Unreal Unearth reactions!
While I got stuck on "First Time" for a few hours, I am baffled at how people seem to think the album's "too bluesy." This dude has ALWAYS done at least one folk/blues song per album. Are people just mad because he's not doing more "IRISH BOG MAN" songs?
I made the naive decision to look at some reviews of Unreal Unearth, which lasted until I read a review where the person said it's a weak album where he now sounds "normal/pop" and "defanged" except for two songs.
You know what this sounds like to me as an artist? Like he's playing with styles. If I really had to lock down a "theme" to the album, I find it more pop-standard or wartime-music than anything else, and his melodies and octave-stretching are never going to be "regular music."
Behind the cut for length.
--
-De Selby Part 1 - lovely way to start the album, but it might be too quiet for some. This is the kind of song I'd put on when I need to decompress and potentially fall asleep, which is a really good compliment from my high-strung and insomniac ass.
Gonna look up the posts from fans about what the Irish verses say, but I will talk about Shared Colonization Issues in Butchered Tongue. Lovely song, but I think its placement was off as one of the quietest tracks. I would have put this and "De Selby Part 2" with Butchered Tongue and made another song the first track, so people get warmed up.
--
-De Selby Part 2 - most definitely a callback to his soul sound, but with the bass and electric bits, it starts to feel more like motown or funk. Very dark and almost grungy bass, and I like it. This is a song that people would ask to use for a movie's climax, or for a big-money episode of a TV show--a season-finale, a long-awaited fight, or even the end of the show.
--
-First Time - my immediate favorite. GET READY FOR AN ESSAY, LOL. So I think Andrew's voice is perfect for big-band/swing and it feels like a follow-up to "Someone New" on his debut album. Andrew has the high notes, the low notes, and the flexibility to pull off jazz melodies, so this is just a really nice song for him to do some big vocal/melody stretches. If anyone knows the cover-band Postmodern Jukebox where they cover songs in old-time styles, covering "First Time" would be redundant unless they specifically rework it in the least jazzy style, BUT!!! I think PMJ would do a fantastic collaboration if they just get all their musicians and singers to back up Hozier!
In true Hozier style, this song is adorable and yet the lyrics talk about severe depression, with how the singer used to hate hearing people say his name and his actual soul was miserable.
Remember once I told you about How before I heard it from your mouth My name would always hit my ears as such an awful sound And the soul, if that's what you'd call it Uneasy ally of the body, it felt nameless as a river Undiscovered underground
And the first time that you kissed me I drank dry the River Lethe The Liffey would have been softer on my stomach all the same But you spoke some quick new music That went so far to soothe this soul As it was and ever shall be, unearth without a name
When you take it literally, this gives me a lot of Filipino Spirituality Feelings. Our souls are said to wander when we 1) sleep, 2) get the shit scared out of us WHILE we sleep (such as a nightmare), 3) go hiking in the wilderness and our soul gets distracted and forgets to catch up, and 4) are possibly ill/stressed in general, because I thinnnnnnk some people believe certain illnesses are a sign of poor spiritual health. Do not take my word, though.
Normally we can just call our souls back because souls LIKE staying near their bodies--but like children, you gotta keep an eye on them. If your soul is too far away or if they stay out too long, they risk getting lost and/or kidnapped by a witch.
That's usually when your local folk-healer, relative-who-deals-with-the-spirits, or a GOOD witch has to do a reverse-exorcism/gang interrogation. I say "gang interrogation" because a lot of times, people start magically injuring you with special items, and that would actually be hurting THE WITCH wherever they are, which forces them to stop and give your soul back.
So Filipino Hozier's soul has been wandering beneath the earth, in the aquifers and caves and deep rivers, and he can't get it to come back. His family would be calling their relative-who-deals-with-the-spirits because "hey Tito/Tita, we think Kuya Hozier's soul got kidnapped! He's always miserable, and we don't know why!" until Significant Other arrives and the song gets Much, Much Happier.
"First Time" is a fucking adorable bop. It's peppy and I want to frolic on the beach! The chorus is also PRIME "misaimed wedding playlist" bait for people who don't listen to the rest of the lyrics.
Some part of me must have died The first time that you called me, "Baby" And some part of me came alive The first time that you called me, "Baby."
Like FUCK, this chorus is lovely. So pleasant and full of sunshine. But the rest of the song is bittersweet because uh, the couple has clearly broken up at the end. The singer does understand that this is life and you just gotta take the good with the bad.
I love Andrew's vocalizing from earlier albums, so I'm surprised he barely did any in a song that clearly harkens to jazz. But the melody roams a lot, so he might have thought scat-singing was too much for now. If he does this live, I am begging Future-Hozier to cut loose and improvise between the verses.
--
-Butchered Tongue - Another great song, but for the least-fun reasons. Time for severe mood-whiplash, as TV Tropes says. FILIPINO COLONIZATION FEELINGS AHOY.
This song is devastating, as a Filipino-American who enjoys languages but cannot speak her family's language (Tagalog) much better than a five-year-old.
Many people have the mistaken belief that Tagalog is "half/mostly Spanish," but IT MOST CERTAINLY IS NOT. Back in the 1500s, the only people who were guaranteed to know Spanish on the islands were the Spanish-born/descended nobles, their servants, and the monasteries, and that was like the top 10% of society if not less. The closest we got was the Chavacano creole, and it still used a lot of Austronesian grammar and reduplication.
I also used to think Tagalog was half-Spanish, but that lasted right up until I tried to watch "Like Water For Chocolate" without the English subtitles, lmao. I'm pretty sure I only understand as much Spanish as I do because I live in California, which used to be Mexico. Sure, Tagalog borrowed some basic Spanish words like basura, caballo, and kumusta, but we still have native equivalents like "taponan," "kuda," or "magandang araw/gabi." The bulk of our language is still firmly Austronesian and when I was growing up, I usually heard people call Tagalog "ugly" or "weird."
So we didn't learn much Spanish, but guess which colonizer DID impose their language on us so they could "civilize" us for the modern world? AMERICA, THAT'S WHO!
My parents didn't teach me Tagalog when I was young because they didn't want me to grow up with an accent, and this is a problem as a struggling writer. Here I am, trying to incorporate Filipino mythology and language into my work--but while I understand Tagalog and I know how to read words/names, I can't actually SPEAK IT in a conversation unless it's really basic, and I still sound like a five-year-old. I have to rely on online Tagalog translators for a lot, and I'm never really sure if the grammar is right, or if the words are actually Bisayan or Ilokano because the dictionary I used is operating with the "Filipino language" that isn't properly Tagalog, but a mishmash of drastically different languages.
Some Filipinos from the homeland mock the diaspora for not being able to speak our languages well, and they usually say we're "not really Filipino" or "not Filipino enough." I have gotten a couple of comments wondering why I bother to learn baybayin, if I barely know what I'm actually WRITING in it.
As a Filipino-American, the impression that I get from Butchered Tongue is, "The language barrier forced on you by colonizers has swept you away from your ancestors/family like a great wave. You yearn to go back home and speak your family's language, but the damage is done; there is no one left to teach you, or nobody who WANTS to teach you. Is there really a place you can call 'home' if neither your colonizers nor your people accept you as theirs?"
People often feel that their voice changes when they switch languages, and I wonder what I'd sound like if I could speak GOOD Tagalog. But instead I stumble around with my childish speaking abilities trapped behind decent reading skills and baybayin, and sometimes it feels like I got my tongue cut off.
If you asked me to speak Tagalog right now, you will hear the gears turning in my head, and I'm always worried that I'll butcher it. If I think too hard, I will panic and forget the words for basic body parts, or how to count to ten properly.
A+ song about Ireland's colonization. If this was the only good song in this album, Unreal Unearth would be worth it. You did it again, you fucking giant Irishman.

UM GOOD MORNING??? (its morning for me im serious i literally just woke up) hope your having a good day im about to give everything about meliora 🤗
SOOOOOO meliora is a 13-member under two fictional companies louvix audio and sonata media, they were the second only successful group under their company after their former boy group RIX disbanded in 2016, so, company said; "WE NEED SOMETHING NEW!", and they recruited the thirteen members over a period of 10 months through global auditions!!! so that's just great
okay off to the members;
kasemchai 'chaiya' shinawatra - 99 liner, thai, probably a man kisser in his free time, and also a professional flirt too!, used to be a child model and he decided "fuck college i'm gonna sing" so he auditioned!, his fc is the actor jeff satur
hong yohan - 00 liner, korean, 1 of 4 introverts in the whole group, the leader of the group, he scares his members without even trying, his fc is that one nct mf (it's haechan)
ko junmin - 00 liner, korean, 2 of 4 introverts in the whole group, a perfectionist for life, he also did taekwondo!, his fc is park jihoon (the actor not from treasure)
jung hajoon - 00 liner, korean, adopted (yeah he actually is), his adopted father is half filipino so he's fluent in tagalog, theater kid (derogatory), his fc is kim sunwoo from the boyz
ahn 'kyrie' kyuhyun - 01 liner, korean, a former actor and fencer (he starred in boys over flowers), the tallest member, also quite literally the perfect man (he's also the token straight of the group), his fc is yoon sanha from astro
yeo 'hwan' jihwan - 01 liner, korean, 3 of 4 introverts in the whole group, he's the one member who can go without talking the whole day, the center of the group despite his shyness, his fc is son dongju from oneus
cho haneul - 01 liner, korean, confirmed man kisser, the most affectionate member of the group, bro can play the guitar (i'm down on my knees), his fc is shin yechan from omega x
matsuda 'kiro' kyoichi - 02 liner, japanese, a former member of a j-pop boy band, his father is so famous in japan i'm not even joking, he has a huge fanbase and is the sunbaenim of everyone in the whole group, his fc is terazono keita from ciipher
kang 'z' yaejoon - 02 liner, korean, the groups comedic genius, the only reason he auditioned was actually because of a bet, he used to play hockey, his fc is jung sungchan from riize
bae 'byeol' yongrae - 02 liner, korean, has been dancing since literally forever, his birthdays on halloween!!, he's a huge fan of kai and he cried when he got to meet him for the first time, his fc is my bae song hyeongjun from cravity
sim 'chrysa' jaehwan - 03 liner, korean, he really likes kyuhyun, seriously he was a huge fan of him before they debuted together, also a comedic genius, his fc is your bae hwang intak from p1harmony
kristian 'jian' li - 04 liner, chinese-american, rich, he's one of the youngest but he's also 6'1, professional coffee hater, and cat lover, his fc is young and rich fall and handsome
aikawa 'taro' kiyoshi - 04 liner, japanese, the maknae, a teddy bear collector, can never be clean like it's impossible for him, his fc is nishimura riki from enhypen
OKAY SO UHHH OTHER THAN THAT, their fandom name is aponia because meliora is a word that means "better" and the word aponia is an "absence of pain" so they FIT TOGETHER!!!
anyway thats the group, there is a lot more bad stuff concerning the personal lives of the members because they're all traumatized in one way or another (so sorry i love my babies i swear) so um whose your bias 🤗???
the way i am the #1 aponia. The original. unless you've told someone else ab them and they've said the same thing so we have to compete (i cant fight so i hope u havent 😓😓 2yrs of martial arts in primary school has done nothing for me bye). I AM IN LOVE WITH THEM?!? Holds them in hands.. puts them in a jar.. shakes them around really hard in the jar.. opens the lid... pours them into my hands.. eats them like orbeez.. dies from food poisoning (u probably cant eat orbeez).....
OK BIASES. hajoon YOHAN and jaehwan YUPP 👍👍👨❤️💋👨 oh but junmin too........ i fucking LOVE park jihoon i rewatch whc1 every other week i swear (nothing broke me like that show did . Im in so much pain). i will collect all their pcs and line then up next to my bed and pat their little heads before i go to sleep
IM IN LOVE W THIS AND THEM!!!!!!!!! UR MIND!!!!!!!! CRAZY!!!!!!!!! ur giving me tell-u-things-ab-my-silly-ocs-too itis... Stop it .

hey guys, happy Lunar New Year! i really hope you’re all doing well and i wanna wish you guys a happy and healthy new year!
honestly, i wasn’t sure if i wanted to make a post about this, i’m not a very articulate person and i’m sure there are stronger voices out there. and usually i try to make my time on tumblr as positive as possible b/c let’s be real. the world is shitty and memes are my small source of fun most days. but this topic hits too close to home.
so in case you didn’t know, the hate-crimes against asian americans are fucking bad. i mean. this has been going on for years but the rise of hate-crimes has increased since COVID (obviously). and it's really really hard for me to sum up just how angry and frustrated i feel when i watch yet another video of our elders being attacked, brutalized and killed. just for being asian.
this may be the first time you’re hearing about this violence if you aren’t asian or you aren’t following asian american news because the mainstream media does not spotlight our stories. one of the main issues of this whole thing is that the media just... ignores us. because asians are the “model minority” and we have the “good stereotypes” so every hate-crime that’s ever happened to us is normalized and gets brushed under the rug or forgotten after a while. (like hi, united airlines? the rest of world may have forgotten, but we haven’t) &like the media only just recently started talking about this because people were making an uproar and applying pressure to them. and guess what? racism against asians is a real thing. we matter. we’re not fucking disposable. and like Amanda Nguyen recently said, “We’re dying to be heard.” Literally. in the last couple of weeks alone, countless of hate crimes have occurred against the asian american community. specifically, against our elders. from the murder of an 84 year old Thai man, to the robbery of a 64 year old Vietnamese woman, to the Filipino man who had his faced slashed on the subway. this is happening all across the US (and i’m sure other western countries too)
and right now all i’m asking is for you to share this. or make your own post. tell everyone about what’s going on. spread it like wildfire. let the world know that our stories matter too. we all need to band together to fight this. and i’m not talking just asian people. like, if you got a mum or dad. grandma, grandpa, auntie or uncle. and you don’t want to see them be assaulted when they’re minding their own business? then we’re on the same side. it’s easy as that.
idk more thoughts under the cut
okay i may just be regurgitating all the same fucked up news but there’s just something horrific about watching an old asian lady being robbed at the grocery store as she’s shopping for the lunar new year (a time which SHOULD be filled with joy and kindness and family and love) and about watching an old asian man getting assaulted for just walking down the neighborhood and then knowing that he died from those wounds. and they’re especially horrifying because when i see these elderly people getting attacked, i see my own parents. my aunties. my uncles. and a lot of these crimes are happening in my own city. like okay, i’ve been attacked for being asian. i can handle it. my parents CAN’T. they are old and weak and vulnerable. they're easy targets.
it’s scary. and it’s also confusing because these attacks are happening in pretty diverse cities. San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, NYC. and the fact that these are attacks aimed at the ELDERLY really fucking makes me sick you know? i can’t get over that. these are people who came to this country thinking it was a land of opportunity. a place where they could build a family and a life. a home. and they’re out here minding their own business and they get attacked. and FOR WHAT. what kind of shitty ass person attacks the elderly?
what infuriates me even more is that this is happening during the Lunar New Year time. a time where we’re supposed to be celebrating family and prosperity and unity and new beginnings. a time where we’re supposed to be kind to one another. and instead people are being murdered.

My Dean Blunt Rotation aka High Fidelity Left A Bad Taste in My Mouth
For the past 2 to 3 months, my listening habits were teetering to an end; mostly via burnout by spontaneously listening to local artists daily and less likely of a musical discovery drought, whereas my interests of a certain artist or genre hasn't found its, sort of, "eureka", moment per se. I've been feeling less enthusiastic over the things i listen to since my friends have gradually lost their flare when it comes to discovering/exploring untapped parts of the music realm. Thus, in return, my enthusiasm not being reciprocated. It leaves an empty feeling from someone who has been yearning social interaction, may it be media being latched on the topic - it's a feeling that's been guilt-tripping me ever since I was stranded in the other end of the metro. I feel closed off, exposed to the crippling loneliness the lockdown has punished us: a defacto solitary confinement in a national level. Our act of staying online is also an act of staying alive outside.
To be fair though, it's a valid move to not boomerang compliments/gripes over an art you haven't consumed due to someone's autonomy. Your able body being to consume the art you wish to finish with free time is a luxury in of itself. The art is then failed to serve its purpose to reach its goal: You have squiggly lines heading straight to oblivion rather than swirling in the earlobes of a wandering cyber nomad. We, eventually, need to find something that could help us exit, rather than escape, from capital. We, in return, do not shut ourselves from the outside. Instead, we then tend to avoid the stress of protocols and outdoor fascism; Not avoid the indoor liberalism that is eating us alive and online. It's a capital punishment we never knew we signed up for ever since the onslaught of the virus and the state. Art for art's sake is nonexistent now, always has been, it seizes to ever since we went inside. Feeding off of a holographic meatloaf coming from a glowing screen. We have a real-life Karen acting as a nightlight in our rooms.
The COVID lockdown made us listen to music — both for better, for worse. For one, it made us pass most days. You could say the same for any sort of media: film, mixed media art, or whatever pre-Covid activity that sprung up during our time in isolation. For music, however, there was an uptick of new listeners that made others Wheel-of-Fortune the fuck out of their music discoveries in sites like RateYourMusic, Bandcamp, or even Sophie's Floorboard. We've continued to expand and became more open change of opinions and be less of a jackass towards someone else's opinions. On second thought, our opinions have been catalogued, leaving more notes than actual footprints of our previous listens. Our new discoveries made new bands and re-emerging bands, bands who faded to obscurity, crawl back in the surface with newfound interest from younger listeners (ie Panchiko, Jai Paul, and Dean Blunt) and this glowing, previously unseen and unexpected overwhelming support from fans of departed artists (ie SOPHIE, MF DOOM)
For the other, we've hogged gratuitous amounts of media, resulting into losing our primary direction as to how we want to consume our media based on the preconceived notions of what we want in our art. There is goodness in becoming directionless when you think about it, but there comes a cost to our identity as music listeners. Instead, we end up widening our tangents, falling in endless rabbit holes, having zero chances to emerge from the surface. In fact, i refuse to call it a "rabbit hole" instead i'd rather call it a "pipeline" of sorts — transitioning casual music fans into a full on, different, unique versions of themselves that would define them when laws and protocols have eased in the outside world. Our act of staying online has either made most of us break our character or enliven our past selves. The music pipeline is now more apparent, stretching the norms of what was once alienated by a silent majority, but now accepted as an acceptable form of expression. The more music we are exposed to has made casual listeners stranged out or react in ways that our personality have betrayed us or deemed not as acceptable to them. Still, not changing anything that was prominent pre-pandemic. Liberal cop behavior is stronger, now more dangerous than it ever was once perceived by the outside world.
HIGH FIDELITY? NO, THANK YOU.
Imagine a situation inside of a record, pre-pandemic of course, where you do not feel like lifting a record out from the shelf, instead, you window shop just for the sake of windowshopping. Capital and media made us think that going to record shops is a semi-productive activity. The age of discovery has died ever since High Fidelity romanticized and normalized the incelage of horny record diggers. Does this movie age well, yeah sure it does, for old 90s nerds at least. But did it translate well over in the past 20 or more years of events and tragedies that unfolded in pre-9/11 America? No it didn't. It was an age of free expression, only liberals would dream of whenever they take a sip of Guinness beer in their favorite dive bar.
Mind you, over a couple of months ago, it was my only chance in seeing why this movie was the talk of the town back when it was released. There's music, yeah, and attractive leading leadies, yeah, it has everything a 90s kid would love to salivate and drop their gonads over while they watch this movie. I obviously did not live to see the movie on opening day but i could imagine the scent that came out of that movie theater with attendees donning windbreakers and The Who shirts with popcorn dressing stains on their plastic cups. If there was a Filipino counterpart to this movie, i'd bet corporate champions Eraserheads and Rivermaya would soundtrack their music over and have either Tado or have Boy 2 Quizon, but i sense it to age like milk more than it could age like fine wine due to the senseless jokes one can execute in a Cubao or Cartimar record store.
John Cusack is obviously the incel in question here: a damaged, vengeful ex who constantly fails to live his partner's expectations and weaponizes his personality over the situations that has nothing to do with his interests. I spent the entire time being absolutely disgusted over the spineless responses of John Cusack's leading character. The movie then treads on flashbacks with John Cusack's failed relationships and what he could do to move on from each and one of them. If i could stand a SONA for 3 hours then I can't stand John Cusack being the dull entry point to incel, making more reasons why you should hate record store clerks who don't give an iota of shits to someone's inviting rapport. High Fidelity is opium for massive music circle jerks who can't take a single breathe of fresh air or a single quota of touching grass. There's more targeting weak and inferior guys and hot women who dump dumb overconfident dudebros more than the actual "music recs" in the entire movie. The more I think about this movie, the more I realize how our personality is in line towards Dick, the record store being unmercifully dunked on by the movie's two leading characters. He's an angel in the world of cynical bastards, witnessing both demons pitchforking record store customers in the ass while they're purchasing the latest Sonic Youth album.
youtube
youtube
I believe that Jack Black, the dark horse of High Fidelity, has a pleasing personality more than an irritating demeanor due to this behavior in the record store. In fact, outside of the record store, Jack Black doesn't seem to take the business is your pleasure act pretty seriously. Unlike John Cusack's character he brought his obsession over involving a record in an important memory/point of his life. There is so much stuff that has happened outside of the record store, so much for Rolling Stone and NME being the bible of music at the time, endlessly christening and shilling artists that believe to become the second coming of the Beatles. The music references here however are treated as fluff than it is a mechanism that would drive the senseless plot forward. If anything, there are events pointed out in the event that doesn't have anything to do with the life of the characters.
If anything, this movie did a great job at capturing the feeling of music bros being dumped on the wayside by a mature set of characters and how their current conditions aren't perfumed by the studios' liking of having to Cinderella story the shit out of a bunch of normal record store owners. The reality is in the reaction of one's social capital being invaded and we're here to witness how those reactions panned out in 2021. This is a villainous depiction of music nerds being the salt of the earth, the bane of all media discussion, still reflective of the insufferable salt of cyberspace found in music forums like 4chan and RYM. High Fidelity is a pipeline of 90s musicology, a dreaded fever dream of an owner waiting for the decade to end, trends ossifying and re-emerged by the hands of nostalgia-savvy individuals. It was, at its time, every music-movie nerd's excuse equivalent of Scott Pilgrim VS. The World. There are memories worth remembering and cherishing, and this movie isn't one of them.
DEAN BLUNT, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
youtube
In the past two weeks I've been fancying myself into sitting down and listening to different projects from the ever elusive, UK-based sound artist Dean Blunt. The first time i chanced upon his music wasn't too long ago - albeit a recent one in the time of COVID - was when I randomly stumbled upon his records at a Spotify recommendations section under John Maus (yeah lol i know the implications whenever his name is mentioned) - but then i was enamored by his online presence so quickly I put everything down and dedicated an hour or two researching about this man's music.
Other than the fact that his album "The Redeemer" wasn't the best record to start off in journeying through his discography: ending up disgusted and borderline bored even and I was more likely to lambast this record's aimless, pretentious art-pop inflections. By the end of the day, it was a preference long solidified by his undying fanbase. According to his hardcore fans, the music isn't really music, evaluating it as a free form of sound art, rather than sticking to a structured and conventional cues; the genre is nullified by most analysts of the arts. The growing interest of the general public towards Dean Blunt's pranks and antics have long appealed to my tastes as a chaotic neutral individual. Pranks that are well executed to piss off UK gallery connoisseurs and entertain ironic attendees who'd shit on the art piece rather than participate in it.
More of the resources I've found about Dean Blunt online: numerous aliases and collaborations that lasted around almost 2 decades. The most notable of all them, at least for my money, are either Hype Williams, a duo consisting of Dean and frequent collaborator Inga Copeland, and Babyfather, an art performance parodizing the pirate radio culture in the UK. I have not delved enough in Blunt's body of work to evaluate everything and what i could synthesize from it. For now, I enjoyed it as a form of entertainment. Well, color me impressed because Dean Blunt isn't clowning around, he, in fact, makes blissful and transcendental music from left to right.
youtube
youtube
Dean Blunt was the only few artists that made me want to binge on their discography. His movements in his music has attracted this pesky listener who thinks that being mysterious is a plus. I mean, look at me who thinks The Paul Institute, Panchiko, and Burial are the greatest artists that have walked the face of the earth.
The most I've enjoyed from Dean Blunt's discography are his mixtapes and collaborations: preferably his Soul Fire and ZUSHI, both of which were packaged as B-sides or supplemental releases rather than major releases such as the Babyfather project or the Black Metal releases. His knack for blurring the lines between genres still fascinate me as of this writing, and it continues to amaze me how he doesn't seize to compromise his art, he's here to prove a point and it sells quite well despite the lack of direction in his music. Blunt's music has more aggressive and hazy texture than the hollow, wide, soulless structure of art-pop/hypnagogic pop released today. He creates terrains from the rubble of his country's current shortcomings. The music overlaps the actual intentions with abstract concepts, becoming deconstructed down the line. In Babyfather, noise music coincides with Blunt's amateurish rapping. In Black Metal, Blunt isolates himself along with the assisted skeletal guitar playing. Both projects throwing all tropes in a vaccum alongside Blunt, who he himself would sought to become a personification of a musical void.

(Excerpt from the Babyfather album review in TinyMixtapes)
--
Dean Blunt is an entity that wishes to become one person, but no, this isn't a figure in a specific art form; this isn't Banksy, this isn't Bob Ong, this is made by one person, clearly it is if you listen closely, and it's been entrancing me ever since his presence was felt on the horizons of the internet. Dean Blunt, what the actual fuck.

survey by carolynnnnonia
1. When was the last time you went to the mall? Last Saturday. I really didn’t want to go, but I needed to fulfill a shipment that I had to do for one of our clients. I had to pass through the mall’s grocery to get to the courier branch, and it was so creepily packed :( I was visibly dodging people left and right but I couldn’t care less at the time.
2. Are you a light sleeper? Only whenever I fall asleep at places I’m not very familiar or uncomfortable with, like in a moving car or someone else’s house; the lightest noise or movement would definitely wake me up. Otherwise, I sleep like a log. I’ve missed out on so many earthquakes that apparently took place while I was asleep.
3. Do you have shoes on right now? No, I’m always barefoot whenever I’m home.
4. What's the weather like? It’s a liiiiiiittle bit decent for now, but it’s only 9:30. It will start to get warmer from here on out so I’m expecting to start feeling sweaty and sticky again in a couple of hours.
5. Would you rather wear sweats or jeans? I don’t really collect sweatpants, so I’d go with jeans even though I don’t find them the most comfortable either.
6. When did you last go ice skating? Around 13 years ago. If I’m correct, my last time on an ice skating rink had been in 4th grade, when I was 10.
7. Do you ever shop at Hot Topic? We don’t even have that here, so no.
8. What car do you own/hope to own? A Mini Countryman.
9. Have you ever spent more than 5 hours on the phone? Many times with my ex, especially at the start of our relationship.
10. Where is your cell phone? I literally just put it down haha after picking some music to play. It’s now on my lap.
11. How loud do you play your music? Like I said on a previous survey, it depends on what I’m doing. Right now it’s on pretty loud since I’m just taking a survey, but if I’m working I just have it on as background noise.
12. Do you like playing in the snow? I’ve never done it before, but I imagine I would love snow.
13. What beach does your family typically visit? We make it different every time, and I don’t think we’ve ever visited the same beach more than once. The best ones I’ve been to are the ones in Palawan and Boracay.
14. Do you like your name or one of your siblings' names better? They did a great job with all our names actually, and I’m a fan of all of them. I like that I’m named Isabelle since I’ve always loved that name; Nina has Beatrice which is a bit old-fashioned but in a nice and endearing way; and my brother is a Joaquin which has always been one of my favorite masculine names. I can’t say I’ve ever compared our names.
15. How did you discover your Myspace song?
16. What was the last restaurant you visited? La Creperie. But the last restaurant I ordered from in general was McDonald’s, last Friday.
17. Have you ever played Rock Band? Yes, I always preferred it over Guitar Hero too.
18. Do you ever make Youtube videos? I’ve never tried doing it.
19. What brand purse do you carry? I don’t use purses. My main handbag is a Nine West one I just borrowed from my mom.
20. How many times a day do you brush your teeth? Once or twice.
21. Have you ever had braces? Yup, but I’ll be needing to have them on again.
22. Do you own an iPod? I guess it’s fairer to say I don’t anymore, but mine is definitely still lying around at home.
23. Who do you like? I have the stupidest crush on BTS’ V, if that counts.
24. Where do you like to get coffee from? Just my everyday 3-in-1 coffee mix sachets would do, since I don’t know how to make coffee from scratch and figure out the ratios that would work for me. If I feel like buying coffee I’d go to Starbucks.
25. What level do you play on Guitar Hero? My finger coordination is terrible so when I play with the guitar prop I usually fail the songs even if I play at the easiest possible level haha. I’m much better with a controller.
26. Are there any words you always spell wrong? I used to struggle with ‘rhythm,’ but I’ve misspelled it too many times in the past I ended up learning it, if that makes sense lol. I don’t usually struggle with spelling anymore these days.
27. Do you ever mow your lawn? There’s a staff member in our village who’s tasked to mow everyone’s lawns. We just tip him when he does so.
28. When was the last time you were at a hotel? Around...last Christmas season, I think? We were visiting family that day and we briefly stopped by Marco Polo to pick up a cake so that we wouldn’t arrive empty-handed.
29. Who did you kiss last time you played spin the bottle? I don’t think I’ve ever played spin the bottle.
30. Is there a TV in your room? No. There used to be a TV along with the PS3, but after my brother started forming a habit coming into my room to play video games, we just ended up handing over both devices to him.
31. What is the most money you've spent in a day? I don’t know exactly, but my best bet would be anywhere between ₱3000 to ₱4000 and it most likely happened while I was drunk.
32. Anything interesting happen on your last birthday? My BTS bias released a snippet of his new solo song :( :( :( He’s been a lot quieter on social media lately so the fact that he posted something huge, and on my birthday no less, made my day all the more meaningful.
33. What winter holidays do you celebrate? None.
34. Have you ever been to NYC? No. I have several relatives who live there, both in the city and state, though.
35. Do you get carsick? Only when I read or watch a show/movie.
36. When was the last time you went swimming? July 2019.
37. Has anyone of the oppisite sex seen you in your underwear? I don’t think so.
38. Who did you last talk to on the phone? The delivery man who brought my order to the house today.
39. Are your parents still together? Yups.
40. Do you like scary movies? They’re okay, but I tend to avoid the ones that go for cheap scares and go for something with more lowkey or psychological elements instead.
41. Do any of your friends have a last name that's a color? No.
42. What's your favorite ride at amusement parks? Not a big fan of rides. I would usually head to the food stalls and see what kind of crazy food is being served that I can try out haha.
43. Who do you want to win the presidential election? Someone who has the interests of the Filipino people at heart. Of course, knowing how poor voter’s literacy is here, I’m not feeling too optimistic for next year’s election.
44. How often do you watch TV? Around 45 minutes to an hour every evening since we have the TV on during dinner.
45. Do you use proper capitalization? For the most part, yeah. The only time I let the rules go is when I’m on chat.
46. Have you ever been to a fortune teller? Ew, no.
47. Are you a health nut? No.
48. Do you tan or burn? Tan.
49. What type of deoderant do you use? Some local brand.
50. Do you dress up for Halloween? Some years I would, especially if there’s a Halloween party happening.
51. Have you ever kissed in the rain? I might have, but I don’t really remember for sure.
52. If you had the chance to be famous, would you take it? If it was for a reason I could get behind, then sure.

Favorite ship:
Oh man I WONDER….. what i ship gosh it is SUCH a mystery 😆 anyway yeah of course it’s Gregstophe. But to keep things interesting, I’ve also recently been taken with ElderLily from CRK…. I’m a sucker for doomed love and nothing could be more doomed than them 🥺
Last song:
Wine Red by The Hush Sound. It just happened to come on my shuffle when I was driving home from dinner last night but The Hush Sound is one of my favorite bands!! I also got to introduce my friend in the car to them while it was on so yay :3 If y’all haven’t heard the song or the band before consider this YOUR introduction as well
Last film:
World of Tomorrow by Don Hertzfeld! It’s a short film but I think it should still count because it’s amazing and thought provoking and one of my favorite comfort films. I’ve been trying for ages to get people together for a double feature of it (plus its sequels) and Paprika with the concept of an imagined technological dystopia’s effect on the human mind. It’s on YouTube also if you want to check it out for yourself.
Currently reading:
I’ve been trying to get back into reading lately… it’s been an embarrassing amount of time since I finished a book 😅 I keep starting and dropping them but my latest is All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr! I remember hearing very good things years ago.
Currently craving:
LECHON….. Filipino food in general but lechon in particular 😭 if only the closest Filipino restaurant to me wasn’t two hours away… my ass would be eating lechon kawali CONSTANTLY I love that crunch. especially with some garlic fried rice?? mwah 💕💕

Well obviously it's lams in musicalverse, and as for historical... I must say Cutty Sark. What a speedy girl!
Last song
Handel's Wassermusik Suite in F major (the Mozart bubble has finally burst)
Last film
I finally found the time to watch Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction, and while I can't say it's a great movie, it was certainly amusing and charming and scratched the historical romance itch.
(Side note - Danish now sounds to me like someone speaking Norwegian with cottonwool in their mouth.)
Currently reading
About a dozen volumes of letters by Johannes von Müller, queer Swiss historian of the 18th century. Yes, really, for fun.
Currently craving
I'm with you on spring, @acrossthewavesoftime (this is new to me – I'm not used to seasons!).
Also marmite.
And a swiss roll (unrelated to swiss history).
Tagging @permanenthistorydamage @ouiouixmonami @nordleuchten @kaiserin-erzsebet and you!

Welcome! I'm really excited for your account, so here I am giving you information for a match-up😌 (also, not related to this, but I really loved your stoner Kenma thing)
Anyways, I'm she/her using, bisexual, and I don't think that I really have any preference for what I want in a partner. I guess patient or just able to not be overwhelmed by me and overall not a bad person? Oh, my love language is physical touch.
I'm 5'3" with curly (4A) hair, I'm African/Filipino, and I'm a bit on the heavier side(mainly carried in my tum tum and chest, honestly a bit weird for how active I am haha, like, there's some music, yeah, but its mainly fat and I'm like "???"). My eyes and hair are both brown and I tend to keep my nails short bc of my hobbies. I also have a lot of calluses on my hands and feet, especially on my fingers, i would walk on rock on my hands or just normal without batting an eye at this point I swear...
My personality is normally more on the loud side of things, I'm ENTP, an Aquarius and ADHD with Tourettes lol. But I do really care about those I love and tend to be very protective. And I mean protective like, would go to jail for someone if I needed to just to be sure they are safe. I'm not very good at communicating my feelings or what I think about unless it is a very easy sentence. When it is like that, it just comes out of my mouth, I have little to no filter.
My hobbies, hahaha, there's quite a bit.... so starting, I'm a performer at heart, have been putting on shows for people just to entertain, I love seeing and hearing their reactions! What do I perform?
Band
I have been doing music for about 10 years now, my main instrument used to be piano, but its shifted over to alto sax awhile ago. However, I have 20+ instruments in my room that I play proficiently and can play even more than that. I'm in marching, jazz(2 different ones), symphonic, and concert bands(also 2 different ones). I've been to jazz All-State before as well. Despite all of this, most of them are classes anyways, I still have time for more things lolol.
Dance!
I was a ballerina for a while, then transitioned into tap and hip hop. I did these for about 6 years total, and now I dance Folklorico! This has been for almost 5 years now, and I honestly love it. I live really close to the border too, so it isn't hard for me to find a good company here.
Circus
This one is a bit weird not that I'm looking at what else I do lolol. So I'm mainly an aerialist, specializing in silks and flying trapeze. I do however also have training as a mermaid and with hula hoops! This one is really fun to hear their reactions for, and I love to perform it so much, even if it can sometimes be scary... (honestly tho, nothing to me is scarier than soloing for band when you make your own solo)
Artistic skating
So, I don't perform this, this is just in my free time to help me get ready for roller derby because I'm not legally allowed to play yet. But this has been more recent, within the last year or two. I do really love this and choreographing my own stuff! Speaking of roller derby, I have also done sports!
I've played volleyball, soccer and done gymnastics the longest, but I've been to camps for softball before.
For volleyball, I started as a setter, but then I switched companies and have a libero position now, which makes sense because before volleyball when I did soccer I was a goalie, so I'm able to get to the ball pretty quickly and without much, if any, thinking. I did soccer around the same time as ballet, but for a few more years and volley ball is more recent, but I had stopped last year. Soccer I had started at 2, same time as ballet, but I didn't stop until 7, then did volleyball from 8/9 to 16.
HDJSCHXXJWAGQBE THIS IS SO MUCH IM SORRY
tysm!!! i’m so glad you liked the kenma thing!🥺 wowowow, thanks for all the info! I ship you with.... nishinoya yū <3
✿ he LOVES and PRAISES your body <3

Ceaseman Seizing the Hip hop Scene
The time I spent going to places and meeting people is now the time I devote to binge eating, watching TV series, attending free webinars, and listening to music. I’ve been learning a lot more about our homeland and its people these days. Our rich history shows how much potential Filipinos have, but it’s such a waste that we’re taking that for granted.
We’re a melting pot of talents, and I can’t help but feel disappointed sometimes. Did you know that the first few countries in South East Asia to produce feature films include the Philippines? Oh, and we were the bomb in the industry! Did you know that there was a time when Filipinos were thought to be the best dancers in South East Asia? That we’re considered to be great singers? Oh, and did you know that the Philippines had the first hip hop scene in Asia?
You read that right, the Philippines is sort of a hip hop pioneer in Asia. Currently, we associate hip hop with streetwear, graffiti, MCing, flip top, break dancing, YOLO, swag, and of course, rap music. It’s not always easy to the ears, unlike pop music. It’s deemed to be childish or immature sometimes. But it’s unapologetic, and it continues to impregnate new subsections like trap, lo-fi, drill, and many others. The scene itself is ever-evolving, and so are its artists. Our rappers are collaborating with musicians from other genres and artists of different forms- they are making bigger ripples in the industry or at least in their respective communities. One of these evolving and striving hip hop artists is Ceaseman.
THE ARTIST
Ceaseman is a 26 y/o rapper with a lot of titles under his belt. He recently released an album with 31 tracks, and it doesn’t seem like he’s slowing down any time soon.
The subliminal rapper is a member of the hip hop group Kaustik Route. Apart from that, he’s also a film writer/director. Ceaseman is the founder of PFK Collective, the drummer of a surf rock band called The Chingks, and he also represents GSIDE Records, RESBAK, INGAY LIKHA, and The Toymaker Productions.
Life wasn’t exactly kind to Ceaseman. He’s a first-born child in a very conservative family and was expected to carry the responsibility as the breadwinner. But his father went missing, he was detained and eventually had to drop out. He has gone through failures after severing ties with his band back then in hopes of forming a new one among the many other misfortunes that happened in his life. He has seen and experienced a kind of world, not many people his age would have seen, and it’s evident in his compositions.
The variety of life’s horrors, pleasures, and rewards in his music reflects his life as an artist, as a Filipino, and as a man trying to live his life to its fullest. His comrades, Filipino arts and music scene made him feel the need to give everything he’s got to his craft and dreams.
Ceaseman sees himself as a “revolutionary artist” hoping to send messages through film and his music. He also believes that “that ignorance is a choice in the age of information and technology, “ so it’s expected that most of his songs tackle certain social issues that are particular in the Philippines. His bars aren’t always black and white. The lyrics would seem like provoking you to see different perspectives, which would sometimes require you to listen to it a couple more times.
What’s really amusing is his versatility as a musician. Before he became a rapper, he was first a drummer for a post-hardcore band. He also plays melodica as well as other percussion instruments. Ceaseman definitely has the ears for the beats. His skill for weaving words together developed from being an emcee, which requires someone to be quick-witted, interactive, and creative. Bring his musical inclination, life experiences, critical thinking, collaborative mindset, passion for the arts together with his wordplay and you got a recipe for a good hip hop artist.
THE ALBUM
On the 30th of October this year, Ceaseman released an album entitled “Carpe Omnia” which is currently available on Spotify, Youtube, Amazon, Itunes, Medianet, Tiktok, and other major music stores.
The title means “seize it all” following the theme of its precedent, “Carpe Deym” (carpe diem), which is the Latin translation for “seize the day.” The recently released album has 30 songs with a hidden track only available on the physical copy. The bonus track is in collaboration with two distinct figures in the hip hop scene and was recorded in Tondo, Manila.
Carpe Omnia will definitely take you on a ride with its variety of hip hop subsections. The jazz and lo-fi flavors, as well as the forgotten Tagalog words like ruweda (wheel), galugad (scouring for something), and bagwis (feathers), made the album refreshing and interesting.
Ceaseman said that he wanted to overwhelm the hip hop community and hype up his comrades by releasing this many songs. It’s like a compensation to his 3-year hiatus, which he spent playing as a drummer for Roots and flowers and The Chingks.
“So technically, Carpe Omnia is 3 albums in one for the three years that I should have released a single album per year.“
Among the many songs in the album, Ceaseman particularly likes Bon Vivant, Onis, Avant Garde Bagwis sa Hawla, and the hidden track. I personally loved Bagwis sa Hawla, which I think is the most personal. This sounded like a narration of his life when he was just deciding to pursue his passion, choose himself, and leave their home to take a chance- like the story of most artists who have a family member that doesn’t believe in their passion or dreams. The other songs I keep playing on repeat are Para-paraan, G, J. Crapola, and Ruweda.
THE FUTURE
Despite the pandemic, Ceaseman is planning to release yet another album early next year, which he will be entitling “Carpe Vitam” or “seize the life.”
Ceaseman said that he still has 4 albums worth of content in his creative bank, so there are definitely many possibilities for this young artist. He’s hoping to collaborate more with other artists, especially those that have greatly influenced his music.
It seems like Ceaseman is already claiming 2021 to be his year as he’s planning to do an album tour for Carpe Omnia, and release music videos and a new single along with his comrades from the PFK Collective. Supporters should also expect live hip hop sets with a band real soon.
Even if we don't want to admit it, the standard has always been the Western's in the music industry. With the scope of their influence and the history we've shared with them, we sometimes can't help but work on their shadows. As much as we want to be proud to be Filipinos, to be an independent nation with a culture and history of our own, we can't seem to detach ourselves from the colonial influence. But artists like Ceaseman, who seemed to want to desperately get out of the mold and share as much of himself in his craft, is what's making the Pinoy hip hop scene really ours. Artists like him who strive in their respective fields, though sometimes shunned by their kin or fellow Filipinos, are the very people that are saving the Filipino creative industry. They make it feel as if it's not hopeless at all.
Hip hop is unapologetic, is critical of itself, is flexible, and is resilient- much like us, Filipinos. Pinoy hip hop may not fit the masses' interest like how western hip hop does- it may not be as dominating as K-pop. Still, there are definitely many Filipinos who are passionate about it and have the talent to pursue it. We just got to acknowledge that potential, really see them, and support them. And guess what? We don't need to do much.
We just have to listen and let the beat flow.

OF COURSE!!!! I'd say you're hella close to it!!! Definitely closer than I am XDD 💖💞💝💕💝❤️💕💕❤️ A G R EED /hj XDD
Yeah ;w; oohh that sounds super interesting!! I can understand not pursuing a story tho, stories are d i f f icult-- XD fun, but difficult, and you need an attention span for them! (Why do you think I only write one page stories??)
OMS yessss that's so accurate tho-- like I haven't changed much if I'm being honest (I spend a LOT of time inside.. XD) awww-- I can understand that- in japan we didn't have a backyard, so I stopped going outside much at all-- occasionally I biked to convenience stores or walked to vending machines, that was cool, but no backyard :/ having no backyard sUCks, like where am I supposed to scream into the void?? INSIDE?? /j
OMS-- CRYS XDD what a Mood™ tho- "oh I'm gonna continue this thing!!" *does something else entirely*
XDD It was done Against My Will™ (get Against My Will on the album I Haven't Awoken Well Rested Since I Was A Child by the band The Bags Under My Eyes Aren't Makeup! XD) MOOD-- I spent the quarantine summer doing nothing but staying up until the sun rose and sleeping until it was at its peak- where did the time goooo
I AGREE HOW DARE HE- LIKE EXCUSE?? YOU TINY HEATHEN??? anyways now I'm trying to go back to squirting him with a squirt bottle to startle him(even tho he's a fan of water, the harsh spray startles him) but anyways thank you crysss I'm never getting a cat in my life now bc of this rude child (dogs are superior anyways /hj)
(and now time to reply to the OTHER ask cause I'm efficient and not going to send two separate asks to respond to things that can be responded to at the same time.. ....why did I even ramble about that wtf henry(huh I never refer to myself by name that felt weird))
Okay!! No worries dude, you can always take your time with replies, I just don't trust tumblr XD 💞❤️💕💝💝💖💕❤️💖 of course!!! Thank you!!! 💖💕💕💖💞💕
Oooh!!! That sounds super fun!!! Man I miss hanging out with my friends-- but my closest friend(lives in my neighborhood) has a parent who works in other people's houses, so high risk, and the rest live several hours away :)) but anyways yeah that sounds hella!!!! I love that y'all were just like "okay well. we're gonna hang out anyways." XDD
Aww-- I'm glad you are!! My brother and his bf were supposed to come but I think we have to postpone that cause someone in his workplace tested positive for covid :( YESS FOODDDD-- oooh cheesecake?? I've never heard of having it on Thanksgiving!! Usually we have pumpkin, cherry, apple, and pecan pies!! (We're having pumpkin and cherry ones this yeah!! Two pumpkin pies, a cherry pie, and a cherry cobbler--) I... Have never heard of pineapple pie in my life! Sounds like it would make pineapple-on-pizza haters burst into tears tho--
YOURE WHAT-- CRYS YOU HEATHEN IT IS NOVEMBER!!!!! /j I can't stand Christmas music, being a choir student made me not be a huge fan of it-- too much Christmas music.. ugh. (Straight no chaser is tolerable at least. And Pentatonix. And covers by artists I like. But if I have to hear Jingle Bells ONE MORE TIME--) YESSS BESTOW UPON ME THOU'S PRESENCE AND PRESENTS... Ooh nice!! Pfft XDD Yess- I have multiple on my wishlist-- mostly for the switch-- OMS I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T ASK FOR THSC-- MAYBE IM THE HEATHEN--
Okay, it's January 5th! Literally not even two weeks after Christmas-- Feel free to scream happy birthday at me :3 XDD now I'm curious, what's yours?
awhhh thank you ;w;; 💕💞💕💞💞💕💞
and legiT- and omg- also what i do a lot is thinking i have a story all in control but then i realise that i only focused on the main parts and nOT the transitions and all that shit and then i end up last minute thinking them- XDD and ngl one page stories sound SOO much better- imo- not just for writing- but for reading as well- whenever i go to see a fanfic I always read the ones that has one chapter- dunno how to fully explain it- possibly cause its satisfying to see a story actually have its end other than a long lasting series that will never end- XDD oneshots are my FUEL
buT WoW omg this topic has now made me realise how i barely go outside- XDD i wish there would be other thingd around my neighborhood other than a "park" that has DEAD GRASS and the sprinklers go off like every hour for some reason- duNNo what the builders were thinking but i guess i dont mind- i stay in my house a whOLELE lot xD
and YESS IT GETS ME EVERYTIME- "hey lets draw-" *-WRITES-* XDD AND ABHAHAHAHA (NOW ON YOUR LOCAL MUSIC STORES- XDDDD) and omG MEEE- the times i would usually sleep would be around 3 am to 6 am- ironically my mom has a more screwed up schedule than i do- and SHE STILL HAS- last night she told me that she hasnt slept in 48 HOURSSS- MaMAAA PLEASE SLEEP
GO AWAY CAT HEATHEN- XD and omG a squirt bottle of water yes XDD and awh i definitely understand now how youll not get a cat- sounds like a hecka pain ;0;; i never even had a pet before (or not that i would recall- oh wait i think i had fish but i have an embarrassing story that made my mom ban fish from the household- OH MAN the shame)
and yeahh oh man- i hope you are okay with all these topics XDD and thank you!! 💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞
awwhh i see- i wish you can hang out with your friends without it being too risky! that reminds me of that one time where my friend said "hey so uh you guys can hang out at my house since at my parent's workplace someone was positive for covid" and then immeadiately after they were like "SO WE NEED TO GO TO ONE OF YOUR GUYS' HOUSE" and Im LIKE- UH- NOO??? nOt AfTEr you just say THAT- nuh uh- thankfully we didnt hang out that day- better safe than sorry xD
and omggg those pies sound AWWESOMEEEE- i always wanted to try pumpkin pie before but when i asked my mom that she was like "nO iTS diSGusTing" and im like "*visible confusion*" and lOwKEY SAME- pineapple pie just sounds a bit off but my mom was really hyped to make it xD i'd actually say its not that bad! but im still not a fan of pineapple so uhhh xD (aNd YEAH IT DOES feel like it would make those haters cry-- XDD)
and PFHAOHFA IM A LIVING HEATHEN- XDD omg at this time of year- it gets CRAZYY for me- first off- Tree is a true filipino- right when it was the first day october- youd hear them say "FUCK HALLOWEEN"(and id just whine to them like "BUT HALLOWENENENEN") and then their family set up a whole christmas tree and over-the-top decorations- and omg- if you hate christmas music- you would despise the philippines sO MUCH- when the FIRST day of SEPTEMBER hits- CHRISTMAS MUSIC ON ALLLLL THE STORES- it will drive you WILDDD ( yeah its actually a normal filipino thing- not that i ever went to the philippines myself at tHAT time of year- but my friends and family tell me all about it- filipinos are the true christmas maniacs XDDD)
and awhhh choir must be a pain ;0;;; that would remind me how on one concert- the beginners class of choir screamed on purpose even though they werent supposed to- the teacher got so pissed XDDD and YESSS PRESENTSSSS- and awh man- i actually dont own ANY consoles at all- so the only things i can ask for is steam games- last year for christmas i got just shapes and beats- which was WORTHHH
and oo YAY- now i shall mark that on my calander- XD and mine is february 7!

5 non fliction books about Philippines
1. Ghost Soldiers
“On January 28, 1945, 121 hand-selected U.S. troops slipped behind enemy lines in the Philippines. Their mission: March thirty rugged miles to rescue 513 POWs languishing in a hellish camp, among them the last survivors of the infamous Bataan Death March. A recent prison massacre by Japanese soldiers elsewhere in the Philippines made the stakes impossibly high and left little time to plan the complex operation. In Ghost Soldiers Hampton Sides vividly re-creates this daring raid, offering a minute-by-minute narration that unfolds alongside intimate portraits of the prisoners and their lives in the camp. Sides shows how the POWs banded together to survive, defying the Japanese authorities even as they endured starvation, tropical diseases, and torture. Harrowing, poignant, and inspiring, Ghost Soldiers is the mesmerizing story of a remarkable mission. It is also a testament to the human spirit, an account of enormous bravery and self-sacrifice amid the most trying conditions” (Amazon.com)
2. All about Philippines
“All About the Philippines takes you on an incredible journey across the colorful island nation of the Philippines with Mary, Jaime, and Ari—three Filipino cousins who look entirely different and yet are the best of friends. You'll visit their homes, their schools, their families, their favorite places, and much more. They'll show you how kids in different parts of the Philippines come from many different ethnic groups and have very various cultures—each with separate traditions, languages, and beliefs—and yet, they are all 100% Filipino! “ (Amazon.com)
3. The Philippines: The visual journey
“The Philippine Archipelago with its 7,100 islands is culturally diverse and unique in Southeast Asia, and renowned for the splendor of its coastal beaches and terraced mountains. Seventy million Filipinos have been nurtured by both tropical environment and unique historical development—through 300 years of Spanish Christianization and 40 years of American modernization—and have emerged as an attractive blend of East and West, soul and style. The island country is perhaps best known for the friendliness of its people and their natural sense of song, dance and hospitality. The archipelago is also called "Pearl of the Orient." With over 150 photographs and a detailed map, Exciting Philippines is an essential book for expats or tourists traveling to the Philippines.” (Amazon.com)
4. Filipino celebrations: a treasury of feasts and festivals.
In the Philippines, people love to celebrate—holidays are filled with music and dancing, sometimes with colorful costumes, and always with great food! Rich with detailed watercolors and cultural flavor, Filipino Celebrations: A Treasury of Feasts and Festivals makes major holidays (like Christmas) and family gatherings (like weddings and birthdays) come alive. From these pages, children will learn the history of each holiday, its cultural influences, the varied ways in which people celebrate in different regions of the Philippines, special customs and food, key words and phrases (in English and Tagalog), and more. Games, songs, and other activities invite young readers to join in the fun. New and familiar holidays take on a special flavor as children learn about the diverse cultures that make up this wonderful island nation. Perfect for Filipino-American families looking to share the unique culture of the Philippines, educators interested in promoting multiculturalism in the classroom, or anyone interested in the country, Filipino Celebrations will encourage children ages five to ten to participate and learn while having fun. Celebrations and festivals include: Mga Kaarawan—Birthdays
Semana Santa—Holy Week
Mga Barrio Fiestas—Town Festivals
Mga Binyag—Baptisms
Araw ng Kalayaan—Independence Day and more!” (Amazon.com)
5. Legends of lower gods
These pre-Spanish gods I have classified under twelve groups:
1. Demons—tall, dark, and ugly creatures that haunt large trees in or near human habitations.
2. Dragons—usually large animal forms such as pythons, crocodiles, and sharks that the folk avoid encountering. But they are often spoken to with awe or reverence and are thought to bring good fortune. Eclipses are thought to be caused by a huge sky dragon—the laho of the Tagalogs and Pampangos—swallowing the sun or moon. The folk believe that thunder is the sound coming out of the folds of the sky dragon's long body.
3. Dwarfs—old men who dwell underground with jars of treasure, entering and leaving their habitat through termite mounds on which they often invisibly sit and give itches and cast dust into the eyes of those who molest them.
4. Elves—short or tall fair-complexioned tree-dwelling legendary beings that try to seduce the men or women they fancy, steal rice and fish from kitchens and fishtraps, and give treasure to those who please them.
5. Ghouls—Aswang that devour corpses and are scared off by bright light and loud noise around the dead.
6. Giants—relatively harmless large human and animal forms that often interact with people.
7. Merfolk—fish-tailed men and women found in rivers, bays, and seas but living in luxurious dwellings to which they take the men or women they capture.
8. Ogres—man-eating large creatures, usually in the shape of ugly humans but in some cases of animals and birds that devour people.
9. Vampires—pretty women aswang with long tubular tongues through which they suck out blood from their human victims, usually their dancing partners in night spots.
10. Viscera Takers—good-looking women aswang with enormously extendible tube tongues through which they suck out the entrails or fetuses of their human victims.
11. Werebeasts—aswang in the form of dogs or other fierce Philippine animals that attack people at night, devour them, and then resume their harmless human form.
12. Witches—men and usually women aswang who have the power to make people severely ill.
The beliefs in these twelve groups of demonological beings have shaped Philippine culture and Philippine behavior because the folk fear and try hard to propitiate them or counteract the harm they do.”( Amazon.com)
