Emerie nodded in understanding. “She’ll do great. And so will you.”

Gwyn blinked in surprise. “Oh no… I’m not here to train!”

“Why not?”

“I’m not a warrior–” Gwyn began, as she glanced around at the other females who clearly were.

“Neither were we,” Nesta interjected firmly. “I could hardly walk up a flight of stairs without panting when I first started.”

Gwyn raised an eyebrow sceptically. “Really? You look so strong...”

Nesta chuckled. “I was a mess when I began. It took time and effort, but I got there. You will too, if you want it.”

Gwyn hesitated, glancing at the training ring filled with focused, disciplined females. She certainly felt like she had a lot of pent-up energy to expend, but she was so weak. It would take years to catch up. And not being the best at something was her greatest fear. “I wouldn’t even know where to begin!”

“It’s mostly just breathing and footwork for the first couple of months,” Emerie countered with a reassuring smile. “We take it slow. But, you’d be surprised how much progress you can make with just the basics.”

“Breathing and footwork,” Gwyn repeated, her mind racing with the possibility. She looked over at Juno, who was now animatedly talking with Nyx, their broodiness disappearing with the departure of adult supervision.

If her daughter was brave enough to start this new journey, meet new people, then maybe she could too. This was their home now.

Nesta reached out, placing a hand on Gwyn’s arm. “We’d be happy to have you, if you’re interested. No pressure, but think about it. Sometimes, the hardest part is just taking that first step.”

Gwyn took a deep breath, the decision forming in her mind. She wanted to set a good example for her daughter, to show her that it was never too late to learn something new, to become stronger. With one firm nod, she committed herself. “Okay. Sign me up.”

I'm gonna share my switched au with you 😤 namely the first half of it !!! (since ik Nyx has written a little bit of the second half so I'm gonna keep the details of that more of a secret hehe)

The premise of the switched au is more or less swapping the plots/ideas of the two seasons! So the odyssey dads get a teen coming of age adventure and the kiddads have to go on a rescue mission through Faerun to save their kids (the s2 teens but a little bit younger)!!

I came up with this AU a long time ago and obviously didn't know how season 2 would play out so the odyssey dads adventure goes a LOT more off the script and I think its a lot of fun tehehe

It starts off with Darryl, Glenn, Ron, and Mercedes (shes a main character here 😤) being put together for a group project on a field trip, and accidentally getting sucked through a portal to Faerun! Simultaneously, Hen has decided to run away from Oakvale and has JUST managed to sneak outside of the borders when BAM a bunch of inter dimensional teens show up.

They don't exactly get off on the best foot at first, I actually drew Hen and Mercedes first meeting here bc its SO FUN LOL but eventually Hen agrees to help them find a way back home (leaving out the fact that it's because he's on the run from HIS home.)

I came up with teenage Hen's personality before I got a taste of it in the liveshow but I was ON CLOUD NINE when we found out his canon personality specifically because of this au LMAO EMO TEEN HEN IS CANON NOW BABEYYYY

He's also like, freshly cracked egg in the sense that he's just realized he's trans so it's very fun thinking about how Mercedes (who's already socially transitioned) helps him out :3c In general hencedes is so damn cute in this AU !!!!! She's the first one to crack his moody broody persona by making him laugh himself silly over a dumb pun she made.

Also find Hen and Glenn's dynamic to be fucking hilarious. Bros will be bros who kick absolute ass and smoke weed together and maybe kiss sometimes. Yk all things you do with the homies 😎

There's just SO DAMN MUCH within this AU even with it being split into two parts I feel like I can't get into it all without this post being a mile long LMAO but all the other (future) spouses are involved even Terry Sr., the main villain is Bear'ry BUT Willy IS ALSO THERE. Because he died when Ron was in middle school and he's in highschool in this ! So while he's not AS powerful as in canon he's still definitely a problem they have to deal with.

The part I enjoy the most in this half of the au though is DEFINITELY the group dynamics. It's delightful 🥺 I know I've mostly talked about Henry's relationships but that's cause I'm biased LMAO there's a lot of other stuff going on like Ron bonding with Samantha and Terry over the phone in another dimension and Morgan forming a club to search for the missing teens because she's realized no one is giving a fuck about Ron and Glenn, there's the whole thing with Darryl and Carol being soo early in their relationship and having this massive distance put between them, not even mentioning TEENAGE JODIE.... THERE'S SO MUCH.

But if I were to simplify it down to the main five group dynamic, it's Ron saying he's kinda hungry and Darryl goes to grab some of their rations, Glenn is holding a piece of bread and Hen is using his flaming sword to toast it while Mercedes is making a special jam recipe with some random magic forest berries and Darryl comes back to this all and goes OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING ???!?!????

Since I'm new over here, purrhaps some introductions are in order? I'm Nyxe, and I've been making derpy screenshots for my main, Phae, since HW! I started out as a pink-haired miqo on Insta, but several dozen fantasias later, Phae's "true" form is definitely midlander hyur.

Phaemera - Leviathan - Primal

Birth name: Fhlae Mercer (yuck?)

Hails from a rich merchant family in Ishgard, youngest of four children (twin brothers are the eldest, one older sister). Disgusted by their cutthroat techniques and willingness to do anything to get ahead, and aware of the disdain from other families in Ishgard (who merely tolerate the Mercers because of their effectiveness), Phae left home at a young age to make her own way in the world. She hasn't spoken to them since, and avoids any attempts to find her. To her annoyance, Rowena seems to know both Phae's family and true name.

Natural white hair and blue-green eyes, tendency to dye hair pink. Known to change names, eye and hair colors to suit her mood, or to avoid attention. Sometimes disguises herself as other races entirely. Adept at appearing boringly average when called for, but prefers to let her personal tastes shine.

As a teenager, she was caught trying to pickpocket a member of the Rogue's Guild in Limsa Lominsa and subsequently taken under their wing. While she has come far and learned many other trades since then, she does not forget her roots, and still considers the Guild to be family. Became a Machinist out of respect for Stephanivien's vision and willingness to break from his family's tradition, as well as admiration for the Admiral. Became a Dark Knight at a low point in her life, stuck with it to harness the powers of darkness in a positive manner so that others need not walk the path of shadow.

Embraced the Warrior of Light mantle readily, and welcomes the title of Lightbringer. She considered it a chance to do the most good in the world, even if she knows at times the legend is far more impressive than reality. Feels it's important for the people to have a symbol to look up to; her affinity for stars and celestial themes stems from this, and a wish to be a "light in the darkness."

Easily bored, slightly absentminded, always restless. Zero respect for authority unless earned, speaks her mind with little regard for the consequences. Hates fake or formal people. Outwardly optimistic, spontaneous and easygoing, with a desire to see the best in people that sometimes borders on irrational. Inwardly less cheerful and naive, but still maintains a desire to believe in others. Despite her empathetic nature, she has trouble getting close to others and only has a handful of close friends. Sullen and moody at times; on these occasions, she withdraws to a number of "hiding places" to clear her mind. As her family rose to power with no regard to whom they stepped on, Phae desires to leave things better than she finds them, in whatever minor ways she can. Rarely stays in one place for long.

“You’re an idiot, you know?”

“Shut up,” Nyx groaned, pulling the thin hospital blanket over his head. Everything hurt. Well, mostly it was his head that hurt — a terrible, piercing throb that made him want to bury himself under a mound of blankets and pass out until it was over. The mattress dipped as someone, presumably Crowe since she was the one currently berating him, sat on the bed. Nyx resisted the urge to whine like a child. He knew for a fact that he was lying down on the bed, not moving at all, but still he felt dizzy as if the world around him was spinning uncontrollably. A hand squeezed his shoulder. It was comforting, a welcome distraction from the pain. Nyx leaned into the touch.

“You are an idiot,” Crowe repeated. There was no real heat behind the words this time, only worry. Nyx would have frowned if his head hadn’t felt like it was on the brink of exploding. “You know better than to let yourself hit stasis like that!”

Nyx muttered something incoherent in response. It had been an accident. He hadn’t exactly meant to push himself that far but he had been too deep in his head, in his memories, to notice the warning signs before it had been too late. Crowe was right to call him an idiot. “Sorry.”

Crowe huffed. Nyx felt her shift on the bed and then the blanket was tugged down from his face. Nyx made a small, disgruntled noise at it but then Crowe was brushing stray hair away from his face and planting a kiss on his forehead. “You need to be more careful. We don’t want to lose you Nyx.”

Nyx sighed and braved the light of day as he peeled his eyes open. At some point someone must have pulled the blinds and dimmed the lights because he could keep his eyes open without feeling the sharp, jagged pain that had burned him the last time he had made the mistake of opening his eyes in broad daylight. Nyx reached for Crowe’s hand half blindly because he didn’t want to move his head. “You’re not going to get rid of me that easily, you guys will be stuck with me for a long time.”

Crowe’s lips twitched into a brief smile. “I’ll hold you to that.”

Nyx gave her a small smile back before he closed his eyes again. The light, even as little of it as there was, still hurt his eyes. “Did you talk to the doc?”

“They’ll discharge you in a few hours if you don’t take a turn for the worse,” Crowe told him. She moved again and Nyx felt her lie down next to him, their arms touching. Nyx smirked and offered no complaints even with how cramped the bed was with them both on it. Ever since the day Nyx had met Crowe, the woman had operated on the ‘what’s your is mine’ mentality — which apparently extended to hospital beds now as well. Nyx didn’t mind though, not when it meant he didn’t have to be alone there. Hospitals sucked.

“You’ll probably have at least one week off work, maybe two,” Crowe continued. “Lib called Cor and he’ll be waiting for you at home. He would come here but he has to make some arrangements so he can take the next few days off to keep an eye on your disastrous ass.”

“You’re the disaster,” Nyx muttered petulantly in response.

Crowe laughed. “Says the one who’s in a hospital bed with a bad concussion.”

“Shut up.”

Around three hours later, Crowe pulled up at Nyx’s house. Nyx was sitting on the passenger seat, wearing one of Libertus’ old hoodies with the hood pulled deep over his head to shield his eyes from the sunlight. He looked far from a top soldier at that moment. Crowe had told him he looked more like a moody teenager and Nyx had made to smack at her, only to miss because he couldn’t actually see much with the hood over his eyes.

“Cor is walking to the car, he’ll be opening your door in a moment,” Crowe said. “I’ll have to take the car back to the Citadel but I’ll be back later with Lib and dinner.”

Nyx hummed in response and tried not to twitch when the door on his side was opened.

“Thanks for bringing him home,” Cor said, his voice a low rumble. Crowe must have told him about the noise sensitivity. Nyx appreciated it. “Do you need help walking inside?”

“No problem. And he does,” Crowe said before Nyx could even open his mouth. “His balance is all screwed up, he’ll just faceplant if you let him try on his own.”

“You’re such a menace,” Nyx told her and pulled the hood back just enough to send a weak glare at her.

“You know I’m right.” She sounded incredibly pleased with herself.

“Children,” Cor said pointedly. “As much as I enjoy the bickering, I believe the doctor’s orders were for Nyx to rest and I don’t think this car is the right place for it.”

“Good luck with that,” Crowe muttered. Nyx smacked her in the arm — actually hitting his target this time — and Crowe just laughed at him. “I really need to get going, though, I didn’t really ask for permission when I took the car.”

“Of course you didn’t,” Cor said and Nyx just knew he was rolling his eyes. “If you get in any trouble over this, let me know and I’ll clear it up with the right people.”

Nyx tuned out Crowe’s response as he slowly started maneuvering his legs out of the car. His head didn’t enjoy the movement at all and a groan slipped from Nyx’s lips as his headache intensified. He hated concussions from the bottom of his heart. He leaned his head against the headrest, already dreading the walk into the house.

“Let me help you,” Cor told him softly. Nyx sighed and gave him a tiny nod, not wanting to speak. That was all Cor needed as he reached into the car, his hand sliding under Nyx’s arm and behind his back. It took a minute, maybe two, but soon they had Nyx upright. He leaned heavily against Cor, his eyes screwed tightly shut as he tried to breathe through the pain and rising nausea. The dizziness wasn’t doing him any favors. Cor and Crowe exchanged a few more words but Nyx was too busy feeling miserable to pay attention to what was said. Then the car door was closed and Nyx heard it back out from the driveway.

“You ready to go inside?” Cor asked.

Nyx leaned his head against Cor’s shoulder and groaned. He wanted to go inside and lay down in his bed but that would require him to actually walk there and he wasn’t a fan of that. Staying outside wasn’t an option either, though. “I don’t really have a lot of options…”

“I could always carry you,” Cor suggested.

“Only if you want me to throw up on you.” Nyx scoffed, followed by a moan when it jarred his head. “Let’s just walk. I can do this.” If the last part sounded more like he was trying to reassure himself, Cor didn’t mention it.

They slowly made their way towards the house. Cor kept the pace slow, not rushing Nyx at all. Nyx felt embarrassed by the whole thing but there was no way he could walk faster or without the support from Cor. The biggest problem came with the porch steps. Nyx wanted to just sink to the ground and stay there, his bed be damned. He was hurting and miserable, he would be fine on the grass, it was a warm day. Cor didn’t let him though. He basically carried Nyx up the steps and to the door.

“Watch your step with the threshold,” Cor murmured softly as he opened the door for them and helped Nyx inside. Nyx, to his credit, didn’t trip on the threshold even with his eyes tightly closed.

“Daddy!”

Nyx winced at Prompto’s excited shout. It sent a sharp spike of pain through his head and Nyx buried his head into Cor’s shoulder with a groan. He loved Prompto but his concussed brain didn’t love how loud the boy could be at times. Small arms wrapped around Nyx’s waist, a head pressing into his hoodie in a hug. Nyx lowered one of his hands into the soft mop that was Prompto’s hair. His voice had a rough edge to it and it lacked its usual enthusiasm but he still made a point to smile at the boy as he greeted him, “Hi, buddy.”

Prompto took a deep breath, one that Nyx knew meant he was about to excitedly share any and all interesting things that had happened during the day. There was a sinking feeling in Nyx’s gut but Cor took control of the situation before Prompto could get started. “Prom, kiddo, do you remember what we talked about earlier?”

There was a pause, and Prompto hugged Nyx tighter before taking a step back. Under the hood, Nyx caught a tiny glimpse of a worried look on the boy’s face. “That- that daddy’s hurt and we need to be quiet so we don’t hurt him… did I hurt daddy?”

Nyx's heart clenched at the anxious tone in Prompto’s voice. He could never handle it when Prompto was upset. He carefully reached forward to ruffle the boy’s head. “You didn’t hurt me, I promise.”

“You should still keep your voice down from now on, okay, bud?” Cor told Prompto. “Maybe you can cuddle with daddy when we get him to bed, cuddle him back to health?”

“Cuddles?” Prompto asked, his eyes widening with hope as he looked at Nyx.

Nyx nodded, even at the risk of his head hurting. “I would like that. Why don’t you go and change into your comfy cactuar PJs and meet us in our bedroom?”

The boy gave them both a bright smile before turning on his heels and sprinting in the direction of his room. Nyx smiled softly as he sagged against Cor. He wanted to kiss him for coming up with the idea and distracting Prompto to keep him from worrying. “You’re the best.”

“You should lie down,” Cor told him, pressing a small kiss on Nyx's temple. Nyx closed his eyes, melting into Cor’s arms. Cor’s chest rumbled with a quiet laugh. “Let’s get you into bed.”

Nyx made a small noise in agreement and let Cor guide him into their bedroom. The moment he lay down, he sunk into the mattress with a pleased sigh. He had somehow forgotten just how soft and comfortable it was. Cor chuckled at him and wordlessly set on getting Nyx out of his shoes.

“I love you,” Nyx murmured, his voice low. Cor was really going above and beyond for him, doing all of this without any complaints. He had even taken some days off work if Crowe was right. Nyx didn’t deserve him.

Cor dropped Nyx’s shoes onto the floor and sat on the edge of the bed. He took Nyx’s hand in his and leaned forward to kiss him. “I love you too. Do you need anything — water, painkillers?”

“I’m fine.” Nyx shook his head a tiny bit. “I’m sorry… for this. I should’ve been more careful. You don’t have to stay to take care of me, I know you have work.”

Cor sighed. He pulled away from Nyx for a moment. There was a shuffling sound and Nyx belatedly realized it was Cor shrugging off his jacket and taking off his shoes. Then the bed shifted again as Cor climbed over him. Nyx frowned softly in confusion but then hands snaked under his shoulders and he was pulled against Cor’s side. “Of course I’m going to stay you dumbass. You’re more important.”

“I’m still sorry,” Nyx said. It had been idiotic to push himself that far, especially in traininig. He knew better than that. He needed to pay attention and mind his limits so this didn’t happen again. It had just hit him hard. In a few days, he would have lived yet another year without Selena at his side. All because he had failed to save her. The realization had made him push himself hard, too hard, to the point at which he had hit stasis while still in mid-air.

Cor ran his fingers through Nyx’s hair, soft and gentle, bringing Nyx back to the present. “Don’t be. Yes, maybe you should have been more careful but I know this is a tough time for you. It’s okay. Try to get some rest.”

“Papa? Daddy?”

Nyx turned his head towards the doorway where Prompto was standing. He had changed into PJs and even had his favorite chocobo plushie in his arms as he looked at Nyx and Cor unsurely. Nyx opened his arms. “Come here, buddy.”

Prompto seemed to hesitate a moment but then he dashed across the floor and climbed onto the bed. He crawled straight into Nyx’s arms and buried his face in his neck. “I love you, daddy.”

“I love you too, Sunshine,” Nyx murmured into Prompto’s hair, rubbing his hand along Prompto’s back. “Are you going to help me feel better?”

Prompto nodded. He pulled back from the hug, sitting on his knees next to Nyx as he looked at the chocobo in his hands. “Mr. Feathers wanted to come too. He’s soft an’ good at cuddling.”

Nyx’s heart just about exploded from the cuteness overload right there and then. He opened his arms for Prompto again and the boy snuggled against his side with Mr. Feathers between them. There they were, their small family of three — plus Mr. Feathers — cuddling on the bed. It didn’t take long for Nyx to fall asleep.

Viktor

Conrad: Oh he’d be up for some gambles! But much like Azul he isn’t fan of games he has no control over, and enjoys finding ways he can tip the odd in his favor. After all he’s sure Viktor isn’t playing fair either. So he wouldn’t jump right into it, would watch him first since he’s interesting. I could see them having a mutual beneficial alliance or a kind of hushed rivarly!

Tink: Thinks Viktor is weird but harmless. I mean, he seems friendly enough! And it’s not like the rest of his dorm is normal. That does make him more fun than the other dorm leaders though. He’d think the stitches are like a fashion thing or something. 

Krok: Finds him pretty but feels something off about Viktor. In particular the odd smell he can sense sometimes around him... he’d give it some thought but as long as he isn’t a threat he won’t talk about it. Shady people are a dime a dozen in this school and Conrad is smarter than him, so he usually doesn’t need to say anything.

Salem:

Conrad: So tempted to do the “psppspsps” thing to him. But waits until Lucius or another cat is around so he can have plausible deniability that it totally wasn't aimed at Salem. Thinks Salem’s really good at magic and wouldn’t be above asking him for advice on it.

Tink: They’d get along like cat and dog- dfgdfg ok no. Tink thinks Salem is a bit too stuck up, or would comment how he’s too full of himself. But look who’s talking. Self awareness? He doesn’t know her. Has been tempted to grab Salem’s tail before but got caught before he could.

Krok: He wants to touch the cat ears so badly. He won’t, that’s rude, but he still stares. Doesn’t approach Salem but stares at his cat ears and tail. He finds them so cute he would just eat him up! Perhaps literally

Nyx:

Conrad: The kid unnerves him at first. He’s used to dealing with people younger than him but there’s just something not quite right there. Would be interested in that mystery but also just feel bad for the kid. It’s the big bro instinct... and just plain curiosity.

Tink: He doesn’t like Nyx since he changes so often. Sometimes he’s fun to be around, then boring, the just insufferable. Tink doesn’t know what his deal and isn’t interested. Kids these days smh. 

Krok: He often carries candy with him so he’d be willing to share some with Nyx. Thinks he’s just a moody kid. Being teenager is hard. Smells something weird around him too but just lumps it on the “#teenthings” corner.

Action Comics #1009 takes a moment to assess the damage caused by Leviathan as Superman, Lois, Jimmy, and Waller try to put the pieces together in the Fortress of Solitude. More inventive use of Superman’s x-ray vision from Steve Epting and Brad Anderson.

Amazing Spider-Man #18 continues “Hunted” unveiling the Kraven-bots and plan for rich folks to hunt the animal-themed villains (and Spider-Man), but not exactly why. This one also falls into the clichéd trap of bringing back obscure z-list characters only to kill them in order to show the stakes. I’m kind of getting tired of that, but otherwise this is still entertaining. Great art from Humberto Ramos, Victor Olazaba, Edgar Delgado, and Erick Arciniega.

Avengers: No Road Home #7 takes us inside Spectrum’s worries and fears about what she’s becoming as the team tries to prevent Nyx from reclaiming the shards. It really feels like the entire creative team have been stepping up their game these past few issues, but as Paco Medina and Jesus Aburtov take over the art reins again this issue, it feels like the bar has been raised again. Beautiful artwork.

Bad Luck Chuck #1 is an entertaining and unique debut from Lela Gwenn, Matthew Dow Smith, Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Frank Cvetkovic. It stars Charlene Manchester, a seeming walking disaster, who has started up a business for the chaos her mere presence causes. It’s different, there’s some nice incidental humour and a hook for a broader story involving an insurance investigator tailing her, all with some wonderful art from Smith and Fitzpatrick.

Batgirl #33 is pretty heavy as Babs deals with James being released. Great work all around from Mairghread Scott, Elena Casagrande, Scott Godlewski, John Kalisz, and Andworld Design really delivering on the heightened emotions Babs is going through with the release of her serial killer brother. Particularly the switch between blue and red washes Kalisz uses when Babs confronts her father.

Black Hammer: Age of Doom #9 continues through this bleak new world where almost everyone has forgotten who they were and there’s apparently a lot of gay panic, on Earth and Mars. It’s rather disturbing. Dean Ormston and Dave Stewart deliver some great moody art.

Black Science #39 gives us a heartfelt and humorous reunion, possibly one of the final good moments before the series is going to pivot to the end. I get the feeling that Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera, Moreno Dinisio, and Rus Wooton are going to put us through hell reading the final arc, so this bit of happiness with some funny stories and at least a bit of retribution, is great to see.

Coda #10 is huge as Si Spurrier, Matías Bergara, Michael Doig, and Jim Campbell work through some of the truth of what’s been driving this entire story. It’s damn good, with some of the best storytelling in comics right now.

Crimson Lotus #5 is one of two finales this week for a Hellboy universe mini-series, seeing the end to John Arcudi, Mindy Lee, Michelle Madsen, and Clem Robins’ tale of Crimson Lotus’ early days. I’ve loved the set up for Dai and Shengli in this series and definitely would not be averse to seeing more, there’s a nice feel of pulp action and mystery from a different perspective than what we’ve seen in Lobster Johnson. Also, there’s a great surprise appearance.

Daredevil #3 is proving that Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Sunny Gho, and Clayton Cowles’ excellent first two issues are no fluke, “Know Fear” is easily shaping up to be one of the best Daredevil stories in decades. There’s a wonderful depth and complexity to the characters, the tension of a broken and beaten Daredevil coming into conflict with the police is taut, there are some amazing surprises, and the art is phenomenal.

Dial H for Hero #1 is some ridiculous fun from Sam Humphries, Joe Quinones, and Dave Sharpe. We’re introduced to the new guardian of the H Dial, Miguel, an average boy forced to work his Uncle’s Mayo Madness food truck after what’s possibly the death of his parents (it’s not made explicit, so something else could have happened), searching for another thrill after being saved by Superman. Quinones’ art is one of the main drawing factors, with an incredible shift in style during the hero portion, both he and Humphries do an incredible job poking fun at the approach.

Doctor Strange #12 reunites Mark Waid and Barry Kitson for part one of “Herald Supreme” as a pushy, obnoxious alien steamrolls Strange in an attempt to stop Galactus from destroying his homeworld. It’s weird to see Strange brought low again so soon after the first arc, along with the destruction of all of the magic his artifacts house, but it is an interesting predicament he finds himself in struggling to stop Galactus from devouring the mystic planes.

The Flash #67 builds off of last issue’s Rogues spotlight on the Trickster and the previous sub-plot of Commander Cold’s investigation as Joshua Williamson, Scott Kolins, Luis Guerrero, and Steve Wands kick off part one of “The Greatest Trick of All”. Kolins reminds us why he’s one of the best Flash artists of the past few decades amidst a story that is bizarrely happy.

The Forgotten Queen #2 reveals more of War-Monger’s history, as she navigates the possibility of feelings of love for what seems to be the first time. Really intriguing character-building here from Tini Howard, Amilcar Pinna, Ulises Arreola, and Jeff Powell.

Friendo #5 concludes with what feels like one of the weirdest interpretations of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I’ve ever read. The horror story of rampant consumerism mixed with reality television comes to a head as Leo finally gets his Action Joe action figure in possibly the most extreme way. Alex Paknadel, Martin Simmonds, Dee Cunniffe, and Taylor Esposito end this wild ride on a high note.

Go-Bots #5 is the incredible end to what has been an excellent series reinterpreting the Go-Bots by Tom Scioli. It started as a relatively normal interpretation of the property, working well with nostalgia while still presenting a unique rumination on free will and robot ethics, then elevated into all out insanity pushing the Go-Bots in new and frightening directions as the bots took over. This final issue explores that post-apocalypse further and cleverly seeds the idea that the Go-Bots were the progenitors to the Transformers.

Hellboy and the BPRD: 1956 #5 is the other conclusion in the Hellboy universe this week, detailing a bit more of Hellboy’s time in Mexico, particular after Esteban’s death and he was filming wrestling movies. There’s some wonderful character moments as he laments Esteban’s loss and the even more personal loss of his best friend and dog, Mac. It also underlines Bruttenholm’s lack of soft skills and empathy, not noticing either Margaret and Archie’s romance or how bad Hellboy is hurting emotionally right now. Great work from Mike Mignola, Chris Roberson, Mike Norton, Michael Avon Oeming, Yishan Li, Dave Stewart, and Clem Robins.

Invaders #3 adds more fuel to the fire with an uncaring American military moving forward on a perceived and actual threat from Atlantis and more questions about Namor’s past and possible mental instability. Chip Zdarsky is doing some very interesting things with plot threads spilling out of Secret Empire and acting as essentially a bridge between Avengers and Captain America.

Isola #7 sees our duo come across a quarry town full of women who’ve had their children and men snatched up by the war or worse. It’s an interesting development of the real human cost of war, but it also opens up a mystery as to what or who is really taking the kids, and what they’re possibly becoming. Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl, Msassyk, and Aditya Bidikar continue to produce one of the most beautiful, intriguing, and entertaining comics on the shelves right now.

The Lollipop Kids #4 has some absolutely stunning artwork from Diego Yapur and DC Alonso. Previous issues have been incredibly impressive, but some of the compositions in this one take it to a whole other level.

Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #3 reveals just how thoroughly insane the Ozymandias-styled, world-“saving”, alternate Cannon is as Kieron Gillen, Caspar Wijngaard, Mary Safro, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou continue to push this story in intriguing directions. It’s funny, because the conflict, the superhero battles, feel like window-dressing for something else still. Especially as the “good” Cannon traverses panels.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 is another entertaining debut under the new “Archie Forever” initiative, from Kelly Thompson, Veronica Fish, Andy Fish, and Jack Morelli. Like the previous titles, it appears as though there isn’t a lot (or possibly any) of overlap with the other series, introducing us to this rebooted Sabrina’s family. It’s off to a good start, familiar faces in play, humour abounding, Salem being a little bellend, and the mystery of a wendigo.

Sharkey: The Bounty Hunter #2 is worth it for Simone Bianchi’s gorgeous artwork alone. Bianchi has always been an interesting artist, with inventive layouts and character designs, rich colour choices, and a beautiful soft-focus, painted style, all of that on display here for this story.

The Silencer #15 is a bit bittersweet since we know that it’s ending now, I would have hoped given how tied to Leviathan that it is that the series would at least see a tie-in to the forthcoming Event Leviathan, but sadly no. In the mean time, we’re still getting an excellent action comic from Dan Abnett, V. Ken Marion, Sandu Florea, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano.

Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions #2 is another excellent self-contained story exploring Darth Vader’s effect on others, from Dennis Hallum, Brian Level, Jordan Boyd, and Joe Caramagna. This one takes a look at the desperation and recklessness that fear of Vader’s wrath can have on someone. The layouts from Level are phenomenal.

Stone Star #1 is a great digital original debut from Jim Zub, Max Dunbar, Espen Grundetjern, and Marshall Dillon. It introduces us to a pair of scavengers on a planet being visited by a travelling battle arena ship, kind of taking its cue from hero shooters like Overwatch and more traditional fighting games like Mortal Kombat. There’s an interesting hook of human (or alien) trafficking to go along with the coming-of-age tale that’s set up as one of the scavengers, Dail, is offered a chance to possibly study and train with the gladiators. Great art and character designs from Dunbar and Grundetjern.

Transformers #2 engaged me a bit more than the first issue. It’s still very methodical and slow in its pacing and revelations, but there are some interesting hooks in the mystery of who murdered Brainstorm and in who was taking potshots at the Ascenticon rally. The mix of politics and self-determination through will to power is certainly an interesting concept from Brian Ruckley.

William Gibson’s Alien 3 #5 concludes what has been an excellent adaptation of Gibson’s screenplay by Johnnie Christmas, Tamra Bonvillain, and Nate Piekos. This final chapter ramps up the action and the stakes as the remaining survivors try to flee the station before blowing it and the aliens inside up. Tons of great horrific art from Christmas and Bonvillain.

I’m gonna do... Erebus because she’s on my mind XD

What was the first element of your character that you remember considering?

Darkness, I wanted a character to control the element of Darkness, whatever that entailed. The first thing I thought of, though, was her pale skin and white hair against her pitch black eyes and goth aesthetic. 

Did you design them with any other characters from their universe in mind?

She was the first, so nope.

How did you choose their name?

Erebus technically chose the nickname Erebus, but in creating her as a character, I knew Erebus as a god in Greek Mythology, I think a Primordial God of Darkness. If I’m not mistaken, Erebus is the son of Nyx, the Primordial Goddess of Night. 

In developing their backstory, what elements of their world played the most influential part?

Basically, everything that a kid hopes to never happen, happens. The unforgiving reality of the modern world is what created the bitter and angry girl that caught the attention of the Element of Darkness. 

Is there any significance behind their hair color/eye color/height?

Her hair color and eye color is a result of being chosen to wield Darkness, giving her a very striking appearance. Her blonde hair turned pure white, her skin became almost as white as her hair, and her hazel eyes became as black as night. Her height is because I thought it would be interesting to have the most intimidating character be only 5′1″. What do you relate to within their character/story?

Her unforgiving nature, unfortunately. I created her to embody the most negative or darkest aspects of being human, and that includes all the flaws. She will often reject someone before they can reject her, even though she does open up in the books eventually. However, if her trust is betrayed, she will never forgive you for it. Second chances from her are extraordinarily rare. 

Are they based off you in any way?

In some ways, yeah. But I can’t tell you all of those ways because spoilers!

Did you know what your character’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?

At first I didn’t think about it, but Erebus is currently demisexual, panromantic, and discovers she is polyamorous. 

How far past canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story?

I have almost her entire life plotted, so the majority of her 21 years of life. 

If you had to narrow it down to 2 things you MUST keep in mind while working with this OC, what would they be?

1. Sass, sarcasm, sharp comments, bitterness.

2. Gain the advantage whenever possible in a fight.

What is something about your OC that makes you laugh?

She still acts like a teenager, she is moody and grumpy and will throw pillows at someone if they wake her up before she wants to get up. She will also throw a stuffed animal at someone and later threaten their life if they don’t give it back. She is secret softy and it’s hilarious.

What is something about your OC that makes you cry?

Where to begin? Uh, how much she’s lost and how much she just wants a semblance of normalcy back.

Nope!

Things you post? Aesthetic things, memes, and rambling responses to friends, I think. I would probably just be an aesthetic blog if my personality didn’t ruin it, ohohohoho...

Favourite artists/bands? Goth/darkwave bands...? Ego Likeness and Hannah Fury are my favorite ones both musically and as people. I’m a club organizer type of person so the fact I like listening to All Your Favorite Club Hits On Endless Repeat after twenty-odd years helps. I just did an all-female-fronted (and largely all female musician) set recently that I was proud of.  Army of Lovers probably says the most about me as a person. Oh, and Marina and the Diamonds.

Favourite movies/TV shows? Right now, Grey’s Anatomy, Queer Eye, and the modern sitcom renaissance that’s happening because I love sitcoms. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Twin Peaks forever. (Black Mirror for an edgyyyy answer; I wanted to like the Philip K. Dick one but the bad false eyelashes on all the lead females was so distracting I couldn’t focus, costuming matterrrrs and overly long eyelashes are going to look like overly big shoulderpads in ten years) In terms of movies, I like both hardcore surrealism (Solaris, Boxing Helena) and fun cheesy things (Zoolander, Muppet Treasure Island) and action movies as a genre (Fury Road was great!). I had a lot of film classes in undergrad, plus we have the Library of Congress’ film campus and get to watch a lot of interesting silent, so it really depends on the genre and mood.

What is your favorite candle scent? LED, I wish they’d make some Alexa compatible ones so I could live out my Phantom of the Opera sewer decor fantasies

Do you have a favorite book? Alice Walker’s entire body of work. (The Last Unicorn for the nerd stuff, although reading a lot of Piers Anthony and Pratchett growing up probably says more about me as a person. Read a lot of Erma Bombeck, too, come to think of it. Sure, I read and enjoyed all that Russian literature as a moody teen, but I also liked ALL THE JOKES. Which is why I like Philip K. Dick, although the comedy is never preserved in film adaptation and I can whine about it like the critical snob I truly am.)

Are you a tea or coffee person? Yes, keep it coming. I am pan-beverage and constantly need to hydrate and and require at least two drinks on my person at all times.

What is your favorite brand and color of lipstick? Beauty Bakerie whatever the dark purple is, although I’m getting into the Sephora brand “lip stain” (actually longwear) wines and dark purples which I think are just numbers. Shout out to the NYX  “Transylvania” and Max Factor “Frivolous” I used to wear for their good names.

What is your favorite perfume/cologne? Pure rose absolute, which, judging by everyone’s reaction, makes me smell like a Riyoko Ikeda illustration. (I’m allergic to most commercial scents, but rose absolute does not fail me!)

Do you have a celebrity crush? Usually the perky girl character, Leisha Hailey (OG teenage crush just got better through the years), Jameela Jamil, probably a bunch of people I can’t think of right now

If you had to give up the color black, what color would you choose instead? Leopard print and hot pink

If you could change your name to a stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy name, what would it be? I grew up in a hippie area so I know far too many kids legitimately named a lot of those things. I always liked the names Violent and Prudence, though, if I was going to do a fake name.

What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while black clad? Just wear natural fibers, you’ll be fine and your skin will thank you anyway. I’m already drinking two drinks anyway, so.

I love watching cheesy romance films. Eh -- I love cheesy COMEDIES, so there’s some overlap, but eh.

I ALWAYS remember to wash off my makeup at night VERY TRUE. I always wash my face, comb out my hair, brush my teeth, and moisturize. EVERY NIGHT. NO MATTER HOW LATE IT IS AND EXHAUSTED I AM.

I sleep with plushies. True, if I haven’t kicked them off of the bed by accident.

I wear non-black pajamas most nights. False, I don’t own anything that isn’t black. (Night-time is for novelty tee shirts and threadbare Old Navy Halloween prints, or else long flowy black night-dresses.)

I still listen to a boy band that had disbanded years ago. Sure, I listen to [insert name of some synthpop band as a joke]

I think Andrew Eldritch is overrated. False, I feel like he gets rated pretty fairly.

I don’t like vampires. False. I mean, I find other aspects of folklore more interesting academically, but I feel like vampire aesthetic is pretty crucial to gothdom in general. Also, there’s some great chronic illness metaphor in there.

I’m dating a goth/darkly-inclined person. I think I talk about death and various cool diseases/medical problems too much for non-goths (taking a broad view and including lolitas and broader subcultural people). It privately irritates me when people put a burden of expecting women to content themselves with inferior aesthetics while everyone wants a “goth gf” or whatnot. (Yes, rarely it’s vice versa, but the societal burden of beautywork, even subcultural, is on women.)

I don’t enjoy graveyards. False! I love them.

Blood makes me queasy. False, high risk behaviour and bad financial decisions are pretty much the only things that make me queasy (also allergens).

I’d sooner faint than pet a spider. False, done that a bunch. I’m not afraid of any creatures that aren’t poisonous or infectious really. (Bats are amazing and beautiful but pretty likely to be rabies carriers, so goths should not pet them.  I used to preserve dead ones I found and that was a Bad Idea, but such is the folly of youth.)

I don’t like haunted houses. Eh -- I mean, it’s a gig. I don’t get off on the occult to the extent a lot of goths do, but I suppose it depends on if one means Haunted Houses (the theatrical experience) or haunted houses (the overwrought local ghost stories experience).

I still browse Hot Topic’s clearance racks. True; I hadn’t been to one in years but my friend and I just went and I totally did, although I remain Entirely Too Tall For Those Miniskirts. But I got my first Demonias from HT clearance, precious memories.

I’ve never read Dracula. False.

I think “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is a long and boring song. False! Blasphemy!

NYX, my favorite brand

One of my favorite brands is NXY. I always thought it’s called N.Y.X but it’s pronounced as Niks (the brand is called named after the goddess of the night). The brand is founded by Toni Ko in 1999. Toni her roots are laying in South Korea but she moved to America when she was a teenager. Toni started the brand, because she felt there was a gap between drugstore make up and high end make up.  The first NYX product was the Jumbo eye pencil in white. Now a days there are more then 15 colours in total! In 2014 the company was bought by L’Oreal. One year later there came physical shops, so that everybody could buy the make-up. Before this time, the make up was sold to professional Make Up Artists. NYX is one of the few brands that is very focus and connected with social media like YouTube and Instagram. At the moment you can buy the brand in over 70 countries and ofcoures online. In the Netherlands are two fysical shops: one in Rotterdam (where I always go to) and one in Amsterdam. Also some perfumery sell it in the Netherlands. And ofcourse you can buy it online. I love the products of NYX. The quality is good and the price is really nice. Also they have everything you want when it comes to make up: from primers to foundation to eyeshadow and mascara to highlighter and lipstick. Further they sell palettes for a whole facial look. They also have wonderfull collection of brushes and beautiful bautycases to store your make up. The look of the packaging is simple: everything is black with the name of the product and the brand in white. Like I wrote earlier, the make up is sold online and in a couple of real shops. I prefere to buy my make up in a real store, because I want to see, feel, try and smell the product. Also I like to get personal advice when I buy something. Something you don’t get when you order it online. I always go to the store in Rotterdam, because they sell the whole collection something that is not always the case in the perfumery. There are working such lovely ladies who help you wheter you don’t know what to buy or want advice on a product. I can tell you, that’s not in every make up store where I’ve been to! Rant Time! (Familiars and Caging)

Don’t EVER ask a witch to CAGE their familiar. If they feel it is best for the animal to have a cage, so be it but DON’T tell them to put their companion in it.

Okay, break down time!

I am a witch and I have a couple familiars, all are cats. I have a large black cat with forest green eyes who helps when she feels like it and is named Nyx. Very moody but a total sweetheart. I also have a wonderful calico girl of about a year and a half now. Is ALWAYS wanting to offer help in ANY form whether it be spellwork, information/research, or a little loving when the world decided to REALLY shit on me that day. She’s is such a loverbug and a social butterfly who I named Osiris. The third is her kitten of two months who is trying to force her way into being one - I’m attempting to get her to wait but hard to ignore a cat with the intelligence and persistence of a teenager. But I’ve digressed.

Cats are shits, we all know this. They knock stuff down, literally walk over us, refuse to be ignored, and will always find a way to get what they want. They’re not all too destructive in most cases. My owns girls only have an issue with two things. The first is sharpening their claws. I’ve tried MANY times in getting them to use the scratching post I have for them. Nothing. They repeatedly scratch the paneling lining one of the doorways, leaving pocket-marks and bright lines against the dark finish.

The other problem is when our door is closed. They hate it and scratch underneath to show this. Unfortunately, this has lead to some of the carpet being pulled up. We’ve put a rug in place and while it does get shifted with the door opening and closing, it’s not an issue so long as it is in place.

My boyfriend and I are working to fix this all. His mother doesn’t seem to get that fact. Don’t get me wrong, she can be a really great person but there are lines that should NOT be crossed.

Earlier, my boyfriend had tried putting up the option of kenneling my cats when we’re not home. I know he didn’t want to by the different negative points he brought up with it and not mentioning a single positive one. I���m guessing he also knew that I would never allow for it and I won’t. Ever.

When you have a familiar, you don’t treat them like a pet. They are essentially another person to you, a human being. You don’t CAGE a human being. Put a child in time-out for misbehaving yes but not for no reason. And you DEFINITELY don’t put a child in timeout for 8+ HOURS OF THE DAY. My boyfriend (while not being a witch) understands all this and my aversion to treating them as simple pets.

His mother does not and came to me with the idea after he went to bed, believing I would agree with that.

I was silent during the entire exchange and my stare was very nearly a glare.

My Cats are my Familiars. My Familiars are akin to my Children. I will NEVER allow my Children to be treated like pets. NEVER.

Regardless, I didn’t say a single thing against her, only kept my silence. Even as she tried to guilt trip me into it, I kept my silence. In my mind, I’m going, ‘Yes, you plan on making an investment to the house and they could be detrimental to that. However, caging them will not fix the problem, only delay it. Now shut your trap before you insult me and my Familiars further.’

To me, Familiars are -in a sense- sacred as you do not get to choose your familiar. They must choose you and being chosen is a very special thing as the bond created is extremely personal. There’s no special ritual or what have you for the bond. It is simply there. You don’t hear their thoughts and they don’t exactly ‘speak’ to you, per say. I get feelings, a word, an image, or maybe just a color or sensation. Maybe a sound; I’ve heard Osiris give me a mental sigh before. They aren’t all-powerful. They are a companion, your family. You rely on them and they rely on you. Pets are kept for company or luxury depending on the animal. Familiars are friends, family, children, parents, so much that trying to encompass that bond with a few words is to circumscribe what Familiars are and that is impossible.

So when you ask a witch to cage or kennel their Familiar, you are asking them to cage or kennel something that is sacred to them.

You laughed as you sat in the palace gardens, your little baby sitting on your lip and giggling happily as she wore a Moogle onesie her big brother Noctis had given her. You loved your daughter Aurora more than you could bear at times.

The little girl looked just like her father. The same beautiful green eyes and thick black hair. At times, you had to pinch yourself as you couldn't believe it was real. You, a simple assistant, married the King of Lucis as his second wife. And the Astrals had blessed your union with this little scrap of purity. "Aurora!" You cooed and kissed her belly happily. Making the child giggle more. "I love you little princess."

"You have some love for me as well, don't you, my wife." You looked up amused as you cuddled the toddler against your chest. The little girl beaming and wiggled excited as your husband and her father made his way towards you two. Leaning on his cane, his knee brace in place. It always tugged on your heart to see him like this. The Ring and the Wall demanding so much from him. Praying silently to the Astrals that one day he could finally rest and find peace.

"Mmmmm. Maybe," you drawled coyly, eyes twinkling as he laughed amused. Your daughter joining him happily as she held out her little hands at him. Regis sat down with the two of you, his movement stiff and slow. It made your heart ache, but you did not offer to help him. Knowing he did not like it at all.

Your little girl did not notice it, for her, daddy was just daddy. Wiggling off your lap, the little one crawled excitedly over to her father. Regis' green eyes lit up brightly as he picked up the little thing and cuddled her against his chest - taking off his crown and just became Regis, a husband and a father. Not the King.

You snuggled against his side and stroked his arm softly as he cooed and rubbed his fingers against Aurora's chubby little cheeks. He felt a bit tense, but that didn't surprise you. Being King was nothing if not stressful. Gently, you pressed your lips against his cheek - he automatically leaned into your touch. "Long day at work?" you asked him gently as he wrapped his muscular arm around your waist and pulled you closer.

He turned his face and pressed his lips softly against yours, making you giggle as his facial hair tickled your skin. Aurora let out a little huff, and you two looked amused at her. Her little cheeks puffed up, and her hands grabbing her father's shirt firmly. "Ah, isn't Papa allowed to give Mama a kiss?" Regis cooed amused as he rubbed his nose tenderly against hers, making her giggle again.

"You know how she is, she doesn't like sharing attention. Just like someone else I know...eep!" Slapping his arm lightly, you gave him a scolding look as his lips quirked up in a cheeky smirk. Handsome. He had aged a lot the last few years, his once black hair now completely silver. Lines on his skin and his body not as strong as it used to be. But he was still handsome to you. Still the strongest man you knew. Strength did not always come from the body, but from the mind as well. And few had such a steely mind as the one he possessed had.

You kept watching him tease and adore his daughter till the little kitten yawned and nodded off in his arms. Carefully, he put her in her sleeping basket and with a tender touch he tucked her in. "You are so sweet with her. I can watch you two for hours."

He turned to you and brushed his knuckles against your cheek this time. Having taken off his cloak as well and now sitting in only his suit. You turned your face and pressed a soft kiss against his knuckles. Enjoying the moment between the two of you. He tucked some of your hair behind your ear, pulling you back close against his body. "I wish I could spend more time with you two."

You nodded understanding, some days it almost felt like a game of juggle to find time between your duties and taking care of Aurora, to find time to just be together. He usually tried to be there for dinner with you, Aurora, and Noctis - when the young man came to the Citadel to spend time with you and his baby sister.

Another cute moment to watch. The usually quiet and tad awkward boy always perked up when he was with his sister. Regis also always tried to be back in your quarters around 10pm. So he could get some decent sleep. But the last few weeks, he had come to bed later and later. The issue of Niflheim weighing so heavy on his mind.

"How about you go visit your mother in Lestallum?" You blinked surprised at the suddenly suggestion. He pressed his fingers against your lips to prevent you from protesting. "It is a few months since you've seen her. And she has seen Aurora. It would do you some good."

"But what about you?" You couldn't just leave him alone, you were the one who made sure - even during these busy dangerous times - he didn't spend too much time working.

"I will join you in two-three days. Just got some stuff finish up, then I will come to Lestallum and we can have some time off together." When you tried to protest again, he didn't use his fingers to silence you, but his own lips. Making your toes curl and your fingers curling around his jacket. "You were the one who mentioned wanting to go on a little vacation. Now I am trying to make it happen, and you protest."

He let out a soft laugh when you playfully bit his bottom lip in retaliation. "Alright, Alright. But you will join me. Aurora gets super grumpy when her daddy doesn't give her a goodnight kiss." He rested his forehead against yours as his hand against the side of your neck, his calloused thumb brushing against your jawline.

"I will always be with you. Always"

  Aurora had been moody when you two had gotten into the car with two Glaives as escorts: your friend Nyx Ulric and Crowe Altius. She had settled down a bit when Regis had given her a Carbuncle plush, the little girl had holding it tightly.

Something had felt off to you though. The night before, Regis had made passionate but almost desperate love to you. His hold clingy and possessive. His kisses needy. You didn't question him about it, just gave him all he demanded and more. Chalking it up to stress. And what better way to release stress than by making passionate love?

He had kissed you extra hard and almost desperate again when you had been about to leave. Whispering to you to never forget how much he loved you. How you were his world. And would do anything for you. You had kissed him back, the unease increasing in your stomach, but again did not question about it. Clarus and Cor had been acting normally, so you tried not to be alarmed about anything.

You and Aurora had waved at the three men till you couldn't see them anymore, your heart growing heavier the further away from the Citadel you went. Something screaming inside of you to go back to him.

To be truthful, this had been the first time the two of you would be separated since becoming an official couple. So, again, you didn't listen to your instincts and chalked it up to separation anxiety. He would join you soon. Everything would be fine.

The next few days went by with a flash, Aurora and the others keeping you too busy to watch the news. Texting Regis whenever you could. You had laughed at yourself when your heart would still skip a beat like a silly teenager whenever he texted you. Or called you. Yes, he needed a damn holiday. Looking so damn exhausted. But he smiled. Cooed to Aurora. So all was well.

Or so you thought....

You woke up feeling sick as a fog. You shouldn't have had the fish last night. It really hadn't agreed with you. Checking up on Aurora, you smiled softly as you little girl slept sounding. Glancing around, you looked for your phone.

Regis had been oddly quiet last night but you had gone to bed rather early. Vaguely remembering him sending you a text that said. Forever yours and forever loving you. Honestly, that King of yours could be such a hopeless romantic at times.

Leaving the bedroom, you walked down the stairs to the living room. Your mind deep in thought as you thought of your Regis. The uncomfortable feeling almost annoying in your chest. Mmm, where was your phone? Maybe Nyx knew. You spotted the two Glaives and your mother sitting by the radio.

In Nyx's hand was a crumbled newspaper, Crowe squeezing his arm with a pained look on her face. Your mother stood up, her eyes red and rimmed with tears. Dread locked your throat, your hand immediately resting on your heart. "What's going on?"

You barely noticed your legs giving out on you, and you slumped onto the floor. King Regis and Prince Noctis dead. No. No. This couldn't be.

It felt as if sounds came to you through a wall or distorted like hearing it from under water. Your mother and Nyx rushed towards you. Asking you questions but you couldn't answer them. Noctis. Sweet little Noctis. No, he couldn't be dead. Regis.

A hysterical sob ripped through the air as you shook them off. No! No! NO! This couldn't be happening! He had promised he would be here soon. Go on a little holiday. "No this is a lie. It's propaganda! It's a lie!" you screamed as you grabbed his shirt and shook him in despair. "It's a lie, Nyx! They're still alive! THEY ARE ALIVE!!"

Nyx's eyes flashed with agony and wrapped his arms around you to restrain you from either hurting him or yourself. "Nyx please tell me it's a lie. Please! Oh Astrals. No this couldn't be happening! NO!" You sobbed against his shoulder as you clawed his chest. Not knowing what to do. Not know how to react. What to do with the crippling agony inside of you.

"I wish it was a lie. Fuck, I wished so much it was," he whispered apologising in your hair as he kept holding onto you. Rocking you, as your mother rubbed your back in some form of comfort.

The pain only increased as Nyx told you what had happened, Cor having called him to explain. The Nifs had betrayed them. Killed your husband. The City destroyed. So many had died.

"But Noctis is alive," Nyx whispered as he pulled back so he could look you in the eye. Cupping your face firmly. "The King send him away a day after you to keep him safe from Niflheim."

"He knew they were going to double cross him." It explained so much. The desperate way he had held you, kissed you. All the things he had been saying. He had been saying goodbye. It made the pain worse.

You screamed. Loud. Hard. Agonising. Your heart screamed with you. Your body shaking with the blinding sorrow and despair. Your voice cracked. Becoming hoarse and weak. But internally? You never really stopped screaming.

Any tsundere!Ignis headcanons?

I think that saying he’s tsundere is pretty much a full headcanon as it is. ❤

But here I go!

Tsundere!Ignis

Ignis isn’t good at showing his feelings, so that’s what leads him to hide them behind all that sarcasm and uptightness.

His Tsundere attitude is shown through harsh/cold speaking rather than physical aggresiveness. He doesn’t like physical abuse, so his only way left is through the mouth.

He will be VERY aggresive on his own way: with sass and sarcasm.He speaks Sarcasm even better than he speaks Lucian.

It’s an overall thing, not only shown in the romantic aspect. It also shows in friendships and any other sort of relationship he holds.

He’s not necessarily aggresive as the Tsundere term may suggest, not that way.

He won’t scream around and cause a fuss or punch people in the face out of nowhere.

He’s like an ice block; cold and hard.

He’s the most caring of people and does things for others and appreciates very deeply and intimately that you say Thank You.

But he, of course, won’t show this appreciation.

He doesn’t make a big deal out of what he does, either.

The most selfless man on Eos tries to pretend “it’s nothing”.

But he won’t say it with a blush and a smile.

He’s going to stay quiet or come with a aggressive-like reply.

Ignis WANTS to say you’re welcome, but he doesn’t want to sound rude or like it matters because to him it doesn’t; he does all the things he does because he wants people to be happy and healthy, and he feels that saying ‘You’re welcome’ is like accepting he did it as a favor when not really.

So…Tsundere Ignis is triggered.

“Wow, you cooked this for me? Ignis, you’re the best!”

“It’s not like you deserve it, you know. I don’t know why I took the bother on doing it. You better like it. That’s a threat.”

“Ignis, you didn’t have to clean my room for me. Thanks.”

“You’re a messy idiot, you’re lucky you have me.”

“Astrals, Iggy, you…despite your parents being SO rude with you if you take even five minutes of a break from school, you still took your time to come nurse me. Iggy, I’m…wow, Iggy, I’m…thank you…”

“It’s not like I care about you or anything, you know that? It’s, it’s…nothing personal. You’re important to the kingdom so you can’t be sick. I’m doing this for the king and the council and…it’s not like I- eat the damn soup. But bE CAREFUL, you bloody idiot, it’s still too hot. Here, I’ll cool it for you. You’re too dumb to do it yourself.”

“WOW, Ignis, I can’t believe you managed to get the tickets for the concert AND got the Council to let the three of us have the day off! You’re the BEST!”

“Let go of me, Noctis, I’m not- I didn’t do this for you, I did it because I wanted. Gladiolus, not you too, let go of my leg. Will you two- CAN YOU PLEASE STOP TOUCHING ME, ENOUGH, YOU KNOW I HATE THAT PEOPLE INVADE MY PRIVATE SPACE.”

*smooches*

“Ugh. You two are the grossest.”

But a small smile will escape from him.

Even though this attitude shows in any sort of relationship, it’s much more explicit on the romantic term.

Not only is Ignis naturally tsundere, he’s also inexpert on the romantic matter; he’s not interested, so the very counted times he is, he panics because he has no experience on dealing with those stupid sensations.

Crushing on someone makes him feel like a ‘pathetic teenage schoolboy’ so that makes him even more angered.

Extra sarcasm.

Even when not necessary.

Even if what he says makes no sense or doesn’t fit in the conversation.

I’ll assume you like/accept Gladio x Ignis, anon, so I’ll take the freedom to use it to give more headcanons (even if you don’t like Gladnis cause I do and you triggered me lmao not sorry).

So seen under the Gladnis scheme:

Seen as his crush not only is a man but also the toughest, strongest that he knows about, he’s unconsciously being especially mean with him no regrets.

Will constantly nag Gladio about stupid stuff.

Will smack him on the head once or twice (softly but still, that’s like ten times the more physically aggresive Ignis could ever get).

Will be especially aggresive during training with him.

Gladio’s going to be scared of him for months because “I hate practicing with him, he almost impales me FIVE TIMES already. I’m very sure it’s not an accident, he’s trying to kill me. What have i ever done to him? :’(”

Gladio’s done nothing wrong.

It’s just Ignis that can’t control his feelings and he’s angered they won’t go away.

Indeed, the more that they grow, the more aggresive Ignis turns. 

(”AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH WHY THE HELL WON’T THESE FEELINGS GO, JUST LEAVE, OHMYGOD, I DON’T LIKE THIS.”)

“You okay, Iggy? What’re you thinking?”

“Oh, the weather, it’s very nice. Why do you insist on wanting to know what I think about, Gladiolus? It’s my privacy, you know, I have all rights to think whatever I want about, okay?”

“Oh, okay, chill, I was just worried and-”

“Worried? What am I, a fragile princess in need? Will you stop treating me like I need heLP DO I LOOK LIKE I NEED HELP-”

Ignis really isn’t a screaming or aggresive mess, not really.

He just doesn’t know how to deal with the feelings :’(

Once, Gladio tried to talk with him about chicks and dudes just to figure out if Ignis liked someone (the poor brute).

“Say, Iggy. Whatcha think of Crowe? She’s pretty hot, isn’t she? Man, I wish there was more female Glaives. The uniform looks fine on slender, curved bodies, don’t you think?”

Tsundere Ignis is triggered.

“That is not of my concern and it should not be of yours. That is harassment, you know? You disgust me, Gladiolus. Staring at respectable women and trying to talk dirty about them to me. Is this the kind of man you are? UGH. No. Thank you.”

Ignis is not jealous, he’s just angered the man has not noticed Ignis is crushing ON HIM, STOP QUESTIONING ME ON OTHER PEOPLE AND ASK ME THE HELL OUT BEFORE I LOSE IT AND I DO IT INSTEAD.

“Oh. Okay.”

“…”

“…what about Nyx? He’s pretty damn HOT.”

Tsundere Ignis is triggered.

Tsundere Ignis confessing:

*defeats Gladio on training*

*puts a heel on top of Gladio’s back now that the shield hit facedown the mat*

“You’re a brute, Gladiolus. But you’re caring and sweet. I’m tired of hinting you and that you don’t get it. So I’ve had enough, no option but to do it myself since you’re too damn blind. Gladio, I want you to go out with me.”

“Wha-”

“And to keep it clear, I’m NOT complimenting you.”

“Ignis?”

“Also, I asked YOU out, so I will go pick you up and will pay for dinner, so have very clear since this moment that it’s nothing personal, it’s the formal etiquette of how all this…stupid, dumb thing of romances works. Or so internet said. Not thAT I- I didn’t search that, did you hear me? I…heard it somewhere.”

“…are you…asking me out?”

“Are you DEAF, ohmygod, don’t make me repeat it!”

This is totally NOT Ignis’ normal behavior.

He’s formal, quiet and reserved. Very gentle in his way of speaking.

So Gladio’s taken off guard at first that Ignis is so moody and rather aggresive right now.

but he notices that’s Ignis just being a mess of feelings and doesn’t know how to express them.

“Okay. I’ll be honored to go on a date with you. :)”

“…I-I know! I’m- you should- you should be honored, Gladiolus.”

“I am :)”

“….I’LL PICK YOU UP AT SEVEN"

He stormed out of the room.

He’s not angry; he’s blushing, but NO WAY is he going to let anyone see it or know.

First time Ignis brought flowers to Gladio.

“Iggy! Ohgods, are those…really? oh gods, that’s so sweet! :3″

“D-don’t look at me like that! I just…I ASSUMED that I HAD to bring you something. You did agree to a second date, s-so…this is the etiquette only.”

“Whatever, Iggy. This is ridiculous, but I also brought you a flower. Sorry it’s not a full bouquet like yours…”

Ignis is frozen. And blushing.

“…that’s VERY embarrassing. Give it to me. You’ll look stupid if I don’t accept it, so I HAVE to.”

Ignis kept it always in his hand.

Smelled it constantly when Gladio wasn’t looking.

Ignis freaking damn slept with the flower pressed to his chest.

Gladio knows it moved him a lot, and that Ignis just needs time to get over his Tsundere stage. Time and a LOT of care and love. Which he’ll give him happily.

First kiss.

“You want to what!?”

“Kiss you. If that’s fine with you, Iggy. I want to go to your pace, I know all this about a relationship is hard and new to you, so I don’t want to pressure you. So you don’t have to if you don’t wanna, that’s why I’m asking before any move.”

At first there’s silence.

“You just ruined it, Gladiolus. Kisses are meant to be spontaneous and romantic, right? You don’t- you don’t ask me first! Do I look like I would reject you, you idiot?”

Gladio laughs.

“Is that a yes? Can I kiss you?”

“Of course you can. Just. Don’t. You don’t- I’m-…just don’t ruin it, okay? I want it to be perfect. I swear to the gods if you ruin it, Gladiolus, I’ll murder you.”

That’s his way of saying “Kiss me, and take your time; i want this to be as special as I know it is.”

Over the relationships there’s constant “I hate you, Gladiolus” but they ALWAYS sound like the entire opposite, despite the ‘anger’ in them.

“I hate you, Gladiolus.”

“? Then why did you kiss me?”

“Because I wanted to >:(”

“I hate you, Gladiolus.”

“Say that all you want, I’m not putting you down anyway.”

“Like I care…”

“I hate you, Gladiolus.”

“Well, that’s definitely not what normally you say after sex, you know?”

“It is if your partner just broke your butt.“

“Should I apologize?”

“….not really.”

Tsundere Ignis on daily basis.

“Stop, I didn’t ask you to hug me!”

*Ignis is hugging back*

“Don’t get all sentimental on me, did you hear me?”

“Two months away on a mission at the other side of Lucis? Don’t look at me like that, Gladio, it’s not like it saddens me or anything. I don’t even care. Two months free of your ass, I’ll enjoy every second of it.”

*texts him ‘I miss you’ every night*

*sends first ‘I miss you’ text midnight*

*Gladio reads it*

*Turns around*

“Iggy…I think you just miss-programmed your message.I still don’t leave. That’s later this morning, sweetheart.”

Ignis is trying to frown but instead he just looks sad.

“I know. I just…already miss you. You, idiot.”

Gladio stays quiet at first, but snuggles and kisses his man’s head when Ignis drops a small tear.

OkAY, I’LL STOP HERE.

I gave myself the feels with that last part, I ain’t going further, it’s hurting me,a sjsfdkljg.

Takes place almost three-years before the game. Noctis has always scorned his life as a Prince and had it not been for his best friend, Prompto, he more than likely would be a sulky unbearable teenager that took all of his aggression out on his royal retainers...or at least more so than he already does. As it becomes more difficult to make time for Prompto after high school, he comes up with a last ditch effort to keep them together, the world of room-mating. It doesn't take long for him to discover that Prompto means much more to him than he ever knew.

This story will cover the span of a two-year relationship, first love, the pangs of becoming an adult, and ultimately letting go when the time has come. Painstakingly canon-compliant...for the most part.

Quick Bits:

Amazing Spider-Man #18.HU is Gibbon’s tale from Nick Spencer, Ken Lashley, Erick Arciniega, and Joe Caramagna. It’s a gut punch, a kick in the teeth, a few tosses against a tree, and then an attempt to turn you into a porcupine via arrows. While it does do a good job of telling Gibbon’s tale and attempting to make you care about him, it’s not a pleasant comic. It’s kicking the crap out of a z-list character to make you feel “the stakes” and this is really starting to feel cheap. Maiming and killing characters to up the gravity of a story, especially ones we’ve not see for some time, it’s not fun. It’s not shocking. And I’m tired of it. Which is somewhat sad, because this is some of the best art I’ve seen from Ken Lashley for a while. He seems to be channelling bits of Jack Kirby and Keith Giffen into his normal style and it looks really damn good.

Amber Blake #1 is another partnership with Glénat in France, this one a fairly moody crime story from Jade Lagardère, Butch Guice, Christa Miesner, and Robbie Robbins. It’s a fairly dark beginning, delving into sexual assault and human trafficking, but interesting. The art from Guice is incredible.

Avengers: No Road Home #8 breaks out some art from Carlo Barberi as we head towards the home stretch of this series. Very nice character moments for Hawkeye, Hercules, and Conan this issue, though the build up of seemingly insurmountable odds from Nyx is adding some incredible tension.

Bronze Age Boogie #1 launches Ahoy’s second wave of series and it’s awesome. The lead story is a bizarre mix of Doom Patrol-esque superheroes, Planet of the Apes alternate realities, and a teenager from nearly 4000 years ago fighting in a world of wizards and zombies. It’s glorious madness from Stuart Moore, Alberto Ponticelli, Giulia Brusco, and Rob Steen with so many ideas you can barely keep up. Rounding out this issue is the usual prose pieces and a wonderful back-up comic of Major Ursa, an astronaut bear, from Tyrone Finch, Mauricet, Lee Loughridge, and Steen that elevates the entire package even further.

Champions #4 unleashes Kaldera on the team looking to get revenge on Sam, while Miles and Kamala have a confrontation about what happened in Dubai. Lots of wonderful emotion in this one, beautifully depicted by Steven Cummings and Marcio Menyz. Also, Kaldera wanting to eat everyone is just weird.

Conan the Barbarian #5 is another great issue from Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar, Matthew Wilson, and Travis Lanham. This one taps into Conan’s life as a thief and a pirate while unleashing eldritch horrors from stealing the wrong idol. Great tentacle beasts and a wonderful feeling of dread throughout the story as Conan fights to survive adrift at sea.

Dead Kings #4 gives us some more dark humour as Maria and Sasha get closer to launching the rescue attempt on the prison, while Gena plans a little revolt of his own. Great artwork from Matthew Dow Smith and Lauren Affe.

Deathstroke #42 continues the “Terminus Agenda” crossover with Teen Titans as Slade looses the bonds of his prison in Robin’s underground supervillain jail, then hangs about and seemingly attempts to needle Damian as their attempt to take down another villain goes awry. This story is odd, but entertaining. Christopher Priest, Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz, Norm Rapmund, Jeromy Cox, and Willie Schubert are doing something interesting here.

Die #5 gives us the conclusion to the first arc and it’s pretty dark. Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Clayton Cowles make us question here whether or not our heroes actually are “good” as they systematically start to take apart some of Sol’s toys in order to try to get home. Also, there are some horrifying hints at worse things waiting.

Giant Days #49 sees Esther go back home for Easter break to try to write her dissertation. And fight a vampire with the 11-year old sister of one of her friends. Wonderful bit of how time changes you from John Allison, Max Sarin, Whitney Cogar, and Jim Campbell.

The Girl in the Bay #3 chronicles a bit of Hugh’s side of the story to his monstrous clay-like hallucination buddy, as Kathy continues to try to make sense of her double existence and the older version of her’s death. There’s definitely something else at play here as JM DeMatteis, Corin Howell, James Devlin, and Clem Robins keep building this mystery.

The Green Lantern #6 is relatively muted compared to previous issues, but still has an incredible impact as Hal goes through seemingly the last of the Blackstars’ tests and is granted an audience with Mu, from Grant Morrison, Liam Sharp, Steve Oliff, and Steve Wands. Mu here definitely seems to be insane, which is chilling for someone trying to control everything. There are some very interesting twists throughout, including another form of sacrifice from Hal, leading him to a strange place and a very old character who should give a hint as to where they are now.

Immortal Hulk #16 is another incredible issue from Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Ruy José, Paul Mounts, and Cory Petit. This team really seems to be able to do no wrong and each subsequent issue is another masterpiece in horror, weaving together an impressive amount of Hulk history in a compelling and enticing way. Along with a very interesting development for Betty.

Impossible Incorporated #5 concludes what has been an excellent all-ages series from JM DeMatteis, Max Cavallaro, and Gabrielle Gomez. This final issue leans heavy into quantum reality and divinity experiencing itself through permutation and self-reflection.

Justice League #21 is another interesting chapter in “The Sixth Dimension” from Scott Snyder, Jorge Jimenez, Alejandro Sánchez, and Tom Napolitano. This issue it become explicitly clear as to how it progresses the broader arc started in Metal as the stakes seem to be raised again. Stunning art from Jimenez and Sánchez.

Lodger #4 gets a little messy as the Laphams deliver the penultimate chapter of this series, inching closer to Ricky’s final confrontation with Dante. The disparate threads of the past, present, and Dante’s travelogues converge to a very strange perfect storm.

Marvel Team-Up #1 is an entertaining debut from Eve L. Ewing, Joey Vasquez, Felipe Sobreiro, and Clayton Cowles. This first issue teams up Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel presenting both sides to their day as they attend a speech from a noted ESU alumnus who has created a mind transfer device. Those things always go well. There’s some interesting contrast between wanting to be young again and wanting to be older faster.

Oberon #3 continues to twist the tale as Oberon is confounded a bit by what Bonnie isn’t, from Ryan Parrott, Miloš Slavković, and Charles Pritchett. It seems as though nothing is as it seems in this story which leads to some intriguing surprises.

The Punisher #10 has some great incidental humour as Frank continues to cut a swath across a country of villains in “War in Bagalia”. Very entertaining work again from Matthew Rosenberg, Szymon Kudranski, Antonio Fabela, and Cory Petit.

Red Sonja #3 is another excellent part of the story from Mark Russell, Mirko Colak, Bob Q, Dearbhla Kelly, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. This one hits hard on the value of mercenaries and what actually breeds loyalty.

Self/Made #5 takes off in yet another direction as Amala tracks down a scientist who has been searching for proof that ours is not the top level reality and is actually another simulation. It’s truly amazing as to how Mathew Groom, Eduardo Ferigato, Marcelo Costa, Mariana Calil, and Troy Peteri keep turning this story on a dime, with new revelations and new changes each issue without any of it feeling like a trick and delivering an engrossing narrative each time.

Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #7 focuses on some of the odd jobs that Gwen is getting through her website, pushes forward the problems she’s having with her headaches, and complicates her personal life a bit more. Seanan McGuire is very nicely developing Gwen’s character and relationships, all with some beautiful artwork from Takeshi Miyazawa and Ian Herring.

Summit #14 concludes this arc with Val and co. attempting to rescue Fiona and JB from Agent Wald’s clutches. The team-up with Noble and further development of Jamila helps re-emphasize the broader shared universe of Catalyst Prime. Also, how far all of the astronauts involved in the Event have come. Gorgeous artwork from Marika Cresta and Bryan Valenza.

Jason Aaron, Russel Dauterman, Matthew Wilson, and Joe Sabino deliver on the massive promise of this story with a brilliant, beautiful, and surprising opening chapter that levels a huge threat at the world.

Some nice character moments here from Brian Michael Bendis and really wonderful art from Patrick Gleason, John Timms, Alejandro Sánchez, and Alex Sinclair.
