Prompts for today are "Haunted (Scary)" and "Mercy." Haven't drawn Void in this context in a long, long time! Waaay back in his original story, The Tapesty of Horror, he was possessed by a malicious ghost- Revenant- that would hide in his shadow use his body to kill people. Occasionlly, Void was able to assert himself enough to prevent Revenant from doing this, thereby granting his victims mercy, though in the process of fighting his possessor he also damaged his own soul. Void has become more of a stand-alone mascot character in the years since, but here's old Rev again just for fun.

That said, I may or may not have started a tentative Pinterest board while I get more of a mental image for how I want this character and his aesthetic to come together—with some enabling and awesome feedback from my wife, there’s a good possibility I’ll be including his character in an ongoing novel idea I’ve been developing on and off for the last couple years (more on that at a later time)!

If nothing else, I’ll be developing him individually into his own entity that, as tumblr tradition demands, I play around with like a doll.

What I can tell you as of right now is that his name is Void, and he is not human—shocker I know—but is part of a largely unknown race called Sirens. They are essentially sentient, humanoid galaxies that are said to be as old as the universe itself.

Native Canon: The Tapestry of Horror

Aaaah Void; easily the oldest character featured during this trip through my various queer head children. And if someone who was around for the OCT called The Tapestry of Horror happens to find this post, they would probably be confused by Void's inclusion here. Believe it or not, though, him being intersex is not a retcon- I intended that to be canon from the beginning, and even wrote a short story that made it all but explicit. At the time one of the OCTs mods talked me out of it on the grounds that "if there isn't a point to it, you shouldn't do it" when I admitted that it wasn't relevant to the plot of Void's story. And while these days I would not accept that argument, because queer characters are allowed to exist without their queerness being a plot point, it's probably for the best that nineteen year old me wasn't trying to write an intersex character because chances are it would've been fairly poorly handled. Still, Void was always intended to be this way, and I still consider it canon and always have.
