Thinking just a little too hard about how Achilles and Patroclus would of been in my Kotor AU. Thinking about how they would meet when they were both so young- alone and away from their families, growing up together across the galaxy in various enclaves and temples, always together even when apart, better together, fate had willed it.

Patroclus, sweet child of woe, just on the cusp of being too old to join the Order sent crying to the enclave, exiled before he even knew why, before he even did anything wrong. He didn't want to leave his home or his family; he adored his mother but it was necessary to. It was his family's greatest honour; A force user, a powerful one at that. Anything to rid them of a child who at such a young age could be so capable of such violent acts of murder over nothing, a game. So full of feeling and emotion, too much even. All that talk of peace and harmony and serenity will do him good, better the Orders problem then theirs.

And Achilles, who knew from the moment he opened his eyes that he was destined for greatness, the son of a former council member, a Master in her own right. He never knew a day of doubt in his life, always knowing the path he had to take, predetermined for him at birth. A prophecy that would take everything from him, how cruel the fates are even to their favourite son.

Despite everything though; despite having to hide everything real and true about themselves from their so-called found families, even being a galaxy apart on missions and posting they were still inseparable- the vast eternities of space could not keep them apart for long, they were each others heart and soul, their destinies intertwined.

Everything was perfect until one day it wasn't. An age reached, A destiny met, A war that would change everything, All predetermined, all playing out as it was destined, they were all pieces on a chessboard, everything for nothing.

Achilles reached his precipice one day, too long had he waited for greatness to find him, always hungry for more, always needing more. He went from a child so full of life and the force to a figurehead, a symbol. Everything the galaxy needed, everything it would come to fear.

The war had changed them both for the worse, Achilles was never the same, always distant, somewhere else entirely. He stopped using his name in favour of his title, then stopped all together when it stopped serving him a purpose, leaving his past and everything attached to it in the dust. The pieces of his life left discarded like old toys, parts that wouldn't fit together anymore, a life that could of never been.

It would of been better if they both died that fateful day, the universe had almost willed it into existence yet they both defied their fates, spitting on destiny, dooming themselves, borrowed time. Really, sometimes its worse if you don't die, at least death sustains something.
