Beautiful, black-eyed Nyx, cloaked in darkness, older than old, daughter of misty Chaos, mother of great and mighty spirits, I call to you. Ever-present one, you live in the shadows; we know you in the dusk, in the comfort of the night. Broad-winged Nyx, you clasp the hand of bright Hemera, each eve and morn, you greet her with love and sorrow for only in those moments may you embrace your child. Goddess, awesome one, in your realm are we all unblemished, in your realm do lovers’ promises ring true, in your realm are all things possible, if only until daybreak. Nyx, I honor you.
Small prayer
“Nyx, mother of the night, mother of sleep, mother of death: Might your darkness embrace me Might your energy caress me Might you be mine and Might I be yours Blessed be.“
In general
O ancient Goddess, born of Chaos and steeped in shadow, I honor you now and always. With eyes which have watched the beginnings of all that is, see us now embracing your sleep and mystery. With power that strikes fear into the hearts of the most revered of Gods,
I remember your strength when I am searching for my own. In the starless night where light shines not i will give my thanks to your Greatness, And surrender to the dark.

Tbh the fact you can scare Zeus away with freaky goth baddies is canon.
Like what if Odysseus just brought out/called up Nyx and her goth little ensemble? What if he just happened to find an army, or just a group of nice goth women who decided to help the dude see his wife? Zeus would simply sob into oblivion since he now is too scared to touch Odysseus

Lyssa
So a while back I’ve watched an adaptation of Euripides Heracles on YouTube, I found Lyssa and her interaction with Iris pretty interesting, since their personalities are the exact opposite of what one would expect of the goddess of madness and the goddess of the rainbow. One might expect Iris to be sweet and friendly yet in this play she’s bloodthirsty and cruel, excitedly fulfilling her Queen’s orders like a supervillain’s henchman. One would expect Lyssa to be mad and more than happy to share her madness and suffering with others, yet in the play she’s well spoken, gentle, and seemingly hates her job.
I was partially inspired by that crying girl from CSM for her expression and that bit of dialogue is inspired by a scene from The Amazing Digital Circus.

Nyx's Veil 🌌🍹
Embrace the profound darkness and the mysterious allure of the goddess Nyx with the Nyx's Veil cocktail. Crafted as a devotional act to the primordial goddess of the night, this drink captures the essence of her in every sip. Each ingredient is chosen to honor her power and beauty, making this a perfect offering to prepare at midnight, the hour when Nyx reigns supreme.
Ingredients and Their Connection to Nyx:
1 1/2 oz Gin: Gin represents clarity amidst the darkness, a nod to Nyx's role as the mother of Aether (Brightness) and Hemera (Day). It symbolizes the balance between night and day, light and shadow.
1 oz Blackberry Liqueur: The deep, dark hue of blackberry liqueur reflects the inky blackness of the night sky that Nyx envelops the world in. The liqueur's rich, slightly sweet flavor mirrors the hidden depths and mysteries that she embodies.
1 oz Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds a sharp, tart contrast to the drink, representing the sharpness and precision with which Nyx controls the night. It also honors her as a protector, with citrus symbolizing purification and protection from unseen forces.
1/2 oz Blue Curaçao: The vibrant blue of curaçao evokes the twilight sky as it fades into night. Its color and subtle bitterness are a tribute to the dusk that heralds Nyx's arrival each evening, as she cloaks the world in darkness.
Edible Black Glitter: The black glitter sprinkled on top is a reflection of the stars that Nyx scatters across the night sky. It’s a reminder of the cosmic beauty she creates, even in the deepest of shadows.
Candied Moon Slice: The candied moon slice represents the lunar cycle, which Nyx governs alongside her daughter, Selene, the goddess of the moon. It’s a sweet homage to her influence over the celestial bodies.
Instructions:
Mix: In a shaker, combine the gin, blackberry liqueur, and lemon juice with ice. Shake well, channeling your devotion to Nyx with each movement.
Strain: Strain the mixture into a glass, visualizing the dark liquid as the night sky forming under Nyx's command.
Layer: Carefully layer the blue curaçao on top, representing the transition from day to night as Nyx’s veil of darkness takes over.
Sprinkle: Add a sprinkle of edible black glitter to give the drink a touch of celestial magic, like stars twinkling in the night.
Garnish: Finish with a candied moon slice for a lunar tribute, acknowledging Nyx’s connection to the moon and the night.
Ritual: Prepare Nyx’s Veil at the stroke of midnight, the hour when Nyx’s power is at its peak. As you sip, reflect on the mysteries of the night and offer your thoughts to the goddess in gratitude. This act of devotion not only honors Nyx but also connects you to the timeless power she wields over the night.

A god to consider: Nyx 🌚🪶
Tumblr media
Lady Nyx, the primordial, ancient goddess of the night and of darkness itself, one of the protogenoi, daughter of Chaos, is one of the gods of the underworld. A premordial Cthonic deity, She is the mother of the daemons, as well as the mother of sleep, death, and pain. Referred to as “the subduer of gods and men” She is one of, if not the single most intimidating god, so terrifying in her cadence in fact, that Zeus himself was once in terrified awe of her power. She bore nearly all of her children through immaculate conception, these children being some of the most fearsome gods of Hellen, including but not limited to: Hypnos, Thanatos, Nemesis, the Morae, and the Daemons. She is the mother of death, the mistress of dreams, the personification of night. She is Nyx, learn her name.
If you wish to learn more about Nyx, consider the sources below. If you wish to learn about more gods of Hellen, please consider giving my blog a follow! I lost daily. Blessed be your day! 💙🏛️💙

Mother Night
Guess who finally showed up in a dream and I now have an appearance for. It was a very brief appearance, but an appearance nonetheless. I don’t remember every single detail, as is the nature of dreams. But I definitely remember dark curly hair, the veil robe, and dark lips. So I found a reference for those types of robes and gave her a family resemblance to her sons.
