Contribute to Optopia - an upcoming Solarpunk Zine!

Optopia is an upcoming (single issue, for now) zine about solarpunk and eco-friendly living. The zine will be released online as a pdf (probably on issu) and will be available to read for free. And we’re looking for submissions!

What we’re looking for: basically anything that discusses climate change or our relationship to the environment, but particularly pieces with a solarpunk/optimistic attitude. We’re accepting art, essays, listicles, fiction/poetry… basically anything that can be put into a pdf! Some examples of the pieces that are already in the zine: a drawing of a future solarpunk city, an article about turning abandoned malls into public housing, a list of eco-friendly bath bomb alternatives, a reference guide for eco-friendly and fair-trade fashion brands.

Cleaning the oceans one step at a time

Two Australians created this container that collects plastic, paper, oil, fuel and detergent floating in the ocean. They want to implement it the middle of next year to clean up the sea worldwide. It seems a great idea. The only “but” as always is money, so they are raising funds to get to their goal. You can see their project and donations here.

Made a new villain the other day, named Margaret Bishop.

Storywise she's a dangerous 400 year old witch who preys on young witches for their magic & beauty. She's also been known to send some witches to either the stake or gallows. Been doing it for 400 years and no one's stopped her yet.

Was musing about character tarot cards earlier and sketched this about a week ago. Decided to finish it for a commission example on rendered work. I’m really happy how it turned out! Stained glass and its lighting is tough. Took about 6-7 hours total

This is an interest check for Gotta Catch G’em All!, a Steven Universe charity zine with a Pokemon twist. It will explore the idea of canon Steven Universe characters with Pokemon. All profits will go to a non-profit organization (organization TBD, suggestions for LGBTQ or animal welfare focused non-profits welcome).

The zine would host art (illustration and 1-2 page comics). Merchandise (postcards, pins, keychains & stickers) will also be included, if artists/designers are found willing/available.

The plan is to have about 30-35 contributors, and to have the zine available to purchase in both a digital and physical format. Contributors will get a free physical copy.

Don’t scroll past this. Kylie Armstrong was diagnosed with breast cancer and these small dimples were the only signs. She posted the image on Facebook so everyone knows that “that breast cancer is not always a detectable lump.” Here’s how Kylie is doing today.
