tbf on my first playthrough that I didn't finish I was playing my super strict but unhinged Paladin and he could never be reasoned with to use the tadpoles because PURITY PURITY PURITY
so in that context I found Emp constantly bringing it up annoying but I didn't see it as manipulative and when he revealed himself I was still like "whoooooooa coool" and then just a mild "lmao ffs" when the game didn't acknowledge I hadn't taken a single tadpole and Emp acted like I had, said how powerful I was and offered the astral tad
I ended my first run around there because between that and Wyll being a glitched out mess at that point in Act 3, I just cba lol
it was on consecutive runs after they patched things and I internally fiddled with my Paladin to be less strict, that I got more acquainted with him as a character and found myself enjoying him
I guess my whole point is that as a player I did find the tadpole insistence annoying but I saw it as an issue with the game mechanics itself and not Emp trying to manipulate me
it never felt that way because he'd just be like "hey take the tadpole please it'll help" and I'd go "lol no" and he'd sigh and just say he understands I'm not ready and he asks again later
also very few people have done no-tadpole runs I think? so they have even less reason to complain because the tadpole thing was the only time I was like "oh my god you're so annooyyiiinngg"
and I still fucked him. he can be a little annoying if he wants

okay but why is this season of the boys such a mess. like. episodes 1 - 5 were actually pretty good (especially 4 and 5, specifically the homelander + hughie and his dad plotlines respectively in those were SO good), then ep 6 was a clusterfuck outside of butcher's stuff, and i kinda thought we were on track for something pretty okay when annie took hughie's assault seriously at the end of the episode only for it to just be brushed off this episode AND hughie gets SA'd AGAIN?????? HELLO?????

Something something it's a metaphor. Hair as a form of communication but also as passage of time and also as a way for letting people in and also as a detail etc etc you get it
Actual explanation in the tags btw
I'm really nervous about this comic actually, is not the best. It doesn't make sense, and the art is mid, but I put love in it and I think that's enough

In 1x06, when Cynthia runs off while getting ready, Lydia finds her. Not many words are exchanged. But the words we heard from their exercises have a far different meaning this time. When Lydia states your hair is brown, it’s just a fact until Cynthia gives in. Once she does, she says again her hair is brown and that’s when it becomes something else. Cynthia’s guard is down. Lydia knows what Cynthia knows, and she’s scared. She finally admits she’s scared and they both know it’s not about the play. But then, Cynthia realizes she’s not alone. Lydia says nothing but Cynthia just looks at her and recognizes, “you’re scared.” She hadn’t been sure if “rehearsing” had been to Lydia what it had been to her until now, now she knows it did. They get closer, just repeating “i’m scared/you’re scared” until Lydia looks at Cynthia, “Your hair is brown” and this final call and response is not a merely a statement and fact, it’s a confession. An acknowledgment of three truths; Cynthia’s hair is brown, they are both scared, and this is real. Cynthia repeats it back, whispers like a secret that Lydia is the only one allowed to know.
And then they kiss. Their first kiss. A real kiss that can’t be hidden behind characters or script. And for one second after, they can be happy. They giggle and cherish each others space, and then it hits.
That was real.
Cynthia can’t lie to herself anymore, she’s exposed. She knows the truth, and worse, so does Lydia. And as they both know, Cynthia is scared. So she runs.

i know ive said this exact same thing ten thousand times before but it actually boggles my mind that we have just sort of accepted "generational divides" and the resulting discourse. generations are not real on the population scale. there is no dividing year where one generation starts and the next begins. the closest you can get to this is specifically BABY BOOMERS. who were born during the BABY BOOM. because a huge large amount of people had children immediately following the second world war. thats it. since then there has not been another clear generational divide and the things you think are clear divides are probably divides between specifically your age demographic and specifically your parents age demographic. because that's what a generation actually is when we stop trying to form stupid little clubs. im no longer participating in the legitimization of these terms & if i see the word zoomer one more time i'll detonate the explosives
