One Hundred Hours of Writing

Hey, everything seems awful, but that doesn't mean you should stop creating. Life is crushing right now, and last night I had to force myself to write. But I did write, and I felt a little better for it.

So if you need a little push to find your words, or your drawing, or your music, or whatever makes you happy...

Join us for the One Hundred Hours of Writing marathon on Twitch, starting this afternoon (7th Nov). For 100 hours straight, two hours per streamer, someone will be on screen leading writing sprints, offering advice, and otherwise encouraging you on your writing journey.

I myself will be streaming in the Saturday (9th) night prime time slot (8 pm Eastern/7 pm Central/5 pm Pacific), and I'd love it if you'd join me (I'm on Twitch as starryjen), but you can find a writing stream the whole weekend long! Nanowrimo update

As of today:

Writing schedule has held every single day. Fanfic in the morning, original in the evening/afternoon.

Currently at: 13 209 words Par: 8 333 words, so I'm waaay ahead. Almost three days actually. That feels good.

Next weekend is a writing event on twitch called OHHOW (One hundred hours of writing) that encourage anyone to try to catch if you need some body doubling when you write.

Hi, don't know if you remember me or not, but we talked when you first made the announcement that you were going on hiatus cause of harassment and you just needing a break in general.

Anyways! I just wanted to check in and ask how you're doing, and let ya know that someone out here was thinking about you and misses ya!

Oh! Thank you. I’m doing great. I just posted my fourth fic since the hiatus.

I wasn’t sure how much the break would help, but when I went to post the first one, there was no dread, no anxiety. Not like it was before at all. It was such a relief and I’m happy to be posting fic again!

Still not sure what to use this tumblr for though lol.

I’ve been spending my time with an event I help run in a discord server called the Castle Cafe. The event is for creative types to encourage all creativity including writing whole also encouraging a creativity-life balance so we’re not breaking ourselves to hit our goals. The theme for this month is called Sand and Secrets.

I’m also preparing for this weekend-OHHOW’s weekend of writing wildly. It’s fifty hours of streaming. A bunch of writing streamers on twitch take two hour streaming slots for a total of 25 streams and raid into the next on the schedule until they hit fifty hours. OHHOW is One hundred hours of writing as their event in November is one hundred hours of streaming with 50 streams.

I’m volunteering with the event. I don’t stream but there are other ways to help and I really enjoy it.

Sorry to ramble there, I’m just very excited and things are going surprisingly well this month overall!

Saw The Marvels today and loved it. Haven't laughed that much (in happiness) at a movie in theaters in a long time. Parts made me so giddy I was actually kicking my feet in geeky joy.

Then I reached 25k+ on my 2023 NaNoWriMo projects (yes, I'm writing two this time around, something "original"--it's Not A Star War--and a Jedi Survivor fanfic because I've fallen *hard* for that ginger Jedi), which may be the fastest I've ever reached the "halfway point" in my 20 years of doing NaNo. Clearly when you like what you're writing the words come faster...

Today was a pretty good day. And tomorrow I stream for the One Hundred Hours of Writing, so here's hoping that goes well too.
