Posting this because I reblogged something about Usborne Books and apparently most people seem to associate Usborne with lift-the-flap books for preschoolers.

Which is weird because to me as a child Usborne books were some of the spookiest books I could get my hands on. They filled the same place as Dorling Kindersley - colorful, creative, informative books that were educational as well as fun to read. And their approach to myths and legends was, not going to lie, very formative for me. If it wasnt' for Usborne, there might not have been ABC.

And much like Dorling Kindersley, Usborne went through a phase of extreme creative experimentation before stagnating into safer forms of publishing. But for a while, Usborne books were mindblowing.

So what has Usborne done then that aren't lift-the-flap books for preschoolers? Well, a lot. Puzzle Adventures. Extreme map and code puzzles. How to Draw Books. Cut-out and build houses, Trojan horses, and dinosaurs (by Luis Rey no less). How to Be A Detective. Nature spotter's guides. Nature Search books. Facts and Lists books that instilled cosmic horror in me years before I knew what cosmic horror was. I could go on forever.

There was a series of excellent myths and legends books which I posted about before.

These were illustrated by Rodney Matthews and were every bit as metal as you'd expect from something by Rodney frickin' Matthews.

Then there were the Quest books which were Where's Waldo-esque books that followed a storyline in a fantasy world.

In this case, they showcased lush art by Nick Harris in which you find various items or characters to make the story progress, as well as other random things (find 10 rats, find 8 clownfishes, etc).

The Tabloid Histories books, oh my gosh.

Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Medieval, etc. history told through tabloid articles and ads.

More about monsters though! There were books about folktales and legends illustrated by Stephen Cartwright.

For me it was my first time hearing of a lot of them, such as the Lambton Worm!

The Haunted World, now that was spooky! With lots of colorful, dripping art by Graham Humphreys.

Introduced me to a lot of ghosts, vampires, and monsters from around the world. Such as the story of Arnold Paole!

And there were maps and diagrams...

... and lindorns [sic] and mokele-mbembes!

The Supernatural Guides had denser text but sadly have not been reprinted anytime recently.

The World of the Unknown series, though... ohohoho those were good.

Of course (no offense to fans of ghosts and UFOs), I had eyes only for the Monsters book. With such gems as the Velue...

... the Lambton Worm...

... and cryptozoological rubbish such as the Monongahela sea serpent (below), the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, and their ilk.

You know, the sort of thing that would keep a 7-year-old fascinated (and perhaps scared under the blankets) for weeks.

Anyway, yeah I just really love Usborne books. Or at least what they used to be.

I’ve been gone for so long but I have so much to say and idk how to say it so please be prepared for an absolute mess of an ask lol

First, I just really wanna give appreciation for Super Emeralds (The comic creator) and their dedication to THOAM. I’ve been on Tumblr for just a little more than a year at this point, and I only joined in the first place because of this comic. I got into it way back in… What was it, 2020?? 2021? And I fell in love immediately with the concept! Sonic feeling insecure about his new Werehog form? Chip being an active member of the team and a great friend?? TEAM DARK??? SONADOW DONE RIGHT?????????? Ohohoho! You can bet I was completely on board! I tried my best to comment on every page, because I just love giving positive feedback for things I enjoy, and took note of how Super Emeralds evolved their style as the years went on. I wasn’t there during the beginning, and I really wish I was, but the time I’ve spent following this fun little comic has made me feel so much appreciation not just for Super Emeralds as a person, but for the entire Sonic art community as a whole! Art is a creative endeavor, a passionate career, and sometimes it’s really hard to just. Draw. Comics are especially hard as I’ve discovered. So just… Good job to Super Emeralds for sticking around all these years and for giving us such an incredibly thought out and beloved series. And thank you.

ALRIGHT ENOUGH OF THAT MUSHY GUSHY STUFF AND LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BLUE BOY HIMSELF THAT IS NOW NO LONGER JUST BLUE MUAHAHAHAHASHEHEHEKEFHEOFHFFPWEHFLFHD

I’ve been a bit absent from Tumblr for the last few weeks due to sickness and lack of interest so I am undoubtedly missing a page or two from the equation but OH MY GOSH. POOR SONIC. Bro wakes up from like a 2-day long nap and the first thing he sees is his little brother screaming in his face at 3AM. He’s so confused haha! I noticed he isn’t as insecure or he isn’t really freaking out as much as I assumed he would way back during the exposition pages. This is obviously due to the confusion and whiplash after waking up as his “Normal” self again, but I feel like it’s just him putting on another fascade around his friends. To an extent, at least. He isn’t aware of the new pink markings all over his body and he isn’t aware of just how worried all his friends were. All he knows is that they know about his new form and they for some reason aren’t acting weird about it, so he’s likely just playing along to make sure nobody gets overly concerned. It just seems like something he’d do. Or maybe I’m just grasping at the angst straws, idk.

OMEGA IS FIXED BY THE WAY I DO NOT WISH TO GLOSS OVER THAT FACT. THE BOY IS BACK!! THE ROBO BOYO IS BACK!!! I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE ALL THE CRIMES HE’LL BE ABLE TO COMMIT ONCE TAILS GETS THOSE ROCKET LAUNCHERS WORKING AGAIN HEHEHEEE

Also let’s not gloss over how Omega doesn’t care that Sonic mauled him to death. Let’s not gloss over the fact that Omega clearly cares for the others because of his ignorance to Sonic’s rampage.

Uhhhhh I don’t really have much else to say, honestly. Maybe I will later, but right now I’m on a time crunch so I gotta keep this all pretty concise. “The Lost Woods are a dangerous place. Illusions are common, and many get lost forever in the mist. Don’t stray too far from the group. Hopefully none of you get too delirious.” Time warned.

Legend was instantly on guard, not liking the implications of that. He knew he could be vulnerable if he got one of these so called illusions. What he was not expecting was the smithy to be affected by it. 

Suddenly Four’s eyes blew wide, growing a bit foggy. They were blue, unlike the regular grey they show. “What are you?” He questioned the chain, eyebrows furrowed.

“Four it’s us!” Wind called out. 

The smith didn’t seem to hear the sailor and instead pulled out his sword and swung it, barely missing the kid. Four had said something but the veteran didn’t catch exactly what he had said. Wind had dodged quickly and ran back, not wanting to get hurt. “Link, it’s okay.” Warriors walked up, hands spread in surrender. 

Legend warily followed close behind, also throwing up his hands watching as the smith flinched. Unfortunately for literally everyone Four had been aiming the sword at himself, and stabbed himself. “Hrk, what the!” Four grunted.

“FOUR!” 

Legend didn’t know who had yelled, until he realized he had. 

The smithy had showed off his blood soaked hands, clearly confused at the entire situation. “When did…”

Legend saw Four’s eyes roll to the back of his head and he crumpled to the ground. There were cries of surprise as everyone rushed to the smith. Hyrule was kneeling at Four’s side examining the wound. “What the fuck just happened?” Legend wondered. 

“The mist isn’t usually that strong. Maybe there’s something going on.” Time mused, eyeing said mist around them.

“Why did it affect Four, and none of us?” Sky wondered.

“I…don’t know.” Time admitted.

Then there was silence. Everybody watching anxiously as Hyrule did his magic. “I’ll need a fairy.” Hyrule cursed.

Legend searched his pouch and found a few bottles with cherry red liquid in them but failed to find an actual fairy. He hoped someone else had one. 

“Here!” Sky called, tossing the bottle to the traveller.

“Sky, watch it next time.” Hyrule scowled, popping the cork off of the bottle. 

A fairy flew out, and zipped around the smithy, pink dust trailing behind it. The wound remained though, much to everybody’s horror. “Why is this happening again?” Wind asked quietly, voice soft and almost unreadable. 

Warriors wrapped the younger in a warm embrace. 

“It’s the mist, isn’t it?” Legend sighed.

“Well, there’s no real way to tell right now. That might be the most logical assumption though.” Time shrugged.

“It’s all a mystery isn’t it?”

Legend jerked around to see Dark Link standing there, a smug look on his face. The veteran found rage that he didn’t know he had and he lunged at the shadow, first instinct to bite it. The shadow screeched, and kicked Legend off, looking incredibly disgusted. 

The veteran wiped black blood from his mouth, face twisted in a scowl. 

“Why are you here?” Warriors asked, gritting his teeth.

“Why not? The mist here only gets more powerful, you’ll soon be under it’s influence just like your friend there. I’m simply here to enjoy the shitshow.” Dark Link shrugged.

“I wouldn’t get too confident, shadow.” Warriors growled pulling out his sword.

“Ohohoho, and you think you have the upper hand here?” Dark Link snorted, rolling his eyes.

Warriors didn’t respond, eyes seeming to pierce through the shadow. 

“Watch and learn, soldier.” Dark Link grinned maniacally and waved his hands around, the mist suddenly growing thicker and thicker.

Why did the captain have to open his mouth?

Legend coughed, the mist acting like smoke in his lungs, and he heard a voice. 

“Link, where are you going?

“Marin?!” 

Link saw a glimpse of flowing red hair and a hibiscus and ran to her. 

“Link!” The girl giggled.

Link lost all sense of reality, wrapping arms around the mist that seemed like his beloved dream girl. 

“Don’t go.” He pleaded.

“I won’t. Just stay with me forever.” Marin requested, a smile on her face.

“I will, I promise.” 

“Veteran, please!” A different voice urged.

Link pulled out his sword. 

“Link they’re bad, I know it.” Marin squeaked.

Link gave a battle cry and slashed at his opponents, the mist was blinding him though. Suddenly there were arms around him. “Link, hurry! I can’t stay here much longer!” Marin screamed.

“I’m coming!” Link struggled, eventually biting his captors and running off in the mist. 

“Legend come back!” 

Link didn’t know who this Legend was, but he was not interested.

Ignoring the (admittedly tasty) idea (that we both enjoy) that the two of them unwittingly crossed paths before DD1/2, what do you headcanon Jester and Leper's first actual interaction was like?

Honestly, I could see Jester having a huge inherent bias against royalty (which fair, lol). "The idea of a good king is an oxymoron", etc. Which, depending on when he realizes Leper's former profession, could make things tricky. Too soon, he'll be hostile from the get-go; too late, he could feel betrayed to some degree. Meanwhile, I could imagine Leper being just a tad smitten from the get-go, though that could be my shipping (and jester) bias coming out, lol! Your thoughts on all this, though?

ohohoho yes, this is always a fun thought experiment.

i don't think Leper was super blatantly open about his former status at first, i'm sure he'd been wandering the earth for some years before arriving in the Hamlet and wised up about the dangers of flaunting. but c'mon, the regal bearing, the golden mask, the well-educated eloquence, he's clearly from some status. i think Grave Robber would figure him out in an instant, and Jester definitely gets a strong sense of it.

which is why i doubt Jester did a goddamn thing Leper asked of him for like the first month or more. sure, now he'll keep Leper's sanity from snapping, but that's bare minimum because the Heir told him to knock it off. hardly a smile, hardly a glance his way, hardly giving him the time of day, mocking Leper even outside of camping, etc.

Leper would have to prove he sees Jester as a person rather than a fool, and not just once or twice. it probably takes some time before Leper earns that trust.

on his part, i think Leper was probably drawn to him a bit, being a poet and likely a man of some arts. while pretty often crude and/or bawdy, he'd still consistently be at Jester's performances and genuinely appreciating his talent. and thanks to his metaphorically thick skin Jester's jabs don't bother him too badly (except for those aimed at his diseased appearance, to which he leaves before his emotions cause him to act/speak rashly. perhaps one time Jester takes it too far and realizes how Leper's mild irritation looks compared to his anger). in fact, Leper could probably match wits with Jester! why is my brain conjuring a poetic rap battle

This is me joining the FMA OC train SDFGHJ LISTEN YES I AM ADDING A THIRD TO ROYAI WITH MY OWN OC BUT HEAR ME OUT-

SO! The quick idea of this guy is that he is an rogue Alchemist that distributes alchemical materials regulated by the state under the table. Originally Roy went to investigate him to arrest him but at the end they reached a deal of Artemi will help Mustang with operations he doesn't want the military to know >:3c

Now the thing about this bug of a man is that he looves learning, both alchemy and everything about people- Specially people, to a concerning degree SDFGH Idunno if stalker is the right word but he does fit someone who tries to find literally every piece of information on someone who he fixates on. Enter Colonel Roy Mustang, a particularly mysterious, high-ranking officer who holds one of the greatest accomplishments of Alchemy - Controlling fire- at his fingerprints AND HE- DOESN'T SHARE IT!! ROY THINK ABOUT THE ALCHEMICAL COMMUNITY AND OUR PROGRESS!!

This makes him start fixating and stalking Roy, trying to figure out how to get Flame Alchemy out of him and why he keeps it secret. Is not even out of malice is genuine curiosity and a bit of annoyance over someone keeping something secret from him LOL. This eventually leads him to Riza's hometown where he learns about a long-dead alchemist that never interacted with anyone else- Berthold Hawkeye. And finally having made the connection and realizing the key isn't Roy but RIZA it makes him even more obsessed. On her.

LIKE OMG! I ignored her just as another subordinate but she is the key! Kept right in his shadow! So clever! And it turns out is even HARDER to find things about Riza and her relationship with Alchemy. At this point he finds her more interesting that Roy because whatever the fuck is going on with her is so!! Entertaining for him to try and take apart <3

I think he would eventually figure out the alchemical formula is somewhere in Riza's body, and here is where the weird, third-party in the Royai ship bit comes from ASDFGH I mean, he might stalk and find everything about his subjects, but he is not a creep, he needs Riza to show him consensually! He also doesn't want to anger Roy, he likes the guy! So now he is trying to insert himself in their situationship so he can be in the cuck throne getting a good peek at that Flame Alchemy formula....

I WILL SAY he does really like them both genuinely and he doesn't want to hurt them, is just... whatever it is, it is not romantic or even sexual attraction is a weird third secret thing ASDFGHJKL I also want to explore some stuff with him like Royai's relationship with Alchemy and their own morals.... I AM ACTUALLY OBSESSED WITH THIS CONCEPT AND WHATEVER IS GOING ON IN HERE!!! I spin them in my brain

I do really want to do more stuff with him btw I am just. Not particularly motivated to draw or busy 😭But I would like to at least do more art of him! And maybe one day write a fanfic or something who knows... I just have a bunch of random scenes floating in my brain............

darius was a young eleven-year-old in alpersville. he had only one family member - andrew, his twin brother. together they stayed in the village's orphanage, which took in children from other towns too. he's not sure when he was put there, his earliest memory still being of the orphanage.

he adores painting and art! he & andrew even had plans to make a comic book or something when they grew up :)

his best friend - madilyn - was amazing. she was funny and kind, even managed to get on his brother's good side! which...was rare, considering how closed off he can be. unless it came to sports. god, did andrew like sports.

may comes around, and everything seems normal. to him, at least. it's...a bit terrifying, knowing there's a serial killer of sorts going around, but- it's fine! besides, it's unlikely he'll get targeted - their targets seem to always be adults.

...where's andrew? darius hasn't seen him in a bit. well, he has, but it's...he seems distant, almost. where does he keep going off to-?

3. My Monday has been great! Yesterday was incredibly overwhelming at work (being a cashier is boring most of the time but some days it feels like everyone and their mother has decided they need to come to your location right now and then it’s like that for the entire day 🙃), and so today I really just wanted some peace and quiet. I curled up with my copy of Terry Pratchett’s The Color of Magic and took it easy ☺️

sorekara setting design

Here are some notes on the development of SOREKARA's style and presentation. If you couldn't already tell, SK takes a lot of inspiration from 70's/80's anime, Nobody's Boy Remi being the reference point for much of it. I've always respected Dezaki for his monumental work so I've always wanted to pay tribute to it (especially the early stuff). I don't think I was as successful as I'd like to have been, but alas! There is still more to come! So without further ado!

I was just talking about Dezaki , but now I shall talk about something completely different. To set the tone, I created the cat and the trolley setting first. The Girl's design should be plenty obvious (lol). But the background here I paid special attention to... I find the paints of Night on the Galactic Railroad to be very unique. They have a line less, airbrushed quality to them that blends in surprisingly well with the characters. I did some research and studied 児玉喬夫 Takao Kodama's work, as they were credited with setting design for this film as well as Genji Monogatari. Actually, if you look at Genji Monogatari's backgrounds, they have the exact same airbrushed quality! I had never done a background like this before (I am certainly not an environmental artist) but I think I did a fairly good job of it.

...I immediately switched gears and without thinking, went back to Dezaki works. I can't say I was very faithful at all. The night sky is easy to paint, with it's notable color spray and paint blots, but I diverged quite a bit with the watercolor textures. Shichiro Kobayashi is the artist I looked to the most, and this project made me appreciate him more than ever before. Just looking at his paints gets me emotional... The vibrant colors, the dramatic angles, you can just feel his reverence for life overflowing from the work. There really isn't anyone better. I need to study more if I'm to capture even a fraction of his skill. That being said, I did make sure to animate the backgrounds slightly with the sparkles on the water-- The reflection of light on water is my favorite to draw! Also, flowers are a very important motif (for various reasons, ohohoho). Kobayashi seemed to love drawing flowers, the paint around the edges give is a delicate look. Actually, if you look at the textbox...

Instead of full-color CGs, I opted to use "postcard memories". This was a technique Dezaki used where he would show a detailed, scratchy-lined illustration to highlight important moments instead of fully animating them. It creates a really memorable image that draws out all of your emotions! I tried to emulate them (the more single-toned ones, that is) for the game. It was 1/3 Dezaki worship, 1/3 time-saving technique, and 1/3 excuse to draw lots of scratchy lines. I love scratchy lines. This way, I could make a lot of memorable shots that were visually interesting without overworking myself.

As another note, I looked to Akio Sugino's character art when drawing. The characters don't really look like Sugino characters, but I was emulating his shading technique with (once-again) the scratchy lines. Ah, I was in heaven. Looking at his older work, the linework is hardly ever clean-- but the rough, hand-drawn edge gives everything a tactile quality and the strong anatomy makes everyone so gorgeous. It's like an engraving come to life.

Finally, the anime effects! On the left you can see soothat before his values are adjusted (very dark, isn't he?) and on the right you can see he is in-game, values adjusted with a more appropriate "anime" look. This is because anime cells are put onto a CRT screen, so they end up looking very different. I created an auto action in CSP to adjust the color grating and line quality of every asset before popping them into the game for the chromatic aberration to take effect. The lines are slightly crunched a blurrier compared to the original. It gives it a more "physical" look. The colors are fixed up-- you'll see there is no pure black. If you look at a physical anime cell, you'll see they more often than not do not include pure black. There is usually a tint of green or red in there.

The chromatic aberration filter... I don't know how noticeable it is to the average player, but the game actually has a built-in filter that creates a slight "chroma" effect to emulate the look of frames through a crt/light. This means the red + blue + green values of the entire screen are split up and adjusted to layer slightly off from each other, giving it a little visual interest. It was AN EXTREME doozy to put in, with my poor programmer coding it and re-coding it until the end. It seemed simple at first, but there are parts where the game zooms in which totally broke the filter! It made out eyes bleed! But it was repaired in the end, so blessing upon you, Sandy. You saved my life.

The reason why I looked to Ie Naki Ko/Nobody's Boy Remi specifically is because that's where I feel the most "pure" energy from. It is a show that leans incredibly hard on it's techniques to get by but because of that it really embodies what I love about old anime-- It has a selfless reverence for its subject that drives you to watch and surrender your heart. Dezaki's powerful directing, Sugino's gorgeous drawings and Kobayashi's majestic paintings come together to make a work that shines. The setting is truly at the forefront with the characters getting lost in the grandeur. That's the attitude I had with SOREKARA: "There are things much greater than us, so isn't it wonderful that we are able to see them side-by-side?" There are many animation techniques that are cost-effective while still being utterly beautiful, I would love to copy them someday but I wasn't able to go that far yet. At least not in the demo. There's still time, I suppose... Studying limited animation from old anime is actually extremely useful when creating visual novels. Understanding the placement of cells and their layering/movement has given me even more ideas for stories!

I ended up going on a rant about anime again ^^" But it's so beautiful, you must now understand my heart going into the work. I always think of my characters and their journey, of course, but before that I think of the setting. I want the player to experience beautiful and mysterious things alongside their traveling companions. There is still so much more to make. I hope to incorporate more Dezaki-style techniques in this and future works. Please remember the true message of my works.... Not that love finds a way, or that your connections can transform your world...it's that....anime is very, very cool.

First of all I’m flattered you liked my stuff at all haha let alone that you have stuck around despite not being in the same fandoms anymore 🥺 next of all!! What a kind thing to say!! It means a whole whole lot. I think on my end it’s harder to see improvement, so it’s really encouraging to hear that other people can see it. Like intellectually I know I am always improving, but drawing is still hard and I’m always in the weeds of my own work and don’t really get to step back and see a wider view unless I look at some of my old art and I’m like oh hey! I actually did get better bc this looks worse to me now 😂

yeah I was definitely trying to replicate the ml show style in the beginning! I decided to learn how to draw specifically so I could draw miraculous ladybug fanart HDJDJS and at first that’s all I really knew how to do. When I got into toh I didn’t replicate that style but I did incorporate some elements from it. I think I did the same a little bit w atla, and I’m doing it now w the botw/totk art style too. and I’m sure as I love more things and keep drawing it will keep developing! I am also hugely inspired by other artists and I sometimes try to incorporate the things I admire into my own work. I feel like my art style is just a culmination of all the things I have loved so much I had to create about it. just a big playdough ball with a bunch of colors rolled in, haha

Also you’ve discovered my weakness…i have an Addiction….to THE GLOW. moth behavior. I wouldn’t say I have a great understanding of lighting and colors but I sure do love when they’re happening. So I just try to make them happen and I’m like ohohoho what if it were sunset. get this: rim lighting. perhaps (definitelyhaps) a lens flare. God was so right when He said “Let there be light.”

Mirrorverse Crossover - Alya

The sorceress spent no time hearing a true introduction from her counterpart. How could this goody-good let that magical impersonator attack her foxy boyfriend? YzAlya marched right up to TiAlya, absolutely seething with anger. “Listen here, you little-” 

“Hold on, sugah!” TiAyla stated. “I know you’re hot and bothered about what happened to your boo, but I like to consider myself a reasonable person, and I’m gonna need you to step out of my personal space before I take the liberty of making you do so myself.” YzAlya gulped and reluctantly backed away. Something in that girl’s tone said she was someone who could do exactly what she said. TiAlya smiled and called for her boyfriend through the bubble.

“Darlin? Could you fix up Foxy Boy?” TiAlya asked. “You got it, Tadpole.” Fairy GodBro replied, before frowning at his counterpart. He pointed his wand at the pumpkin that had used to be the conman, changing the hybrid back into his normal body.

“Thank you, Sugah Dumplin.” TiAlya said to her partner, who began blushing in response. YzAlya gave a look of pure disgust. “Sugar Dumplin? That’s what you call him?! God, there’s so much saccharine sweetness in this room it’s giving me a cavity.”

“Ain’t nothing wrong with a little sugar in ya life. That boy’s always there for me, and I’m always there for him. We don't need to hurt anyone to get along. I can't say the same for you.”

YzAlya brushed her off with a handwave. “HA! Just what I would expect to hear from a goody-good like you! MY Nino is the most cunning of scammers! He could swindle that little fairy of yours out of everything he’s got!”

The hybrid puffed his chest out upon hearing his darling’s words. GodBro just rolled his eyes.

“He'd turn that thief into his carriage in a second. And he doesn't even need his magic. All I had to do was give a little push, and Nino's cookin', cleanin', and fixin' things with his bare hands. Could Mr. Swiper over there do the same?” TiAlya retorted, pointing at the swindler. YzAlma sputtered and tried to come up with a comeback. “Hmph! We-well, that just PROVES how much of a fool he is! There’s no greater art than magic, only an imbecile would waste a talent for it! MY Nino could make FAR better use of that wand!”

“Well it wouldn’t work for’im. That boy doesn’t have a good bone in his body.” Alya thought to herself. The girl decided to change the subject. 

“So who are you?” TiAlya questioned. YzAlya stared at her as if she were an imbecile. She blinked rapidly and her head tilted to the side.

“Is your brain made of cheese?! I’m you, you moron!” YzAlya hissed, grinding her teeth. TiAlya rolled her eyes. “No, I mean, what makes you special? How are you any different from me?”

“I am Alya, the br-r-r-riliant soreceress supreme! Master of potions and alchemy! My genius knows no bounds!” YzAlya exclaimed, basking in the smell of her own ego.

JeanCo was watching this grandiose reaction with annoyance.

“Leave the theatrics to the professionals, sweetie” He exclaimed, as he took a sip from his drink. It… tasted a little odd. YzAlya got an incredibly creepy smile on her face, her eyes were wide as she slowly turned around. “Something wrong with your drink, prince?” She stated, sounding absolutely ecstatic as she said it. Jean frowned and tried to respond. “What did you-”

He was cut off as his body began to change. He felt himself getting taller, his skin felt… furrier. Were his ears growing?

“Ohohoho, dear sweet arrogant fool… you shouldn’t have left your drink unattended”. She said the last part in a sing-song voice. 

The transformation was complete, and Jeanco had become a llama.

“Wuh… wh…. AAAAAAHHH!!” Jeanco bleated out, running around the room and screaming their head off. “My face! My beautiful beautiful face!”

“Come on now, baby! There’s nothing wrong with having a bit of beast inside you!” Jeanatoa joked, showing off his crab-hybrid body.

Julebeast decided to comfort Jeanco, knowing what it was like to be transformed, even if she had turned into a beast instead of a llama. The villainous classmates cackled as they heard the young emperor’s repeated cries of “llama face”.  TiAlya just stared at her counterpart in horror and confusion. “H-how did ya even-”

“Extract of llama, my dear. It wasn’t poison, but it’ll ruin his day.” YzAlya giggled.

“The hell’s wrong with you?” TiAlya snapped, with her counterpart relishing in the girl’s concerned anger.

“How’s that for special!” YzAlya began cackling madly, overjoyed that she got to show off her villainous genius. She stopped laughing as she got a look at TiAlya’s worried face.

“Oh don’t worry, I’m sure your little nurse’s office has a cure for curses.” YzAlya said. “Why, you don’t even need a nurse. Isn’t it true that you can turn animals into humans with a kiss?”

“It don’t work like that, it only works with frogs. I’m not kissin a llama!” TiAlya explained.

“Hmm… maybe I can do the opposite. Yes… there’s these group of brats always thwarting my plans. I could turn them into slimy little frogs, and I wouldn’t have to waste a potion to do so! Absolutely brilliant! Genius, I say!” YzAlya cackled with glee upon cooking up another insidious plan. TiAlya decided that she had enough, and left the room. 

YzAlya went back to her foxy partner, giving him a smooch, and patting his head. “Wow…your Alya seems like she really cares about you.” Fairy GodBro said, honestly impressed with how passionate this villainous Alya was about her Nino. The hybrid couldn’t help but blush as he tried to act smug. “Yep! I'm her sly fox. What a girl. Yours ain't bad too, I mean, a bit plain, but whatevs.” Honest Nino said, in an extremely dismissive manner.

This angered the young fairy, who was quick to react. “She is NOT plain! She is one of the most passionate and dedicated people I’ve ever met.” He responded, his wings flaring up as he did so. Looking to avoid being zapped by the wand again, Honest Nino put his hands up in surrender. “Woah, take it easy, Twinkle Toes. She’s your special princess, I get it. You can be goody-goods together.” He said, avoiding his heroic counterpart’s upset glare. “But she’s got nothing on my Alya! Damn, she’s amazing. A real firecracker! She’s like a monster and a genius at the same time!”

Seeing how crazy they were for each other, Fairy GodBro decided to take his counterpart down a peg. “Well she didn’t seem very fiery a minute ago when my “plain” Alya told her to back off. I can’t blame her though, my lil’ tadpole can make ANYTHING happen if she sets her mind to it!”

Honest Nino decided to cut his losses to avoid this fairy’s wrath. He gave a shit-eating grin and offered a handshake to the GodBro. “Look, I’m not gonna try to win an argument against a dude who can turn me into a vegetable. How about we just agree that our girlfriends are awesome?”

Happy that the situation ended without another fight, Fairy GodBro happily accepted the handshake. “Sounds good to me.” Then he noticed the fox taking a peek at his wand.

“I see you eyeing my wand, don’t even try it. It won’t work for anyone who doesn’t have good in their heart.” Honest Nino grumbled and looked away from the wand. “Aw, rats.”

And that’s Alya’s crossover! This was a collab really between me and @msweebyness, who provided the dialogue (which I edited a little) for the scenes where the Alyas and Ninos simp over each other. Don’t go anywhere, because in a little bit, @msweebyness is dropping her Marinette crossover post. Then later, @artzychic27 will be showing off their Nathaniel post. I find myself rather distracted and out of the moment at times, to the point where I've been unsure if relationships are for me at all. I do know that I crave it at times though, I get lonely just like anyone else."

(N)O- "Oh I find myself perusing erotica with enough curiosity that I feel like I might be willing to try many things, I suppose the issue has always been the willingness to actually... do anything that I struggle with? A little odd that I rather enjoy all the fiction and aesthetics though. I suppose to answer your question, anything that is particularly messy would be out of the question."

(T)oy- "Ohohoho, well, in this regard I believe I have some degree of experience in. It's nice to have something at hand to help get focused, not to mention a very efficient and pleasurable way of getting to sleep faster, which I struggle with from time to time. There's actually quite a lot i've unearthed from the Sons of Saint Coinach's delves, though they tended to miscategorize them as lab equipment. Some of them are -quite- elaborate contraptions, which makes sense, given the society's end being brought about by sheer boredom in part. I've cobbled together a few recreations... and taken a few of the pieces from the Free Company's showroom... I dont think Erick would want some poor client or employee pushing one of -those- red buttons. Oh uhh.. yeah, I have many and use them.

(E)xperience: She sighs "I.... have had two partners, and not for very long. It's been a bit of an issue and usually tied to me having trouble with attraction in the moment. I often feel vulnerable or... perhaps I let my mind wander, which caused some degree of awkwardness. It can be frustrating, as I daydream from time to time, and the mood strikes me often enough that I seek out art and fiction, or the recesses of my imagination. I've mostly accepted that i'm a bit outside the norm, I suppose."

(R)isk: "I'm a little more likely to take risks in my profession that in intimacy. It's easy to dive into something dangerous and exciting when you can predict a positive end state. I have trouble picturing that with sex. I suppose I have gotten a little... well lets just say a knock on the door while i'm using said devices has led to some rather enticing daydreams? I suppose that might count as risk, getting caught?"

What is the Hell’s studio AU

Ohoho… ohohoho…. I WAS WONDERING WHEN YOU'D ASK!!

Okay, so firstly, Hell's Studio is a REALLY GOOD Bendy and the Ink Machine AU. Basically the best possible outcome where nobody dies, everyone is a good guy and happy (even if some people act otherwise) and the toons are even alive and chilling!!

It's mostly a comedy and crack treated seriously kinda AU, and for what exactly it's about, there's a masterpost by the creator right here!! It's filled with generic info and just lil' facts, although it's a bit outdated and doesn't have all of the info from this AU on there, you can just go through the hell's studio au tag on their blog.

There are also quite a few characters that aren't part of it, too, since the AU came out around Chapter 2 and 3, so obviously this AU is NOT compatible with canon- the characters all have their own designs and personalities which, while the latter of which are generally similar to canon (apart from a couple characters), are still pretty different. I like the hell's studio versions more

This AU also spawned a couple pages' worth of one-shot fanfiction and drabbles containing funny escapades of the main cast, some of which have been declared canon by the AU author, and others being fairly popular.

Of course, this also includes the most popular, non fandom crossover genfic in the fandom, which is Through a mirror, Darkly, part of the Cracked Glass fanfic series that there's no fucking way you HAVEN'T seen me talk about because holy shit. Holy F U C K

(Basically, it's a crossover fanfiction with Hell's Studio and Canon, it's SO good, with quite a bit of dark and angsty moments, but it's so charming and definitely has lax fluff too. Everyone gets trauma and then heals the trauma. If you read it and talk about it with me I will platonically marry you and this is a threat. I could talk abt this all day)

the art of this is the earliest art i did for the comic and honestly…i really DO NOT like it. this is probably my least favourite episode artistically i can’t even stand to look at it but that aside…

eliza handcuffing stefán to the desk was another thing that i came up with very early on and it’s HILARIOUS for absolutely no reason. she’s like ok i’ll help you but i’m going to make sure you don’t do anything crazy

will forever laugh at the comedic timing of the first three panels. it’s hilarious always

the funniest bit is eliza seemingly bothered by the fact he’s a murderer and then immediately following that by implying she would kill him

the second funniest bit is them just glaring at eachother constantly

in the panels of the flashback to stefán finding the news report, i had to casually make a whole new model for the background. for fun. yknow. and also it was there i decided he was going to have super long legs. that was never a part of his design before but then and there it was decided

i also made separate art + graphics for the professors ID and the news report AND that graphic that goes up when he’s like “the police don’t even know what i look like”. kind of like how they turned out

also about ^^ the picture of assassin stefán i like to think it was a PR stunt. like. who caught him looking like that? or it’s some poster someone drew to look like him. that’s my thoughts

Fun fact: before I got the mtf gender wiggle, I honestly thought I wanted to be an accountant because I was good at maths and thought it was the least terrible option.

Now, after coming out as trans, to myself, and everyone else within earshot, I feel so much more excited for the rest of my life? It's not just the, ohohoho I get to be a woman now bit. Its also the part where I go, oh wow, if I can be a woman, whats to stop me from doing design professionally? What about art? What if I also started putting time into sleeping better so I'm even more happy? What if I did this tiny thing to make myself happy?

To me, its all those tiny little things that I feel so much happier for. In my head, admitting being a trans woman was the most scary and cringe thing to possibly do.

So now I'm trans, why can't I do EVERYTHING?
