I did like, 20 tag drops on the new blog and still have to do them for my ocs. Makes me think how people move blogs so much when I dread doing that

MY EXPERIENCE IN THE ROLEPLAYING COMMUNITY
🔥 my hot take about the roleplaying community
I mostly stick to the fandoms I'm most comfortable with, but I find everyone I've come across so far to be most welcoming. However, I wish I could understand the whole aesthetics thing better. Everyone makes such great and fancy promos and my photoshop skills aren't there yet.
I've been around the community since 2013 and seen so much. While the community has come to be a little more accepting to OCs then they were back then, I still think it's a WIP.
At the end of the day we're all little humans popping online to escape the real world and write out our favorite characters to our hearts content and have fun. This isn't a job, it's a hobby. That's what it's all about <3
⭐️ my roleplay pet peeves
I'm usually a pretty chill person, so I actually have to think heavily on this one.
Rushing me for replies, especially in a timely manner ---In the past, I've had some people snap at me for getting to others replies, but not theirs. Sometimes you have the muse for certain characters, and then other times you don't. It could take days, weeks, or even months, who knows?! But especially since I developed my nerve problem and deal with chronic pain now, that's even more of a battle to fight. Luckily I haven't had anyone do this to me on here though. <3
Being strict about OCs, or at least saying that if you're an OC to not interact --- This is mostly referring to how things were here in the past with OCs. It made me not even want to write my own OCs before. However, there are sadly some people who still aren't so welcoming to OCs and it's sad because they are missing out on great creations ----Cue the: you can't expect OCs to have fully completed biographies post and especially how OCs need engagement in order to develop!
🌸 the blog/s that most inspires me
Okay, literally ALL MY MUTUALS!!!
But if I really gotta pick a few....
@maestrs --- Danny with their portrayal of all the Master's! *chief's kiss* Just have the crown already! 👑
@mysteriouself --- Someone I enjoy interacting with both in and ooc and inspires me with so many ideas!
Literally every other fellow Astarion roleplayer out there! --- He's a character that's grown so dear to me and seeing everyone else's different portrayal's and writing of him is unique and always so great to see. It inspires me <3 Keep at it!
🍄 my favorite original character blog(s)
Do I just have to pick ONE? Can I pick more? I'm gonna pick more.
@dulcetfanged --- I'm enjoying our interactions with Almond's original character, Meladi.
@albinoxherbalist --- Rose is a wonderful OC and I enjoy all our interactions!

Playing around in Photoshop I had a sudden desire to create a photograph-based upon me and @xtheimpossiblesoufflex 1920′s Clara and Eleven roleplay. Within it, the Doctor reassigns his cells (just as he did in Family of Blood) to hide from something in human form. With this change, he also took Clara’s memories of the Doctor with him. They are an engaged couple living within Manhattan, unaware of who they truly are. Here are the three stages I went through to edit this photograph. The first one is after I have manipulated it to the desired effect. The second has added faded and worn effects, and the final version has a border.

I love AO3. I really, truly do. But at the same time, it reminds me that fanfic had a very different feel back in the day… in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
We didn't so much promote our stories as we traded them like literary contraband, handing them out in the back alleys of newsboards and forums and LiveJournal to be gobbled up by the desperate, starving masses. Sometimes you wouldn't post them, you would simply mention that you had written them; and when someone asked to see your story you would send them an email with the creation copy-pasted within. Those of us who had our own Geocities or Angelfire websites would make elaborate pages for each story, setting the background and font color to match what we felt the fic evoked, and of course adding pictures that we had slapped together in Photoshop for flavor.
When FFnet came along, we eagerly thrust our creations into its algorithm, like birds shoving their babies out of the nest; then we held our breath and waited to see if anyone cared enough to make a comment before our stories slipped into the depths of the pit, never to be seen or read again. And the tingle we felt in our chests when someone did finally comment left us on a high for hours or even days.
There were annual fanfiction awards for some fandoms, and if you won any category at all you would wear that award proudly... a badge of honor to be displayed in your forum signature or FFnet profile. But really, the ultimate honor was when someone did fan art of your stories and posted it on DeviantArt or LJ, and you would hold on to that picture like a child clinging to a favorite teddy bear.
More often than not, the people you knew in real life weren't aware of what you did with your spare time, and you would have died of embarrassment if they ever found out. In general, you stayed in your lane, keeping other fandoms out of your business, except for the occasional crossover (which came with the added complication of having to choose which fandom to post them under on FFnet). We didn't have beta readers... hell, sometimes we didn't edit at all. Grammar and spelling mattered less than your passion for the subject, and research was conducted somewhat haphazardly, to the point where any anachronisms were shrugged off. Still, OOC characters were raked thoroughly across the coals; questioned and poked until the author explained why they had written them that way.
The tropes and cliches that people now cringe at were created then, embraced wholeheartedly. Mary Sues and self-inserts and songfics were everywhere… and we loved it. Authors would interrupt their own stories in the middle to add notes, sometimes presented as the characters themselves giving you information about what was going on in the story or what led the author to add this or that small detail.
We were afraid of being copyright claimed, we were afraid of being ridiculed, we were afraid of being sued by Anne Rice (even if we didn't write anything that took place in her universe). We felt rebellious, accomplished, and maybe a little guilty about what we wrote; but we wrote it because we loved it, and that was enough.
As I said, I really do love AO3… but there was just such a culture surrounding fanfic back then… a kinship and a sisterhood. I wish that those who have never gotten to experience it could have the chance to go back for a while, feel the way it felt… same as I wish my own kids could have experienced the freedom of summer vacation back when summer vacation meant freedom.
The world is just too fast now, the internet too loud; you have to run to catch up, scream to be heard... when sometimes all you want to do is whisper, "Hey… I wrote something… does anyone want to take a look?" and to have someone whisper back, "Yes! Send it to me and I'll print it out to read in bed tonight!"

(Template & PSD)
{I started writing Piers in November of 2019, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience here! I’ve met, interacted with, and befriended so many amazing people and their muses. People I consider great friends by now. Along with the friends I’ve made, I like to say this blog was what brought about my growth in graphic-creation. I love designing things, so I feel like I got better at making graphics and experimenting with Photoshop, PSDs, and icons. I’m very proud and happy with what I’ve made here and I hope I continue to get better.
I’d also like to credit this blog with helping me get better at actually socializing OOC. Socializing in general is difficult for me, both online and offline, but I’ve always thought that me typing/writing out what I wanted to say instead of actually speaking it was way easier, so I just applied that to socializing here.
Anyway, I’ve reached 100 followers today. It’s such a milestone for any blog, but it really means a lot to me, since I was admittedly kinda nervous about if I was writing Piers well enough or close enough to canon. But you all are enjoying him so far, which I’m so grateful for. Now, for me to tag some specific people who have made my time here particularly delightful (please don’t be upset if you don’t see your URL here, I still love all of my followers) regardless of how long we’ve been interacting...}
