local ph music scene was Thriving in the late 2010s but iv of spades is still especially funny to me....like some guys dressed a little more interestingly and fruitily than everyone else skyrocketing to indie fame and also their legal government names were unique, zild, blaster, and badjao. it's like they were made for it. their music isn't my thing but all the guys i knew listened to ivos came out as bi and/or nonbinary by the end of high school and honestly i respect ivos for that
#ngl if my legal name was blaster i would probably also form another band called blaster and the celestial klowns. impeccable vibes#i like their tagalog songs better than the 70s english stuff though i do know thats where the appeal was for some ppl lol#do the songs in CLAPCLAPCLAP sound more like mainstream opm than their first album? yeah. but its better lyrics than their english songs im#skl.txt#stream dulo ng hangganan and ilaw sa daan

If you’re wondering if this page is dying, no it’s still not!
Lately, I’ve been involved with bands and making music. For years, I was focused on achieving something with my art, and now I am so glad to have the opportunity to achieve something with my music skills as well.
I’ve often been asked if I am abandoning arts since I’ve been so busy with bands - of course not. I’m currently in an adjustment period, I could never abandon art or music.
I will return to do art when I’ve prepared, but in the mean time, please consider supporting our band MIRA - a rising seven-man indie OPM band! We’ve just released our first single “HILOM” on different streaming platforms.
We will also be performing live at Rekta sa Kalye: Culture & Music Festival this coming November 18 at CCP Concert Grounds, Pasay City. We hope to see you there!
Band Page: https://www.facebook.com/MIRAbandph
Stream HILOM on Spotify || Youtube

📻 gimme something for Rosemary please 🖤
Would have thrown in a Linkin Park song and then I realized holy shit I can use this as an excuse to talk about a new fav band that’s Filipino ☝️
Anino Mo (Your Shadow) by Slapshock
Lumilipas
Passing
Nagtataka kung bakit ako umiiwas
Wondering why I'm avoiding
Sa bawat sabihin mo, mayroon pa bang pag-asa
As you say, is there still hope?
Na magbago ang lahat at
That everything will change and
Sa bawat oras na lumipas, ako'y maghihintay na lang
Every time that passed, I would just wait
Rosemary is someone haunted by the fact she’s chained herself down. Unwillingly. He cannot exist without another person. Maybe this an undoing fantasy, maybe it’s something else. Even though Rose would literally beat the living shit out of kindred or humans with his bare hands—it won’t change the fact she’s a coward. She’s a coward because she relies on other people for his own sanity. He hates being alone, being alone is scary. Isolation is Rose’s biggest enemy.
Rose is someone that would destroy himself just to not be alone.
The song feels desperate in a way, especially when it’s coming up to the first chorus. And more specifically, the chorus just feels desperate.
Lumalayo ako sa 'yo
I'm moving away from you
Naglalaro sa isip ko
Playing in my mind
Lumalayo ako sa 'yo
I'm moving away from you
Hinahanap ang anino mo
Looking for your shadow
Wala na bang liwanag?
Is there no more light?
In my mind, this feels like RM just wanting to be free of being chained down to people. (As much as he loves Dove and Lettow, there’s always the desire to be a person outside of others.)
Not to bring in some dog motifs in here @bluelolblue you mfing influenced me😔, but RM is the kind that would wait for someone. He’s ultimately a person that desires stability in other people because she knows that she can’t be stable. Chaos follows him everywhere he goes. The desire to be violent, to lash out is always there. RM needs someone to chain her down. So she searches for that shadow to guide her

Kind of strange to say this
It's going to be strange saying this but if I were to honestly name a number of my favourite music bands at this point, they'd consist of The Prodigy, Ace of Base, Clannad, The KLF, Altan, Capercaillie, INXS, The Rasmus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy. Most of them are British, the lone Nordic groups are the Rasmus and Ace of Base and the lone Irish groups are Altan and Clannad, well these are the bands I listen to on my Spotify since the stuff I like listening to on the radio tend to be OPM (Philippine music), Christian music, sermons, oldies and country music.
I did listen to American musicians and bands at some point or another, though I'm not particularly very pro-American now. In fact, I'm even anti-American at other times. That's not to say listening to western music is bad in and of itself, but having listened to one radio station that plays a lot of this for long, it's kind of nauseating listening to western music back to back that I turned out to other stations instead. Starting with Energy FM (again I'm Pinay), before branching out to Star FM, Love Radio and Yes FM to get more of my OPM fix. If it weren't for these two, I wouldn't be listening to a lot more Sarah Geronimo.
My father said that RJ FM (this station I used to listen to) has a very pro-American bias, so it's no surprise why it plays a lot of American music. Whereas these four play much more OPM, but I think it's kind of symptomatic of a wider pro-American bias in Philippine culture. Not all Filipinos and for another matter, Philippine radio stations are like this, but there's a tendency to equate something American with something sophisticated and worldly and how OPM is seen as kind of lesser. I don't think OPM's this bad really.
But when it's not uncommon to find Filipinos and Philippine media with a pro-American bias, that it's going to be real hard patronising your own kind and also those of other countries, because of the way American hegemony works. It's not wrong to listen to western music, I actually do this with mostly European music at that. But it's kind of tiring listening to RJ FM for so long that it's about time for me to not only play more OPM from stations that actually do, but also play music on my own accord, which is what I do almost every early evening after finishing a sermon.
It's not wrong to listen to western music, but it's kind of nauseating listening to a lot of western music for a long time and on the radio that it's about time for a change.
