Tumblr media
You were standing by the large window.
The castle’s walls seemed to surround you.
The windows let out on a long stretch of fields leading to the border of the woods.
Since your fallen angel left, it has been three hours  since Jungkook disappeared. Three more hours without food; three hours without hearing news or seeing anyone besides the servants running around like little heads in a tornado.
It made you restless.
Your legs started moving before your mind did. The white dress was fluttering behind you while you walked through the corridor.
It’s been three hours.
Three more hours and no updates. Your thoughts were racing and your stomach was growling. But there was nothing you could do, nothing you can say, until Jungkook returns.
As you turned the corner into the hall where the servants and guards resided, you stopped suddenly. Something was wrong.
You frowned.
As you neared the palace exit, a witch-maid stopped you before you can leave further.
“I’m sorry, my queen but the king didn’t allowed you to leave the castle for safety reasons. We still are under attack,”  the female servant said apologetically. “Please return to your chambers.”
She tried to take your hands, which you quickly pushed away.
What were they thinking?
That Jungkook would come back in less than ten minutes?
No. Jungkook wouldn’t. Not now.
He is probably dead. Killed by vampires, maybe. Maybe captured in battle and taken prisoner. What if he got hurt?
No. He’d never let a vampire touch him unless…unless…
You ran outside and searched in every part of the grounds. No sign of him anywhere.
Then why the hell haven’t you heard anything yet?!
‘I’m not letting any vampire near my guard,’ you thought fiercely. ‘And if they do get near my angel, I swear to God...’
Looking up, the sun is barely visible. A thin veil of clouds covering half the sky, dark grey.
There was no sign of any vampire in sight.
Where the heck is everyone if there is attack?!
Tears welled in your eyes as you sat down on the ground and leaned your back against the stone wall of the castle’s exterior. There was a small pond a few meters to your side, a beautiful blue lake reflecting the sky above it. The moon was hidden behind the clouds, casting an eery orange light over everything in the vicinity.
Your heart was beating fast, threatening to burst through your ribcage. Tears stinging your eyelids, you felt your cheeks getting wet.
You wiped your tears off angrily. You are being foolish.
Jungkook wouldn't be dead. He can fight for himself but he knows how much you love him and if something happened to him…
Oh god, please don't let something happen to him. He’s strong but he's too young to die. Please God, let him be okay. Let him survive.

Jungkook’s POV
The sun was setting when Jungkook flew over the woods of his territory with his sword in hand, prepared to defend his home.
As he descended closer, he noticed many vampires fighting against the guards on the other end of the forest clearing.
With the sharp edge of his sword ready to strike, he landed heavily between several vampires, sending them flying to different parts of the field.
His presence was enough to scare most of them away, leaving two vampires with their backs turned towards him who weren’t afraid of him whatsoever.
Without hesitation Jungkook lunged forward with his sword and stabbed one of the vampires in the back with all his force.
His opponent fell, unconscious and bleeding, but still alive.
Jungkook ignored him as he jumped to the other vampire, slashing his blade across his throat before landing behind the first one again to stab him in the back.
Two vampires had surrounded Jungkook.
One with blonde hair, the other with red. They charged at him simultaneously.
Jungkook dodged each of them with ease.
Suddenly, the blood lust filled air vanished.
A cold, piercing sound echoed through the forest.
In a matter of seconds, the second vampire was dead. His eyes staring wide open as if asking for help and pain. The red head also fell lifelessly onto the ground.
Blood flowing from his neck, he didn’t have a chance to scream.
Slicing remaining vampires in half, the blood was the only thing left on him when he finally finished. Seeing his guards dead, he could only  watch them fall and the bodies turn pale and gray, their skin wrinkling and turning into dust.
The other vampires that were still around looked at him with horror and shock.
They wanted to run. They wanted to kill him.
But they couldn’t move, not a single muscle in their bodies dared to move; not even their hearts.
“You’ve been warned,” he snarled,” Attack what’s mine again, you will be taken as my trophies  for all eternity."
The vampires began fleeing after that, screaming in fear and terror.
Jungkook took out the swords he used in the fight, sheathing them neatly once again, before turning to look around.
Death’s  scent was everywhere. Blood was smeared everywhere, along with some pieces of flesh scattered throughout the area.
The bodies of his guards lay sprawled all over the ground. Their faces twisted and bloody, covered in dirt.
Jungkook closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath.
Now since the danger was gone, the only thought on his mind was you.
When he opened his eyes, he could already see you.
You were walking out of the forest, your face pale and frightened.
He didn’t need to look at you to know that the blood from these deaths must have affected you greatly. As if sensing him, your eyes met his, a look of complete devastation and sorrow filling their depths.
“Jungkook,” you whispered in fear, looking around the field as though searching for enemy still lurking by but there was no one left alive except for the king himself.
His jaw clenched when he spotted you, knowing you have disobeyed his order for you to stay at the castle. His guards haven’t stopped you from leaving and now you’re here, in the middle of the battlefield which is no place for someone like you.
Looking like an angel in a white dress, Jungkook looked ready to kill again when you slowly approached  him.
The wind was playing with his raven hair, dancing through his bangs and causing small droplets of sweat to roll down his body.
He looked like a predator waiting for its prey to come close and bite it.
Your gaze flickered between the corpses laid on the ground, their eyes frozen in fear and pain.
Y/n POV
Seeing your angel in the middle of that made you realize how strong he really is.
The blood was on his armor and even his face scarf. His eyes were the only thing holding you steady as you dared to walk forward.
His chest was rising up and down.
“What are you doing here, princess?”  he asked harshly, making your body shiver.
You looked down at the ground, ashamed of yourself.
Why were you so careless? You shouldn’t be here! It’s dangerous. Too dangerous to be out here alone!
How long have you been standing here? Did you hear the screams of vampires earlier? Did you hear them running away?
Did you hear them dying? Did you understand what was happening?
Your hands trembled as you looked at the bodies laying on the floor; lifeless.
“Answer me.”
He didn’t wait for a response, he grabbed your chin roughly, forcing your eyes to meet his.
“Princess. Why are you here? Answer me.”
You didn’t answer right away. Your heart thumping painfully inside your chest.
After a moment, you answered in a weak voice, “I just wanted to go for a little walk. I lost track of time and ended up here.”
His grip on your chin tightened and his lips curved in anger.
“You’re such a liar, love.”
Before you know, he kneels in front of you. Putting his sword on the ground, he takes your hands in his.
“You shouldn’t be here. What you did was dangerous. How can I protect you when you don’t listen to me? You would have been captured on the way here, possibly killed by those bloodsucking monsters!”
“I’m sorry Jungkook. But I just wanted to make sure no one hurt you. I know you can defend yourself just fine but…”
“It doesn’t stop you from worrying. And I appreciate it very much, but you don’t have to do this. I am stronger than these creatures.”
“But you don’t always have to be. You’ll get attacked by them sooner or later, you know. You won't be able to take them down with a sword on your own. Sooner or later, they'll find you.”
“No they won’t. This forest is protected by powerful magic. My kingdom is safe as long I’m here.” He explained, trying to reassure you.
“But not enough to attack this place?” You inquired quietly.
“Someone tipped me off. That’s why they got inside. No one without my magic permission can go through the barrier of this land. Its separates the human world.”
“So they can still be out there and continue to attack,”  you said bitterly.
“That’s why I must kill them all.” Jungkook declared, determination in his voice.
Tears welled up in your eyes, threatening to escape and fall down your cheeks at any moment.
You quickly wiped away any evidence of your weakness before looking into his eyes with a determined look of your own.
Before you can chicken out, you step closer to him when he is back to standing position. His eyes darken when he notices the movement, his nostrils flaring when your scent washes over with the death smell all over the field.
It was like a flower has bloomed in the middle of the grave, filling his whole being with the sweet fragrance of your happiness and life.
You stood on your tiptoes while he stood on his, looking at him intently in the eyes.
His gaze never wavers. Neither does yours.
Neither of you breaks eye contact until finally you pull him towards you, hooking one finger underneath his mask, playing with the seam of the fabric slowly.
“What are you doing, darling?” His voice is husky, full of desire for you even it was wrong in that moment.
How can you touch him like this after he has slaughtered every vampire? He had blood on his hands and corpses still laid all around you so how come you’re not afraid to touch him?
“Making sure you’re not hurt,” you whisper, lifting his mask to reveal a strong jawline who can cut steel and lips that look tempting yet deadly.
He stares back at you, the intensity in his eyes making you want to drown in his eyes forever. He grabs your waist, pulling you against him tightly, his hand caressing your lower back, the heat of his palm seeping through the thin cloth of your dress.
“You’re making this harder for me, princess. You can’t stay here longer. It’s dangerous,”  he says softly, leaning closer to you, his hot breath fanning your cold skin as he whispers.
"I don’t care.” You say, closing the gap between your lips and pressing them softly onto his.
At first, he tried to push you away.
But the minute you parted your lips to deepen the kiss, he gave up.
As your tongue ran along his bottom lip, tasting each other, you wrapped your arms around his neck while he gripped both sides of your waist.
He lifted you easily in his arm and you placed your legs around his hips, holding on tightly when you felt yourself getting dizzy and lightheaded.
Lifting up into the sky, you almost scream when you realize that he has intended to fly you back to the castle. His wings even through the mist shine with the specks of light that peeked from the clouds.
Not daring to look down because of your fear of heights, some minutes later you brace yourself for landing when he flaps his wings to stop his  speed abruptly, causing you to cling onto him like a koala.
When he puts you down gently on your feet, you let out a soft sigh of relief.
Jungkook pulled you in his arms, cradling you close and soothing you as best he could.
“I’m sorry, baby. Didn’t want to startle you like that. I just can’t imagine you walking through that mess.  It must have been terrifying.” He whispered tenderly, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
You leaned into his touch, melting at the sound of his deep, rumbling voice calling you baby in that loving way of his, feeling warmth blossom inside your chest.
Feeling safe. Protected.
“You need to stay indoors while I go back to finish the job. Someone still can be lurking in the shadows and watching us so we have to take precautions,”  he says sternly, grabbing the hilt of his sword and taking a few steps backward as he looked behind him.
“Come back to me safe, please.” You pleaded.
He sighed as he turned around, walking towards you again.
He reached out to caress your cheek once more before giving you a soft smile.
“I promise you.”
You nodded as he took off with a flap of his wings. The air surrounding him seemed to shimmer with an ethereal glow, the wind caressing his skin like a lover as his figure disappears among the thick mist in the distance.

Capturing a Dream
Chapter 1 - Meeting the Team
This was it.  She was excited.  No excited wasn’t the word.  Terrified? Yeah, that was closer.  Marinette was about to step into the Young Justice base for the first time and meet her new teammates.  What if they don’t like her?  What if they don’t let her join the team?  What if they let her join the team but they exclude her?  What if they get mad at her because she won’t expose her identity and they think she doesn’t trust them?  What if she messes up and she ends up getting someone killed?  What if she gets one of her teammates killed? What if she gets someone else killed? What if… No!
She wasn’t going to do that.  She wasn’t the same 14 year old girl who spiraled into anxiety-induced, worst-case-scenario, death spirals.  She was 17 now.  She was in her final year of school before college, nearly an adult, legally, she was an adult.  She was the Guardian.  She was a hero.  She was already in a prestigious internship with one of the biggest names in fashion.  She was working with the Justice League, well Young Justice, but that was better because there wasn’t as much of a time commitment, which was really good because she didn’t have much to spare… where was she going with this? Right!  She was smart.  She was competent.  She was confident(ish).  She was… standing outside the zeta tube opening staring at it like an idiot, and she was going to be late.
She took a deep breath and ran her free hand over the costume she wasn’t quite used to yet, trying to find comfort in the feeling and focus her mind.  She could do this.  She may no longer be able to be Ladybug for secrecy reasons, but Ladybug wasn’t her only option.  She was Chimera now and Chimera was not linked back to the miraculous.  So this new and completely un-miraculous affiliated hero definitely wasn’t unifying the fox and horse miraculous.  Chimera was a separate and unmiraculous hero.  She was a new heroic entity; a powerful amalgamation of divergent parts; an illusion, who uses illusions; a dream that can never be captured.   Chimera was just another magical hero working in the background.
Gone was the flashy, bright suit of a central hero.  She was a shadow now and her suit reflected her new role.  The base of the suit was a brown so dark, it almost looked black.  Her knee-high boots and gloves that reached to midway up her bicep were both black, meeting with the brown core of the suit with a strip of deep orange.  Her mask was the same dark brown color with deep orange at the corners.    She no longer had her yoyo, but in its place was a rope that responded to her like her yoyo did.  Her flute across her back completed her weaponry.
She was still a hero, just not a miraculous one, as far as anyone else knew. She was still protecting people for now, she just wasn’t on the front lines anymore.  She was still protecting the miraculous and would for the rest of her life.  And she was still… standing outside the Zeta tube opening, staring.
She closed her eyes, and walked through the portal.  Before she let out her breath, she could feel a difference in the air around her.  She heard a digital voice say “Recognize Chimera B12.”  She opened one eye tentatively and jumped back with a quiet squeak when she saw Batman standing on the other side giving her an amused smile next to Black Canary and a red figure.
Black Canary stepped forward, “Welcome to Mount Justice, Chimera.  You’ve already met Batman.  This is Red Tornado.  He supervises the cave here.” Chimera nodded to him but before she could say anything Black Canary continued speaking.  “We are very excited to have you here.  While you are training and on missions, this will be your home.  I know you have an apartment near your internship, but if you ever want to get away, you are always welcome to stay here whenever and however long you want to.” Her voice was warm and welcoming.  She leaned over and lowered her voice, “lead lined walls and no bugs or cameras allowed in the personal rooms in case you want to drop your transformation while you are here.”  She gave her a nod and started walking, motioning to Chimera to follow her.
“As discussed before, your team knows nothing about you.  What you choose to disclose is your decision.  Only Batman and I know anything more.  The team is used to people hiding their identities so there is no pressure to give your personal identity.  I mean, there might be teasing, but you are under absolutely no obligation to divulge and they will respect that.  Especially since Robin is under the same requirement.”
They entered into a small sitting area that appeared to be their common room. The first thing she noticed was a kitchen that was almost as nice as her parents’ kitchen in the bakery and significantly bigger.  She let out a quiet “Wow” without even noticing she had done it.  She would have to try that out as soon as she was able to get back to it.
“Pretty nice, huh?” She heard from behind her.  She whirled around and finally noticed the other half of the room were a few couches and chairs were clustered in front of a television.  More significantly, there was a red headed boy talking to her, standing in front of four other teens.  They were looking at her with uncertainty and a slight bit of curiosity except the red headed boy who looked excited to meet her, and the larger black haired boy who looked a bit hostile.
“Uh, yeah.  It’s… um, a really nice kitchen.  It looks… really professional.”  She stammered, trying to keep the nerves out of her voice.
The red head smiled brightly at her.  “Only the best for the Justice League.”
“Alright team, it’s nice to see your smiling faces.” Black Canary started with more than a hint of sarcasm.  “I would like to introduce you to your new team member.  This is Chimera.”  Chimera gave an awkward wave to the Young Justice members.  “She was recruited by the Justice League.  Her identity is secret and will stay that way, am I clear?” She stared at each of the team members one at a time.  “Good. She is here under an outside deal so she may not always be available for missions, but she will be here whenever she can be.”
The red head raised his hand. “Wally, you don’t have to raise your hand.” Batman said tiredly.
“What is the outside deal?  What does that even mean?”
“It means something else brought her to our vicinity and she is only available to us because of that.  The details of the deal are not important.  Only that she is a hero on your team and every bit as dedicated to the team as the rest of you.”
“How is she as dedicated if she can’t commit to being here?” Artemis snarked quietly to Superboy.
“We all have outside lives that demand our attention.  There are times I can’t go out with the Justice League.  One of the others cover for me.  Are you suggesting I am not committed to the Justice League?” Batman stared harshly at her.
“No, sir.” Artemis shrunk back.
“I’m sorry, I have school and… other obligations, but I promise I will give you as much time and attention as I can spare without going insane.  Learned that the hard way.” She looked down as she muttered the last part under her breath.  She quickly looked back up hoping nobody heard her.  Everyone seemed to have the same expressions on their faces except Superboy who was giving her a quizzical look.  “I am committed to the team.  I want to be here, I promise.  Um… here, I brought macarons!”  She said with forced cheeriness, attempting to placate their suspicions and hostility. She opened the lid to the box of macarons she had brought with her.
Chimera’s hair blew back as Wally rushed forward.  He had already grabbed three macarons before she even saw him move. “These are delicious!  Where did you get them?”
“Thank you.  I made them. I like to bake.”  She smiled broadly at him.
Wally stared at her with his jaw open, the macaron close to falling out of his mouth. “Marry me.” He said dreamily.
Chimera giggled at him.  “How about I use the only-the-best kitchen to make something else for you a bit later instead?”
Wally gave her a bright grin.  “That will work.”  He looked at the rest of the macarons longingly then back at his teammates.  “Uh…. These are absolutely terrible and you shouldn’t have to be subjected to them.  I’ll just finish these off so you don’t have to.”  He reached back toward the box but Chimera closed the lid and raised an amused brow at him.
“Move over,” Robin pushed Wally to the side.  “Thank you Chimera.  That was sweet of you.”  He took a bite and looked back up at her with a smile.  “Hey, Wally was right.  These are delicious.  Artemis, Kaldur, Superboy, get over here and try these.”
Kaldur and Artemis came over, Artemis shoving Wally again for no apparent reason. Superboy stayed where he had been and continued to eye her suspiciously.  Wally looked at them with a pout.  “Hey!  Leave some for me.”
“You’ve already had a bunch.  The rest of us get some too.” Artemis rolled her eyes.
“Hey, I have a fast metabolism.  I need to eat.” Wally whined.
“Thank you… I’m sorry, I didn’t get any of your names.” Chimera said apologetically.
“Tall, blonde, and hostile is Artemis.  Tall, blonde, and aloof is Kaldur.  Tall, dark, and broody back there is Superboy.  You already met Wally, aka Kid Flash.  And I’m Robin.”  Robin gave her a charming smile and shook her hand.
She gave them all a brilliant smile.  “It is nice to meet you all.  I’m really excited to work with you.”  Wally smiled broadly at her and gave a lovesick sigh.  Artemis groaned and turned away.
Kaldur moved forward and extended his hand to her, “Welcome to the team.”
She shook his hand and gave him a warm smile.  “Thank you.”
“Okay, now that everyone has introduced themselves, let’s get to the training area.  I’m interested to see how Chimera’s powers work with the rest of yours.”  Black Canary announced.
“The training area is just this way,” Robin said with a suave smile, sweeping his arm out toward the direction they were supposed to move.
“Thanks,” Chimera smiled anxiously at him.
Wally came up on the other side of her and bumped his shoulder gently into hers.  “Don’t worry, we’ll take it easy on you.” He said with a wink.
Chimera looked at him blank faced for a few seconds before throwing him a sassy grin.  “It’s not me I’m worried about, speedy.”
“Oh no, Speedy was someone else.” Artemis threw in, moving past the group.
“You’re kidding.” Chimera stared at her.
“Nope.” Artemis responded popping the p.  “A whole different hero.  Not even fast either.  Makes no sense.”
“Good to know.” Chimera nodded absentmindedly.
“Oh, she can never meet Speedy.” Wally looked at the other heroes with wide eyes.
“Is he that bad?” Chimera asked, concern seeping into her eyes.
Artemis turned back to her and grinned wickedly, “No, he’s afraid you’ll start dating him.”
“Ahh.  I don’t date teammates so, don’t worry.”  Chimera reassured Wally with a clap on his back.  Artemis barely contained the chuckles that were fighting to spill out.
Wally gave her a distressed look, “But, teammates are great.  They are supportive and understand you… They’re… They’re the ideal dating material.”
“You make some interesting points.” She nodded as though contemplating his words.  “Luckily, you have very pretty and interesting teammates, four at least from what I can see.  So you have a wealth of dating material at your disposal.”  Chimera gave him a wink and walked ahead of him.  Artemis cackled loudly and threw her arm over Chimera’s shoulders, walking along with her.  “I think I’m going to like having you here.”
Chimera smiled at her.  “Good.  I hope so.”
Black Canary gave them a serious look and stood in the middle of the sparring area as the team lined up around the edges.  “Let’s get started.  This is an exhibition sparring match.  We want to see what you can do and what your teammates can do and see how you can mesh.”
“You don’t know what she can do?” Kaldur asked.
“I know. It’s you I’m concerned about.  You’re going to be working with her and leading her. You need to know what she can do. So, Chimera?  Go full force.  We want to know what to plan for in the field.”  Black Canary commanded.
Chimera looked at her unsure.  “Full force?  Are you sure? I don’t want to… That can be really dangerous.”
Black Canary nodded in understanding.  “I get that, but I assure you it will be fine.  We just need to see where you are in your skills, so we need you to give it your all.”
Chimera eyes got even bigger, “I’m not going to kill someone to prove a point.  I can do a demonstration instead.”
The rest of the team looked at her insulted.  Robin finally spoke up to scoff at her.  “We can take it.  We’ve dealt with worse.  Don’t worry.”
Ladybug looked back at him with wide eyes.  “It isn’t… I don’t think I’m a better fighter than you.  I’m positive you all have better training than I do, especially since I don’t have any, it’s just… I’ve brought down the Eiffel Tower with one hit before.  Thank god for miraculous ladybugs.  But you all look a bit more…” she struggled for an appropriate word to finish her thought, “…vulnerable.  I really don’t want to hurt any of you.”  She shot him a pleading look.
Superboy stepped forward with a determined look on his face. “Then try me.  I’m less…” he paused as if thinking, “what was that word you used… Vulnerable.”
She looked at him uncertain then looked over to Black Canary, taking note of her stern expression.  She nodded and stepped onto the mat.  “I’ll make it work.” Chimera offered uncertainly.
They faced each other for a few moments before settling into a fighting stance.  When she was ready, Chimera nodded to Superboy.  He rushed at her and extended his arm at the last second to deliver a haymaker punch.  Chimera bent backwards and twirled in a semi-circle so she was standing behind him and kicked him in the butt, sending him sprawling on the floor.  He got up and glared at her.  He rushed her again, this time aiming for her waist so she couldn’t duck under him.  She stared at him coming at her like a deer in headlights.  Superboy got a smug glint in his eye as he closed in on her.  At the last second, Chimera jumped up and rolled down his back, landing on her feet behind him, the wide eyed expression long gone.
“We need you to try, Chimera.  We need you to actually fight, not just dodge.”  Batman stated sternly.
Chimera looked over to him to nod at the instruction. The momentary distraction was enough for Superboy to land a hard hit to her stomach.  The force of the impact sent her flying across the mat.  The team winced and groaned in sympathy as she hit a wall with a hard thump.  Superboy moved over to her to check on her but stopped half way to her.   Chimera stood up and cocked her head to the side, examining Superboy.  She raised her brow and asked calmly, “So… super strength.  Invulnerability?”
He nodded at her.  “Okay then.”  She smirked at him, walking back to the central area of the room.  “Let’s do this.”  He smiled slightly and nodded.  She immediately launched herself at him, catching him by surprise.  She punched him hard enough to send him across the room in the opposite direction.  He slid toward the wall but was able to regain enough control to use the wall as a springboard to launch himself back at her.  She saw him coming and twisted at the last second, using his momentum against him to push him off balance.  He recovered quicker than she expected and swept her legs out from under her. She used her momentum to turn the fall into a flip, leading to a series of flips and twists taking her away from him, giving her some space to think.
They circled around each other trying to plan their next move.  Suddenly Chimera stopped and looked like she just realized something.  “Oh I forgot.  I’m supposed to be showing my skills…” she started innocently.  Superboy took advantage of her apparent distraction to jump at her again but that was the moment she had been waiting for.  “Voyage” she whispered and created a portal behind her. She stepped out of the way at the last possible second, sending Superboy through the portal at full speed.  The portal ended close to the rock wall on the other side of the room.  Superboy almost slammed into the wall with his full force but she had left him enough room to bounce back off the wall and launch himself back through the portal and back in front of her, throwing a punch toward her sternum that she was just barely able to twist away from, rolling along his arm until she was in the perfect position to elbow him in the back of his head.  He grunted and turned back toward her, circling around her again.
“Full force, Chimera,” Black Canary chastised her.
“Not going to make him bleed on purpose for a game, Ms. Canary.” Chimera responded, still focused on Superboy.  “Besides, we’re not done yet.”  She turned to Superboy, “Right?”  He nodded at her, an amused glint in his eyes.  “I haven’t even showed off all my skills yet.”
“Well, let’s see those skills you keep talking about.” Superboy taunted her.
“If you say so Superboy.” She smirked at him then frowned.  “I don’t appreciate that your actual name is the name I would have called you to taunt you.  You’re making my job harder.”
He frowned at her, the amused look that had been in his eyes dropping.  “So sorry my name is an inconvenience.  You can call me The Weapon like my makers did if you prefer.”
Chimera stood up straight, fidgeting and frowning at him.  “That’s… really?” She looked around to the other heroes.  They all nodded solemnly.
She looked back at him with softer eyes.  “What do you want to be called?” She asked in a kind tone.
“I… Superboy.”  He said stiffly, not exactly sure how to respond to the shift in atmosphere.
Chimera nodded and gave him a warm smile.  “Superboy it is.  No nicknames unless you approve of them.”
“As heartwarming as this is, you are supposed to be sparring.” Black Canary reminded them.
“Right,” Chimera said shook her head to refocus herself. “Sorry.”  She whispered “Mirage,” bringing her flute up to her lips.  As soon as the notes were heard, a dozen replicas of her appeared and began running around the circle.  Superboy tried to scan them but they all looked identical even with his infrared vision.  He stilled to listen for a heartbeat or breathing, but he couldn’t detect it in any of them.  He looked around wildly.  It was a sea of dark brown and bright orange.  He nodded to himself calculating the possibilities.  Most likely she managed to split herself.  So either they are all fully sentient or there is a central figure controlling them.  He’d have to hope for the latter.
His eyes flicked to one of the figures running at him.  The figure jumped into a flying kick.  He dodged out of the way and rolled to his feet, looking around again for the next attack. He didn’t wait long.  Another figure ducked low to sweep his feet.  He jumped over her but felt a sharp pain in his side as one of the replicas body checked him with enough force to knock him into the far wall.
Superboy shook his head to clear it.  When he took more than a few seconds to recover, the replicas looked at him concerned.  One of them finally moved forward and asked “Are you okay to continue?”
He stared at the replica for a few moments before nodding.  “We’re not done yet.”  All the replicas smiled at him and moved into new positions, waiting for him to indicate he was ready.  As soon as he nodded two replicas moved to attack him, one went high, one went for his legs.  He lunged for the one going high, jumping over the one going for his legs.  As soon as he reached her, she disappeared.  Not meeting the resistance he had expected, the force of the lunge caused him to lay out flat on the floor.  He grunted and jumped up before any of the replicas could attack again.
As soon as he was up he looked around with a grin. “Mirage,” he repeated.  They were all an illusion.  He just had to find the real one.  Two attacked him again.  He hit one causing it to disappear but the other one hit him with her flute, knocking him to the side.  He shook his head again and turned back to them and backed away, giving himself space. He just had to find the one. There had to be an indication of which one was the real one.  He couldn’t use his infrared vision or hearing.  Maybe there was something about them.  He stared at them as they circled around each other.  There!  There was one with a different shade of orange, the shade Chimera had before the match. All the replicas had bright orange but the real Chimera had deep orange accents.
He kept his eyes moving so she wouldn’t know he’d made her.  He moved forward toward one of the replicas moving to punch her.  Chimera attacked from the side again, coming at him before he could touch the replica and make it disappear.  He grinned to himself.  At the last second, he changed his trajectory and sent another haymaker toward her.  He jerked back in pain as the replica he had been moving toward originally made contact, knocking the air out of his lungs. He grunted in anger and confusion as a rope was tied around him, pinning down his arms.  His legs were swept out from under him causing him to land hard. He trashed with all his strength as he felt her tying his legs too.  He kept thrashing against the rope, but no matter how hard he pushed and pulled, the rope showed no indication of weakening.
After a few moments of him pointlessly struggling, Black Canary walked over and declared Chimera the winner.  She smiled excitedly at Chimera.  “Now we know what we’re working with and we can plan how to incorporate your skills into missions and approaches to your training.”
Chimera nodded in understanding and looked over to the team who were still watching her in various degrees of surprise.  Kaldur nodded in approval.  Wally and Artemis stared at her in shock.  Robin was pointing and laughing at Superboy.  Chimera glowered at him and turned back to Superboy, releasing the rope so he could get up.
As soon as he was freed, Superboy jumped up and rubbed his arms, glaring at the floor.  Chimera smiled nervously in his direction, but he refused to look at her and had turned his body away from her.  She sighed and looked down too, shifting nervously.  After a few moments, she started gathering up the rope to tie it back around her waist.  She furrowed her brows at the sound of Robin still laughing, which seemed to upset Superboy even more.  She narrowed her eyes at him and whipped the rope out in his direction.  It snapped a few inches away from his face with a crack so loud it reverberated throughout the cave.  Robin jumped away awkwardly and fell backwards, landing on his butt.
Superboy looked from Robin to her.  He let out a small laugh and gave her a smile. Chimera took it as a good sign and smiled back at him.  “That was a lot of fun.  You are really good at picking up on details, otherwise that color trick wouldn’t have worked.” Her voice was soft, like she was addressing a scared child.
He nodded at her and quietly said, “Thanks. It was fun.”
“Does that mean we can do it again sometime?  I need practice sparring and I’m usually afraid I’ll hurt someone when I’m in the suit and when I’m not, it isn’t as effective. I mean, helpful still, but not as effective.”  He stared at her for a few seconds but finally nodded at her.
“That was a pretty good introduction but it’s getting late now.  I think it’s time to call it a night.  Red Tornado, can you take Chimera to the room she will be using so she can recharge?” Black Canary asked.
When Chimera returned a few minutes later, the group smiled at her and gave their goodbyes.  They made plans for everyone to return the next day for more training.  One by one, they all left through the Zeta tubes except for Superboy.  Chimera looked at him confused.  “Are you not leaving too?”
“No.” He stated coldly.
“Why not?  I mean… if you don’t mind me asking.” She stammered out.
“Because I live here.” He grumbled back at her.
“Alone?” She gasped.
“With Red Tornado.” He corrected defiantly.
“But no other… people? In this big, empty, cold place?” She looked out over the cave, the empty, cold, inhospitable place he was going to call home.
“I like being alone.”  He stated in an annoyed voice.
Something that looked like anger flashed across her face transforming into a determined look before she smoothed it out and gave him a cheeky grin.  “That’s a shame.”
He narrowed his eyes looking at her suspiciously, “Why is that?”
“I’m moving in.”  Her smile grew bigger.
He furrowed his brow and frowned, “What?”
“I’m moving in.  I have school and, uh… stuff during the day, but I’ll be here in the mornings and at night, most weekends.” She nodded at him.  “It will be like a sleepover every night… except we’ll be sleeping in separate rooms.”
He stared at her for a few seconds, unsure how to react. “Whatever,” he grunted walking back toward the residence area.  “Dinner is usually in like 30 minutes.” He called over his shoulder.  She smiled in his direction.  It wasn’t a warm welcome but it was better than nothing.
“Are you sure about this?  It isn’t required for you to live here.  Most of the members don’t.” Black Canary reassured her.
“That’s why I’m doing it.  I’ve already had one teammate who had to live essentially alone and isolated in a big, empty space.  He hated it.  It messes with your self-worth and your ability to interact with other people, no matter how badly you want to.  It scrapes away at your humanity.  I couldn’t really do anything for his living situation, but I can do something for Superboy.”
“It will make keeping your identity more difficult.” Batman warned her softly.
“I know, but he’s my teammate.  I won’t abandon him.  And I need a friend here too.  I’ll be all alone otherwise, so… it will be mutually beneficial… I hope.”  She added tentatively.
Batman and Black Canary shared an approving look with each other and turned back to her.  “Okay.  Let us or Red Tornado know if you need anything.  We really think you are going to fit in amazingly with this team.”
Chimera smiled at them and shifted slightly to look out over the rest of the cave.  “I think so, too.”

A/N: This is kind of short because I forgot until 10pm that today is an upload day. Also, it’s roughly, at best, proofread, so if there’s any grammar or spelling errors…. *gestures vaguely* Please enjoy, regardless~
In the short time that you had both known each other, youand Loki had become fast friends.
It had just so happened that the both of you showed uparound the same time at the compound, and so both of you had sort of had to learnthe ropes at the same time, so while everyone else was already ahead of thegame and knew what they were doing, the two of you got to work together and goto “Avenger classes,” as Thor lovingly called them.
Which basically just meant that the two of you had to getlectures from each of the Avengers about what to do and what not to do on the job.
It was good information to have, and you did try to take notes at the beginning, but you couldn’t not get distractedby the magic Loki would use out of sheer boredom to entertain themself, and bythe end of the first day, you were thick as thieves, and the rest was history.
Once you were a couple months out of lessons, you were declaredon official probationary duty. Glorified Steve speak for being given a trialrun, should anything ever happen in your near vicinity when you were out andabout.
It just so happened that one afternoon, while the two of youwere having lunch on the sidewalk of a small café, the sudden sounds ofscreaming and terror filled the air, and you turned around to see peoplerunning away from the direction of a nearby street corner and, after a sharedglance with Loki, the both of you stood, food forgotten as you ran against thecurrent of everyone trying to get out of the way.
It didn’t take long for you to spot what, or rather who, wasthe cause. Someone flying by on some kind of hovering board looked to bethrowing bombs of some sort into the windows of the buildings along the street, causing pure chaos and havoc.
“That looks…”
“Terrible?”
“…in a word.” Loki didn’t turn to look at you as they spoke, instead trying to gauge what direction the person on the board was going to flynext. “We need to get that board out of the air.”
You couldn’t help but to grin. This would be easy for you.
“I got it. Just make sure people got out of here safely.”
Before Loki could answer, you took off after the figure onthe hoverboard, and after a moment, you heard Loki directing the people aroundthem to keep running away from you. With a loud crash, you realized thatanother bomb had been thrown, and you ducked and covered your head amidst theraining debris, grateful that most of what hit you wasn’t large enough to doany damage or be a deterrent.
With a quiet huff, you pushed yourself back up to your feet, and looked back up at the sky, watching the hoverboard dart back and forthacross the sky, the person aboard it yelling something you couldn’t quite makeout from where you were.
Taking a deep breath to ground yourself, you shifted so youwere braced better, hands held out from you as you closed your eyes and focusedall of your energy, until you felt the wind pick up around you and heard theforce of it whipping your hair around.
When you opened your eyes again, there a small tornadobefore you, and with little more effort than it took to flex your hands, theygrew in size, and you waved a hand, sending it toward the hoverboard and smilingto yourself when you heard a panicked yelp as they desperately tried to steeraway from you,
But there was no escape, and within seconds, you had caughtthe board up in the vortex you had produced, and you jerked both hands towardyou, sending the hoverboard, and whoever was on it, crashing down a few feet infront of you.
You worked fast, you knew you had to, and ran toward the hooded figure, ready for a fight, andthat was just what you got. While you’d never really showcased it during training, you were quite adept when it came tohand-to-hand combat, and while the offender put up quite the fight, they wereno match for you, and it took very little time for you to have them knockedout.
“…that’s new.”
You looked over to see Loki watching you, eyebrows raised asthey regarded you.
“When were you going to tell me you could do…” They paused, and gestured their hands vaguely in front of them. “…all that?”
You huffed out a laugh, and swiped your sleeve across yourforehead to soak up some sweat. “First of all, that wasn’t new. I’ve always been able to do that.”
Loki continued to regard you skeptically. “…I’ve never seenyou do it before.”
You shrugged. “I prefer not to, unless I really, really haveto.”
Loki narrowed their eyes a bit, trying to read you like theyusually did with everyone else on the team. “…smart. An ace up your sleeve. That’sa smart move.”
You grinned. “I know it is.” You looked back down at themotionless heap on the ground. “You wanna be useful and help me get this guy tothe compound.”
“Useful?! What doyou call getting everyone to safety?” Loki’s voice was comically shrill in sheer offense, and it made you laugh.
“A job well done. Now, come on.”
Loki didn’t stop grumbling the entire trip back to thecompound.

- Part 1 -
Northern Suburbs, temporary base for STF.
Days of natural disasters have raised the disaster prevention alert of Loveland City by several levels.
In order to deal with the doomsday, all countries in the world have established doomsday rescue operations headquarters, and jointly formulated a number of rescue policies.
The last issue of "Miracle Finder" is to record the scenes of these soldiers fighting against disasters in the doomsday.
The car stopped at the base station gate, and I got out of the car with camera crew.
In the empty wilderness, several special officers in white uniforms patrolled the surrounding area.
According to the forecast, a tornado is about to hit Loveland City, and the STF troops will be here to stop the crisis.
Minor: Brother, where did your commander go?
STF Officer : Commander is very busy, and has no time to see you.
Minor: Hey, we are...
MC: Hello, we have made an appointment for an interview, can you let us in?
The officer looked suspiciously at the press card hanging around my neck.
STF Officer: You are waiting here, I will confirm it.
Eli: She doesn't need to make an appointment.
STF Officer: Captain Eli!
Eli walked leisurely with his hands in his pockets, and nodded at me.
Eli: MC, long time no see.
He looked at the serious-faced officer again.
Eli: Do you know who she is?
The officer looked at me and then at Eli, with a suddenly realized expression.
STF Officer: Eh, she is Commander's...
I slapped awkwardly, blocked the officer's unfinished words first.
MC: If it is not convenient, let's go back first.
Eli: There is nothing inconvenient. By the way, do you need me to help you call Gavin?
MC: No need! I don't want to interfere with your actions.
Eli: Then don't bother, you are free.
Eli: However, according to forecasts, there will be less than five minutes before the tornado enters the area of the city.
Eli: You'd better shoot near here, don't get close to the edges of those wind barriers.
MC: I understand!
Eli's remarks made everyone start scrambling to set up shooting equipment.
The wind became louder and louder, and a large funnel-shaped cloud soon appeared on the horizon, so gloomy that almost covered the entire sky.
Minor: I heard that the central wind speed of a tornado can reach 200 meters per second, which means that it will blow us away with people and machines in five minutes...
Willow: Close your crow's mouth.
Minor: Hey, I haven't finished speaking yet. With Bro Gavin, there is nothing to worry about.
The film crew quickly set up the machine, ready to start filming the entire process of STF team repelling the tornado.
After a while, the circular wind barrier erected all around shook violently, the surrounding trees were rustling.
A thick black shadow appeared at the end of the horizon, hurriedly approaching here.
The tornado is coming.
Photographer: Producer, the wind and sand are too big, it is difficult for us to get close to shooting!
MC: Let me find a way.
I thought for a while and took out the portable DV machine from my bag.
Just now Eli has divided the safety range for us. As long as we do not exceed that range for shooting, there should be no problem.
The violent wind that came in on the verge of blowing in the gap made the gap bigger, many of the team members who were in the front were injured.
STF Officer: The wind is too strong, we can't approach from the inner wall!
Anxious shouts from the STF members came from afar, and everyone present couldn't help but grab their hearts.
A calm and cold voice came from the communicator.
Gavin: I will go.
It's Gavin.
I resisted the urge to scream, my eyes and the camera stared at the distant sky unblinkingly.
The shifted wind barrier was quickly pushed back to its original position by another strong wind, and returned to the array.
The wind weakened, the tornado gradually deviated from its path.
Everyone waited nervously, and a few minutes later, the shadow of the tornado disappeared without a trace on the horizon.
Photographer: Amazing!!
MC: Gavin, you are so handsome!
Several injured officers were quickly taken away by the resident doctor, and I nervously searched for Gavin on the court.
From a distance, I saw a familiar figure approaching me.
My eyes lit up, and I ran towards him without hesitation.
MC: Are you okay? Isn't it hurt?
A look of helplessness passed across Gavin's face, he stretched out his hand, help me straighten my hair.
MC: What you looked like just now...
"Gavin, you are so handsome!"
At some point, my hand accidentally pressed the play button of the video just recorded, and the sigh was recorded verbatim into the screen.
MC: …When editing, this sentence will be deleted.
A smile finally appeared on his stern face.
Gavin: Wait here, I’ll come to you later.
.
- Part 2 -
STF Officer A: When Commander was still tasked as B-7, we have heard his rumors.
STF Officer A: Whether it is natural or man-made disasters these days, we can survive it, thanks to his judgment and decision-making.
STF Officer B: Yes, everyone was injured in the last rescue. Thanks to Commander, the situation was stabilized and the casualties were avoided.
STF Officer B: …But after returning, he formulated more stringent training plan.
MC: I see...
MC: Is there any moment when Commander makes you feel particularly tender?
The young officer in front of me "umm" for seven full seconds, and finally shook his head.
STF Officer A: More like medical insurance, count it?
Gavin: You seem to be very free.
Gavin stood behind us at some point, his voice cold.
STF Officer A: Commander!
The two STF members who were still babbling a while ago immediately stood up, saluted to Gavin together.
MC: .....
I turned around with a guilty conscience and looked at Gavin in front of me. When I looked down, I noticed that his wrist under his cuff was wrapped in gauze several times.
He just left temporarily, so he should simply treat the wound.
The crowd scattered like birds and beasts, soon only I and Gavin were left.
Gavin: What happened just now?
MC: Well... I just want to interview STF's recent work routine.
Gavin: I'm not asking about that. Your actions just now were dangerous.
MC: I said hello to Eli, and confirmed that I was in the safe zone!
I vowed to raise my hand, swear in my ear. Gavin's serious expression finally eased a little.
Looking at Gavin, I remembered all the rumors I had heard from the officers, their respectful and scared look, I couldn't help but laugh.
Gavin: What are you laughing at?
MC: Nothing, I was thinking about the last issue of "Miracle Finder", would you like to give a personal interview as Commander...
MC: But I'm just kidding, if it bother you, forget it.
Gavin: It's not bother.
His gaze moved down, and he scanned the line of drafted titles on the open page of the notebook in my hand.
Gavin: "The Commander's outside and inside". Do you want to know the outside, or the inside?
I smiled awkwardly, and the corners of Gavin's lips raised slightly.
Minor: Bro Gavin! Are you OK!
A noisy voice came from behind, Gavin glanced back and frowned quickly.
I don't know when Minor ran over, but he was dragged out by Willow before he finished speaking.
After both of them left, the surrounding area became quiet again.
Gavin: It's too noisy here. Let's change place.
I nodded and walked out of the base with Gavin.
***
A whistling wind came from the sinkhole in the distance, and a shallow layer of rain accumulated on the ground, reflecting the clear night sky and a little bit of starlight.
I followed the arched ridge all the way forward and photographed the traces of the tornado, asking Gavin one after another.
MC: I listened to Eli...
MC: NW put all its forces into establishing an airtight underground base, and didn't join your joint rescue...
Gavin: They aren't upside down.
Gavin: As long as that day doesn't come, STF won't give up protecting everyone here.
His tone is very flat, but it makes people feel extremely reliable.
I thought about it, and re-adjusted the DV mode, aiming at Gavin.
MC: Next, I will start an official interview.
Gavin: …Why do you want to give me an interview.
MC: Because you are the Commander of STF, what you say is the most convincing.
This interview is a temporary motive. I was not prepared for the question, so I just asked what I thought.
MC: The first question: What is the most important thing for the commander at the moment?
Gavin: Protect everyone's safety, and prevent disasters from happening.
MC: The second question: The commander felt that in this situation, for every citizens, what is the most important thing?
Gavin: This is varies from person to another.
…This minimalist way of answering questions, it's really Gavin's style.
MC: The third question...
Suddenly, the flapping sound of bird wings interrupted my question, and large swarms of pigeons started to start from deep in the woods.
MC: That is...
Gavin raised his head, looking solemnly at the flock of white pigeons in the sky.
Gavin: The abnormal weather in the past few days has caused the magnetic field in the vicinity to be disordered, and the return route of the pigeons has also been affected.
In the deep night, the pigeon flock wandered anxiously over the woods, flapping its wings constantly, as if calling for the return of their companions.
However, after the tornado struck, many birds were injured or died, and white feathers were scattered everywhere on the ground.
Several faint calls came from the bushes not far away.
Gavin and I approached and found two injured pigeons
One of them was badly injured, and dying; the other was still struggling.
MC: Will they die?
Gavin didn't speak, and rescued the two pigeons from the strange orange bushes, with a little blood stained on their messy wings.
It seemed to be frightened, its body trembling, and the warning sound of "cooing" as soon as we approached.
MC: Great, it seems okay!
Gavin: Be careful, don't get hurt by them.
Gavin: This is a wild pigeon that has not been domesticated, and is very wary of humans.
Gavin avoided the beak pecked by the pigeon, picked it up and checked it.
Gavin: No injuries.
The pigeon struggled to escape from his palm.
MC: Do they continue to fly forward?
Gavin made a soft "Mm" sound.
Gavin untwisted the withered grass entangled in its ankles, and another small gust of wind rolled up in his palms, drying its wet wings.
Gavin: If the wings are not wet, the flight home can be easier.
Its eyes rolled steadily, as if understanding the intention of Gavin, obediently gave up the struggle.
Perhaps after waiting too long, the group hovering in the sky gradually moved away, flying behind the invisible gray sky.
MC: Can this pigeon find its friends?
Gavin: Difficult.
MC: I see...
Gavin seemed to notice my loss, and changed his words.
Gavin: But it is not impossible.
Gavin: The migration of pigeon, is actually a story about commitment.
MC: Committed?
Gavin: Fulfill their promise to go back.
Gavin: No matter how far you fly, you will definitely arrive where you want to fly as scheduled.
The pigeon in his palm seemed to sense Gavin's words and tried to wave its wings again.
The small gust of wind gradually increased, escorting this child to the sky.
Soon, it struggling to flap its wings forward, disappearing into the night sky and the end of the stars.
MC: In fact, whether it is them or the wind, they all know their direction.
MC: Even if it takes a long time to walk, even if it will go away, it will not stop.
MC: Is that right?
Gavin didn't speak, but gently held my hand.
At this time, a few STF members came towards us, saluted to Gavin, and solemnly reported the situation of the other bases.
Gavin's face was always calm, as if no matter what kind of danger he encountered, he would not have the slightest panic.
MC: Is there another task?
I couldn't help but whisper to Eli, who was beside me, and he nodded.
Eli: I heard that there was a violent conflict in the city, and the situation is not very optimistic. They have to come to support tonight.
MC: I see... thank you very much.
Eli: Don't worry, Gavin will stay in Loveland City to lead. He is the backbone of all of us.
I'm a little embarrassed to be guessed by Eli.
Eli: But we have to rush to deal with a flood tonight. The disaster is dangerous, so you can't follow.
MC: I know, you guys must come back safely.
The bonfire ignited at the distant base dispelled the darkness, and the constantly rising tongue of fire brightened the night sky red, and occasionally there were a few crisp clashes of wine glasses and laughter.
This temporary celebration and happiness seem extremely precious on such a night.
I involuntarily rubbed my palms tightly, and some hope that the "moment" in that prophecy would come soon.
No matter where I go or what I experience, it would be great if I could reverse the ending.
After the officers reported, Eli stepped forward and said something to Gavin, patted him on the shoulder, and suddenly looked at me again.
Eli: I'll leave first, and meet again later, the young couple get along well.
Eli left after speaking, waved goodbye to me before leaving.
There was a brief silence all around, only cheers from afar broke the silence between us.
MC: Are you leaving now?
Gavin: Mm, we will leave in two hours.
I stepped forward, took his hand gently, and sat down on a rock.
The wind in the wilderness is blowing on the long stretch of grass in the distance, and there is a green smell in the darkness that fluctuates with the night.
MC: Then you need a good rest now.
MC: I wonder if Mr. Commander, who has been busy all day, is willing to agree to my request.
Gavin: Can I take a rest?
I was stunned by him, after a few seconds, I didn't expect Gavin was directly rest on my knee.
Gavin: Thank you for coming.
MC: ...You're welcome.
I opened my mouth again, trying to remedy my stupid answer, but Gavin had already closed my eyes.
For a long time, long and even breathing sounded from my knees.
This land is shrouded in night and cold, but my heart is very bright and warm at this moment.
I gently stroked his finally showing tired eyebrows, my heart soft.
MC: Thank you for the hard work, Gavin.
I hope you can also have a good dream.
.
- Part 3 -
In the vast expanse of the universe, a swarm of comets quickly fell to the blue planet.
Cities, forests, mountains, rivers and oceans were all engulfed by heat waves and tongues of fire, and vanished in the blink of an eye.
It seems that I am the only one left in the whole world, and the stars gradually shrink, hitting my heart like a burning bullet hitting the bullseye---
I woke up from the nightmare and took a deep breath.
Gavin: Woke up?
MC: I'm sorry... I fell asleep too.
I raised my head, met Gavin's worried eyes.
Gavin: Had a nightmare?
MC: Not a manifest dream, but a sweet dream.
MC: I dreamt that we became super cosmic warriors, saving the world from the brink of destruction.
I cheered up, and made a joke pretending to be relaxed.
Gavin: It seems that dream should be kept longer, it is best not to wake up.
He sighed, and gathered the jacket over me again.
There are footsteps approaching behind him.
When Gavin got up, the officer came over and whispered something to Gavin.
I was stunned, and quickly reacted: He is going to the next temporary base to command the mission.
MC: Are you leaving soon?
Gavin: There are still ten minutes left.
MC: Then I have one last question to interview you.
I turned around, fixedly looked at Gavin.
MC: Before the end, what is your wish?
Gavin: ...My wish?
MC: This is the question I want to ask you, so you can answer me alone.
MC: I have interviewed many people these days, and heard many people’s wishes, but I haven't had a chance to ask your wishes.
MC: I want to know what Gavin's wish is.
Gavin's expression was a little surprised, and he didn't speak for a long time.
Perhaps, this question is too vain and slow, he never put his wishes on unrealistic things.
???: Look, there are meteors!
The cheers of the crowd came from far behind, and Gavin and I raised our heads together.
The sky was passing by a meteor, dragging a bright trail, from loneliness to grandeur.
Under this bright and grand light, everything becomes small and quiet.
MC: Beautiful...
The falling trajectory of the meteor is long and narrow in the night sky.
The ubiquitous light illuminates the mountains and valleys in the distance, the river at the end of the horizon, and the city.
It also illuminates every face looking up on the earth.
Gavin suddenly grabbed my hand, his voice was very soft.
Gavin: When I was seventeen, I did have a wish.
Suddenly a large swarm of snow-white flew across the sky.
The flying dove in the dark night fluttered its wings and dropped a large piece of white feathers, drowning his voice.
I looked up in a different place, saw his star-lit eyes, and wanted to ask him what it was.
He looked at me with a deep retention and sadness. I always felt, that there were many emotions that I didn't understand.
In a second of distraction, I almost blurted out if he knew that I was going to leave.
But I didn't have the courage to speak up to verify this conjecture.
I grabbed his hand and tried to make a smile.
MC: I used to see meteors and could only think of wishing. I didn't expect that one day the meteors would actually destroy the world.
Gavin: Are you scared?
I shook my head.
MC: In fact, as long as I'm by your side, I'm not afraid at all.
Tumblr media
Gavin lowered his head and put the kiss on our folded hands.
Gavin: I promise you.
Gavin: I won't leave you, until the last moment.
I heard his heartbeat on his chest, closed my eyes, and silently made a vow to the meteor.
May the world never end.
May he always be by my side.
.
- Part 4 -
The news broadcast the arrival time of the X1917 comet cluster, as expected, without any change.
As a commander, Gavin became more and more busy, and the occasional time together became exceptionally short.
Today, the STF is holding a major meeting.
Those present were all commanders from various countries' combat headquarters participating in this joint doomsday rescue.
After the meeting, I put down the interview draft and couldn't help but look at the meeting room.
Gavin came out last, and he was talking to a foreign man with a high nose and deep eyes.
The man seemed to notice me waiting on the side, he turned to me, his face stretched.
Foreign Commander: Eh, you are the producer. I have watched your show, Miracle Finder, which is great.
He gave me a thumbs up.
MC: ...Thank you!
I can't fully understand their small talk. I can only vaguely hear the commander's admiration and gratitude to Gavin.
After the conversation, he saluted to Gavin, and then left with his men.
I couldn't wait to walk to Gavin, wanting to open my mouth, but hesitated again.
The news specially told him today, perhaps compared with the important news he comes into contact with every day, is nothing at all.
Gavin: What's wrong?
MC: Gavin, I have good news for you.
MC: After the previous program was broadcast, some citizens contacted us and wanted to send you a loving lunch, medical supplies, and...
I counted the enthusiastic letters I received these days with my fingers. He listened carefully, his lips curled up unconsciously.
Gavin: STF doesn't need these for the time being, but it can be sent to disaster areas with more dangerous conditions.
Gavin: You can figure it out. I'll give you some addresses later.
MC: Okay!
Gavin's gaze flickered slightly, as if he had to say something, the communicator on his waist ticked.
Gavin: ...Wait for me.
MC: It's okay, go ahead.
I cheered up and bid farewell to Gavin, but the loss of separation was still unstoppable in my heart.
I let out a sigh of relief and began to think about how to arrange these supplies.
This time we are, fighting side by side with all mankind.
***
The last day of the countdown.
The days of waiting regretfully finally arrived, but it seemed to be no different from usual.
MC: How is the situation today?
STF Officer A: There were no casualties, and damaged communications and traffic are slowly recovering.
STF Officer B: That's right, Commander was not injured, so Sister-In-Law, don't worry.
MC: ...Okay.
While chatting, I looked around for Gavin's figures.
Soon, a figure dangled from behind the door of the headquarters.
Gavin, who had changed his uniform, walked towards me, the cuffs of the gray jacket were slightly rolled up, revealing a strong wrist.
At the moment when my eyes were facing each other, Gavin had already walked to me, and I was stunned for a second.
I raised my head and looked at him, as if I had guessed something in my heart.
Gavin: Come?
MC: You, there are no tasks today?
Gavin: I took half a day off.
MC: Eh....?
Gavin: I'll accompany you out for a walk.
Behind him, the whistle and the confession sounded one after another, Gavin faintly swept back, and the group of people suddenly made noise again.
MC: Is it really okay? I think it’s good to stay here...
Gavin took my hand and walked out. I turned around a little hesitantly, afraid that he would waste too much time.
Unexpectedly, Eli also waved at me and made a "rest assured" mouth shape.
Gavin: Leave them alone.
MC: I don't know why, but now I always have a feeling of occupying major public resources.
The corners of Gavin's mouth twitched slightly, and he looked at me helplessly, sighed.
Gavin: Can't the Commander go on a date after get off work.
He stood still in front of me, a little serious in his amber eyes.
Gavin: What stands in front of you now, it's Gavin that belongs to you only.
***
There was no one on the street, and the few shadows of trees stretched to the end of the empty road.
We unknowingly walked to the vicinity of Loveland High School and ate the last bowl of noodles at the still-open Lynn's Kitchen.
A live interview of STF to fight off the tornado is being broadcast on TV, and the boss exclaims while watching.
Boss: Did you really repel the tornado?
Gavin: Some news likes to exaggerate, you don't have to believe it.
MC: Gavin, this was taken by me.
Gavin: …Hmm, it was repelled.
Boss: Add more beef for you. Do you want other side dishes?
MC: I want it!
Gavin: Are you sure you can eat it?
MC: I'm able to eat it!
Gavin put down his chopsticks, looked at the side dishes on the table and the pile of beef in the bowl, he expressed doubts to me with his eyes.
MC: Is this a new flavor of noodles? It seems that I have never eaten it before.
Boss: Did little girl eat it? I updated the recipe of the soup. How does it taste?
MC: Super invincible and delicious!
Boss: That's good.
Boss: There are too many things that have been missed in a lifetime, and it's not worth beating.
Boss: However, it is still a pity that more people haven't tasted this bowl of noodles.
Boss: Thank you for finishing it.
***
MC: I'm so full...!
Gavin: You ate all the side dishes the boss gave.
MC: Because I don’t want to be a starving ghost...
Gavin: Nonsense.
Gavin gently knocked on my forehead, his eyes turned to the school gate across the road, his expression suddenly softened.
Gavin: You saved a cat here.
MC: You have beaten a few people here.
Gavin laughed.
Unexpectedly the school door closed tightly. Gavin noticed the loss on my face and patted my shoulder lightly.
Gavin: Do you want to go elsewhere?
MC: What a pity... I still want to go back and have a look.
MC: Wait, I get it!
***
Gavin: Are you sure you want to do this?
MC: No one, is afraid of anything!
With Gavin's help, I finally climbed the outer wall of the back door of the school.
MC: I wanted to do this a long time ago.
I clapped my hands, turned my head, Gavin was still standing under the wall, looking at me with a little speechless and a little funny.
MC: It doesn't matter, there is no one in the security room and no one in the school building. Come up soon.
Gavin touched his lips, with an expression of defeat by me.
He easily climbed up the wall and sat down beside me.
Gavin: Ready?
He seemed to see my hesitation and looked at me holding back a smile.
Gavin: I will count down for you?
This is the end of the matter, regret is useless. I took a deep breath and slowly released the fingers that were holding behind me.
Gavin: Three, two---
Before "One" hasn’t shouted out, I subconsciously let go of my hand because of tension, and my falling body was quickly surrounded by a gust of wind.
The violent heartbeat hit the tympanic membrane, and we landed safely on the ground.
MC: I didn't seem to have eaten so much just now.
Gavin: Can't walk anymore?
MC: ...I'm afraid you won't be able to hold it.
Gavin: Hold tight.
As if to verify this sentence, his hand pierced my knees and hugged me to the direction of the school building.
MC: But like this...!!
Gavin gently raised the corners of her lips.
Gavin: No one, is afraid of anything.
***
We came to Gavin's classroom.
The classroom door was not locked. I turned on the light, saw that the writing on the blackboard had not been cleaned.
MC: Gavin, which table is yours?
Gavin was a little surprised. He looked around and pointed to the back of the classroom by the window.
Gavin: There.
MC: Is this one?
I walked to the back of the classroom and stared curiously at the graffiti on this table.
MC: "Early" was carved upside down on the table,... I can't tell that you are quite easy to learn.
Gavin: …It’s the back one.
I followed Gavin's gaze and looked back. A desk was in the corner next to the wall.
MC: But after so many years, It must have changed many seats, and the table may not be this one.
I took the opportunity to sit down in the seat where Gavin had been, and looked around.
MC: Um... the vision from the blackboard is not very good.
MC: But the ventilation is good, it should be comfortable to sleep here in the afternoon.
I don't know if it was because of listening to my serious comments, there was a sporadic smile on his lips.
Gavin: Why are you talking about that suddenly?
MC: I told you before, we organized ordinary citizens and Evolver to build a wishing wall.
MC: I thought I would see a lot of fanciful and weird wishes, but after seeing it, I realized that this was not the case.
MC: "I want to eat hot pot for the last time", "Reunion with my family", "I want to reconcile with the lover who broke up"...
MC: That’s why I realized, everyone’s strongest wish is, actually a regret that has not been realized.
MC: That's why...
I want to make up for these regrets.
We left the classroom, and walked down the stairs. The sound of different footsteps echoed in the dim staircase.
Gavin: Are you scared?
MC: Hm?
Gavin: I remember many horror legends circulated in schools.
He slowed down as he spoke, always keeping a step away from me in front of him.
I hesitated for a moment and wanted to tell Gavin that I was not afraid.
In other words, I'm more afraid that the road under my feet will be finished soon than I'm afraid of these stories.
I hope the stairs below my feet can be longer, preferably without end.
MC: .....Gavin.
I stood on the edge of the steps, turned my head, and could not help calling his name.
A repressed impulse, drove me to do something.
He stood on a step lower than me, stopped, and looked at me with some doubts.
The few rays of light that leaked out of the window fell between us, cutting light and dark apart.
This light is like a crease, and I stand in front of him now, as if witnessing the folding of the years that have separated us.
Gavin: I know what you want to say.
His voice was lightened for an instant, with a sure smile.
The next second, he bent down, clasped my chin, and kissed me.
.
- Part 5-
The dim lights on both sides of the road passed through the dense leaves, scattered on the ground.
The library didn’t open, Gavin and I were strolling around the empty campus.
There seemed to be a warm touch remaining on the lips, I looked away pretending to be calm, always embarrassed to meet Gavin's gaze.
The bell rang in the distance, and the ginkgo leaves rustled down.
For a time, none of us spoke.
The meteors in the sky are getting denser, and my heart is beating faster and faster.
An uneasy premonition told me, that moment was approaching.
MC: Although shooting stars can be seen every day, it seems that many wishes are too late.
I pretended to smile with ease, breaking the deadlock between us. Gavin seemed to perceive something, and his amber-colored eyes looked at me.
Gavin: MC, You haven't finished what you just said.
Gavin: You keep asking about my wishes, what about yours?
MC: My wish...
My voice couldn't help but stop.
The ginkgo leaves on the branches are crumbling, and some are knocking on the windows of the school building behind them.
These leaves rustle on the branches in summer, and they creak when they fall in autumn. Every leaf makes a nice sound, but I have never noticed it.
I suddenly knew what my wish was.
I want to walk slowly at the school gate before the class bell rings.
I want to look up in the library and take a good look at the teenager sleeping opposite me.
I want to catch the wind at the age of seventeen, and say goodbye to him before the ginkgo leaves fall.
I looked up at Gavin, suddenly I wanted to cry.
MC: What if my wish will never come true?
Gavin was taken aback, for a long time, he rubbed the top of my head.
Gavin: Then go ahead.
Gavin: The wish that may not be reached now, but if you come back one day, it's already by your side.
I took a deep breath and grabbed his hand.
MC: Gavin, I am going to do something very important now.
MC: I kept busying myself a few days ago, thinking that if I didn't think about it, I wouldn't be sad until that time.
MC: But now I want to thank you, you gave me the courage to face it.
I felt like crying, but still managed to squeeze a smile.
MC: I'm leaving.
Gavin was silent, he gently stretched out his hand and stroked my face.
Gavin: I seem to be very bad at saying goodbye, and I have never been able to say goodbye to you every time.
Gavin didn't ask why or where I was going. He seemed to have known about this a long time ago.
Just hugged my arm hard and hot, as if to hold something at the last moment.
MC: This time it's my turn to say goodbye to you.
MC: We have experienced so many things, so this time is nothing.
I feel my body is getting lighter and lighter, and my limbs are gradually losing consciousness.
Perhaps that moment has come, my mind is getting harder and harder to concentrate, only vaguely seeing deeper and deeper sadness in my eyes.
Tumblr media
MC: You told me...
MC: Regardless of the wind, the pigeon has its own direction, and I think I should do the same.
MC: But I am a person who has no sense of direction. I may go the wrong way and it will take a long time to get back to you...
Tears still fell unconvincingly, I sucked my mouth and wanted to speak again, but Gavin interrupted my words firmly.
Gavin: It doesn't matter if you go the wrong way.
Gavin: It doesn't matter if you come late.
Gavin: When I was seventeen, you let me know the direction of the wind.
Gavin: So it’s the same for you, just walk in your direction, no matter where you lead...
Gavin: My wish, is to meet you.
The white light was like a trickle, slowly seeping from the girl's body, illuminating the whole night.
MC: When the time comes, please correct my direction.
Feathers fluttered slowly from the girl's body.
The sky seemed to show a gleam of light, and the wine fell on the white feathers piled up under the girl's feet.
Gavin stood there quietly for a long time, his eyes always on the place where the girl disappeared.
He looked at the feathers scattered on the ground and the ginkgo that was blown away by the wind, his lips moved slightly and his hands slowly dropped.
The clear and distant "ding dong" echoed in the empty campus---
The bell rang after class.

ryūnosuke tanaka
- karasuno had made it to the nationals, and right before their game against Tsubakihara, lil ol Tanaka had to use the bathroom
- a horrible decision really, just ask hinata
- he walks in and hears your trash ex talking crap abt you
“Yeah, can you believe it? I saw my ex here, Y/n. I think she’s the manager for her team? Karasuno. Is she really that desperate for attention from other guys?”
- Tanaka is p i s s e d like, no one gets to talk about his precious love without experiencing the wrath from Ryūnosuke Tanaka
- So mans just straight up walks to your ex, “gently” taps him on the shoulder to get his attention, and starts defending your honour
“Y/n? Y/n L/n? The most beautiful, gorgeous, precious girl in the world? That Y/n?”
“Uh, yeah? Who are y—”
“Hi I’m the new boyfriend, and let me just tell you...”
- Tanaka goes oFF he’s not letting this douche bag of an ex get his way, he straight up just goes on a 2 hours speech about how perfect you were
- and how much of a douche your ex was
- Eventually, Hinata finds Tanaka in the bathroom (since his stomach was actin up lol) and goes to alert the other guys + you
- So, the whole gang is here, Daichi and Suga have to drAG Tanaka away from your ex while Noya hypes him up
- You have to calm him down and ask him why the hell he was yelling at someone in the bathroom
“Your ex was talking shit about you, I’m not just gonna let them do that”
- You’re immediately like 🥺🥺 Tanakaaaa you didn’t have to do that omg I love you sm
- When it’s finally time play these guys Tanaka is surprisingly calm, like it’s actually terrifying
- Oh and you bet Tanaka’s going all out he is on fire, he’s landing every spike and you can practically hear the impact on it
- Right after he lands a spike he celebrates with his team and stares directly at your ex who’s shooketh 😳
“Yeah take that! You regret breaking up with Y/n now?”
“Tanaka stOoOoP omg—”
- After Karasuno wins he gives you the most passionate kiss, in front of your ex and you pull away blushing
- Your ex just rolls his eyes and goes to pack up with his team while Tanaka’s looking all smug and Noya’s hyPED
yuu nishinoya
- The boys were getting ready for the match against Johzenji, and were just doing some basic warmups
- You had to help Kyoko and Yachi with something so you weren’t in the gym at the moment
- But your asshole of an ex was talking shit about you, very loudly 😳 and very obnoxiously too
- This mf, instead of practicing and doing fricken warmups, he’s talking crap abt you, and you weren’t even in the vicinity!
- But your boyfriend was, oh and he heard everything, every single word that came out of you ex’s mouth
“Pfft yeah she’s still annoying as ever, not surprised she’s dating the dude that’s 5’2”
- Ohh big mistake bud, not only did you insult his perfect Gf, but his height as well? Like dang pick one or the other dude
- So, Noya can’t take it anymore he’s been holding back bc he’s supposed to be warming up for the game but at this point he just couldn’t
- He straight up runs over to the other side of the gym to knock some sense into the jerk
- Tanaka follows not to stop him (although he is a bit worried 😳) but to hype him up bc that’s his best friend’s gf you don’t get to do that
- Asahi is scared shitless so Ennoshita has to keep the horny tornado in check, while Suga is conflicted
“What the hell did you say? Don’t you dare insult Y/n again! This is why she left your sorry ass! Who are you talk shit about my beautiful girlfriend I’ll fight you right now—”
- Ahem well, as you can see he’s very pissed off and uh he ends up getting scolded by coach Ukai
- except at the very end of him scolding he gives noya a few pointers on how to defend your gf without showing bad sportsmanship
- You witness the whole thing and just go up to Noya to calm him down a little
“Thank you, but you didn’t have to go off like that,”
“Yeah I did, Im not letting that douche talk shit about my crazy hot girlfriend”
- noya stop this isn’t the time 😳🥵
- During the game he is extremely focused and there’s this terrifying aura that’s escaping him
- Like Asahi might actually shit his pants just standing next to him
- Karasuno absolutely destroys Johzenji bc Noya is not letting that ball drop on their side of the court
- After the game, like Tanaka Noya straight up kisses you in front of your ex, leaving you a blushing mess as Noya gives him a smug look
kei tsukishima
- aHEM um, alright get ready folks bc this is a scary one
- So it’s Kagugawa vs Karasuno and Yamaguchi is sort of wandering around with Hinata right before the game probably to try and cool their nerves 💀💀
- When they hear your someone talking abt you
“My ex is here we’re vs her team, I know yeah, she’s probably so annoying”
- Dude Yamaguchi and Hinata have never ran faster in their entire lives, they immediately go to tsukki and it’s just a scream fest
“TSUKKI THERES SOMEONE TALKING ABT Y/N!”
“yeAH!! and he was all like ‘she’s probably so annoying’”
“mHM AND—”
“okay I think I got it, where are they?”
- shits about to go down, when Tsukki gets mad, he doesn’t lose is cool, instead he keeps a level head and strategize on how to completely destroy his opponent
- so Yams and Hinata drag him to where your ex was and point him out, and he’s stILL on the phone
“Mhm, yeah she’s super annoying”
- Oh Tsukki is pissed off, he has this intimidating aura coming from him as he approaches the dude that’s shitting on you
“You’re the ex? Yikes...😬”
- Tsukki will wait for what he has to say and the whole time he just has the biggest smirk on his face, like it’s about to go down
- Yams and Sho are hyped uP but they’re waiting behind the door bc they’re babies and they’re scared
- Mm Tsukki does not hold back, he straight up roasts this dudes ass, mans just releases all the salt that’s stored in him
“Mhm yeah, that’s pretty pathetic”
“Heh lame”
“Wow...I can’t believe she really dated you”
- Yeah that’s not that much salt
- Tanaka find the three of them in the bathroom and as much as he wants Tsukki to keep going, they have to get ready for the game
- During the game, your ex tries to spike and he’s instantly shut down my Tsukki and his 6’3 ass, It’s quite hilarious 😌
- Anyways, Tsukki blocks your ex every single time wiTH A SMIRK, mans is not holding back on this bitch
- He says it’s bc he was predictable
- Later, Karasuno beats Kagugawa and Tsukki hardcore glares at your ex like it’s pretty scary since Tsukki is one to act all sassy rather than mad when he gets irritated
“You don’t talk shit about her, ever”
- SUDHDJD DAMN TSUKKI CHILLL
- You watch all of this happen and you immediately ask your boyfriend if something was wrong bc you’re a tad bit worried
“We just had a disagreement that’s all”
“uHH YEAH RIGHT TSUKKI WENT OFF EARLIER IN THE BATHROOM—”
tobio kageyama
- Um another scary bitch please do not talk trash about his gf when he’s around
- He’s probably filing his nails away from his team bc he needs his peace and quiet and doesn’t wanna get bullied by Hinata and Tsukki
- When he hears a guy talking very loudly to his friend, now usually he’d ignore them or move spots but like this dude is talking abt you
- So, he stays for a bit and listens to what he has to say. Who even is this dude? Why does he know you? Why is talking to loud like please shut the f—
“Pfft yeah my ex is here with her volleyball team, I talked to her earlier and oh my god she’s exactly the same when I first dated her”
- I’m not sure if that’s a roast sorry I’m bad at these
- Oh now Kags is pissed, see he was already a little irked that this jerk was your ex but he was also talking trash abt you? Nahh
- He throws his nail file on the ground and stomps right up to this douche to smack some sense in him
“Yeah she’s hella annoy—”
“Why don’t you shut the fuck up?”
“Who tf—”
- So Kageyama is also unusually “calm” about the whole situation which makes it even more terrifying
- Kageyama will most likely go off and tell this dude that he has no business talking abt his gf like that
- he’ll focus more on dissing the dude and let me tell you this dude’s roasts h u r t
- like his insults are like 90% swear words
“goblin lookin ass”
“long titty no nipple lookin ass”
“get outta here you abominable fuck waffle”
- Imagine this scary ass dude coming up to you, telling you to shut the fuck up, then realizing this is Tobio Kageyama, The King of the Court, the incredible setter that has precise aim, the 2nd half of the freak duo, going off on how you should stfu abt his gf
- oh and you’re facing him on your next game
- and he absolutely obliterates your sorry ass
- his sets are perfect, he blocks every single fuckin spike you make, and when you think he’s going setting to #10 think again bc he will do a setter dump
- basically he’s on fire and tear the other team to shreds it’s kind of scary actually, hinata was sweating buckets when kageyama served since he looked so terrifying at the moment
- after the game, kageyama would want to leave immediately he doesn’t want to see your ex anymore
“You doing okie? Did something happen with you and him before the game?”
“Yep, but it’s nothing don’t worry about it”
- kags you have that creepy smile again stop you’re scaring y/n

October 24
When the wards were removed yesterday evening they showed that Nightwind had been by at dusk, trying to peer in. Also, Cheeter. And a huge, lean wolfish-looking creature.
And the Things were all still held by their restraints, though struggling enthusiastically. I was feeling a little worse for my usage, but I forced a spring into my step and went and strolled past the church. Tekela was perched atop it and she stirred and studied me as I went by, but we exchanged no words. As soon as I was past, though, I glanced back and saw that she was gone. Good. I went home and slept.
This morning, I learned from Larry that Mrs. Enderby had run off to town as soon as word of Rastov’s death became current. Later in the day, the Great Detective had shown up to view the remains and the premises. I brought Larry up to date on everything that had happened after I’d left him, and he assured me that he had not been by the house last night. He told me that he intended to rescue Lynette, but that she was safe enough for now. If he freed her too early there would be pursuit both physical and nonphysical, now the power was rising strongly; and more importantly, there would be time for the vicar to make other plans, jeopardizing some unknown innocent. The timing, he said, would be very important. Weakening the vicar this way, he decided, could well be his main part in things. I told him that I’d help any way I could. I rested a lot afterwards and visited with Graymalk. It began to rain late that night, a steady drizzle. Jack was in his laboratory, distilling essences or something like that. I had spoken with him last night, of course, between midnight and one, keeping him current on all particulars of my adventures.
“Isn’t your association with Jill a little — awkward — this far along in the Game?” I’d said, near to one o’clock.
“Strictly professional,” he had replied. “Besides, she’s a good cook. And what about you and the cat?”
“We get along well,” I’d said. “Any chance of your getting Jill to change her mind about opening?”
“I don’t think so,” he’d answered.
“She’s not making you think about switching, I hope?”
“Of course not!”
“Well, if I may speak freely — “ The clock struck one and I couldn’t.
I watched the darkened windows flood for a while, made my rounds, and slept some more.
When all hell breaks loose in our vicinity, it does it with style. I was awakened by an enormous thunderclap, sounding as if it had occurred just overhead; and the brightness of the lightning stroke had been visible through my closed eyelids. Suddenly, I was on my feet in the front hall, not certain how I had gotten there. Along with the echoes of the crash, however, my mind held memory of the sounds of breaking glass.
The mirror had shattered. The Things were slithering out. I began barking immediately.
I heard an exclamation from the room where Jack worked, followed by the sound of some instrument or book being dropped. Then the door opened and he was hurrying toward me. When he saw the slitherers he called to me, “Snuff, find a container!” and he returned to the laboratory, where I heard a cabinet opened. I looked about. I raced into the parlor, slitherers spreading like a slow tidal wave at my back. Upstairs, the Thing in the Steamer Trunk began beating upon its confines with frantic exertion. I heard wood splinter as it struck. And there were rattles from the attic. Another flash created a moment of yellow day beyond the windows, and the thunderclap that came with it shook the house.
There was nothing in the parlor in the way of a mirror, but on a side table near the door stood a partly full (partly empty?) bottle of port wine, of the ruby variety. Recalling that this species casts a spell within the bottle, I reared and pushed it off of the table with my paw, so that it fell upon a rug rather than the floor’s wood. It did not shatter, and its cork remained in place. There came another flash and another crash. The Things Upstairs continued their noisy activity, with indication that at least the inhabitant of the steamer trunk had gotten free. A glance hallward showed me the steady, continuous exodus of the Things from the Mirror. I heard Jack’s footfalls. An uncanny glow began to fill the room and the hall and it did not seem entirely attributable to the internal incandescence of the slitherers.
Rolling the bottle hallward, I saw Jack standing at the hall’s far end, a wand in his hand. It was the no-nonsense wand he had used to transfer the slitherers from mirror to mirror earlier, and not the powerful Game artifact — the Closing Wand — which was also in his possession. While he is master of the Knife (or vice-versa), the Knife is not, technically, a Game tool, though it may be used as a part of the Game. The Knife is the embodiment of his curse as well as a special source of power. He saw me and he saw the bottle at the same time that I saw him.
Jack raised the wand and used it to part the flowing mass which separated us. Then he came forward and it slithered closed behind him as he advanced. Coming up beside me, he picked up the bottle then, held it in his left hand and uncorked it with his teeth. There came another thunder roll and the eerie lighting assumed a definite greenish cast, giving Jack a corpselike appearance.
There was a scrambling sound overhead, and the yellow-eyed Thing from the Steamer Trunk bounded down the stair, cracking the banister as it came.
“Deal with it, Snuff!” Jack cried. “I can’t!” and he turned his attention and his wand upon the Things from the Mirror, compelling the nearest to enter the bottle.
I gathered myself and sprang across the flow of slitherers, moving to the foot of the stair, my lips curled back and hair bristling as the Thing came down. Too bad its neck was so short. I knew I was going to have to tear out its throat. The green light hung about it and the rain sounded like thrown gravel against the roof and windows. The Thing spread its arms — ending in very nasty talons — very wide, and I knew that I had to move immediately, in and out, and accomplish it in a matter of seconds if I were to emerge relatively unscathed — which I would need to be, to help deal with the sequel, which, even now, I could hear scrambling down the attic stair. The lightning flashed again. I roared to the accompaniment of thunder as I launched myself at an awkward angle.
I struck the wall on my way down, for the Thing’s arm struck me after my jaws had closed like a trap and I’d applied torque with my entire body, crunching and tearing away at its gullet before I let go to drop back. It was the arm and not the talons that connected with me, though. I dropped, momentarily senseless, to the floor, a terrible taste in my mouth, as the Thing from the Attic came into sight at the head of the stair and commenced its descent.
Seeing the Thing from the Steamer Trunk reeling and clutching at its throat, dripping steaming juices, the Thing from the Attic slowed for a moment, regarding the carnage. Then it rushed downward.
I pulled myself to my feet, preparing to face it as it thrust the reeling one aside and came on. Instead, though, the dying one seemed to take its descent as another attack, swung toward it, and raked it with its talons. The Thing from the Attic seized it, snarling, and bit at its twisted face. At my back, I could hear Jack moving about, bottling slitherers. A moment later, the banister gave way, and the pair on the stair were in the air.
Lightning flashed again, and again, and again, thunder coming and staying, becoming its steady accompaniment; and yet more flashes walked through the sky, entered at the windows, fluoresced the ubiquitous green to an eye-piercing intensity. The sounds of the rain were submerged. The house began to shudder and creak. Copies of The Strand Magazine fluttered floorward from the mantel. Pictures fell from the walls, sets of Dickens and Surtees from their shelves; vases, candelabra, glasses, and trays slid from tables; plaster descended like snow from the ceiling. Prince Albert stared at the blizzard through cracked glass. Martin Farquhar Tupper lay atop Elizabeth Barrett Browning, their covers torn.
When the Thing from the Attic rose — shaking its head, rolling its eyes, casting wild glances about — the other lay still upon the floor, steam still rising from its scaly throat, head twisted to its left.
I seemed to hear Growler, prompting me to try for the throat again, and I slashed forward, attempting to repeat my earlier move.
I missed my target as it drew back, attempting, belatedly, to grapple me to it. My impact staggered it, however, and I slashed its left shoulder as I fell.
Immediately, as I secured my footing, I seized its right leg above the ankle and ground down for a bone-cruncher of a bite. It recovered quickly and kicked me with the other foot. I hung on for another second’s damage before releasing it and scrambling away, able to ride with the second kick. One, I figured I could take in trade for something that would slow its movements. But I lack the bulldog sensibility as well as the physique.
The lightning and thunder had continued steadily the entire while — the thunder now having achieved the state of a continuous roaring, as of a tornado singing its deep- throated song about the house — and the intensity of the light had us moving through a tableau of green and black, where tiny sparks now danced upon the surfaces of everything metallic, and all of my hair was on end for reasons other than the stimulus of combat. It was obvious now that this was no normal storm but a manifestation of magical attack.
I tried for the Thing’s other ankle and missed. Turning, I slashed at the arm which swung at me. I missed that, too, but it missed me, also.
I darted away, growling, roared and feinted to its right. It put weight on the injured ankle to reach after me and went off balance, struggled to recover. I was behind it immediately, passing on that side, and worrying the ankle again, from the rear.
It bellowed then as it tried to reach me, but I hung on until, finally, it cast itself over backwards in an attempt to fall upon and crush me. I relaxed my hold and tried to move away as it did so, but a flailing arm struck me on the head, knocking me to the floor, doubling my vision.
Therefore, it was two Jacks that I saw, wielding two blades, piercing two monsters’ throats.
Even as I crawled out from beneath the Attic Thing’s outflung arm, the basement door crashed open, and in several quick bounds the Thing from the Circle was upon me.
“Now, hound, I eat you!” it said.
I shook my head, trying to clear it.
“Snuff! Get back!” Jack told me, turning toward it.
Dzzp!
The starlight danced upon the blade in his hand, and I needed no further persuasion. I crawled toward the farther end of the now slitherless hall, passing a corked bottle of port and spirits as I went. Pieces of mirror gave back green dogs with jagged edges.
I watched as Jack finished his business, ready in case he required assistance, grateful that he did not.
Plaster continued to rain down. Everything loose was on the floor. The thunder and the light and the house’s shuddering had almost become a part of the environment. I suppose that if you lived with it long enough, there might come a time when you stopped noticing. I didn’t really want to wait and see.
Dzzp!
As I watched the Thing from the Circle finally fall, following a masterful upstroke, I turned my stronger emotions toward the perpetrator of the onslaught which had caused their release. It was more than merely annoying, having had to put up with them all these weeks and then to lose them this way before they could fulfill their function. Under the proper constraints, they had been intended as the bodyguard for our retreat, should one be necessary, following the events of the final night — after which they would have had their freedom in some isolated locale, obtaining the opportunity to add to the world’s folklore of a darker nature. Now, ruined, the buffer plan. They weren’t essential, but they might have proved useful should we have to exit pursued by Furies.
When the business was done, Jack traced pentagrams with his blade, calling upon the powers that would cleanse the place. With the first one, the green glow faded; with the second, the house stopped its shuddering; with the third, the thunder and lightning went away; with the fourth, the rain ceased.
“Good show, Snuff,” he said then.
There came a knocking on the back door. We both headed in that direction, the blade vanishing and Jack’s hair and clothing getting rearranged along the way.
He opened the door. Jill and Graymalk stood before us.
“Are you all right?” Jill asked.
Jack smiled, nodded, and stepped aside. “Won’t you come in?” he said. They did, though not before I’d noted that it seemed perfectly dry outside.
“I’ll invite you into the parlor,” Jack said, “if you don’t mind stepping over a few dismembered ogres.”
“Never did before,” the lady answered, and he led her in that direction.
The parlor floor was full of what had been on the shelves, the tables, the mantelpiece, and everything was powdered with plaster. Jack raised the sofa cushions one by one, punching each and turning it upside-down before replacing it. She took the seat he offered her, which afforded a view of the broken mirror and slashed demonic carcasses sprawled in the hall.
The clock chimed 11:45.
“I’ll have to offer you sherry,” Jack said. “The port’s gone bad.”
“Sherry will be fine.”
He repaired to the cabinet, fetching back two glasses and a bottle. After he had poured a pair and given her one he raised the other and looked at her over it.
“What prompts your visit?” he asked.
“I hadn’t seen you in over an hour,” she replied, taking a small sip of sherry.
“That is true,” he answered, sipping his own. “But it is often that way with us. Every day, in fact. Still…”
“I refer to your house as well as your person. I heard a small sound earlier — as of the tinkling of a crystal bell — from this direction. When I looked this way I saw nothing but a well of impenetrable darkness.”
“Ah, the old crystal bell effect,” he mused. “Haven’t seen that one since Alexandria. So you didn’t hear any thunder, see any lightning?”
“Not at all.”
“Not badly done then, though I hate to admit it,” he said, taking another sip. “Was it the vicar?”
“I’d guess. Most likely still irritated with Snuff here.”
“Perhaps you should have a few words with him.”
“I don’t believe in giving warnings. But I give anybody two attempts on us, to discover their folly. If they do not, and they try a third time, I kill them. That’s all.”
“He sent those creatures after you?” She gestured toward the hall.
“No,” he replied. “They were my own. They got loose during the attack. It must have involved a general manumission spell. Pity. I had better use for the fellows than this.”
She set down her glass, rose, visited the hall, and inspected them. She returned a little later.
“Impressive,” she said. “What they are, and what got done to them.” She seated herself again. “What I’m wondering most, though, is what you’re going to do with them now.”
“Hm,” he said, toying with his glass. “It’s rather far to the river.” I nodded vigorously.
“I suppose I could just stow them in the basement, throw a piece of canvas over them, or something like that.”
“They might start to smell pretty bad.”
“They already smell pretty bad.”
“True. But it would be awkward if they were discovered on the premises, and when they start to decompose it might lead someone official this way.”
“Conceded. I suppose I could just dig a big hole somewhere and bury them.”
“You wouldn’t want to do it around here, and they look too husky to lug far.”
“You’ve a point there. Have you any ideas?”
“No,” she said, sipping her sherry.
I barked once and they looked at me. I glanced at the clock. It was approaching midnight.
“I think Snuff has a suggestion,” she said. I nodded.
“He’ll have to wait a few minutes.”
“I can’t,” Graymalk said to me suddenly.
“Cats are that way,” I replied.
“What do you want to do with them?”
“I say we take them over to Owen’s place and stuff them into some of his wicker baskets. Then we haul them up into the big oak tree, set fire to them, and run like hell.”
“Snuff, that’s grotesque.”
“Glad you like it, too,” I said. “And it makes for a great Halloween gag, even if it is a little early.”
The clock struck twelve.
The humans bought my idea; and we went out to do it. And ah, my foes, and oh, my friends, they gave a lovely light.

“All I’m saying is that I think it will be more fun if there were more of us!” you try to plead your case as you and Loki enter your bunker.
“Sweetheart, more people will just result in us getting caught. We already have the UN on our asses. Let’s lay low for a bit and enjoy some time off,”
He pulls you close and bites his lip as he stares down at you.
You and Loki couldn’t be happier. You two had no one to stop you as you lived your villainous lives. The world was still mourning the Avengers, months after their tragic death, as you two caused catastrophe around the world. In North Korea, Loki created a black hole and had people sucked into it, experiencing their worst nightmares. In Russia, you created a monster tornado, taunting the place and crushing everything that stood in its way. In California you two lit the place up in flames, almost putting the whole entire state in ashes.
You two documented your crimes and just like always, watched the news of the aftermath as if it were your favorite movie. Now you wanted more people with you because it gets lonely with it just being you and Loki in this bunker, you wanted company.
“Lokiiiii,” you whined, “I can just summon someone, they’ll be under my control, there won’t be any risks!,” you try to reason with him but he was still skeptical.
“While I understand your love and drive to keep practicing your necromancy, I still say not yet. Come on, we’re the most talked about thing right now! They’re calling us Armageddon personified! Let us celebrate this moment,”
“Pleeeaaaaase,” you bat your lashes and pout, twisting your body back and forth as you waited for him to reply.
“Just one other person, Y/N. I’m not kidding,” he points his finger, finally giving in and you start jumping up and down in excitement.
“Yes! Yes Yes!,” you squeal as you run in a small circle and wave your hands.
“Okay okay okaaay!,” Loki stops you, “Now that I’ve granted you your wish, can we have our celebratory sex now?,”
You stand on your tip toes and kiss his chin, “Yes, my King,”
-------
You two lied in bed with a blanket over you as you two stared at the ceiling.
“Who do you think I should summon? Hela?,” you ask him
“Absolutely, most definitely not!,” he almost breaks his neck to look at you.
“What about that doctor we tortured not too long after the tower incident? What was his name? It was something weird... Like.. Dr. Peculiar, Dr. Dubious? Dr. Suspicious,”
“Dr. Strange, you twit,”
“Wow, rude,” you gasp, “Anyway, what about him?,”
“Uh no. As soon as he comes back, we’re goners,”
“Ugh, this is harder than I thooouuught,” you slap your hands on the mattress and sigh.
“Why not Skurge? he was like a lost puppy. Following anything you tell him to do,”
“He was also a fucking idiot,” you laugh
“Doug?,” Loki tries again
“Who the fuck is Doug?!,”
“Ooookay, maybe not then,”
You two think long and hard about who you could possibly bring back to life to be your third party and participate in the game that is ruining lives of those below you. It finally clicks in your head and you gasp, sitting up in bed.
“I’ve got it!,” you lift your finger as if a light bulb just went off
Loki stared at you and mumbled an “Uh oh,” while staring at you wide eyed, “This can’t be good,”
--------
“You worry too much, my love,” you pat his cheek as you light the last candle. You take your sacred dagger and cut your palm and add a drop of your crimson to the four poles around the circle of ash and sage.
“You’ve been holding off on telling me who you decided to summon. Of course I’m a little worried. It could be my father for crying out loud,”
“Your father was a lying, secretive, fake piece of shit. I wouldn’t choose him if my life depended on it,”
Loki’s shoulders seemed to have dropped in relief as you shut the door and turned the lights off.
You stood at the East pole of the circle and placed a piece of red metal on the drop of blood. You go to the South pole of the circle and place a pair of glasses over the red dot. On the West pole, you place a wire and once you get to the North pole of the circle, you place something of yours over the drop and it was a picture of you and the summoned. You went back to stand by Loki and began chanting the spell under your breath, chanting slowly and quietly until the flames on the candles started to get bigger and you raised your voice along with the flames.
A rush of air started to blow around the room and one of the candles tipped over, lighting the circle on fire as well as the belongings of who is being summoned.
“Rise!,” you raise your hands as you shout and the circle of flames makes a wall before immediately falling and you two are left there staring at the empty circle.
“N-no one is there,” Loki points to the circle.
“They won’t always appear in the circle, they’ll appear anywhere in the vicinity of the summoning,”
Your point was proven when you heard a crash of glass downstairs.
“What the hell are you doing?!,”- - “Meee? Look at what you did, dimwit,”
“Sweetheart, I don’t like the sound of that,”
You and Loki rush downstairs and follow the voices to the kitchen
“It’s been a bit of a while okay? When I died I expected to have stayed dead!,”
“Well yeah duh. But who the hell would raise us from the fucking dead?,”
You and Loki stand in the doorway of the kitchen at the two bickering people.
“Y/N, I said one person!,” he gawks and turns to you, “You had one job, just the one!,”
You didn’t hear him as the two people stopped bickering to look at you two.
“Oh no, not him, please God anyone else but him!,”
“Y/N?!,”
You smiled in confusion as why how two people are standing in front of you when you asked for just one. You did everything right, maybe your ancestors were having a two for one deal.
“Y/N, did you bring us back?,”
“I sure did,” you stand straight and nod proudly.
“Just when I thought I was finally put out of my misery,”
“Yeah, me too,” Loki rolls his eyes,
You slap his arm and softly scold before turning back to the two resurrected in front of you.
“Don’t be that way Brucey,” you pout and he just pinches the bridge of his nose.
“How and why are we here, Y/N. You literally killed us all,”
You frown and cross your arms, “Well you don’t sound so grateful Tony!,”
“Can we send them back? Please, for the love of everything that is evil and disturbing!,”
“Oh Loki stop acting like a baby!,” you stomp your feet and scowl at him,
“Sweetheart, they’re gonna kill us!,”
“Damn right we are,” Bruce nodded and started turning green. You smack him upside his head and he turned back to his normal shade, “H-how the hell did you do that?,”
“You’re under my control. I control you, you can’t hurt me. Therefore, you can not Hulk out without my say so,” you smile and you can hear Loki gasp in relief.
“Y/N, what the hell!,” Bruce throws his hands in the air.
Tony is just staring you with his typical “what the fuck” face but you’re just as chipper as ever. Smiling back at them, they had no idea what you had in store.
“Why. are. we. here?,” Tony spoke in staccato and you looked to Loki who was just leaning on the wall looking completely unimpressed with you.
“I got lonely. I wanted some company in causing catastrophe around the place,” you swirled your finger in the air in a circle, “Loki said I could raise someone, I was just expecting you but I got Bruce as well which makes it all the more fun!,” you clap your hands and they just face palm at you.
“How the hell did you manage to raise us both from the dead?,” Bruce asks running a hand over his face.
“Hmph, You don’t sound very appreciative,”
“Maybe because you fucking killed us,” Tony yelled at you and you saw the betrayal in his eyes. He was one of the few to actually believe in you and stand by your side to defend you when the others came at you. So you understood why he felt the way he did.
“I know I-,” you looked to Loki once again and he just put his hands up in surrender, “I made a bad judgement call... it should have just been Steve.. a-and Natasha, Clint... Bruce you were in the middle..,”
“It shouldn’t have been anyone! You did this to her!,” Tony pointed to Loki and he never looked so irritated but you stepped in his way to block him from Loki, who hadn’t moved a muscle.
“Tony...it wasn’t him I just... was never meant to be the good guy, y’know?,” you shrug and play with your wedding ring, “Maybe if I wasn’t forced into it, things wouldn’t be like this but.. they are now and I wouldn’t change it for the world. This is my story. Yours was to be the good guy, and every good guy needs a antagonist,”
“But there’s no story if you kill off all the protagonists,” Bruce rolls his eyes and scoffs.
You look over Tony’s shoulder and smile at Bruce, “That’s where you guys come in,”
“Oh it’s definitely the end times,” he sighs, “What do you mean?,”
“Well... you’re the good guys I’m the bad woman. You’re under my control which means you’ll follow all I do which is.. wreak havoc, but you still have your own judgement. There’s no good guy now because I killed them off and I got sick of it so I raise the question... aren’t you guys sick of being the good guys?,”
---------
“I’ve come to terms with you raising these two idiots but now you want to raise the whole brigade, all of which my brother is a part of, to play a game of cat and mouse?,” Loki raises his voice and turns red in the face.
“Don’t yell at meeee,” you whine as you walk around in the vacant conference room in the tower, “You lived to antagonize them, so what’s the problem?,”
“Uuuh, we murdered them, painfully at that!,” he states obviously.
“You truly underestimate me. My dear husband, that hurts,” you wipe a fake tear away and he just looks at you as if you’re insane. But he was too so he had no room to judge.
“My powers can not be subdued. If they catch us, we can easily escape. They cannot stop what they can not understand. I am simply too powerful for them,” you cock an eyebrow and he just shakes his head.
Tony and Bruce were standing in the corner watching as you set a personal item of each of the team around the circle. You’ve come to find out that you used Bruce’s glasses instead of Tony’s and that’s how you ended up raising them both, so you made sure to know whose items belong to who.
They took your offer to be your henchman, realizing the world viewed them as criminals anyway so why not? Might as well go ahead and fully play the part since people had been saying they were.
You cut your palm once again with your sacred dagger and repeated the same steps you took when you raised Tony and Bruce. This time Loki, reluctantly, helped you with this chant.
You made sure to do a pre-spell type thing to make sure they weren’t connected to you, that way they could fight you back.
Once the candles blew out, you were all left standing there in the dark, waiting for any sign that the team came back.
“What the HELL?,”
“Welp... there’s Sammy boy,”
Loki quickly teleported you all to the common room where everyone was and you watched them freak out as they realized they were alive once again.
“Who the hell did this?,” Bucky growls.
“Guilty as charged,” you stuck your hand in the air and they all turned to you scowling. They began running to you, but you simply stuck your hand up freezing them in place but they could still tell what was going on and talk. Just not move to attack you.
“Y/N, brother, what the hell is going on?!,” Thor questions.
“Mmm this is what someone once called... a game of cat and mouse,” your voice had dropped and sounded suspenseful and mysterious.
“What is that supposed to mean?,” Wanda asks, eyeing you, and Loki then to Tony and Bruce, “Why the hell are you two with her?,” her voice cracked and you scowled at the sound, it was such a pathetic noise.
“Being bad isn’t so bad after all,” Bruce shrugged
“What is going on?!,” Steve’s voice rumbles through the room.
“OH!,” you gasp, voice laced with fake surprise, “He speaks!,”
“Y/N, if you let us go and you stop doing this, we won’t turn you in. Just stop this,”
“No can do, Steve-O,” you tsk, “What the hell is the fun in that?,”
They all begin to talk at once and you can only hear bits and pieces here and there about how you’re such an evil bitch, how you’ll burn in and hell, how when they get their hands on you it will be nothing compared to what you’ve done, blah blah blah
“Are you done?,” you ask, “I brought you back so you can continue to do your jobs. Six months of being dead is enough time to sleep. Now it’s time for the real fun,” You grab Loki’s hand while Bruce and Tony step up close behind you two.
“Bruce.. Don’t do this,” Natasha whispers.
“Tony, you’re better than this,” Rhodey yells but they’re not hearing it. They’ve made up their mind and while in some cases people regret being bad, neither of them would take back their choice to stick with you.
“You’ll pay for this. All of this. We won’t stop until we’ve found you all,” Vision grunts in pain as you start to power him down from the inside just by looking at him.
“You’ve all gotta catch us first!,” you release them and they continue to run towards you but you snap your fingers and the four of you are back in your bunker.
“Now what?,” Loki exhales as he sits on the couch, the other two following suit.
“Now... now we wait. We leave red herrings here and there, letting them think they’re onto us then we turn the tables. We gotta drive em insane a bit,”
-------
“She was just here!,” a citizen cried out to Steve, like you said, you all had been leaving red herrings and they were dumb enough to follow them
“Which way?,” Steve asks, breathing heavily.
“I-I don’t know sh-she just disappeared, her and the man while long hair,” the lady cried in fear and distress. Steve did his best to calm her down before running away in a direction that he heard more screams from.
When he was far enough down the street, the woman called for him, “Captain America!,”
Steve turns around and furrows his brows, “Yes, ma’am?,”
“I- I think I just saw her again,” she screams frantically
“Where? Tell me, we have to catch her, she’s extremely dangerous!,”
The woman continues to cry but then she just stops and wipes her tears and begun laughing, this confused Steve. That woman was just yelling in fear since there was an explosion in the area which had everyone on edge.
“They should have taught you better,” the woman’s had gone low and menacing.
“Excuse me?,” Steve didn’t have time for these games, he had a city to save, a world to save.
“You’d think all the effort they put into training you all, you’d have been a lot fucking smarter,” she laughed.
Steve’s face dropped as the woman faded into you. You were standing before his eyes and you were literally just in his grasp. You crossed you arms laughing and shaking your head.
“Man, you guys are a bunch of idiots. To think I was lumped in with you guys,” you scoff and watch him stare back at you in awe.
“Things aren’t always as they seem to be, Golden Boy,” you wave your finger at him in shame and that’s when he remembered he was trying to stop you. He breaks out into a sprint and you blow a kiss before disappearing again, making him fall on his face when he jumps to grab you.
“She’s still on the run, guys,” he speaks into the com and curses under his breath, “She was right in my grasp and I was dumb enough to let her slip out of it,”
------
“Good boooy,” You pet Hulk’s hair as you were on his back and he jumps around the the woods in Germany.
“Hulk not dog,” he grunts
“You’re right. I apologize my sweetness,” you kiss his head and he grunts in approval.
“You see that place over there with all the pretty lights?,” you point into the distance and show him the Brandenburg Gate. The sun was starting to set so the lights illuminating the landmark was easy to spot
He nods is head as you climb off him and sit in the trees,
“Smash,” you lean forward and tell him. He huffs and smiles before jumping out into the town and you smile when you hear the screams echoing as he ruins the place. You see Tony fly over blasting other buildings to ruins. You hear the roar of the quinjet and that’s when the show can really begin. You watch the Avengers leave the jet to try and stop Tony and Hulk but they can’t be stopped. Not with your spell anyway.
Loki appears beside you and smiles at the orange blaze that has come due to a result of the fight.
“You sure you wanna do this?,” Loki asks as he grabs your hand. You two had a plan set in motion and he was starting to get cold feet.
“If you’re not sure about this I can do it alone,”
“I just fear you’ve gone mad,”
“Loki, we’re both mad. Absolutely batshit crazy. There’s nothing more satisfying than letting your opponent think they have you. Remember, cat and mouse baby,” you kiss his cheek before he flashes you all right into the heart of the fight and you call for Hulk and Tony to stop. They appear behind you and you all put your hands up in surrender.
“Forgive me, Captain for I have been bad,” you add some pitch to your voice and Steve just rolls his eyes at you.
“Are you actually going to turn yourself in or disappear?,”
“I would wave a white flag but all I have are the three men behind me,” you laugh at your own joke and all you can hear is the small cries of the people around you.
“Y/N, you’ve gotten yourself in so much shit you’re not even dealing with us anymore,” Clint steps forward, ready to cuff you. You wave your fingers and Hulk turns back into Bruce. You all stand tall and strong, playing the roll of an easy surrender.
Thor shoots Loki down with a lightning bolt and he falls out onto the ground yelling out in pain. You look down at him before looking back to the team.
“What? No moves to save your dear husband?,” Wanda spat.
“Hmm,” you shrug, “We’ve done some bad things,” you smirk and Natasha comes and shoots you with a taser to make you fall out so they could make an easy arrest. You could tell your ancestors were laughing, they saw how stupid the team was. They didn’t think it was suspicious that you all easily turned yourselves over like this?
Once you all were in cuffs that subdued your powers (to their knowledge anyway) they put you on the quinjet and took you to a high security prison in the middle of the desert. You are all stripped to make sure you don’t have any other weapons on you then put into white jumpsuits and throw in different cells. But across the way, you can see Bruce and Tony, and they can see you and Loki.
“Sweetheart, what if we made the wrong move?,” Loki starts to panic once he realized he can’t use his powers. You snap your fingers and his cuffs turn off.
“I thought I told you to stop second guessing me,” you lean your head as you look through the slit in the wall back at him.
“We’ll be gone before sunrise. We’ll be back in the bunker and maybe you can fuck my brains out when we get back?,” you wink at him and a sinister smirk appears on his face.
“Maybe those two can join,” you jerk your head to the two men across the hall who were playing tic-tac-toe through the opening in the wall so they could communicate.
“Absolutely NOT!”
You laugh at his reaction and turn off the cuffs from Tony and Bruce. The guards are just as big of idiots as the team and wouldn’t even realize the connection to your cuffs was off.
“They’ll appear for routine check in a few. Once they leave they won’t be back for another fifteen minutes. That’s when we strike,”
Tony and Bruce nod their heads and stand at attention when the guard comes by to check your cells. You’re standing there smiling and the guard gets in your face, “What’s so fucking funny?,” his gum chewing was obnoxious.
“Oh nothing,” you innocently shrug, “Just being a good girl,”
“Good girl my ass,” he rolls his eyes and puts you against the wall to do a routine check. You’re not sure where they thought you all would get shit from, yeah you could summon it, but you wouldn’t keep it on you, you’re not stupid.
Once the guard checks Loki and you hear the slamming door of the room shut and lock closed you look at the boys and you shed you guys’ white jumpsuits with your powers and create new uniforms for you all. Tony’s suit was now a chrome black while Bruce hulked out and was a darker green than normal.
“The game isn’t over boys,”
---------
The team had sat relaxed in the common area, de-stressing after finally catching you and putting you away for good. They were alive and that’s about the only thing they could thank you for.
They were all sitting on the couch on eating snacks while watching a movie on cable when the movie was cut to the news.
“Just when we thought the world was safe, it has been brought to our attention that the biggest Outlaws the world has ever seen have just broken out of a high security prison for mutants. Only being locked up a few hours ago, the prison appeared up in flames with one message that was sent to the all stations across the world from the four-,”
“Can we ever catch a fucking break?!,” Sam shouts
“Is this fucking thing on?,” your voice cuts through the TV as the news station plays your message.
“Yes, sweetheart,” Loki whispers. You all were dysfunctional villains if they’ve ever seen them but you knew how to play a good game.
“Looks like your precious Avengers have let the world down yet again,” you pout in the video, “My ancestors don’t take kindly to being subdued... so it was quite dumb to think locking me away would actually work in your favor,”
Steve knew you were talking directly to him, he stood from the couch and got closer to the TV to watch.
“You’re like Tom Cat and I’m, Jerry Mouse. You just... can never seem to catch me,” you throw your head back in laughter and Steve punches the TV in anger, cracking it,
“You just gotta be quicker... and smarter. Remember Stevie,” your face still showing up on the screen, just distorted.
“Not everything is what it seems,”

A/N: Thank you to those of you who remain active and give feedback. I’m thinking of removing tags for those who aren’t active... and those who are will obviously stay. I get it, life gets in the way, I’m a full-time college student and I work (I know people juggle things differently), and it’s not all about likes and stuff but I’d at least like to hear a little tid bit of what you guys think and one reblog, that’s all I ask.

So! I put on my research cap and looked up all the dex entries for Gigantamax pokemon (at least the ones available in the game so far). We know from all dex entries from other pokemon, they don’t shy away from telling us if they’re in pain one way or another.
This goes for base forms and Mega Evolutions.
Now I present to you, all the entries
Under a read more because this is fricken long
Duraludon - It's grown to resemble a skyscraper. Parts of its towering body glow due to a profusion of energy. (Sword) The hardness of its cells is exceptional, even among Steel types. It also has a body structure that's resistant to earthquakes. (Shield)
Copperajah - So much power is packed within its trunk that if it were to unleash that power, the resulting blast could level mountains and change the landscape. (Sword) After this Pokémon has Gigantamaxed, its massive nose can utterly demolish large structures with a single smashing blow. (Shield)
Alcremie - Cream pours endlessly from this Pokémon's body. The cream stiffens when compressed by an impact. A harder impact results in harder cream. (Sword) It launches swarms of missiles, each made of cream and loaded with 100,000 kilocalories. Get hit by one of these, and your head will swim. (Shield)
Grimmsnarl - By transforming its leg hair, this Pokémon delivers power-packed drill kicks that can bore huge holes in Galar's terrain. (Sword) Gigantamax energy has caused more hair to sprout all over its body. With the added strength, it can jump over the world's tallest building. (Shield)
Hatterene - This Pokémon can read the emotions of creatures over 30 miles away. The minute it senses hostility, it goes on the attack. (Sword) Beams like lightning shoot down from its tentacles. It's known to some as the Raging Goddess. (Shield)
Centiskorch - Gigantamax energy has evoked a rise in its body temperature, now reaching over 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. Its heat waves incinerate its enemies. (Sword) The heat that comes off a Gigantamax Centiskorch may destabilize air currents. Sometimes it can even cause storms. (Shield)
Sandaconda - Its sand pouch has grown to tremendous proportions. More than 1,000,000 tons of sand now swirl around its body. (Sword) Sand swirls around its body with such speed and power that it could pulverize a skyscraper. (Shield)
Appletun - It blasts its opponents with massive amounts of sweet, sticky nectar, drowning them under the deluge. (Sword) Due to Gigantamax energy, this Pokémon's nectar has thickened. The increased viscosity lets the nectar absorb more damage than before. (Shield)
Flapple - Under the influence of Gigantamax energy, it produces much more sweet nectar, and its shape has changed to resemble a giant apple. (Sword) If it stretches its neck, the strong aroma of its nectar pours out. The scent is so sickeningly sweet that one whiff makes other Pokémon faint. (Shield)
Coalossal - Its body is a colossal stove. With Gigantamax energy stoking the fire, this Pokémon's flame burns hotter than 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. (Sword) When Galar was hit by a harsh cold wave, this Pokémon served as a giant heating stove and saved many lives. (Shield)
Drednaw - It responded to Gigantamax energy by becoming bipedal. First it comes crashing down on foes, and then it finishes them off with its massive jaws. (Sword) In the Galar region, there's a tale about this Pokémon chewing up a mountain and using the rubble to stop a flood. (Shield)
Orbeetle - Its brain has grown to a gargantuan size, as has the rest of its body. This Pokémon's intellect and psychic abilities are overpowering. (Sword) If it were to utilize every last bit of its power, it could control the minds of every living being in its vicinity. (Shield)
Corviknight - Imbued with Gigantamax energy, its wings can whip up winds more forceful than any a hurricane could muster. The gusts blow everything away. (Sword) The eight feathers on its back are called blade birds, and they can launch off its body to attack foes independently. (Shield)
Garbodor - Due to Gigantamax energy, this Pokémon's toxic gas has become much thicker, congealing into masses shaped like discarded toys. (Sword) It sprays toxic gas from its mouth and fingers. If the gas engulfs you, the toxins will seep in all the way down to your bones. (Shield)
Snorlax - Gigantamax energy has affected stray seeds and even pebbles that got stuck to Snorlax, making them grow to a huge size. (Sword) Terrifyingly strong, this Pokémon is the size of a mountain—and moves about as much as one as well. (Shield)
Eevee - Gigantamax energy upped the fluffiness of the fur around Eevee's neck. The fur will envelop a foe, capturing its body and captivating its mind. (Sword) Having gotten even friendlier and more innocent, Eevee tries to play with anyone around, only to end up crushing them with its immense body. (Shield)
Lapras - Over 5,000 people can ride on its shell at once. And it's a very comfortable ride, without the slightest shaking or swaying. (Sword) It surrounds itself with a huge ring of gathered ice particles. It uses the ring to smash any icebergs that might impede its graceful swimming. (Shield)
Kingler - The flow of Gigantamax energy has spurred this Pokémon's left pincer to grow to an enormous size. That claw can pulverize anything. (Sword) The bubbles it spews out are strongly alkaline. Any opponents hit by them will have their bodies quickly melted away. (Shield)
Gengar - Rumor has it that its gigantic mouth leads not into its body, filled with cursed energy, but instead directly to the afterlife. (Sword) It lays traps, hoping to steal the lives of those it catches. If you stand in front of its mouth, you'll hear your loved ones' voices calling out to you. (Shield)
Machamp - The Gigantamax energy coursing through its arms makes its punches hit as hard as bomb blasts. (Sword) One of these Pokémon once used its immeasurable strength to lift a large ship that was in trouble. It then carried the ship to port. (Shield)
Meowth - The pattern that has appeared on its giant coin is thought to be the key to unlocking the secrets of the Dynamax phenomenon. (Sword) Its body has grown incredibly long and the coin on its forehead has grown incredibly large—all thanks to Gigantamax power. (Shield)
Pikachu - Its Gigantamax power expanded, forming its supersized body and towering tail. (Sword) When it smashes its opponents with its bolt- shaped tail, it delivers a surge of electricity equivalent to a lightning strike. (Shield)
Butterfree - Crystallized Gigantamax energy makes up this Pokémon's blindingly bright and highly toxic scales. (Sword) Once it has opponents trapped in a tornado that could blow away a 10-ton truck, it finishes them off with its poisonous scales. (Shield)
Charizard - This colossal, flame-winged figure of a Charizard was brought about by Gigantamax energy. (Sword) The flame inside its body burns hotter than 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. When Charizard roars, that temperature climbs even higher. (Shield)
Tumblr media
Now I know that these could change if we ever get SwSh2 but at the current point in time, this is our info
None of the dex entries say anything about these creatures being in any pain. They gain special abilities and have even helped humans who have been in trouble while they were in those forms.
I’d say that Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing aren’t as harmful as some might think.

Crimson Renegade, Part 1
Tumblr media
Enter me, (s)he says in parentheses
Summary: It’s not even her first day and she’s already getting the Enterprise out of trouble
Pairings: OC/Jim Kirk(Platonic), OC/Leonard McCoy(Eventual Romance)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
My journey to Gamma quadrant has been wholly uneventful. Thank the gods. I had a few gas giants and nebula to befriend but other than that, I had only my thoughts to keep me company.  It has been pure bliss but I know it will be swiftly ending in a matter of days. Well, if I'm lucky, I'll get days.  The USS Enterprise is not known for its tranquil environment.
Speak of the devil-
As I exit warp, at my assigned rendezvous coordinates, my view is littered with debris. Shards of metal and tempered glass glitter around me in the vast expanse. Small chunks bounce off my shield and wings, but it's nothing my ship can’t handle.
"Battle on my first day. Of course," I mutter to myself.
I trigger a quick scan to follow the trajectory of the debris and any lasting remnants of the Enterprise's unique energy signature. Oh, this is bad. Looking at the projected course the Enterprise took, it spans roughly 3.7 parsecs. On any other day my pulse engines would suffice in traversing such a distance. You never know what new wonders might be tucked away, but by the sheer magnitude of this scrap heap rotating around me, the Enterprise may be in need of immediate assistance.
What the crap, Kirk?
I set my course and engage my warp drive. In a matter of moments, I exit. My proximity alert sounds as a wing of some kind careens towards me.
"Shields to max," I shout, then roll right only to have the debris lightly skim the stern. "Gotta love voice commands. Engage cloak and lock onto Enterprise coms."
"Cloak engaged and locking onto Enterprise coms." Making the onboard computer's accent a deep Scottish brogue was the best decision I ever made. I smile while engaging thrusters to find a better vantage point.
The coms are silent for a beat then the familiar voice of my new Captain sounds in my cockpit.
"Chekov, I need to know what came out of that warp window," Jim orders in his own polite way, controlled concern lacing his voice.
"I am sorry sir, but the window closed with no discernable trace of a ship."
"Great. Just what we need. Invisible ships."
I start to hail the Enterprise to alert them of my presence when their flank is bombarded with phasers, erupting in lightning like sparks.
"Oh no. Today is not the day."
I double back smoothly with a half loop into a spin to right myself and shoot any foreign ships in my path.
"God, these things are sturdy."
I inflict a significant amount of damage to the closest ship on my way back to the Enterprise but not enough to completely disable them. They themselves look like piles of scrap, perfect for an ambushing any unsuspecting ship that meanders by.
"Mirror Enterprise targeting system," I command.
One of my secondary screens flicks from the continuous diagnostic readings of my ship's system to the Enterprise's view of the battle field. An analysis of the enemy ship's unique variants begins to stream in, surely from Spock's order as protocol dictates. This is one disadvantage to being the lone pilot of a ship. Though the solitude matchless, multitasking can become cumbersome. Vigorously defending your future crew whilst sifting through scrolling logs, with the intent of finding one useful piece of intel, is quite a hassle.
"Idiosyncratic element detected. State: volatile," My on-board computer informs me.  "Hmm, I forgot I built that alert. Isolate element and target any vulnerabilities."
The Enterprise and I both target the element, used the in foreign ship's power coils, and watch the inky expanse erupt in reds and oranges. A ring of explosions cascade from the Enterprise badly damaging two of the larger ships. The vast battle field is quiet for several steady beats until a swarm of guided missiles head straight for the Enterprise warp engines. Federation ships are made for explorations, not all out battles. If the missiles reach the engines, the Enterprise will be left stranded and completely at the mercy of the enemy ships.
I push my thrusters to the max and reach the Enterprise before the torpedoes do. I loop back, hovering right above the Federation vessel. Facing the incoming barrage, I fire at will. I gun down each missile, one by one, and the Enterprise is left mystified as to why the torpedoes are exploding before they reach them.
"Sulu?" Kirk asks, his mono-syllabic question loaded.
"Not us sir."
Two missiles skirt my defenses, but the Enterprise picks them off. Broadcasting the comm, I finally hail the Enterprise.
"Artemis to Enterprise. Artemis to Enterprise."
"We hear you loud and clear Artemis. Thanks for the save." Kirk replies, relief emanating from his voice.
"You're not safe yet. We have incoming!"
Kirk calls for evasive maneuvers as two more torpedoes hit the right side of the Enterprise.
"Shields at 83 percent." Sulu informs.
"Enterprise, I'm going back into the fray. Sending data packet now, so you can track me."
Because it would really suck if you shot me down after all this.
"Receiving data packet. Tracking location." Sulu announces.
"Enterprise, if you target the ships, I'll run interference on the torpedoes."
"Copy that Artemis."
The Enterprise rights itself, and I float above the bridge once again. Using my phasers, I push back the incoming projectiles until there is sufficient space between the Enterprise and the rival ships, four in total.
Diving back into the battle, I sweep left, dropping small cloaked devices as a wall of defense for the Enterprise. Hopefully I won’t have to use all my prototypes in this one skirmish. With the Enterprise focusing on the ships themselves, I press on into the raging battle.
Swiftly flicking a sequence of switches and key strokes, my back phasers are trained onto the enemy weapon’s distinctive energy variants. A steady stream of soft vibrations ripple through my chair as the rear weapons system fires without prejudice. I maneuver in and out of the impeding projectiles in a whimsical dance, touching nothing. Upon my order, I release a string of rudimentary instruments in my misshapen path. My back phasers stop and start intermittently as to not shoot the Enterprise when it veers into its sights.
Various torpedoes and rail weapons hurdling towards the Enterprise trail behind me. With a tap of a single key they halt as if suspended in an invisible dragnet. The second load of devices I planted begin to spin, glowing a pale violet. With each rapid rotation, the stagnant weaponry shakes and swirl in a mechanical tornado. When the revolutions seem to reach a fever pitch, adding more and more trapped shrapnel, the twisting conglomerate is sucked into a jagged mass. A wide-spanning quake emanates from within my magnetized EMP bombs, rendering the expended weapons inert.
A sly smile ghosts onto my lips as Sulu utters an astonished, 'wow'.
Time stands still in the continuous volley of weapons fire.  The Enterprise and I work in unison to vanquish the incoming threat. Coming out of a tailspin, I survey the wreckage surrounding me. I initiate an updated scan for remaining energy variants as I chart my way back to the Enterprise. The unhealthy pace of my rocketing heart finally begins to slow. I manage a labored swipe of my arm against my damp forehead. I haven’t experienced such a rush in far too many moons, but I wished it was under better circumstances of course.
Swerving in and out of the wreckage, my readings remain nominal and steady. It’s a testament of my skilled crew that each oscillating piece of debris cluttering my view is from the enemy ships, not the Enterprise. Jerking to attention from reading the Enterprise’s running damage log, my ship alarm blares, signaling an incoming alert. Reacting a fraction of a second too late, a torpedo careens over my bow.
“Where the bilgesnipe’s tail did that come from?” I grind out.
The portable shields I dropped in front of the Enterprise activate as the expelled torpedo collides with an invisible wall. The proceeding explosions curve around the Enterprise in a fiery swell. The Enterprise and I are left scrambling as the incoming bombardment breaks through my defenses. We have no visible target to fire upon.  The Enterprise is pushed back a great distance but remains intact. Compressed air or some type of coolant spews into the atmosphere from a possible hull breach on the lower deck.
Sulu apprises us that shields have dropped to 63 percent, his voice tight.
Running a series of more in-depth scans, the results reveal nothing that indicates any active ships in our vicinity. The onslaught has seemingly come from nowhere.
“How is that poss…oh crap,” the realization dawning on me. “I don’t think I'm the only cloaked ship.”
Trying to buy the Enterprise, as well as myself, more time, I turn sharply away from the battle, haphazardly dropping more EMPs.
“Artemis to Enterprise, there are other cloaked ships. I repeat, there are cloaked ships in our vicinity.”
Shooting at full speed towards the outskirts of the battle, I triangulate the probable max missile range according to the size and type of these particular ships.
“Artemis, what are you doing?” Kirk asks, no doubt tracking my locator along its seemingly nonsensical route.
Ending this
“We can’t fight what we can’t see and my EMPs can only do so much. I'm sending 2 sets of coordinates. Once you move aft to the first set, on my mark, put auxiliary systems on standby. You’ll find cover out of the blast radius.”
Kirk commands Sulu to reverse thrusters without question. A swell of pride blooms in my chest, his confidence in me unwavering.
Reaching the edge of the target zone, I face the battle once more. Reverberations of my charging cannon thrum as it nears full power.
“When the blast dissipates,” I continue, “you should have enough time to fire her back up and skip bail.  I'll meet you at the second set of coordinates.”
Almost instinctively, Sulu plots a course to the coordinates, likely in response to Kirk’s commanding nod.
"Artemis, is this course of action wise?” The measured voice of Spock asks. “Firing an energy weapon of that magnitude while your cloak is active, will no doubt render it unstable. In all probability, there is an 87% chance of complete failure. You will be vulnerable to attack."
An audible whirl sings in my cockpit as streams of energy cascade along the edge of my wings, forming small balls on the tips. With each passing second, the swirling spheres grow and before long they shoot forward, unifying into an even larger expanding concentration of blue brilliance. In all my test fires, the sight of my weapon is truly something to behold. The base was always left at a standstill until its blinding radiance had diminished. However, the neighboring combatants haven’t a clue as to what is brewing underneath my cloak.
"Don’t worry Spock. I have every intention of giving you a run for all your Energy Credits.”
“I am not concerned with my energy credits but your...”
Before Spock can finish voicing his unease, I waste no time informing the Enterprise my energy weapon has reached full power.
“And mark!”
In the distance, the Enterprise maneuvers around two missiles before its faint glow is temporarily extinguished.
Releasing the energy burst, a bright pulse emanates from my ship, breaking through the confines of the cloak. A silent wave rolls lazily into the dark blanket of space. Azure, edged in a startling chrome, the Plasma shockwave advances forward, igniting each ship it touches. The corners of my vision begin to spark and fizzle, finally revealing the fleet of vessels that were completely surrounding us.
The muted radiance of the Enterprise returns as her systems come back online. The space encircling the craft begins to warp, defining the warp cores very namesake. The Enterprise catapults forward, into safe harbor. I allow myself a moment to rest my head and expel a sigh of relief. The Enterprise would have been decimated in short order without my canon’s successful reprieve.  First battle down, likely many more to come.
I start another fly-by and scan for life and power sources. The varying ships are still mostly intact. The blast only managed to disable their cloaks and short circuit their systems. My own cloak is barely holding at 6 %. Using my tractor beam, I manage to get a sizable piece of the only ship we managed to completely destroy. Hopefully it’ll help me determine where they originated from.
My radar beeps as the surrounding energy readings begin to climb. Red indicator beacon after beacon blinks and solidifies on my screen. The legion of ships will be back on line shortly.
Resilient little buggers
My cloak slips down to 4% and I hastily set my coordinates to the rally point. Engaging my FTL system, I escape toward safety, before a battle begins anew. Exiting warp, I pick up the Enterprise’s comms.  Chekov’s distinctive accent notifies the Captain that a warp window has been detected.
The Enterprise hails me but I’m entranced by the amalgam of colors enveloping me. It’s as if I've nestled myself in a cloud that has been dipped in the ink of a sunset. Moseying forward, the Enterprise is exactly where it should be, tucked away in the heart of a nebula. The visceral urge to reach out and touch the intangible is still the most fantastical yet unnerving feeling I’ve ever experienced in the black. The radioactive nature of the gases concealing us leaves me wondering if I’m witnessing the death of a star or its birth.
Jim calls to me again. “Enterprise to Artemis. Artemis, do you read?”
Snapping to attention, I guide my ship to the Enterprise and loiter in front of the Bridge. As if my cloak senses the danger has passed, it dissipates like fine silk rippling to the ground.
Leaning lazily over my console, the Bridge crew is clearly in view.  “You rang?”
A cocky grin alights my face and Jim can only shake his head and smile. He instructs me, knowing full well the reason for my delay in answering his hail. “Once you finish star gazing, you’re welcome to board.”
“Copy that,” I chuckle and make my way to the shuttle area.
Settling in the shuttle bay, I'm acutely aware of the grandeur of the Enterprise. I’ve been assigned to multiple ships, but never one of this magnitude. Artemis is a respectable size, far better than the average federation shuttle. But against the backdrop of the massive shuttle area, I feel all the more minuscule.
Artemis is a 4th generation Stealth Fighter, equipped with warp and cloaking capabilities. Both were installed under my care, among other rare accoutrements. Her dark hue blends into the pitch of space, even without her cloak. In those rare moments I desire to be seen, illuminators are strategically placed along the wings and cockpit. On all accounts, she handles with a viperous grace. Beginning the power down sequence, a low hiss sounds as my wings retract inward. The outer wings smoothly lift vertically at their hinges, fully compact.
Leaving the cockpit, I disconnect the emptied power cell belonging to the cloak. Adding four controlled isotope pellets, the canister begins to warm before the top spirals shut. With a gentle shake, the inert embers reignite, blossoming in blues and yellows. The tiny explosions build and expand into a thick congealed mass. Clear observation panels on the sides display the chemical reaction shifting from a vibrant green to a blinding white. Replacing it snugly back in the panel, the power cell will need about an hour to reach full power. I’m not expecting to use Artemis for more than the occasional joy ride and practical simulations but it never hurts to be prepared.
Stepping off my ship, bag slung over my shoulder, I take in the hustle and bustle of the scampering crew. Breathing in the familiar scent of recycled air, an innate sense of ownership washes over me. This is not a temporary post. This ship, these people, now belong to me.
Jim leans casually against a stack of crates. Anyone else would have surely fallen. “That’s definitely not regulation.”
“My ship or me?” I ask, meeting him where he stands.  Jim takes a thoughtful pause to fully take in the sight of me and my ship. We stand in stark contrast to the other docked ships and scurrying crewman.  My lack of federation issued jumpsuit and unruly curls are a testament to my lax attitude while traversing the galaxy to meet the Enterprise.
He replies with a cheeky grin.  “Both.”
A knowing smile sweeps across my face as I step into his arms. Jim radiates a warmth that is synonymous with our long friendship. There could have been a palpable sting of jealousy as I watched Jim being handed his own command ahead of me. But I have never desired the captain’s chair. It's a privilege to be back under the command of someone I respect so greatly, and a treasured friend no less.
Squeezing me a little tighter, Jim chuckles into my ear. “And I thought I knew how to make an entrance.”
I laugh at the thought of Jim’s many memorable arrivals and daring escapes. Immersing myself in every detail of the Enterprise’s mission’ reports has been one of my secret obsessions for many years.
“Hey, it’s not my fault you somehow found trouble in an uninhabited area.”
He concedes the point with a shrug but Jim’s cheerful demeanor has slipped away. His posture has grown taut, his grip tight, as he holds me at arm's length.  He studies me with an intense gaze under a deeply furrowed brow. When he speaks, his voice is quieted in concern.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m fine Jim-bo," I say, patting his hand in reassurance, “not a scratch on me.”
Jim would have known if I had been hit during our scuffle with the Scrap-yardigans. I would have voiced it, as would Sulu. But he doesn’t look convinced. Even with my assured answer, his scrutiny continues. I think he knows I felt the concussive aftershocks of the explosions, even though I wasn’t expressly hit.
“Well, we’ll be taking a trip to Medbay just to make sure.”
I’ve been on board all of 10 minutes and I’ve already resigned myself to using my patented pout. That definitely has to be a record. “Come on Jim, I just got here and isn’t there a hull breach I can help with?” Hopefully it will still have the desired effect. Jim was never immune to its power but that was before he was my Captain.
Strolling up to Jim and I, Spock interjects before Jim can answer. “There is indeed a hull breach on decks 16 and 17.” He says.
Taking a deep breath, my eyes plead with Jim to let me help. The faster we’re done with repairs, the quicker we can leave this sector. Those nearly impenetrable ships left a bad taste in my mouth.
“As you have only just boarded Commander, your mandatory physical has yet to be completed. Until such time, it is against regulation to assist in any repairs unless under direct threat, in which we are not.”
Jim smirks in agreement. With that, I deflate in defeat but still greet my fellow Commander with a genuine smile. "Spock, you always were a stickler for protocol but it is good to see you.”
Bowing at the waist, Spock welcomes me in return. “You as well, Commander.” Shifting attention back to the Captain, Spock hands Jim the PADD resting at his side, and readies himself for his report. Gathering my bag, we make our way toward the Turbo lift.
“So, how’s our girl? Injuries?” Jim asks his Second in Command.
“We are currently reporting 11 injuries, all minor in nature.”
“And the hull breach repairs are underway?”
“Yes Captain. They should be completed within the hour.”
“Thank you, Mr. Spock. Eloquent and informative as always.” Jim says offhandedly, all the while sending me a pointed look.  Translation, the crew has everything under control without your helping hands. “Do we have any idea who they are? Where they came from?”
“Not as of yet. The database inquiries thus far have been inconclusive. Without a piece of the enemy ship I believe we are at a loss.”
“I may be able to help with that.” I say, stepping into the lift in front of Spock and Jim. “I was able to retract a sizable piece of ship debris.”
“That will be most useful. When will-”
Spock stops short when a familiar Scottish lilt rings out into the bay. ‘Until next time lassie’, reaches into the lift before the doors close. Artemis has fully powered down and is awaiting her next mission.
Both turning to me, Jim and Spock wear the same incredulous expression, complete with matching arched brows.
Jim is the first to speak, low and deliberate. “Was that Scotty?”
Staring holes into the floor, I nod yes.
“Does Scotty know you use his voice for your on-board computer?” Jim’s voice is alight with mischief. A looming dread slowly creeps into my stomach.
This lift is taking much too long. It’ll be the first thing I inspect tomorrow.
“No, and there’s no reason to tell him.” In all honesty, I forgot to switch it back to the standard voice setting. I’ve always found Scotty’s excitable voice infectious and soothing. But in the wrong hands that knowledge will only be used to torment me, i.e. my astute captain.
Jim crosses his arms and levels a knowing smirk. “That was before you tried to use your pout against me.”
Well, that was a massive miscalculation on my part.

Hello..
Hello everyone. I know I don't post a lot here and I'm pretty sure I haven't talked a lot about myself or where I live.
I live in Ohio and if you've been watching any kind of news or been following the severe weather that's been hitting, you'll know that Ohio was hit in the middle of the night on Monday- Memorial Day.
At 9 pm, the news center that covers where I live- WHIO / Channel 7 News- broke in and warned us of a severe storm. We had been under a Tornado Watch for a bit and it was set to expire at 2 am. At 10:40 pm, we were upgraded to a Tornado Warning. At first it was set to expire at 11:15 pm. At 11:14 pm, it was extended to 11:45 pm. Shortly after that text was sent out, Montgomery County (which is where I live) was upgraded to the highest level possible- a Tornado Emergency. During this, my cities sirens went off and our Tornado Warning was extended until 12 am and then again until 12:15 am.
In total, 5 Tornados hit us last night; (the following info was taken from my WHIO app)
▪ At 10:41 p.m. -- An EF-3 was confirmed from west of Brookville, through Trotwood to Dayton and to Riverside. It covered 19 miles and was on the ground about 30 minutes. Areas on the south side of Brookville sustained heavy damage. A large number of homes and apartment complexes farther east in Trotwood were affected. The tornado continued southeast through Dayton and Northridge, crossing I-75 and into Old North Dayton where homes and businesses were heavily damaged. As the tornado entered Riverside, damage lessened before the twister lifted just west of the Greene County line.
▪ At 11:12 p.m. -- A tornado with damage as high as an EF-3 hit eastern Montgomery and western/central Greene counties. It covered 10 miles on the ground in about 20 minutes, extending from the Page Manor subdivision in Riverside to along U.S. 68 north of Xenia in Xenia Twp. Several homes along Rushton Drive had entire roofs lifted. Homes along Gardenview and Wendover drives experienced shattered windows, collapsed garage doors and entire roof structures removed. The tornado moved from Kemp Road east-southeast into Beavercreek Twp. The tornado damage ended to the east of U.S. 68 in Xenia Twp., where roof and tree damage occurred north of Clifton Road.
▪ At 11:19 p.m.- An EF-0 was confirmednear Phillipsburg in Miami/Montgomery counties. It covered 3 miles and was on the ground roughly five minutes. The tornado hit a property north of Montgomery County Line Road, just east of state Route 721. Farm equipment, a roof and tree damage to a nearby home was confirmed. Half the roof was ripped off an outbuilding west of Hartman Road. On Diamond Mill road, a grain bin was thrown into a field to the east.
▪ At 11:34 p.m. --An EF-2 tornado hitnortheast Montgomery County. It covered 7.6 miles in about 11 minutes and touched down initially just south of I-70 near Little York and Dog Leg roads, then headed southeast as it picked up wind speeds west of I-75, most notably on Cricket Lane and on Coppersmith Avenue. The tornado continued east while crossing I-75 then began to weaken and lifted in the vicinity of Needmore Road.
▪ The fifth, and probably the first in reality, hit the town of Celina. It was determined to be an EF-3 Tornado and more information on its exact path is being collected.
The following pictures are screenshots that I took to show friends in a discord of just some of the damage that was caused by these Tornados. The final picture is of the Tornado that hit near my sisters.

The two sisters rush towards each other and give each other a tight embrace.
Vishakha: I’m so glad you’re here!
Elena: You saved me before, li’l Sis. It’s time for me to return the favor.
The two then pull away and turn to the the Sea Guardian, trying to get up.
Elena: How do we keep that occupied while making it easier for the others to save everyone and call for help?
Vishakha: We have to lead it away from the pier.
The two girls start to look around the pier. Elena then spots something.
Elena: There!
She points towards an old but still functional pirate ship.
Vishakha: Is that...?!
Elena: The Dorado.
Vishakha: THE Dorado?! The famous ship that Mister Jake and the others used to defeat the previous Sea Guardian?!
Elena: The very same.
They quickly hurry towards the ship and eventually sails it towards the open sea. The Sea Guardian takes the bait and begins chasing after the Dorado.
Elena: We got its attention... now what?
Before Vishakha could reply, a beam of light bursts from the sea. Everyone in the entire port spots the light. Vishakha and Katherine grin as they both know what that very light signifies. From beneath the sea, a slender figure starts to rise. Its metallic body shimmers from the light while is red eyes start to gleam. Meanwhile, a lone person stands atop this figure. It’s Blight and his Steelix. Blight clutches his key pendant and taps his Mega Stone. He then chants.
Blight: Wreak havoc, Tyrant of the Desert... Steelix, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Light within Steelix’s body start to glow brighter, covering his entire body, as he begins to undergo Mega Evolution.
Tumblr media
After the process, Steelix lets out a terrifying roar, enough to push Gyarados slightly back, while Vishakha and Elena raise their arms to brace themselves. They then turn to each other.
Elena: It’s time for us to let loose as well.
Vishakha: Yeah!
Vishakha clutches her star pendant while Elena clutches her left fist, wearing her glove. They both tap their Mega Stones and begin to chant.
Vishakha: No more nice girl! Time to unleash the Rebel! With a blossom glow and a hard core….Mawile, MEGA EVOLVE!
Elena: In my time of need, aid me Goddess of Lightning and bring down the thunder… Ampharos, MEGA EVOLVE!!
Mawile and Ampharos begin to glow as well, beginning to undergo Mega Evolution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the process, Mawile jumps high and lands next to Blight on top of Steelix head. He grins towards the Deceiver Pokémon and leaps off Steelix. He then activates his thruster boots and flies his way to the Dorado.
Blight: You guys got this!
Steelix and Mawile nod at him as he regroups with Vishakha, Elena and Ampharos.
Blight: Alright... LET’S DO THIS!!
Vishakha: YEAH!!
Elena: YEAH!!
Tumblr media
The three turn their attention to the Sea Guardian as it glares towards Steelix and Mawile.
Elena: Ampharos, use Double Team then Zap Cannon!
Ampharos duplicates herself and, along with her clones, begins charging a galvanic sphere in her mouth before firing towards Gyarados. The Atrocious Pokémon spots the incoming attacks and initiates evasive maneuvers. Meanwhile, with the Sea Guardian distracted, Blight and Vishakha take action.
Blight: Steelix, use Thunder Fang on your tail!
Steelix’s fangs charge up with electricity as he bites his tail and coats it. The crystalline tail shines yellow.
Vishakha: Now, Mawile! Jump onto Steelix’s tail and bite it!
Mawile does what she is told. After biting Steelix’s tail with her two fanged heads, electricity begins to surge within her.
Blight: Now, throw her, Steelix!
Steelix spins his tail as Mawile holds on to him. He then swings it and launches Mawile towards Gyarados.
Vishakha: Alright! Use Metal Burst!
Mawile bursts out a bright yellow light and uses 80% of the electricity within her to empower herself. She then transfers the power into her fist and places them in front of her as she makes her way towards Gyarados.
Blight: True Sync Combo Move...
Vishakha: Number 3...
Both: STORM BREAKER RICOCHET!!
Mawile, covered entirely with electricity empowered by Metal Burst, turns into a form of a spear tip. Before it could react, Gyarados is pierced by a more powerful variation of Thunder Spear. As it flinches, Mawile uses Fairy Wind to stop in mid-air then uses Thunder Punch to recharge the electricity within her. She then uses Fairy once again to launch herself towards Gyarados and Metal Burst to empower her fists again. As she pierces the Sea Guardian once again, she keeps repeating the process.
Recommended Music: Fight or Flight (ILITW)
Meanwhile back at the Ferris Wheel, with only a few citizens left to save, Espeon keeps her hold while she brings them to Absol’s Icy Wind cushion. Mika worries about Espeon.
Mika: I’m so sorry, Espeon... but just hang on a little longer...
Espeon: Purr...
Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Meg run around the Ferris Wheel with their Pokémon, creating ice pillars beneath the turned over Ferris Wheel to provide Espeon support.
Meg: Keep using Ice Beam, Audino!
Kaitlyn: Ice Punch, Riolu!
After a few seconds, Espeon and Absol manage to save all of the passengers of the Ferris Wheel. However, as soon as the last passenger escapes the vicinity, a lightning strikes the center of the Ferris Wheel, strongly pushing it downwards. The ice pillars break and Espeon lets go of her grip over the ride. The Ferris Wheel begins to fall towards Mika and her Pokémon. Kaitlyn and Meg attempt to reach her.
Kaitlyn: MIKA!!!!
Meg: NO!!!!
But before the Ferris Wheel could crash on the three, Riolu quickly rushes towards them and begins to glow. Kaitlyn’s eyes brighten from the sight.
Kaitlyn: Riolu, you’re... you’re evolving!
Riolu starts to undergo evolution and quickly evolves to Lucario.
Tumblr media
Lucario then clenches his fist as cold air surrounds it. He then uses Ice Punch on the ground and gigantic shards of ice start to rise from it. The shards hold the Ferris Wheel in place. Mika and Kaitlyn marvel at the shard formation, noticing that the scale is similar to what Reginald’s Metagross made in the Pokélympics. Mika and her Pokémon then look at Lucario.
Mika: Thank you, Lucario.
Espeon: Meww!
Absol: Sol!
Lucario nods at them and looks at the Ferris Wheel. He then turns to Audino.
Lucario: Rar!
Audino grins and nods at Lucario and rushes beside him. The rest look at them in confusion.
Kaitlyn: Lucario? What are you doing?
Meg: What’s up, Audino?
Lucario and Audino begin to use Psychic at the Ferris Wheel, lifting it up. Lucario then stares at Kaitlyn and nods towards the end of the pier. Kaitlyn looks at the ensuing battle and understands quickly.
Kaitlyn: You’re going to throw THAT to the Sea Guardian?!
Lucario grins and, along with Audino, quickly throws the Ferris Wheel towards the Sea Guardian.
Meanwhile at the pier’s entrance, Rachel, Taari and Reginald struggle on the empowered tornadoes and lightning strikes.
Taari: We can’t even do anything right now!
Rachel: What do we do?!
Reginald: I have an idea. Go, Metagross! Use a full-powered Psychic!
Reginald throws another pokéball and Metagross comes out of his pokéball. He then immediately releases a burst of telekinetic energy. The strong tornadoes freeze in place but the lightning strikes are still present. Reginald turns to Rachel and Taari.
Reginald: Quick! While Metagross is occupying the tornadoes, get rid of them and hit the lightning strikes before they hit the ground!
The two nod at the boy as they call out their second partners.
Taari: Let’s go, Gallade!
Rachel: Come out, Blastoise!
Tumblr media
The three then give their commands.
Rachel: Froslass, use Ice Shards at the lightning strikes! Blastoise, you do the same with Hydro Pump!
Taari: Grotle, use Seed Bomb on the lightning strikes! Gallade, slash those tornadoes in half with Psycho Cut!
Reginald: Monferno, use Fire Blast on the incoming lightning!
The five Pokémon take action. Gallade unleashes his elbow blades and sends multiple pink crescent blades at the frozen tornadoes. After taking enough hits, the tornadoes dissipate. Meanwhile, Froslass sends large shards of ice towards the incoming lightning strikes. The lightning strikes hit the shards, being prevented from hitting the ground. Blastoise fires a jet of water from his cannons and produces a similar result. Grotle throws explosive seeds towards the sky, while Monferno fires a “大” shaped flame. Both resulting in success. After the settling the storm, the three trainers high five. They then turn towards the ongoing fight at the end of the pier.
Rachel: Now, we have to help them...
Recommended Music: Adventurer’s Theme (ES)
Meanwhile back at the end of the pier, Mawile and Ampharos keep striking Gyarados with their respective attacks. On the other hand, Steelix charges a Hyper Beam and fires it towards the Atrocious Pokémon. Gyarados flinches once again and Blight, Vishakha and Elena cheer.
Blight: Direct hit!
Vishakha: Wooh!
Elena: Alright!
The Sea Guardian has had enough and lets out a menacing roar. Mawile loses composure and falls in the sea. Meanwhile, Ampharos covers her ears while her clones disappear due to the roar. Gyarados then attempts to summon a hurricane. Blight grits his teeth.
Blight: Damn it! Everyone brace!
But before they could do anything, the Ferris Wheel collides with Gyarados’s head.  The Atrocious Pokémon staggers and loses control of the hurricane as the Ferris Wheel falls into the sea. The three trainers look at the trajectory and sees Meg, Kaitlyn and Mika waving at them.
Vishakha: They did it!
Elena: As expected.
Blight: They just might pull of the League and contests...
Gyarados then shakes its head and attempts to regain control of the hurricane. However, psychic energy begins to take control of the hurricane. Blight, Vishakha and Elena turn towards the entrance of the pier and see Reginald’s Metagross using Psychic on the hurricane. The hurricane is then sent towards Gyarados’s abdomen. It then lifts the Sea Guardian up into the air. Blight then looks up at Gyarados.
Blight: Alright, let’s finish this! Steelix, go after it and use Thunder Tail!
Vishakha: You too, Mawile! Use Focus Punch!
Steelix readies himself and leaps up towards the Sea Guardian. Mawile, on the other hand, leaps from the sea at high speeds and reaches Gyarados’s head. Steelix bites his tail with Thunder Fang and proceeds to use Iron Tail with electricity coated in his tail. Meanwhile, Mawile clenches her fist as it starts to glow blue. Blight and Vishakha begins to think to themselves.
Blight’s Mind: Even if...
Vishakha’s Mind: We’re against a Guardian...
Mawile uses Fairy Wind to boost herself towards Gyarados’s face while Steelix manages to reach Gyarados and begins to swing his tail.
Blight’s Mind: ...and with only Steelix’s tail...
Vishakha’s Mind: ...and with only Mawile’s fist...
Steelix swings his electricity-coated tail on the side of Gyarados’s abdomen and Mawile punches Gyarados square in the face.
Both: THAT’S ENOUGH FOR ME!!
Aryn watches from afar and smiles at the two’s teamwork.
Aryn: As expected from such great friends...
After being struck with such strong attacks, Gyarados falls unconscious but doesn’t revert to its regular form. Elena, however, takes the opportunity.
Elena: Now’s our chance!
Unfortunately, the Sea Guardian regains consciousness and immediately uses Ice Fang on Steelix. But the Iron Snake Pokémon manages to quickly tilts his head to the side, avoiding the attack.
Blight: One more time, Steelix!
Elena: Use a full-powered Signal Beam, Ampharos!
Ampharos fires a massive prismatic beam towards Gyarados. But before it could reach it, Steelix swings his tail once again and strikes the side of the abdomen one more time. Gyarados vision starts to blur as it begins reverting back to its regular form, but not before being struck by Ampharos’s Signal Beam. Gyarados then falls completely unconscious and falls into the sea.
Recommeded Music: At Dawn, We Rise (ES)
The Sea Guardian reverts back to normal as Steelix and Mawile land safely. The three other Mega Pokémon also reverts back to normal. Blight sails the Dorado towards the unconscious Sea Guardian. The three trainers then slowly approach it.
Vishakha: Did we win?
Elena: I think so...
Suddenly, a voice calls out to them.
Voice: Hey!!
They turn to see Taylor, Jake and Quinn at the end of the pier.
Taylor: You guys get back to shore!
Jake: We’ll take it from here.
Blight nods and returns Steelix to his pokéball. Vishakha and Elena do the same. The three then sail the Dorado back to the pier. Quinn then begins to channel her powers and floats towards the unconscious Guardian. She places her hand on its forehead.
Quinn: I purge you from your corruption, Guardian. You are now free from darkness.
Quinn manages to free Gyarados from corruption. After a few seconds, the Sea Guardian wakes and thanks Quinn. It then roars to clear the storm.
Recommended Music: Surf and Sand (ES)
Meanwhile at the port, the group reunites. Aryn, Izzy, Vishakha, Rachel, Meg and Elena pull each other into a loving family hug.
Aryn: You were all so amazing out there!
Izzy: We are so proud of you.
Vishakha: Thank you so much, Mommies!
Rachel: I love you!
Meg: Aryndelle for life!
Elena: Aryndelle FOREVER!!
Meanwhile, Taari, Kaitlyn, Mika and Reginald high five each other.
Taari: You guys were so overwhelming!
Kaitlyn: Thanks, Taari. But you guys were too, you know.
Mika: I’m still so happy about Kaitlyn’s Lucario evolving.
Reginald: Agreed. Congrats, Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn: Thanks, guys!
And lastly, Blight and Katherine share a soft and tender kiss.
Katherine: You were... amazing out there, dear.
Blight: Hehe... thank you.
The two smile at each other while the rest of the group backs away.
Vishakha: Let’s... uhh... give those two some space. Haha.
As the clouds part, the sunset brightens the entire sky. Everyone turns to admire the sunset. Taari’s eyes light up with determination.
Taari: ...Autumn is here!
Meanwhile from atop the Orderve City Lighthouse, a familiar man with a goatie looks through a pair of binoculars.
Man: So... it has begun...
Autumn has come and a new adventure starts for our heroes! What will happen next on their way to Quarr’tel Town? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON THE NEXT CHAPTER OF POKÉMON AUTUMN VERSION!!

ZERO: Hmph.  Looks like they’re on the move.
He watches ship after ship pass by until one spots him and starts to fly closer.
ZERO: Oh no ya don’t!
Zero fearlessly dash-jumps on top of the airship and hitches a ride.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Zero!!  Are you crazy!!?
ZERO: (annoyed) Shut up, Alia.  I don’t have time for you…
He immediately cuts off the feed from his ear-piece.  Then, he notices Spiral Pegasus fly over to him with a discerning look on his face.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: I’ve wanted to see you, Zero…
The Skiver points at him with a grimace as he descends down to the airship.  Zero slowly rises to his feet and gives him a focused look.

DARK NECROBAT: WHREEAAAA!!!!!!  I’ve been waiting for you!

Zero closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
ZERO: (calm, upset) You of all people should already know… The whole Repliforce War was unnecessary…

DARK NECROBAT: Grooooaaar!!!!  Not my problem.
X: It will be, if that Eurasia Colony crashes into the Earth and you didn’t help me stop it!!
Dark Necrobat sneers at X and shakes his head.
DARK NECROBAT: (piercing, foul) NREEEAAAAR!  This wretched Planet is already doomed.  I’ve been observing this World for the past 3 years…  Whether you are Maverick, Hunter or Human, we are all to blame for this Planet’s Destruction.
X: Noooo!  We can stop it and save Earth, if you’ll just help me!!!!

Zero slowly raises his saber and holds it up with two hands.
ZERO: Now… let’s do it!!
[Insert Title Card – Conflicts of Interest]
Zero runs towards Spiral Pegasus, who swiftly turns back into a loop to gain momentum. The winds accelerate Spiral Pegasus, who puts out two hands in a charging dive towards Zero.
ZERO: Whoa!!
He jumps up when Spiral Pegasus reaches him and manages to knick him in the back of the shoulder.
SPIRAL PEGASUS & ZERO: Agh.
The high winds cut Zero as he lands, while Spiral Pegasus favors his shoulder.
The two turn around to face each other.
Zero takes a slash, but Spiral Pegasus uses a swift dashing afterimage of himself to knock Zero all the way to the end of the wing.
ZERO: Aughh.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Careful, Zero...  You don’t want to lose to the Repliforce like this.

X fires a piercing charge shot at a 45 degree angle, which catches Dark Necrobat in the chest.
X: Yaaaaaah!
X flies up to him and punches him in the face.
DARK NECROBAT: (hurt) NGRAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
He pushes out two arms and summons a swarm of bats to fly after X.
X: (surprised) Aughhh.
The swarm of bats try to cover X, but they are all destroyed by his protective aura.
DARK NECROBAT: Grrr/RAH!!!
He rushes over to X with his talons and forces him down to the floor.
X: Aghhh… You..

ZERO: Hmph.  I’ll never lose to you!
Zero regains his footing and runs after Spiral Pegasus again.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: So be it, Hunter.
Spiral Pegasus dives after Zero once again, but this time Zero anticipates his movements.  He blasts him with two half-charged Z-buster shots, then at the last moment, he performs an F-Splasher.  From mid-air-dash, he raises himself just above Spiral Pegasus’ shoulder, so as not to ram into him.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (hit) Urgghh..
He wavers back for a moment and shakes his head as Zero lands and /stabs him in the back.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: /Hooot!!!
With a gritty grin, Zero eagerly slashes Spiral Pegasus three times at his back.
ZERO: /Ha! /Hyah, /Haaah!!!  How do ya like that, Skiver?
He gives him a harsh kick in the back.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (hurt, annoyed) Huuurgh! Dishonorable /FOOL!!!!
He turns around and /fires a twirling Wing Spiral at him.
ZERO: Whoooaaaaaa!

Dark Necrobat holds X down to the ground with both feet planted on his arms.
X: Aggggkk.. Damn, you!!!
DARK NECROBAT: Rheeeeheeheeheehee!!!!!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Try using your Giga Attack, X.  It might be the only way out of this.
X’s eyes widen at the idea.  Then he closes them tightly, and unleashes the power from his core.
X: Hh/Yaaaaaah!!!!
Suddenly without warning, a stream of piercing laser charge shots emit from his body.  In his immediate vicinity, the lasers rise up and rain down upon Dark Necrobat at a 90 degree angle.
DARK NECROBAT: (damaged) Aaaaaaggghhhh!!!!!  What.. the.. Heeeelll was thaaaat!!!!!?
Dark Necrobat steps back and starts to float up in retreat as he hunches over and huddles his own chest.
X rises to his feet with a valiant look on his face.
X: If you’ve really been paying attention, you’d know that I am X – a reploid with Limitless Potential!!  Now take this!!!
X’s armor shifts into orange as he unleashes a Flash Laser, gained from Izzy Glow.  The firefly inspired missile has a long trail of laser-light, which X is actually able to direct with a Neural-link from the late doctor’s smart technology.
X wills for the laser missile to fly right into Dark Necrobat at a 45 degree angle.  The laser follows through and bursts right into his stomach.
DARK NECROBAT: (hurting) Urrrr-gg-gg-gg-gg-gghhH!!!!
The laser-light trail inserts itself within Dark Necrobat’s stomach, only affecting him more, after the fact.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXT. AIR FLEET – Spiral Pegasus’ Challenge – DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ZERO: (hurt, scared) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spiral Pegasus narrows his eyes at Zero and swiftly flies over to him.
He rams against him in mid-air with an uppercut to the face.
ZERO: /Awh!!
Spiral Pegasus swiftly flies away and doubles back, as Zero falls again.  This time from the other angle, Spiral Pegasus dives downward and checks him with the shoulder, making Zero spin violently in mid- air, as he helplessly plummets downward.
At last, Spiral Pegasus takes pity upon Zero and falls at the same rate at him.  With an after-image Wind Shredder, Zero is knocked far back among the winds and shoved on top of another Aircraft.
He spins and topples along the wings, feeling damaged and dizzy upon his landing. He throws up almost immediately on the roof of the Aircraft.
ZERO: (vomiting, coughing) Euuooghhhhh!!!!! Ff-ughhhh. Huhh.. Haggghkk!
He tries to cough to clear up his throat as Spiral Pegasus folds his arms with a smirk.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (mocking) Ohhhh my, Zero…  Tisk, tisk!
He shakes his head and floats towards his position.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Come now… I thought you were better than this.
Zero grits his teeth and powers up a dark, purple hand.
ZERO: I AM!!
He plants his fist into the Aircraft and unleashes his Messenko Giga Attack.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: What the-!?
The Aircraft immediately erupts as the attack itself catches Spiral Pegasus directly in the front-section.
ZERO & SPIRAL PEGASUS: AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Zero attempts to double jump in the air and use an air-dash to reach another Aircraft, but to no avail.  This time he is falling further below.
Before long, suddenly everything goes red and he feels himself teleporting.  In an instant, he is back on top of another Aircraft; one that was not far from the explosion.
Zero looks around amazed and surprised.  He quickly turns his com-link back on.
ZERO: Alia, was that you!?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) It sure was.  Now either calm down and focus, or next time I’m Force Teleporting you straight home.  You got that!?
Zero is surprised by her demeanor, but it actually makes him smile.
ZERO: (respectful) Yes ma’am!

Dark Necrobat hisses and floats further away from X into a high corner of the room.
DARK NECROBAT: How daaaare you disrespect me in my place of dwelling!
He takes a deep breath and unleashes a deafening sonic wave of power.
DARK NECROBAT: (shrieking) RHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X: (hurt, affected) Awwwwhh…
X desperately covers his ears as three closely-knit rings of sonar waves near him.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Get out of there, X.
X: (hurt) AGH! Trying!!  Don’t talk, it Hurts!!!
X shakes his head and tries to dash away, from the sonar ring. He takes flight and manages to hover above it, but Dark Necrobat summons a second sonar ring, and then a third one.
X narrows his eyes, with his ears still covered tight.
X: (v.o, thinking) Damn, he got me good.  My only play is to fly around them and let my barrier do the work, but that won’t last! (aloud) Shoot!
X manages to get around the second one, but the third one covers him.
At once, X feels a sudden burst of pressure from within his ears, and then a heavy ringing slowly occurs.
X: (hurt) AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DARK NECROBAT: Aaahahahahah. AAAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! And now… You’re mine!!!!
He powers up to his fullest as he becomes surrounded in a dark aura of his own.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXT. AIR FLEET – Spiral Pegasus’ Challenge - DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spiral Pegasus lands on the new aircraft, where Zero has teleported.  He points at him from afar.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: That was a neat little trick you pulled, but don’t count on it happening again.
ZERO: Oh don’t worry. I learned my lesson. This time, my saber is all I need.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Hmph.  And this time, I’ll just let you fall.
ZERO: (smirking) Come on!
The two run after each other once again.  Spiral Pegasus performs a swift dash, while Zero retaliates with a brave Electric-Blade uppercut.
Spiral Pegasus gets cut across the chest and shocked from within as he rams into Zero.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (shocked) Aggggkkkk!!
Zero gets back up and tries to perform a fearless air-dash of his own to capitalize on the punishment. His F-Splasher is stopped short and overpowered by a spiral-covered fist, however.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Grrrhaa.. Not this time, Hunter!
ZERO: (grumbling) Urrgghh. Aghh.
Zero shakes his head and gets back up, while Spiral Pegasus cricks his neck.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: This time, I’m going to end you for all the pain you’ve caused my loved ones!!!
He makes a few whirlwind blasts at Zero, who does his best to dash away from them or double jump over them.
Zero charges up and takes a few Z-Buster shots as he inches closer to him.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (hurt) Hurrrr!!
ZERO: /Aaaaaaah!
After double jumping above a cutting wing spiral, he lands in front of him.
ZERO: You killed some of my best men, too! We’re even!!
Zero takes a slash at him, but Spiral Pegasus grabs his wrist.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: No.
He uses the wind shredder after image to knock Zero far back, again.  He slides so far, he almost falls off the wing, but he holds on tight and struggles to get back onto the aircraft.
ZERO: Aaaaaagh!!!!
SPIRAL PEGASUS: On behalf of the Colonel, and Iris. It’s about time you died!
Flat down on the wing, Zero raises his neck with wide eyes of fear.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. SPACE LABORATORY – Dark Necrobat’s Lair – DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DARK NECROBAT: (intense) RRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X tries to guard his face from the oncoming attack, when suddenly everything around him stops. The World seems inverted, now.
X: (v.o, thinking) What the..? What is this?  I CAN’T MOVE!!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) X? X??  What’s happening??? Why aren’t you moving????  Talk to me!!!!!
X: (v.o, thinking) I don’t know. Can’t you hear me??? (gasping) I’m frozen.
DARK NECROBAT: Hreeheeheeehee.  Do you like my Dark Hold, X?  This is my specialty.
While X is in a frozen state, Dark Necrobat slowly looms over to X and stands before him.  He gives him a good hard smack, just because he can.
X: (v.o, thinking) OW!
X’s suspended face takes the hit and seemingly does nothing as a sore swells up on his cheek.
DARK NECROBAT: Aaahahahah.  I forgot, how much I love this part.  I’m gonna treat you like any other  tourist that accidentally walks in here…
X: (v.o, thinking, worried)
What??
DARK NECROBAT: It’s just a few... One or two... Here and there...  Not enough to be in the papers, but just enough to cause people to wonder.
X stares at Dark Necrobat, helpless.
DARK NECROBAT:
You can’t move, but I can feel the fear in your eyes. They’re saying, ‘what’s he gonna do to me?’  ‘What has he done to those poor humans…’ Well, I’ll show ya..!  First, I’m gonna borrow some of your Life Energy.
X: (v.o, thinking) Hm???
Dark Necrobat immediately opens his mouth and sinks his fangs into X’s neck like a vampire.
X: (v.o, hurt, draining)
Aaaaah. N-nn..noo.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Oh no!  X.  Eeeeeex!!!
He sucks in three gulps of energen to the point where X’s Falcon Armor powers down to his normal base armor.  Alia can be heard gasping from X’s com-link.
DARK NECROBAT: Theeere. That should do it.  You’re much stronger than the others. Usually the humans just pass right out! Next, I’m gonna throw you into one of my vats!!!
He thumbs over behind him to the incubation and fermentation tanks.
X’s eyes twitch amidst his suspended animation.
DARK NECROBAT: Ahhh, there ya go.  The Dark Hold is wearing off, I see.  Good…  It’ll be amusing to see you try to fight me, now. I guess this’ll be a three-step process.
He playfully scratches his head and closes his eyes.
DARK NECROBAT: Noooow, what am I in the mood for? X soup? Or maybe X a la Mode?? Ground X, or perhaps chopped X on a stick???
Suddenly, the Dark Hold effect shatters like glass and X manages to punch him really hard in the face with a glowing fist.
DARK NECROBAT: (shocked) /Kauugh!! WHAT THE!!?  How do you still have so much power????
X: I told you, my power is LIMITLESS! Allow me to show you!!
X pulls in his hands and lets out a hadouken, which breaks a hole right through Dark Necrobat’s stomach.
X: (winded, panting) I don’t know what kind of sick antics you’ve been pulling in secret, under the radar…  But it stops here!  Right, NOW!!!!  /Force Armor!!!
X calls upon his fourth armor and shifts it into Izzly Glow’s power set once again as he charges up.
DARK NECROBAT: THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO!!!!  KILLING ME WON’T STOP SIGMAAAAA!!!!!!!!
X: I /KNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X /unleashes a fully charged F-Laser, which turns into a cannon blast of pure light.
DARK NECROBAT: (dying) AAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cannon blast destroys the rest of Dark Necrobat’s armor as he withers into a massive explosion.
Caption: 1:30 PM – Egypt Time
Feeling exhausted, X powers down into his blue armor and stands victorious over the fallen bat. He spots his weapon chip and grabs it from the rubble.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) You just received the Dark Hold, but do you mind if Zero borrows it?
X: Hm?  Yeah, sure. Is he in trouble…?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Not for long. Give me oooone sec.
In a second, the Dark Hold weapon chip is teleported directly out of his hands.
X: Huuuh?

Zero looks at Spiral Pegasus in fear as a weapon chip is suddenly teleported in his hand.
ZERO: Huh?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Put this in your Z-Buster, quick!
ZERO: (confused) -but..
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Do it. Nooww!!!!
ZERO: (disoriented) Uhhh…
Spiral Pegasus flies after Zero, who scrambles to place the chip in his Z-Buster.  All at once, he stands up and unleashes the Dark Hold on Spiral Pegasus, which seems to freeze time itself in an inverted dimension.
ZERO: What the Hell is this??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) It’s Dark Necrobat’s move.  Time is now frozen. Now finish your mission!
Zero closes his eyes in regret.
ZERO: This feels wrong.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) The whole Repliforce War was wrong, but we need that Orbiter Wing, and you both are too stubborn to let go of the past. So this is the only way!
He lets out a short sigh.
ZERO: You’re right.  Besides… he was about to kill me, anyway…
He raises his saber andsharpens his eyes for the kill. With a few swift slashes and some spinning crescent slashes of the blade, he can already see the wounds separating from Spiral Pegasus’ armor.  With a final E-Blade uppercut, Zero knows that it is over.
ZERO: That’s it.  He’s done!
Caption: 11:32 AM
The World reverts itself to real-time as Spiral Pegasus looks at Zero with a confused, almost betrayed face.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (hurt, dying) Y-you won…  How did you win??
He immediately drops to the top of the aircraft as he can feel himself falling apart.
Zero crouches down and begins to feel guilty.
ZERO: It had to be this way…  I’m sorry about everything.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (arguing, repenting) It didn’t…  But, me too…
ZERO: Just tell me one thing.  Did Repliforce send the Colony down, or was it Sigma…?
Spiral Pegasus narrows his eyes at Zero, completely disgusted.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Ughh…  It was Sigma you fool…
ZERO: (shrugging) Hey man.  You were the one’s who created the Final Weapon in the first place… So at this point, anything’s fair game.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: (admitting) We’ve had our faults, but it was Sigma who overtook our Colony... Years before trying to do this to us.
Zero gasps.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Look.  You’re all that’s left, now! My Air-Force is destined to go Maverick. I can’t let that happen.  ...I need you to take them out...
Zero’s eyes widen, surprised.  He has his blessing, now.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: D-don’t let this happen to anyone else…!
ZERO: Wow, Skiver.  I don’t know what to say…
SPIRAL PEGASUS: …Heheh…  Each of these Air-Crafts have an Orbiter Wing…  That’s what you came for right?  This Aircraft should be enough to give you what you need.
ZERO: …How did you know we needed that..??
SPIRAL PEGASUS: I overheard your navigator yelling at you, when you froze time.  You should listen to her more..  She’s a keeper!  Just like, Iris was…
Zero raises his eyes as he feels a cut at the heart.
ZERO: Hmph…  Well, I should get going.  I’ll respect your wishes.  When I’m done here, my next target is Burn Dino-Rex.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: Hahah…  Finishing us all off, I see…  In that case, take this. Quick!
He pulls out his own weapon chip and holds it up in the air, as he struggles to hold on to his swelling core reactor.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: It’s his weakness…
Zero grabs it and notices that Spiral Pegasus is about to blow.
ZERO: Thanks, man. I won’t forget this.
Zero turns and runs as Spiral Pegasus gives him a dying look.
SPIRAL PEGASUS: You’d better get in that ship now...
Zero races over to the cockpit, narrows his eyes and uses the Dark Hold once again.  With time frozen, Zero opens up the cockpit of the inverted Air-Craft.  He throws the pilot outside and closes the cockpit door.
When he resets time, the pilot falls far down from mid-air.
PILOT: Hu-WHOOOAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
SPIRAL PEGASUS:
(wide-eyed) This is it…!
He throws himself into the wind and bursts into a wild explosion.  The heavy charred winds from the blast push the Air-Craft further ahead.

When the shutter gate re-opens X turns around with a concerned look.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Don’t worry about Zero. He’s fine, now.
He sighs with relief and walks back through the gates.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) With regards to Dark Necrobat…  He was a Maverick created three years ago by Sigma…
X: That’s scary, right? It makes me wonder what other surprises Sigma had in store for us, all these years…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Well, you destroyed him… That’s all that matters.
X: No it’s not, Alia.  You don’t get it, because this is still new to you.  If it’s not Necrobat, it’s the next guy.  The Cycle keeps repeating all because of Sigma. He keeps coming back! No matter, what I do…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Since Sigma scattered a large amount of the Virus, he shouldn’t have any energy left to reproduce himself…
X: You think, so?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I hope, so…  By the way, we’ve found the Fuel Tank.
After completely switching gears in conversation, X does a double take and smiles at her bubbly tone.
X: (surprised, uplifted) Wait, what? Really!?
ALIA: (o.s, filtrered) Yeah.  Frostbite and Freeze Alopex sniffed it out.  Now the Shuttle will be able to fly to the Space Colony…
X: Wow.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Zero, also successfully completed his mission and is on his way to bringing us an Orbiter Wing.
X: (thrilled) Good!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Also, there's another Light Capsule, below you in the other room.
X: (ecstatic) What!??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Ohh yeah.  Now that you have some time, you should check it out.
X: (smiling) Heh.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hm? Oh, it’s a weapon chip. Alright.
In an instant, the weapon chip is teleported out of his hand.
ZERO: Heh… Sorry, for being rude to you before.  I got caught up in the mission and just lost myself for a minute there…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) …I didn’t expect you to have to fight against the Repliforce again.  But since most of them became Mavericks… I guess that was inevitable… Fortunately, the devices for the Shuttle were not damaged… but the Air Force was not so lucky…  It won’t be safe there anymore.
ZERO: I know. And it’s not over yet!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Oh, God…  Before you do anything reckless, just make sure that Orbiter Wing stays in tact, okay??
ZERO: (smiling) I will.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered, regretful) I’m sending Rho and Frenzy in to bring some back, just in case you don’t...
ZERO: Huh?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Do what you have to…  Over and out.
Zero looks at his com-link bewildered.
ZERO: Yeesh, that was a little harsh...  But I guess I deserved that.

He lands before a wall and tries to shoot it with his X-Buster, his charged shot, a few C-Shots, a Goo Shaver and some Tri-Thunder waves, but nothing works.
X: (gasping) Ah.. I’m so exhausted from before, I can't summon the Force Armor to charge my weapons any more! ALIA: (o.s, filtered) No, X. You're going about it all wrong.  In order to get passed this obstacle, you're going to need a weapon that you can remotely control.
X: Huh?? Suddenly she pulls up a vid-link screen for him from his gauntlet. The screen displays a blueprint layout of what lies behind the wall. ALIA: Its a maze, X!  You'll need to use the F-Laser again, for this!! X: Aw man! Alia, you're a genius!!! ALIA: I know...  I'll keep the vid-link up to guide you through it. X: Okay!

In Signas’ private office, Lifesaver displays a wire-grid schematic analysis of the evolved Sigma Virus heads that X and Zero have been encountering.
ZERO: (filtered, audio) I’ve been fighting the Sigma Virus for a long time…  It is the virus that causes all Reploids to transform into Mavericks. The most dreadful virus to ever exist.
A vid-link is attached, showing Zero woefully staring at his hands while on the Rail-lift at the Repliforce Air Base.
ZERO: (filtered, audio)
Why…?  Why am I not harmed?  Instead, I feel energy growing within my body..  What on earth is happening to me?? I have a bad feeling about this…
We pan out to see Signas with Lifesaver, viewing the footage of Zero’s private fears.
LIFESAVER PRIME: (reporting) …That’s all of the report on Zero.
Signas takes a deep breath before he speaks.
SIGNAS: (pensive) Zero has fought Sigma several times.  I believe he has the Virus antibodies.
LIFESAVER PRIME: It’s possible… He doesn’t react negatively to the Virus… His power-output is actually growing!  For the most part, the body systems of X and Zero remain mysteries.  I can’t predict what will happen.  I suggest you take measures…
Signas puts his hand to his chin and thinks for a moment.
SIGNAS: (calm, discreet) Keep this information secret.  I’ll think it over…
He pensively looks at his monitor.
LIFESAVER PRIME: His power is growing with the virus!  It’s too dangerous to keep them loose! Please… at least do something about Zero… before it’s too late!
SIGNAS: I’ll look into it…  Thank you, Lifesaver.
He continues to look at his monitor and calmly waves Lifesaver away.

Aircrafts from behind him slow down to get a better lock on him and then fire their missiles upon him.
ZERO: Heeere we go.
He takes evasive maneuvers and spins around, dodging the missiles as other Aircrafts loop around towards his position.

X: (gasping) Gaea Armor…
DR. LIGHT: Gaea Armor specializes in defense ability. It is very heavy and lacks mobility, however…  You won’t be able to use special weapons, I’m afraid.
X: (nodding) Alright.
DR. LIGHT: Still, I’m sure it will prove very useful to you once it’s complete. Analyze and upload this data for the head part of the Gaea Armor in a secure area. Once you upload all 4 programs, the Gaea Armor will be complete.
With that, he disappears.
X: Okay!
He steps inside the capsule and receives the data for his new Gaea helmet.

- pan far down below to X-
X’s eyes become wide as he tries to take a closer look. He notices a whole line of aircrafts completely stop short while another aircraft swoops in and shoots them all down.
X: What in the World??
ALIA:
(o.s, filtered) That’s Zero.  He’s eliminating the last of the Repliforce before they become Mavericks.
X immediately scowls.
X: HE CAN’T! THAT’S WHAT WE FOUGHT FOR THIS WHOLE TIME!! THE FACT THAT THEY STILL DESERVE A CHANCE!!!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Nooo, X. You don’t understand. It was Pegasus’ last wish.
X: Huh???
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) They’ve all been infected by the Sigma Virus.
X: (calmer, concerned) Ohh..
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) You have no idea what Zero went through, here.  They were about to bomb the whole place and self-destruct.  It may not look like it, but he’s actually saving them from themselves!!
X looks down in awe.
X: Oh man! I never thought about it that way before.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) That’s what I’m here for.  One way or another, Sigma’s Infection could lead to something worse.  So Spiral Pegasus insisted that Zero made sure they died as Reploids rather than Mavericks.
X lets that thought sink in as he frowns.
X: ………I understand. I’d want the same to be done to me, if I ever turned…
She gasps over the coms.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Don’t talk like that. Positive thoughts! We’re gonna win this, man. That’s why I sent you here!!
X nods.
X: Alright.  The sooner we update this Shuttle, the better.
DR. LIGHT: This is the program for the body part of the Gaea Armor. With this equipped, you will receive less damage to your systems.
X nods and walks into the capsule, feeling graver than before. Despite the fact that they are winning the day, he can’t help but feel helpless to Sigma’s affect on the World. Emotional exhaustion and numbness has already taken it’s toll on him.
The fantastic rays of light flash and seep into his gem as he receives more data towards his Gaea Armor. X steps out of the Capsule with another data program received.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Please return to the Hunter Base quickly.
X: Alright. I’m ready!
In an instant, he is teleported out of there.

ZERO: This is it, guys! We got ‘em!

With 3 aircrafts left, Zero circles and bends avoiding their fire.  Then, he maneuvers to a point where they are zooming towards him, ready for a head-on collision.
-pan inside his cockpit-
ZERO: (intense) DARK HOLD!!!!!!
He uses the last of the time-freezing weapon, having them all targeted in a line. With them locked on, he pulls the trigger and sends the missiles.
The Dark Hold breaks, completely drained of it’s use, as the missiles gained a 5 second headstart.
Now, the 3 Repliforce Aircrafts collide directly with their missiles, as Zero narrowly races through their explosion.
ZERO: (crazy, amazed) WWWWWHOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

He hears nothing on the other end of the receiver, but static.

Every Classic Mega Man Weapon Ranked, Part 2
Tumblr media
To gamers who were young in the ancient 80's, game characters were iconic in a way that modern kids, with a veritable plethora of types of games to choose from, simply cannot fathom. We stomped on Goombas with the Super Mario Bros. We fought Ganon with our sword and our wits.  We plumbed the depths of alien planets with a hard-bitten bounty hunter. We even occasionally played things that weren't made by Nintendo, like that one really fast guy from that one company. What was his name? Was it Speedy? Oh yeah! Good 'ole Speedy the Hedgehog. Even with all these iconic characters, one stood out for letting you do something no one else did: taking your enemy's weapon, and ripping them a new asshole with it. Mario didn't do that. Link didn't do that. Speedy certainly didn't do that. Capcom seems to have forgotten about the Blue Bomber lately, but on Monday they're going to announce...some Mega Man thing. We don't know what yet. Hopefully it's cool. Anyway, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Mega Man, here's part two of my list ranking every Mega weapon in the classic series. You can find part 1 here: http://ryanmeft.tumblr.com/post/168077242247/every-classic-mega-man-weapon-ranked-part-1. And part 3 here: http://ryanmeft.tumblr.com/post/168173192902/every-classic-mega-man-weapon-ranked-part-3 And the last part: http://ryanmeft.tumblr.com/post/168197639092/every-classic-mega-man-weapon-ranked-part-4
Tumblr media
53. Quick Boomerang (MM2) It's a boomerang. Just a boomerang. I used to like standing around firing them and watching them return to me, because I was 8, and stupid.
52. Flame Sword (MM8) It's exactly what it says it is. After years of shitting out seriously crappy melee weapons, this one...well, it wasn't especially useful, but it wasn't godawful, either. And wouldn't you know it? Just when Capcom seemed to be inching toward doing it right, they figured out it was kind of pointless to do at all. They could have tumbled to that back in 1990 and saved a lot of kids a lot of disappointment.
51. Yamato Spear (MM6) This one could be rapid fired, but it is otherwise just an arrowhead that you can shoot. "Yamato" is a word that means "Japan". Isn't it kind of really, really sad that this is the coolest thing a Japanese developer could think to give to a boss literally named Japan Man? 50. Concrete Shot (MM9) File this one under "cooler in theory than in practice". The ability to encase enemies in stone sounds cool (and slightly insane), but visually, all it really does is replace the enemy sprite with a rock.
Tumblr media
49. Thunder Bolt (MM7) Almost every MM game has one or two weapons that are just filler---not offensively useless, but not odd enough to stand out, either. For Mega Man 7, this one filled that apparent need.
Tumblr media
48. Bubble Lead (MM2) The original travel-along-the-floor weapon. How, exactly, does one make a bubble out of lead without breaking science? It was the only way to deal with lots of annoying ground enemies, though, so we'll forgive the bastardization of the laws of nature this once.
47. Wind Storm (MM6) Oh, sweet. We literally get to shoot a tornado and why is it tiny? Why is it just moving along the ground? Wind Storm is technically a tornado, but it's a little like the fact that a poodle is technically a dog; that still doesn't make it cool.
46. Needle Cannon (MM3) It fires big spikes. You can't get much more straight forward. Unless the enemy was weak against it, it wasn't very much fun, but it wasn't annoying, either.
Tumblr media
45. Freeze Cracker (MM7) Seemingly unable to make an ice weapon that was actually cool, Dr. Wily settled for merely functional. This one is basically useful for shattering on walls to hit shielded enemies from behind, and you don't have to do that often enough for it to be awesome.
44. Blizzard Attack (MM6) Much like the Silver Tomahawk, this one has a rather incomprehensible flight path. It works fine if your aim is right, but it's just too easy for the odd pattern to miss.
43. Napalm Bomb (MM5) Imagine if some daycare mistook this for a bouncy toy.
Tumblr media
42. Hornet Chaser (MM9) This one may make me think of a hive of bees nesting in Mega Man's chest, but it's still rather unfairly maligned. It isn't very powerful, but it's great for taking out small, annoying enemies, and sometimes it brings you presents. The only thing real hornets bring you is inexplicably dark endings to early 90's Macauley Culkin movies.
41. Flash Stopper (MM4) Capcom's to-date last experiment with halting the flow of time, and that's probably a good thing. This one allows Mega Man to still fire standard shots while time is stopped, but not to use any other weapons. That's an improvement, but the only way for this power to be as cool as it sounds is to allow you total freedom while it's active, and that's more power than any 'bot needs. Think of the children, or something.
Tumblr media
40. Danger Wrap (MM7) Every now and then, Capcom comes up with something that is totally original, and so it was with this weapon, which wrapped up enemies in a bubble that then exploded. It was cool when it worked right, but it was so picky on which enemies would actually bubblesplode that it wasn't very useful.
39. Crystal Eye (MM5) Are you actually firing a robot's eye here? How does this work? Whatever. Ahem. This is basically the concept behind the Gemini Laser, but occasionally useful. It splits into four little ping pong balls, and chances are one of them will hit something.
38. Ring Boomerang (MM4) I'm not sure how a ring would return when thrown. I mean, it isn't special. It isn't the One Ring. It isn't even a diamond ring. It's just a hoop of gold. Maybe it's magnetized. Anyway, this one actually lays the smack down pretty hard when it hits. Short range, unfortunately, hampers its usefulness.
37. Shadow Blade (MM3) This was like Metal Blade, except you couldn't throw it in any direction, it had a limited range and it ate up more weapon energy. It was a Metal Blade that didn't work as well, which, you know, as pitches go, that's unique.
Tumblr media
36. Knight Crusher (MM6) This is like the Rolling Cutter, but you can kind of aim it a little bit. Look, let's just call it what it is: Mega Man 6 really phoned it in. Most of the weapons weren't terrible, per se, but they were the textbook example of a developer who no longer cares. Sure, it's hard to blame them. The NES was basically dead by this point. It doesn't change the fact that "slightly better Rolling Cutter" is the best MM6 had to offer.
Tumblr media
35. Leaf Shield (MM2) The original shield weapon was super useful, as long as you stood still. Somehow, though a shield made of flowers disappeared the moment someone farted in the general vicinity, one made of leaves did not. However, once you moved it flew away, and likely drifted harmlessly to the ground the moment it hit anything bigger than a politician's soul. Capcom would spend the rest of the series figuring out how to make a truly useful shield.
34. Search Snake (MM3) This one was nice for for getting those hard to reach enemies, but let's pause for a moment. Mega Man is shooting snakes out of his arm. Where are the snakes coming from? Is he generating them inside his gut? Is there a hatchery in there? To anyone about to explain to me that they are robot snakes I KNOW THAT IT IS CALLED HUMOR
Tumblr media
33. Noise Crush (MM7) This one is powerful, but just...strange. Think on it. The technology to simply charge weapons directly is already in widespread use, and Wily decides it would be better if you had to do it via table tennis. Strange.
And that’s it for part 2 of the list, in which we went from the weapons that were just boring rather than actively useless to those that are fun to play around with but mostly too strange to hit your regular rotation. Next we’ll be dealing with the weapons that you actually go looking for in the pause screen, and in part 4 on Monday, the best weapons in Mega Man history!

[SP] The Final Lesson
This is it. After all of this time, all of this work, and all of this madness, I’ve finally reached the end. I was just hoping it wouldn’t be this soon. Yet here I am, lying on my deathbed, as I can feel each and every breath getting longer and weaker. My body getting heavier and heavier. I could feel death slowly arriving ready to take me to where I was going next. Not yet though, not yet. There’s another presence, something that can keep me here just a little while longer. I use the only muscles in my body that are working to look around and spot the activity going on in my vicinity. Endless amounts of tears are flowing as everyone’s eyes are on me. I glance at each person and feel what they’re carrying for me. Guilt, fear, pain, anger, confusion, denial, it’s all there and it’s all I can feel. I block them out for a moment to replay the moments of my life. It’s funny though. It feels like just yesterday I was just a little girl, out in my old backyard, running around, chasing animals, and playing with my old friends. I can see my old treehouse, where I pretended I ruled the seven seas as the scurvy pirate captain or conquered the land of the giants as a warrior princess. God, I was so ridiculous. It was fun being a kid. Your imagination ran as wild as a puppy, and there was nothing to worry about. Of course, that was… until… that day. That day they… died.
I always wanted to have a sibling, but… not in the way I got it… I miss them. I miss them so much. They were always happy. They loved my little shows I did for them. They loved it when I would surprise them with breakfast, still don’t know where I learned to make awesome pancakes. I remember her always letting me help around the house. I remember him allowing me to wear his favorite hat. It wasn’t even a special hat. It was just an old red baseball hat with an N on it, nothing more, nothing less. Yet, I loved that hat. I remember gripping it tight as I sat in that dark car, with the fear of facing my parents’ fate. What they told me still hadn’t sink in. I didn’t even know what I was feeling. Everything felt calm for the longest time. I was calm when I walked out of my bedroom. I was calm when I hopped out of the car, even after what happened to my parents. I was calm when I walked into that new home. I was calm when I met everybody. I was calm when I entered my new room. I was… crying when the door closed. I was crying for the rest of the night. My dad’s hat still in my hand. It was like a tornado. One second you have everything, the next it’s gone, and all you can do is grab as much as you can. For me, that hat was all I could grab, and it broke me, cause when I walked into that room, I realized, that hat was all that I had left of my parents, of my friends, of me.
The home I was in was bigger than I expected. There were kids older than me, and younger than me, and of course the parents, Luke and Ruby. They were nice and welcomed me with open arms, at the time I wasn’t sure if it was because of what I lost or because they actually cared. I mean my parents requested in the will that I would go here, so a part of me wanted to accept these people, but another part of me couldn’t. The first few months were rough; I remember them having to lock my window shut after they found me in my old backyard. They gave me a roommate after they found me at the cemetery where I was with my parents. They understood though, they knew how I felt, and knew what I was going through. It was hard, trying to let go. It wasn’t like a toy that you could just put down, or a balloon that you could let fly. You couldn’t let a piece of yourself go, because you didn’t know if you could get it back. As I look around me now though, I didn’t get that piece back, but I got something that was nice alternative.
I look at everyone again. All of the people that have shaped my life after that day. I gave everyone a weak smile as I tried to shed some light into the dark. Some of them shined, while others couldn’t shake it. I saw Louis, the guy in every family who constantly tries to crack a joke. It’s kind of ironic though. He was already at the home for 4 years before I showed up, yet we were the same age. The first thing he talked to me about was my name. He thought it was weird. Autumn. Yeah… My parents picked that name because, well, I was born in autumn. In all seriousness though, they said they wanted to give me a unique name, something pretty and unordinary, like Christa, or Violet, or Clementine. But they picked Autumn. The season I was born, the season that they… died in that crash, the season that we’re in now. I spotted Omar. When I first arrived, I wanted to be as far away from his as possible. He was abandoned by his mother and his father was serving a life sentence. His temper was petrifying. Anytime something related to his parents came up he would flip. Although, it died down after he broke the second TV. He had come home from school, after being harassed yet again about his father, and he just wanted to watch TV. I was sitting there at the edge of the couch watching the news. As if on cue a story about his mother’s death popped up. I watched in terror as he grabbed his textbook and hurled it at the screen. It made a crack, but it wasn’t good enough for him. He charged at it and punched it. He then grabbed it, ripped it from the wall, and slammed it on the ground. All the while screaming one word, no. After that, he dropped to his knees and looked at me. I couldn’t move, but for the first time at that home, I realized his pain. I remember getting my 9 year-old-self up from the couch. I then remember looking at his red eyes and then hugging him. He was 14 at the time, yet it seemed like I was older in that moment. He changed after that day. No more breaking, no more fights, no more pain. I smiled at him today as I’m proud to call him my big brother.
There were others in our home, but they were all much older than me, so I never really got to know them as well. However, there was one, my roommate. Jane was 16 when she came into my room. She really didn’t have choice on the matter as she was supposed to make sure I didn’t run off. At first, I wasn’t sure why they made her my roommate. She was smart, but she didn’t always follow the rules. She always wanted to have fun with her life, whether it was pulling a prank or just going out on her own. So, I didn’t understand why they put her as my roommate, until that first night. I had another nightmare. The same nightmare I always have. Being in my parents’ car the day of the crash. My heart was racing every time, and I just needed time to breathe. Jane was up the whole time. She wasn’t looking at me though. She was looking out the window up at the stars. She looked at me after I calmed down and asked if I wanted to look at them. I said yes, because a part of me was scared to go back to sleep. Before long, we were on the roof. Jane and I snuck outside and used a ladder to get up to the top. We sat there looking at constellations. I always liked the Big Dipper because I would take my hat off and hold it upside down to match it. It was fun. I asked Jane that night why she brought me up there. She didn’t look at me, but it felt like she was. She told me how she never knew her parents, how she was left at the foster home when she was just a baby. She thought, nothing could possible top that, until I showed up. The way she saw it, losing your parents is worse than never knowing them. That night, I wanted to agree with her, but yet to this day, I haven’t made a decision. She left for college 2 years later, and by that time, I saw her as my big sister. Someone that I could lean on when things got rough.
I look around at my family, trying to find anything else to keep me in this life. Then, something else came into view though. He stood at his own level, well below the others, but in my mind, he could be right there with them. He was counting the tiles on the floor, but he could sense my disapproval. His eyes slowly came into view and rivers were on his cheeks. I thought losing my folks was a tragedy until I held him for the first time. He was so little, at a time where you couldn’t remember a thing. I always debated on whether or not he was lucky to have that. The things that happened would’ve left scars that only he could see. Yet, he always asked about them. Were they good people? Which one do I look like? How did they… leave? So little, so young, so smart, so goofy, and so… lost. I smiled as I saw my 8-year-old-self run up and wrap their arms around me. I closed my eyes again as I felt the warmth of his mother, Molly. Every day she would walk by our foster home and wave to us as we walked to school. Her soft voice and glowing smile made me feel happy every time.
I knew he wasn’t going to let go, not yet. I could feel his father’s grip on me. Tyler, he was always cooking, building, playing, and sometimes coaching us, teaching us, and guiding us. Even our foster parents went to him for advice. They always seemed to be close but not there when it came to being good parents. Sometimes they would slip and trip or drop and miss, and so on and so forth. It was a good bit to watch, but who hasn’t done that? His parents weren’t perfect either. His father ironically wasn’t good with a grill, and his mother wasn’t on point when it came to actual pep-talks. In fact, when they found out that “he” was coming, they didn’t know how to respond. I guess that’s a benefit of having 9 months, because they were definitely better when he finally arrived. The smiles of joy they had when he arrived was touching. They named him Tyler Junior, TJ for short.
It surprised me when they asked me to hold him. I was 11 at the time, and I didn’t know how, but they didn’t seem to worry. Everything felt so… long. It felt like an eternity before he finally nestled into my arms. He was so light, yet, I knew the weight he would have on me, especially after… He cried a lot when he was in our home, that is… until I held him. I guess he knew more about me before I even told him anything. Yet, here he is, 6 years later, hugging me, as he knew it was getting closer. I knew it was time for me to give him his final lesson. I reached out to the desk next to me and grabbed my hat. I then slowly brought it back to me and placed it on his little head. The rivers grew stronger on his face as he pulled back. His hands shot up to the hat, but it never came off. He looked at me and immediately knew what I was saying. His hands went back down as he accepted my lesson. I smiled once again as I rest my bald head back down, getting the perfect shot of my heart. The light was as bright as the sun, and all I needed to do was close my eyes.
Not yet, just one more look. One more look at the people who I should never have met, but fate decided that I did. One more look at those who are furthest away from me, yet at the same time, closest to me. One more look at everyone that I call family. Yes… like a cameraman looking for that perfect shot, I got it. I just need one more thing… I close my eyes and whisper.
“Thank you.”

HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC Battery all-laptopbattery.com
Well, what do you do when you recline? You change the screen angle to avoid image shading, right? Not on this baby as the viewing angle is fixed. It’s absurd and those little feet don’t do enough to compensate either, so you either need to prop it up at the back or use it in tablet mode with a stand. Is this a ruse to keep the business traveller glued to e-mail rather than unwinding with some light entertainment? What about on a plane or train? Tablet mode doesn’t wash for serious work.Despite all its functionality and inventiveness, the Vaio Duo 11 appears to be a product design that became so focused on touch tech that it lost sight of the screen. It’s powerful, well connected and highly portable too, but in some basic areas, it’s just not that usable. Antique Code Show Doughnuts. Doughnuts are what I think of when someone mentions SimCity in my vicinity. Not because I used to cram them into my face, Homer Simpson-style, while I played, but rather because, back in my childhood, I was obsessed with arranging my own ‘simmed’ city in perfect concentric 'doughnuts'.
Squares in three-by-three formation of interweaved residential, commercial and industrial zones forming the very backbone of my every mock metropolis. And then, particularly when it came to residential areas, there was an added treat - the jam in the doughnut, if you will - usually in the shape of a police station or local park.To take the analogy still further, you might also say that the carefully constructed road network threaded around each block was tantamount to sprinkling hundreds and thousands on top.Doughnut obsession wasn't my only consideration, either. Where to place industrial areas, versus living spaces, also presented an ever-challenging struggle. Too much industry and my Sims might choke on chimney fumes; too few and they'd be screaming for jobs and opportunities. Oh, the challenges of being a virtual mayor in a digital town.Added flourishes came in the way you were able to micromanage your city’s financial resources too, with the tax rate at your whim - and so key to your population’s happiness. And even in the way you could lay mass transit, complete with its own moving trains.

While my ingenious doughnut formula might be a new concept for a great many SimCity players out there, so creative was Maxis' first foray into its idea of 'town building as fun' that I'm confident others have their own alternatives. Indeed, the vast majority of pleasure to be had from SimCity was derived from planning your bespoke town and laying it out exactly as you saw fit – whether the town in question be a dust bowl, or hive of industry.Such pleasures might never have been brought into the public eye at all, however, if, having hit upon the idea some years before its eventual release, designer Will Wright hadn’t joined forces with Jeff Braun and Maxis. Before then, Wright had touted his Commodore 64 game to many a publisher but with no luck. In 1985, potential backers shyed away from what was something of a unique - and potentially unsellable - open-ended concept.Of course, in the end, the lack of any real endgame made the ‘Sword of Damocles’ – the chance to call in numerous natural disasters to demolish your city – all the more compelling once you’d become bored with the status quo. Earthquakes and tornados, or even UFO and Godzilla attack, all might happen at random to derail your best-laid schemes. However, it was unleashing acts of God entirely purposely – and purely in a bid to watch your citizens tremble – that routinely led to the most amusement.
Chromebooks have traditionally been priced for the low end of the market, but Google has decided to go for the well-heeled cloud warrior with the Chromebook Pixel, a touchscreen laptop with a super-high resolution screen and a price tag to match."We've designed this for people who live in the cloud, even if they're like my parents and don’t know what the cloud is," said Sundar Pichai, VP of Chrome, at an event in San Francisco on Thursday. "We think it's a real game-changer in how people love being in the cloud."The Pixel is a skinny little thing, 16mm thick, and is built to look good in comparison to a MacBook Air or Microsoft's Surface. It has a 12.85 inch 2560 x 1700 screen that's configured for 3:2 displays rather than 16:9, which Pichai says gives around 18 per cent more viewing area for web browsing. The system runs an Intel 1.8GHz Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of solid state storage, with 1TB of Google Drive space included. It comes in two flavors: a Wi-Fi only version for $1,299 (or £1,049 for UK buyers) and a US-only Verizon LTE/Wi-Fi version for $1,449. It's available for preorder now in the US and UK, with delivery in April, and other European markets will get it eventually.

That's a steep price for a laptop, but Google thinks that the combination of touch, high-end specs, and the cloud angle will make it a goer. Pichai said that Google will make a profit on each machine and that it's a serious player in the hardware business these days. There are some nice touches in the machine. It has two microphones built into the top of the screen and a third under the keyboard, which is used to cancel out the sound of the user typing. The speakers, too, are under the keyboard to make the laptop look sleeker, and the air vents have been hidden under the hinge at the back of the system. In terms of connectivity, there are two USB 2.0 ports, a mini-display port, and a slot for SD cards. Google is claiming a battery life of five hours for the unit.Chrome OS has now been optimized for touch, Pichai said, and the Pixel was designed to show off the operating system to its best abilities. Support for viewing and editing Word and Excel documents via Quickoffice has also been added, so that the device can slot easily into the enterprise market.
With such a hefty price tag and the Chrome OS operating system, the Pixel isn't for everyone – $1,299 buys you a lot of laptop these days – but the Chocolate Factory thinks it's got a winner on its hands. El Reg has a review unit and we'll be putting it through its paces over the next few days and publishing a full review. If your love of any given city was such that seeing it turned to rubble was too much to abide, the game even offered set scenarios, each created to offer at least some kind of ‘end’ to at least a portion of the gameplay. The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was replicated, for example, as players were subsequently challenged with fixing the city back up. Other scenarios predicted distant disasters, one such plot playing out the flooding of Rio de Janeiro in 2047 due to the effects of global warming. All things considered then, such breadth was no small feat for a game which first saw the light of day in 1989. SimCity debuting on the Amiga and Macintosh, before eventually being ported to just about every other format of the time - and indeed a great many that came after. In fact, it wasn't actually the home computer version that grabbed my attention at all, but rather the excellent Super Nintendo port, with its friendly interface and Dr. Wright cartoon assistant.
