so, the thing about the megaflora in boscage is that, even though it’s incredibly strong, it’s not particularly smart. they’re plants after all, and so their “thoughts” mainly just consist of violence in service to obtaining food, and violence for the sake of violence. that changes when shadow shows up though.

through their shared black arms dna, the plants are able to connect with him, and they start poking around inside his brain. they see all his thoughts, all his memories, learn what he learns, know what he knows… and suddenly, the megaflora is extremely smart. smart enough to realize that having a mobile unit, not tethered to roots, and with a mouth that can speak for the collective, would be beneficial. so they smother shadow into submission. there’s just too many of them to hold back, once they decide they want him.

once he’s assimilated, they continue to learn more from him, and one thing in particular stands out: the creation of their world. through the eyes of shadow’s memory, they see sonic shatter the paradox prism, and thus, create boscage maze, and therefore the megaflora themselves. this leads the megaflora to the conclusion that their true creator is not gerald, the loathsome traitor who abandoned them, left them to starve, and now seeks to destroy them with project halcyon, but instead sonic.

the megaflora get a sort of reverence for him… “shadow” tells sonic that he forgives him for shattering the prism. tells him it was a good thing, actually. and that’s when sonic starts to clue into something being seriously wrong. frankly, he liked it more when shadow was upset with him... because at least that was really him :(

Hmm, I noticed something in the Sonic 3 Trailer in this scene:

So this is where Team Sonic lands:

- Take a look at the background

- Notice how Knuckles is on the left.

In the next shot, Shadow appears:

Cut to Team Sonic again:

Knuckles is still on the left, but the background has changed.

Shadow calls them a colorful bunch:

Cut to Team Sonic again:

Now Knuckles is on the right and Tails on the left. And the location has changed, I think?

Knuckles goes to fight Shadow and loses in exactly 5 seconds.

Then there is this shot:

And then this:

Different background. And Tails is on the left again.

Seems to me, like this whole scene in the Trailer was out of order? Any thoughts on this?

I find this kinda interesting, like obviously the prototype ultimate lifeform that's basically a horribly pain filled experiment gone wrong and is a wild and untameable creature won't feel empathy for shadow.

but honestly i think shadow does feel empathy for this creature in SOME way, but not in a way sonic would do empathy for a creature like this, he does it in his own shadowy way.

sonic x shadow generations spoilers under, if you want to experience the biolizard battle BLIND id recommend not continuing it's a great boss with so much fun dialogue :]

for him the more he got to think about this creature after defeating it so long ago, the more he felt pity toward's it.

a creature made before him being constantly tested on, never truly loved like he was by maria and gerald, a creature that needed constant life support to SURVIVE and was a constantly violent and chaotic creature and was eventually captured and kept in encapsulation for as long as shadow.

this creature never had a moment to turn it's life around like shadow did when he realized maria's true wish, it couldn't even if it tried, its mind is too angry and uncontrollable to even do that.

it's a monster, a pitifully sad and angry monster.

and shadow acknowledge's that, he KNOWS how bad it's life was, but even then he still takes it down, he'll end its suffering right here and NOW.

like he said "stop struggling, you cling to a even CRUELER fate."

is it full on empathy? no, it's surface level empathy.

he acknowledge's how tortured of a soul the biolizard is, but it's ethier it, or him in this battle, and he's gonna prove it should be him.

he wants to prove to himself after all these year's that he's still THE ultimate life form, no matter how tragic the biolizard's story IS.

which i absolutely LOVE and fits him so well.

he's still a anti-hero after all.

"sure your story is sad, but that won't stop me from putting you DOWN as the superior ultimate life form."
