like the english name rory and if you want to spell it that way that's fine too, ik irish names throw people off)
Pronouns: he/him
Birthday (no year): 25th of october!
Where are you from? What is your time zone? i live in colorado and my timezone is MST
How long is your roleplay experience? i don't know exactly how many years since i sometimes have years where h don't rp but i've been rping on and off since i was 11-12.
How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? oh gosh, so ff.net used to have (maybe still has, i literally have not been on that site in ages) these like... forums? and i joined one for elder scrolls rp a little after oblivion came out. i was far and away the youngest one there but everyone was so nice in helping me turn my character into a proper oc with like... backstory, a real personality, etc. after that, i spent a lot of time using it to try and grow my creative writing skills.
How were you introduced to TOA? honestly i just stumbled across it randomly! i had just replayed a few fe games and was looking through some tags and thought it might be fun to try fire emblem rp (i'd done some on indie tumblr back in the day, as well as in an mfrp a little bit, but never fire emblem exclusive rp) so i sent arden to check it out and, well, here we still are.
Do you have any pets? simon (mini poodle), john hancock (tabby cat), and tim & geeb (fluffy black cats)
What is your favorite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) early spring! i also like late fall for its temperature, but i dislike snow/sleet/wet socks so spring is preferable because it's not very snowy here!
What is your IRL occupation? blessedly unemployed (health issues have prevented me from working aha)... i used to work IT though!
Some interests and things you like/enjoy? i like birdwatching, reading academic articles about ancient civilizations, and making espresso drinks
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? currently enjoying bg3 + doing a dragon age replay (in preparation for veilguard). outside current, i really like most single-player rpg type games (esp. with customizable character), stealth games (dishonored favorite), and Identity V is the first asymmetrical horror mobile game developed by NetEase for
Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: my favorite pokemon ever is alakazam (and its whole line) i've loved alakazam foreverrrrr! favorite type is steel, though! apart from my psychic baby most of my other favs tend to be steel types
Tell us some funfacts and trivia about yourself! oh gosh i'm so bad at fun facts...
- i can put both my feet behind my head but i can't touch my toes - my favorite non-ancient empire to read about is austria-hungary - my cat tim was rescued from Outside
How did you get into Fire Emblem? friend's cool older brother was playing a bunch of the games in a seemingly random order. when i'd hang out at that friend's house sometimes we'd sit and watch. i asked him to lend me some and he did!
What Fire Emblem games have you played? i have now played all of them! (last year when i answered this i hadn't technically played them all, but i'd seen playthroughs and watched let's plays of all of them at the very least)
First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: a bad translation of fe4 was first, por is still my favorite—but tbh there's not really one i dislike
List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! - KNOLL (promoted to number one he's my special guy) - reyson - canas - ashnard - pandreo
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! QUAN—i have such a distinct memory of seeing him come in but i don't remember my initial thought, only that he would have my heart forever
Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳 vander. duessel. hardin.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? - Awakening: first was sumia! i don't have a set nowadays because i've done a different one on each playthrough - Fates: first was xander, would probably still do xander if i were to replay - Three Houses: first was seteth, if i replay i'll go for hanneman - Engage: first was pandreo! next time i plan to do ivy though
Favorite Fire Emblem class? i like shapeshifter classes! beasts, dragons, laguz, etc. i just think they're fun to play with
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? oh gosh, i'd be an infantry axe unit probably. middling starting stats but high growths if you really work at making me good (there would be heated debates over whether the necessary time investment would be worth it)
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? black eagles!
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? axe boon, heavy armor bane, budding talent in faith magic (could be classed into an fe:a style war cleric and it would be my suggested goal)
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? i want to say brodia!
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔 toh-ah
Current TOA muses: just knoll <3
Past TOA muses? robin, niles, almedha, reyson, hardin, iago, perceval, lachesis (i think that's all?)
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? my first muse was m!robin and thankfully i am spared any temptation on picking him up as he is currently being written.
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) i'm kind of all over the place, aren't i? i like characters where i can poke at hidden depths but ones who aren't too closely guarded. i like characters who are shy, withdrawn, standoffish, guarded, etc. in some way but who open up when spoken to. i don't think this has changed since last year, i've been writing for a long time and kind of know my comfort zone.
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? boisterous/loud and over the top characters always challenge me, but i've never really managed to make them work, which is a shame because i tend to enjoy lively characters!
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) -i love writing threads where setting/scenery is a focus, where i get to sort of use the landscape as a bit more than set-dressing - i enjoy throwing my muse at characters who mistrust him for whatever reason, and like to explore the kind of slow, mutual understanding that comes from two people getting to know one another - i really just like putting him in situations in general, forcing him to socialize—he's a very withdrawn character so any excuse to have him meet new people is very enjoyable
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? nothing specific! i have kind of an arc for him but it's loosely-defined right now
Favorite TOA-related memories? HAPPYLAND WAS SO MUCH FUN. sincerely i loved the interactions he had there <3
Present or past tense? i default to present, but adapt to what my partner prefers on this!
Normal size text, small text, no preference? small text, bolded dialogue. just easier for my eyes to take it in that way.
Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 oh gosh. i recently had to go down to just one muse because my health is not so good, but i will admit i already have a few delusions. if i can get myself back to a spot where i feel like i can write a second, someone may return.

rabbithaver's patented introduction poast
adorable art of chirp and silver by @y2khaos <3
hi there! my name is Rabbit! i am a silly purple snow leopard guy from Colorado. i'm gendervoid pansexual and i use they/them pronouns. as of October 6, i am 27 years old, but i've been on this website since i was 14, so... something something "aging tumblr userbase." between severe chronic back pain, fatigue issues, hearing loss, and a variety of mental illnesses, i can't work, so i have a lot of free time and very little money. oh, and i've been dating Seán @pacifistcowboy since October 19 <3 he'll come back to tumblr some day!
right now i'm hyperfixating really intensely on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. i started calling myself Silver the hedgehog's dad as like, a joke, but it stopped being a joke months ago. that's my biological son. i know he's a fiercely independent warrior, but i can't help it — i just wanna keep him safe and provide for him so he doesn't have to be so alone. he deserves to experience having parents... and now he does. Seán and i are raising him <3
i am also into Star Trek, Fallout, the Elder Scrolls, Pacific Rim, Supernatural, and like four hundred other things. if you're also into any of those things, i have great news for you: you're gonna see a lot of them on this blog.
also, if you even think about asking me about discourse, i will zap you with my incredible laser eyes. i have so much anxiety and no money! i do not have the energy to care about what other people on the internet are doing!
LINKS WORTH CHECKING OUT + MY TAGS
my '#bunnies' tag is where i post pictures of my pet rabbits! i also have a dedicated '#bun tag' for bunny picture reblogs. if you're having a bad day i recommend scrolling through both.
old photos of my pets can be found in my '#terin.pets' tag!
wanna know more about me? posts that resonate with me go in my '#about me' tag.
check out my fursona's google document! chirp is a purple snow leopard and also what i look like irl :)
read about my main Sonic OC, Oracle! you can also read some of my posts about her and her story in my '#omenhunter au' tag!
i live in a state where recreational marijuana is legal, and i sometimes partake as self-medication for my anxiety. if you don't want to see my posts about marijuana consumption, blacklist the tag 'rabbit eats grass.'
MY VARIOUS SIDE BLOGS:
@bumblekastclips is my sideblog where i transcribe BumbleKast questions! if you're into Sonic stuff, check it out!
@lawyerenjoyer is my retired Ace Attorney sideblog. i didn't post there often enough to justify having a side blog for AA lmao

Summer sea ice in the Arctic could melt almost completely by the 2030s—roughly a decade earlier than projected—even if humans cut back drastically on greenhouse gas emissions, new research suggests.
“We are very quickly about to lose the Arctic summer sea-ice cover, basically independent of what we are doing,” Dirk Notz, a climate scientist at the University of Hamburg in Germany tells the New York Times’ Raymond Zhong. “We’ve been waiting too long now to do something about climate change to still protect the remaining ice.”
An ice-free summer, also called a “blue ocean event,” will happen when the sea ice drops below one million square kilometers (386,102 square miles), writes Jonathan Bamber, a professor of physical geography at the University of Bristol, in the Conversation. This equates to just 15 percent of the Arctic’s seasonal minimum ice cover of the late 1970s, per the Times.
Previous assessments using models have estimated an ice-free summer under high and intermediate emissions scenarios by 2050. But researchers noticed differences between what climate models predicted about what would happen to sea ice and what they've actually seen through observations, according to Bob Weber of the Canadian Press. "The models, on average, underestimate sea ice decline compared with observations," says Nathan Gillett, an environment and climate change Canada scientist, to Weber.
Now, in a new study published in Nature Communications, Notz, Gillett and their colleagues tweaked these models to more closely fit satellite data collected over the past 40 years. Using these modified models, the researchers projected ice changes under different possible levels of greenhouse gas emissions. Their paper suggests that regardless of emissions scenario, “we may experience an unprecedented ice-free Arctic climate in the next decade or two.” Under a high emissions scenario, the Arctic could see a sustained loss of sea ice from August until as late as October before the 2080s, lead author Seung-Ki Min, a climate scientist at Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea, tells CNN’s Rachel Ramirez.
While sea ice naturally shrinks in the summer and refreezes during the winter, summer ice coverage has steadily been declining over the past few decades because of climate change. And Arctic ice melting accelerates itself—as ice disappears, it exposes more of the dark blue ocean, which absorbs more heat and leads to more melting. This process, known as Arctic amplification, has led to the region warming nearly four times faster than the rest of the globe since 1979.
Sea ice decline could have catastrophic consequences that extend to the rest of the planet, including sea level rise and disruption to weather patterns and ecosystems. Animals like polar bears and seals that rely on Arctic ice to survive could be placed at risk.
“It’s already happening,” Mark C. Serreze, the director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado Boulder who was not involved with the new research, tells the Times. “And as the Arctic continues to lose its ice, those impacts will grow and grow and grow.”

[ sydney sweeney, demiwoman, she/they ] — whoa! HOPE DEVON just stole my cab! not cool, but maybe they needed it more. they have lived in the city for FOUR YEARS, working as a/an BARTENDER. that can’t be easy, especially at only 26 YEARS OLD. some people say they can be a little bit UNFASTENED and TENTIE , but i know them to be INTREPID and PERSPICACIOUS. whatever. i guess i’ll catch the next cab. hope they like the ride back to BROOKLYN!
name : marilyn hope devon. alias : devon. age : 25. birthday : october 26th. place of birth : aspen, colorado. gender & pronouns : demi woman + she/they. marital status : single. orientation : pansexual. occupation : bartender. residence : brooklyn, new york. parents : andrew desmond devon & sheree marie devon. siblings : jacqueline wonder devon (d. 2010). children : none. faceclaim : sydney sweeney. distinguishing features : a scar along her neck. see : coffee, taken and savored, smoke coming from an alleyway, snorts of laughter barely hidden, saturday afternoon thrift shopping, tequila in a freezer, girlfriends on speaker. missed therapy appointments.
you’re a handful as a child, little feet running around the trailer you call home, rushing into the arms of your mother, your father and anyone else who happens to come around. your childhood is full of laughter and warmth, and even more so after your parents have their second, your little baby sister. you're five when she's brought home, all bundled up and immediately you love her more than anything else.
it's a regular day when it happens, snow has fallen, your father has off work and he decides to take the two of you snow sledding. he's had a few but that's normal too. you don't remember the crash, just bits and pieces. the cold, the sharp pain across your neck, the red hitting white and the screams of your father.
it's that day, in the snow, that your sister dies. and it seems like everything dies with her. the laughter you used to know? gone. as is the warmth. your mother blames her father though she doesn't say it. your father blames himself too. the few beers that he used to have periodically become an everyday thing and you soon have to walk on eggshells.
by the time you're eighteen you've become withdrawn, demure, you keep your head down, do what you're supposed to and have made yourself small. it does change though. by the time you've managed to scramble up some money for classes and a place of your own you've bloomed.
cut to seven years later and you've made a home in new york. carved a little life out for yourself. it's not perfect, but it's something.

Can u tell me some stuff about Quebec?
wanna give her a cameo in an fic
Hey! So first of all, YESS!
Now, you weren’t quite precise in your ask, so imma share a variety of my own headcanons to give you some more info^^
Physically:
She has middle back long, slightly curled deep brown hair, with copper reflect in the summer, and the crystal-clear blue eyes you can imagine (when she’s angry her eyes become more white than blue, and the air is way colder than before). Her skin is pale, pinkish on the nose and cheeks in the winter, and she got some freckles. In autumn, her hair is redder and more blond than brown (leaves changing colour) when she’s in the south of the province.
Her body temperature is usually colder than any of the Northeast States and lower the more she is north in her province (the only state who share the same temperature is Alaska). Now, during the summer, depending on what’s going on, she can get as warm as the lower east coast state when she has wildfire. If she had tornadoes, she’s physically frazzled, and if it’s flood, her skin takes a greenish or bluish tint. If it’s a good summer (no fire, tornadoes, or floods) she has a good temperature, around the same as the Northeast states.
For her clothes, from Automn to spring (October to April), it’s usually a t-shirt under a flannel, a toque (beanie) or earmuff, jeans, mittens, and converse (boots if there’s snow). Her shirt is usually a HABs shirt (Montreal Canadian hockey team), especially during hockey season, her flannel dark blue or bright red, and her toque vary. Sometime is a blue one with her name on it, other times a white one with a pompom, or it’s a Nordiques de Québec one (Québec City hockey team before they were bought by Colorado and became the Avalanche).
During the summer, it’s usually capri pants or long shorts, a tank top or t-shirt, a cap (usually a Buffalo bills one, or Jersey Devil after she started her relationship with NJ), and sunglasses. Sometimes she wears flip-flops, other times sandals, depends on her mood and where she’s going. She’s a fervent user of sunscreen and always got water on her.
Character:
Honestly, depends on the situation. She can be a real Bitch if she wants to, mainly with the other province when they attack her (usually the wests ones). She’s a mom friend if she knows you and care about you and will make fun of you if you embarrass yourself with her (she respects boundaries tho). She knows her worth and is incredibly stubborn when she wants to. If you dare compare her to France she’ll make you regret it and she is really proud of her culture (never says Poutine was made anywhere else than in Québec, she and I will fight you about it). She’s always happy to teach people French and if you respect her she’ll respect you.
She’s polite meeting new people and like to share culture; she’ll judge you if you do something stupid though.
Concerning religion, she’s a little lost. When she became New France, in the 1500s, she was divided between the Catholics and Natives spirituality (usually animist) before staying Catholic. Then, during the Quiet Revolution in the 60s, Québécois rejected religion, and made the government secular (not linked to religion). So, I believe she’ll be mainly Agnostic, for mostly only the oldest generations (Boomer and older) are church goers.
Relationship:
Now, her relationship is carved from centuries of existence and experience and differ from if they’re Canadian or not.
Canadian provinces and Territories:
She’s *friendly* with New Brunswick and Nunavut, but don’t really speak with Prince Edward Island or Nova Scotia. She’s extremely supportive of Newfoundland and Labrador (Trans man) and has a great relationship of mutual respect with Northwest Territories (They’re as old as the other and have known each other for a long time).
Concerning Ontario it’s more of an indifferent to *I kind of care about you* relationship. They don’t agree about a lot of things and usually snap each other (Ontarian drivers are terrible, I swear), but they will support each other when the West become snappy at them.
Québec barely care about Manitoba (the feeling’s mutual) and Yukon (they don’t know each other well).
Now, for the West province, well, its complicated. British Columbia is a bitch most of the time because she likes to rile up other people. Québec respect her because she’s alone on the other side of the Rockies and is the oldest Western province, and as women alone on their own for a long time of their existence, they both respect each other. It doesn’t stop BC from having terrible social skills (except when she’s high, then she’s like a hippie and is nicer while also staying passive-aggressive).
Now, Alberta and Saskatchewan are twins; they share the same Province day and are only older than Nunavut. Saskatchewan is the nicest one, but still resent Québec for trying to separate in the 70s. Alberta uses Québec to blame most of her problem; the French province is far from her, refuse to speak to her in English, and well, Québec doesn’t care about them most of the time. To her they are children, who doesn’t understand her, or even try to get her point of view, so she won’t fight them about it.
Concerning the states:
I wrote about QC and Alaska and their relationship in I've tried to put this all behind me (I think I was wrecked all along), but in short they met during the New France era, when Alaska was still owned by Russia, and became close friends despite the language barrier. They met again because of Maine.
For the Northeast, Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas, I already share some of it in my fic Five times Québec helped a Northeast State. I headcanon her as on the Aromantic spectrum (Gray or Demi) and Pansexual, and she slept with PA, NH, and Vermont before they settled down (NH with Vermont and PA with Ohio). She and Jersey have a together/not together relationship (really you need to read the fic to get it) and she’s married to NY (QPR).
Maine is like her brother, Connecticut, NH, and Vermont her close friends, and the rest are her friends. She loves Virginia and their ability to bring the other back in order when they get too chaotic. Mass, PA and she are always ready to fight each other concerning hockey (they were pissed when tempa won two Stanley cup), and she likes to watch Rhode Island kick someone’s butt.
For the other southern states, well they helped her out when Britain ordered her captured (before her wedding to NY) and she always liked them for that.
Finally, Louisiana. I didn’t present their relationship yet, but I’m working on their fic.
Louie resent her. It’s not conscious, more something they both refused to acknowledge, really. He didn’t know that, when they were separated, she was sold to the British while France sold him to Spain. He resent her because she never tried to get to him, or get him back, and how she never helped him from Spain treatment.
I’m waiting to write those two, so yeah.
That was it! You got me to write a story, omg. If you have any question hit me up^^

Like a Winter Monsoon!
Mar. 18, 2024
The weather is quite unusual today. being described as "unsettled" by the news. The pattern is similar to a monsoon, but monsoon season is still two months away. The electrified clouds in the sky have been reminiscent of the tropical moisture in the desert sky in summer.
A previously unforecast system is bringing rain to Southern California and Arizona today, coming up from the southeast in a reversed jet stream pattern, like the summer monsoon. Unlike the monsoon, it's cold out and the rain is falling as snow in many places.
We have noticed great troubles in the flight grid lately as a result of the Denver expedition in October. The high OR is decimating the trails behind the craft, indicating major disruptions. We've also seen the weather results, with some places in Colorado getting more than four feet of snow last week.
This unusual rain, which is also bringing isolated thunderstorms, seems more connected with the Albuquerque and Tucson portion of the gifting expedition, as was the rainier winter with slightly warmer temperatures we experienced. The jet stream has been much more from due west without interference, which is a restoration of the natural atmospheric conditions. This makes the weather more rainy and temperate, rather than getting an arctic blast from the north, or the systems missing California altogether, which was the way it was before the OR grid was in place.
We received a sudden OR rain in early evening along with a change in the wind which once again came from the west with a few gusts as large rain drops began to fall. This is definitely a new experience as we observe more new conditions in the atmosphere we have not seen before in our time.

10/26/2023
An abrupt weather change to fog and mist - very un-Colorado-like - and a bite in the air, too: Prelude to a wintry weekend.
I can barely hear a very persistent cricket outside, chanting away - we have a freeze warning tonight, followed by snow this weekend, so it’s most likely my last cricket serenade for 2023. This is what happens - is supposed to happen - in late October.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, AZ (No. 8)
Glen Canyon Dam's most vital purpose is to provide storage to ensure enough water flows from the Upper Colorado River Basin to the lower, especially in drought years. The 1922 Colorado River Compact requires annual delivery of 7.5 million acre-feet (9.3 km3) to the Lower Basin states of Arizona, California and Nevada; the 1944 treaty with Mexico obligates the U.S. to allow at least 1.5 million acre-feet (1.9 km3) for use in the Mexican states of Baja California and Sonora. Glen Canyon Dam must supply at least 8.23 million acre-feet (10.15 km3) of this water; the remaining 770,000 acre-feet (0.95 km3) comes from other tributaries of the Colorado River.[125] The required release from Glen Canyon is averaged over a 10-year period, so releases in each year may be higher or lower depending on the amount of runoff. In wetter years, the Bureau of Reclamation may decide to release extra water from Glen Canyon Dam if the level of Lake Powell exceeds the "equalization tier", an elevation determined by the difference in storage between Lake Powell and Lake Mead.
Most of Lake Powell's inflow originates as summer snowmelt from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Releases are made over a water year of October 1–September 30, since the annual snowpack begins to accumulate in late autumn. On April 1 of each year, the Bureau of Reclamation releases its official forecast of the April–July (snowmelt season) runoff, and adjusts releases from Glen Canyon Dam accordingly to maintain Lake Powell at a safe level. An accurate forecast is vital to prevent uncontrolled spilling, which would waste water that could have been used for power generation. Although the snowpack typically reaches its peak and begins to melt in April, the picture can occasionally change unexpectedly and dramatically – either due to a hot and dry spring that evaporates snow before it can melt, or an extremely wet spring as occurred in May 1983. After the near disaster in 1983, the USBR has maintained a minimum of 2.4 million acre-feet (3.0 km3) of flood-storage space in Lake Powell at the beginning of each year, to guard against unanticipated high runoff.

Ghost races? 😂 You added two?
Do you have a favorite scene that you can talk about? 👀 Or one you look forward to us reading?
(I fish for content sorry 😂)
well yeah more in the sense that the timeline doesn't really add up. i looked at it after writing and realised i wrote scenes happening at a triple header around october (so us/mexico/brazil) and then after that there's another scene (sure, las vegas) and then another one (...sure, abu dhabi) and then.... two more. and then boom winter break. none of these are in any way described in detail or there's no, like, race results being part of the fic but it's just scenes happening At Races.
oooo vani's favorite scene is probably the wall scene and then the pool scene. i think from a writing style angle, the bonfire scene is definitely my favorite. i played in really nicely with the environment there. the leaves/fire/mountain mention comes back a few times in this scene and it ties it together nicely!
The air is crisp, a handful of crickets rub their wings against each other to make a chirping sound, a breeze passes by the two of them. The stars are looking at them, shining down in all the shapes they make. It’s not the only light source — the bonfire besides them is still simmering from its latest refill of wood. The logs crack occasionally, but it’s not loud enough to be a scare. It’s comfortable like this, late in the evening in the backyard of Lewis’ cabin in Colorado. It’s safe, he thinks, being so far up in the mountains. Like every thought he’d share is kept in between the big rocks, the snow on top of the highest ones, the trees absorbing the sounds and holding the secrets in the leaves. “It’s not too bad to be a vampire. Most of the time,” Lewis says, a confession to the stars and the rocks and the trees. His head lays on Max’s chest, legs between Max’s, his arms crossed and touching Max’s fingers on his biceps. Max’s hands are warm, the fabric of his sweatpants is soft and he moves up and down with the drag of Max’s breathing. It’s grounding, really.
i look forward to you guys reading the entire thing. like there's not a scene in here that can exist without another one. it's such a wonderfully full story, in terms of plot, character growth, relationship development, other characters... i dunno. i'm just really proud of her already.
