Time for my yearly art style check up by drawing Cassius - again! I decided to start shading and rendering my references, and I'm quite pleased with myself this time round!

Dragons Dogma AU with Arisen!Cassius and Pawn!Dubhain.

It's my personal headcanon that as an Arisen lives on, they gradually gain features of the dragon due to their connection with it (as if becoming less humam). Soo ooooooo sexy dragon eyes for Cassius!

Meanwhile, a Pawn slowly gains human qualities as they learn about the world and genuinely become people rather than unfeeling puppets that wear a facade. (Dubhain's smiling for the first time in this comic for example, teehee)

2023 is the year of tackling backgrounds and doing illustrations of all sorts. I started this one in early December, so this was a treat to finally get finished.

After a young witch named Abigail's grandmotherly mentor falls ill and takes up residency in Vitaliel's Hall of Healing, it leads Abigail to brave the Celestial Ascent with the party, to find divine ingredients to make a Longevity Potion -which would age back her mentor by ten years.

But Cassius, knowing what lies in the Ascent and the possible consequences for treading on sacred ground, gently consoles Abigail in her grief...knowing all too well, what it's like to feel helpless in the face of sadness after tragedy befalls a loved one. And how a child should not have to carry such a weight on her shoulders, especially at such a young age.

Wanting to become an artist who draws sexy hands starts with actually drawing them [sigh]. But I feel like hand visuals are fun for storytelling, so I drew Cassius'!

So, about my isometric token fixation...what if we gave our characters different poses and magical effects?

Zerachiel's restored divine form. Towering above mortals at fifteen feet, many of the murals of old hint at what Zerachiel's form was before he took the form of a man himself.

Some fabric practice, and a particularly comfortable Cassius.

Face studies of Henry Cavill, but make them Cassius LaCroix. I love this man.

The Helm of Zerachiel the Protector.

The Archangels of Noctlem, donned upon masks. Acting ad the faceless guardians and rulers of the realm. As the Church truly does not have only one face to represent them, and as an symbolic act to seperate them as divinity.

It’s been ages since Cassius last put upon his mask, but the regalia was surely impressive back in the day!
