would love to know abt your thoughts on shirabashi bc i read THE shirabashi fic on ao3 and it's WILD. like. i don't know if the author is brilliant, unhinged, or both for it.

is 4am just prime time for me to get asks about my hyperfixations bc if so I should start ruining my sleep schedule more often but anyways

SHIRABASHI. first of all welcome to The Pit, hope you enjoy your stay. can confidently say after speaking with the author that it is both and it is amazing. shirabashi is like a beautiful painting that gets discovered one day by some random dude on ebay and gets put up in a museum. they're sooooo in love but that's just obvious at this point. they love each other and also they lie and hide and fall apart. but from beginning to end they love each other.

shirahama is so so lost. you can see it in the way that he starts out so unsure and for the first few fics he is so... despondent? afraid? numb, maybe, to who he is what he wants what his life will be. a constant state of silent existential crisis might be a good description of him.

but yknow who isn't silent about his crisis? niibashi juuya, repression depression extraordinaire! niibashi who wants something to just feel Right and Easy and Safe. who wants to be worshipped and loved and cherished. niibashi who is talented but hates how his talents are used by those around him. used for him, and in his eyes against him. niibashi who for most of the series has a messy relationship with his family because of his unspoken hurts and who didn't know how to love shirahama because he wasn't sure if he was ready to be hurt by him if things went wrong. who was a mess when things did go wrong. who grew and changed and spoke about his pain. who moved to make his wants a reality and loves with everything that he has. ouuuugghh they make me insane.

shirahama is there to love and be loved. who finds himself while with niibashi. who starts the series without much sense of self-worth and now is able to do things confidently. who didn't care about his skills because he didn't see his own value and now he can because being with niibashi showed him what he can become. who he can become. shirahama who runs from responsibility and bends against the wills of his parents because he knows what he needs to do for himself. shirahama who learns to love himself as he learns to worship niibashi. shirahama who reaches out towards whatever his future may become instead of wallowing in his unsatisfying present. shirahama kyouji who loves himself because he loved niibashi juuya.
